> One Trick Pony > by Saphin > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Entries 1-5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Journal Entry 1 Hello Journal! I've decided to keep a log of my rise to fame as the most incredible unicorn to ever perform in all of Equestria. It will be a nice reminder of my humble beginnings when I'm famous and everypony loves and adores me! I suppose I should start by introducing myself. I'm Trixie, The One and Only! I've studied magic for as long as I can remember. I even taught myself a bunch of new tricks. I'm certain I'm ready to become the performer I was born to be, even though my teachers at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns keep telling me I have so much yet to learn. They say despite my obvious talent I should stay in Canterlot and study some more. I just want to go out and show everypony what I can do! That's why I doing my first show tomorrow! It's just a small act in the student lounge. I'll show all the ponies a few of the tricks I've taught myself. I'm certain it will go well, then I'll have a bunch of friends! Until tomorrow! Love ya! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 2 Hello journal. My first performance went horribly! Everyone laughed when I goofed up on spell number three! It was so embarrassing! The worst part is, some of my EX-classmates were at the show. They were laughing the loudest. I'm feeling really down. But I won't give up! Trixie, The One and Only doesn't give up! She presses on and proves to those, those NEIGH-sayers that she can perform feats of magic SO spectacular that they are not to be believed! I'm already working on small spell involving a rope. That aught'a teach those hecklers! Until tomorrow! Love ya! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 3 Hi Journal! I've done it again! I've set up another performance! It's at a small sweet shop at the edge of town. I'll show them this time! Trixie, The One and Only, will astound their little pony minds! I'm sure I'll be a success and I'll make lots of friends! I just have to work a bit more on spell number three. Until tomorrow! Love ya! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 4 Hi journal! I screwed up big time! I was up all night practicing for my big show today that I was so exhausted and fell asleep in the middle of my performance! I was booed off the stage! I don't think I can suffer any more embarrassment! That's why, starting tomorrow, Trixie, The One and Only, will be heading out into this wide world of Equestria! I'll be on the road from now on until I'm famous enough to retire! I won't be coming back to Canterlot until I have something substantial to brag about. Then I'll show those foals who is lame! I'll be leaving at night so no one will notice I'm gone till morning. Until next time, journal! Love you! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 5 I know its been a while journal, but I've been busy, moving non-stop to get away from everyone and everything I ever knew. I don't want my parents to know where I am, they'll just tell me to come home. I'm currently in a small town north of Canterlot called Bridleton. Not sure where that is. It's so flank backwards up here! It's such a small town and they have to grow most of their food in a greenhouse. I guess it's because they're so far north nothing grows easily. There's not much here but It's a nice place to stop for a while before I head further north to Stalliongrad. Oh yeah! I learned a new trick today! I call it the Animated Light spell! It's really more of a copy spell. It doesn't actually bring the light to LIFE but duplicates the intensity and luminosity of the light into a corporal form I can then manipulate with basic telekinesis! It doesn't duplicate the chromatic variation yet, but I'll work on that. I think I'll try performing a show here in this backwater village before I leave. Until tomorrow! -Trixie, The One and Only! > Entries 6-10 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Journal Entry 6 I couldn't wait until tomorrow! I had to write down how excited I am! I just got off stage after the most AMAZING performance of my ENTIRE LIFE! Well, of course it's amazing, I've only performed a few times, but still! They loved it! I even screwed up with my fireworks spell and they didn't notice! I really was born to do this! I told them I'd be back someday to perform again! I can't wait! I signed a parchment for a small shop keeper. Told her it'll be worth a million bits one day! I'm so excited I doubt I could sleep! This is terrible, but in a good way! I have to catch a train early tomorrow! See ya Journal! Love ya! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 7 I'm writing this from the train! I couldn't sleep at all last night! I'm so excited I'll be in Stalliongrad in a few hours! I can feel this small knot of anticipation in my stomach! I'm so nervous! I hope they like me there. I hear the ponies in Stalliongrad all have beards and mustaches. EVEN THE MARES! Maybe I'll pull a prank and turn all their beards green with spell number five! I'm also a little bit tired. I should rest up before I get there. I don't want another repeat of my sweet shop show in Canterlot. I'll let you know how it goes, journal! Much love! -Trixie, The One and Only! Journal Entry 8 It didn't go well. They weren't impressed by ANY of my tricks! I even did the Animate Light spell but they just yawned! The only time they laughed was when my conjured lighting bolt struck me by mistake. I hate Stalliongrad! I hope I never see this stupid place again! I'm going to Manehatten! They say if you can make it there you can make it anywhere! It's a few towns out so it'll give me a chance to practice up a bit before I head there. til then, journal Trixie, The One and Only miserable pony. Journal Entry 9 Hi Journal. It's a been a few days. Truthfully, I didn't want to write in you anymore. I almost thought about going back home and giving up for a bit there, but I didn't. I read my second entry and it renewed me with a new sense of purpose! I can do this! I am Trixie, The One and Only! I stopped in Trottawa for a bit and tried my hoof at another performance. It didn't end well. No one applauded and no one cared. I