> Chapter 1: Rise of the Dire Army

"Where did HE GO?!?!" Dire raged and asked his advisers, swinging his saber. His advisers whimpered and tried to answer his master.
"He might fled to some city else, maybe some city with powerful allies, some place like..."

"Like what you fools! You think I would know?!?!" scold Dire, he pointed his saber at the advisers. "If you don't give me the answer, you'll die." Dire said cruelly. 

The adviser begged for his life, and Dire lift his saber, aiming for his adviser's neck, suddenly the main door burst open with the guard's falling to the ground, the guards were terribly wounded and one was killed.

"Lightning Blade is heading for Canterlot, spare his life." said a stranger approaching Dire.

"And who do you think you are, you killed my guards, and you expect me to believe you?"

"Yes, because if you don't, who else is going to tell you where is Lightning Blade?"

"Very well, then I shall trust you for once, but if you lie to me..."

Dire flew right behind the stranger and his saber out to his neck, and said "I won't hold back" His black and red mane flung as he flew to the stranger's side, dominating him with his size, aura flickered around his saber, readying to go for the kill.

The lord didn't know a short sword is pointed to his belly, and the stranger over skilled Dire. "Is that all you have, Dire Saber?"

Dire stood back and remembered that sword, Master Yin's dagger. "Well, well, if it isn't Master Yin, the Master Swords Stallion."

Master Yin took of his hood and grinned, "Dire... it seems like you have been busy..."  Master Yin's size is just slightly smaller than Dire, his pine gale fur matches with his silver mane, young, but actually he's 59985 years old, with magic, you can literally do anything.

Master Yin had taught Dire how to use sabers and swords since he was able to hold one, you can imagine the skills acquired to slaughter someone fast enough that the target can't even flinch, much less suffer. Dire took his master to a chamber nearby, and treated him as well as his guests.

"Master, will you help he destroy Canterlot and Lightning in it? It will raise our name and everyone will fear us, and we'll rule the world."

"I'm only here to give you advise, not to destroy, because you were my student, I shall help you but in the end, you would still have to face your enemy by yourself. "

"As you wish." then he called the guards, "Take good care of my master, and if you deceive or say something bad about him, you'll be executed, by him."

Dire sat on his throne and laughed cruelly, "In the end, all of Equestria shall bow before me, even you brother... muahahahaha"

Meanwhile in Canterlot, Lightning arrived crashing into the Night Court, hurt by his last fight with Dire. It shocked Princess Luna and she said in a worried tone. 

"Who are thee and why thee have so much bruises? "

Lightning rose weakly and said "Apologies.. my princess.. I'm Light....ning.... urgh...shit..."

Lightning fainted and the last thing he knew was brief images of the princess calling the guards. When he woke up, he saw an alicorn starring at him, he yelped and leaned back, "Where am I and who are you?" said Lightning.

"Thee is in our room silly" said Luna, her mane was flowing, but there was no wind there, her regalia shone in the dark room, and her appearance fascinated Lightning, since he never seen a mare holding a throne.  

"Thee, our ? Oh ancient accents. But where are my manners, I'm Lightning Blade, prince of Cyberio, and I need to talk to the alicorn in charge here ." Lightning said the wrong thing.

"Thee is looking at one of it"

"Oh, urm... sorry I didn't notice the horn because of your mane." Lightning lied, or is he?

"What is tis, an insult to my mane?"

"NO, no... its just... fine... I'll be honest... they’re a bit... attracting."

Silence filled the room and then Lightning asked.

"Where's my amulet? I need it... I... urgh... I can heal faster... with... it..." Lightning said growing weaker.

Luna gave him the amulet and said "Tis must be it correct?" Lightning nodded and worn it. A certain type of aura exploded out of the amulet and Lightning changed form, battle form. His armor shone and his bruises slowly recovered. His light blue and yellow mane and his fur is as white as the clouds makes him look like an sky guardian, and his eyes are stormy and yellow.

"Princess? Hello ?" 

"Yes, apologies, I'm Luna, Princess of the Night"

"I have a bounty on my head Princess Luna, I must go before I lure any assassins and... my brother."

"Tis brother of thy, who is it?"

"Dire Saber"

Luna immediately recognized the name and said,

"Tis must be announced immediately."

They both went to Princess Celestia's chamber, and told everything. "We must get ready for any attacks, call the guards to keep a look out, I want increase in security." said Celestia.

"I'm truly grateful Princess Celestia but I need to leave, I can't have Canterlot destroyed."

"You are wounded Lightning, you can't flee, much less fight."

Lightning stopped arguing and accepted the offer, Celestia then asked "Why are you not an alicorn? You are the prince of Cyberio right?"

"I'm not made to be one yet, my father gave Dire the position of the King, he was made an alicorn, I'm left behind."

"We thought that a kingdom or country can be rules by two alicorns is that not?" said Luna curiously. 

"No, only one king is allowed to rule Cyberio. And that is Dire. I'm just... I'm just a normal Pegasus."

"Thee have the tittle of a prince, don't hold despair in your thoughts."

"I hope I can change that, but unless I destroy him, he will not stop, until he gets me and anypony who supported me. Your lives are in danger my princesses, i think it'd rather be good if I left."

Silence then took over, the sisters too have nothing left to help but shield him, but clearly, he's not a coward, but a prince that desires freedom, and peace. Lightning flew out to the clear road and said "Stand back, i'm about to call a lightning to strike me, just to give me some boost of energy."

"What?!?!?! Tis is unacceptable, using lightning as a source of power is..."

Lightning ignored Luna's words and called a lightning strike, it shook the ground with so much force, the sisters are forced to hold onto the pillars. Lightning was fine, His wound healed faster and his armor electrified with aura never seen by alicorns in this part. His blades appeared and a horn was there, on his head. But when he turned back to a normal form, it was gone. The sisters now know that they're not holding the modern technology and knowledge, the Cyberians do, and are far more advance than them. Most importantly they have to worry about the incoming battle, of the strongest alicorns in Equestria. Will they be able to keep their kingdom safe or will it parish?

> Chapter 2: Brother and Sisterhood

Lightning came out from his room, energized after a good night sleep, he went out to the field, to stretch his wings. He flew around Canterlot and came back within 4 minutes, when he came back Luna and Celestia is already waiting for him in the dining room, he apologized and sat with them. "You look better Lightning." said Celestia.

"Yes, a good night sleep and an extra boost from the lightning strike, i'm better." said Lightning.

"Well the lightning strike might have scared our villagers in Ponyville, but we're glad to see thou active."

"Oh... about that... heh heh ..." Lightning's cheeks turned red.

They had breakfast silently, and the upcoming battle of Lightning and Dire might have put some pressure on the princesses, Lightning did an observation. The princesses carried on their daily activities. Luna however goes into her chamber and rested. Lightning asked Celestia " Why is she sleeping in the day?"

"Oh she guards the night,  and rests during the day."

Disappointment come to Lightning, he was about to repay Luna for taking care of him yesterday, but it seems like he's gonna have to wait till night time. Lightning explored the castle and greeted the guards, he found a dusty chamber it's named in ancient equestrian text, "Armory of the Lunar Stallions", he had an interest in it and entered. Different type of weapons hung on the wall and Lightning found some he liked, he picked it up and tried it. Time past fast when he tried every blade and daggers he liked, then all of a sudden, Luna entered the armory. "Why is thou doing in here ?"

"Oh Princess Luna, I... urm.. I was curious about this room, so I entered and find it a armory. Some of these blades are beautifully designed and some to deal massive damage to a target, I am truly impressed of your crafts stallions." said Lightning honestly.

"I see thou like blades."

"Yes, blades hold knowledge to some users, I find it hard to believe when my master told me this. 'Never underestimate blades, they hold knowledge to hold them, skill, curse, even love. Same as swords they hold powerful knowledge, remember this Lightning' well that was his last words when he left me." said Lightning with a bit of sadness. 

"Thy master really understands a lot about blades."

"Yes, he said a verse to me one 'Only the ones who understands the secrets of the blades, can unleash it's true ability.' well I still find it hard to understand the secrets of the blades. Maybe that's a verse I need to understand, and maybe that's why I failed my tests."

"Well we shouldn't bother thy interest and studies, let us leave thou"

"Wait! Urm... Luna, here, take this, it's a good luck charm. I made it myself in a crafting class." Lightning handed over the amulet to Luna.

"We don't believe in luck, but tis charm is beautiful, we appreciate it. And for what reason thou give us this charm?"

"Oh, I just want to thank you for taking care of me when I've fainted yesterday."

"And because of our action thou thanked me?" Luna feeling touched because this was the first time she ever received a gift from a stranger.

"Yeah, I could have died without your care. Urm.. you look like you don't usually get gifts."

"Tis is true, we've been sad because villagers only does their activities when the sun is up, and we've never had a chance to talk to them. They've been scared of us."

"Don't hold despair in yourself, I'm sure a princess like you can interact with anypony, you just need to change your way."

"We can't change the traditional approach..."

"Well, maybe you can try to, maybe they'll like your kindness to them."

"How can we not be kind?"

"Well... never mind..."

They talked all night and Lightning slept during the day. He got used to it and Luna became his 'little sister'. He also practiced his blades at night and thought Luna some tactics and skills of using a dagger. They had good time together, but will the peace last forever? Or will the dark come one day without warning? Are they prepared? Is Lightning able to keep the princesses and the country safe? Or will he leave them to destruction?

