It was a nice day at the Wonderbolts HQ, Surprise, Fleetfoot and Misty Fly were doing laps on the runway, Spitfire was doing paperwork in her office. Juggernaut, Hurricane and Typhoon were training in the training room, Soarin and Rainbow Dash were having a pie eating contest. Rainbow Dash and Soarin had recently become marefriend and coltfriend, everyone was happy for them including Spitfire.
Spitfire was sitting in her office doing paperwork when there was a knock on the door. She called out, "Enter."
A grey mail mare with a yellow mane, by the name of Derpy walked in, she saluted and said, "Ma'am your mail." She placed the piles of mail on Spitfire's table and saluted again.
Spitfire nodded, "Thanks Derpy, as usual here's your muffin." She placed a muffin on the table which Derpy immediately grabbed. She saluted and eagerly left the room. Spitfire chuckled and looked through the piles of mail, "Let's see...bills...fan mail...permission stuff- whats that."
She picked up two letters addressed to Rainbow Dash and herself. She turned the letters over to find that they were from Princess Celestia. she carefully pealed off the Royal wax seal and removed the letter, it said.
Dear Captain Spitfire Flame,
We regret to inform you that Miss Rainbow Dashery's father, Spectral Night has escaped Canterlot's highest security prison. We have no intentions of alarming your team but we believe that he maybe coming after Miss Rainbow Dashery. We will be sending extra security to the HQ for your and the Wonderbolts protection.

"No... they put him away years ago... how could he escape?"
Spitfire was standing in Rainbow Dash's ruined house. Blood was stained all over the cloud floor, knives were laying on the floor; ranging from tiny daggers to large meat cleavers. Thankfully the meat cleavers hadn't been used. Cyan feathers and clumps of fur were laying around with the cleavers and the daggers.
Paramedics were strapping Rainbow down on a cloud stretcher; she had a deep gash down the side of her wing, and another deep gash along her left hind leg and her wing was broken at the base and in the middle. Some other stuff happened but they didn't want to talk about it.
Fluttershy was on the sofa crying when Spitfire walked over and sat down next to her. She asked, "Fluttershy? Are you ok?"
Fluttershy lifted her head and wiped her tears away. She nodded smiling weakly, she couldn't hold the torrent of tears back anymore. She wrapped her forelegs around her and cried into her shoulder. Spitfire couldn't help but feel sorry for her friend, Rainbow Dash was like a sister to Fluttershy and to see her friend being taken to the hospital because of her abusive father was heart wrenching.
As Spitfire hugged Fluttershy back Spectral Night was being put into a Prison Cart. He was resisting a little but the Guards held a firm grip. As the Guard to the left sneezed Spectral Night made his move, he bucked the the left Guard and then punched the Guard to the right in the face. He flew over to Rainbow Dash being put into a Medical Cart.
Spitfire saw Spectral Night flying at Rainbow Dash, her instincts kicked in and she put Fluttershy down as fast as she could and Launched off towards Rainbow's Dad. She head butted him in the stomach making him wheeze and fall back slightly. Spectral recovered faster than Spitfire and he leaped over wrapping his hooves around her neck, He kicked her several times in the stomach. Spitfire's face went bright red and she tried to push him off.
Spitfire thought rapidly, "If I don't do something quickly he's gonna kill me!" With the last of her energy she bucked Night Spectrum with her hind legs and then she punched him in the jaw, breaking it and knocking him out.
The Guards quickly flew over catching him before he hit the ground and literally threw him into the Cart. Spitfire crash landed on the porch and started wheezing, rolled up into a ball clutching her stomach. Paramedics rushed over, they strapped on an oxygen mask and put her onto another stretcher. Rainbow Dash and Spitfire were loaded into the Medical Cart and Fluttershy flew along with them to the Hospital. --------------------------------------------Flashback Over-----------------------------------------------------
Spitfire rubbed her stomach as she remembered what had happened. She shook her head and said out loud, "I'll give her the letter at dinner later." She went back to doing her work as she pushed the letters aside.
