> FlutterSoar > by JackleBee > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Night Race > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Race The stars had peaked out above the cotton clouds as the night had turned the golden day into a masterpiece of topaz blue. The wind was fresh and the night sleepy and quiet. Two black figures zoomed past the moon that gazed down upon the small town of Ponyville. A rainbow mane dazzled while a dark navy blue zipped past the lean figure. “Ha! Is that all Soarin? I bet I could be you with both my eyes blind-folded!” cried the lean Pegasus with the rainbow mane. Her pink eye glowed with bright mischief as the wind had flung her mane back stylishly. Her opponent laughed, head held back, he pointed a defiant, playful hoof at his competition. “Oh really? Well Rainbowdash- I’ll see what happens to that name once I win!” his eyes narrowed and said lowly, “how would you like to be called Rainbowslug?” Rainbowdash winced at him and gagged jokingly while she sneered, inching her blue neck forward. “Rainbowslug?” One eye narrowed as she eyed the figure before her in the sparkly night. “Couldn’t you come up with a better name at least?” she laughed “ I’d take Rainbowcrash anyday!” Soarin shook his head and bounded up to her, galloping across the clouds with two flaps of his strong wings. He narrowed his eyes and mocked her, “bad naming or not Ms. Slug- even if I am bad- the winners always make history!” Soarin laughed as he zoomed past her. “Oh really Soarin? How about I call you the Piepudge? You seem to have things for pie, pudgy.” In less than 10 seconds flat, she whizzed past him, doing a short somersault in the air leaving a rainbow trail behind her. Soaring cantered his legs in the air. “Oh you take that back!” and then a smudge of blue rocketed for the rainbow trail- crashing into layers and layers of cloud. Beating his wings he lowered his head like a pouncing tiger and then there… he had finally passed the Rainbow creature in a matter of 11 seconds! Though Rainbow one did not take the easily- and she flung her wings forward with all her might and spun elegantly like a hornet passed him to the destination. The Apple Farm’s scarecrow. Rainbowdash beat her wings like a war-born machine, and in just a matter of seconds- Piepudge was gone. Rainbowdash smirked as she turned her head back. Oh yeah… Piepudge it is! Then as she turned to look in front of her. She made impact with the straw stuffed scarecrow and a confetti party of straw had erupted. Rainbowdash grunted “Ooof!” Soaring fluttered slowly to the ground and roared in laughter as his hooves tapped the earthy ground. Soarin smirked in a tongue and cheek tone, leaning toward the Rainbow-mess“I guess you can call me Piepudge… but you are totally meant for Rainbowcrash now!” The two laughed into the darkness until a large thud could be heard. The barn door opened and the light streamed onto the two blue Pegasus covered in dirt, straw, and a severed scarecrow head. An orange well-built pony stepped out onto the veranda. Her green eyes squinted at the two foreign figures. “R-Rainbow? Is that you?” she trotted over to them. The orange pony crossed her forelegs and frowned down at Rainbowdash like a mother scolding her child. “Rainbow! Ah’ can’t believe you! Ohhh, ya’ did it this time!” Rainbowdash froze. “Ya’ll could hurt someone yer know that?” she grabbed the head and placed it onto it’s body again. Her tone lowered. “Rainbow, ah know your friend is going to stay in Ponyville on leave- but there ah’ some trying to get some shut-eye. You go race during day or someone else- Applebloom might get scared.” Rainbow dash bent her head and Soarin patted the dirt. Rainbowdash then looked straight at her friend, eyes blazing with understanding and loyalty of a thousand legions. "Don't you worry AJ, I've got it covered..." she stood up with her head held high. "After all, I am going to a wonderbolt- so all that mess could be easily payed off!" Soarin laughed and also gave a curt bow. "Sorry bout' that AppleJack... but I hope you won't stop selling me those delectable pies! But please, if anything goes wrong- tell mama-Spitfire. She'll know what to do." The he turned his head to Rainbowdash and nodded. “Really Jacks, we won’t do it again.” Rainbowdash give her a wink and the two flew into the night. The orange pony laughed to herself: “Ha, Piepudge… Rainbowslug" she turned her gaze to follow the two black silhouettes flying in the distance among the dark blue black drop of diamond-like glittering stars. Applejack looked thoughtfully as she placed a hoof on her chin. "Ah really wonder what that 'mama-spitfire' would think if she heard that name..." She shook her head and walked into the quiet barn house. The crickets chirping their