kept screwing up, too! A few ponies approached me after the show and said they liked it, but I could tell they were just being nice. Anyways, I guess that's it, journal. Until next time. -Trixie, The One and Only. Journal Entry 10 I screwd up my Animate Light spell. It accidentally smashed a few windows out of the small hall I was performing in. All the ponies in town were mad about it. Apparently they were important stained glass windows of Princess Celestia saving them from some peril. It's not like I MEANT to break them! They told me to pay for the windows but I'm running low on bits and rations. I left town in the middle of the night. I also had to stow-away on this train. I hope no one discovers me. I hope things turn around for me soon, journal -Trixie, The One and Only vagabond. > Entries 11-15 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 11 Another uninspired performance by Trixie, The One and Only! Most of the crowd left before my big finale! I've been working on a light show to use as part of my performance. The inn keeper let me stay free of charge for the performance. I couldn't look him in the eye after the show. I could feel the tears ready to burst! I just said thanks and went to my room. I'm leaving in the middle of the night again. I don't want to see the old colt who runs this inn again. I'll just cry, I know it! Trixie, The One and Only does NOT cry! She's strong! At least I didn't screw up my performance this time. -Trixie, The One and Only runaway. Entry 12 I'm just two towns away from Manehatten. I tried to sneak on the train but they caught me. I told them I just hadn't gotten around to getting my ticket and paid for one right then and there. I'm almost out of bits and almost out of rations. The train food is terrible. -Trixie, The One and Only unsuccessful train hopper. Entry 13 Here I am, one town away from Manehatten and I'm already out of luck! Trottingham. Almost as cosmopolitan as Manehatten! I've been asking all the venues around trying to find somepony who will let me perform. I'm two rejections away from just finding a soap box and a corner! I'll look like some kind of lecturing lunatic! -Trixie, The One and Only raving lunatic! Entry 14 Surprise surprise! I screwed up again! I was run out of town for accidentally starting a fire at one of Hoity Toity's shops! How was I supposed to know that runway I found just LYING there belonged to somepony! It was perfect for my show too! Same with those curtains; I didn't know they were THAT flammable. But here I am, RUN out of town! They stopped chasing me a mile or so back but I kept running. Its muddy and raining right now. I'm not even sure if I'm headed in the right direction of Manehatten! I wouldn't be surprised if I screwed that up too! -Trixie, The One and Only screw up! Entry 15 Journal. I have a confession to make. I'm not a very popular pony. Even back in Canterlot, none of my class mates liked me. I never got invited to parties, sleep overs, study sessions, nothing! They'd turn away from me in the halls and in the courtyard. I always had to study by myself! You're my only friend, journal. Mom and dad probably don't even notice I'm gone! I bet they're just going to work everyday like nothing happened! Always too busy with royal duties and magical research for the Equestrian guard to care about their only daughter, Trixie! Trixie, The One and Only forgotten pony! I don't know why I'm writing this to you journal. Maybe I just want someone to know who I was before... I can't even write it... I'm so cold, and so hungry. > Entries 16-20 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 16 Well guess what journal. We didn't make it to Manehatten. SHOCKER! We went the wrong way! I bought a bit of hay to stay fed a bit longer. My old cloak is all dirty and soaked from the mud last night. I need a new one. There's a really fancy looking cape and hat in the store window right now. I want to buy it but if I do I'll be out of bits. Maybe it'll turn my luck around? Who am I kidding. -Trixie Entry 17 Exciting news journal! I've prolonged my journey just a bit more! I decided to buy the outfit I saw in the window! After some haggling with the shopkeeper I managed to convince him to give me the hat and cape for MUCH less than he was asking for! I still gave up all my bits for it, but it was worth it! As I was leaving the shop some colts tried to make fun of me. The one was all like, "Are you a wizard?" And I was all like "Yes. I'm a Great wizard! Greatest in all of Equestria!" They didn't believe me so I used my rope trick and tied them up and left them there! A young mare across the street saw me doing this and started to laugh! She said it was the best trick she'd ever seen! Her name is Lucky Swirl! She's even letting me stay at her place! I told her all about how I want to be a performer and she agreed to help me set up a stage in the town park tomorrow! Journal, I think Trixie is going to be a household name! I don't want to get too excited but it's been so long since someone noticed my talents! So excited for tomorrow! -Trixie, The Great Wizard! Entry 18 Trixie, The Great Wizard is a hit! Everypony loved it! The way they cheered and awed at my performance! I didn't even screw up once! There was a few hecklers but I quickly silenced them with a basic color changing spell. Green manes and tails are in this season, I hear. Tee-hee! The mayor even paid me for my extraordinary show! She liked the show so much, she asked if I could do a repeat performance tomorrow! I told her it might cost a bit more since I'll have to reschedule my appearance in Manehatten because of it. SHE AGREED! Lucky Swirl took me out to celebrate! She showed me her favorite drink, smoothies with extra hay! It was so delicious I could just melt drinking it! Today has been the best day of my entire life! Journal. We're going places! -Trixie, The Great Wizard! Entry 19 Another amazing performance! Less hecklers than before but everypony stuck around for the fireworks show at the end! I booked my ticket on the train for Manehatten the next day. Showbiz sure does pay well! A few days ago I could only DREAM of riding first class, now its nothing! I think this hat and cape are lucky! I can do no wrong! Lucky Swirl is acting