> The Life of a Nacho > by Nah > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Part One: Deadly > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everypony! My name is Nacho, and I'm gonna tell ya'll a story 'bout my life! Now, where should I start... I know! How 'bout when my parents died? Well, here goes! One afternoon, I was practicing my flight in the woods. That day I was practicing dodging obstacles, when I heard the most horrible sound. A scream that overpowered the sounds of the woods. A scream from my mother. As soon as the sound hit my ears, I started flying as fast as I could in the direction of my home. Then, I hit a branch, head on. It never occured to you me to actually fly OVER the trees. That was what I was practicing, too! That was so embarrassing, even though nopony was around to see me. I thought No time to think about that now. I have to hur- I was cut off my another scream. This time, I heard Momma say something. I tried to make out what she said, though being deaf in one ear didn't really help. "Time to fly." I said spreading out my wings, then taking off again, being sure to fly over the trees this time. I was flyin' faster than I ever had before. I mean, it was pretty fast considerin' I was just a filly who was a "blank flank". A filly who practiced flyin' every single day! Anyways, I was flyin faster than ever. I thought I'd be home by now. Did I really go that far into the woods? I thought, as the wind stroked my mane. There it is! Wait, who's that? I saw a brown masked unicorn with a cutie mark that was a blood-stained knife holding an ax that was stained with fresh splatters of blood walking out of the cabin, apparently looking for something. "Little filly? Where are you? I know you're hiding somewhere! If you don't come out now, I will use magic to find you!" The mysterious stranger said. I was hiding on the roof of my home when I saw my father, who was an alicorn with red eyes, blue mane and tail, and grey fur, come up with some firewood on his back. When he saw the masked pony, he dropped the firewood and said, "Wha- Who are you? Why are you here?" I looked around, for a way to get in the house without the bloody unicorn seeing me. I saw it. I jumped off the side of the house, spreading my wings out to act as a parachute so the ax welding unicorn couldn't hear me land. Once I landed, I bolted for the back door, the one that the brown stallion wasn't standing at. I stood on my hind legs and pushed the door open slowly. I then looked around and saw muddy hoofprints leading from the door to the kitchen, This must be that unicorn out side's hoofprints! I thought as I followed the trail. I opened the door to the kitchen to see something I'd never thought I would see before. I vomited at the sight. There, on the floor, next to the stove, was the crippled, bloody, wingless, headless figure of my mama. My eyes widened in terror, then I screamed. I turned to run out, but I was stopped by the brown unicorn, holding my mother's head in one hoof, and her wings in the other."Wha-What d-did you d-do?" I said, trying to hold tears back. The unicorn smiled a sinister smile and said, "I made it easier to get to you. You see, she got in my way, so I got rid of her. Don't cry, little one. I won't hurt you." "NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!! I-I'll tell Daddy!" I screamed, dashing for the front door. When I got outside, I saw my dad, laying in a pool of his own blood, and the ax I saw that unicorn holding earlier sticking out of his side. I fell to the ground, my reserve of tears pouring from my eyes. I looked up and saw my dad's chest rise and fall slowly, then I started running to him, until I was running in mid air, but I wasn't going anywhere. I looked around and saw I was floating and glowing a reddish color. I looked behind me and saw the murder standing at the front door, with his horn glowing the same color that I was glowing. I wriggled around and tried to break free of the magic. Then, I started floating toward him until I was face to face with him. "You still gonna tell daddy?" The unicorn mocked, then went in to kiss me, but before his mouth touched mine, I kicked as hard as I could, causing him to yell. The magic released, and as soon as it did, I flew away as fast as I could. I heard him holler in anger. I didn't stop flying. I had been flying for about half an hour and I was far from the slaughter house. Okay, I think I'm far enough now. I need to rest. I thought while slowing down. "That... was close! A... A little... to... close for... comfort." I said, taking deep breaths between each word. Then, I realized what just happened. My parents were dead. My eyes welled up, and my vision blurred from the tears in my eyes. I said, "Wha-what just ha-happened? Who w-was that? Bu-but I uh, no. No. No! NO! This couldn't have ha-happened t-to me!" I just layed there for like three hours. I layed there, whimpering. The moon started to rise into the sky, although I couldn't really see it; it was to cloudy. I rolled over on my back, and I tried to get some sleep, but I couldn't. The ground was to hard, the air was to cold, and after what just happened that day, I thought I could never sleep again. I knew the dangers of being in the woods at night; I didn't really care anymore, though. I just wanted to see my parents again. Once, I ran away for three days, and I didn't see my parents for that entire time, but I didn't miss them as much as I did now. I knew they were still alive when I ran away. I cried, again, while thinking about that. I eventually drifted off to sleep after singing the lullaby my mother always sang to me.