night song as the quiet cool, chilly breeze wafted and lulled the last of ponies in Ponyville to sleep and restful slumber. > Soarin into the Ponyville Princess Library > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soarin into Ponyville Princess Library The wonderbolt flew to the cloud house Rainbowdash resided in, flapping his wings, he glided to the airy living room and rested on a fluffy cloud couch as his Rainbow friend trotted on the soft cotton candy-like floor to great him. Soarin greeted Rainbowdash with a shining smile and said "that was a good race, Rainbowdash!" He scratched his wings and back, his head wincing from a shot of pain. "It really did work my wings a lot with that flying! But I'm sure you'll be a wonderbolt soon, my friend!" Rainbowdash laughed heartly and poked the stallion's chest friendly. "Yeah! Well if that happened, those wings of yours would never be able to keep up in the competitions!" the two pegasi laughed as they walked towards the door leading out to the beautiful morning sun in Ponyville. Hooves dug deep into the cloud floors and the sun glazed their manes in a golden liquid of light. Rainbowdash stretched and bent down in a competitive position as she flexed her left wing, her eyes peaked at the wonderbolt that stood to her left. She smiled and offered "since you are off duty, on leave- why don't I introduce you to my friends in Ponyville? I'll race you to Twilight's first-" her face turned glum as her back slumped down, "it's good to get that boring egg-head stuff away anyway!" Soarin glanced at her shaking his head musingly. "Well, let's do that then-" he paused and sneered playfully "-Rainbowslug!" And with that, the two figures like the night before zoomed across the town like two blue torpedoes aiming to the library the studious purple Alicorn lived in. . . . Twilight was indulging herself in her grand library levitating a cup of tea as the last rays of the morning sun had slowly transformed to the afternoon glaze of day. She flipped a page in the red book she was reading with magic and sipped nonchalantly while keeping her eyes peeled on the book before her. Her pupils shrunk as she shivered reading the book. And the brave lass Matilda took her sword and gave one look at Ragnar the Red... Her eyes blazing red and hair flailing in the wild wind. Twilight slowly veered into the book, her eyes wide in the suspense of the story, mouth agape. The Brave lass Matilda shouted at the stoic fellow, and pointed the blade at his neck. Voicing those ancient words of song: 'Well you talk and you lie and you drink all our mead! And I think- A crash was heard from the floor above. Twilight growled as she deliberately closed the red book shut, leaving the Book of Skyrim Tales alone. "Argh! Who could be here at this time!" She clasped her head, "oh... especially on such a good part too!" She lumbered her way up the stairs and then a shriek was heard all over Equestria. "Rainbowdash! What did you do!" Her Rainbowdash squeed shyly, and trotted up to her apologetically as papers fluttered around the room, she placed a hoof on her shoulders. "Listen egghead- I'll clean the books up later- but why don't you show some 'regality' to one of my friends on leave, Soarin." The pegasus nimbly trotted up to her and bowed elegantly. Soarin looked at the purple amethyst eyes of the Princess and saluted her, commenting "fine day Princess! I never meant to ruin this library of yours- and I apologize... You aren't the only one who suffered." Twilight rolled her eyes and in her frustration sighed while placing a hoof on her head. "Well, it's not like I didn't know Rainbowdash couldn't crash into a scarecrow and a Library in two days!" And like a scarecrow herself she bent over to the pile of papers around her and levitated them, eyes narrowed as she analyzed each piece. "Well, welcome to Ponyville Soarin! I'm not so rude to new comers- but my library is very important to me-" she paused and looked at him earnestly giving a small smile. "But Pinkie Pie will be back soon tomorrow or a couple of days from her-" she lifted her hooves "Rock-family-trip-with-big-sister-Maud," Twilight quickly walked over to a shelf as she folded the papers neatly into a jewel engraved golden box. "When she comes back- expect a party." The purple pony then twirled to Rainbowdash, looking down at him authoritatively. "Also, Applejack will be busy today- she promised Applebloom for a whole-day camp out- and don't ask how and why." She levitated a scroll and tapped her chin and continued, "Rarity has a big commission she needs done- and well Pinkie is Pinkie- I have to clean this is up so come later maybe..." Twilight paused and looked up at the wood ceiling in deep cogitation. "But Fluttershy is free today- there aren't many