a little weird. I'll talk to her before I go. I'm so happy I made at least one friend on my amazing journey! Trixie out! Entry 20 Leaving was harder than I though this time. Lucky Swirl gave me a large diamond brooch for good luck. It's really quiet beautiful. I told her to come with me but she said he had to stay behind. I promised her I'd come back and visit her someday when I'm famous and loved by everypony! Then we'll hang out all the time! I'll never forget that town! Come to think of it, I don't know where that was! I'll have to ask somepony when I get off the train. Manehatten here we come! -Trixie, The Great Wizard! > Entries 21-25 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 21 Well, I'm here. I'm doing good. Not great, but not bad. The crowds are so much harder to please in these big cities. You need to have thick skin for this, that's for sure! I feel so bad though, I snapped at one pony at the show tonight. I got so frustrated with her heckling that I zapped her with my lightning bolt cloud. It got a good laugh out of everypony! Well, everypony except her. The pay's good though, but everything is so much more expensive here! I'll have to see if I can make food and smoothies with extra hay a part of my performance contract from now on. -Trixie, The Great Wizard! Entry 22 What do you think of my stage name, journal? Is Trixie, The Great Wizard too awkward? I only ask because I was approached by an agent after the show. He said I'd get more work if I changed my name to something like The Great Trixie or something like that. Hmmm. I'll think about this some more. The Great Trixie. Entry 23 Wow it has been a while! I almost forgot about you! Trixie has been so busy performing and amazing the crowds of onlookers that I scarcely remembered I had you! But don't you fret journal of mine! The Great Trixie is still here for you! Speaking of "still here," I've been lingering in Manehatten too long. I've decided its time for The Great Trixie to start traveling again! I've booked my ticket already! The Great Trixie heads out tomorrow! Entry 24 Well, this is a bit embarrassing. Apparently I have too much stuff to travel by train anymore. I had to cancel my ticket. They wanted to charge me a fee for canceling last minute, but I didn't pay it. I'm The Great Trixie! I have fans and loyalists who would object to such treatment of the greatest wizard in all of Equestria! I guess I'll just have to find a way to compact my magic act and bring it all with me. Entry 25 I know its late but The Great Trixie has been struck with GENIUS! I figured out how to take all my magic act with me AND my home as well! I've already come up with some basic sketches for a traveling stage and dressing room that combine into one. I'll take the sketches to the nearest inventor I can find first thing in the morning! I just had to write this down so I don't forget before morning. > Entries 26-30 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 26 Well my traveling stage will be ready in two weeks. Looks like The Great Trixie will have to entrain the masses of Manehatten for a while longer. Maybe I'll only do reserve shows. After all, I have to keep the prestige up! What will I do to pass the time here? -The Great Trixie Entry 27 Its raining here. I don't have anything to do except sit inside and watch the rain fall on my window. Manehatten is so boring once you've done everything. I was going to work on a new spell but my repertoire of spells seems to be enough to entertain the masses. Why is Manehatten SO BORING! -The Great and BORED Trixie! Entry 28 I was re-reading my past entries. WOW I was so sappy! I can't believe I used to call myself Trixie, The One and Only! No wonder no one liked my earlier shows! That name doesn't have enough DRAW! Enough PIZAZZ! I also forgot about Lucky Swirl. I should write her and let her know how I'm doing. Too bad I'm leaving Manehatten in a few days. I'd invite her up to visit. Oh well. Onwards to brighter futures! -The Great Trixie! Entry 29 My traveling stage/home works like a charm! Well, of course it does - I designed it! I'm on the road to Hoofington right now, I had to stop in a small city somewhere around Cloudsdale. I wish I could perform in Cloudsdale. Can you imagine? The Great Trixie showing off her spells to all those pegasi? I bet I could even draw a bigger crowd than The Wonderbolts! Wouldn't that be something! To see the sour looks on their faces as everypony admires The Great Trixie and NOT them? I have a show to put on in a few minutes so I have to end this here. -The Great Trixie! Entry 30 Oh boy am I in trouble. I got to Hoofington and it was EMPTY! I thought maybe it became a ghost town and nopony knew! It wasn't until I ran into some cowering villagers that I found out they have an Ursa problem! An Ursa Major has been terrorizing the village! That stupid mayor also roped me into helping them! He tricked me, I tell you! He found out I was a great wizard and insisted I help! I don't even know WHY I agreed! I said I could handle any Ursa, Major OR Minor! Oh that's so stupid of me! I've never even SEEN an Ursa! What am I going to do? Maybe I'll just wait until night and sneak off before they even notice. That's what I'll do. I don't want to abandon them, but nopony and I mean NOPONY can handle an Ursa Major! > Entries 31-35 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 31 Oh journal, you WON'T Believe this! I tried to sneak out at night, but those dumb villagers cornered me and forced me to investigate the forest where the Ursa was living. Naturally they forced me to go alone, which actually worked out for the better. At the time I was scared but thats when I came across it. The dreaded "Ursa Major!" As it turns out, it was nothing more than a common binturong! It was a bit bigger than any binturong that I've seen but it was harmless! I put on a big fireworks display and chased it around with some lightning for a bit. I think I scared it off. Afterward I returned triumphantly from the forest to the awaiting crowd. Their jaws slack with awe as I recounted my harrowing tail with the terrifying Ursa Major! They said I must be really powerful to deal with an Ursa Major. I told them I am not only Great, but I am Powerful as