Twilight Sparkle is a brilliant student at Canterlot University, but is extremely antisocial and doesn't want to make friends. When Professer Celestia offers her an A in chemistry for the rest of the year just to tutor a chaotic student who's failing, it's an offer she can't refuse. What happens when she finds herself not only befriending her new pupil, but also falling in love with him?

Sometimes, with a bit of love, chaos can be organized.

Twilight Sparkle was a fairly busy college student at Canterlot University. Her nose was constantly buried in a book, never looking up for friends or anything besides studies. She was walking towards her chemistry thought deep in thought, like she generally did. Students often whispered about her as she passed by them.

It was because of her wings.

Now, if she were just a normal pegasus, this wouldn't be a problem. Pegasus at Canterlot University were highly thought of and frequently occupied the sports stadium Friday nights, with rumors of wild parties following afterwards fluttering through whispers. Most were extremely athletic, but rarely did you find one who didn't like sports.

Now, if she were just a normal unicorn, it wouldn't be a problem either. Unicorns were highly respected and admired for their magical abilities, and they tended to be very brilliant. They were the ones in charge of student council and study groups.

But she wasn't a pegasus, nor was she a unicorn. She was an alicorn, thanks to Professor Celestia. She had studied under her wing for a couple years and together they had conducted various experiments on the similarities of the three races of ponies, figuring out how alicorns could be created through just magic and not reproduction. Professer Starswirl had help conduct the studies, and through studying various spells found some connections that hadn't been made before. It led to the first creation of an alicorn created artificially, and it also created jealousy and dislike. It was new and ponies didn't understand it. Instead of trying to be her friend because of her personality, they tried to use her so they could get wings too. Eventually, Twilight had stopped trying to be friends at all with anyone.

She had made her way to her chemistry class, and to her alarm a few minutes late. The class had already began conducting an experiment, and while everyone else had paired up and chatted eagerly, the light purple alicorn with a tight bun in her hair trotted to the back counter, hoping nobody would notice her. She placed a stack of books was on her left, and on her right there were various beakers with chemicals in it. She was working alone, like usual, and her lips were pursed tightly together as she concentrated on combing the chemicals together.

Twilight carefully poured the last drop into the other test tube, and then looked around for a second. Professor Celestia wasn't looking, and she had just found a spell last night that could potentially make this experiment even better than the results the teacher wanted. It might even get her a better grade. So, silently, her horn glowed a powerful rosy hue as she zapped the test tube.

The glass tube shattered, and chemicals splattered all over her now messy bun. A giant cloud of smoke came from the wreckage, and she began to cough.

The other students looked over, some in surprise and others in just curiosity. Some snickered, some just shook their heads, and yet others just whispered names.

'That's the bookworm for you. Always trying to show off her magical abilities, but it blows up in her face.'

'Show off.'

'Loser.'

Twilight heard all of those before, and she had learned to accept the fact that having any sort of relationship with pony was frivolous, whether platonic or romantic. Ponies were useless, and they were empty shallow beings who just used others to get what they wanted. Swallowing hard, she cleaned up the mess and then began to pack up her multiple books. Celestia's eyes softened as she walked over towards Twlight. The purple unicorn didn't even notice the alicorn walking towards her as she finished putting her books into her book bag.

"Twilight? Is everything alright?" she asked in a concern tone. Twilight just forced a smile.

"Define alright," she said sarcastically with a fake smile. She sounded stressed and disappointed that the experiment had failed. She hated failure. She despised it with a passion, and when it happened, it was like her whole world just shut down.

Celestia sighed and shook her head. "Twilight, don't let the other students get to you. You did great, but adding magic to things that don't require magic doesn't usually help matters," she added with a chuckle. "Now, I know you would love nothing else to pack up and head to your dorm to bury your nose in a book, but I have an extra credit opportunity for you."

Twilight's ears perked up a bit at that. Any extra credit was extremely rare at Canterlot University, and was almost unheard of. Why was Professor Celestia offering her extra credit out of everypony?

"I want you to tutor a.. unique student. He's absolutely brilliant, such as yourself, but I'm afraid that he is rather antisocial, also such as yourself. Unfortunately, he tends to cause a bit more chaos than anything else, and so his grades aren't passing. If you can befriend hi-"

Her eyes widened in horror at the word 'friend.'

