> Pinkie Pie is Adorable > by Diablomuerte2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Amazing Discovery > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Amazing Discovery Twilight Sparkle, a studious and scientific magical princess, was going about her day in the usual manner. She had already got herself settled in the new castle and was doing some re-organizing. "Hey Spike, how is the checklist coming along?" Spike wanted to do something unsavory with the checklist that he so despised. "It's coming along great," he said with his usual facade of enthusiasm. Spike wasn't into mundane tasks; he wanted to run and play, and he wanted to drool over a certain marshmallow unicorn. Twilight was none the wiser and replied with "Great! soon we can get to double checking the check list and then we have free time." Spike perked up to the thought of freedom. He wanted nothing more than to be out of the castle and be in the town with his peeps. ____________________________________________________________ Twilight had finished doing all her mundane chores that she found so thrilling and was going to dismiss Spike when some random and life changing thought popped into her head. "Hey Spike, is it me or is Pinkie really adorable?" Spike wasn't catching on and looked around to see if said pony was in the vicinity. "What? Adorable how?" Twilight began mulling it over and when nothing came to mind she began pondering the idea. "Well I can't really explain it but for some reason when I think about Pinkie Pie I come to the conclusion that she is just adorable." Spike looked at his wrist and imagined a watch on it. "Like how I think Rarity is the most amazing pony in the world?" Twilight giggled, "Actually, nothing like that. There is something more to it than just a biased judgement of a pony." Spike couldn't care less if Pinkie Pie was the ruler of Equestria, at this moment he wanted his freedom. "Well how about you do your usual ‘obsess over things till you figure it out stuff’ while I go and enjoy this nice beautiful day?" Twilight was sure that she was just being given the business. "Alright Spike you can go. I am probably over thinking this anyways." Spike was faster than Rainbow Dash during that one instance and rushed off with mirth and glee. ____________________________________________________________ Twilight was trying to get her mind off the idea that kept swirling in her head. She tried reading books, cleaning, practicing magic, and practicing flight. Nothing she did kept the revelation from being a constant thought in her mind. "Darn, I need to figure this out before it drives me crazy." Twilight decided to head out and go visit Fluttershy to help clear her mind. Fluttershy, out of all ponies, would be the easiest one to talk to about anything. It seemed like the element of kindness was also a makeshift therapist for other ponies. Twilight made her way there and hoped that talking with Fluttershy would help solve this issue. Twilight knocked on the door and waited for a response. She didn't know if her knock was heard so she knocked twice in a row a bit louder. She kept waiting while nurturing the possibility that Fluttershy wasn't home. "Fluttershy, are you there?" she asked in desperation. The door opened and Fluttershy appeared with an apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry, I was busy feeding my animals and I guess I didn’t hear you. Please come in, Twilight." Twilight sighed in relief, "It's alright I am just glad your home." She made her way to the couch and sat down with extra force being put into her descent, "I have this problem and I was hoping you could help me figure it out." Fluttershy was going to start charging ponies if the constant intrusion continued. "What is the problem you're having?" Twilight didn't know how to bring the subject up and fiddled her hooves for a bit while blushing. "You see, I was minding my own business doing my morning chores when all of a sudden an idea came into my head...Never mind I will just get straight to it. Do you think Pinkie Pie is adorable?" Fluttershy was stunned by the sudden question and searched for the words before replying. "I...I'm sorry I don't like Pinkie that way, but please let her down gently for me." Twilight blushed and coughed. "No, no, I meant do you think she is adorable, I am not asking if you like her like that." Fluttershy felt embarrassed and hid behind her mane. "I guess if I think about it I don't really think she is adorable. I would say she is energetic and a great friend, but I don't think she is adorable like I do my animals." Twilight for some reason felt upset by the response, "Alright...It's just that for some reason my mind is telling me that Pinkie