--------------------------------------------Meanwhile In The Mess Hall------------------------------------
"I WIN!" Soarin shouted, bits of pie in his mane and fur.
Rainbow Dash lifted her head up from her pie, she slammed her hoof down on the table and shouted back, "SO NOT FAIR!" She crossed her hooves and pouted.
Soarin chuckled and leaned over, "Rainbow its ok to loose. Your better at flying and Im better at eating pie."
"Fine. Speaking of flying wanna race?" Rainbow Dash stretched her wings.
Soarin rubbed his stomach, "Really? We just ate pie."
"Come on! Just a small race?"
"Fine." Soarin got up and stretched his wings. He followed Rainbow out onto the runway. "Ok whats the course?"
Rainbow stood next to Soarin and said, "We are going to start on the runway, then around the HQ, around the mountain, finally past Spitfire's office and end at the runway."
Soarin nodded and got into the starting position. Rainbow Dash signalled to go, they raced to the edge of the runway and then they took a sharp turn to head around HQ. Soarin pulled ahead of Rainbow as they were ascending to the top of the mountain, a sharp turn around the mountain and rapidly defending to Spitfire's office. A cone started to form around Rainbow as she was descending. When she got to Spitfire's office she immediately pulled up creating a Sonic Rainboom.
Spitfire looked up from her desk as she saw a solid Rainbow streak go past followed by a Sonic Rainboom. She gazed in awe as she saw the Rainboom, after a second a fainter dark blue streak passed by. She said to herself, "It looks like they're having a race as usual. Rainbow Dash must of lost the pie eating contest again." Spitfire chuckled before she headed outside.
Rainbow Dash finished the course and skidded to a holt on the runway, Soarin skidded to a hold a moment later. Rainbow wheezed, "I *wheeze* won!" She raised her hoof in the air in triumph before she collapsed on the ground.
Spitfire trotted up and said happily, "Congratulations Rainbow Dash for winning and not tearing my office apart like the last three times." Rainbow Dash rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment. Soarin held a hoof out and helped Rainbow on to her hooves. "Guys great race, I have to go and finish some paperwork. See you at dinner in half an hour." Spitfire waved and flew off. They waved back.
Soarin turned back to Rainbow, "So what do you want to do now?"
Rainbow stretched her wings and yawned, "Well I don't know about you but I'm going to head back to my room to take a nap before dinner."
"May I join you?" Soarin asked also letting out a yawn. Rainbow Dash simply nodded and flew off to her balcony, Soarin following her.
They touched down on her balcony and Rainbow opened the doors. She walked over to her closet and took her Wonderbolt suit off. She hung it up and tossed Soarin a hanger to hang his up. Soarin usually kept one or two suits in Rainbow's room just incase he needed a spare one. He hung his up and walked over to Rainbow's bed, Rainbow Dash was already on her bed stretching her joints. Soarin sat down on the end of the bed and waited for Rainbow to finish stretching. Rainbow finished after a minute and curled up into a loose ball on the bed. Soarin laid next to her laying a wing over her. They fell asleep almost instantly.
---------------------------------------------Half An Hour Later At Dinner------------------------------------------
Soarin and Rainbow Dash walked into the Mess Hall, they grabbed their trays and sat down at a table where Surprise, Fleetfoot, Misty Fly, Juggernaut, Hurricane, Typhoon and Spitfire were sitting at. Soarin and Rainbow Dash sat down and started eating.
Spitfire remembered the letter and pulled it out, "Rainbow Dash a letter came for you earlier today from the Princesses, I got one as well. Mine said that your Father had escaped Canterlot Dungeons and they believe that he is coming after you."
"Haha good one Spitfire, my dad's in the highest level security prison in Canterlot. Its virtually impossible to escape." Rainbow laughed.
"Rainbow please just read it." she handed the letter to Rainbow.
Rainbow opened the letter and began to read "No...no...no..." Rainbow scrunched up the letter in her hoof. She dropped it on the floor with out thinking and shakily picked up her fork trying to eat.
