> Silver's Everyday Adventures! Season 1 > by Silver Cloud Drifter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: Pilot > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oheyo everypony! This is my new, lighter and more random series, a good contrast to my Daring Do story. If you've read it, you know that there are easter eggs in it, references to things of this world. There are also easter eggs in this story. As the chapter title says, this chapter is just a pilot, introducing the setting. So, read on! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun was beginning to peek over the mountains, illuminating the train, rattling by through the winding tracks of the only road that went through the mountains. “It’s looking to be a beautiful day,” thought K-nine, the diamond dog. He was on his way to Neightown, and what would be his new home. K-nine wasn’t like most diamond dogs. He didn’t enjoy living underground among the dirt and filth. He liked the company of ponies and their civilized ways. His family disapproved of this, of course, and considered him the “black sheep of the family.” This didn’t bother him. It only made him proud to know he was different than those he knew. Eventually though, it came to a point where he couldn’t stand living with them. Not to say his family was bad, they just didn’t agree on each other’s lifestyles. And so, his sympathetic mother told K-nine how he had an uncle who lived in Neightown who was a lot like him, in the sense of being a “black sheep.” Preparations had been made, and now, K-nine found him on a train bound for the small town tucked in an almost inaccessible mountain valley. He wondered what life would be like for him there. Would he be accepted? Would others find him strange? What did the ponies think of his uncle? “I guess I’ll find out when I get there,” K-nine said aloud to an empty train compartment. ooX~Xoo “So, that’ll be one mint chocolate chip ice cream, and one double-scoop cookie dough ice cream,” said a charcoal gray pegasus with a silver Dr. Whooves mane. “Of course Silver,” said Mrs. Pop, a kindly pink earth pony with a mane the color of rainbow sherbet. “And Mrs. Pop? Do you know where Gubblebum Pop is?” asked Silver’s younger cousin, a blue colt with an electric green mane, named Blaze Blue. “No, I don’t.” “That’s not good. An unsupervised Gubblebum is a disaster waiting to happen,” Silver joked. After paying for their ice cream, the two pegasi left the ice cream shop. Blaze was already at the rim of his waffle cone. “Slow down Blaze! You’ve got to savor the flavor, not just tear right through it.” “Afraid you won’t beat me in this race?” Blaze mocked. Silver smiled. “Not likely!” After the brief devouring of their ice cream, which Blaze did indeed win, the duo noticed the train pull into the station near them. They saw the usual ponies bringing out boxes of mail from other towns, supplies to restock stores and such, but what caught Silver’s attention the most was the diamond dog that came out of the train. He was only the second diamond dog Silver had ever seen, and both he knew didn’t live up to the descriptions he’d heard about them. He had heard they were meant to live underground and lack qualities such as hygiene. But this diamond dog was well groomed, and his brown fur was relatively clean. Even the long overcoat he wore was well kept. Newcomers to Neightown were few and rarely stayed long. Blaze Blue also noticed the diamond dog. “Hey Silver. Check it out. I’ve never seen that guy around before.” “Neither have I. Let’s go introduce ourselves.” Meanwhile, K-nine was trying to figure out who he might ask for directions, when he noticed the friendly pegasus duo approach him. “Hey there random guy I don’t know!” the charcoal gray one said. “I don’t think we’ve met before. My name’s Silver Shadow. And this is my cousin, Blaze Blue.” Blaze smiled. “What are you doing here mister, uhhh…” “The name’s K-nine! Pleasure to meet ya’ Silver and Blaze!” K-nine said, shaking Blaze’s and Silver’s hooves energetically. “I’m here to meet ma’ uncle. I’ll be living with him from now on.” “Oh! You’re Mutt’s nephew!” Blaze concluded. “Yes sirs. Would you two mind showing me where he lives?” K-nine asked. “K-nine, I think we can do better than that. Why don’t we show you around Neightown? And since you and I appear to be the same age, let’s keep it casual,” Silver said. “Alright then,” K-nine said. ooX~Xoo “This is the northernmost part of Neightown. The train station is found here, as well as the post office, sheriff’s department, a path that leads up to the mountains, and a few other stores, including our favorite ice cream shop, run by the Pop family.” Just as Silver finished that sentence, he was bowled over by a blur of an earth pony. “Oh! Sorry Silver!” the candy colored pony said as she helped Silver up. “Speak of the devil. K-nine, meet Gubblebum Pop,” Silver said. Gubblebum finally