Pie is absolutely adorable. I can't for the life of me figure out why." Fluttershy wanted to facepalm herself but her kind heart wouldn't allow her to do so. "Well Twilight, maybe you're attract-" Twilight got defensive, "No! No way I don't think of Pinkie Pie like that, I mean it's not like I don't think she isn't a fit pony to be with me it's just I mean...I just think I should go." Fluttershy had never seen Twilight so worked up and wanted to make sure she would be alright, "Wait, you shouldn't just leave like this. Alright so you're not into her like that, then when did you start feeling that she was adorable?" Twilight settled down as much as she could, "It started this morning when I doing my chores with Spike. I wasn't intentionally thinking about her, it just happened. Now I can't think of anything else and I don't know why she is so adorable." Fluttershy could tell that Twilight had it bad. "Why don't you and Pinkie hang out and maybe the reason you find her adorable will come to light." Twilight thought about the suggestion and suddenly wanted to leave and perhaps talk to another pony about this subject. "That sounds like something I could possibly do, anyways thanks for your time Fluttershy, I think I shall be going now." Fluttershy said her goodbyes and closed the door when twilight left. "Wow I hope she will be alright," she said before going back to her own life of dealing with animals and a certain cyan pegasus. ____________________________________________________________ Twilight was flying around the sky looking for an occupied cloud that a certain cyan pegasus would inhabit from time to time. When she spotted her target she made a mad dash for her. She noticed that Rainbow Dash was asleep and she almost felt guilty about what she did next. "Hey Rainbow... Rainbow!" Rainbow Dash awoke in a panic "What, who, back off...Oh it's you Twilight. What the hay I was having a good dream?" Twilight sheepishly smiled, "I just wanted to ask you a question and don't take this the wrong way but...Do you find Pinkie Pie adorable?" Rainbow Dash didn't do adorable. She thought things were either cool or lame, and nothing in between. "Okay lame joke over, can I get back to bed?" Twilight huffed in anger. "I am being serious. I just need to know if you find her adorable or not." Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and yawned. "Actually I don't find any pony adorable. I either find things cool or lame. Pinkie Pie is cool but not adorable." Twilight narrowed her eyes, "So then Fluttershy?" Rainbow Dash looked the other way, "What about her?" Twilight grinned, "You know you can't call her lame but she isn't 'cool' so what do you think about her." Rainbow Dash began sweating, "I don't have to take this," and she flew away. Twilight felt victorious and at the same time defeated. "Darn, I guess I need to ask another pony. Some pony more honest... Applejack." ____________________________________________________________ Twilight made her way to Sweet Apple Acres and caught Applejack in the middle of apple bucking. "Hey Applejack, I know you're busy and all but is it okay if I ask you a question?" Applejack was about to buck a tree and force it to surrender it's delicious apples all the while disregarding the pain her powerful legs would inflict upon the defenseless pillar of wood. "Sure, sugar cube, ask away." Twilight was a bit enthused this time around. "Alright, so this question may sound weird but do you think Pinkie Pie is adorable?" Applejack raised an eyebrow, "come again?" Twilight sighed, "It's not a question of if you want to go out with her, I am just trying to find out if you find Pinkie Pie adorable." Applejack scratched her chin with a hoof before flicking something and then scratched it again to think. "I would say she is unique and a bit out there, no offense, but I don't think of the word adorable when I think of Pinkie Pie." Twilight frowned, "I know you're an honest pony Applejack and right now your honesty is needed more than ever. I think Pinkie Pie is adorable, do you think it's because I secretly like her?" Applejack didn't dwell on other pony's drama or romance. That was something best left to Rarity, and she was definitely not Rarity. "Sugar cube, I can't honestly tell ya if you have feelings for Pinkie Pie, that is something you have to figure out on your own. I can tell you that maybe you just find what Pinkie does to be adorable because of how silly she acts." Twilight took the information in and ran it through the computer that was her brain. She pondered on it for a minute and then she spat out a response. "Well I honestly don't think her antics are adorable. I would say they are funny and silly but the things she