Everyone at the table was surprised, Rainbow Dash never started shaking for no reason. Soarin bent down and straightened out the paper. He read it and then slid it across the table for the others to read.
"Rainbow..." Soarin put a hoof on her shoulder and put a wing around her. Rainbow took no notice and continued to try and eat. Every time she tried to put food in her mouth the food would fall off the fork and back onto the plate.
Spitfire put a hoof on Rainbow's shoulder and asked, "Rainbow I know first hoof that your father is a bad stallion and I can tell that your trying not to think about it but you don't need to keep eating."
Rainbow whispered, "O-Ok" and put down her fork still shaking.
Spitfire turned to Soarin and said calmly, "Soarin please take Dash to her room, we will clean up the plates for you." Rainbow Dash stood up and very slowly and shakily started walking out of the mess hall.
Soarin smiled, "Sure, could you save me some pie?" Spitfire sighed and nodded. Soarin got up and quickly walked over to Rainbow. He put a wing around her to make sure she didn't fall and they slowly made their way to Rainbow's room.
Telling a Terrible Past and Night Spectrum's Coming For you...
Soarin and Rainbow Dash arrived at Rainbow's room, the double doors had her Cutie Mark in the middle and her entails 'RD' on either side. Soarin opened the door and they went in. Soarin turned around and said to Rainbow, "Rainbow why don't you go and take a quick shower?"
She simply nodded, went into the bathroom and closed the door. Soarin sat down on the bed and looked around the room, there were medals and trophies on various shelves. Wonderbolt posters were on one of the walls, on her bedside table there was a couple of pictures; the first one was a picture of her and her friends sitting in the Friendship Castle, the next was one of her and Soarin presumed her mother and the last one was of her and Soarin after her first Air Show. Soarin remembered that day, it was the first performance that included a Sonic Rainboom.
Soarin shook his head and looked at the clock, it had been twenty minutes since Rainbow had gone to get a shower. Soarin hopped off the bed and knocked on the bathroom door, "Rainbow are you ok? Rainbow?" Soarin waited for a minute and got no response. He knocked again, "Rainbow?" still no response.
Soarin turned the handle and slowly opened the door. He walked in and rushed over to Rainbow in the shower. Soarin walked into the shower and saw Rainbow curled up in a ball against the wall under the steaming hot water crying. Her back was red from the water and her wings drooped down by her side.
Soarin stook his hoof under the water and immediately pulled it back. He leaned over and turned down the hot tap and turned up the cold tap slightly. Rainbow started to shiver so Soarin stretched a wing over her to protect her from the hot water.
Rainbow felt no more water on her back, she looked up to see an icy wing over her protecting her from the water. She whispered, "S-Soar-Soarin?"
"Shhh, Rainbow its ok." Soarin lifted her up and pulled her into a hug. He asked after a minute, "Rainbow why were you crying?"
She looked up at him, "I-I wa-wasn't cry-ing!"
"Rainbow you don't have to put on a tough act around me, your my Marefriend I just want to see the real you. Were you crying about what your Father did to you?" All Rainbow could do was nod. Soarin said again looking through to the bedroom, "Rainbow how about we get out and dry off?"
Rainbow nodded again and shakily stood up, Soarin followed and stepped out of the shower. He grabbed a towel off the rack and quickly dried himself off. Soarin took another towel off the rack and started to carefully started drying Rainbow off. He stopped when he patted her back with the towel and she moaned.
He carefully pushed some of her fur apart and saw red skin. Soarin gasped slightly, "Rainbow your back is burned from the water."
"I know." Was all Rainbow said as she lowered her head in shame.
Soarin put the towel on the side and said, "I'll go and get a FirstAid kit from the Medical Bay. I'll be right back." She nodded as Soarin left the room.
Soarin came back a minute later with a kit in his mouth, "Ah ot te it." He put it on the floor and pulled out some burn cream. Soarin carefully dried her back and rubbed in the cream. Next he padded her back and finally he put a bandage over padded back. "All done." Soarin closed the kit and put it on the side.