> Chapter 3: The Beginning

5 years ago...
Lightning was in his room, he was cleaning his blades and polishing it, those twin blades are the only precious thing he had that moment.His master gave it to him for his success in the training. Then all of a sudden, his best friend, Arche Venture, appeared out of his room's window. Lightning got shocked and dropped his blades.

"Fuck you Arche! I almost cut my hoof!" said Lightning

Arche laughed and rolled on the ground."Hahahaha... man that really... bahahaha...." His red hot mane flung around as he rolled and spun like a Frisbee, his fur is yellow like the sun, he is athletic, he races with Lightning most of the time, but he's a coward, and I mean a real coward.  

"What's so funny?" Lightning jumped on him and attacked, gently.

"Oh, man stop! That tickles!" said Arche in 'pain'.

"So what's up?" said Lightning finally stopping.

"You wanna go to the town nearby? It's boring here..."

"Yeah, sure."

"Since you're not an alicorn yet... maybe we could..."

"I know what you're thinking... lets do it!"

They flew to the river near that town and saw a few ponies playing in the water. They created a whirlwind to make the speed of the water current increase. Due to strong current, all the ponies got out of the river, except one, she drifted down the river, towards a waterfall, and Arche panicked.

"Hey lets get out of here before we get into trouble." 

"What the fuck?! You're gonna leave that mare behind?! No way, I'm going in, with or without you." said Lightning.

That's the odd thing about them both. Even Arche is a coward, but he never leave his best friend behind, there was a time they both fought for each other, they took on 5 stallions, they knew they didn't stand a chance, but they stood still, this friendship is weird to other ponies, but it was unique friendship.

"Have I ever left you alone?" said Arche.

"Lets save that pony."

They flew so fast they only increased the current speed, but they caught up and saved the pony.

"Thank you, I thought it was all over." said the mare, panting.

"Well.. um, actually, we made the current go faster, sorry..." they both said together.

"What?! Okay, if you treat me a drink, I might be able to forgive you." said the mare, she smirked.

"That's fine with me, by the way I'm Lightning, he's Arche, oh shit..."  Lightning shut his up immediately.

"I'm Sapphire.. wait, Lightning? As in Prince Lightning Blade of Cyberio?!?! Oh my it's an honor!" 

"Damn Lightning! You gave away yourself." exclaimed Arche.

"Please don't tell anyone..." 

"I won't, as long as you treat me a drink... hehe..." giggled Sapphire. 

It was a relieve for both of them, and the odd thing is that Sapphire treated them like other normal ponies, well Arche is just a Pegasus, but Lightning, he's a Pegasus too, with a position, a prince, but Lightning didn't bother, he's not a big fan of ruling the country. Sapphire's mane is grass green, and fur is slightly lime green, like a bush. They went to a store nearby and treated her a drink.They soon got along and Arche excused for a while and talked to Lightning.

"Oh crap Lightning." said Arche.

"What?" said Lightning.

"I think I had a crush."

"Are you serious? Man you barely know her!"

"I'm serious! I've never been this serious before... she's quite... pretty..." 

"Right you never did with that dumb brain. Let me give you an advice, go ask her out sometime... tomorrow maybe, I know I'm not very good at this but it should work, why wouldn't a mare go out with a cool Pegasus like you.

"I guess you're right, plus which part of my body is cool..."

"You fly fast..." 

"That's normal... You fly faster than lightning..."

"Never mind, just go ask her."

Then Arche and Lightning went back to the table, Arche summoned his courage and asked Sapphire if she want's to go out for a film tomorrow.

"Hey Sapphire, wanna hang out tomorrow? Or maybe something else?" said Arche

"Okay, I live nearby, just around that corner, maybe you could be kind enough to get me?" said Sapphire.

"Why not?"

"Guess somepony has something going on..." Lightning cut in and giggled.

They both blushed. Their eyes locked.

"I think I should go now, see you guys tomorrow." said Sapphire, trying to avoid the words Lightning said.

"Well.. basically, it's only Arche and you." said Lightning.

"That's okay if no one seems to spread rumors." said Sapphire.

"If someone tries to I'm gonna teach him or her a lesson. Lightning, you go ahead, I'm gonna walk her home." said Arche.

"No problem, take your time."

Lightning went back to the palace, the palace is made out of electrical materials, he can't even recognize any of it, it's classified, only his parents know it, also his parents left him and his brother Dire Saber to take over this kingdom, sadly, he's not an alicorn, he can't possibly match his brother. Well... there goes.

Lightning entered the palace and Dire was busy with his things. Lightning asked Dire,

"Hey Dire? If you're free wanna go out to the garden? For sword and blade practice?" said Lightning.

"Sure, but give me another 10 minutes, I still got some royal stuff to deal with, you know..." said Dire

"I know, if you need help, tell me, although I'm not very good at it."

"I think I need that help now... haha..." said Dire smiling happily.

Okay, back to the future… Present…
Lightning missed the moments they had, when Dire didn't get jealous. In the Summer Celebration, Dire got left out because Lightning appeared in the town more than Dire and he cared and helped the citizens, but Dire just stayed in his palace, busy with his work. Dire got jealous and challenged Lightning into a battle. A battle to death. Arche tried to save Lightning in the battle... but he sacrificed his own life.

In the battle...

"Stand up, I thought you had more practice than I do and your citizens' support?" said Dire with his rampaged mind.

"Dire...  I don't want to do this, you're my brother... I can't... I can't..." Lightning hesitated.

"You and your weakness, how can you rule with me without the desire to kill, the desire to control, the desire to destroy?" 

"You're insane."

Dire shouted and charged at Lightning, Dire's saber made contact with Lightning's blade, sparks and metal sounds are made. Then Dire made a powerful blow that pushed Lightning away, and he decided to kill his own brother, with his rage and jealousy. Arche jumped in.

"No, you can't kill him... he's your brother, he just helped the citizens, why are you so obsessed? You're the king, what else do you want? Everypony to worship you? No, we respect you but you can't do this, it's unacceptable." said Arche.

"Arche…" said Lightning.

"You dare challenge me? You fool, I'll eliminate you!" said Dire.

"NO brother NO!" Lightning shouted.

Dire drew his dagger into Arche's chest, blood dripping from his chest, he spitted blood. Sapphire galloped out crying.

"Arche!!!" Lightning screamed. He cried, his best friend, his best companion, he was also like his younger brother, so naive, so dumb, why would Dire do such a thing.

"Arche.. you're gonna be alright, don't... leave me... *sob*" Sapphire cried out, holding her stallion.

"Lightning... take care... of... her... I love you Sapphire... I love you Lightning... you gave me joy... you gave me friendship...*cough* I will see you... in heaven. Goodbye..." he said as he slowly closed his eyes.

Lightning grew in rage, his aura exploded, his aura as pure as lightning, he turned into a electric demon, his sound deepened.

"Dire... I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!!!" Lightning charged at Dire, he kicked, sliced and headbutted him. Dire was seriously injured, but Lightning was worse, Sapphire told him to escape, and he did, leaving his friend behind, he wanted to attend to his funeral, but he had no choice. It was a life or death situation, Arche won’t mind.

Lightning thought, "Arche, I hope you rest in peace, for I, Lightning Blade, will avenge you, with this dagger that took your very life, I will take it back."

> Chapter 4: Master Yang's return, And The Cursed Book

Celestia, Luna and Lightning had their breakfast/dinner in the dining room, and Celestia asked Lightning while digging in her dinner.

"Has your master, urm... replied to you yet?" asked Celestia.

"No... he might be busy... or... I'm worried... if Dire ever try to kill him... I swear I will cut off his head..." said Lightning with a bit of rage.

"Cool down Lightning, I'm sure your master have ways, you have to have faith." said Luna finally using the modern accent.

"I will, and by the mean time, I have a book, it's forbidden for me to open it, but my master did say in dire situations like this, I can."

"What is it?" asked Luna.

"It's a book with skills of blades, magic... powerful magic... that can increase my aura to unthinkable levels, but... I need to understand it first, I can't rush." 

"Let us help you if you don't mind, me and Luna, we might be able to help you with the language."

"Thanks Celestia, thank you both." 

After breakfast/dinner, Lightning and Luna went to the library, the first step was, unlock the magic, a box was popped out of the page, and inside the box was something that can fit into his amulet, he tried to fit it but it deflected off, he placed it on the table and read the book "To unlock the true power of the amulet, one must first understand it." Those were he only words he found in that page, and it was confusing. 

"What is this? Damn it's tougher than I think." exclaimed Lightning.

"Don't worry, we'll solve this." said Luna trying to cheer Lightning up. Lightning felt warmth from Luna, she treated him like her brother. (Basically, Luna is only younger than Lightning for 70 years, even being a Pegasus, he can live up to 9000 years.)

"Thanks. Hmm, lets see... amulets are made up of aura inside one's aura, my father discovered this, he might have some notes in his diaries, but..."

"But what?"

"Dire has it... it's in the royal library... and I can't get through without a..." 

"Without a what?"the library door burst open, a stranger stood there. "You're not planning on fighting him again are you?" said the stranger.

"Who are you?" Lightning felt the old and strong aura, he immediately recognize it, "Master Yang."

"Never able to hide from the wise." said Master Yang. He took off his hood and mask.

"It's a long time Lightning, you've grown a lot."

"Master."

"Wow, your master is, young."

"He's 60000 years old... he has magic to make him live longer."

"59980 actually, and who is this mare? A princess? I see you made some friends already, which is good, it won't be so harsh to have a friend to die with is it?"