does I don’t consider them adorable. I need to do some research, but first I will get Rarity's insight." Applejack watched Twilight run off and hoped this wasn't like that time she thought she needed to write Celestia a letter before sundown again. When that happened her older brother got himself a doll he keeps and won't get rid of. "Nah, Twilight has come a long way and there ain’t any reason to believe she’s about to lose her mind." ____________________________________________________________ Twilight had made her way across town and went into the Carousel Boutique. "Rarity?" she called out while making her way around the shop. She noticed that there were some fancy dresses in here and something that looked like something Pinkie Pie would look good in. "Get it together Twilight, them silly ponies just put ideas into your head and that is all." Rarity was hearing some disgruntled or deranged pony speaking and went to investigate the potential outrage. When she saw twilight she put away the frying pan she was levitating. "Oh hey, darling how are you?" Twilight saw Rarity and smiled, "Oh I am doing alright I guess. I just have this weird question I need to ask you and I hope you don't take it the wrong way." Rarity felt nervous. "What kind of question?" Twilight took a breath and asked, "Do you think Pinkie Pie is adorable?" Rarity raised an eyebrow and scrunched her face "What?" Twilight sighed, "I am just asking in a non accusatory way if you think that Pinkamena Diane Pie is adorable or not." Rarity wasn't sure what the idea behind the question was but answered it anyways. "I think she is a bit...Different but I wouldn't say she’s adorable." Twilight felt lost. She didn't know what to do since no one else apparently saw Pinkie Pie as adorable. She had to wonder if it was mental, emotional, or just illusory and she was being affected by a spell. "I don't know what to do. Every time I think about Pinkie Pie I just think about how adorable she is. I don't know why my mind keeps telling me that when everypony else says otherwise." Rarity had began chuckling, "Oh forgive me Twilight, I am not laughing at you... Well I am but it's clear to any pony that you have a thing for Pinkie Pie." Twilight snorted in anger and stomped her foot. "No I don't...I am not in love with Pinkie Pie I just want to know why I think she is so freaking adorable." She had tears in her eyes as she rushed off angrily. Spike had stopped putting the shipment of materials away to see what the commotion was about. "What did I just miss?" Rarity looked worried as she answered, "The total melt down of Twilight Sparkles, and it was over Pinkie Pie...You know anything about this Spike?" Spike frowned, "Yes, she started babbling about this earlier and I guess it’s still on her mind." Rarity felt a bit worried but knew she couldn't possibly do anything to help in this situation. "She has to figure it out on her own or she will go insane." ____________________________________________________________ Twilight decided there was only one pony who could help her with this whole dilemma and she was upset that she didn't just go to her first. She made her way to Canterlot and requested a private meeting with Celestia. Celestia wasn't sure why Twilight didn't just send a letter and was worried that it was something dire. She made her way to her own private room with Twilight in tow. When they arrived at the room Celestia closed the door behind them and spoke up. "Twilight, the fact you didn't send me a letter prior tells me this is very urgent. What is going on my faithful ex student?" Twilight wanted to break down and cry but she knew she was a princess now and had to maintain a modicum of dignity. "I just don't know what to do about this. I for some reason find Pinkie Pie adorable. What do you think about her Celestia?" Celestia was taken aback. She never expected Twilight to come out to her but it made sense when she gave it thought. "I think she would make an excellent pony for you, Twilight." Twilight's jaw dropped. "You...What?" Celestia giggled and patted Twilight's head. "Mare on mare relationship isn't taboo in Equestria, so why would I mind if you're in love with Pinkie Pie?" Twilight wanted to scream but kept her composure. "Celestia, I don't think I like her that way, I was asking you if you thought she was adorable with some subtlety." Celestia blushed, "Oh, well personally I do find her antics quite amusing. I wouldn't say she's adorable but I do think she is quite hilarious." Twilight pawed at the floor while being silent until she decided to speak up. "This whole day, I couldn't think about anything other than how adorable Pinkie Pie is, and to be honest I can't even fathom why I