Rainbow Dash stood up and walked into her bedroom. Soarin walked over to her closet and pulled out two blankets. Rainbow sat down and Soarin followed, "Here Rainbow." He handed her a blanket. "Could you tell me what your Father did to you?"
She sighed, "Ok so when I was filly my Mum died in protecting me when thieves broke into our house. My Dad blamed me for her death, and soon after he started hitting me and yelling at me for no reason. He had started heavily drinking since my Mum's death. One day about ten years ago he came home and started beating me up, he pulled out lots of different knives. He cut me down my side, across my leg and think on my stomach." Soarin was shocked at Rainbow showed him the scars.
"Anyway, he broke my wing, started abusing me and you know..." She stopped for a second and then continued, "I passed out from heavy bleeding and the pain. Spitfire and Fluttershy walked in, they took one look at me and my Dad. They rang for the Guards and Paramedics. My Father was arrested but he escaped and strangled Spitfire, she managed to knock him out but she also had to be taken to the Hospital." Rainbow finished and started to shake.
"Ohh Rainbow..." Soarin pulled Rainbow Dash into a pegasus hug.
"Soarin c-can you stay h-here tonight?" She looked up at him.
"Sure Rainbow. Of course I will stay." Soarin smiled and Rainbow let go and crawled under the covers.
Soarin hopped off the bed and walked over to the other side. He slipped under the sheets and wrapped his wings around Rainbow, their hooves interlocked. Soarin kissed her forehead and drifted off into sleep.
Spectral Night snuck into Cloudsdale and he found a bush with dark green berries. He crushed some up and put it in his mane and tail. He covered his lightning bolt cutie mark so it was just a green flame.
Spectrum walked down the streets looking around, he happened to see a grey mail mare delivering some late night mail. He flew over to her and asked, "Excuse me Miss but could you tell me where the Wonderbolts HQ is?"
"Sure, keep heading down this street until you get to the Coliseum, then turn right and walk down that street. You will see the HQ at the end of the road, its a huge building so its hard to miss." Derpy smiled and then she asked, "Why do you want to go to the HQ at this hour?"
Spectral Night dangerously smiled, "My Daughter is the newest member and I have some business to finish with her."
Derpy realised who he was, "Wait your S-Spectral Ni-Night!" She tried to fly away but Spectral Night was too fast.
"No one can know who I am!" He punched her in the face and broke both her wings. He chucked her down to the ground, staining the pavement crimson red. Her muzzle was bleeding and her wing was bleeding, Derpy passed out from the pain.
Spectral Night arrived at the Wonderbolt HQ, he flew around the building looking for the bedrooms. Along the way he found Spitfire working in her office, he remembered her the filly who knocked him out. He thought to himself, "Spitfire your next after Rainbow Dash." Two female Wonderbolt's talking in the gardens and three male Wonderbolt's in the lounge room arm wrestling.
Finally he found the bedrooms, Rainbow's room was in the middle. He found a small cloud and flew down, Night hid himself in the cloud looking into Rainbow's room. He thought, "Rainbow Dash you will pay for what you did to her. Who's that sleeping next to her? Must be her Coltfriend, he shouldn't be too much trouble to take care of."
He laughed quietly to himself, "Watch out Rainbow Miriam Dashery I'm coming for you..."
Derpy came too a few hours later as the sun was just starting to rise over Cloudsdale. She rubbed her face and pulled her hooves back in pain as she touched her heavily bleeding muzzle, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. Next she tried to stretch her wings but reeled back in pain again.
The realisation hit her as she remembered how she ended up like this. Derpy slowly and shakily stood up and started limping to the Wonderbolts HQ. between coughs of blood she said out loud to herself, "I-I need- *cough* to t-tell Dash- *cough*!" She slowly limped off to the Wonderbolt's HQ.
Derpy limped past the gates of the HQ and into the main building. Luckily there was no one around at this time so she quietly and slowly made her way across the court yard and into the the the south building. Derpy opened the doors, limped up the stairs to the second floor and along the corridor to a room with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on it. She knocked on the doors and slumped against them in pain and exhaustion.

