Days had floated by, and soon they turned to weeks. Weeks turned into months, and months to years. Before she knew it, Rainbow Dash was nearing the end of her life. Her friends had all left to go their separate ways, each one pursuing their dream. Rarity had left for Canterlot, opening a successful shop there, Pinkie Pie organized parties in Canterlot, Twilight taught at the Canterlot university, Applejack had her own apple store set up there, and Fluttershy took care of the animals at the royal garden. Rainbow Dash was alone in Ponyville, her dreams never reached.

She had tried many times to get into the Wonderbolts, all the attempts being futile. Years had passed and she started to give up on the whole idea. Eventually the failures built up, and she stopped trying. She settled in Ponyville, controlling the weather when need be. She spent a long time alone in Ponyville, all her former friends out being successful and living their dreams. She could only mourn over a dream lost.

Now she laid down on a cloud high up in the sky, avoiding the judgmental eyes of the other ponies. Soon life would come to a close, Rainbow knew this. All she could do was reflect on her life, but all the vivid memories were failures. The crowning moment of her life had been the sonic rainboom, but it was downhill from there. Every attempt afterwards was just failure after failure. She couldn't perform tricks that would catch the eye of the Wonderbolts.

She didn't have much contact with her friends, as they were always busy with something. Whenever she did see them they had so much to talk about, and she didn't have much to contribute. All she could talk about was the new trick she was practicing, or something that happened in Ponyville, but nopony could relate to that.

Rainbow Dash closed her eyes, memories playing through her mind. Her whole life behind closed lids.

"Hey."

Her eyes jerked open, she was sure she was alone. In front of her was...

Herself? Rainbow rubbed her eyes, but when she brought her hooves away she could still see herself. Not just herself, but a different version of herself. She looked different, and she was slightly transparent.

"Who are you?"

"I'm you." The other Rainbow Dash smiled, she had goggles resting on her forehead.

"You can't be me. I'm you!" Rainbow sat up, staring at her own eyes. It was odd, looking at and speaking with herself.

"Don't worry, I'm a different you."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm you, but what you could have been." She became slightly more transparent.

"What I could have been?"

"Yes. I'm you, but I'm part of the Wonderbolts."

"That doesn't make any sense, I never made it into the Wonderbolts."

"Exactly, I'm what you could have been." She became even more transparent.

"What... what do you mean...?".

"I live in Canterlot with Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy. I'm part of the Wonderbolts. I'm famous across all of Equestria. People come from miles around to witness my sonic rainboom. I'm everything you could have been, but aren't. " She became almost completely transparent.

"How did you do all that and I didn't?"

The other Rainbow Dash was gone, completely transparent. Before she left, she opened her mouth to give Rainbow Dash an answer, but had been whisked away into the sky before she could.

Rainbow Dash looked back out at the sky. That's what I could have been. She sobbed quietly. Everything that she had done in her life could have led to the Rainbow Dash she saw before her moments ago. The successful, happy, and famous version of herself. Everything she had failed to be. Now she knew what true regret was.

Rainbow Dash hopped off the cloud and flew to Cloudsdale. She wanted to see her home one last time. Then she flew to Twilight Sparkle's former home, the library. The place where all the crazy antics that had happened before took place. She pushed open the door to enter the dark room.

The light flicked on without warning, illuminating the filled room. Ponies were standing around the room, and they all yelled, "Surprised!" Rainbow Dash looked around. Standing in the front of the crowd were Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie, Applejack, and Fluttershy. They all trotted forward to give Rainbow Dash a big hug.

Rainbow Dash realized that she had good friends, and that was all she needed. And then they had a massive party.

They all got drunk and trashed the library because Twilight didn't live there anymore. Then they played games like "who can have the least amount of fun". Rainbow Dash lost.

Then after they totally trashed the place Rainbow Dash and Applejack went up to Twilight's bedroom.

And nothing sexual happened.

Then the ponies all put on sunglasses and started singing Winter wrap up for no apparent reason. Now shit started to get real. All the ponies had an epic dance off in the center of the library. Twilight won with her rad moves because she's a motherfucking unicorn, and they have magic. Rarity would've won, but ladies don't dance.

After the party was over and everypony was going home, Rainbow Dash and her friends were about to clean up. Then they realized it wasn't their problem and left the library.

"Can that be considered breaking and entering?" asked Pinkie Pie.

"Yes," responded Twilight.

They all went back to Applejack's farm, where they bucked apples until the sun went down.

"Uh, Applejack, why are we bucking apples?" asked Twilight.

"Free labor!" said Applejack. Then she whipped Twilight and made her buck some more apples.

Twilight got angry and overthrew leader Applejack, then she escaped back to Ponyville through the underground railroad. Then she realized the magic of friendship and went back to apologize to Applejack. They agreed to be friends, and all the ponies hoof-oned. It was the best day ever. Except until it was over.

The next day, Rainbow Dash went back to her cloud to contemplate her life.

Now she laid down on a cloud high up in the sky, avoiding the judgmental eyes of the other ponies. Soon life would come to a close, Rainbow knew this.
