It Takes Three To Tango

She couldn't help but chuckle at it. Not the sight of her fillyfriend and drakefriend cuddle up as they sleep, though it was rather cute to see the dragon envelope the sleeping pegasus in his arms. No, what made Twilight chuckle was the fact she had a drake and fillyfriend. How did she come to share her bed with her assistant and what others may refer to as her brother, and one of her best friends now turned lover? Twilight took a seat at the foot of the bed to recollect herself, to wonder why the gods blessed her with two loves of her life and all the insanity it caused her. She shifted as her nightgown hugged her body, her lovers' gentle bodies inviting her. No, she wanted to reminisce for one more time tonight, one more time about her little herd...

She remember it first started with Spike. After weeks of grieving from rejection from Rarity, he finally came back from the personal tragedy, as sarcastic and wise-cracking as ever. However, puberty for the dragon changed him. Yes he did grow and his baby fat had been replaced with a more slender and wiry-muscled body, his voice deepened, his spines more pointed and budding wings formed on his back, but it was the personality that took a greater change than the physical form. Spike became more intelligent it seemed and a lot more humble than before. Instead of looking at himself as a perfect macho-dragon, he learned to point out his flaws to himself, this one character trait was one Twilight took note of more than anything else.

She remembered a year later she caught him staring at her more often than before and more frequently, during work, during meals, during visits to friends... She was baffled at first, surely Spike, her assistant and practical brother, was romantically interested in her. No, no matter how much she wanted to believe i- wait, she wanted to believe that? Why? Sure he was always there for her, he knew her like his back hand, he stuck by her through thick and thin, and she could not in her entire life think of functioning properly without him, but that didn't mean anything! She sighed to herself on that fateful day, she loved him, and there was a chance he loved her. So, with a long talk and a few dates that went rather well in her opinion, they became an official couple.

Then she went on royal business to Canterlot.

The day she got back, Spike was acting strange; jittery, fidgety, and guilty. No, there was no way while she was out of town h-

"Fluttershy kissed me!" he blurted at the dinner table. Celestia why?!

"What?!" It was Twilight's turn to shout.

"Twilight, I swear by the gods she came on to me, I would never, ever cheat on you!" He defended.

"Why would she do that?"

It went on like this for the night, questions and answers that couldn't be confirmed until Fluttershy was contacted. The next morning, Twilight went to the pegasus' cottage to ask some questions, some totally non-threatening, non-incriminatory questions. When the pegasus answered the knocked door, she looked like a wreck. Teary eyes, messy hair, and wrinkled clothes that haven't been changed for days was what greeted her.

"Fluttershy?" Twilight asked in a hushed and confused tone.

The pale yellow pony hugged the lilac one and sobbed deeply into her, shouting apologies to her. Twilight comforted her and invited the pegasus to her place, so they could all discuss the dilemma. She reluctantly agreed and soon the trio was in the living room of the library.

"I don't know what came over me," Fluttershy started. "Spike was just so generous and compassionate when he started to help out with all the girls. I know I shouldn't have taken it as a sign, but..." She broke down in sobs again with Spike and Twilight at either side holding her hand or rubbing her back for support. "I-I can see why you picked him, Twilight." Twilight couldn't be mad at Fluttershy, she was truly sorry and not to mention a shy pony to begin with.

"Shy, I don't blame you, really, I'm sure if I was in your position, I'd do the same." Twilight said, hugging her timid friend. Spike joined in, showing that he too held nothing against her. Twilight could feel the mare calm down, much to her and Spike's relief.

The mare held a soft grin after she fully calmed down. Spike couldn't help but talk up, trying to clear the air.

"You know, Shy, if it was okay with Twi, I wouldn't mind dating you too." He joked, much to Twilight's confusion.

"Really? Wouldn't that seem, I don't know, selfish? Of me of course." She replied. Now Twilight was reeling with confusion, were these two really having a conversation about open relationships in front of her?

"Wait you two, I don't know how I feel about this, this doesn't seem normal!" Twilight interjected, catching the attention of the other two in the room.

"Twi, we saved the land countless times, you became a princess, and I saved an entire empire. When have we as group ever been "normal"?" Spike countered. Twilight opened her mouth to reply, but at that moment, she became mute. That didn't explain this peculiar arrangement Spike was proposing though.

"Well, I just don't know how it will work, sharing you, Spike." She finally said.

"I could also date you, so it can be fair. If you want to, that is..." Fluttershy spoke up. Twilight was blown away now, dating a mare and a dragon? Was that allowed? Did she even like mares? Fluttershy was the most easy-going of her friends for sure, and she had nothing against homosexuality, but it was a whole other thing engaging in it!

"Fluttershy, I... I just don't know, I never been with any one other than Spike, not to mention another mare!"

"Neither have I, but maybe it will be exciting, you do have a great personality Twilight..." Fluttershy said as she blushed a bit at the unintended compliment. Twilight also blushed and Spike was mesmerized, wondering if his joke was actually going to become a reality.

"Maybe a trial date would help." Spike suggested after being silent for awhile. "We all go somewhere together and see how it works out, if it doesn't, end of story, if so, maybe it's worth exploring a bit more?" Twilight was still a little unsure about the whole thing, but after Fluttershy agreed to the plan, she decided Spike was right, one date as a trio to see if it worked or not, it only seemed fair to all of them at this point.

What followed was what Twilight will always remember as the most fun she ever had in one night. She couldn't stop talking with the two and found she could be herself with Shy just as much as she could with Spike, everything just seemed to fit. Even on dates with just Fluttershy, she felt comfortable and decided gender didn't count as long as the pony past it was someone you could see yourself with. She officially had a fillyfriend, and so did her drakefriend, and she loved them both as much as she possibly could.