Rainbow Dash woke up to a knocking sound on the door. She groggily sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. Rainbow half fell half slumped out of bed and walked over to the door. As she walked over she rubbed her burned back with her wings. Rainbow opened the door and stepped back in shock as a bloody and mangled Derpy fell onto the floor in front of her. She shook her head and rushed over and crouched down, "Derpy!! What happened?!"
Derpy coughed and wheezed but managed to say, "D-Dash y-your d-dad *cough* i-is c-coming- *cough* f-for y-you..." She coughed up once more before hitting the floor again and fading into darkness.
Rainbow felt tears coming to her eyes again as she saw one of her oldest friends lying on the floor in front of her partially covered in blood and wheezing. She wiped them away, walked closer to the door and yelled as loud as she could, "SOARIN!! SPITFIRE!! FLEETFOOT!!! ANYONE!!! PLEASE HELP!!!"
A few moments later Spitfire, Fleetfoot and other Wonderbolts rushed down the hallways and Soarin trotted quickly over. Spitfire pushed to the front with Fleetfoot and walked over to Rainbow. Spitfire asked Rainbow calmly as she could, "Rainbow what happened here?"
"I don't know Spitfire, one minute i was having a nightmare about m-my dad and the next minute D-Derpy was collapsed on t-the f-floor." Dash wiped her tears away again.
"Alright, don't worry Dash everything will be fine. The HQ has the some of the best doctors in the world here, Derpy will be fine in no time!" Spitfire turned to Fleetfoot. "Fleet go and get the emergency medical squad now!" Fleetfoot saluted and zoomed off down the hallway.
-------------------------------------------------------A Few Minutes Later-------------------------------------------------------------
Fleetfoot finally returned with the medics and walked over to Spitfire, Rainbow and Soarin. Spitfire signalled for the medics to start working on Derpy and for one of them to look at Rainbow's back. Spitfire asked Rainbow, "Rainbow how did you burn your back?"
Rainbow shrunk back and hid behind her mane not wishing to remember the previous night. Soarin noticed Rainbow and stepped up half in defence, "She got burned in the shower and thats it." Spitfire decided to not ask further and simply nodded.
As if on cue one of the medics walked over, "Captain Spitfire we are ready to take Mrs Hooves to the medical bay." The mare saluted, Spitfire nodded back and saluted, saying 'ok you have my permission to leave.'
The medics rushed off with Derpy safely strapped into a cloud stretcher to the medical bay. Spitfire watched them take Derpy away, as soon as she could no longer see them she turned around and addressed the 'Bolts around her, "Alright 'Bolts this morning has been shocking and surprising but we must not let this bring us down. I suggest that you all go back to bed for the few remaining hours and get some more rest that we really need. That includes you Fleetfoot and Surprise." Spitfire half glared at the two pranksters.
Everyone nodded and went back to bed, Fleetfoot and Surprise sharing, Spitfire and her sister Blaze also sharing. Soarin and Rainbow Dash turned around and closed the doors and climbed back into bed. After a minute Rainbow broke the silence, "I can't believe that my dad would hurt D-Derpy of all p-people..."
Soarin draped a wing over Rainbow to comfort her, "Don't worry about it Rain, before long Night Spectrum will be back behind bars and Derpy will be completely healed making her mail rounds and eating muffins from her muffin button."
"I guess your right Soar, but still every moment the guards don't find my dad is another moment he has another chance to hurt someone close to me!" Rainbow shook her head and tensing her body.
"Rain. Stop." Rainbow stopped. "Everything is going to be fine. I will make sure of it." Rainbow relaxed and hugged Soarin, pushing her head into his chest and breathing in his scent.
Rainbow sighed, "I can't believe this is happening, one minute everything is fine, and the next my dad has escaped from prison, he is coming after me and probably Spitfire, and Derpy is in the medical bay because of him! I wish I wasn't his child!" She yelled.
"OI KEEP IT DOWN IN THERE!!" Lightning Streak yelled from the room next to Rainbow's.
"SORRY!" Soarin yelled back.
"SHUT UP GUYS!!" Fleetfoot and Surprise yelled in unison.