"Professor, you know I don't do friends!" she protested, her eyebrows furrowing. Celestia just laughed and smiled.

"I realize this, but I'm offering an A for the rest of the year if, and only if, you can befriend him and get his grade up to at least a C. That shouldn't be too difficult for a brilliant alicorn like yourself, right?" she said seriously.

Twilight bit her lip in thought. An A for the rest of the year was extremely tempting, though why would her professer do something like that if it was just a normal student who was failing and needed a tutor? It couldn't be possibly that bad, right?

"I... I guess I can give it a shot." she said quietly. Celestia smiled.

"That's my faithful student. Now, he's going to be waiting for his tutor at three o clock in the library, and I expect you to meet him there and instruct him on how to do the lesson this week. It shouldn't be that difficult, considering you aced the quiz on it yesterday. Are you up for the challenge, Twilight Sparkle?"

Twilight nodded, and was mentally preparing herself for the task ahead. "Understood." She placed her last book in her book bag and placed it carefully over her wings. Twilight began to walk away before turning around, realizing she had forgotten something.

"Professor? What's his name?"

Celestia's smile grew a bit mischievous.

"Discord."

Three o' clock. Twilight Sparkle paced around her room. She planned to get there a half hour early so she could slowly ease into the fact that she was expected to make a friend and tutor someone who was apparently as brilliant as herself.

That fact alone scared her. She didn't want another manipulative 'friend' trying to use her for her wings. If he was that brilliant, he would easily find a way to crack her fragile ego and get her to break down. That's what everypony else had done to her, and she expected the same thing from him.

Inhaling and exhaling, almost to the point of hyperventilating, Twilight Sparkle slowly calmed herself down. Everything was going to be alright. She would just have to put her guard up and not succumb to this brilliant student's ways.

--

Two thirty came, and Twilight Sparkle had already settled into a table in the back corner. The librarian have given her a friendly nod when she came in, she was a regular at this place. If books were coffee, Twilight would have been constantly buzzing with knowledge that she drank up each morning. Twilight sighed and organized her books in alphabetical order. Just to be professional, of course. She used her magic to sharpen her pencil, and then waited patiently for her student to arrive. To not succumb to boredom, she took out her chemistry book and delved into the pages.

Only fifteen minutes later there was an interruption that caused Twilight to cease her reading and look up. It took a lot to stop her from reading. She was very involved in her books, and it was almost like the books swallowed her into her own little world. But this was an interruption that caused everypony to look up.

The library doors had swung right open, and a small male draconequus had entered the library. He donned a pair of nerdy glasses, a blue sweater with Canterlot University written on it, and a pencil tucked behind his ear. Twilight was well aware there was several species attending Canterlot University, such as griffins and draconequus, so that wasn't a surprise to her.

What surprised her was how obnoxiously loud he was being in such a quiet studious enviroment. He greeted the librarian with a loud, "Helloooo! It's such a nice day, isn't it?" and then promptly snapped his fingers. The librarian's books suddenly turned into dancing and singing books. Glaring, the librarian demanded that he turn the books back right that instant. Rolling his eyes and muttering under his breath how librarians didn't know how to have fun, he reluctantly turned the books back to normal. Twilight watched closely at the draconequus. It was unusual for a student who didn't want to study be in the library, because the librarian was extremely strict about keeping the environment quiet so students could concentrate on actually studying and not goofing off.

"May I ask what you are doing in here, since you clearly have no intentions of studying?" demanded the ticked off librarian. The male grinned and scanned the room.

"Au contraire, Miss Books, I was just looking for my tutor, Twilight Sparkle. Have you seen her?"

Twilight's eyes widened in absolute horror. No, there had to be some sort of mistake! He was practically screaming trouble, why would Celestia make her tutor such a delinquent that obviously didn't have respect for conventional study methods?

Ms.Book's jaw dropped.

"The Twilight Sparkle? The valedictorian candidate for this year? I have no idea how the hay you got her to tutor you, but she's over there in the back corner."

