> And Why Not? > by The Delirium > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Because It's Weird. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The night sky was always beautiful when viewed from the city of Canterlot. The moon and the stars always seemed to shine so brightly and the citizens of the city always enjoyed it. Princess Luna took great pride in this fact and was always in a good mood after dark. Tonight was no exception. The stars were shining just as bright as they usually do and the moon looked just as wonderful as it usually did. However, as the Princess of the Night strolled through the royal gardens, she was definitely not in a good mood. In fact, at the moment Princess Luna was absolutely fuming! A bat pony night guard noticed his princess walk by in a clear state of anger. "Is everything alright, your highness?" asked the slightly worried night guard. Princess Luna stopped in her tracks and turned around to face the bat pony. That particular pony jumped back in surprise when he saw the princess's face. Luna's normally ocean blue fur was now a deep shade of red and smoke was literally coming out of her ears. After a while of awkward silence, the guard decoded to speak up. "I assume there is something that is bothering you princess." The princess opened her mouth as if to scream at her guard, but thought better of it and closed her maw. Luna sighed and finally addressed the worried bat pony. "I apologize for making you worry. There is something bothering me, but it is nothing you should be concerned with." Luna explained. "Have a good rest of the night and good job on duty." commented the princess. "If you say so." replied the guard uncertainly as he watched his princess walk back into the castle. "I wonder what happened to make her feel this way?" Princess Celestia was currently pacing around her private quarters while muttering to herself and the pegasus stallion lying on her bed. "I just cannot believe Luna would say those things! I mean, sure, we have had arguments in the past. I've even banished her to the moon for a thousand years for crying out loud. However, this was just completely out of line for her." "Honey, if I may?" began the pegasus, whose name happened to be Thunderlane. "Maybe it would be best if..." "I mean, who does she think she is?" interrupted the Princess of the Sun. "I swear Twilight never treated me in such a way." "Princess, I..." tried Thunderlane, but was quickly interrupted once again. "How dare she say that we cannot be together! So what if I'm a princess and you're just a regular pony." "Woah!" shouted Thunderlane. "This is where I have to step in. First, I'm not just any regular pony." "Of course not, dear." whispered Celestia, who gently nuzzled the agitated pegasus. "Second, I see it's clear that you are upset with your sister, but..." "Upset! I'm absolutely livid with her!" yelled Celestia who had once again interrupted her lover. "If I may continue," remarked Thunderlane. "But you two are family and family needs to stick together. I would know. My brother, Rumble, and I fight all the time, but when all is said and done we still love each other." "I guess you're right. She can be pretty obnoxious at times, but she is still my sister." Celestia sighed. "All right, I'll go try and talk to her." Celestia said as she trotted out her bedroom door. "I'm proud of you, Celly. You go and ..." Thunderlane stopped as he heard the door close. "Oh come on!" Luna was continuing to walk the halls of her castle. Well, the castle was really owned by the city of Canterlot, but that was because of an unimportant legal matter that happened a few years ago. It had to do with something about Celestia turning the castle into a giant cake. Luna stifled a chuckle with her hoof as she recalled the hilarity that ensued after the transformation had taken place. The entire royal guard had ben covered in frosting! By now, the Princess of the Night was outright laughing. Celestia could upset her at times, but always seemed to redeem herself in the end. Now, Luna frowned as she thought of the argument she had with her sister a measly three hours ago. "Luuunaaaa!" yelled an excited Celestia as she trotted to her sister's quarters. "I have something very important to tell you!" sung the Princess of the Sun. Luna opened the impressively large doors to her room when she heard her beloved sister calling. Luna stuck her head outside the door and saw Celestia bouncing up and down like a hyperactive filly. "Sister, please! Try to contain yourself!" stated Luna who was starting to crack up. "Now what is it that is so important that you need to tell me?" "Weeelllll." began Princess Celestia. "Oh, Luna. I've done it. I have gotten myself a lover!" As shocked as she was, Luna could not help but feel absolute glee for her sister. "Tia, that fantastic!" exclaimed Luna. "You must tell me who it is! Wait, let me try and guess first. Is it Discord, or a dragon, or how about Twilight. I have always thought you two would be a great couple." "Sister, please." replied Celestia, who had deep blush on her white face. "Twilight and I only went out for that one night and decided to only be friends. Also, it is not Discord or a dragon." "Then who is it!" questioned an excited Luna. "It's Thunderlane!" revealed a grinning Celestia who was absolutely beaming with glee. On the contrary, Luna did not share her sister's enthusiasm. "Thunderlane?" asked the Princess of the Night. "As in Thunderlane the pegasus?" "Yes!" exclaimed Celestia. "Can you believe it?" "No, I cannot believe it. It is..." "Amazing?" "Awful." Celestia suddenly turned to her sister. Luna saying her new relationship was awful was not how she thought her sister would take the news. "Awful? What do you mean, sister?" "You can't be serious, Tia. A princess and a regular pony cannot be lovers." answered the ever-serious Princess of the Night. "And why not?" demanded a now-angry Celestia. "Because it's weird." replied an agitated Princess Luna. "Weird, weird. Why would two ponies being in love be weird?" "Because it won't work. A pony and a princess. How ridiculous?" "I can't believe you!" shouted Celestia, clearly infuriated. "You are supposed to be happy for me!" "Happy for you! Why would I be happy that made such a stupid decision?" "How dare you." stated Celestia coldly as she trotted out of the room. "I thought sisters were supposed to support one another!" Looking back on the fight, Luna realized she said some things that were maybe a bit mean and uncalled for. The princess sighed and continued to wander the halls. "I hope she will forgive me." Luna said to herself as she gazed at floor. "Oh, Luna. I do forgive you." stated a voice that made Luna look up. "I could never stay mad at you." "Oh, Tia." cried Luna as she quickly ran to embrace her elder sister in a hug. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to be so disapproving. I was just surprised at your news." "It's okay." Celestia cooed as she began to wipe away the tears that now forming in her sisters eyes. "I don't blame you for what you said. In fact, there may have been some truth to what you told me." "What do you mean?" asked a puzzled Luna. "You were right when you said a pony and a princess couldn't be together. I would just outlive him. I guess I'll just have to break it off with Thunderlane." "It's for the best, Tia. I'm proud of you." "Besides he wasn't that good in bed anyways." "Heeyyy!" yelled an angry voice that made both princesses jump. "I am exceptionally pleasing in the bedroom." "Sorry Thunderlane, but it just would not work. There is only one thing that needs to happen between us." apologized Celestia. "Guards! Take this pegasus to the dungeon. I never want to see him again." "What! You can't do this." screamed Thunderlane as the royal guards dragged him away. "I have rights!" "Oh, Tia. I'm glad you made the right choice." complemented Luna. "Me too. I'm also glad that we stopped fighting." agreed Celestia. "And Tia, there's something I have to tell you." "What is it, Lulu." "Pinkie Pie and I are lovers." "What!"