"HEY! KEEP IT DOWN" High Winds shouted as well.
There was a loud thump and a thwack. Blaze yelled with catiousness clear in her voice, "OHH YOU GUYS ARE IN FOR IT NOW!!"
"EVERYONE SHUT UP NOW AND GO TO SLEEP BEFORE I COME AND PERSONALLY VISIT YOU ALL TOMORROW NIGHT!!" Spitfire yelled grumpily.
There was a moment of silence before everyone said in unison, "SORRY!!!" There was a lot of shuffling around and muffled voices before nothing could be heard.
Rainbow and Soarin hid under the sheets for a few minutes before popping their heads over the sheet when they deemed it safe to come out. They let out a few giggles but they were soft enough not to be heard. Rainbow calmed down and whispered, "Soarin I think we should get some rest, Captains orders after all."
"All right Rain, good night." Soarin kidded Rainbow's cheek and smiled.
"Good night Soar, love you." Hugged Soarin and closed her eyes, wondering what would take place later in the day.
Rainbow woke up for the second time that day and looking at the alarm clock that was on the bedside table, it read “10:45am’. She stretched her wings whilst sitting up fully before poking the sleeping form of Soarin in the gut lightly, which caused him to groan slightly and open his eyes for a second.
He opened his eyes a minute later and looked around whilst asking, “Why would you do that? It’s only 8…”
Rainbow laughed slightly and replied, “You should look at the time more. It’s more like 10:45.”
Soarin nodded closing his eyes once more trying to get back to sleep for a few moments only for him to shoot straight up which resulted in him falling off the bed onto the cold floor.
Rainbow got up whilst laughing and walked over to the wardrobe opposite the bed. She pulled out two flight suits, one for him and one for her.
Soarin eventually got up and slipped on the tight flight suit before walking over to Dash who was putting on the headpiece.
Once she was finished she turned to him and nodded before the two made their way out of the room and down to the mess hall.
On the way they saw Surprise and Fleetfoot heading in the same direction so Rainbow called out, “Fleet! Surprise!”
The two mares in question turned around and smiled slightly, they waited for the Dash and Soarin to catch up and when they did Fleet replied, “Hey guys.”
Soarin nodded as they kept walking down to the mess hall.
Once they arrived the mood in the hall was that of a morgue. No one was talking and simply focusing on their food.
Rainbow sighed as they walked over and got their trays before sitting down at their normal table that was already occupied by Spitfire who was looking over some reports. Rainbow sat down opposite her and asked, “Hey Spit? What is all of this?”
Spitfire also sighed and looked up from the papers before replying, “They’re reports of what happened the night your dad escaped. This is a serious matter Dash, he has already badly hurt Derpy. Who knows who he’ll hurt next so I’ve already requested that we have extra security.”
Dash looked down at her plate, suddenly not feeling so hungry and nodded, “I know… Derpy should never have gotten involved with this. My dad’s a cruel person who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants and that includes hurting ponies to the point of even killing them…”
“That’s why we need the extra security.” Spitfire replied before standing up and announcing, “Listen up! From this point onwards every single ‘Bolt will receive extra training in combat! Is that understood?”
Dash looked around the room as everyone replied almost in unison, “Yes ma’am!” Each ‘Bolt was serious and she could tell by the expressions they wore.
Dash smiled knowing that everyone was willing to stop her dad. Spitfire sat down with a content smile.
Rainbow thought to herself, “This is all my fault and nothings going to stop what is about to happen. My dad is a cruel, cruel stallion. I have to visit Derpy.” She got up and said quickly, “I’m gonna go visit Derpy. Seeya.”
And with that she turned around before spreading her wings then flying as fast as she could without breaking anything through the mess hall and out into the courtyard.
From there she picked up some speed and zoomed into the opposite building that housed the medical bay. She flew low to the ground and weaved around objects and pegasi until she finally slowed down as she was nearing the bay.
