> The Stormy Night > by Derpyditzydoobubbles > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Storm > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a musky night at your place. You are staring silently at the cable TV that soothes your nerves of the distant rumbling of thunder that vibrates in your ear. You are watching your favorite night time show, and it's your favorite episode. You are glad that you are getting the rare chance to sit quietly in your chair, accompanied only by a small pitter-patter of light rain on your roof. Suddenly, a loud rumble of thunder catches your attention. You look out the window and see the rain picking up. A small tension of worry is beginning to linger in the back of your mind. You decide to continue watching your program in peace. It is getting to the funny part. Just then, you hear the sound of a hoof tapping on your front door. You reluctantly get up from your chair and walk all the way to the door in a slow fashion. You reach for the door knob and you turn it slowly. You then pull the door open to see a purple equine with a soaking wet mane and a wet bag of food.It is your old companion, Twilight Sparkle. “I got some groceries for us that I found on the street. Well, not literally on the street.” She chuckled. You smile while nodding your head back in forth in slight embarrassment from her joke. Twilight blushes with embarrassment along with you. “May I come in?” Twilight grinned. “Sure.” You say happily. Twilight smiles with gleefulness as you gesture to the inside of your house. She then starts trotting silently inside with the bag grasped in her mouth in triumph, when all of a sudden, a loud boom of thunder shouts across the sky, causing her to pick up the pace. “This storm sure is something else.” Twilight spoke as she placed the bag next to the chair you were sitting in earlier. You nod your head in agreement as you sit back into your chair. The show had seemed to switch to commercials now. You then turn off the TV in disappointment and look outside to see the rain pour on the ground. “Did I interrupt something?” Twilight asked curiously as she stood next to you. “Nah, I just hate that commercial.” You explain. Twilight nods her head in understanding. She then picks up the bag laid beside you and starts grinning in delight. “Ready to eat some dinner? I know it may be a little bit late, but I'm starving!” Twilight mumbled through the plastic. You nod in agreement as you and Twilight head into the kitchen and sit down at the table. You then watch silently in slight anticipation as Twilight pours the contents of the bag onto the table, which revealed a block of cheese and canned goods. You and Twilight then stare at the food silently with a satisfied gaze. “It's not a meal fit for a princess, but it's decent.” Twilight cooed as she levitated a can. You nod with acceptance as you reach for the cheese. You then break the cheese into two with your hands and you give twilight one of the halves. “Thank you.” Twilight smiled shyly as you placed the cheese in front of her. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning lit up the sky as thunder rumbled above your heads, causing Twilight to flinch in surprise. You both wait in silence as you see the lights above your heads flicker on and off mockingly. “Kindergarten books!” Twilight mumbled once the lights went off. “I'll go get the flashlight.” You said boldly as you got up from the table. You then walk out of the kitchen and toward the nearby closet, where you open it to find a single flashlight on the lowest shelf. You then grab the flashlight and turn it on in surprise to find out that it's still working. You then close the door to the closet and you head straight back into the kitchen where you find Twilight staring out the window in the dark. “We might want to head somewhere safer.” Twilight whispered with a hint of anxiety. You raise your eyebrow in question as you near toward your pony friend. You then gaze out the window in fear to see a humongous nearby storm cloud dip low to the ground. A tornado is about to touch down. Your mind then drifts to the basement, the best place for you and Twilight to stay. “Let's go, Twilight.” You say quickly. Twilight looks back at you with a confused look as you walk out of the kitchen with the flashlight shining it's light in your path. She then slowly starts to follow you as you open the front door to the house and start walking outside. “Are we going to the basement?” Twilight spoke behind you as the rain poured down on the two of you. You nod your head back to her in assent as you and her near a door that is planted into the ground. You reach for the handle, but you cease in surprise to see purple magic lift the door open before your eyes. You look back at Twilight and you give her a nod of gratitude. She then smiles in reply as the two of you step quickly into the basement. You then close the door quickly behind her while inhaling a musty odor. You realize that the basement you are in reeks, but a sudden boom of thunder quickly reminds you why you have sought shelter here. “Hey, can you shine some light down here?” Twilight asked politely. “Sure.” You say calmly as you shine the light down onto the basement floor. Twilight smiles with appreciation as you and her step quietly down into the musty basement, guided by the glow of your flashlight. Once you and her reach the stone floor, you decide to sit down on the bare stone. Twilight trots up to you and grins as she sits beside you, her mane soaking wet. The loud sound of rain pouring on the roof seems to have increased now, but it's sound is still soothing to you and Twilight. “It's not so bad.” Twilight whispers to you. Suddenly, a loud blast of thunder booms across the sky, causing Twilight to leap from her spot and to hug your shoulders in fear, causing you to sit up straight in surprise. Another loud boom of thunder erupts from the sky, causing twilight to hug your neck in fear. You then smile with happiness as she nuzzles your neck, as if she trusts you that you will keep her safe. “We'll protect each other.” Twilight whispers as she unfolds her wings and makes them surround you. You grin with happiness as you pet Twilight slowly behind the ear. The storm may have not have been treating you so well, but at least you had your best friend with you. “Thanks, Twilight.” You say happily. “You're welcome." Twilight replied with a grin.