chores today since she prepared to have a Spa day with Rarity that was cancelled..." Then the Princess placed her face in front of the Rainbow one, eyes serious. "But don't crash into the house, she might get startled... you know that well Rainbow." Rainbowdash rolled her eyes as she stretched her wings and tail, she posed with one hoof up smiling seductively, she retorted jocularly, "I know that egg-head! We'll just tip toe there! But really, Sparkle, we won't do that." Then with a curt nod, she waved Twilight good bye and smiled at Soarin as they both beat their wings to the small house on the outskirts of Ponyville. Twilight sighed and looked at the small purple dragon lumbering her way. Scratching his head he asked his pony-mother yawning, "was that Rainbowdash?" He picked up a piece of paper littered with hearts and glitter. His eyes squinted at the writing before him, he read it out loud: The paper of shipping shall live and a new story ensued- and I ship Fluttershy and Brae- Twilight Sparkle snatched the paper and stuffed it onto the highest shelf, her magic levitated a key and small 'click' was heard and she huffed deeply. She hissed in defense "you saw nothing!" Spike looked at her, uninterested. "Well Twilight, I guess I know you like to write romances.. bad romances." > So... her name was Fluttershy? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two figures zoomed to towards the Everfree forest, their wings beating against the wind like eagles flying through a soft breeze. Rainbowdash laughed as she quickly flew past Soarin. Soarin frowned competitively, arched his back, and with a one flap of his blue wings- he came soaring past her and flew towards the sky, diagonally, he ascended towards their destination as he inclined closer, and closer into the clouds... But Rainbowdash was an agile flyer and was just about to catch up with him until she stopped. Soarin flew towards the sun but began to recognize- that he could only hear himself against the wind currents. He turned around, Rainbowdash looked at him in a confused fashion, eyes arched. She paused and hovered where she was. Soarin looked at the blurry rainbow speck, eyes curious. "Hey Soarin!" cried Rainbowdash, she sighed dramatically, and grumbled underneath her breath: piepudge ears... Raising eyebrows she lifted her hooves to her mouth "Hey show-off! think we can stop racing! We are almost near to Fluttershy's" Soarin looked at where the rainbow maned pony was pointed at. He looked forward and saw the small roof top of a house embedded with soft petaled flowers. His squinted his eyes from afar, and turning flew towards Rainbowdash wings allowing him to glide gracefully towards her. He smiled mischievously "so, I'm the show off now, huh?" A cloud passed his left as he twirled in the air, Rainbowdash snickered. "More like trying to show-off for an in-flight ballerina show!" Soarin nudged her with his right wing. "Oh yeah? A ballerina now?" He beat his chest with a hoof, "woah, Rainbowslug- your shooting bullets!" Rainbowdash laughed out loud. "Ha! Of course I am! Took you long enough to figure... Piepudge! I am always the fastest in anything!" She paused in mid flight and did a 'rarity model' pose. One hoof on her chin she looked up, "I am 20 percent cooler after all!" Soaring nodded his head sarcastically as they flew slowly to the growing image of the homely evergreen place Fluttershy resided in. But he wondered, Who was Fluttershy? He knew that Pinkie Pie was a the bright one, and Rarity was the fashionista but his memory was blurry. He felt rocks in his stomach for not knowing his friends of his Rainbow racer. He glanced at Rainbowdash. "So, who is Fluttershy?" Rainbowdash looked at him incredulously. Turning away she asked Soarin questioningly as she flew above a cloud, "I thought you knew who she was?" Soarin scratched his head sheepishly. He replied in an uneasy voice, "well, I do know how your friends look like- I guarantee it 150 percent!" He then smiled shyly, "but I don't remember their names to well..." Rainbowdash again looked at him- this time glumly. They landed softly onto the earthly soil, dust fleeing from their landing. She finally shook her head after a couple of silent minutes. "Ahh, Soarin, you've had too much pie," she waved him away as she turned her head right, "I'm sure you'll know who she is..." she paused as she looked up at the blue aquamarine sky in deep cogitation. Tapping her chin she continued, "she's that shy pony with the really long cotton candy pink hair. You can't miss her-" Rainbowdash blinked as she heard the entrance of her dear pet. She exclaimed happily, "Oh, hey tank!" Soarin thought about the pink cotton candy-haired pony as his zoned from his Rainbow friend who was trotting towards her pet, Tank. He