"Seriously..." said Lightning.

"Haha... just a joke, let's crack this code." Master Yang took out a book, it was Jupiter's book, Lightning's father's book. Lightning was shocked.

"That's impossible how did you..."

"Your father and I hid this away, and left a fake copy, you think he would leave this precious thing in a library? Use your brain Lightning, your father is smart."

Lightning ignored his masters jokey words and flipped the diary. "Let's see... the amulet is powered by aura, generated from deep within your body, some are born to have a huge amount of aura, some need to go through training, and to activate the amulet, you and the amulet have to be one, and channel it with your desire, your desire to destroy or save. What does that mean?"

"Lightning... you ARE DUMB!" Master Yang hit him in the head.

"Hey don't hit him!" said Luna.

"Why is that so? Oh, I see what's going on, you two have been dating have you? "

"NO! No way, we're just friends! It's because he's your student, student learn from their teacher, and their teacher should be teaching not hitting."

"Luna, he has his ways, I'm already used to it."

"I can't bare this." said Luna

"Luna..." Lightning gave her a kiss on her forehead. That shocked Luna and she blushed.

"Don't worry about me, I will be fine." said Lightning.

"Okay don't get too comfy, do remember what I've taught you? You have to be one with the amulet, and channel it with a desire to destroy and save, not destroy or save, you need to have both of it, you can't ignore the reality. you have to."

"I can't destroy something here."

"It means hatred, love, and what's best for the world, you must unlock this by yourself, I can't live for long, maybe another 50 years, I can't always be by your side Lightning, you're like your father, smart, strong but you still lack one factor of him, independent."

"I'm... just a normal Pegasus what can I do? I can only live up to 9000 years, I'm not immortal, I'm not like them, I'm not strong."

"You are, you must believe. You have more potential than other Pegasus I've trained, you are the next Master of the Blades."

"Okay, here goes." Lightning concentrated on what he have been through, his friend, dying in front of him, his joy with the princesses, his desire for revenge, his desire for his people, now, he's gonna unleash it, on one alicorn, Dire Saber. The amulet glowed, and the item in the box shone too, it connected and fitted, like it was meant to. His amulet exploded into aura Lightning couldn't control it and a huge explosion occurred, he got blew out of the library.

"Lightning !" both Master Yang and Luna shouted.

"I'm fine..."

Then he saw himself, in his glowing silver armor, his blades changed, but it was heavier, the armor and blades are in their new form and Lightning couldn't control the aura, he couldn't channel the aura to his armor and his blades. Without aura, his blades or armor would shatter if he fight with Dire.

"What's happening? I can't channel my aura to the armor and blades." said Lightning.

"That's only the first step. You will have to learn new ways of channeling aura, blindly, and with no effort." said Master Yang.

"Sounds hard, now what?" asked Luna.

"Step two." said Lightning.

Will Lightning unlock the true power of the amulet or is he just simply making it worse? With Master yang by his side, will he be able to defeat Dire and his minions?  To be continued...
> Chapter 5: Unleash of The Twin Blades

Since Lightning's armor and blade took their new form, he's been struggling to get aura channeling into it, Master Yang and Luna tried to help Lightning but it was hopeless, the notes don't make sense to them, so Master Yang suggested that they take a day off.

"Let's take a day off, maybe we can find some answers during the day off." suggested Master Yang.

"It's a dire situation master, you expect me to take break? Are you out of your mind?!?!" Lightning raged. Then Luna calmed him down.

"Lightning I think you really need to get some rest, you haven't slept for 3 days." said Luna.

"Maybe... maybe I'm just pushing myself too hard, sorry master." 

"You and your father's temper... ha! I'm used to it, don't worry." 

"I think I'll get some sleep too because...*yawn*... I too haven't slept for days." said Luna tiredly.

"You two are worthless." said Master Yang.

They both giggled, they went for dinner and went to bed. Lightning jumped onto his bed, he watched the sun go up slowly, he wondered   that how do Princess Celestia use her magic, if he were to become a alicorn, he might need to practice a lot. Then someone knocked the door, it was Luna. She entered the room.

"Hey... um... am I bothering you?" asked Luna awkwardly.

"No, not at all, but what brings you in my room?" answered Lightning.

"I can't sleep, can you... accompany me?"

"Um... I... we're..." 

"Just for a moment?'

"Alright... this could be weird..." Lightning said awkwardly.

Luna leaned against Lightning, Lightning tried to ignore that she's a stranger, they spent a long time together, well maybe most of the time because she don't really have any subjects at night in the court, and since their relationship had gone into a brother and sisterhood, they've been treating each other like one. The room was filled with awkwardness, this was also the first time he ever comforted a mare, and it was seriously weird. Then, Luna suddenly asked.

"Lightning, have your brother been... good?"

"Yes, when we were young, he always took care of me, he taught school bullies lessons, and kicked their asses badly."

"Wow seems like you two have a good brotherhood then?"

Lightning paused for a bit. "He was a good brother until..."

"Until? You can tell me anything."

"Until he killed my friend..." Lighting sobbed. It was his failure not being able to protect Arche, he let him down and even needed Arche to save him, he felt like he was a complete trash.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't of asked."  Luna comforted Lighting.

"It's fine. He... he got jealous of me having attention of the citizens and he challenged me to a battle to death."

"That's harsh. I guess Arche jumped in and tried to save you but he sacrificed himself for you?"

"Yes, and I will never forget that moment, and this dagger, was the dagger that kill him, I will kill Dire with this, to have revenge."

Lightning's tears was like waterfall, a friend of his died because of his weakness. "Lightning..."

It was a long day for them, when Luna and Lightning got out of the room, Celestia was there. And Celestia was shocked, she thought Lightning and Luna had something going on.

"Sister..." said Celestia in shock.

"I... I can explain this. Me and Lightning..." said Luna.

"She's can't sleep, so I comforted her, if... that's against the rules... you can blame it on me." Lightning gave everything up.

"I see, well Luna always gets all weird when she doesn't sleep for a few days."

"Sister !" said Luna, her cheeks red.

"Did she bother your rest?"

"No, it was fine."

They went to the dining room, they had their breakfast/dinner silently, Luna and Celestia's horns were glowing faintly, Lightning could read their mind, they're sending thoughts with their magic, and its about the thing earlier.

"Luna, please tell me you didn't do something stupid." Celestia thought.

"NO! I told you I didn't, we're just comforting each other that's all." Luna thought.

"And how can I believe you?"

"You have to believe me, we're just brothers and sisters, nothing more, and even if he's my stallion, it's about time I get one right?You had one before you can't hide it from me." Luna thought, mocking her sister.

"How did you..."

"I saw you and him together in the garden, his wings wrapped around you, and your lips met."

"Yes, it was true, I was young, and I thought we could be together, and I knew that one day, he'll leave me, he's not immortal"

"And still you date with him?"

"That's none of your business Luna, all I want you to know is that Lighting too isn't immortal, he would leave you one day, and the pain is unending, and bottomless, I don't want my sister getting a heartache."  their horns started glowing brighter. 

"Enough sister, my future is mine to decide, you can't always guard me."

"But it's my duty to guard you, you're my..."

"NO! You don't understand Tia, I'm not a baby anymore you can't always care for me, I will have my own relationship soon, and it's my decision" 

Luna stood up and left the dining table. Lightning can't read what they said, but he knew something had gone wrong. He talked to Celestia. Celestia told him everything and Master Yang too in the library.

"You should let her have her own choice Princess Celestia, she has a point, you can't always guard her, even so, she has to come to this stage as you have came through it before." said Master Yang.

"I know Master Yang. Maybe you're right, I think I need to let her go... have her own decisions." said Celestia.

"I think you should apologize to her or something, not anything personal, but just as a sister." said Lightning.

Celestia went to Luna's room and Luna told her to go away. Celestia forced herself in and apologized to her sister. Luna heard everything Celestia had to say, and Luna hugged her sister, 

"Thank you for understanding Tia."

"I'm really sorry Luna, I'm just... I'm just too selfish." They forgave each other and hugged.

"Let's get back to our work." said Celestia.

Luna and Celestia went to library, Lightning was already waiting for them. They flipped the book and found a line in the book saying 'When the armor and blades takes it's new form, one must master the arts of a blade and use it in battle, if one fails, one's blade shall destroy it's masters soul.' 

"What? Destroy it's master's soul? Don't do it, there must be another way." said Luna.

"It says here that there's no other way, try to find one, and you'll die." said Lightning.

"That's harsh." said Celestia.

"We must try, or else Canterlot will lie in ruins soon. Lightning remember what I've taught you" said Master Yang.

"I guess so... here goes nothing." said Lightning anxiously.

He closed his eyes and concentrated all his aura, picturing the aura flowing all over his armor and blades, and he suddenly swung his blades, the way his master taught him, and it looked so natural. The others stood back just in case they get slashed in the face. Weak aura slowly lights up his blades and armor, everyone gasped, he did it, or is it?

"Oh it's happening! He did it!" said Luna happily.

"No not yet." said Master Yang.

Suddenly pain roamed into Lightning's body.

"Urgh!! What the fuck!!! What's happening?!?!" Lightning screamed in pain.

"The amulet... it's fighting back!" said Master Yang in panic.

"I have to keep going... urgh... it's the only way I can keep myself alive." Lightning said painfully.

"No Lightning you have to stop! Don't do it!" said Luna.