find her adorable. I don't think it has anything to do with love because I have never been in love. This feeling that she is adorable is somehow deeper than the idea of loving her." Celestia could see how worried her ex student was. "I know you may not understand why you see her in the way you do but you won't understand until you confront Pinkie head on. Have you spoken to her about this or seen her today?" Twilight shook her head. Celestia sighed, "You know you still have time to visit her today, I suggest you try being around her and then you can figure out why she is so adorable to you." Twilight just giggled. "Fluttershy said the same thing to me. I was just too scared to do it, but now I think I am ready." Celestia smiled and watched as Twilight left the room. "Now I owe Luna 500 bits," Celestia whined to no pony in particular. ____________________________________________________________ Twilight was just outside Sugar Cube Corner. She forgot her legs were capable of movement during the uncomfortable and awkward five minutes she stood still outside the shop. "Maybe I can come back tomorrow," she rationalized as she began to flee. Before she could leave, the object of her mind's obsession had appeared. "Hey Twilight, where have you been all day?" Twilight felt her heart jump and she became immensely fearful. "Pinkie! Oh hey...I was just around doing things. Why is anything the matter?" Pinkie Pie put her face right up to Twilight and opened one eye wide, "Nope, just wanted to hang out with you since you have been hanging out with every pony besides me today." Twilight looked away, "No I haven't, what makes you say that," she couldn't tell her the truth in fear of hurting her. Pinkie Pie frowned, "Because every pony came looking for me asking about you. They each said they were visited by you asking about me. They didn't tell me what you wanted from me but it’s kind of sad that you didn’t just come right to me. Did I do something to make you mad, Twilight?" Twilight was now feeling ashamed of being such a coward. "Pinkie Pie is it okay if we talk in private?" Pinkie Pie didn't frown or smile, "Sure...Let's go to my room." Twilight was glad that they would be able to speak in private because she didn't want anyone hearing what she had to tell Pinkie. ____________________________________________________________ Pinkie Pie led Twilight into her room and closed the door behind them. "Okie dokie lokie, what seems to be the problem, Twilight?" Twilight fiddled her hooves nervously and started pacing a bit before she stopped and looked at Pinkie Pie. "Alright, it's time I just came out with it, Pinkie Pie I find you absolutely adorable and I don't know why." Pinkie Pie looked at Twilight with a serious look, "Is that really what's been bothering you Twilight?" Twilight nodded sheepishly. Pinkie Pie put on a mustache and detective hat and turned it into a game. "So you say you find me adorable, well then what makes you say that?" Twilight laughed and her mood brightened, "I really don't know, I just was doing my chores when all of a sudden the idea of you being adorable popped into my head. I haven't been able to think about anything else and it's driving me insane." Pinkie Pie pulled out a fake pipe with that acted as a bubble blower and blew some bubbles. "Interesting, now when you say I am adorable, what do you mean by it?" Twilight began enjoying this and felt relieved. "I don't know, honestly I just think you absolutely adorable and amazing..." She closed her mouth and blushed. Pinkie Pie coughed, "I see...Twilight when you think about me does it make you feel happy?" Twilight was afraid to continue the game after her last slip up. She wasn't sure what was going on with her but she knew that she never would have said that if her guard was up. "Y-yes it does make me happy but I don't think that has anything to do with it." Pinkie Pie had no more funny tricks up her sleeve and just decided to drop the proverbial bomb. "I don't know why you find me adorable, just like I don't know why I find you cuddly. I do know one thing...I don't like the fact this is making it hard for you to hang out with me. I really like being around you, Twilight. When we hang out crazy things happen and I like that." Twilight nuzzled Pinkie Pie and smiled. "I enjoy hanging out with you too Pinkie. We have done some crazy things together and I would hate not being able to have more fun with you." After they stayed like that for a minute Twilight finally realized something, "I know why you're adorable Pinkie." Pinkie Pie beamed and nuzzled Twilight affectionately. "What makes me adorable?" Twilight nuzzled Pinkie in return and said "Because you make it so easy for me to adore you."
