Chapter 1, memories

Rainbow Dash kicked a rock on the dirt road she was walking on.

Shying away from the hard kick, it bounced away from her.

Rainbow sighed.

She began to trot along the road. It hurt, being an old mare like herself, but it was worth the nice feeling of wind breezing against her face.

She wished she could fly once more.

To feel the ferocious wind, tearing at her mane when she flew.

But she was to old... to old for that kind of fun. To old for her wings to do what she wanted.

They whould only fold and unfole on command.

Looking at them now, she unspread them. Normal wings. Five feathers, blue like the sky.

She stopped examining her wing and trotted on.

She was going home.

Ever since she could not fly anymore, she had her house built on the ground, so that it was easy to get to.

She rememberd the sad memory.

Yawning, I got out of bed.

I stretched my wings, readying them for a long day of flying. Rushing down my cloud stairs, I ate my breakfast quickly.

I stepped outside, enjoying the falling sensation for a second, then opening my wings.

They slowed my down, yet I kept falling.

I pakicked and searched around for a cloud.

There was one near far down but near me, and so using my wings for prupulsion, I flew over to it.

I beat my wings on the air furiously, trying to slow down more.

It I hit the cloud to fast, I would just break through it.

And I did.

A puff of white surrounded my briefly as it burst.

I kept my calm though, and tried again, moving my wings faster than ever.

Landing neatly on the cloud I aimed for, I exhaled.

After a few emberassing moments of standing on the cloud, holding my hoof out, I finnaly managed to get two kind pegesi to lower me to the ground.

After thanking them a million times, I set of for the one friend I knew I could live with for a time long enough to find a new house.

Pinkie pie.

I smirked, remembering it all to well. Pinkie, of course, let me live with her for 2 weeks. Then I found my new house, which was not to far from hers.

I gazed up at the sky longingly, thinking how I would give anything to have that awesome falling sensation.

“okay. Are you ready, dashie?” Pinkie called.

She was standing on a huge platfrom, me on a seesaw directly underneath her. It was my idea.

Starving for a flying sensation, I wanted this.

“heck yeah!”

I saw her take a deep breath and then she jumped.

I ended up in the hospital with two broken teeth.

That, was a fun memory, although it ended painfull.

Chapter 2, run away

I stood now infront of my earth pony house.

Opening the door, I walked in and sat down.

It was nice to play a few memories now and then in your head.

I lay in the grass, on a hill, staring at the sky.

Pinkie Pie was at my side, staring also.

“Oh, Dashie. How long do you think these days will last?” She broke the silence.

“I hope never. But everything has to end sooner or later.”

She sighed.

She turned to face me, and I turned my head sideways.

“Dashie, lets run away. We can go to los Pegasus or soemthing, just forget the world!”

I turned to her, a smile on my face.

“You want to run away, huh? Two best friends, together forever.” I said, picturing it.

Her eyes seemd to sparkle.

“yeah!”

And we did. We mooved out here, in the middle of nowhere. The closest city was mane hattan.

Together, we bought a house. We decorated it, and we loved each other in it like sisters.

I didint love pinkie. Like, I was'nt in love with her. We were best friends, sisters, companions. Not lesbians.

I opened my eyes, only now realizing that they were closed.

I walked over to the fridge. Opening it, I pulled out some dasies, and ate.

I was not hungry, but I probably just didint feel it. If I didint eat, I would die.

So I ate, sitting there and enjoying the silence.

Chapter 3, a birthday

Dashie...

Daaaaaashie...

DASHIE! WAKE UP!

Startled awake, I jumped. I was having a dream about Pinkie. Creepy.

I was still sitting in a chair, a half eaten daisy on the table.

I ate it climbed upstairs, Climbing into our bed and getting a few more hours of sleep.

I woke a little before dawn.

Last night, I was comming home for work, happy that it was a friday.

Which means that today was a saturday.

Which means that today was no work.

“whoopie! Saturday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Pinkie shouted. Into my ear.

“whoopie..” I said groggily. “pinkie, can you keep it down? Its still only 4 in the morning. Are you really that exited for my birthday?”

“Oh, of course! Your getting old!”

I sighed with a smile.

“Pinkie, thank you. But can you please keep it down? Old pegasus here wants to sleep!”

Pinkie's smile became appologant. She lowered her voice.

“oops sorrie!” she giggled quietly. Then she snuggled back into the sheets, exhaling contentedly.

I sighed contentedly too now. I loved saturdays. Especially when it was a sunny morning. A new day, promising a fortune, or something good.

“hey, pinkie.” I asked after the party she threw me. “dont you miss twilight sparkle? Or aj and fluttershy and rarity? I mean, we just ran away. For all they know, we're dead.”

“of course, you silly filly!” She replied. “I miss them more than anything.I wish wwe could have told them where we were going or something. They would visit...”

We wanted to tell them. Were were going to. But then, as we thought about it, we realized. They would'nt really like us playing favourites. They would'nt like us moving away either.

So, without a word, we just left them. We would not respond to e-mails, or letters that came in the mailboxes of our old homes.

And so, we grew old together.

Chapter 4, my sadness

Yes, me and pinkie grew old together.

Not in the lesbian way, as I have already mentioned.

Snapping back into reality, I sat up, out of my bed. It was still saturday morning.

I got breakfast and set the table. For one person only. Then I rememberd that fluttershy would be coming for lunch. So I ate quickly.

Pinkie nodded weakly.

“Rainbow, Im leaving you, but that dosent mean that you have to leave this worl too. Be a good pony, okay? I love you dashie, my sister.”

And then she layed her head intot the soft hospital sheets and died.

A short memory, yet the saddest one that I have expirienced my whole life. I decided I could not go on, after that, without a friend, so I told our friends everything. What happened, where we were, why I suddendly came back.

They were not jealous of my favouritizm.

“Aw, shucks. As long as your our friend, we dont mind, sugarube!” applejack had said. “but ah' recon all of us are sad that pinkie passed on.” She looked down and took off her hat.

They forgave, and visited often. I now allowed myself to answer letters and e-mails.

I was happier.

Chapter 5, the end

My whole life, I did not forget Pinkie Pie.

I rememberd her by replaying memories in my head.

“memories are a girft, Dashie! Keep them, and dont forget them!”

I could her her voice in my dreams, telling the nightmares to back off, so that I could dream memories. Ones that have been forgotten, and ones that have been cherished.

My dear readers, memories are a gift.

Bad or good, they teach you a lesson.

Memories, are like “silk pajamas on a sunday morning.”
-rarity.

and now, my dear readers, is the time for me to say that it is the end.

But you may be wondering. What happened to our Rainbow Dash?

Well, she died.

But, not right after the story, a couple of months later.

Because, sooner or later, everything has to die.

let us now take a moment of silence for those of us who have left the world. (including pinkie.)

THE END.