"If he stops, he'll die Luna, support him, have faith." said Celestia.

Lightning's eyes glowed, pure white, like lightning bolts, sparks appeared, books around him got shocked and turned black instantly. His horn appeared, glowing, he floated, and the library shook viciously. They all evacuated, and Lightning flew, the glasses on the ceiling burst open. Lightning's aura filled the armor and blades, his twin blades, unleashed. 

Will Lightning's new ability be able to defeat his brother? Or will the power overwhelm him and destroy him, leaving Luna and the others behind? Keep on reading.

Lightning woke on his bed, Luna slept beside him, holding his hoof. He remembered he channeled the aura into the armor and the blades, but he didn't remember anything else that happened last night. His body still ache after extreme usage of his aura, he sat up and stroked Luna's hair, he thought "She must have took care of me when I fainted." Luna woke up, tired, she asked Lightning,

"Are you alright? You were fainted for 2 days, I was worried." 

"What? 2 days?" said Lightning surprisingly.

"Master Yang says you used too much aura, but your amulet can help you regenerate your aura fast, don't worry."

"I am, if I can't get ready, how can I defend Canterlot?" Lightning was getting concerned in his skills.

"You just need more practice, but first you need to rest." 

"I've been resting for 2 days, I need to practice now."

"You lie down and rest mister." said Luna with a rising tone.

Lightning sighed, and lay down. He noticed Luna was tired, and he asked if Luna needs rest. 

"I'm fine, besides, who's going to take care of you when I'm not here?" 

"Are you calling me a baby?" Lightning asked.

"No, I just... want you to recover quickly and to prevent you from pushing yourself too hard."

Lightning gone silent and slept. Luna lay beside him.

Meanwhile...
Celestia and Master Yang talked in the court about Dire's army and his weakness. Dire has more soldier than they do, and Dire has almost no weakness, his only weakness, is fighting without his saber. His saber was crafted by his master, deadly, and one weakness in that saber, it's only deadly with aura, if Lightning could hold on until Dire is tired, he could defeat him, but it seemed impossible, Dire can fight on for days, Master Yang seen it before.

"It could work, if we weaken him." said Celestia.

"Think about it, who else can match against Dire? I'm too old for this, and Master Yin, I'm sure he won't be fighting." said Master Yang.

"Master Yin?"

"My rival. He's the Master of the Swords. He only fights if I join the battle, so, I'm afraid I can't go berserk."

"Guess you guys really like to fight."

"Not really, I prefer writing books now, I won't live long, maybe I'll write something to Lightning, he's been my student since he was able to hold a blade." Master Yang took out a picture, it was Lightning and him, Lightning was just a filly when his father left him and his brother, he treated him like his own son, and he knew that one day, he'll leave him.

"My father left me and Luna when she was a filly too, and you've underestimated me Master Yang."

"Underestimate how? I doubt that you could hold a dagger properly, no offence." 

"I know how to use a spear, one of my father's subject taught be how to use them, for safety reasons."

"Well, could you show me how you use one? This might be a game changer, if he allows you to fight beside him."

"Allow?"

"He doesn't like anypony being involved in his faults."

"I see, well that depends, if he says no, and if he gets into trouble, I will not stand aside waiting him to die."

Celestia showed Master Yang her skills, and it wasn't all bad, but she lacks one thing, she doesn't have an amulet, nor the knowledge on how to channel aura into her spear, normally aura users use swords, blades and daggers, but this was different. Master Yang took out his box and gave Celesta an amulet, The Amulet of the Dawn, Sun Beam. Master Yang taught her how to channel aura into her weapon, and she was able to do it in an instant, unlike Lightning, Celestia is a alicorn, which means she has more aura in her body, more aura means you learn faster.

"Fascinating, I never seen anyone besides Lurcy could learn that fast."

"I told you, you underestimated me." Celestia gave him a wink.

"Haha, seems like you're right, I have underestimated you."

Suddenly, a group of assassins opened the front door, some guards were badly injured but some didn't make it. 

"We are the Assassins Of The Royal Cliq, and our master have send us to assassinate you and your sister, prepare to die under our blade." one of the assassins said.

Master Yang drew his blades and said, "10 against 2? Seems like a fair fight, for an old stallion." 

"Well then, lets not keep you waiting." the other assassin said.

"HALT!"

Everyone looked upwards, it was Lightning, his armor and blades filled with electric aura, and he was back in shape. 

"Finally, after 2 days of resting you're back you lazy dumb." said his Master.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Clips."

"How dare you insult our guild? You will parish, like the princesses." said one of the assassins.

"I've been looking forward... to tear you your wrenched guilt apart." Lightning eyes glowed.

One of the assassins rushed at him with his short sword, but Lightning stepped aside and stabbed him in the back, which killed him instantly, his wound didn't bleed, but the inner part of it vaporized. Lightning taunted and said, "Who's the next one who will die under my blade?" 

All the assassins rushed at Lightning together, and yelled "Till the last drop of our blood!" Lightning was so fast he took another life before they crossed blades, one was hidden behind Lightning and he threw a knife at Lightning, Celestia blocked it with her spear, and throw her spear into the assassin's neck, it vaporized the assassin, The battle was soon over, some died without even experiencing the pain. and some fled, Lightning and Celestia didn't even break a sweat .

"I never thought a princess like you could fight with a spear."

"You too have underestimated me."

"Sister! Are you all right?" Luna rushed in and asked with concern, she was in her armor and her sword drawn.

"I'm all right." Celestia hugged her younger sister.

"Well I suppose you can control the aura now Lightning?"

"Not for...long..." Lightning stumbled. Luna hold him from falling.

"You need more practice, and Celestia will be fighting by your side." said Master Yang.

"I suppose it's fine, but I don't want to risk your life." 

"I will risk my life for my kingdom, and my friends."

Lightning has no more argument to go on, so he accepted it, Luna on the other hand could use sword, Master Yang taught her some basics, Luna learned slower than both of them, but after a week, she finished her training. Master Yang suddenly forgot, she doesn't  have a amulet, which would render her useless. But surprisingly, Lightning has one.

"I'm sorry Luna, guess you can't fight with them." said Master Yang.

"Aw, I thought I was going to get one." said Luna sadly.

"You already have one." said Lightning pointing at her lucky charm.

"It wasn't a lucky charm, it's The Amulet of the Night, Moon Glace."

Will Celestia and Luna be able to assist Lightning in his fight with Dire? Their new amulets might help, but will it be enough? Or are they just simply, useless weapons?

> Chapter 7: The Amulet that Torn the Brothers apart, Amulet of Hell.

The Amulet of  Night shone, as it shown it's true form, it gleamed, as bright as the moon. As the Amulet of The Night gleamed, the Amulet of the Dawn gleamed too, both released aura and filled the room, as if the amulet was happy, that it finally found it's own rightful bearer, Celestia and Luna, the princess of the Sun and Moon.

"Wow, such beauty, I've never seen this before." said Luna amazed.

"Now that you've seen it, we could continue to our next step." said Master Yang grinning.

"Next step?" said Lightning.

"To use the amulet and unleash it's true power, a secret power your father and I have been hiding, and the only amulets which can unleash such powers, are the Amulet of Thunder, Amulet of Souls, Amulet of Earth, Amulet of Sky, Amulet of Hell, Amulet of Dawn, Amulet of Life and many more yet to be crafted and used for good and bad desires. Your father bear this amulet of yours once, it has his soul inside, his love for you, that's why it had never rebelled your command." 

"My father... he died?" asked Lightning.

"I'm sorry, I never told you, I was afraid to tell you that, until today. He sacrificed himself, for the hopes of sealing the Amulet of Hell, which your brother bears now. It takes over the bearers thoughts and turn them to evil thoughts, that's why Volcano has been acting strangely during the celebration."

"Volcano?" asked Luna.

"Dire's real name, Vulcano Di Saber

"He changed his name because the amulet told him, and cursed his mind, since then your father and I have been trying to stop it, and we did, but the spell wasn't complete, the amulet regained it's consciousness, and turned Volcano's mind into it's own, the word for it, was Dire."

"Volcano Saber, he used to be good?" asked Celestia.

"Yes a great leader, because of this amulet, this mistake, he turned." said Master Yang.

Lightning stood there, and tears began to crawl down his cheeks, then he asked, "My mother? Is she...*sob* still alive?"

"Your mother too sacrificed herself to delay the amulet's consciousness, they have their faith on your hooves Lightning, they believe that one day you will find out the truth, and destroy this cursed amulet."

Lightning was brought up in the palace too, unlike other prince, he was taught to hold a blade when he was able to hold one, and had do make decisions on his own. He only saw his father when he was 3, and his mother left him when he's 13, he was left under Master Yang's care, a filly, abandoned by his parents, and didn't know the truth until today. Today, he shall rise from the dark days, face the truth, and demolish whatever that torn his family apart, like an lone warrior, facing the impossible, with the hunger for revenge in his heart.

"Brother, now I know the truth, I wasn't you, it's the fucking amulet." Lightning said with a mixture of anger and sadness.

"Lightning, I'm sorry to tell you this but it's time for you to know, and it's time for you to rise from the dark." said Master Yang.

"Then this battle shall be mine, and I alone shall face this wrenched amulet, not you guys, but me." said Lightning.

"That will depend on your state in battle, remember, we never leave an ally or friend behind." said Luna.

"Friendship is magic Lightning, it can overcome anything." said Celestia.

"Anything yes, but this isn't something easy to be fooled." said Master Yang.