Twilight wished that a black hole would suddenly swallow her whole or that everypony would stop staring at her. She shrunk down behind her book and prayed silently that he made a mistake, that he was referring to maybe another Twilight Sparkle or-

She saw him snap his fingers again and then suddenly appear right in front of her. He floated in the air above the table and took away the chemistry book hiding her face.

"H-hey!" she stammered, a bit ticked off at her new student already. He began to thumb through the pages, stopping every so often to nod.

"Hm, so you're the Twilight Sparkle, huh? Genetic mutation to your own body for the good of science?" he stated with a mischievous grin. "You seem way too uptight, don't know how to have any fun either. Hay, I doubt you've never even been to your own birthday party. You wouldn't know how to enjoy yourself, now would you?"

Her blood began to boil.

"First off, Discord," she spat in a low growl, "Let me get this through your thick skull. I am your tutor, and you are my student. I will not tolerate any ignorant comments about myself, and if you are just here to screw around, then my time has been wasted when I could be using it for better purposes. If you actually want to learn, then sit down and start doing your chemistry homework. If you don't understand something, then ask a question and I'll try my best to explain it to you. Do I make myself clear?"

Her voice had raised considerably during her rant, and everpony's eyes had fallen to her. The librarian shushed her, and her cheeks became flushed as she shrunk down in horror.

Discord's face had broke into a very broad smile during her little spiel and let out a low chuckle.

"Oh my, looks like Princess of supposedly "no fun and games" here does know how to have a bit of fun~" he teased, and snapped his fingers. A crown appeared on her head, and she frowned before taking it off.

"I'm not a princess or anyone special, I'm your ticked off tutor. Do I make myself clear Discord? Now get to work before I completely regret taking you in as my student." she said gritting her teeth.

Discord just winked at her with a large grin spreading further across his face.

"Alright Princess, I'll get to work," he said, snapping his fingers and having his textbook appear before him, along with dancing mechanical pencils and paper. Twilight heaved a sigh and glared at him.

"I'm not your princess," she muttered angrily under her breath. She attempted to delve back into her chemistry book, but it was hard when she was so frustrated.

If he intended to be an annoying student who didn't care about his education, then she intended to be a harsh teacher. But, she thought with another heaving sigh, she would actually have to attempt to be his friend.

She was going to have to go through an entire year of dealing with him, wasn't she?

Her ears flattened, and she groaned as she tried not to facedesk in frustration.

This was going to be a very long year.

Professor Celestia took a deep breath and exhaled, smiling to herself. It had been the end of another school day, and her classes went well. Finally done cleaning up the classroom and getting everything she needed to get done, she decided she deserved a cup of coffee before she left the university.

Trotting down to the teachers' lounge with her briefcase floating magically beside her, she passed by the library. She heard a very loud "Hello!", but didn't think anything of it. Students all the time were happy to see their friends in the library, so that wasn't a surprise. Celestia merely smiled to herself and hummed as she let herself into the teacher's lounge where the beloved coffee machine was located.

"Mmm..." she said quietly to herself as the coffee began to brew. She whiffed in the delicious scent and smiled. "Just what I needed after a hard day's-"

That beautiful sentence about to be composed was interrupted by a scroll suddenly appearing out of thin air and whomped her on her head. She picked up the scroll bemusedly with her magic to find it was from none other than Twilight Sparkle, scrawled in neat cursive.

"Dear Professor Celestia,
Since the Human population has been extinct for many eons and their ancient technology like cellular devices have disappeared with them (we should really re-invent those sometime), I'm forced to send you a scroll as means of instant communication. I contact you because this "brilliant student" you forced me to tutor is being rather rude and seems to care nothing about studying or being serious. Are you certain that he's the right student I'm supposed to tutor?

Your faithful student,

Twilight Sparkle"

Celestia merely chuckled at her students frantic scroll. Taking the coffee and pouring it into the mug, she took a sip before walking down towards the library to pay them a little visit. Upon entering the library she noted two things.

One- Twilight Sparkle appeared to be having the worst time of her life.

Two- Discord appeared to be having the best time of his life.

Twilight was attempting to read her chemistry book like she was supposed to, and Discord had amused himself by turning the book into a dancing one, causing Twilight to clench her teeth in frustration. Celestia smirked as she trotted over to the back table.

