> One Thousand Tears > by Staying Sic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Eternal Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eternal Love The night was halfway through, as the princess of the night, Luna sighed, looking down off of the cloud she was rested on, laying with her front hooves hanging over the cloud. She laid her head in between them, closing her eyes to rest her hard worked body. That was, until she heard a pony quietly yell for her. "Psst! Luna! down here!" The hazel coated earth pony with a rust colored mane with just a tuft of gold waved a hoof at the cloud, trying his best to get her attention. His tail was of the same color, but wavy, unlike his mane, which was like a helmet of some sorts, which Luna found attractive. And not to mention his piercing blue eyes! Luna's heart skipped a beat, and jumped with excitement. "Baron!" She exclaimed, followed by a gasp, smiling happily as she quickly flew down from the cloud, landing on top of him, giving him a passionate hug, and peck on the cheek. "Where has Thou been? I missed thee so much!" Baron laughed gladly hugging her back, blushing from her soft lips. "Sorry, Luna, I've been busy working on our statue behind my house. But you know you don't have to talk like that?" She let go of him, placing her front hooves on the ground in front of him, looking him in the eyes. "Oh, yes, but it's how I'm used to talking. I'll try though. I have Missed you greatly! would thou like to... rest with me?" Luna smiled shyly, lightly kicking a hoof at the ground, looking away from his eyes. He used his hoof to raise her chin up slightly, and pressed his muzzle gently against hers. Lowering his hoof as he pulled his lips away from hers with a smile. "Better. And I would love to, Princess," he agreed. "What are thou waiting for?" She smirked, turning to the castle, slowly wagging her tail under his chin. She lead him along with her to the castle and ducked behind a bush. "Just don't let the guards or my sister see you. Outsiders are not permitted in thy palace." "Sure thing, Princess," He promised with a nod. "Can't you teleport us to your room?" "Not without us being spotted. The guards will send out an alert, and the first ponies they will check on is me and my sister. Let us get to a spot where the aura will not be spotted, shall we?" She suggested, looking at the side of the castle where no guards stood, and her bedroom window shone high above the ground. "Or I could fly you up when we get over there." "Or the peasant can leave, and you can go to bed, Luna," Said a familiar voice sternly, as she was jerked upward, now standing in the grasp of a guard, grinning deviously. "So, this is your little boyfriend, huh?" Luna had made the mistake of going on a date with the guard when she was young, and inexperienced. "Y-you!" Her anger couldn't be expressed through words towards the guard. "Septimus, I will have you reported to my sister before you can say..." She paused. He tilted his head, still grinning. "Say what, princess?" "Just let me go home, if I can't be with the mare that I love," Baron said, finally speaking up. "Yes, please let him go! He did nothing wrong, Septimus!" Septimus rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I'll make sure he gets back to Ponyville right away, your majesty." She sighed with relief. "Thank you." Septimus let Luna go, and pulled Baron by his mane towards him, as he began walking him to the gate of the exit. Before Baron was thrown out, he yelled to Luna, "I love you!" Luna smiled, feeling her cheeks turn a bright red. The gate closed, separating them both, while Septimus returned to his post. Luna walked inside, and upstairs to her bedroom, and laid in bed, resting her head upon her pillow, falling asleep almost immediately, after looking up at her moon, and muttered, "I love you too." *** The following morning, Luna was greeted by the glow of her sisters sun through the window. She stretched her hooves in the air, and yawned, slowly sliding out of bed, still half asleep. Once awake as she could get her self to be, she decided to shock her back to life with its warm water. She would then make sure that baron was okay. She bumped her flank against the night stand by accident when she turned to the door, sending an object off the edge, falling to the ground with a loud "THUMP!" "Hmm?" She quickly turned around, seeing the wooden craft that Baron made for her, and gasped. A few weeks ago, he crafted her a figure out of a wooden log into the shape of Luna. It was beautiful to her. What made it so beautiful was the skillful shapes around her body into the art. He also made it himself, adding to its physical, and spiritual beauty. The thud was enough to wake the sister of princess Luna, princess Celestia, who quickly swung the door open to Luna's room. "Glad to see you're awake, sister. Come. We need to have a talk about your little visitor last night," She said in a forceful tone, but not quite loud as the royal Canterlot voice. Luna felt her cheeks redden intensely. Her boyfriends gift to her rolled to Celestia by her magic, and was lifted into the air in front of her face. "Is this something that the peasant gave you?" "He isn't a peasant! He is very sweet, and he made me that himself," Luna said, her tone hardening against her sisters. "I could care less if he was a pigeon! He is not of royal blood!" Celestia said, stomping her hoof down, dropping the wooden figure, the sound of it hitting the floor and her hoof making one noise altogether. "You're just jealous because you've never loved anyone! You can't learn to love, because no one would ever love you back!" Celestia gasped. "Luna! He is an earth pony! You could never marry him, and you know that!" "I love him!!!" Luna screamed with her eyes squeezed shut. She didn't want her sister to see her cry, and charged past her into the halls of the castle. Celestia stumbled into the door from her sisters force. Once regaining her balance, she turned, and chased after her sister. Luna was cornered in the main hall, and