"Well then lets get our flanks going, we got training to do." said Lightning asking everyone to move.

They arrive at the training room for soldiers, they decided to train there because the walls are nearly indestructible, which is good, because they will be blowing something up. Lightning's Amulet of Thunder has the ability to disable and penetrate, so Master Yang taught him a new skill, by focusing much aura on one point he can absorb the other user's aura and use it against the enemy, which will deal twice the amount of damage than a normal pinned point strike.

"Basically, you need to channel enough aura but not to much to either of your blade and maintain it, and boom! There you go! You can absorb his aura and kill him."

"I'm not killing my innocent brother."

"You still don't get it? The amulet had taken his body, which means it's not him anymore, and which means, hurting Volcano, will actually hurt the amulet."

"Okay... let's try it." He done what his master told him and immediately destroyed a meter thick rock.

"Such penetration." said Celestia.

"Remember, this can be doubled if you absorb his aura, but your weak point, is your other blade, you lower you defense aura when you do it, so be careful."

And then Master Yang attend to Celestia and Luna "Well, basically the Amulet of Dawn has the ability of purification, but for the Amulet of Night..."

"What? Is there a problem with it?" said Luna, feeling concerned.

"It's a newly crafted to be honest, it was made by Lightning, in his amulet crafting class, it's power is unknown, but I can predict it."

"Predict it how?"

"Hmm... the aura you released were cloudy, and thick, the ability might be illusions, or dark powers."

"Dark powers? Like what?"

"Like summoning dead spirits, unlimited amount of aura boost, and..."

"And what? You're making me nervous Master Yang."

"Your ability or your greatest fear, summoning the darkest spirits, Nightmare Knight." 

Luna gulped, the nightmare almost took over her mind once, she tried to unlock this spell due to her curiosity, and it gone wrong, she was surrounded by dark aura, and she turned into another mare, a nightmare, lucky her sister was able to undo the spell and saved her. She never tried to do it again, it's been haunting her, causing her to lose control, but since Lightning came, she was able to tell him her feelings about it, and made the nightmare go away.

"Your amulet is an unknown, I told you, could be possible that you could summon it, and control it and if you were able to combine it's soul with you, and to use it against the enemy, you could be indestructible."

"I don't know... it almost had me once."

"The choice is yours Luna, but I recommend you to try that when Lightning is in trouble, you guys, get some rest, we'll continue training tomorrow." said Master Yang. Luna and the others went back to their chambers. Luna throw her self into her bed, and sighed, she was worried that she'd be a dead weight or the cause of their destruction, she rubbed the amulet, it was a gift from Lightning, a gift she ever had from a stranger, but now he's not a stranger to her anymore, he's a friend, close friend, whom would be willing to comfort her like Celestia did when she was a filly, a friend that would sacrifice for her. Luna blushed remembering she slept with Lightning once, she thought, "Could he actually be my stallion? He's always been nice to me, maybe... maybe... Wait, no, what am I thinking? Have I have a crush on him? Calm down Luna, it's just stress." Luna held the amulet and slowly fall into her dream.

Luna woke up early in the night, she walked to the dining room, hoping there will be food, she's already hungry, when she entered the dining she saw Lightning, she hesitated, and she shook the thought off, and sat next to him, they greeted each other. Luna got a cornbread with her magic, and applied it with honey, it all seemed effortless, since magic like this doesn't really consume a lot of her strength, then Lightning asked Luna.

"What would it feel like to have magic? Would it be weird?" 

"Well, it's not really bad, when I became a alicorn, I was still young, and it felt weird, after a few months of practice, it felt normal, and it's good to have magic, you don't even need to get your hooves dirty." said Luna, taking a bite on the cornbread.

"I see, then, I hope my father could just appear and promote me to an alicorn or something. Heheh." said Lightning a bit of sad when he said 'father'

"Lightning..." Luna gave Lightning a hug, to comfort him. "Celestia and I could do an alicorn spell, it would be easy. Don't hold sadness."

"I might not want to be an alicorn, being immortal is like... an undying curse... not getting to rest in peace as long as I live, unless... unless I have a special someone to company me..."

Luna's heart skipped a beat, "Is he, is he going to leave me alone? Who would that special someone be? I'm sure it wouldn't be me."

"... a special someone, like you Luna, you and Celestia are my only friend now, everyone's turning their back on me, it hurts..." Lightning wrapped his hooves around Luna.

Luna gasped, she felt like she won a lottery, "So you mean..."

"NO, I mean.. I mean as a friend... I guess I'm in need of a friend, maybe that's all." Lightning being cautious, he thought Luna might have some close to her, a stallion or something. What he didn't know is that Luna actually loves him, and he loves her, they developed into this relationship after all that time together, which is rare, and somepony thinks it's normal,

"Lightning... I have something to tell you..." 

Will Luna confess her feelings? Or will Lightning do it instead? From a dire situation like this will the relationship last? Or will it die out, like in the movies? And will Luna use her powers to fend off the enemies and that cursed amulet? Will Lightning be able to destroy the Amulet of Hell?

> Chapter 8: Sudden Attack from the Dire Army and The Prince of the Sky

Okay, let's have a bit of recap, Luna and Lightning are in the dining hall, hugging each other like fillies getting nightmares, both hiding their feelings for each other, and then Luna said.

"Lightning... I have something to tell you..." said Luna, blushing.

"Yeah? What's that? You killed someone?" joked Lightning. 

"No... I... I ..." 

"What's wrong? This is not you. You always get to the point."

Luna started to sob, as if he pushed her too hardly, "Hey... hey... I'm sorry I didn't know you were... *gulp*" Lightning apologized and suddenly Luna leaned to Lightning and kissed him. Suddenly, the door burst open, they both got back to their seats quickly and continued their breakfast. It was Celestia who entered the room, she greeted them and sat down at the end of the table.

"Do you guys have a good day sleep?" asked Celestia, working through her dinner. (Just in case you guys get confused, it's late in the evening)

"Yes, and I'm ready for some training." said Luna, smiling at her sister.

"Same here." Lightning grinned.

Suddenly a huge explosion was heard, outside, Canterlot is under attack by armed soldiers, the Dire Army, citizens ran for their lives, the town was simply chaos. Lightning, Luna and Celestia rushed out to the town, but Master Yang wasn't with them. The Lunar and Solar stallions followed their princesses and ready for orders, and it was to protect the citizens and fend of the enemy (basically). The enemy soldiers were ruthless, their eyes glowed red and hunger for blood.

"Looks like they've been brainwashed." said Luna.

"Guards protect the citizens, don't let anypony harm them!" ordered Celestia.

"Yes, your majesty, come on troops move out!" said one of the commanders.

Suddenly, the commander of the Dire's Army appeared, he tackled Lightning and got ready to kill him. Lightning fell to the ground hard, but he got up, he summoned his aura and channeled it to the Amulet of Thunder, his blades appeared and electric sparks all over them like spiky snakes. The commander too have a amulet, the Amulet of Steel, which's specialty is toughness, he activated the amulet and charged at Lightning with his scythe. Lightning fend off the attacks easily, but his blade wasn't long enough for him to reach his opponent, he waits for the right moment to strike. The commander was ruthless, his stamina is incredible, and his attacks are getting stronger, Luna and Celestia activated their amulet and tries to help Lightning.

"Hold on, we're coming." said Luna.

"NO, help the citizens, I need to deal this alone." said Lightning.

"Okay, but if you have trouble, I will not hesitate to charge in." said Luna.

"Oh Prince of the Sky, don't think because you have that amulet, you can defeat me, maybe you should listen to your friend." said the commander, his eyes glowed red like the others.

"I don't need your advice, I could just simply kill you!" said Lightning. He took the chance when the commander was distracted, he charges his right blade with lightning and swung.

*Splack* blood splattered all over the ground.

"ARGH!!!" screamed the commander in pain, he was over confidenced. His red eyes started fading.

"You might as well give up. I've damaged your hoof bad enough, I'll spare your life tell Dire, come for me, but not Canterlot, and I will settle this with him once in for all."

"Heheh... you think I would live if I go back as a failure, he would kill me instead, I think, I might as well die here. For the King!" charged the commander with one of his hoof badly hurt, his eyes glowed bright red again.

"You leave me no choice Commander Reaper." 

The commander stopped, and he laid his scythe down, his eyes turned back, stormy-grey eyes and said "Don't call me that name."

"Justice Reaper, you were once a good stallion, why obey Dire? He's changed, can't you see ? Stop what you're doing and follow me."

"No, he would kill me. The king will kill me." Reaper trembled, as if he was fighting against his memories with Lightning.

"He would have to kill me before he could kill you. I swear I'll protect you, stop what you're doing, let's face our true enemy together."

Suddenly, a soldier jumped in with his spear, ready for the kill.

"HOLY SHIT!" said Lightning. Tries to turn around but he knew he can't fend that attack.

Reaper lunged forward and slashed the brainwashed soldier. His scythe dripping blood from the kill. The soldier's internal organs splattered out like noodles. And the soldier suffered to death.

"I've always been by your side your majesty. I'm just, terrified on what he did to my family, I don't want to die... urgh..." Reaper fell to the ground, he was alive at least, but he is quickly losing blood. Celestia flew over and treated him.

"Take care of him, I'll deal with the others."