well! They had a feast to celebrate my victory. I was, of course, the guest of honour. I insisted on a smoothie with extra hay for my efforts. The ponies of Hoofington will owe me for years to come! I still don't know what a binturong was doing this far west. I doubt it will come back. Even if it does I won't. I'm far to great and powerful to stay in this one horse town. The Great and Powerful Trixie. I like that... Entry 32 Come one! Come all! Come and witness the amazing magic of The Great and Powerful Trixie! I'm a smash hit! All across Equestria the reviews are in! The Great and Powerful Trixie and her show stopping talent are not to be missed! Not my words! Some writer for some local paper in the town I'm in. I forget where I am now. Not that it matters. Trixie is adored no matter where she goes. You have no idea what this is like! I feel so alive when I'm on stage! A few simple magic tricks and the crowd is blown away! I don't even have to try anymore! The Rush of excitement I feel whenever somepony recognizes me! I don't want this feeling to ever end! -The Great and Powerful Trixie. Entry 33 I've done a round circuit now! Only a few small towns I haven't visited. I was hoping to make it to this years Summer Sun Celebration to perform. Wouldn't that be something? The Great and Powerful Trixie working along side the only other pony of equal magical skill, Princess Celestia! I bet if Trixie played her cards right, the Princess might even teach me how to raise the sun like she does. But instead Trixie got stuck in Appleoosa! What rotten luck! Trixie missed the last train to Ponyville by only a few minutes! They said the next would run first thing in the morning. It seems like it took morning FOREVER to come too! Maybe I'll skip Ponyville for now and come back later. What could that backwater town possibly offer Trixie? Maybe I'll stop in on Trottingham and give those stuffy noponies a show they won't forget. -The Great and Powerful Trixie! Entry 34 More rave reviews of The Great and Powerful Trixie! I'm gathering quiet a following! All my admirers shower me with attention and adoration wherever I go. And of course I'm always willing to accept gifts from the fans. Smoothies with extra-hay taste even better when you don't have to pay. The story of the dreaded Ursa Major draws in the biggest crowds. I spiced it up a bit for the show of course. A little embellishment never hurt anypony. After all, what they don't know won't hurt them. Well, I have a pony pedi in a hour and I don't want to be late for my pampering. It had better be on the house. -The Great and Powerful Trixie! Entry 35 The Great and Powerful Trixie is headed for that backwater burg of Ponyville. According to what I'm told is a very reliable source, Princess Celestia seems to frequent this town a lot. Maybe if Trixie were to hang around Ponyville a bit she might meet the Princess and get a royal audience. After all, Trixie deserves royal attention just as much as any other pony. I can see it now. The Great and Powerful Trixie in her triumphant return to Canterlot, performing in the royal court! All the snobs and so-called "cultured" ponies watching as Trixie performs the most spectacular feats of magic ever witnessed by pony eyes! Yes! First, Ponyville. Then Equestria! -The Great and Powerful Trixie! > The Second Journal Entries 1-5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 1 The shame! The horror! The Embarrassment of it all! The Great and Powerful Trixie, RUN out of town by some stuffy know-it-all unicorn! If it weren't for those two numb skulled colts, I could be enjoying the royal treatment in Ponyville! Why did they bring an Ursa to town! That's just insane! Nopony can be THAT dumb! They must've all planned it and been working with that show stealing unicorn! I MAY have let it slip that I never REALLY defeated an Ursa before. I hope that doesn't get out. I lost my last journal when the Ursa smashed my home. I can hardly believe that was just a baby. Biggest baby ever! Oh it just makes my blood boil! I HATE Ponyville! I HATE those two colts and I HATE that STUPID UNICORN! Entry 2 I decided I won't let this minor setback ruin me. The Great and Powerful Trixie is NOT one to be trifled with! I've already acquired the means to replace my old stage/home. I'll be back on my hooves and performing in no time! I just need a replacement hat and cape. I wish I remembered what town it was I got my last hat and cape. Why didn't I sneak back into Ponyville at night to retrieve my journal? I'm sure I wrote it down in there! I just know it! I wouldn't leave out an important detail like that! I need to start performing again soon or I'll run out my savings. Entry 3 The Great and Powerful Trixie, A SHAM!? I stopped in Trottingham and set up a show at a small boutique just inside the city limits. Apparently word has come from Ponyville about my little embellishment regarding previous encounters with Ursa Majors. I don't know how word reached here so quickly; it's only been a few days since I left! They had the audacity to boo me off stage! This kind of performance could do horrible things to my reputation! I may have to change my name to save face. But I LIKE The Great and Powerful Trixie! She's "Great"! And "Powerful"! -Trixie Entry 4 I've been moving further and further away from Ponyville in hopes to outrun those nasty rumors! They're saying The Great and Powerful Trixie lies about everything! I even heard somepony say The Great and Powerful Trixie once HIT a filly just to laugh at her! I've never laid a hoof on anyone so young! And I certainly wouldn't laugh at them after! I'm getting more and more frustrated with my shattered image as of late. Maybe I'll take stock of my bits and lay low for a while. Someplace north. Further north than Bridleton. Further north than Stalliongrad! Is there even life that far north? -Trixie! Entry 5 I'm very far north now. I haven't performed since I got here and non of the ponies here recognize me. I feel so pedestrian! Don't they know who I am? They should be showering me with attention and adoration! But instead I have to feign like I'm some commoner! They've been really kind at least. A young earth pony set me up in a small apartment that I share with a pegasus. She talks