She forced her wings out to stop her then folded them as she dropped a few feet to the ground. Next she pushed open the bay’s doors only to be met with an almost empty room. The room was lined with beds and curtains that were pulled back except for one down at the end which she presumed was Derpy’s. A single nurse was at a desk in the far corner writing something.
She took no mind as she walked down the isle to the closed curtains. On the way down she saw a few other ponies sleeping with various injuries ranging from broken wings to head injuries.
When she finally made it to the bed she pulled back a curtain to see a damaged Derpy. Her wings were in thick casts with her nose also bandaged.
She forced a few tears back and sat down next to the unconscious mare. After a moment she said to her, “I know you probably can’t hear me but I’m so sorry… I can’t ever forgive my father for hurting my friends and the fact that he hurt you, well, there aren’t any words that I can say anymore… I can’t forgive myself for what happened to you and I will never be able to… You have every right to be mad at me and especially my dad so when you wake up don’t hesitate to punch me cos I deserve it…”
She got up once more and turned to leave when she heard a painful cough. She turned around quickly to see Derpy partially awake.
Derpy took a few deep breaths in before replying, “Dash… it wasn’t your fault… so I’m not mad at you… I’m sorry Dash…” And promptly passed out again.
Dash smiled to herself and wiped away a single tear before turning around and heading back to the mess hall.
- A few hours later –
Spitfire’s request had been granted and about 20 or so guards had arrived and been stationed around the compound. The Wonderbolt’s also started their combat training, a few of them messing around with some of the elements like fire, water, air and lightning. Dash and Soarin were part of the few, Dash messing with some lightning and Soarin messing with some water.
- Spectral Night –
He looked through the windows of the training room before ducking down into the bushes. He thought out loud, “It looks like the Wonderfails are actually learning some combat… this should be interesting…”
I sat on one of the training mats in the gym completely exhausted and covered in sweat from the intense workout we had just done along with messing around with some lightning on top of everything. I checked over my body only to find a few burns caused by the lightning building up in those area's.
I sighed and laid down on the mat before looking around the gym to look for a certain colt. I eventually found him still working out with some ice, with each step he took a small patch of ice formed under the hoof which didn't help since he was practicing some kicks at that moment.
I groaned and thought to myself, "How the hell can I control lightning?! I have to keep trying..." I forced my wings open then down to lift me off the mat and into the air. I hovered in the air for a few seconds before landing on the mat and closing my eyes. I concentrated on the air pressure around me whilst going onto my hind legs.
Once I could feel the pressure building up inside of me I opened my eyes before slamming my front hooves on the ground creating sparks of lightning to jump up around me. I flared my wings out for the lightning to enter my body and when it did I could feel the lightning coursing through my veins and each nerve making my every move static.
I focused on the dummy a few feet away from me and narrowed my eyes whilst lifting one hoof up causing the lightning to start swirling around the hoof.
I stretched the hoof out as far as I could for the lightning to travel through the hoof and out in front of me at the target. The lightning gathered up at my hoof and instead of shooting forward exploded in my hoof which sent me flying back into the closest wall and thunder to be sounded around the gym.
All of the Wonderbolt's present including Soarin, Spitfire and Fleetfoot stopped what they were doing and looked at me in shock from the sudden explosion.
I sat up slowly wincing with every movement and rubbed my head slightly. I looked at the spot that I had previously been standing only to see a scorched spot stretching a few feet in every direction and more annoyingly the dummy was still standing in the east same spot.
I shook my head before standing up again and returning to the spot in the middle of the room. I closed my eyes and went through the same movements again only for me to wind up back against the wall with even more burns on my fur.
Soarin stopped what he was doing and walked over slowly to me before sitting down a few feet away, careful not to get any of his ice on my burned skin. He sighed and said, "Rain, I think you should stop for the day."
I shook my head and replied, "I'm fine Soar, just a little tired."
"Rainbow, look at yourself. Your burned all over and exhausted. You need to stop." He said with caution clearly present in his voice.
I shook my head once more and returned to the mat only to have a hoof placed on my shoulder. I turned to the pony who was touching me only to see that it was Spitfire. She said bluntly, "Rainbow. Soarin's right. You need to stop. It won't do any good if your out of action tomorrow. Now go."
