The life of Princess Luna's daughter, Umbra, as she struggles with the fact that King Sombra is her biological father.
After The Fall Of The Crystal Empire and her return from her Nightmare Moon phase, Princess Luna finds out she's pregnant with King Sombra's foal. She has a daughter named Umbra Moonlight. Everyday, Umbra struggles with nightmares about her biological father. She learns that she is the only one who can stop him. Will she defeat him, or will she join the dark side?
It was a 1,000 years ago Princess Celestia and her younger sister, Princess Luna were ending the suffering of the Crystal Empire by defeating their evil ruler, King Sombra. It was a fearsome battle. Swords clashed and blood was dropped. Soon, Sombra used his dark magic to put Celestia in a nightmaric daze. While Luna was trapped in a crystal prison.
"Release me." ordered Luna.
Sombra started to laugh.
"In due time," said Sombra "I was curious as to why your sister would fear you. It seems she is right to do so."
"She does not fear me," said Luna
"You shall see before long. Do you honestly think she understands the night and all it's glory?"
"Do not in turns say that you do."
"Oh I understand perfectly. You find me to be a tyrant. Yet the best kind of slave is one who is willing."
"SILENCE!"
Luna tried to break free from her prison, but her attempt failed.
"You can deny my warnings all you wish," said Sombra "it wont change your fate."
"Save your breath," said Luna
"Even if by some miracle you were to defeat me, you'd only still soon fall to your sister. Why be forced to choose? Equestria will see many a foe in it's future. Would it not make sense for us to stand against them together?"
"We would sooner take our own lives than submit to you."
"Submit? Just like you have to your sister? I admire your resolve. You are strong. Far more fit to rule. Far more fit deserving of respect than Celestia," complimented Sombra looking at a fainted Celestia "You have an opportunity now, to take her place. Together, we can show the nation what it truly means to fear the night."
Luna closed her eyes.
"You are a fool," said Luna as her eyes turned white
She banged her hoofs on the ground, and it broke her prison.
"So be it," replied Sombra
He turned into a giant shadow as Luna charged into him. Luna fell to the ground and was soon in a dark magic daze.
"Such a shame," said Sombra turning back into his original form
Luna was standing there until she started laughing manically as her voice changed.
"You think you've found an ally in darkness?" asked Luna "Do you comprehend the powers you were gifted with? The same powers I was born into?"
Luna's eyes started to turn demon like as she walked towards Sombra.
"Where do you think the shadows go to hide from the precious light?" asked Luna "Just who do you think stands against them? What you possess is a mere fraction of their might. The same might I stand unyielding against each and every night"
"STAY BACK!" yelled Sombra, shooting a magic beam at her.
Luna blocked the shot with her sword.
"You are nothing compared to them," said Luna "You are nothing compared to me."
Luna charged at Sombra as her coat turned black and her mane's color darkened. She pointed her sword at Sombra. He started to get scared.
"YOU CLAIM TO KNOW FEAR?!" yelled Luna "I SHALL SHOW YOU TRUE TERROR!"
"What…are you?" asked Sombra
"I…am a nightmare."
Sombra cast a spell on Luna. Then she struck him. Then everything went black. A moment later Celestia opened her eyes and saw that she was on snow.
"LUNA?!" yelled Celestia.
"What is it?" asked Luna flying down to her.
"Thank goodness your alright."
They hugged for a couple seconds and Celestia started looking around.
"Where are we?" asked Celestia "What happened to..."
"Sombra is no more" explained Luna "But the empire…he…I"
"To banish an entire empire like that. How much hatred and power were we truly facing? I'm just glad you were unharmed, and were able to get us both out safely. We'll need to bear news to this defeat to our subjects. Not every fight will be a victory. Come, it's cold. Let us return home"
They took off. What Luna didn't know was that a piece of Sombra was inside of her.
Princess Luna was walking around the castle she lived in, along with her sister, in Canterlot. She saw many royal guards watching the castle. She arrived at her sister's room and knocked on the door. Princess Celestia opened the door and greeted her sister. "Hello Luna."
"Hello sister. I was thinking maybe we could go do something," said Luna.
"That's a splendid idea, LuLu. Do you want to go right now? Just let me get ready," informed Celestia.
"Sure thing, Tia." Luna went to her room and waited for her sister to come. Princess Celestia opened the door and asked Luna where they should go.
"Wherever you want to go," was Luna's response.
"Maybe we could go to a café or something. They sell cake there, and you know how much I love cake," said Celestia.
Luna rolled her eyes while smiling and they made their way out.
Celestia and Luna were sitting down on a table in the café talking. They were enjoying themselves when Luna felt nauseous, and she ran to the bathroom. Celestia followed after her and saw Luna throwing up. She rushed over to her and asked her if she was okay.
"I'm fine. It's just that my stomach has been hurting lately, and this is the third time I've thrown up this week."
"Maybe we should take you to a doctor, Luna," suggested Celestia.
"Why?" asked Luna
"You've been throwing up for the past three days."