an awful lot about herself and how much she loves writing. I told her when I become famous I'll let her write my biography. She laughed. I was serious. When I'm famous again and there's many books written about my wondrous exploits I'll have her write my biography. I'll leave out that nasty bit about the "Ursa Major" this time... -The Common, (but still Great and Powerful) Trixie > The Second Journal Entries 6-10 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 6 Trixie has the most annoying roommate ever! I was studying up on some old spells and trying to learn some new tricks for my comeback when in walks Scribbler! Apparently she was looked over as a freelance writer for some paper in Canterlot; Equestria, something-or-other. I wasn't paying attention. I just nodded and kept trying to study. I must've read the same page a hundred times because by the time Scribbler FINALLY left me in peace I was on the same spell and didn't remember reading ANY of it! Oh well, it was some lame spell that made ponies grow facial hair. Who would waste their time with such a useless spell!? -The Great and Powerful Trixie (wants to strangle her roommate!) Entry 7 Trixie has been here two weeks and already she feels she knows Scribbler BETTER than she knows herself! Scribbler won't stop talking about herself! Is there anything more annoying than a self-important pony? Lets see, since this morning Trixie's learned that: Scribbler is a pegasus from Mountreal (a city not far from Bridleton apparently), her family travelled a lot when she was little, her father was a traveling salespony and her mother didn't work, she wants to be a famous journalist, she loves scary stories, she hates her job (selling celery stalks at a vegetable cart in the town market), she's a klutz, she finds critters icky (I'll be using that to my advantage later), oh and she NEVER STOPS TALKING! If Trixie doesn't get out of here soon she won't be held responsible for what might happen! -The Great and ANNOYED Trixie! Entry 8 The Great and Powerful Trixie decided to put on a show today. Or at least, she tried to. The vendors said the soonest I could use their venue for performing would be in a months time - maybe longer! At this rate I'll run out of bits for sure! At least Scribbler is out. Maybe I can use this time to catch up on all those spells I've been meaning to try? -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 9 Scribbler came home in tears last night. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. Apparently some stallions in town were picking on her. Trixie has never felt worse for wishing bad things to happen to somepony. Seeing Scribbler crying there, helpless and hurt, reminded Trixie of her earlier days when she started performing. It made Trixie wish she could do something to help her. To comfort her. Then, Trixie had a plan! The Great and Powerful Trixie is performing tomorrow, and she's put together a few new spells to deal with show-boating unicorns. Trixie gave Scribbler a ticket to the show - someplace in the back so she can observe unseen. Trixie told her it would make her feel all better tomorrow. And then Trixie sent the two stallions that tormented poor Scribbler two tickets to the show. Front row seats of course. -The Great and Scheming Trixie Entry 10 Trixie's plan went off without a hitch. As expected the two stallion's showed up and started to heckle Trixie. Nothing Trixie wasn't used to already. So I decided to give THEM a shot at the limelight! Show them it wasn't as EASY as they thought! Trixie challenged them to a simple game. Whoever could magically lift a small ball through a magic glowing hoop with greater ease was the winner. They didn't know what was coming. They struggled and couldn't lift the tiny tiny ball with very much ease at all! The crowd laughed and jeered! It might've helped if Trixie hadn't enchanted the ball to weigh as much as the stallions themselves. And if that wasn't enough, Trixie used her animate-light spell to shrink and move the goal. Oh how everypony laughed at them. Oh! This is my favorite part! They started to blame each other! They even started to fight! It was priceless! Two grown stallions bucking at each other and trying to knock each others teeth out! Well, the owner of the venue wasn't too pleased with this, but the show was a success anyway! Trixie collected her generous pay and left. Scribbler was so happy to see those two stallions making foals of themselves! She thanked Trixie for everything. Well Journal, that's enough bragging about my wonderful show for now. It's time Trixie left this one-horse town! -The Great and Powerful Trixie (is back!) > The Second Journal Entries 11-15 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 11 If feels so good to be back on the road! Unchained, no one holding me back, no where is off limits! Well, almost no where. Ponyville, Canterlot, and Hoofington are still on my "Do Not Perform" list. One day I'll go back to Ponyville and put those show-boaters in their place! No one upstages The Great and Powerful Trixie! I'm almost at the next town. I'll be settling there for a week before I move onto Fillydelphia. Oh Celestia, it feels good to be on the road again! -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 12 I just got off stage. I should be thrilled - the performance was amazing. All the ponies were hooked on my every word. They watched in awe at the incredible feats of magic I preformed. But I can't help but feel like I've done this all before. In this town, too. A pony bought me a Smoothie with extra hay after the show. I didn't even ask for it, she just brought it to me. Another Unicorn. She looked sad. I asked her what was wrong but she just smiled and said it was nothing before walking away. She looked really familiar. Everything about this town feels familiar. And sad. I don't think I'll be staying the week. -The Confused and Uneasy Trixie Entry 13 Finally The Great and Powerful Trixie has made it to Fillydelphia. If Trixie had to describe it in one word, it would be bohemian. Trixie feels a little out of place but accepted at the same time. Trixie performed immediately upon arrival and they all loved it. The pay wasn't what Trixie is normally used to. It was small sum of