"Hello Twilight, Discord," she said, addressing both of them. She smiled brightly at Discord. "Enjoying being tutored by the brilliant Twilight Sparkle?"

Discord beamed brightly back at her. "Oh yes, Princess and I are having a ball over here, so I wanted to make the ball even funner by making her book dance! After all, it's a ball~" he said, snickering at his own punny joke. Twilight frowned and humphed.

"Funner is not a word, Discord," she spat, and Discord just smiled even wider.

Celestia just smiled and looked at her faithful student.

"Twilight, you do realize that you need some chaos in your life, right?" she said gently. Twilight's jaw dropped open and was about to protest when Celestia gave her a motherly stern look.

"I'm willing to give you an A for this year on two conditions- One, that Discord gets at least a C in Chemistry, and two, that you two become friends, which means that you'll have to deal with a bit of chaos in your life. Understood?"

Twilight nodded and let out a sigh.

"Understood."

Celestia sipped her coffee before using her magic to take something out of her briefcase. She floated the flyer over to the middle of the table.

"Vinyl Scratch and Octavia are hosting a unique concert this weekend, and it's free for all Canterlot University students. You two should go and bond, in a non university setting," suggested Celestia with a sly grin. Twilight swallowed back a protest building in the back of her throat while Discord smiled in glee.

"Ooooo, this looks like so much fun Twilight~" he said in a sing song tone. Suddenly he looked down at his watch.

"Oh my heavens, I'm late for my snack time of chocolate rain and cotton candy! I'll pick you up at seven on Friday Princess~" he said, blowing her a kiss. Twilight wanted to shout at him that she didn't want to go, but it was too late. With a snap of his fingers he was gone, and she couldn't do anything about it.

Celestia snickered. "Have fun on your date this weekend, Princess. You'll appreciate this... eventually." She took another sip of coffee before walking out, leaving Twilight speechless.

Groaning, she facedesked into her book and prayed that this would all be a terrible nightmare that she had yet to wake up from.

Twilight Sparkle soon realized she had never been on a single date before. Not once in her life had she even considered the silly notion that she would spend an evening, not studying or doing important things, but doing frivolous things like going to a concert. She really didn't want to go on a date with Discord either. He seemed rude and not caring, and most importantly of all-

She shuddered outwardly as she thought about the thing she disliked most about her new student. She didn't like the fact that he was so chaotic. Dancing books, messy notes scrawled in chicken scratch, she hated that. She hated the way he was so carefree and most importantly she hated how he flirted with her!

Her cheeks heated up a bit at that, and she bit her lip. Twilight had encountered flirting stallions and a few mares before, but yet again it was for her wings and more out of mockery than anything. Discord, however, already sported a set of wings and his teasing seemed genuine, which bothered her. What did he want?

Twilight's thoughts were interrupted as she heard a knock at her dorm door.

"Come in!" she called, using her magic to fix her messy bun. The door opened and Discord walked in with a bouquet of roses. Twilight's mouth nearly dropped open. It was just an extracurricular activity, what in the hay did he need roses for?

"I hope you like these," he said with a wide grin as he snapped and put them in a vase, which then hovered over to her counter. "Beautiful flowers for the beautiful mare I have the pleasure of escorting tonight, no?"

Twilight frowned and tried to ignore the heat rising to her cheeks.
"I'm not beautiful," she mumbled under her breath, but then spoke up as she said, "Are you just trying to butter me up?"

Discord flashed her a grin. "Why Twilight, you're being a little uptight tonight. I think it's time you have some fun, don't you think?" He examined her, his eyes traveling towards her messy bun and then down to her regular attire. Her face burned and she glared at him.

"I don't need a perv in this dorm room, thank you very much!" she said hotly as she avoided his gaze. Discord chuckled and shook his head.

"Contrary to what you might think, Miss Sparkle, I'm just noticing that you didn't dress up. This is a semi formal event, don't you have any sort of dress you could wear?"