I flattened my ears and nodded, "Yes ma'am." I saluted before turning around and walking out of the gym down to the showers at the end of the hallway.
As I walked down it I thought out loud, "I could've gone a few more before stopping... I mean seriously, I'm stronger than they think..."
"So you are my little dashy." A voice said from behind. I turned around to be met with the person I definitely did not want to see ever.
My father.
I gulped and asked, "W-What are you doing here? I thought you were in prison?"
He smirked cruelly, "I was and now I'm back. Did ya miss the times we spent together?" He slowly got closer and closer to me.
I slowly backed away from him whilst shaking my head, "No. And I wish I forgot those times. All of the beatings and other things.. I had to go through simply because you blamed me for mum's death!"
He quickly walked up to me before slapping me across the face with one of his hooves, "Don't you dare speak of her!" I cried out from the unexpected hit and fell against the wall to the left of me.
He stood over me and snarled, "Looks like I have some work to do. Good." He wrapped one of his front hooves around my neck and lifted my up to his eye level. He squeezed tightly around my neck which caused me to go red in the face.
I tried to get his leg off my neck but it did no use as he looked over my body. He ran one of his feathers down my side and said lowly, "Now I see why your idiot of a coltfriend is with you. You've really built up your body over the years I've been away, I'm impressed." I whimpered slightly in fear of what he would do to me again. Last time was bad enough.
He punched me in the gut a few times before coming close to my face and whispering, "Ready to have some fun?"
I whimpered even more before shouting as loud as I would, "SOARIN!"
He backhooved me across the face and snarled, "Bad move little girl."
- Soarin's P.O.V -
My ears suddenly stood up as I heard my name faintly. I looked around the room to see all of the Wonderbolt's except for Spitfire still training. The said mare was looking at me in confusion.
She walked over to me whilst asking, "Did you hear that? It sounded like Rainbow."
I nodded, "Yeah I heard it. It came from outside." I turned around and walked over to the doors from my spot in the gym. I opened the doors with my wings and walked out into the hallway with Spitfire behind me.
I looked around quickly before shrugging. Spitfire looked around as well and stopped me before pointing down the hallway, I sighed and followed the direction her hoof was pointing. I stopped when I saw what she was looking at.
It was Rainbow but beaten up.
I galloped over to her without a second thought with Spitfire close behind me. Once I was over to her I saw that she was still awake and crying. I sat down next to her and draped a with over her before asking angrily, "Who did this to you Rain?"
She put her hooves up to her head and shook her head crying even harder. Spitfire also sat down and thought out loud, "If I had any guess I would say it would be Spectral Night..."
I looked down at Rainbow who seemed to nod slightly indicating that it was in fact him. Spitfire also nodded before shouting to the gym, "Fleetfoot!"
The said mare came galloping out of the gym a moment later, her mane a bit more wild than usual. She asked, "Yeah Captain-" She cut herself off as soon as she saw Rainbow.
"Go and get the medical team, now." Spitfire replied in full captain mode. Fleetfoot saluted before flying off at high speeds out into the courtyard.
I turned my attention back to Rainbow and stroked her mane lightly, it seemed to calm her down a bit but not a lot. I growled, "If I ever find that ass, I'll personally escort him to Tartarus. Broken wings and all."
"T-Then you'll h-have to wait in line..." Rainbow surprisingly replied whilst struggling to sit up. "That bastard's mine..." She managed to sit up and even stand up but not for long, her front legs gave out quickly and she ended up falling on to me which I didn't mind one bit.
I caught her lightly and simply kept her in my grip until Fleetfoot finally returned with the medics.
And when she did the medics brought over a stretcher for Rainbow. I stood up with her in my arms before laying her down on the soft cloud stretcher. Once she was on the medics grabbed onto the stretcher before trotting down the hallway then out of sight.
I sat down on the floor not sure whether to follow or stay put. Spitfire asked, "Soarin? You coming?"
I nodded happily before getting up and following the two mares to the infirmary.