bits and mostly free stuff like free drinks, free food, and a place to stay-of which Trixie told them she has no use. Trixie will be leaving here shortly. Trixie doesn't perform for chump change! -The Disillusioned and Disappointed Trixie Entry 14 The Great and Powerful Trixie has found a rather unusual locale to perform in. While in Fillydelphia Trixie was told there was a small pony settlement up north. It was the furthest pony settlement. Population barely numbering in the 100s. Trixie decided to grace these poor unfortunate ponyfolk with her presence. Imagine my surprise when Trixie found herself in a Griffon settlement instead! Oh it was awkward at first, but a few of the Griffon's took a liking to The Great and Powerful Trixie! As it turns out the town was originally settled by ponies but they left over the years to towns with climates better suited to them. The Griffons slowly moved in over time. The high mountain climate is easier for them to adjust to. Trixie wasn't scared. Not even for a little bit! But since there's no ponies here Trixie will be leaving immediately. -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 15 I am exhausted. After a long travel east from that creepy Griffon settlement I arrived in Canterlot. I know I didn't mean to come back here this soon, but it couldn't be helped. There was only one road between here and that feather filled frontier. Everything feels foreign somehow. I walk around Canterlot, up and down streets I know better than the back of my hoof, but it's like I've never been here before. Nothing's changed. I just don't feel right being here. I made sure to avoid my neighborhood. I didn't want to run into my parents. I stopped by Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. I walked around the palace courtyard. All the younger unicorns studying made me wish I was a filly again. Then I could curl up with a spell book and study like I used to. I saw somepony I knew; I didn't say hi. I didn't stay in Canterlot. I found a small cottage outside Canterlot on a hill overlooking Ponyville. I'm staying the night here. An older couple own the cottage and shared their food with me and let me eat with them tonight. I showed them a few tricks for their hospitality. I'll be leaving first thing in the morning. But first, Trixie needs her beauty sleep. -The Great and Exhausted Trixie > The Second Journal Entries 16-20 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 16 My my my! What a whirlwind of activity the Great and Powerful Trixie has been on. She's performed several shows at several towns and cities over the last several days! The Great and Powerful Trixie has been far too exhausted to write in her journal. But that won't stop her from keeping a humble account of her life. Trixie finds it keeps her grounded to look over her journal from time to time. But alas, free time is stretched thin and Trixie has places to be, ponies to see, and miles to go before she can rest. -Trixie Entry 17 The Great and Powerful Trixie has stopped in Manehatten. I've already done a several successful and outstanding performances. With each performance The Great and Powerful Trixie outdoes herself! Rave reviews from all the journalists. Trixie's shows have sold out all across Manehatten and even out sold some shows Photo Finish is putting on. Rumor mill says she's now looking for the next greatest fashion trend of Equestria! Trixie doesn't want to brag, but nopony shines in the spotlight like The Great and Powerful Trixie. Maybe I should drop her a line. -The Great and Glamourous Trixie! Entry 18 Apparently Photo Finish doesn't know grace and elegance when she sees it! She turned down The Great and Powerful Trixie saying I didn't have "The Magics!" How dare she! Trixie has more "magics" in her rear hoof than Photo Finish has in her entire body! I won't lie. I had to restrain myself from using my lightning bolt on her! Maybe next time Trixie will give into temptation! -The Great and Magical Trixie Entry 19 Trixie has been thinking. Her act seems a bit stale. Its about time Trixie spruced it up with some Greater and more Powerful magic! But where can Trixie find such magic tricks to preform? I'll have to scope out nearby libraries and book shops for more spell books. Trixie is certain she'll find something new. Until then Trixie's current repertoire of spells keeps the crowds happy. -Trixie Entry 20 My recent performance in Trottawa was abysmal! So many hecklers! Who knew a boring city like Trottawa had so many ponies with such good memories? Those old rumors of the Ursa Major came back tonight. Trixie did her best to deflect the comments and silence the hecklers, but I only have so much rope! Things were looking grim for a moment. Trixie cast several spells to animate a few tables and lights as well as a VERY fiery fireworks display to cause a distraction. In the midst of this chaos Trixie decided to slip out of town. Trottawa sucks anyway. -The Great and Powerful Trixie > The Second Journal Entries 21-25 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 21 Trixie needs to invest in a map of travel routes of Equestria. After my hasty good-bye from Trottawa, Trixie passed through several towns and ended up in Hoofington. I almost turned around and left but some of the townsfolk recognized me and called to me. I half expected them to throw tomatoes and start to yell and scream, but they asked me to retell my tale of the dreaded Ursa Major! I guess the truth hasn't reached them yet. Trixie dismissed them. I told them I was far too exhausted to perform feats beyond imagination. If I was feeling up to it, I'd tell them tomorrow. That'll buy me some time to think of a way out of this. I have to stop writing here. Some pony is knocking at the door. I'll finish this later. -Trixie Entry 22 My late visitor just left. Some young filly named Limelight that wants to be a performer like The Great and Powerful Trixie. She wanted advice on how to start. I told her to come up with a stage name. Something like, The Amazing and Wonderful Limelight! - But not that! I also told her to always cover her tracks! You never know when some mistake you made will come back and haunt you! Then she asked if she could travel with me and watch me perform, just to