took notice of K-nine. “Oh wow! I’ve never met YOU before! A new pony in Neightown! YES! I’m sure we’ll be great friends! What’s your favorite color? Favorite ice cream flavor? Favorite animal? Favorite taco?” “Favorite taco?” a confused K-nine said. “G Pop here is related to Pinkie Pie in Ponyville. If you’ve ever met Pinkie, you’d understand G Pop’s hyper antics,” Blaze Blue said. “To be specific, I’m Pinkie’s dad’s brother’s wife’s nephew’s cousin’s husband’s neighbor’s friend. Our relationship is THICKER THAN BLOOD!” Gubblebum said, getting up in K-nine’s face. “Uh, okay?” “Great! Glad to meet you K-nine! See you around!” And with that, Gubblebum practically flew in another direction. K-nine stared at where the pony fled. “She’s kinda…” “Yeah,” Silver said, rubbing the back of his neck. “Moving on!” They walked further into the small town. Silver was greeted and approached many times. Many ponies saw him and came out with some errand or another. “Quite the popular pony around here,” K-nine said. “Me? Nah. It’s the unwritten rule of small towns. Your business is everypony’s business, and everypony’s business is your business,” Silver said. Blaze Blue noticed some friends of his, and Silver let him go. “This is the town’s main square. The town hall is here, along with the market stands. Make sure you don’t get swindled around here,” Silver said. The market stands were actual stands set up to sell various specific goods, from cooking ingredients to yard work tools. They continued down a path that led to the mountains again. At the end, they found themselves at the edge of a forest that gave off a sinister aura. A house with many charred and indiscernible objects in the front yard was also there. “This is my friend’s place, Chowdoryu. He’s a unicorn.” “Is he any good with magic?” K-nine asked. “Uh, he’s powerful, but…” Suddenly, an explosion went off in the house. “He lacks control and accidentally blows stuff up. A lot. Let’s see what the damage is.” Silver Shadow led an intrigued K-nine into the house. The house was a mess. Various books and clothes lay everywhere. The kitchen sink was full of dirty dishes, and smoke could be seen coming from deep within the house. “Is everything okay?!” K-nine asked, worried. “What? The smoke and the mess? Trust me. This house has looked worse.” They went into Chowdoryu’s room. Smoke filled the room, and a dazed, tan unicorn with a blue mane wearing a checkered shirt and green slippers lay on the floor. “What were you doing this time Chow? More experimental spells?” Silver asked. The unicorn recovered himself. “No! I was just levitating my handheld to myself, WHEN IT BLEW UP!” he yelled holding up a charred box that could flip open and with two screens. “Calm down. I’m sure Dian can fix it,” Silver said. “HOW CAN YOU FIX THIS!?” Chowdoryu screamed. “Do you not believe in the engineering abilities of Dian?” Silver mocked. “Well. I don’t know, look at it!” Chow said, shoving the ruined videogame in Silver’s face. “So who’s this guy?” “I’m K-nine. Mutt’s nephew,” K-nine said. “Cool. You showing him around?” Chow asked. “Correct my friend.” “Then I’m coming with. You’re gonna introduce him to Dian anyway right? I’ll take this mess”- Chow held up his ruined game –“to her.” They left the smoking room. “You should really clean up your house Chow,” Silver said. “Cleaning up is just moving things to less obvious places. Besides, I can find everything anyway.” Silver rolled his eyes at that remark. Upon leaving the house, K-nine asked, “What’s that forest behind the house?” “That’s the Everfree Forest. If you’re brave enough to travel all the way through it, you’ll find yourself at Ponyville. Unnatural stuff happens in that forest. Weather moves on its own, strange mythological creatures, and even more. Not really the best place to get lost,” Silver explained. They next found themselves at a house with a basketball court in the front yard. A zebra was taking shots at the hoop. “Hey Arqez!” Silver said. “Hey Silver.” Arqez took a shot from half-court, and made it in. “OH! OH DID YOU SEE THAT!? OH NOTHING BUT NET! Yeah, pure skill. Who’s your friend?” “’His friend’ is K-nine. I’m moving in with Mutt. He’s my uncle. Why don’t ponies ask me this directly?” K-nine said, annoyed at the fact nopony talked to him directly. “’Cause nopony knows you. It’s a small town. They’re more comfortable with ponies they know,” Silver said. “So, Arqez. Wanna join our caravan to show K-nine around?” Silver asked. “Nah. I’m playing some noob in COD soon. Have fun showing the guy around,” Arqez said. “Ok. See ya,” Chow said as they walked away. They soon arrived at a repair shop that, according to a sign in the window, “Repairs for Anything You’re Dad Tried to Do Himself.” “This is where Dian lives with her roommate, Estella,” Chow said. A bell on the door rang as it opened. A griffin with gold feathers stood at the counter. “Welcome to the Gadgeteer’s