> The Mermare > by angelic_song > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Beginnings > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was one of those days in Ponyville. The day always started off perfectly, but then something happens and ruined everything. Twilight knew it was going to happen anytime soon so she waited by her door all day. Her friend thought she was absolutely crazy, but stayed with her either way. Hours had passed since Twilight started staring at the castle doors, she was just about to give all the mares the betting money when she heard a knock. “I knew it! You all owe me twenty bits,” Twilight boasted and the girls sighed. She quickly opened the door and it was a shocked what she saw. The two royal sisters were standing at her castle door, a sense of urgency in their eye. “Oh, hello, Twilight I’m glad you’re here we have bad news to share with you,” Celestia said glumly. “Oh, what is it princess?” Twilight asked. Her friend took notice of the royal sister a bowed their heads. “I’ll explain more about it when we get inside,” Twilight hastily moved aside for the princesses. Fluttershy and Rarity thought quickly and went to brew some tea. Twilight went to her room and picked out her best pillows. Once the tea was brewed and the pillows picked Luna began explaining. “Girls, as you know there are only a few official beaches in Equestria. Many which are just like the others, but recently some strange things have been happening at a particular beach,” Luna stopped and picked up her teacup, signally for Celestia to continue. “Yes this beach is Blue Water Beach. A very famous beach with a tropical feel to it. Sadly ponies who go swimming there are being reported missing, and when they are found the won’t breath a word about where they were. It was become a big concern and search teams have been sent out looking for any evidence that might tell us who taking the ponies,” Celestia used her magic a poured herself some more tea letting Luna begin again. “As hard as they searched they couldn’t find a drop of evidence. So right now were asking you if you’ll be able to monitor Blue Water Beach for about the next week or two to see if you can spot the abductors?” Luna asked sipping her cup of tea again. It’s was kind of strange who much the princesses liked tea. “Wait, let me get this straight. You want us to go to one of the best beach in Equestria for a week?” Rainbow Dash asked suspiciously. “Well yes, we need you to keep wat-“ Luna was interrupted by a loud scream. “Heck yeah!” Rainbow yelled. In a flash Rainbow had all her suitcases packed and was standing by the door. “OHMIGOSH! I’ve always wanted to go to that beach! Ponies say there‘s sand and water and shells oh and even coral! I can’t wait!” Pinkie bounced around the living room singing a silly song. “Oh this would be a great opportunity to use my beachwear line,” Rarity pondered. She suddenly had a look of urgency in her eyes. “WAIT A SECOND!” the girls all turned to Rarity. “I promised to CMC that I would let them have a sleep over at the boutique this week. I don’t want to break their little hearts, I’m sorry princess but I am going to have to pass this opportunity today,” the rest of the girls looked disappointed. Luna and Celestia smiled before looking at Rarity again. “Oh no need to panic, Rarity. I thought something like this would happen, so I convinced Celestia to let a few ponies join you on your travels,” Luna smiled a weird smile to her sister which made her blush. Rarity looked overjoyed, like seriously everypony thought that if she smiled any longer her face would crack. Rarity quickly excused herself from the little meeting and headed towards the CMC clubhouse. After Rarity left, Fluttershy excused herself too, saying she needed to tell Angel to mind the animals for a while. The next to leave was Applejack, then Pinkie Pie and finally Rainbow Dash. The three alicorns were left in the castle. Twilight started to make a checklist of what to bring, and the two sister took the teapot and left the castle. ~~~~~~~~~ A few hours later Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity were at the train station. Everypony was there except the CMC. They had been waiting for an hour now and the girls were still not here, two more boring hours passed. Twilight made another checklist, Pinkie Pie and Rarity were playing X’s and O’s, Applejack and Rainbow Dash were having a hoof-wrestling contest, and Fluttershy fell asleep a while ago. After three more hours, the girls finally made their show. “Girls! Do you know how long we were waiting for you? I told you to meet us here at twelve o’clock in the morning, and look at the time it’s six!” Rarity scolded the girls. They all looked confused. “Rarity, you told us to meet you at the station at six. I even have a recording,” Apple Bloom took a tape recorder out from her bow and played it. And sure enough the tape was Rarity saying to them at six, over and over again. Rarity cheeks flared. “Oh umm, did say that, didn’t I?” Rarity smiled sheepishly. The girls sighed and went to go get their tickets. After that they hopped on their train, and sat down for the three hour journey. ~~~~~~~~~ The train was very uneventful. So uneventful that Sweetie Belle actually fell asleep for half the ride. The girls noticed that the closer they got to Blue Water, the hotter the climate became. It was okay weather in Ponyville, but as the train chugged along the skies became clearer and the waves got louder. Finally they reached their destination, Sunny Sand Shores. This was one of the most popular tourist destinations in Equestria. Colourful shops were aligned in rows, each having something unique about each of them. Food vendors had massive lines of ponies waiting to get their fries or hay burgers. Parents were walking along the street with their foal who were eating ice-creams. The smell of salt, seaweed, and food filled everypony lungs. The sun beamed brightly on the little town. Teens and children all were running to the beach, some more clothes than other. Palm trees were in straight rows along the path shading ponies from the bright burning sun. Seagulls were swopping round in the air waiting for a pony to drop bits of food. “Wow, this place is awesome!