learn. I didn't know what to say. It was the first time anyone wanted to come with me anywhere. I tried to think of a reason why I shouldn't let her but I couldn't think of anything. I agreed to let her follow and help with audience wrangling, but forbid her from ever entering my home when I wasn't there! She agreed and was, of course, overjoyed to hear she could travel with The Great and Powerful Trixie, as any filly would be. I have a good feeling about this filly. I think she'll be quiet useful! -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 23 Trixie HATES Hoofington! They made me recount my tale with all seriousness! I hadn't thought of a suitable excuse and as much as I protested, tried to look humble, they forced Trixie to tell her story! As it turns out they all KNEW the Ursa Major story was a fake! They all laughed and mocked Trixie! I've never felt more like a foal in my entire life! I left immediately! I hope to never see Hoofington as long as I live! If it weren't for my new assistant I'd say NOTHING good came out of Hoofington! -The Great and Powerful Trixie! Entry 24 The Great and Powerful Trixie's Not-So-Great assistant botched my performance today! We stopped in a small village between Ponyville and Appleoosa to perform. I told my Limelight to rally a crowd, and what did the rabble rouser do? She gathered an angry mob! We were nearly run out of town! Thankfully we snuck back in and caught the train to Appleoosa. I had to pay for a private cabin to store my stage/home in. It almost didn't fit but with a little magic and some hard work I forced it. I wonder where my Limelight is? I haven't seen her since I got on the train. -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 25 Once again that useless upstart of a pony almost cost me my show! Luckily Trixie can turn a crowd on its heel with the greatest of ease! A few dazzling fireworks displays, a couple animated lights and a rope trick or two and they forgot all about my miserable excuse for an assistant. Trixie takes it back. Nothing good DID come out of Hoofington! I should send her packing! -The Angry and Agitated Trixie! > The Second Journal Entries 26-30 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 26 Trixie is not only Great and Powerful but forgiving too. My "assistant" broke down crying when I told her I should abandon her in Appleoosa. She begged for forgiveness and The Great and Powerful Trixie, in her infinite compassion, let her stay. But she has to work twice as hard now! Instead of wrangling crowds her duties are strictly to prepare food and smoothies with extra hay for after my performance, clean and reorganize my stage, and keep overzealous fans away from my home while Trixie rests. If she's required to, maybe remove undesirables from the audience. But I'll probably handle that myself. It's the best part of the job. Where does she keep getting off too anyway? -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 27 Trixie travels again! After a brief stay (not brief enough) in Appleoosa, Trixie and her sad excuse for an assistant, are back on the road. We've stopped in Trottingham but not to perform. Trixie was recognized when she stopped at a rather mediocre cafe for a meal out. You'd think traveling on the road I would eat out more, but because Trixie is home wherever she is, she makes most of her own meals. So a meal out every once in a while is still a treat. I don't know where Limelight is. I was going to get her to watch over the stage and to clean up for my next performance. She's not a clever pony at all, but she at least tries to do what she's told. My meal is here so I'll end this here. daffodils and hay, of course, with a smoothie with extra hay. -The Great and Powerful (and hungry) Trixie! Entry 28 Trixie's assistant is by far the most useless pony to ever live! Even the slowest of ponies can understand that a smoothie with extra hay requires EXTRA hay! She didn't clean the curtains of the stage properly and now they're stained from last weeks fireworks performance. Do you know how hard it is to clean dried magical firework residue from a curtain? VERY HARD! Trixie is at her wits end. Trixie should send her packing; she should tell her to just go! But to be completely honest, journal. She's good company. She may screw up everything but at least she's always there. Other than you, she's the only constant in Trixie's life. Sometimes its hard, always traveling, never in the same place long enough to make any real friends. I don't even remember why I'm performing anymore. I love the crowds and the cheering fans, but what will I do when I'm too old to perform? Or when some younger, smarter (as if!) pony starts to peddle their tricks? Will ponies forget Trixie? Will I be immortalized like all the other famous ponies in the statues of the Canterlot castle courtyard? Maybe I'll keep her around for a bit longer. -The Great and Compassionate Trixie! Entry 29 Trixie is such a LOSER! That's right! You're a LOSER, TRIXIE! I read your stupid diary while you were on stage! You are such a sap! I can't believe how SAD you are! I hope you're ALWAYS alone! Remember how you can never keep track of where I am? That's because I'm always rummaging through that HOVEL you call home! It's so gross there! Seriously, ever hear of hygiene? It REEKS of you're particular brand of FAILURE! I only joined you on your tour of failure to steal your tricks, but it became quickly apparent that even YOU barely know what you're doing! I thought maybe this book had some of your secrets in it - you take it with you everywhere! Except on stage. But what it really is, is just a sad collection of melodramatic memories of a pathetic OLD MARE! I hope you enjoy reading this you lay-about LOSER! I'm surprised all those smoothies you drink haven't gone straight to your flank! -You're wonderful and abused assistant, Limelight! P.S. Everypony hates you! I checked! Entry 30 Trixie takes back everything nice she ever said about that fraudulent filly! -The Hurt and Wounded Trixie > The Second Journal Entries 31-35 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entry 31 You know what? Trixie is a wonderful pony! She took that filly in when no one else would! Trixie TRIED to show her the ropes! She