After 2 hours of brutal fighting, the troops were defeated, some escaped, hundreds of dead soldiers both enemy and allies lying on the ground, Canterlot suffered. Luckily, soldiers of the Canterlot were trained daily and the Lunar Stallions, few, but ruthless, they were enough to hold off the attack, but will they be able to hold of another attack?

"We have a lot of casualties and injured your Majesty, but no citizens were harmed, I guess this is a success." said one of the commanders.

"Heck no, even our troops' lives should be spared, you call this success? What kind of commander are you?" said Luna angrily. The commander said nothing, he kept his dirty mouth shut and slowly walked away.

"Not every battle will be victorious, we have to keep our guard up" said Celestia.

"Have I missed anything?" Lightning returned, his body has blood all over him.

"Lightning! What happened? Are you hurt?" said Celestia in concern.

"I'm fine, it's just... so much had to die and no one of my friends listen to me, they were controlled, mind controlled, how did Dire get this kind of magic?"

"Amulet of Hell." said Master Yang.

"Where have you been? We could have..." said Lightning.

"Could have what? Decrease the numbers that died? No, every battle has it's casualties, they died in honor, stop acting like a kid." Lightning stopped, and Master Yang continues.

"One of the abilities of the Amulet of Hell, is manipulate, mind control."

"So he can control the entire army even if they deny?" Master Yang gave Lightning a "duh" face.

"That's... terrifying." said Luna.

"You bet it is, he can easily control everyone without special training in aura control. Justice Reaper apparently, is a hard one to control, when Lightning calls his name, he brings back his memories, and, naturally, causing conflict between minds, the spell will then be unstable, which will he become, I don't know."

"Is he going to wake up?" said Lightning worried.

"Yes, but he might not remember anything, the chance is high, you're probably thinking why he defended you, it's because he remembers the past, and by that point, he has a high chance of returning to normal." 

"What a relief. Let's round up our troops and repair what we can, for now." said Celestia.

"Is that all we can do?" said Luna.

"Apparently, Dire's planning to finish us off while we're weak, I went to Cyberio, it's awful, citizens are forced to work for them, to provide the troops rations, 50 thousand troops are marching towards Canterlot now, we can't stop him, unless that wrenched amulet is destroyed. So I suggest an attack on Cyberio, but we will risk Canterlot being... demolished." said Master Yang.

"An assassination? But Canterlot will be destroyed, unless we have a decoy." said Celestia.

"That's an good idea, but the troops are not marching in a group, they're coming with different directions, all surrounding Canterlot when arrived, I don't know if we have enough decoys, even if we do, they wouldn't survive, it's your decision to make."

"Like you said, sacrifices must be made, this might just save the lives of the innocent." said Celestia.

"No, I disagree to attempt an assassination, it's too risky, we don't have enough troops and warriors to defend, we hold our ground, and I think, by chance, Dire will be coming, only by then, I'll deal with the worst." said Lightning.

"I guess you're right, we can't attempt an assassination, too much of us are wounded, and we don't have much skilled swordsponies."

"That means 2 votes on this. Lets clear up this mess and rest while we can." said Master Yang.

After a few hours of cleaning up and repairing some damaged archer towers, they spoke to the troops. The recruits talked and spoke, making a lot of noise, Celestia said.

"Attention please, Prince Lightning is going to speak to you all."

"Good evening, I know it's a bit late and tiring. but it's announcement I wouldn't repeat so listen up, I know everyone of you probably thinking why are you dragged into this mess, your life suppose to be normal, just guarding the princesses and the citizens, but that would be meaningless." some guards and soldiers already speaking 'stuff'.

"SILENCE OF ELSE I WILL CUT YOUR DAMN TONGUE!" said Master Yang. They all immediately quiet down.

"Okay, you might be wondering, a prince like me shouldn't know this, but you're wrong, I'm not raised like a prince, I'm raised like a soldier, like you guys I gone through training, far more... painful than these, and troops in my kingdom risk their lives everyday, some dreamed to have a family but died in the field, some elites, even said, 'I regret becoming a soldier, but too, I'm happy to serve the kingdom, and die with honor.' So, don't think that way, as a soldier or guard, you risk your life everyday, not just some, standing and do no shit job, it's an honorable job, you die for the country, and everypony will remember your bravery, I have no intention of stopping you guys from stepping aside, but if you do, everypony will know you, as a coward, This is all I want to say, hope you understand the situation now. For me, I will help this kingdom, until the last drop of my blood." Lightning walked back and cheers from few of the troops.

"I will serve this kingdom, until the last drop of my blood!" said one of the soldiers, others then repeated, until all, 20 thousand troops of Solar Stallions and Lunar Stallions cheered.

"Wow, I didn't expect..." said Master Yang.

"I'm not a filly anymore, I am The Prince of the Sky."

Will Lightning be able to defeat the Dire Army and bring peace to Equestria? Will 20 thousand troops win 50 thousand enemy troops of ruthless, zombie minded ponies? Will Canterlot fall? And most importantly, will Lightning and Luna finally say how they feel about each other?

> Chapter 9 : Xecio, Amulet of Thunder, and Lightning's New Mare
> --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luna, Lightning and Celestia returned to the castle after visiting the casualties' families and telling them the bad news, (which is the most painful thing to do) they went back to the castle, while Master Yang goes employing troops for scouting.

In the bathroom, soaking in the warm waters in the bathtub, Celestia and Luna's conversation...

"*Sigh* I hope the families of the casualties could put their friend's or husband's death aside and move on, we don't want anypony trying to have revenge for them, they served well, and I wished I could have done something *sob*." said Celestia, tears coming out.

"Tia, we did our best, besides, all the families we visited were having positive feed backs, remember one family said 'We are proud of him, to sacrifice himself for the country, it's my honor, I just *sob* hope he can rest peacefully in heaven.' I think they'll be fine." said Luna.

"Maybe you're right Luna." Celestia wiped her wears. "So, how's it going? You and Lightning."

"Fine... I guess..." Luna lied, Celestia the look on Luna's face and said.

"Something's going on isn't it?" 

"I guess... kinda..."

"Oh Luna, you know you can tell me anything right? You can't even trust your own sister?" said Celestia applying shampoo to her mane.

"No sister, it's just, it happened so... suddenly." 

"Did you do that?"

"NO! We just...kissed okay?" Luna used her magic to tell her sister.

"Okay so what's the problem?"

"I... I... think I have a crush on him... and I just can't seem to say it... and... I just... you know."

"My little sister, you finally grown up haven't you?" Celestia hugged his silly little sister.

"Aw, sister the hell with that! I'm not a filly anymore, and that shampoo..." said Luna, amused.

On the other side...
Lightning was on his way to infirmary, he felt dizzy, but he ignored it and all of the sudden his amulet glowed. Pain roamed to his body, he fell to the ground, unconscious. In the pitch black world, voices came in, *Hey, this isn't you.* the voice whispered. The voice surrounded him, like an radio in the void.

"What isn't me?"

"You're stressed out aren't you?"

"Who are you? And why..."

"We're Xecio, goddess of the thunder, slayer of the Mytrarin, Amulet of Thunder." A few blur images appeared, shining like the colour of lightning.

"That's impossible, how can you speak? And most of all, why did you strike me out?"

"Oh, because when you're unconscious, you don't really speak, you think, now, you're talking to me, or, you're talking to Razor Bolt."

"Razor... father?"

"Well, not entirely, 'we' have different forms, this amulet has passed down generations, like some other amulets, we are the first."

"Okay, I get it, you're the creator of amulets."

"Gods basically."

"You haven't answered my question yet." said Lightning returning to the topic/question.

"You're straight forward, like I always known you'd be, okay, you're stressed out, why? Because you think, and you doubt yourself, you doubt yourself that you could defeat Dire, because you think, that because you're not an alicorn, you can't do anything."

"I.." Lightning was speechless.

"And that's the reason you can't feel our guidance, you can't feel the potential, you can't feel power. And without power, you're nothing."

Lightning said nothing, he thought, everything he done, every drop of sweat and blood was for nothing? Did he actually just thought that alicorns are actually better? Stronger? He did, and there's no turning away from the answer, he'd never win this, not now, not ever. 

"So... all that preparation and training was for nothing?" Lightning said with anger.

"No, it was something, but you don't fully understand it, the power you have is so great that you can destroy worlds, your father had that, he knows the meaning, he destroyed kingdoms, he did what we asked, and earned eternal power... "

"Power huh? Power is nothing!" he raged. "If I have all that power but I can't protect my love ones, if I have all that power but can't see my parents again, if I have all that power and not be able to be with the ones I love, what's that even for?! Power... if I had to destroy all that innocent people to earn power, I'd rather destroy you!"

"You think with that single minded brain of yours can defeat Dire? An alicorn with magic? Face it, you're nothing, even if your father bared this amulet once doesn't mean you'll earn the power he had."

"Then... I will fight without your help, all I need, is my friends."

"Okay, you pass." the images became clear, and Lightning saw his father, sitting on one of the thrones.

"Dad..." he bowed.

"What are you doing? Stand up straight!"

"I don't understand..."

"You overcome the hunger for power."

"The hunger for power?"

"Yes, why do you think Cyberio is only ruled by one alicorn but not two? Why do you think your brother is an alicorn but not you? That is because we are testing you!"

"Why don't you say that in the first place?!"

"If you knew, would you still do the same?"

"I would. Because... well..."

"Oh Lightning, you have someone in mind?"

"Yeah, she's... the princess of the Night, Luna."

"You're finally at this stage huh? Well, let's not keep your 'princess of the Night' waiting."