Worksop! Oh. It’s just you two. And some guy I don’t know. What’s your name?” “Finally! Someone asks me that directly!” K-nine said. “This is K-nine. He’s come to move in with Mutt, his uncle,” Chow said. “Hey!” K-nine said. “Trololol,” Chow said. “What?” K-nine asked. “Chow is the byproduct of what happens when a pony is introduced to the internet,” the griffin said. “I’m Dian.” “Pleased to meet you. What’s the internet?” K-nine asked. “You haven’t shown him?” Dian asked, incredulous. “Eenope,” Silver said. “Okay. Before you do anything else, we’re gonna show you it,” Dian said. “Show me what?” K-nine asked. Dian winked. “You’ll see. Hey Estella!” A yellow unicorn with an orange mane rushed into the room. “Yeah Dian?” “Meet K-nine. We’re gonna show him the wall. Watch this place while I’m gone,” Dian said. The yellow mare saluted. “Okay Dian.” “Oh. And Estella? My game’s busted. You think you can fix it?” Chow asked. “Hmmm. Human tech is susceptible to magic. Even if it is completely charred like this. I’m sure me and Dian can fix it later.” “Well hurry! I’m about to face the Elite Four!” Chow said. They left the room, pushing K-nine along the way. “Where are we going?” K-nine asked, worried. “We told you. You’ll see,” Silver said. They led him to an area where the buildings and signs of residence began to thin out. They took him to a two story building on the edge of a boardwalk of a lake. Inside, K-nine couldn’t suppress a gasp. The building was well furnished with bean bag chairs, a large sofa, and a bunch of strange technology he had never seen. The “strange technology” was actually a large TV hooked up to a Wii and a PS3. A laptop computer was also placed on a desk next to a table lamp and shuffled papers. “Who lives here?” K-nine asked. “I do. We all hang out here all the time,” Silver said. “What’s with all this strange technology?” K-nine asked. “Let me show you something,” Dian said. She led them out of the house to an enclosed alley a short walk away. It dead ended in a dirty brick wall with a faded number four written in white paint on it. “You wanted to show me a wall?” “No. We wanted to show you, THE wall. We call this the Fourth Wall. All that strange technology you saw came from out of this wall,” Dian said. “How?” K-nine asked, disbelieving. Just then, the wall began to vibrate. The bricks looked like they were trying to break free of the cement. “What’s going on?” “You’re about to see how stuff comes out of the wall,” Chow said, rubbing his hooves together. The vibrating intensified. The ground itself began to shake violently. Then, a blinding white light appeared at the center of the wall, right on the four. A portal appeared on the wall. And something came shooting right out, smacking Silver right in the face! “Owww…” He rubbed his nose and picked up what had fallen. “What is it?” K-nine asked. “It’s a scrapbook.” Silver rifled through it. K-nine peered over his shoulder. “What are these strange creatures in the pictures?” “From our research with all the objects that have come out of the Wall, they’re called humans. They’re strange creatures whose society says you’re nothing without money and enforces people to pay taxes, buy things they don’t need, and thrusts children into schools to brainwash them with pointless things, such as math so they become accountants and bank tellers, english so they can write news articles about puppies and dead guys, and government so they become lawyers,” Chow said. “Their world sounds terrible!” K-nine said. “Eh. I’ve gone through the internet and found some people who refuse to let society influence them like that. Unfortunately, a lot of those people are put down and degraded,” Silver said. “Although, there are some things in the internet full of society’s values. And I forbid those places to be seen on my computer,” Silver said. “Compu…What?” K-nine asked. “Come on. We’ll show you,” Dian said. They went back to Silver’s house. Dian gestured to the laptop. “This is a computer. Or, more accurately, a laptop. It’s hooked up to this little box thing called a modem, which allows internet access.” “And the internet is…” K-nine said. “It’s really hard to explain. You can basically play games on it, chat with other people, post and watch videos, look at news articles, and a lot more,” Silver said. Chow shook his head. “That explanation doesn’t do the internet justice at all. The internet is vast and varied land to escape reality for hours on pointless things. Such as youtube and MapleStory.” “You need to get off the computer more often,” Silver said. He pulled out the chair to his desk and booted up his laptop. “Chow, you’re still logged in to your youtube. Hmmm. What’s this? Twilight Sparkle shipping playlist? As in Ponyville’s Twilight Sparkle?” “NO NO! Haha. Ignore that.” Chow quickly logged out of his youtube. Silver raised an eyebrow. “Oka-ay. Another thing you should know about humans. We, as