     Dusk awoke from his nightly slumber. The changeling was going to be assigned a new job from his queen. He just couldn't wait for this moment. Finally he can prove his abilities to chrysalis. After his failures with his last job she put him to work cleaning out the hive.
His blue eyes cringe at the memory of the task. He got up brushed his teeth and made sure his mane was was great. He knew that seeing the queen at her throne was one of the most honorable moment in a changeling life so he wanted to be prepared. Finally he was ready and he left his room in the hive. Walking past the other changeling to the throne room seemed to be a very long trip indeed.
He finally got to the throne room as he stepped in front of the queen herself. He bowed at her presence and looked up at her.
"Your majesty I am here for your new job assignment"
She rolled her eyes at the changeling, "yes, you have. What I have for you is simple. I need you to spy on twilight sparkle for me and the hive." 
Dusk looked confused at his queen as he tilted his head.
"You want me to spy on the element of magic? Why would that be a rated 5 mission?"     Dusk wondered why this mission was so important. A level 5 mission is the highest rating to give a rating. The higher the rating the more important and dangerous the mission is. How could watching twilight sparkle be so dangerous or important. He could understand the importance of the mission since Twilight  was once a villain to the changelings at Canterlot Castle but how could it be dangerous. The only thing Dusk could see dangerous was the amount of learning you would have to do with Twilight, he didn't even mind that. Dusk loved to learn and wanted to learn all the time no matter what the subject. He just listened to what his queen had to say after all he must do everything she says no matter what the cost. The queen just looked at her subject.
"Twilight is an enemy to the changelings. I want to make sure she doesn't team up with that awful pink princess of love and destroy My precious hive. So I chose one of my changelings to spy on her for me."
Dusk looked down at the floor then back up at his queen. 
"Isn't that illegal with Celestia's law that you couldn't spy on ponies?" 
Queen Chrysalis growled at him. 
"I don't care what Celestia thinks! She means nothing to the hive!"
Dusk slowly nods. "Ok I will spy on her my queen, I can't be that hard"
Happy with his new job he walks out of the hive and starts to fly towards Ponyville. He happily thinks of his plan out loud.
"Ok so what could I do. Maybe I could be a transfer student to learn magic sent by princess Celestia. Nah, that wouldn't work. As soon as Twilight asked Celestia I'd be suspicious. Maybe I could rent a house next to hers and spy that way...no that's way to creepy"
He lands in ponyville In his new disguise. He had put on a blue mane with a green coat. Knowing that ponies carry a cutie mark he made his a stack of books. As he was walking around ponyville he was thinking of ways to spy on the lavender princess. He wales by all the Ponyville landmarks. Rarities boutique, he hated the store. He never liked the fashion style of clothing so he never bothered. He passed Fluttershy's cottage, Dusk liked animals but they got annoying after a while. As Dusk was thinking in his thoughts he collided into somepony and dropped to the ground.  
"Hey! Watch where your go....." 
Dusk was interrupted by the apology of the lavender princess herself. Twilight gets up as she grabs her books again.
"Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Are you ok?"
Dusk smiles as he look at Twilight. 
"Yes I'm perfectly fine princess." 
He bends over to help Twilight collect her books.
"I'm just trying to find the library. Do you know the way?" 
Dusk smiles hoping that his made up story could help his job out. Twilight gives out a soft laugh.
"I live there so of course I know. It's just across the road here."
She points over to the tree as Dusk nods. 
"Ok thank you princess. May I help you carry your books there?" 
Twilight smiles as she moves her mane over with her magic. 
"Sure you can, and just call me Twilight. You don't have to call me princess all the time."
Dusk nods as they walk towards the library. 
"So twilight I was wondering if you could help me with something." 
She looked over at dusk and smiled.
"Sure, I always love to help a pony in need."
Dusk sighs hoping that his plan can work.
"I need to help study some magic. I come from a school in Canterlot and I was sent to study some more advanced magic and record the data and send it back to my mentor." 