"Wait! I have more questions to ask."

"Don't worry, we'll always be with you, like you always been there with her..." the voice slowly faded and Lightning soon regained consciousness. He saw Luna laying beside him, holding his hoof, and asleep. Lightning stroked her mane, the mane is like swirling like waves, but there isn't any wind there, suddenly, Luna woke up.

"Hey." said Luna still dozy.

"How did I ended up here?"

"You were laying on the ground, and we sense no pulse, no breath, I thought... *sob* I thought you're dead." Luna's eyes were red and puffy, Lightning guessed that she had been crying she found him.

"Oh, I uh, talked to Xecio, the Amulet of Thunder, I think that's the reason why I stopped breathing and yeah..." Lightning scratched his mane.

"The Amulet of Thunder? You talked to it?" 

"Yeah..." Lightning continued telling her the story, how he fainted, who's Xecio, and the test he had been doing since he bared the amulet. And he told her about his father, his father was there with him 

"I see, so, basically you past the test." said Luna wiping her tears off.

"You sure you're okay?" Lightning asked.

"Yeah... I'm... I'm fine."

"Luna, I wanna tell you something, I... uh... " Luna stopped him with her hoof.

"I know what you're gonna say, I feel the same here." Luna felt it, she knew he was gonna confess, and she did too.

"How...did you... *gulp*" Luna leaned forward.

"You forgot? I have magic." she giggled.

"Luna..." 

"You don't... mind right?" 

"I guess so...*uff*" Luna hugged him and nudged him with her nose. 

Lightning stroked her mane softly and their lips met. They stayed in each other's hooves and slept.

Will this relationship last in a situation like this? Will the Amulet of Thunder bond itself with Lightning? Like it did with his father? And on the other side, will Volcano ( Dire's real name ) break out from this spell? Or will he remain as Dire, forever, until the amulet is destroyed?

> Chapter 10: Dire's Army Roams!

It was early in the morning, Lightning woke up, Luna in his hooves, sleeping peacefully like an angel, he stroked her mane softly and nuzzled her before he got up. Lightning still felt dizzy and weak after Xecio, the amulet talked to him, suddenly, a voice came to his head.

"Lightning, you must stay alert, I sense something disturbing not far from Canterlot." said the voice calmly.

"Okay, who am I listening to?" said Lightning curiously.

"My name is Xerio, one of the Xecio bearer, I will guide you from now on." said Xerio.

"Xerio, doesn't sound much of a difference than Xecio but, never mind."

"You should be concern of the disturbance instead of names Lightning, I think Zahrin might be close."  said Xerio, amused by Lightning's thinking.

"Zahrin? You mean Dire... how..."

"You see, we are connected, like you channel aura into me or the amulet, we can send thoughts without talking, let's get to the topic, if Zahrin is near, you must be prepared, Canterlot must be prepared.

"You're right." Lightning looked at Luna, he didn't want her to get harmed, nor held as a captive by Dire, he knew if he wants to end this war, he has to destroy the Amulet of Hell, or everything dear to him will just fade away.

Lightning covered Luna with a blanket, kissed her, and left the room. He got a sandwich from the dining room and stuffed it in his mouth, although this isn't very a 'elegant' way to go in a hurry, but it's an emergency, and he has to tell the troops. When he arrived at the barracks, Master Yang was already there, his Amulet of Dust around his neck, assigning quicker troops to recon, and stronger to guard the kingdom. Lightning greeted as he approached, and offered Master Yang some help on assigning the troops, before doing so, he gave a speech.

"Attention, brave soldiers of Canterlot, I have some serious announcement, and I want you to listen closely. Dire's army is coming to Canterlot, according to my amulet/partner, and I think it will be tonight, and if so, we must be ready." whispers already going on. "And I want you all to do something, go home, if it's near, and tell your family, that you love them, because after this war, I do not guarantee    everyone will come back alive or uninjured, but I will try my best to minimize the casualties, I think the princesses would say the same thing to you, go now and come back quick, dismissed." said Lightning.

Soldiers left the barracks quick, back to their homes, but some choose to stay, either their home is too far away, or they just don't have the courage to face their families? Lightning wondered. He left the barracks, and headed to the infirmary, to visit his friend, Justice Reaper. When they arrived at the infirmary, Celestia was there, waiting for him.

"Good morning, Princess Celestia." greeted Lightning.

"Morning, I see you gone to the barracks, to check on the troops?" asked Celestia.

"Yeah, I told them to go home for the morning, to tell their families what will they do tonight."

"What will they exactly do tonight?" asked Celestia curiously.

"Dire's army is coming, and I allowed them to go home and see their families, before going into this battle."

"I think they would love to see you as their commander. You give them so much love, you allowed them to go back to see their loved ones, not every commander can take that risk." said Celestia, smiling at Lightning.

"Thanks, how's Justice doing?" asked Lightning in concern.

"He's better, but I'm afraid he couldn't stand properly for another week."

"Darn it, I think I over did the damage output."

"It wasn't your fault, besides, no major internal damage is already a good new right?" said Celestia trying to cheer Lightning up.

"Yes, I suppose."

Then, they entered the infirmary, and saw Justice with his hoof bandaged.

"That must really hurt. Sorry." said Lightning, feeling sorry.

"It's nothing, I should be the one feeling sorry, I'm weak, I let Dire controlled me, I'm sorry I failed you Prince Lightning." said Justice bowing down for forgiveness.

"What are you doing! Lay down and rest! You're stupid sometimes commander." ordered Lightning.

"Yes sir." Justice laid down, Lightning stood beside him and told him everything that happened, Justice was his only friend from the past who is alive, and now, he has to protect him. Meanwhile, Luna woke up in her chamber, she found out Lightning has already woke up before her, she got dressed and went to the dining room, but Lightning wasn't there, and there's one more place he might be, the infirmary, and she got it, Lightning was there, she stood outside the infirmary and listened to Lightning's story, and their story.

Luna blushed as Lightning said everything to the commander, feeling a bit happy and shy at the same time, she entered the infirmary. Luna approached to her sister and greeted her, and stood near Lightning. Lightning introduced Luna to Justice, and Celestia too. Justice Reaper received another treatment on his arm from Celestia, she used her healing spell to speed up the cell's regeneration speed, her horn glowed as warm as the sun, Justice's eyelids slowly closed, and he snored.

"Well that's the last treatment for today, if his cells can regenerate faster than I predicted, he could be in tip top shape in no time." Celestia said.

"What a relief. Don't worry about him, I'll give him a good dream." Luna lit her horn, it gleamed like the moon, the magic surrounded Justice's forehead, and she stopped after a while.

"I've given him his best moments in his life." Luna smiled and kissed the commanders forehead.

"I'll be Justice's replacement to thank you for your hospitality." Lightning bowed.

"It's nothing, please, we're friends now, don't do that." ordered Celestia, lifting Lightning's head up.

"Celestia, do you mind if I... spend sometime with Lightning?" said Luna, blushing.

"I see what's going on. *giggling* go on." giggle Celestia, knowing that they have already started a relationship. Lighting and Luna exited the infirmary, and left the castle. 

"Where are we going?" asked Luna.

"We're going the spot I spotted last time I flew around Canterlot, but I don't think you will like it, it's kinda, in the wilderness." said Lightning.

"I don't mind, where ever you go, I go." Luna leaned against Lightning, he was happy, that his mare would follow him. They flew to a place not far from the castle, it was a field, filled with dancing grass and flowers, they sat on the small hill, under a matured tree. 

"Is this place okay for you?" asked Lightning.

"It's perfect." Luna nudged him. Lightning held her in his hooves, and they both kissed.

Somewhere near Canterlot...
Dire and his army were ready for the attack, but they waited, Dire wanted to attack Canterlot at night, he thought, this battle should end, in the dark. What he didn't know is Luna is the princess of the night, and her amulet's power is unknown. He checked every soldier he had, boosting them with his evil aura, the amulet was surrounded by dark veins, (you can imagine it being like iron man's core) the amulet glowed dark red, and his eyes were dark red too, his saber strapped near his left hoof, his amulet's armor was bloody red and black, he looked furious, like a Tartarus guard.

"My soldiers, *growl* we shall destroy Canterlot tonight! The land will be coated in blood, the moon will be coated with blood, and we shall defeat those worthless brats, in *weak laugh* the darkness. And we shall drink, the princesses and my brother's blood, together!" his eyes glowed more furiously, the soldiers cheered and they went on with their preparation for the attack.

"I must warn you, night time isn't always the best time for a battle." said Master Yin.

"We have 50 thousand soldiers, they only have 10, how can they fend off such an attack? If they do, I would like to see the results." Dire growled.

"*Weak laugh* you don't know anything at all, don't you?" mumbled Master Yin, but Dire didn't listen to him.

On the hill...
"We should go back now shouldn't we ?" asked Luna, looking at the descending sun.

"Yeah, don't wanna keep our soldiers waiting." grinned Lightning.

They arrived at Canterlot, the sun is setting, and they have to get ready. All the soldiers were gathered in the great hall, Celestia, Luna and Lightning gave a speech to the soldiers. They all held a cup of wine.

"Tonight, the enemy will march into our kingdom, we will defend Canterlot, no matter what happens." said Celestia.

"We'll show them what are we capable of! What can we do even without big numbers." said Luna.

"Fight till the last drop of our Equestrian blood!" said Lightning. They all drunk the wine, and equipped their weapons and armor, and got into position.