walked the opposite direction of Rainbowdash still looking at the blank spot where she stood minutes ago. Her? His eyes grew thoughtful as he cocked his head while he was slowly walking backwards. She was the really pretty one..he remembered a dream sequence of when he saw the little pastel cotton-candy haired pony clap for him at the Royal Canterlot Wedding after a show of racing skills. He blushed bashfully as he remembered her quiet 'yay.' Suddenly, he quickly shook his head. Oh no, no, no! You are single! Just like Rainbowdash!.. and Twilight! and- His eyes wandered up the brilliant shining Rainbow mane. Wha-w- what if she finds out I have a small... pie-likey-love for her friend... He traced his hands over his well fashioned dark navy blue hair in stress. She will think I might be intruding on her friend! or-or-o-o-or Deep in his now troubled mind Soarin, his hoof felt cold mossy water. Of all things... Oh Celestia- you had to purposely put a puddle on the day I meet the pony I kind of like. And before he knew it he was flung in the air. Beating his wings, he flipped upside down backwards and his heart froze and felt his body turn to ice. He remembered the soft skin and long flaky eyelashes of this mysterious pony with cotton-pink luscious hair, he paused turning pink as his cheeks were slumped against the pony's face, silky pink strands of hair enveloped half his face, tickling him softly like dandelions in the wind. He heard a small squeak and lowered his eyes to the fragile creature he fell on top of. Soarin craned his neck slowly. Glancing into the gentle yet scared dreamy cyan eyes while blushing, he thought quietly to himself as his mouth was agape from shock. So her name... was Fluttershy.. > Rainbow luncheon save and plan > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow luncheon save and plan Rainbowdash heard a small squeak, she turned away from the wide eyed tortoise. Whirling, she saw her dear friend Fluttershy, squished and slumped under her racing friend, Soarin. A tiny "help" was heard. She froze, and her eye pupils shrunk ten fold, she crouched angrily, nose puffing. Soarin saw this and achingly craned his neck towards the dumbstruck rainbow maned pony. He gave out a sheepish giggle as he stumbled to get off the fair frozen pastel pony. "Ahh.. heh heh... heh! We are-" Soarin slipped and his head landed on Fluttershy's belly. He cursed himself for his own stupidity: Argh! Soarin, you fool, you pie-loving-fluttershy-admirer idiot! It wasn't we, it was me! Now I'm dead for sure! Soarin then in a spark of light, placed his hooves behind himself and catapulted himself up into the air, he continued to ramble helplessly to the still shocked Rainbowdash. "R-R-Rainbowdash- I didn't mean anything- it was nothing" he scratched his head and he fluttered slowly to the ground, gingerly he mumbled "i-i-it was an accident" his hooves touched the ground and raised them towards Rainbowdash to calm her shock. "I stepped on a puddle and I just couldn't do anything- I tried to fly but then I crashed into Fluttershy after I walked into that puddle!" He pointed at the area where the puddle was. It was gone. Soarin looked at the puddle then at the slowly stalking Rainbowdash that was beckoning on him. He kept looking back and forth in a frantic frenzy, a thought raced through his mind: It was there! I promise it was there! Soarin then heard a small 'eep!' and both Rainbowdash and Soarin straightened up and looked at the messy yet fragile pink maned pony. Unknowingly, Soarin flew towards her, heat rising to his cheeks, he knew how silly it was that there were less than two meters apart. He picked her up by the shoulders. The frail pony pressed her chin towards her chest. "Fluttershy! Are you okay? I didn't mean it on purpose! Your not hurt are you?" Rainbowdash frowned at him and pushed him aside. "Soarin, you-" she shook her head, "I have never seen you as klutzy as this- you usually would just jump and quickly apologize." She pet the cowering Fluttershy, "not look like you have never seen a pony in your entire life!" Soarin shrunk, I can't believe I hurt Fluttershy for my stupidity- there goes my chances... he gave her a worried eye and retorted. "I-I-It was an accident Rainbowdash! I didn't mean to!" He looked at her earnestly as he pawed the ground with his hoof, "well, you know how it is, remember the Olympics- I broke my wing- I'm a klutz" he paused, and flexed his muscles, he waggled his eyebrows and hissed, "I'm a manly klutz!" Rainbowdash hoof palmed herself. Soarin walked towards the shaking pony, her hair had draped itself over the pretty pony. He slowly moved a shaking hoof towards her face, and parted her hair gingerly. His heart thumped as he saw the soft cyan eyes appear from behind the