Dusk was sweating a little as he was talking. He was normally calm with his missions but for this it was extremely difficult to talk. He shook his head slightly as he listens to twilights response. She nodded her head at him smiling.
"Sure I will help you out. There's plenty of books in the library and I love to teach students. There's a spare room in the library used for this very reason," 
Twilight was happy to help another pony especially if he wanted to learn magic for his mentor. It reminded her of her early days with Princess Celestia. Dusk was actually surprised she was so willing to help him. Although he just went with it, he didn't want to complain if it was working. They got to the library as Dusk remembered that he hadn't introduced himself yet.
"Oh my apologies pr..ahem Twilight my name is comet." 
Dusk knew that his invented name wasn't so good but that's all he could come up with. He also didn't want to use his real name. If Twilight found out who he was his mission would be a failure and Chrysalis hates failed missions. The last time a changeling failed a mission she made him suck out all the love and starve him for months. The thought of it scared him. 
"Well it's nice to meet you comet. The books are inside just be mindful of spike. He doesn't like anypony hovering over the books to much."  
Dusk smiles as he entered the library. He was shocked at how many books in the library. Of course it was a library but there were so many books. His eyes widen as he quickly grabbed a book on teleportation and lost himself into the book. Twilight just watched him in awe. 
"Wow I didn't realize that there were other ponies that loved books as much as I did." 
She walks out to make herself something to eat as dusk read the book. Hours passed as Twilight came back to check on Dusk. What she saw actually surprised her.  Dusk just sat there reading book after book as he sat in a pile of books.
"Umm I didn't realize that you read this much. So what have you read so far?" She looks at the book titles.
"Changeling origins, the origins of magic, how to teleports. These are very basic spells and books to read.
Dusk nods his head is approval.
"Yeah it is basic but I always read them for good fun."
He continues to read as twilight turns to grab a book.
"Hey have you ever read Daring Do?" 
Dusk looks at Twilight in confusion.
"No...I haven't. What's Daring Do?"
Twilight stares at at Dusk. 
"Are you crazy? You don't know Daring do? She's a adventurer pony that raids temples and finds treasure. All to save the world in the end. It's a very good read and I suggest you try it."
Dusk levitates the book to his hoofs. He reads the title and reads the first couple of pages. He then closes the book and looks up at twilight. 
"I will look into it. Thank you so much twilight"
He was sweating now as he hid himself in the book. He didn't know what was wrong with him. He could've had a crush on the princess of magic but he couldn't. What would his Queen think. She would dishonest him from the hive and that is the worst thing to happen to the changelings. He soon heard Twilight walking away preferably to her room to read. He took the remainder of his time to fix the shelves of books back together. After the books were placed back correctly he trotted to the guest room. After he closed the door he took out his paper and quill to write his day to Chrysalis.
Dear Queen Chrysalis,
The plan is going good. I made up a story and got I to the guest room of Twilights library. Don't ask even I don't know why she has one. She has book about everything so I will soon read a way to defeat her and make her fear the changelings. I will write back tomorrow as I proceed with the job.

Dusk was satisfied with his letter. With a poof of his magic the letter dissapeared. As Luna raised the moon for the night he fell asleep in darkness. Dust was walking around in his dream. It was a simple dream mind you. Just books and his fellow changelings reading with him. Sure it wasn't an exciting dream but it was his dream. It was just a normal school with a normal life.
"Dusk will you please come to the principle's office." 
Dusk groaned as he made his way to the principle. He walked in hoping he didn't do something wrong.
"Yes Miss Twi...Twi..." 
His words failed him as he looked at the lavender pony. He stood there looking like a fool.
"Oh..umm..well hello miss Twilight"
He found himself very nervous and sweating.
"Is anything the matter Dusk?"
She swished her mane as she spoke to Dusk
"No...miss Twilight."
Twilight interrupted him with a shhh.