The orange and yellow sky slowly turned into dark blue night sky, the moon is round tonight, stars twinkled, over the horizon, tiny black images showed, it was Dire's army of possessed soldiers, they hit the ground with their weapons as they approached, hungry for blood. They stopped, and Dire flew out, "Canterlot! You useless fools, tonight all of you, shall parish! Charge!!" Dire pointed at the castle.
"Surround the city, destroy their houses, and then, demolish their castle!" barked Dire with his saber pointing at the direction of the city.

On Lightning's side,
"Solar Stallions! Get ready!" shouted Celestia.

"Lunar Stallions! Show no MERCY!" shouted Luna, a bit of evil tone.

"Here goes..." Lightning's amulet channeled, his armor gleamed like the moon, silver and white, electricity sparked around it, blades appeared in his hooves, a third of a meter in length, yellow lightning surrounded it. Soldiers charged, swords and blades clashed, blood splattered, screams from the injured, the Solar Stallions evacuated most of the citizens, and Lunar Stallions took the first wave of deadly killing soldiers. Chaos spread around Canterlot.

"Brother! There you are! Lets end this, right now!!!" Dire charged at Lightning with his saber, black and red aura flickered around it, they clashed, the shock wave of the clash of the swords shook the air, Dire pushed Lightning back and charged at him once again. Lightning dodged it and slashed Dire's back, Dire growled in pain, but the wound slowly recovered, the battle won't end unless he destroys the amulet. 

"Still as weak as ever! You call yourself Prince of The Sky? How about Prince of The Sponges?!?!" Dire slashed furiously, but none hit Lightning. 

"Xerio, what's happening? I feel, light..." Lightning asked his amulet through his heart, dodging the attacks constantly.

"When you bonded with us, we gave you the strength, the armor is no longer heavy to you, it's as light as feather." said Xerio.

"We'll see who's faster then." Lightning grinned. He charged his right blade, and flew behind Dire within a second. Slashed him with his left, and fooled him, he spun and made his move, Dire wasn't all clumsy, he deflected the attack, Dire received a glimpse of shock. 

"BRH!! What's this? You can't defeat by doing this!" 

"Who says anything about rules?" Lightning made another approach, but Dire saw through it.  And slashed Lightning.

"ARGH!" His armor got cut, it's getting weak.

"I told you, you an't defeat me by doing this." Dire charged his saber, the aura surrounded the saber and grew longer. 

Lightning struggled and only could evade, his blades were too short. He got headbutted by Dire, sending him, sprawling to the ground, Luna and Celestia decided to jump in and help.

"I'm going in, Luna, stay here." Celestia channeled her amulet, golden armor appeared, her spear stretched and she charged. She was able to reach Dire, Lightning stood up and flew around to find a weak spot.

"So it's 2 on 1 eh? Lets see will that help or, will that make no difference?!" Dire charged at Celestia, slashing furiously, Celestia grudged, she wasn't good at close quarter combat, Dire was getting closer, and she couldn't do anything. She activated his amulet's skill, purification, she slashed Dire's blade, the aura flickered and retracted.

"What did you do to my saber? I'll make you pay!!!" Dire charged, he got face to face with Celestia and upper cut her. Celestia fell to the ground hard. Luna ran to her side, and helped her up.

"Celestia! Let me deal with...*clang* " Lightning got distracted, he got slashed by Dire again, but this time, the armor broke. He fell to the ground, bleeding.

"Lightning!" Celestia and Luna got worried, this battle is going bad, the soldiers were also struggling to defend the kingdom.

"I'm fine... just... a small scratch..." Lightning was badly wounded, but he insisted to go on. He found out a weakness when he's finding a weak spot, it was his left hoof, he holds the saber with it, it's not very strong, he uses his right hoof for frontal attack and powerful blows but his left to defend. He aimed Dire's left hoof and disappeared.

"Where are you hiding Lightning?" barked Dire.

"I'm not." said Lightning suddenly beneath him. He was too fast, even with his injury, he can still fly 3 times as fast as Dire, he already targeted his left hoof at the moment he disappeared, and he pierced him with his electric blade. With his left hoof injured, his defense will be down, and it would be easier for him to fight.

"You're strong Dire, but everyone has their weakness." Lightning dashed, making another approach on his latest technique.

"Electric Hammer!" he pointed his blade and charged at Dire, aiming his amulet, but missed, Dire hit him with his weapon butt, and kicked him down, throwing a dagger at the same time. The dagger pierced into Lightning's armor, he spat blood. Luna ran to him and lift his head up slowly.

"Lightning, hang in there, Celestia will heal you." Luna sniffed. Her eyeballs filled with tears.

The soldiers stopped fighting, and saw their prince dying, the enemy cheered, Luna felt useless, she couldn't fight well, she has no real abilities, she was afraid to use the only skill she had, nightmare knight.

"As I expected, Lightning, you're always, always a failure." Dire laughed cruelly.

"Luna... run... run as far as you can... *cough*" Lightning's heartbeat slowly stopping. He kissed Luna with his last breath, and left this world.

"Lightning...no.... don't you die on me!" Tears slowly crawls down Luna, his stallion, dead, because of her weakness. She stood up and channeled aura into her amulet.

"You... you monster! You will.. you will PAY you wrenched fucker!" Luna raged,

> Chapter 11: The End of The Battle, Volcano Reborn

Luna channeled her aura into the amulet, her armor surrounded by dark blue aura, she changed form, she grew taller, her eyes changed to serpent like eyes, her blue and purple fur changed to black, Nightmare Knight was summoned. Her armor changed, and her sword changed.

"Your appearance don't effect me, fight!" said Dire.

"Thou think we changed our appearance for fun? Thou do not understand our true power! *Evil laughter* ." Luna dashed, her sword clashed with Dire's with tremendous force, Dire struggled to push her back, he deflect it aside and slashed her, her cheek bled, but it recovered instantly, she kicked Dire to the ground, he landed flat.

"Argh... such strength..." Dire astonished.

"Thou killed Luna's stallion have thou? Thou shall not be forgiven! Prepare thyself!" Luna dashed, and attacked continuously, making no room for Dire to fight back, with one of his hoof injured he couldn't do anything, but after a few moments, he saw through her movement. Dire rushed in with his saber, trying to throw a blow to Luna and disarm her, but she was one step ahead, she deflected the deadly saber, and slashed Dire in the chest, the black veins exploded into dust, the amulet was exposed. Luna caught Dire off guard and kicked him in the face, Dire was send flying to a wall, the wall collapsed, he crashed through it.

"That... HURT *evil laughter*. No one besides Lightning can deal so much damage to me, why am I so happy? Is it because since I possessed this body, no one dared to harm... ME!?" Dire charged, his saber coated with dark aura, he swung his saber like a devil, Luna defected them all, but Dire's turning the game over. He slashed faster and faster, the dark veins were growing back, surrounding the amulet again.

Luna got slashed in the back, in the neck, and her right hoof. Dire did not held back, he returned the favor by kicking her down to the ground, Dire arrived beneath her in a blink of an eye, Dire stabbed her, blood dripped from Luna's back, Dire pulled the saber out, and rammed her to a wall, she took a large amount of damage from the impact, and fainted.

"*Evil laughter No one in Equestria can stop me now." Dire moved forward and pointed his saber at her neck, "You are strong, but not strong enough." Dire lifted his blade, Luna opened her eyes, drew her sword into the Amulet of Hell, red aura flickered around it, it slowly cracked, Dire growled in pain.

"Impossible! You're suppose to be dead! Argh!!!" Dire stumbled, he knelt down, "Who are you?"

"We are Nightmare Moon, and we shall destroy that wrenched amulet, once in for all!" Nightmare Moon stabbed the amulet multiple times, until it exploded into pieces. Dire fainted, his armor vaporized, he turned back to his original form, Volcano Saber.

Luna changed back to her form, she ran to Lightning's side, she held his cold body in her hooves, she cried. Celestia woke up when she heard her sister, she trudged slowly to her side, placing her hoof on Luna's shoulder.

"He's gone Luna, there's nothing we can do." Celestia sobbed too.

"Celestia, can't we do anything? How about that spell... there must be a way." Luna cried harder.

"That forbidden spell... I will not guarantee it will work, if we work on this together, we might be able to do it." Celestia put her horn on Luna's horn, they floated, they mumbled an old equestrian spell, and Lightning floated. 

"It's working sister!" Luna forced herself to push the spell further. Lightning was surrounded by a white ball of light, Celestia gasped. The white ball of light exploded into white sprinkles, he turned into an alicorn, he fell to the ground, he didn't move.

"Did the spell... work? Or we just couldn't do better?" Luna started to worry.  But in all odds, Lighting showed movement.

He groaned, "What happened? I had the worst dream on dying." he got up slowly, feeling weird.

"Lightning..." Luna gasped, she couldn't believe her eyes, she ran to him, and bury her head in Lightning's arms.

"Hey hey, what happened? Why are you suddenly so touchy?" Lightning hugged her and smiled.

"I died? But how? How am I alive?" Lightning asked curiously.

"Because when converting you into an alicorn, even if you're dead, there is a chance of resurrecting." said Master Yang, his body filled with wounds and blood, his hooves holding his bloody blades. He stumbled and fainted.

"Master!" Lightning ran to his side, and asked. "Who did this to you? Is it Dire?"

"No, I insisted on fighting Yin, don't worry, he took some serious damage too." chuckled Master Yang. 

"So this means, the war has ended." Celestia said happily.