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed. She swopped up into the air to look over the town. “I hear a beach party going!” Pinkie Pie squealed and started to bounce towards the beach. Twilight was quick to wrap her in a magic restrain. “Pinkie Pie, don’t you think we should find a place to stay first?” Twilight reminded her. “Twi’s right. We can’t just sleep on the sand,” the girls all nodded in agreement, and began looking for a hotel to stay in. Beach side, luxurious, tropical and way to expensive was what Twilight thought of the only available hotel around here. “That price is bonkers! Yes the rooms were all underwater, and if you spent more than eighty-seven bits on food you get one night free, but that doesn’t mean you can charge money that would pay all my bills for a year!” Twilight yelled as she walked out of the resort. “Umm, Twilight. I know this sounds weird but couldn’t you just take money out of the royal treasury?” Fluttershy mentioned shyly. Twilight looked her, then looked at the sky, then back at Fluttershy. She smiled and walked back into the resort. After a few minutes of silence Twilight waltzed out. “Celestia, said she will pay for everything,” Twilight announced proudly. Rarity looked at Fluttershy with an expression like she was about to explode. “You know what this mean, Fluttershy?” Fluttershy looked clueless “Shopping!” she grabbed Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle’s hoof and disappeared to Celestia knows where. Rainbow, Pinkie Pie and Applejack excused themselves, saying a party needed to be attended, Scootaloo and Apple Bloom joining them of course. Twilight shrugged and went to join Rarity and Fluttershy with shopping. > The Rescue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Two: Prince Blueblood, one of the snootiest ponies to ever live. Lies all lies. Prince Blueblood really didn’t mean to seem rude at the Grand Galloping Gala, he just was in a really bad mood that day. Just a day before, he had found out his fiancé, Vanessa, cheated on him with Hoity Toity. He was absolutely furious that when the Gala came around he decided that he would be rude to anyone who tried to speak to him. Most ponies got the message that he wanted to be left alone, except for this one mare. Rarity was her name, she was probably one of the most persistent mare he had ever met. Every time he would try to show that he uninterested in talking to her the more she seemed to want to talk to him. At the end of the Gala she had crossed the line and he added her to one of the ponies he should avoid forever. Prince Blueblood life hadn’t been very eventful since that day. His aunts had tried to get him dating again, but every mare he went on a date with rather wanted to marry into royalty, or just didn’t want to be there. He had met this one mare called Fluttershy, but that date ended with her yelling at him to give that crazy mare Rarity a chance. The guards had banned her from entering Canterlot for a week. There was also other mare called Lyra but she was just as crazy as Fluttershy, blabbing on about these creatures called ‘homans’ and how they watch everypony on Saturday. The guards didn’t ban her from Canterlot, they put her in a mental asylum for a year. Celestia and Luna had the brilliant idea about what to do with the mopping prince. They hired some of Equestrias best sailors to take Blueblood out from a bit of sailing. “Men, where are we going exactly,” the prince asked. “Well, Captain, we’re not going anywhere. We are just going to sail the seas for a while,” an orange sailor pony said. “Well as your, Captain, I demand we set sail this instant!” “Your highness, we haven’t check the ship. Little thing like that could cause lives!” another sailor added. “What! Are you boys afraid of a little water? The seas are as calm as a spring morning. If anything was to go wrong we could swim back to shore,” the sailors looked unsure but climbed aboard the ship either way. An elderly stallion who was sitting on the dock stood from his chair and unattached the rope holding the boat. Just under the water of the sailing boat something fishy was going on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Ariel, where are you going?” Attina yelled from her room. “Out!” Ariel said as she grabbed her orange bag. “Ariel, remember what father said?” “Yes, yes. You may collect all the trinkets you want, but no going up to the surface,” Ariel swam from the hallway and into the throne room. Sitting on the throne was her father King Triton. The royal stallion’s coat was as white as sea foam and his mane was grey. He had a buff upper body, and a strange lower one. He had a long and strong looking turquoise tail with green fins. He wore a large golden crown with five spike sticking out on his head. “Ariel, please be careful out there,” her father said worriedly. “Of course daddy,” Ariel gave her father a kiss on his cheek. Triton put his hooves around Ariel and gave her a hug. “You’re looking more like your mother every day,” he kissed his daughter cream coloured head, minding the horn in her head, and let her swim off. Ariel left the throne room and out of the palace, her salt damaged red hair floating freely behind her. Ariel swam to her friends rooms in the palace. She first knocked for Sebastian and then Flounder. They exchanged greetings and set off for the day. “Sebastian, can you go ask Scuttle for some news?” she asked. “Oh course dear. I’ll be back before you can say, she sells sea shells on the sea shore,” Sebastian swam up to the surface and waited by Scuttle’s rock. It wasn’t very good weather up on the surface, the wind and the rain were beating down on his shell, this was one of the reason why he hated the surface. After a few seconds Scuttle perched on his rock and