"Perhaps you are right."
Later that day, Celestia and Luna went to the hospital.
"Princess Luna," called the nurse
Luna started to get nervous.
"Don't worry you'll be fine," assured Celestia
Luna walked into the office and sat on the chair for a couple of minutes. Then a grey unicorn stallion with a white mane and a stethoscope as his cutie mark walked in the room.
"Good afternoon your majesty," greeted the doctor "I'm Dr. Get Well. So, what's the problem?"
"Well I've been sick for a of couple days, and my sister suggests I check it out," explained Luna.
"Well, what are your symptoms?"
"Headaches, fatigues, nausea, and vomiting."
The doctor took a few notes
"If you don't mind your majesty, I would like to run a few tests", asked Dr. Get Well
After a couple minutes of tests, Dr. Get Well walks back in the room.
"Well I got the results back," said Dr. Get Well "Congratulations your majesty. You're pregnant."
"But, I was never with any stallion, even before I was Nightmare Moon"
"But according to the foal's aura, there mustv'e been some magic involved", explained Dr. Get Well using an aura spell "Has anyone put a spell on you or used any type of magic whatsoever?"
"Well, my sister Celestia did use the Elements of Harmony on me to banish me to the moon", explained Luna
"Interesting…can you bring your sister in here?"
"Sure"
Luna walked to the waiting room and saw her sister reading a magazine.
"So how was it?", asked Celestia
"Sister, I have something to tell you", said Luna
"What is it?"
"I…Im pregnant"
"Your…what?
"Im pregnant. But I was never with any stallion"
"I know. If you were, you wouldv'e told me. So now what?"
"Well the doctor wants to talk to both of us. He said that my pregnancy might have to do with magic"
"Ok"
Celestia and Luna walked back to the room.
"Hello your highness, I'm Dr. Get Well", introduced Dr. Get Well "Now, we were taking a look at the foal's aura and saw some magic in there. Your sister told me that you used the Elements to banish Nightmare Moon to the moon. Is there any chance that they caused her to be pregnant?"
"That's impossible", said Celestia "The Elements have been passed down from generation to generation. Our parents wouldv'e told us if there was side effects to them"
"Well, your majesty, were there any other spells?", asked Dr. Get Well turning to Luna
"Well, there was a time before that", explained Luna "It was a thousand years ago, Tia and I were battling King Sombra to save the Crystal Empire before it vanished. Before I vanquished Sombra, he performed a spell on me. I thought it was a failed paralysis spell. It mightv'e been an impregnation spell"
"Now that you say that, I do sense a lot of dark magic in there", said Dr. Good Well
"So, your saying Sombra's the father of my foal?", asked Luna
"Precisely", replied Dr. Get Well
"Oh no", whispered Luna
"It appears that Sombra impregnated you, so his spawn can take over the Crystal Empire for him", explained Celestia
As soon as the two sisters left the office, they went back to the castle.
"So, what are you gonna do with the foal?", asked Celestia
"Im gonna keep it", explained Luna
"Why?"
"Because if I give it up, I'll regret it"
"But what if it rises and takes over the Empire"
"I'll make sure it won't happen"
"Very well, then I'll be there every step of the way"
It's been eight and a half months. Luna was now heavily pregnant. Celestia would always help her with her cravings, morning sickness, and mood swings. One night, Luna was about to raise the moon. Suddenly, she felt a small pain. Luna was about to fall off her balcony, but Celestia caught her.
"Luna, are you ok?", asked Celestia
"No, I think Im having the foal", replied Luna
"We have to take you to the hospital"
"But what about the moon?"
Suddenly, Celestia approached a couple pegasus guards.
"Good evening, your majesties", greeted one of the guards "How can we help you?"
"Luna has gone into labor", explained Celestia handing Luna to them "Take her to the hospital while I raise the moon"
"Yes your majesty", saluted the other guard
The guards took Luna to the hospital. Celestia flew in moments later. As soon as Dr. Get Well came in, Luna started pushing. A couple hours later, Luna had her foal.
"It's a filly", announced Dr. Get Well giving the foal to Luna
The foal was a dark blue alicorn with a red horn and black spots on her wings, flank, and hooves. Her mane was like Luna's. It was black and flowing, with white star sparkles in it.
"Oh Lulu, she's beautiful", complimented Celestia "What's her name?"
Luna thought about it for a moment.
"Well, her name shall be Umbra Moonlight", announced Celestia "Since her mane is like a shadow, and she was born on a full moon", explained Luna looking out the window and saw a beautiful night sky with a full moon
"That's a beautiful name", complimented Celestia "May I hold her?"
"Sure, I could use some rest", replied Luna
She nuzzled her foal and gave her to Celestia.
"Hi there Umbra", greeted Celestia "Im your Aunt Celestia, or Auntie Tia. Your the most beautiful filly I've ever seen, and I hope you don't end up like your biological father"
"Don't worry, Tia. She won't", assured Luna
Luna fell asleep, after giving birth to a bundle of joy.