in the creatures in Equestria, are mythological creatures. Well, mostly. We aren’t real to them. Except earth ponies. But they don’t talk, or anything. We only exist in a TV show for them called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.” “Wait, we’re just TV characters?! How do I even begin to wrap my head around that?” K-nine asked. “Well, not really us. More the Ponyville residents. None of us have ever appeared for anything. And we haven’t told the ponies of Ponyville either, so don’t bring it up to ANYPONY!” Silver said. “I feel like those show’s creators are denying me of my well-deserved cameo! I am worthy!” Chow screamed to the roof. “Any-way. I’ve done some interacting with the brony community. Bronies are My Little Pony fans. They’ve got some kind of website to post fan fictions about the show, so, since I’m a writer, I got an account. I write fan fictions about Daring Do. You know, the real book series in Equestria. It’s called The Teardrop Keystone. I wrote it a while ago as an ordinary fan fiction, but now, I upload it for people to see,” Silver said. “Interesting. I’d love to read it. You a good writer?” K-nine asked. “Do you see my cutie mark?” Silver pointed to it; a feather quill crossing over a sword. “The pen is mightier than the sword. A quote by the human writer, Edward Bulwer-Lytton. I got it after I wrote my first story.” “Whatever. You wanna see a real cutie mark? BAM! Look at my butt!” Chow said. It was a videogame controller. “Chow’s a swag gamer. He’ll kick our butts in any game,” Silver said. “Don’t say swag. I hate that overused word,” Chow said, scowling. “And this is our kick-flank gaming area.” Silver gestured to the Wii and PS3. “We’ve got enough games to make sure we’re never bored.” “Cool. Mind if I experiment around with this, internet thing?” K-nine asked. Silver raised an eyebrow. “You’re quite fond of that raised eyebrow look aren’t you?” “Yes, actually I am. Look, you can go through, but don’t mess with anything your gut tells you not to. And if you need help with that, I’ve got a word document with a list of a bunch of stuff I’ve forbidden on my computer. Stay safe.” Silver made an I’m watching you sign to him. Before K-nine could even move though, a screaming could be heard. Confused, the group looked around, searching for the source of the noise. CRASH!! The roof of Silver’s house had just gotten a gaping hole in it. Gubblebum jumped up from out of the dust and debris. “Hey there guys! Sorry I took forever to get to you, but I’ve been looking everywhere! I should have KNOWN you guys were here!” Dian was coughing and waving away dust. “Geez Gubblebum! Ever heard of the door?” “Aw! That’s bo-o-ring! Anyway! I just needed to find my camera to take a pic of our new friend!” Gubblebum then proceeded to take various pictures of K-nine from different angles. “G Pop is into scrapbooking and picture taking. She catalogs everything,” Chow said. “Which reminds me. K-nine. We’ve still gotta show you one last thing.” Silver led him to a stairway downstairs. They were in a basement full of shelves upon shelves of various items. “These are the archives. We keep all things that come out of the Fourth Wall that we don’t want to keep for our own personal benefit here. All cataloged and accounted for.” “Yeah. Now, I’m gonna go mess with your laptop. Not really interested in this stuff,” and K-nine rushed off. “Hmmm. I never even showed him his uncle’s house. Ah well.” ooX~Xoo “Hey Dian. I closed shop already. What are you…” Estella trailed off as she saw everypony gathered around the floor of a twitching body. “What’s going on?” “K-nine looked at the list of forbidden searches and did exactly what I told him not to!” Silver ranted. “Maybe you shouldn’t keep a bunch of forbidden searches on file. Ever thought of that?” Chow said. “Clop-fics…Shipping…Cupcakes…4chan…” K-nine was muttering incoherently to himself. “How are we supposed to fix this?” Estella asked. “I have no idea,” Silver said. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So? What do you guys think? Silver was kinda modeled off of me, obviously since he's my main OC, and Arqez and Chowdoryu were modeled off of two of my friends. Both are slightly exaggerated. Feedback is much appreciated. For those of you that are wondering as to why my OC posts stories that are just like mine aka The Teardrop Keystone, I just put it in there for kicks. Or did I? Maybe I really am a pegasus from Equestria posing as a human. HAHAHAHAHA! Ahem. Anyway, easter eggs include; Chow's handheld with doulbe screens. Come on guys it's not that hard to figure this one out. The Elite Four. If you don't know this one, you've had no childhood. Leave your guesses as to what they are in the comments. Feedback is much appreciated, as stated before. New chapter will be up in two weeks at the latest. I'm giving myself more time because this took forever to make. Welp, Silver, out!