"Please Dusk, just call me Twilight" 
He nods his head in approval.
"Yes...Twilight. Why did you send me up here?"
She looks at him with lovely purple eyes. 
"Oh I have a favor for you Dusk. Do you care to help?" 
He shakes his head happily.
"Good cause you can help me with...."
Before she finished her thought Dusk was awoken by a purple dragon.
"Mr. Comet there is breakfast downstairs if you want some."
Dusk just sighed in aggravation as he was woken up from his dream 
"Yes...thank you..."
Spike left the room as Dusk was trying to get his bearings back. He couldn't believe of what he dreamt. He couldn't have a crush on Twilight no he couldn't. His mind wandered as he thought of the lavender pony. She was pretty, thoughtful, caring, and she loved books and learning the perfect mare. He shook his head in realization.
"No! She is an enemy! A villain to the changeling hive."
He sighed as he went downstairs to eat. Sure he had to feed off of love but it also helped when he are regular pony food. Doesn't help much but enough to give him a chance to find love. As he walked downstairs he thought of a new plan. If he needed love for himself and the live what if he could date twilight. He could use her love to help the changelings. Yes it was perfect! Excited he walked into the kitchen to eat breakfast. He sits down at the table as a plate of pancakes land in front of him with magic. He looks up to see Twilight with an apron. His morning attitude seemed to melt away as he saw her.
"You know Twilight you don't have to cook me breakfast. I could've made it myself." 
Twilight shakes her head in response.
"No need to Comet. I love making breakfast for everypony. You are also a guest so I don't need you to cook for yourself."
Dusk nodded his head as he dripped some syrup on his pancakes and took a bite. They were perfect, big puffy pancakes that melted in your mouth and the syrip made it even more so. With a smiling mouth Dusk ate his pancakes at made plans for his day. Twilight turns off the stove and looks over at Dusk. 
"Hey Comet Rarity is coming over to bring me to the movies. You want to join us?" 
Dusk was suprised at the offer that was given to him. Not only he would go to the movies with Twilight but Rarity as well.  At first he wanted to decline and read the whole day but then he thought. Sure his job is to spy on Twilight but maybe he can get extra points to spy on the Element  of Generosity. He nodded his head in approval to Twilight's offer. 
"Sure I would love to go!" 
He clapped  his hoofs together in approval as he nodded smiling. Twilight gave a shy smile as she started walking upstairs. 
"Ok Comet she will be here in a couple of hours so take your time and get ready." 
Dusk finished his meal and washed his plates as he walked into his room. He knew how much Rarity was picky when it came to manes so he took his time to properly come his mane. He ended up with a slight spiky look as he looked in the mirror. It wasn't anything special and he normally didn't comb his short mane but he was satisfied with his work. He looked at the clock, it chimed at 11:30 as Dusk nodded. 
"Ok she won't be here until 1:00 so I have time to read." 
He looked over by his bed at the copy of Daring Do that Twilight have him. He decided that he would read a little bit until Rarity got here. Dusk walked over laid on his bed and read a few chapters. It was a fairly average story. Daring Do was being spied on by the evil changeling dawn. This didn't surprise Dusk at all.
"Using a changeling as the main villain. It's low but it's not uncommon sadly. If only somepony knew that not all changelings were bad."
His head looked down sadly with his ears folded back. He couldn't do anything about it but it annoyed him. He took a deep breath and continued to read. Daring Do was just about to enter the temple of the lost diamond and risk her life to once again save the world. Dusk laughed out loud slightly. It was something Rarity would do. Go into a temple to save a diamond to save the world. Just before he was going to continue reading there was a knock at the door. 
"Comet she's here so were about to go"
Dusk smiled wide as he walked out the door. As he entered the movie theater he met the white unicorn herself rarity. Of course she was wearing her mane in a very stylish way. He almost laughed that he just combed it about but hey he was a stallion he didn't care much for mane work. Rarity looked at Comet and she smiled.