Twilight looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Well, I have my funeral dress, my best mare's dress I wore at my brother's wedding, and that's about it. I could just wear the funeral dres-"

Discord's eyes comically widened, dramatically putting his paws in mock horror.
"Oh no no no, I can't have my Princess go in such a dreary dress!" He snapped his fingers, and suddenly Twilight had on a beautiful dress. It was simple, black, with a black bow on the back. Her hair had turned from an uptight bun to a messy, cute bun. Twilight ran over to her mirror and was surprised to see such a beautiful mare in front of her.

Discord flew over to stand behind her, and smiled as she stared at herself.

"Hmmm... It's missing something.." he said thoughtfully. He gazed into the mirror and noticed a lack of silver on her. Snapping his fingers, he produced a silver necklace with a heart locket. "Miss Sparkle, may I have the honor of putting this on?"

Twilight swallowed as she shook her head. "T-thank you for the beautiful outfit, but I can just put on that with my magic. I don't know what your plan is, b-but I'm determined to find out what it is!" she said, her face now completely cherry red and determined. She took the necklace and clasped it around her neck. Discord smirked.

"Why Princess, I only have one plan for tonight," he said with a wink. She felt like she was about ready to slap him with his suggestiveness but he just smiled and held out the tickets. "And that plan is to go to Octavia and Vinyl Scratch's concert tonight in style." With another magical snap of his fingers he had a bow tie and a top hat. "Professor Celestia requested this, and I'm determined to have a good time right along side you. I understand that you don't like me very much, if at all, but unlike you I might actually want a friend. Twilight, why don't you like me?"

Twilight froze, her mind racing. Why would he want a friend like her? She was cold, usually intolerant and..

She was about to think about how she wasn't beautiful, but she glanced at the mirror and saw a beautiful mare glancing back at her.

She swallowed, and met his eyes.

"I- I don't like you because you seem too much unlike me," she admitted quietly. "I'm going to be blunt and honest. You're disorganized, messy, too carefree and too- too..."

"Too what?" he asked in a whisper, his gaze softening. She swallowed again and kept her eyes on his.

"Too chaotic," she said firmly. "Too dang chaotic, and you're talking to a mare who freaks out if a single piece of my mane is out of place."

Discord gave her a half smirk, and carefully lifted his paw towards her face. Taking a strand of hair from her bun, he released it and it flowed gently on the side of her face. Twilight resisted the urge to twitch in horror, it was out of place and she didn't like it and-

"Twilight Sparkle, even organization needs chaos sometimes. Can you at least give me a chance to be your friend? You're shutting me out before even doing that, and I think it's fair that I get a chance to try to be your friend, no?"

Twilight sighed. He did have a point, not about the chaos, but the fact that she judged a book by his cover and never did give him a chance.

"Fine," she said with a sigh. "I'll give you a chance. But if you try to manipulate me or hurt me in any way, I'm warning you I could easily send you to Tartarus with my magic! Understood?" she growled. Discord's face broke into a broad smile.

"Crystal. Now, let's go to that concert, friend!"

Twilight Sparkle had to admit, Discord was being a perfect gentlemen. Too perfect, she thought silently to herself, but she had agreed to give him a chance. They had arrived at the concert fifteen minutes prior to before the show was going to start. People gave both of them weird looks and began to whisper amongst themselves. Twilight's cheeks burned as she realized how much she stood out with dressing up semi casually, and resisted the urge to cover her face with her wings.

"Twilight, ignore them. They're just jealous because they don't have such a beautiful date as you," he said quietly. Glancing at him, she let out a sarcastic snort.

"Right, and I'm the mayor of Manehatten," she said shaking her head. Discord opened his mouth to protest, but a loud voice interrupted them.

"Hey, look at that, it's the two freaks," came a snarky voice. Twilight and Discord looked over to a blue unicorn with a smirk across her face. She trotted up to them,

"Twilight Sparkle," she said with a scoff in her voice,"It's sad to see how Professor Celestia wasted such potential on you when she could've done it on someone more powerful, like the great and powerful Trixie." Trixie then laughed at Discord, glancing at him. "And Discord, why in all of Equestria would you go out with her? I understand that you're a freak as well, but did you really have to go that low?"

Twilight swallowed back the tears and glared at Trixie, her eyes almost beginning to shimmer. She opened her mouth to try to protest, but Discord just put a paw on top her head, rustled her mane a bit and then faced Trixie.