cotton-pink silk-like hair. He looked into the deep black pools of her pupils, it felt like a millenia before she answered in a whispery voice: "I-I-I'm okay... I'm fine.. Soarin'" Soarin inched towards her. "Y-You know my name?" Rainbowdash exasperated, scowled. "Ugh, Soarin, come on! Fluttershy isn't as pie-headed as you! Of course she remembers you from the Olympics! In fact" Rainbowdash rolled eyes in annoyance, "she commented on your" she raised her hooves, "bravery for your racing!" Crossing her forelegs, she added in triumphantly, "but that's just Fluttershy, we all know I was faster anyway!" And with that, the Rainbow maned pegasus fell to the ground laughing. Soarin rolled his eyes, he turned back to the pastel colored pony. Fluttershy's hair glimmered in the sun like polished and well groomed silk, and her eyes crystalline pools of cyan-turquoise hues. Soarin scratched his head, and thought: Well, I might as well make up to things so at least we can be on good terms... he looked forlornly to the side. At least that's where it will always be... not after what I did. He brushed his hooves through his mane lightly, tightly closed his eyes and burst with a genuine smile. Soarin raised a hoof towards the frail pony whom he adored. "Listen... I'm sorry we may not have had a good start-" he looked away, he remembered something: this wasn't the first time I met her! I saw at the wedding and Olympics! he returned his gaze at the patiently smiling pony, and his heart fluttered joyously. "Well, we did meet- but not like, in person...so-" he ushered a small laugh, "I guess it's only fair that we get on good terms- sorry for crashing into you and scaring you like that..." he turned his head away dramatically, "I understand that you still hold a grudge on me... but" he veered up to her, eyes wide and teary, "will you forgive me?" Fluttershy's mouth was open slightly, she thought quietly to herself, oh... how could I ever hold a grudge for him or anybody! She placed a gentle hoof on his, her smile bright and rejuvenating. "Oh Soarin, I could never hold a grudge against you or anybody for that matter!" she looked at him with understanding, and continued, "I know it was an accident- and I'm glad you thought kindly enough to apologize." Soarin smiled, he felt his heart grow wings, and his joy was fluttering in his chest. Oh.. why is she so sweet! Fluttershy looked at him smiling at her with caring eyes. She blushed and cowered to the depths of her long wavy fair hair. Rainbowdash saw the two, she looked at them with narrow eyes, in quick speed she took quick steps backward towards Soarin. She looked at the two's glued gaze. This is weird. Really weird. Rainbowdash pushed a hard smile, putting an arm around Soarin she excused them both, "well... since this whole problem is finished..." she dragged Soarin away from the confused, yet wide innocently wide eyed Fluttershy. Her rainbow friend continued, " it's only safe to say that this has been a great meeting for you two, and we both have to get something for supper-" she shook her heard, "I mean lunch!" Soarin struggled against hair, head turned back green eyes looking at Fluttershy wonderingly. Rainbowdash gave a forced smile again, "so.. bye-bye!" and with a quick wave, to Fluttershy, she and Soarin were gone, leaving a rainbow trail behind them. Fluttershy sighed to herself and thought dreamily and sadly: Oh... he was such a sweet pony- I hope he and Rainbowdash have a fulfilling lunch... She looked forlornly to her evergreen cottage. They could have always had lunch with me... . . . Soarin was flying after her, his speed reeling the energy out of his wings, Soarin unable to call her, shouted at the small cyan-rainbow made figure above. "Rainbowdash! Why did you drag me away from her!" Rainbowdash looked back, she frowned while thinking, her eye pupils shrunk in fear of what to say. What to do! What to say, what to say! I can't ask Rarity! Not in front of him... Soarin isn't as dumb as I would suspect... Everybody knows the top gossip that she's the ultimate love master She looked back and gave an uneasy, wobbly smile. "I did it because you looked like you were... about to faint!" She flew farther towards the little town of Ponyville, the wooden houses and their soft colors glowing in the lime light of the sun, she looked back and a thought struck her head, she gave a cheeky smile as the confused eyes of Soarin, and jostled, "well, I also forgot to tell you that I had a meeting with Rares tomorrow so since that's the event, I thought we could give Fluttershy some time to prepare for her colt-sitting tomorrow." Rainbowdash somersaulted in the air and landed on a mushroom chair. Ponies looked at her in shock and awe, and the trees rustled in greeting as Soarin stormed after