turned to face her sister. Her facial expression was angered. Her eyes turned snake-like. her colors had changed and her teeth were jagged. Celestia stepped back, shocked and scared from what she had witnessed her sister become. "Luna..." "Quiet!" She snapped back. "Why is it you love this pony?!" "No one else comes to me at night!" Celestia froze, realizing that her sister was right. Luna never got to see any of her friends at night. They were all asleep by the time Luna was done with her duties. Except for baron. "Luna... I realize it now!" "It's too late, sister! If you can't let me be happy, then why do you consider yourself my family?" Celestia took a step forward, and was immediately blocked by a magical force field that Luna was holding her still with. "I will be the princess that everyone knows this time! All of ponyville will bow down to my hooves, trembling in fear at..." Lightning struck somewhere nearby, loud enough to shake the palace. "NIGHTMARE MOON!" While Luna laughed an evil laugh, Celestia felt the force field lift, so she took her chance to strike. Her horn glowed, before shooting a beam towards her sister. Nightmare Moon gasped, and returned a blow, their magic colliding. Their powers fought each other for what felt like hours. With both the sisters struggling to overcome the others horn, Celestia, having more years of experience, had the superior power over Luna. The beam extended over Luna's, shortening the magic stream of her horn, and was quickly gaining speed. Not too much longer, and the whole room was a blinding white light. Once the light dimmed down, the room was a mess with broken windows, and torn wallpaper, with a shaking Celestia in the center. Luna was nowhere to be seen. "I'm sorry sister. But it's for the best," She said, lowering her head, closing her eyes, and a tear dropping to the floor. "Guards! Clean this up! I will be busy with both the sun and the moon for a while..." *** 1000 years later After the mane 6 changed Nightmare Moon back into her original form as Luna, she hurried to find a good thinking spot. She found a creek where nopony seemed to be, so she took this spot, and laid next to the stream of water. "Baron... I'm sorry." She knew he couldn't be alive after these 1000 years. She looked up at the stars the same way she did on the last night she saw him. "I love you. Please forgive me..." Her voice became shaky, and quiet, as her lip trembled. The quivering princess buried her face in her hooves, sobbing quietly. "I have to visit his grave," She thought. She stood, and turned from the creek. The cemetery wasn't too far from where she was, so it wouldn't be that long of a walk. Once she arrived, it took her around thirty minutes to find his stone. She took a seat in front of it. "I love you, Baron. I was selfish and jealous of my sister." Her chest was pounding and she was still shaky from her time at the creek. That was when she realized it wasn't just her sadness that was making her shake, but the weather. A pony approached her from behind, and called her name. When she turned, she saw it was a guard from the castle. "Princess? I think it's time you come back to the castle." She nodded, and thought about the unfinished project that baron was crafting for her. "Actually... I have one more place to visit. I will come back to the castle once I am done." The guard nodded, and returned to his chariot, and began riding away. Luna left the graveyard, and followed the roads, passing houses until she came to the one that belonged to the late Baron. It looked vacant, but she knocked anyway. No one answered. "Well, it's not like anyone would get upset if I went in..." She thought. The door was creaky, and nearly fell off the hinges when Luna closed the door behind her. The house was quiet, aside from the creaking from the wind blowing through the walls. Dust coated the floor, and the fireplace on the wall. The fireplace had a mantle that was topped with picture frames which were also covered in dust. She walked to one, and blew dust off, revealing a picture of her. She was taken by surprise by this, but then saw baron next to her, kissing her cheek. It was the day they told each other how they felt about one another. Luna's lips curled into a smile, and she took the frame in her hoof, opening the back, and sliding the picture out, carefully folding with her hooves (despite the difficulty), and placed it in the saddlebag she was carrying the whole time. Then something caught her eye. A door was cracked open, so Luna decided to explore, instead of reminisce over pictures. She walked to the door, peeking in, seeing a pile of wood shavings, the smell of fresh cut oak floated through Luna's nostrils from the doorway. The door was opened the rest of the way, a life sized carving of her stood with a carving of Baron on a pedestal in the middle of the room. What really caught her eye was what was carved into the pedestal. It read 'Eternal Love' Luna was struck with a mix of emotions. A laugh mixed with a cry from pure joy of the sight in front of her. She ran out of the house, the grin still on her face, and teleported herself to the Canterlot Castle. Greeting her sister, she bowed quickly, and hurried to her bedroom, shutting the door behind her, and laugh/cried once more, before taking a deep breath, and took the photo from her saddlebag, and placed it against the carving of her on her nightstand. It was strange, her room was in perfect condition from when before she left. Celestia probably didn't want anyone to enter, in fear they would mess it up, like the guards deciding to look through her drawers, or sneak in for a nap. A nap. A nap sounded good. Once Luna kissed the photo of her and Baron, pulled the covers to her fresh bed and climbed in, she flipped her covers over her body. Looking up at the stars, the smile still not leaving her face, she once again said what she never got to say to him personally. "I love you, Baron." Her eyes closed, as she drifted off to sleep, the words from Baron's project locked in her mind. 'Eternal Love'