"Excuse me, what was your name again?" he asked politely with a grin on his face. She blinked a few times and laughed.

"Didn't you hear me the first time, simpleton? I'm the great and powerful Trixie!" she boasted. Discord nodded, and then held out the flyer Celestia had given them for the concert.

"Miss 'great and powerful' Trixie," he said, using air quotations, "Why do you think we're freaks?"

Trixie appeared almost taken aback a moment before clearing her throat.

"You two are freaks," she said, jabbing a hoof at them, "because you're different, unnatural and quite frankly don't belong here." Discord merely smiled and looked down at the flyer.

"Then what are you doing at this concert? Don't you know by what you just said, you described the performers for tonight?" he said seriously. Trixie's eyes widened, and she shook her head.

"No, I didn't describe them! Trixie loves Octavia and Vinyl's concerts, they're masterpieces and deserved to be honored by Canterlot University!" she protested. "How is that different or unnatural?"

Discord looked at Twilight momentarily, smiled softly, and then looked back at Trixie.

"Two mares dating is considered unnatural and different, but yet people still accept and love them. Did you know Octavia and Vinyl are dating?"

Trixie's jaw dropped a tad. "N-no, Trixie had no idea that they were so dif-"

He interrupted her. "Then you take back what you said before? That they don't deserved to be honored just because they are different?"

Trixie was at a loss for words. Discord continued, and placed an arm around Twilight. Twilight almost jumped at the sudden touch, and her face turned red as cherry blossoms.

"So if they're different, and yet you still respect them and honor them, then why can't a draqoneous and a mare have a good time enjoying some quality music without being judged?" he said frowning. "Have a good night, Miss Trixie. I'll be escorting my beautiful date inside where we can enjoy ourselves without the judgment of bullies." He walked off with Twilight, leaving a slack jawed Trixie in the dust.

While they were trotting along, Twilight looked up at Discord in shock. Her cheeks felt like they were on fire, and she hesitantly cleared her throat.

"D-Discord? Why did you stand up for me back there?" she asked in confusion. Discord merely just smiled and ruffled her mane, causing her face to heat up even more.

"Because, Twilight, I wanted to prove a point that I have the choice to hang out with anypony I want, or date anypony for that matter. And I want to personally enjoy the beautiful serenade performed by spectacular ponies that belong here, that aren't so different and that aren't so unnatural. Just like you and me," he said quietly. Twilight swallowed.

"T-thank you.." she thanked in a whisper. They walked over to their seats and sat down, just in time for the concert to start.

The concert was beautiful, and Twilight was nearly choked up at the gorgeous duets full of love and sorrow the two mares played. It was mixes of classical and dubstep, and Discord particularly loved the dubstep as he tapped his fingers along to the beat. It was a wonderful night of music, and when the last note was played the crowd roared in applause. The applause grew even louder as Vinyl suddenly dipped Octavia in a kiss onstage, and the audience went wild.

After the concert, Discord was walking Twilight back to her dorm room.

"Now wasn't that a wonderful concert?" he asked Twilight with a grin. Twilight nodded.

"It was wonderful!" she gushed. "The beautiful melodies intertwining to create such a luscious and sorrowful environment was just.. oh, it was just delightful!" Twilight said, a smile appearing on her face for the first time that night. Discord smiled softly as they stood in front of her dorm room.

"I wasn't lying when I said you were beautiful, and you look even more beautiful when you smile," he admitted softly, a light blush grazing his cheeks. Twilight blushed and adverted her eyes, but gasped when she felt a soft kiss planted on top of her mane.

"Goodnight, princess. Perhaps we can do this again sometime."

With that he was off into the night, flying up in the night sky leaving behind a very flustered alicorn.

Perhaps.. perhaps he wasn't so bad after all.

Being emotionally flustered was an understatement for what Twilight was feeling all night. After that kiss goodnight, her body was having a rather strange reaction. Her heart was beating faster than normal, the temperature in her cheeks was rising (she checked the medical book, twice in fact to make sure it wasn't the flu), and her wings kept popping up every time she thought about that kiss. Needless to say, the next day she stumbled into class with bags under her eyes. She really wish she had stopped at Marebucks to get a coffee at the very least, but nonetheless dragged herself to her back corner.