her, taking a seat across from her. Soarin inched his neck toward his friend, "you lied to me?" A butler looked at him quizzically, as he handed them the black embroiled menus. Soarin payed no attention, but Rainbowdash looked at the menu closely while scratching her chin, she turned back to Soarin, eyes curious. "Hey, so I'll explain later- let's get some grub for now. What do you want?" As she said this, she tossed him a menu that lay on the mushroom table. It bounced and landed on his face, he frowned and slowly sighed as he looked towards the sky. He opened the menu to look through it's contents. Heh, if Rainbow doesn't tell me after lunch- I'm going explode. But... let's see here... He traced the fancy words with his hooves. Morning Glory afternoon meal: Morning glory salad and sandwich with mint fondue Hay fries Daffodil and daisy sandwich Lemon tarts Onion-horse-shoe rings Lunch salad Caramelized apple slices with carrot cake Zap apple flambe (NOT IN SEASON) Oatmeal with raspberries Strawberry sorbet Lemon sorbet Blueberry sorbet Rainbowdash eyed the waiter, she handed him her menu and asked, "got anything special today?" she tapped her cheek, "like you know, the haystack sandwich-bread-burger?" The waiter looked up thoughtfully as he twirled his fine line mustache. "Well, we do have the hay-fries burger topped with baked beans and celery sides..." he looked down at her apologetically, " but we do not have the haystack sandwich-bread-burger, that you wish for." Rainbowdash slumped down. "Fine, well thanks anyway- I'll take it." Soarin looked at the waiter, he twirled his hooves and smiled sweetly. "Got any pie on the menu?" the waiter shook his head. "You can get pie at the Apple farm- that's their specialty- we only make culinary dishes from some of their top resources, apples. But their pie, is their trade mark, apologies, sir." Soarin huffed. "Well... I'll take one of those caramelized apple slices with that carrot cake." The waiter nodded, and repeated the orders. "We have the hay fries burger topped with baked beans and celery sides, and we have the caramelized apple slices with a slice of carrot cake," he looked at the both of them, "would like some appetizers of some sort- or salads?" The two shook their heads, the waiter smiled politely, "okay then, we will bring your order in shortly, should you need any needs with our catering, don't hesitate to ask." With that, the waiter walked away. Soarin turned back to Rainbowdash, his eyes in disbelief, "I don't believe you, you said you were free during my whole leave!" Rainbowdash scratched her head. "Well... Flutter-" Rainbowdash paused, maybe I should ask Twilight to analyze him first, she's single and she's probably read a lot of egg-headed books about love and psychology. Maybe do that, before I try to get me and Rarity to spy on them... she shook her head, "actually, Fluttershy I remembered is on busy animal business- as usual! So... you might have to just hang around with Twilight." She gave him a wide smile. Soarin looked down sadly. Aww... I really wanted to have lunch with Fluttershy. It would be nice to know her. He eyes drifted to the pebble on the ground. I guess, I can get to know her through her friends- she probably will be at ease and less shy if I know more about her! He smiled at the thought of a smiling Fluttershy. The platter of plates stopped his thoughts. He looked at the apple slices and the carrot cake, he sighed. I wonder what Fluttershy's cooking would taste like... He bit into the delectable- now tasteless cake. Rainbowdash eyed him, she tapped her hooves together. Gosh, I feel real guilty... But something in my Rainbow-senses tells me something is going on with Soarin- he's acting weird. But... I can't belive I'm going to do this... but I'm going ask Rares about this and send Soarin to Twi to see if he is... in some kind of ... spell.. They both ate in silence for the remaining moments of lunch. > The Rain-tastic plan! Pre Action! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rain-tastic plan! Pre Action! And the sunny pony handed a hoof to the frail, long haired pony "Oh Fluttershy, don't ch'you worry bout' nothin.'" Braeburn patted her pink soft cotton candy hair. "Those mean timberwolves' got nothin' on you, Princess Fluttershy of The Evergreen forest." The pony shied away, pink lockets of hair graced the tips of her nose and covered her cyan eyes. "Oh.. Braeburn, thank you so much for comforting me- you really are a sweet stallion- "Twilight!" The purple pony's glowing horn stopped abruptly, and her feather in which she was writing with dropped to the floor. Her face fumed as her cheeks grew red. "Why can't somebody knock on my door for once!" A blue hoof grabbed the long scroll Twilight was writing. The highly hued pink