"So you must be Comet that Twilight was talking about. It's nice to meet you darling." 
"It's a pleasure to meet you too rarity." 
He was actually quite surprised to see rarity this nice. He only heard of rumors of the mane six from the changeling and they were mixed reviews. Some say that she is very pretty. Some say she is ugly. Most changelings say that she is mean. Dusk could now see that she was a pretty mare with a nice smile but he liked Twilights smile more.  Rarity and Twilight exchanged conversation as they made the plan to what movie to go to. Dusk didn't really feel like to be in the conversation so he just waited until they were ready to go.
"Ok Rarity we will go see the movie if that's what you want to see." 
Twilight told Dusk that they were going to be watching a mareflick movie. It quite annoyed Dusk that he would see a petty romance movie but he had a job to do so he just smiled and nodded. 
"Great! We will head there now." 
Twilight and rarity left the house with Dusk tailing behind them. As he passed he found out a lot of couples were going to see the movie. He smiled in delight as they walked into the theater. It was a while since he had fed the love out of somepony. They walked in and paid their tickets. Dusk walked in with Rarity and Twilight as they sat down. Twilight ended up sitting next to Dusk as the movie started. Dusk sat there like a nervous wreck. He didn't notice that Twilight had put on a new perfume to wear. It smelled like flowers swaying in the spring breeze. Dusk just sat there trying to calm down. He thought to himself as the movie went on.
Ok so Twilight's wearing a new perfume no big deal it's completely natural. Mares wear perfume so it's nothing spectacular.
The movie started as Dusk started to finally calm down. The movie like his Daring Do book was very generic. A mare has a hard time finding the right stallion so she has a competition to see who the right stallion is. Al to find out that he was with her the whole time. It wasn't a bad movie but wasn't very exciting either. Dusk just sighed as he fed off of the love in the audience. By the time the movie ended he just sighed as he lay his head back in relief. Twilight and rarity were busy chatting to each other. Dusk could've eased dropped but he didn't feel like it at the time. He got up with Twilight and Rarity as they walked back to the library. Twilight and Rarity  kept talking busily. Dusk would've felt awkward in this moment but he was busy thinking of what he would write back to his queen.
When they got to the library Dusk exchanged goodbyes with rarity as he walked up to the door. He didn't know what got over him but he decides to open the door for Twilight. She gave a slight blush and said thank you as she walked into the house. Dusk feeling rather good of himself now followed as he closes the door behind him. He didn't know what came over him. He wasn't normally the gentlepony when it came to mares but he just thought it was the best thing to do. He glanced at the clock. It chimed 5:00 as it ticked. Dusk couldn't belive it. A three to four hour movie. He knew that someponies loved movies but that seemed a tad to much. He walked into his room as he sat down on his bed and grabbed another quill and paper. 
Dear Queen Chrysalis, 
Twilight hasn't done anything against the hive yet but maybe she will in due time. I had a run in with Rarity today as well. We all went to watch a movie, I only went so I could spy on them. They were talking quite a lot so I'm not sure what her plan is but it can't be good. I'll contact you when I find any more information.

Dusk re-read his note to satisfy himself as he sent it off with some magic. It wasn't night yet so he thought he would go downstairs to search for some magic books. Tomorrow he would start his lessons with Twilight. He couldn't wait for it. He was prepared and ready to meet twilight as a teacher. No..no he couldn't be excited he has to keep in mind that he is supposed to study magic and that's it.  He eventually found the book that he threw in the corner last time. The magic of love. At first he thought it was just a cheap romance novel but as he looked into it he found out that it was full of spells created by love. It even had the spell that stopped his queen at the royal wedding. He scoffed at it. He wouldn't learn anything but maybe he could just read it for fun. He walked outside and started to read his book. He didn't get far until a pony stopped him it was a stallion but he looked like he was advertising something.
"Hello Mr you seem to look like your in a need for help."
"Help for what?" 