tried to show her the life of a traveling performer! She should be BEGGING for Trixie's forgiveness! How dare she vandalize my journal! Trixie should rip that page out and burn it! Trixie went out of her way to accommodate Limelight. Trixie even bought her a smoothie that one time-EVEN though she screwed up! The lengths that Trixie went to, to make her feel like she belonged! You were a TERRIBLE assistant, but Trixie put up with you anyway! You always caused trouble, you always brought the wrong crowds to the show and you never cleaned the stage like I asked! Go back to Hoofington you worthless, no-talent, lazy, useless, ugly foal! Trixie doesn't need you! Trixie doesn't need anyone! Trixie was better off when she was on her own! -The Great and Powerful Trixie! P.S. Trixie hopes you get mauled by an Ursa Major! Entry 32 Trixie didn't rip out that entry. She kept it as a reminder of how cruel and harsh others can be. It will forever serve as a reminder to Trixie that she can never trust another pony! They're all jealous of Trixie's obvious talents. Trixie just needed to cool off, so she headed to Stalliongrad again. It's too late at night to put on a show but first thing in the morning I'll gather a crowd and put on the BEST performance of my entire life! All the ponies of Stalliongrad will be amazed beyond amazement! -The Great and Powerful Trixie Entry 33 Well, it wasn't the best performance of my life, but everypony did like it. Very few hecklers this time around. I tied one up and zapped them with lighting for a particularly rude comment. That shut them all up. Apparently some ponies in the crowd remembered my first performance here in Stalliongrad. They told me I'd come a long way since then. I wish I hadn't lost my old journal. I'd like to go back to the start and read it over. I wonder how much I've changed since then. I wish there was some spell I could cast to go back and see myself in my previous glory days. Hmmm. Maybe I'll take some time off from performing feats of indescribable magic. -The Nostalgic and Pensive Trixie Entry 34 Journal, I've had you for just over a year now and I've not written in you nearly as much as I wrote in the last one I had. I'm sorry I didn't pay more attention to you. I'm especially sorry that louse wrote all those nasty things in you! But something interesting happened to Trixie today. I left Stalliongrad a few weeks ago and made a brief stop in Trotonto. I hadn't performed since the last time I wrote in you either, so when I got to Trotonto I found a small cafe and had a smoothie (extra hay, heh). I was sitting there lost in thought when two ponies came galloping over in excitement. Two fans I thought. As it turns out it was Scribbler and Lucky Swirl! After Lucky Swirl saw me last she set out on her own to see Equestria. On her journies she ran into Scribbler, my old roommate from up north. Apparently she's now a travel journalist, who knew? They became quick friends and started to travel together. They're in Trotonto for the week and insisted I spend time with them. The three of us sat down and talked for hours! We had fun and laughed and shared stories! I even told them of my unfortunate assistant. They were really supportive. I told them I was considering giving up performing to go back to Canterlot. Maybe I'd teach in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. They told me I couldn't give up, that my magic had brought hope to them and many other ponies they had met. Ponies still talk of The Great and Powerful Trixie! Her attitude and pizzaz! They love me! They even love the story of "The Dreaded Ursa Major!" I explained what had really happened but they didn't care. They said a little embellishment is nothing to be sorry for. Trixie has never felt more loved in all her days as a performer! They're taking me out to dinner tonight. I need to get ready. -The Great and Powerful (and loved) Trixie Entry 35 Scribbler and Lucky Swirl have left Trotonto now. Trixie will be leaving tomorrow as well. This past week has been the best in Trixie's entire life. Trixie, Scribbler, and Lucky Swirl spent every day together. We went to a museum of magical artifacts. Lucky Swirl was telling me about how some of the greatest spells of our time were penned by Starswirl The Bearded. She's really into obscure unicorn history. Scribbler was so bored! The next day we saw The Wonderbolts perform. Scribbler even scored an interview with one of them! Well, one of the reserve members. The ones that perform if the mane stuntsponies are injured or otherwise indisposed. But the most memorable was last night. They insisted I dress my finest and took me to some watering hole-in-the-wall. I didn't understand why they insisted we go so early, or why we had to go at all! It was not my kind of place, really. Then I saw the stage. They had set up a performance for me without my knowing! I freaked! I didn't have any of my stuff! I wasn't dressed in my performance outfit! I didn't know what to do! Trixie almost ran. They pushed me on stage. There was no turning back. And the performance was amazing! Mind blowing really! All the ponies clopped and cheered! A few rope tricks to start it off. I got a couple unfortunate volunteers from the audience who learned what they'd look like with green manes and one with a green coat. I recounted my harrowing tale of the Ursa Major in Hoofington! A conjured lighting bolt for atmosphere kept the ponies shaking in their little horseshoes till the grand finale! I put on a fireworks show like no other! I didn't hold back! And after it was all over Trixie got a rearing ovation! I've never been so happy in all my life! Today I said goodbye to my friends. They continued on their journey. We all agreed to meet here a year from now. Maybe I'll do a repeat performance. Tomorrow I set out to continue my Equestria-wide tour. All the pony towns, villages and cities will know The Great and Powerful Trixie! I'll even find a way to make it into Cloudsdale for a performance. I've been researching a rather tricky spell that grants temporary wings. But before all this happens. Trixie has one town she has to visit first. Tomorrow, Trixie heads for Ponyville. Only this time things will be very different. -The Great and Powerful Trixie!