started telling Sebastian a story. “Well a little birdie told me that, Prince Blueblood is sailing the seas for a bit. His girlfriend was cheating on him, so he needed to get out. Funny things happen up on the shore you know, you should visit more often,” “Well I’m sure, Ariel would love to hear about a silly little prince,” he said sarcastically, ignoring Scuttles comment about the shore. “Oh come on of course she would be interested! She, Ariel she loves anything to do with the pony world,” Scuttle exclaimed “Well in other news, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends have been sent to Sunny Sands Beach. Something about ponies going missing, they seem to be just partying right now,” Sebastian looked worried. He thanked Scuttle as she flew off his rock and swam back to Ariel. “Ariel, has anymermaid been seen taking ponies lately,” Sebastian asked as he swam. Unsurprisingly she wasn’t there. “Ariel! Ariel! Ariel!” Sebastian yelled. He noticed Ariel’s turquoise tail swimming towards the opens sea. Sebastian sighed and followed the adventurous mermare. Ariel continued swimming with her friend Flounder for an hour or so, Sebastian following hurriedly behind. Sometimes she stopped to listen to the ocean, but then started swimming jut as quick as she did before. Sebastian was used to Ariel swimming off for whatever reason, but today she didn’t look excited or curious, she seemed worried. Her swimming pace picked up the more she swam out from sea. Sebastian tried to get Ariel and Flounders attention but they just seemed to ignore him. “Ariel, come back this instant! King Triton said you must do as you’re told. Ariel are you listening?” Sebastian face was red hot with furry, which was hard to see. Ariel stopped for a moment to let Sebastian catch up. “Shhh, can’t you hear something?” she whispered. “Oh I can hear something. The sound of your father yelling!” “No, no listen,” Ariel put her hooves to her ears and started swimming again. “Someone is in trouble, Sebastian, we have to go!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The seas was as mysterious as what Luna does in the day. Small waves crashed against Princes Blueblood’s ship, rocking it slightly. The wind was fairly strong, making the ship move faster. The crew were busy cleaning the ship, hoisting sails and doing whatever crews did. Blueblood was manning the wheel, gliding the ship with ease across the sea. It was going fine until grey clouds started to loom overhead. The wind picked up, and the waves began to beat down harder on the ship. At first it seemed like a small storm had passed through, but the more the ship rocked, they crew knew this was no passing storm. The sky turned grey, and clouds blocked out the bright rays of the sun. Blueblood was trying to stay calm, if he started to panic so would his crew, which would end in more disaster. He was trying hard to sail to ship out of the storm, but when a lightning bolt struck, he had jumped and lost control of the wheel. He tried to stop the wheel, put his hooves were pushed away. “Bring down the sails it will slow the ship down!” Blueblood ordered. The sailors saluted as grabbed the ropes and pulled them down. Bringing the sails down did slow the ship down, but the storm was getting wilder. “If you would have let us check the girl before we left, this could have been prevented!” one of the sailors yelled. “I am Celestia damned sure that a check up on the boat wouldn’t stop a storm!” the captain argued. “Yes, but the ship would have been sturdier,” A sudden gust of wind pushed the ship towards a group of rocks. The ships side scraped against the rocks, making a giant hole at the side of the ship. The ship tilted on its side and it began sinking. The crew tried to grab onto something, but the downwards force and the weight of the ponies was too much for the wood to handle and it snapped. The sailors one by one fell into the treacherous waters and started to be pulled downward. The last thing they saw was their ship being dragged down to the bottom of the ocean. Down at the ocean, Prince Blueblood was struggling to breath. His hooves were failing as he tried to swim back to the top that was gather farther by the second. Blueblood started reflecting on his life choices. Like that time he and Luna pranked Celestia, and the one where he went to the Canterlot garden party and saw that annoying mare Rarity get all the attention. He sighed and let his hooves fall to his sides. He had lived a pretty good, and all he needed to do is close his eyes and let the calm voices of death take him. ~~~~~~ Ariel was swimming into the part of the ocean that was forbidden. King Triton once used this place for vacations but after Ursula took over he had forgotten all about it. Once Ursula was taken care of Triton never bother to fix up this place, afraid if anymore villains would be here. Ariel slowed down her speed and waiting for Sebastian and Flounder to get to her. “The sound goes through here. Are you ready?” she asked. “Wait just a second, Ariel we can’t go through here it too scary. Can’t we go around?” Flounder asked, his fins shaking. “No it’ll take too long, we have to go through,” “Woah, Ariel don’t you thin–“ Sebastian was cut off by Ariel turquoise tail in his face. “No time!” Ariel began swimming straight through the area, being very observant of her surroundings. Little fish eyes peeked through the seaweed making Ariel paranoid. She felt the cold water run against her scales. Ariel brushed off the feeling and swam through fairly quick. She put her hooves over her ears and listened well. Her eyes went bright when she saw a figure in the distance. She put herself into an angle that she was facing the figure and started moving her fin back and forth. As soon as she build up enough speed she pushed herself forward, sending her rocketing towards to shadow. Ariel red hair flung to the back of her head with such speed, that it whip her directly in the face leaving a small mark. “Don’t worry,” she mumbled. “I’ll save you,”