"Well help with mares my friend. I see you reading that book of love and maybe you may need some help."
Dusk smiles and shook his head.
"No I don't need help but thanks for the offer." 
The stallion wasn't ready to let it go though.
"Are you sure? There is a new restaurant opening soon and maybe you would like to take a special mare there."
Dusk took a flyer as he looked it over. This seemed perfect to him. He could get close to Twilight and ask her out and maybe win her heart. Wait...no win her love. No! No just take the love from her. He nodded to the salespony as he took the flyer. 
"Thank you sir, I will gladly take your offer." 
The salespony smiled as he watched Dusk take the offer. They waved goodbye as Dusk walked off with the flyer. He glanced at it. It was a restaurant with a dance floor and good food served. It seemed expensive but he just smiled and told himself that it was all part of the plan so he'd pay for it. He looked up at the sky. It seemed that Luna started to make the stars come out so Dusk decided to head back to the library. As he walked in he looked around as he saw Twilight reading a book next to the open fireplace. Intrigued to what she was reading he walked over to her.
"Hey Tiwlight. What are you reading there?"
Twilight looked up from her book as she smiled at Dusk.
"Oh nothing much just a new book that came in. It's about the changelings and how they have their hive set up and how they listen to their queen. I'm actually quite fascinated in how they do everything so organized and thought out."
Dusk found himself sitting down next to Twilight as she was talking.
"What did you find out about them?" 
Dusk wanted to find out how accurate this book was. 
"Well i didn't know how they fed off of love until now. They just feed it out by just standing next to a pony who has love it's quite fascinating how simple it is. Also that a changeling really doesn't have a gender. A drone can change into a queen from experience so they turn more feminine as they grow but they just choose a pony to disguise as a gender. Sometimes it's easier to change into a mare, other changelings prefer stallions. It's all preference on the changeling."
Dusk smiled as he looked at Twilight. That was actually very accurate for a normal pony author. He got listened to what else she found out.
"What I couldn't understand is how come the changelings had to always listen to their queen."
Dusk smiled as he was ready to answer the question.
"Well i can answer that. You see I did study changelings in my magic school as I was growing up, a changeling queen runs the entire hive and makes food for it. Usually it was love but sometimes it was regular pony food. Since the queen does that and she had a hive bond with the other changelings she makes most of the rules. If you do anything wrong the changelings are punished. If they do something to disrespect the hive then they are disowned from the hive."
As he was talking he could swear that Twilight has scooted closer to him. He didn't mind It though as he finished his speech. Twilight was surprised with the answer.
"So they must always listen to the queen no matter what? That seems a bit gimmicky if you asked me."
Dusk nodded as he actually agreed to Twilights statement.
"Yes it does seem gimmicky that way but I could never find any answers to it." 
Twilight looked at Dusk with her soft eyes. 
"Well I'm sure I will find more information in this book somewhere."
As Dusk was thinking an idea came up to him.
"Hey miss Twilight if it's not any bother what if we talked about this over some dinner? There is a new restaurant opening tomorrow so why don't we talk it over then?"
Twilight smiled at the offer as she looked at him.
"I think that would be a wonderful idea Comet." 
Dusk just smiled wide as his offer to dinner was accepted. 
"Oh..yay..umm thanks miss Twilight."
She stopped him before he said anymore.
"Please Comet, just call me Twilight. I don't need to be called miss." 
Dusk nodded his head as he stood up. He was sweating as his nervously walked back to his room.
"Ok Twilight..I will see you in the morning when the class starts. So umm...I will see you tomorrow." 
He accidentally hits the table as he re steadies himself and walks into his room upstairs. Twilight giggled slightly as he clumsily walked upstairs. Dusk closed his door as he thought to himself. 
Oh that was smooth Dusk...smooth. 
He rolled his eyes at his sarcastic remark to himself. He sat down in his bed as he soon fell asleep dreaming about the upcoming night.
