Prologue
Twilight was pacing around in the throne room waiting for her student. She had found out that he had went to an Ursa Major's cave and had gotten himself injured. As Twilight was pacing around the room, she heard a knock on the door.
"Your highness, Altair Machenry, has come to see you." said the guard on the other side of the door.
"Send him in!" ordered Twilight.
As the doors opened Twilight saw the state of her student. His green coat was covered in scratches and bruises. His mane was in no better shape, it was covered in dirt specks and looks like he hasn't brushed it for days. She saw that he had a bandage on his left hoof which was stained with blood. Altair hobbled into the room as the guards close the doors.
"Why did you go in there?" Altair was about a meter away from Twilight when she spoke.
Altair knelt before Twilight. "I had to do some research on Ursas."
"And where is your sister? Isn't she staying with you this week?" asked Twilight.
"She... didn't come with me, I went there with my own intentions so I take full responsibility of my actions."
There was a long pause before Twilight replied. "I don't like it when you lie to me, Altair... Why were you actually there? And where exactly is your sister?"
Altair didn't reply.
"I see. Well if you won't tell me then I'll just have to go to the Ursa Major's cave to see what happened then." Twilight started to head for the door until Altair spoke up.
"Wait!"
Twilight stopped in her tracks.
"I'll tell you..." Altair looked up at Twilight. Making his violet eyes meet hers. "I tell you what happened."
Twilight turned around to face her student. "Go on."
"What happened tonight..."
-Flashback-
"Come on Al, we can't back out now!" Faye pointed at the cave. "We're already at the entrance!"
"It's still dangerous!" replied Altair
Why did I agree to this again?
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?!"
"I said no!"
"PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE?!"
"NO, NO, NO AND NO"
"PLEASE BIG BROTHER?! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?!"
"OH MY CELESTIA! FINE LET'S GO!"
"Yay!" Faye began to jump excitingly. Making her pink hair bob up and down.
"Just stay behind me okay, Faye?"
"Faye?"
Altair looked around only to see his sister gone. Altair heard a roar coming from the inside of the cave and following the roar was a familiar sounding scream.
"AAH!!!"
"Oh no... FAYE!!!" Altair ran straight in to the Ursa Major's cave only to see his sister being held down by the Ursa Major's gigantic claws.
"Al...help..." Faye breathed out as the bears paws pushed down onto her chest.
"FAYE, HOLD ON I'M COMING!!!"
Altair charged at the Ursa while building up his magic power in his horn. He shot a beam at the Ursa's eyes which made it release it's grip of Faye as it clenched it's eyes in agony. It now has it's attention towards Altair and started to run towards him. Before Altair could charge up another attack the Ursa was already about to hit Altair.
Altair closed his eyes and was preparing for impact until he heard someone call his name.
"AL!!!"
*SMACK
Altair opened his eyes just in time to see a mint blur flying across the the dirt floor and into the cave walls.
"FAYE!!!" Altair ran over to his sister's still body and put up an invisible forcefield around them both so that the Ursa could not find them. He closed his eyes as he held his sister's body close to his and started to whimper.
"Al?..."
Altair's eyes opened in shock as he heard his sister talk.
"Faye?"
"It's...so...c-cold"
"Faye don't go, you'll be alright! Just hang on a bit lo-"
"Al?... Can I tell you something?..."
"W-what?"
"I've always wanted to go and meet new people..."
Altair stayed silent and listened to his sister.
"But I can't really meet new people after this can I? Hehe..."
"..."
"Can you do me a favor Al?"
"...What is it?"
"Meet new people...for me...Okay?"
"...O-okay"
"Pinkie...Promise?" Faye held out her hoof.
Altair locked his hoof with hers."I p-pinkie promise..."
Altair then felt his sister's body become limp and her cerulean eyes going blank.
"Faye? FAYE!!!" Altair felt tears rolling down his cheeks and anger boiling up inside him as well as sadness.
Altair placed Faye's now dead body onto the ground gently and lowered his forcefield. As soon as the Ursa saw him it started to run at him but this time was different. Altair's eyes were streaming with tears of anger and sadness as he was charging up.
"LIGHTNING BLAST!" Altair released his energy at the Ursa Major directly at his mouth.
The was a flash of white and the Ursa Major fell to the ground. Altair started to feel dizzy and fell to the ground.
-Flashback end-
"When I came to... I walked back to Canterlot Castle to get myself bandaged up..."
Twilight eyes were widened with shock when Altair had finished talking.
"A-Altair...I'm sorry... I didn't know..." Twilight tried to put her hoof around Altair but he pushed it away.
"I-I don't deserve any sympathy or kindness... Not after what I did..." Altair started to walk to the exit.
"Altair..." Twilight watched as her student walked out of the throne room with tears in his eyes.