She was very surprised to see someone already sitting there, hard at work. Sporting on a Canterlot University sweater was Discord. Twilight's jaw almost dropped, just because of the irony of someone so chaotic being so.. organized. She trotted up to him and peered at his work. Written on the paper were dizzying mathematical equations and algorithms.

"Discord, what are you doing?" she asked with one eyebrow raised. Discord turned to look at her, tucking his pencil behind his ear as he did so.

"I'm working on today's assignment," he said with a smile. "I transferred classes, and now we'll be in the same class all year! Won't that be great?"

Twilight's heart skipped a beat. She would have to deal with him every single day? She thought tutoring was chaotic enough already, but having to deal with him in her class as well?

She just sighed and sat down next to him, not even bothering to contemplate the logicalness in this situation. Discord looked at the bags under her eyes and his eyes softened slightly in concern.

"Didn't get much sleep last night?" he asked. Twilight merely just glared at him and began to get out a sheet of paper and a pencil.

"As a matter of fact, no, I didn't. I had other things on my mind," she humphed as she began to write on her paper. She didn't even notice when he snapped his fingers and a Marebucks coffee cup appeared until he it pushed it towards her. She looked up in surprise, a light smile appearing on her face before taking a sip of it.

"What kind of things did you have on your mind, Twilight?" he asked. Raising an eyebrow, he continued a bit louder. "It doesn't have anything to do with our date last night, does it?"

Twilight's cheeks bulged as she did a spit take of her coffee, causing the class to look back at the odd pair. Coughing and blushing immensely she shook her head.

"O-of course not! Why would I be thinking about that?" she laughed nervously. "Pffff, you're just being silly I have no idea what you're even talking about hahahaa..." Her voice trailed off and she swallowed, not looking at him in the eye. Discord smiled and ruffled her mane slightly.

"Twilight," he said softly, "Do you want to talk about this over lunch? Ponies are staring."

Twilight's eyes widened in horror as she saw the class looking back at the two, some laughing and some whispering. Dropping her head and turning an even brighter red, she nodded sheepishly.
--

They decided to eat out at the local hayburger restruant. Twilight sighed as she sat down. Discord brought the hayburgers to the table and looked at Twilight with a soft smile.

"Twilight, that was your first date ever, wasn't it?" he questioned with a small smile. Twilight's face burned in shame as she averted her eyes. Discord let out a small chuckle.

"I know you think I'm annoying and chaotic, but I personally had a very fun time hanging out with you, and I would like to do it again. Is that too much to ask?" he asked quietly. Twilight swallowed and opened her mouth to speak, but he placed a finger on her lips.

"Celestia asked you to tutor me over the school year, and to become my friend. We could just be friends, if you would like. Or.." A rosy blush spluttered across his cheeks as he sheepishly rubbed his neck. "L-like I said before, last night was really fun, and to be honest, I wouldn't mind getting to know you more. I know you don't like how chaotic I am, but... doesn't every organized sentient on this planet need a little chaos to counter balance it?" He bit his lip and looked at her with a small, yet nervous grin.

She looked into his eyes and for the first time that day, let out a small, worn out chuckle. Yes, he was chaotic, but dealing with him for an entire school year wouldn't be half as bad as she originally thought it would be. She would get an A in Professor Celestia's class, and maybe, just maybe...

Maybe her organized life did need a bit of chaos in it.

Professor Celestia was worn out by the end of the busy school year, and she was almost done with grading all her students. She had saved two in particular for last, and when she finally got to them, a broad smile spread across her face.

Discord had gotten the second highest grade in the class, only to be topped by Twilight. Celestia let out a soft laugh. It looked like Twilight didn't need that extra effort to get an A after all. She heard laughter outside her office door, and her ears perked up a little when she heard familiar voices. Trotting over and opening up the door, she peered out to see Discord and Twilight talking and laughing down the hallway. Discord's paw was tussling her hair, and Twilight let out a smile before suddenly flying up a bit to kiss him on the cheek. Celestia smiled at the couple before closing the door to her office.

Because even the most organized egghead, she mused, needs a bit of chaos in their lives. She smiled, before writing two A+ on the transcripts, and placing the transcripts into the pile.