eyes of the blue pony looked at the paper skeptically with a crooked, mischievous grin. Rainbowdash looked at Twilight with a cocked head. She returned to give a scholarly look at the the scroll. Her eyes quickly read the first sentence: And the Princess of The Evergreen forest looked at the handsome brave stranger from Appleloosa... Braeburn Twilight snatched the now glowing scroll of paper from Rainbowdash, face red and flaring. "Heh, Twilight, I never knew you had such romantic imagination..." "Agh! Rainbowdash!" Rainbow dash laughed, as she slowly looked the examine an hour glass. She looked at it with squinting eyes, observing the distortion of her face. While looking at the hourglass, she nonchalantly asked her purple friend, "Twilight, do you think you could baby-sit Soarin and just talk to him in your little tree-library for today?" Twilight sparkle levitated the scroll into a small chest on a high wooden shelf and turned back towards her blue friend. "Rainbowdash, I thought you were free from all weather team shifts!" she quickly frowned, "also, this isn't called a 'tree-library' it's my house." Rainbowdash scratched her head and suddenly looked at her with teary eyes. "Twilight... you have too! Don't you stand up for buddies like me?" Twilight's mouth was open as she looked at the grovelling Pegasus hold onto one of her forelegs. She sighed. Rainbowdash looked at her through teary eyes and placed a hoof on her shoulder. "Twilight... it's urgent, you gotta' keep it secret okay?" Her magenta-violet eyes pierced into Twilight's. Twilight growled to herself- but sighed all the same. "Fine- I Pinkie Pie Promise," and she placed a hoof onto her chest. "Good, because I had a meeting with Rarity, and it's super important! And I don't want to make her disappointing and all- so you better keep a secret..." she looked around- "especially from Fluttershy." Twilight veered back, and craned her head forward, eyes round. "Rainbow, why would you want to keep something like that a secret from your friend?... Especially Fluttershy!" Rainbowdash placed a hoof on her face and moaned as she looked towards the top of the tree library. She eyed the mahogany wood, and the fine homely style of the house and replied to Twilight, with an exhausted voice. "That's the thing Twilight, Fluttershy. She is my closest only Pegasus pony- and if she sees me at Rarity's- not like there is anything bad with her- she'll think I'm a total phony!" Twilight looked at her with a small knowing smile and slowly walked up to the blue winged pony. She placed a hoof on her friend's shoulder gently. "Rainbowdash... Fluttershy is your friend, and even if she did see you at Rarity's nothing would ever stop her from seeing you as her brave friend who always- not only looks out for her- but everyone else." Rainbowdash looked back at her and gave her a short smile and looked down at the floor, tapping the wood floor with on foreleg. "Thanks Twilight but..." she looked away at the small photo of all her friends resting on Twilight's night stand, "it's not really that though- and I know Fluttershy-" she looked into Twilight's deep hued purple eyes, "but it's different." She moved Twilight's hoof of her shoulder and placed her hooves on Twilight's, "But you have to do as I say, and please, please, try to baby-sit Soarin' ask about his interests.... friends, and such..." Twilight growled and dug her head into her own forearms. "Well- I did Pinkie promise... so fine." Rainbowdash did a short somersault while cheering "yeah! Thanks Twilight I owe you a bunch! And I always knew I could count on you!" And with that in streaks of rainbow and wind- the blue Pegasus was gone. Papers were gracefully floating in the air as they slowly made way to the ground, and a couple of foot steps approached the wide mouth pony. "Was that Rainbowdash?" "..." "I thought so... I'll make some tacos, Twilight- and maybe ask the Apple's to make some pie." The shocked purple pony could only stare into the mess and muster a small, "Thanks, Spike" The small purple dragon looked at her with his green eyes and placed his hands on his hips. "Also, how's that story your writing? About the Forest Woad Fluttershy Evergreen Princess something and the Earth-pony hero Braeburn?" Twilight spun around and looked at the purple dragon in the eyes. "Spike! How much have you read!" Spike replied nonchalantly as he walked towards the kitchen inside the giant tree library. "He did just destroy those evil Forest invaders with one boomerang right? That part was pretty cool... and funny. Better not let Fluttershy or even Rarity or Applejack read it- they will think you've hit the hay." Twilight shook her head and sighed exasperatedly and slumped onto the floor. "Oooh, why do people have to read my stuff..."