"Twi, aren't you coming to bed?" Spike grumbled. She turned to see the dragon had awaken when she laid down next to him sub-conscientiously.

"Yeah." she replied, getting under the covers and kissing the dragon as he cuddled her as well. Twilight pecked the sleeping Fluttershy on her lips and finally laid her head on the dragon's warm chest. Their situation may not be normal, but when were they ever?

Small Steps

Fluttershy sat in her guest room of the Canterlot castle, finishing applying her pink lipstick for her date tonight. She was rather nervous because of the drastic change in atmosphere she was going into. Yes, she and Spike have gone out to dinner dates before, but they were in places like Ponyville's cafe, not the Gilded Horseshoe! She was used to dressing in her usual sweater and ankle-low skirt, not in the very little makeup and satin green gown she was in now. How can she get through the night without fainting? Why did Twilight have to get her and Spike reservations while she's working with the princesses on foreign relations?!

"Shy, you ready?" spoke a voice from her door, she turned to see a tuxedo clad Spike inviting himself in. Fluttershy's thoughts halted as the handsome dragon walked towards her with his square shoulders and polished scales, by the gods anypony would be lucky to have such a gorgeous date! "Shy? are you okay?" Spike inquired with a confused look.

"Yes! I-I mean... yes." Fluttershy responded, broken out of her trance. She completely forgot she was staring at him for a second and a wild blush filled her cheeks. Spike only chuckled and grabbed the petite pegasus by her hand to help her from her seat. It was his turn to stare at her and her form fitting gown. It always amazed Spike how even without make-up Fluttershy and Twilight looked beautiful, he even wondered why Shy even bothered with it tonight.

"You look amazing, though that's nothing from the ordinary." Spike quipped, eliciting a giggle from Fluttershy before he pulled her into a kiss, her lips tasting of a mix between strawberries and cherries.

"You look amazing too." Fluttershy replied after she broke the kiss. Spike held out his arm as Fluttershy wrapped it around her own, feeling taunt muscle under the black fabric. They headed outside where a chariot was awaiting them, courtesy of Princess Twilight Sparkle of course. They got in on either side and enjoyed the stroll around town, Spike pointing out sights she didn't get to see on her last visit. After just a few minutes, they came up to a large restaurant with classically styled pillars and ivy grown over them, above it all was a sign of pure gold and etched silver letters displaying the name 'The Gilded Horseshoe'.

One of the royal guard opened their door to which Spike and Fluttershy walked out of and into the restaurant. They were greeted by an atmosphere that seemed to elegantly yell class with it's crystalline chandelier, marble statues of noble ponies, and dim lighting. Fluttershy's eyes were wide with awe as she took in the look of the place. This must have cost Twilight a fortune!

"Greetings sir and madame, might you two be the ones Princess Twilight called ahead for?" a host asked them while holding a stoic look on his face that could rival any of Celestia's personal guards.

"Yes, we are the party Princess Twilight talked of." Spike spoke up, she must have mentioned something about a dragon in her call for the host to recognize. The host led them to a table seated inside a balcony overlooking the entire establishment, the amount of strings Twilight must have pulled to get her lovers this must be innumerable.

"I guess being princess has more perks than Twilight lets on..." Spike wondered aloud.

"This is incredible!" Fluttershy stated softly. Soon after, a waiter came with a complementary bottle of wine and took their orders, once this was done, the couple were left to their own devices.

"You know, Shy, It sort of confused me how you were always terrified of dragons but you seemed so interested in me when I was a baby." Spike said, pouring a glass of wine for the both of them, Fluttershy took a sip from her glass already, feeling anxious about being in the prestigious eatery.

"Well, I've seen pictures and read into dragons, and while I was always afraid of the bigger ones, I read the babies were harmless, and to be honest you were cuter than any picture I saw." Fluttershy explained. Spike closed his eyes and lowered his head as a grin formed on his maw, embarrassed at what Fluttershy said. He took a sip from his wine and poked at his ruby powder sprinkled pasta to taste it, finding it rather enjoyable to his palate. Fluttershy giggled at his reaction and grabbed his hand across from the table. "But now I see not all of them are big and scary, some can be helpful and kind and sensitive." she told him as she tried to hide behind her long mane.

The night wore on about conversations of their friends and their relationship and how they could make it up to Twilight when they got back. At the end of their meal, their bottle was half way done, leaving both of them tipsy.

"Mmmmm. Spike, have I ever told you how smooth and shiny you look?" Fluttershy asked through drowsy eyes and a small hiccup.

"I believe you did twice tonight." Spike replied, his tie loosened a bit and his jacket unbuttoned. They were informed their meal was free of course, and so they got up to leave but Fluttershy spotted something in the back she felt like doing; ballroom dancing.

"Spike, can we pretty please do one dance before we head back to the castle?" she pleaded, tugging his sleeve softly as she leaned on him, feeling a little disoriented. Spike looked back and saw not many were in there to begin with, so he agreed and led his fillyfriend into the room. Spike led her to the floor and grabbed her by the hip in one hand and held her hand in his other while Fluttershy put her free hand on his shoulder. Spike took the lead a they danced their way through the hardwood floor, swaying and stepping softly to the gentle music as they held each other close. Spike couldn't help nipping at Fluttershy's ear and hear her sweet voice give out tiny coos and giggles. To him, that was the sweet music he was dancing to. Fluttershy could feel his heart beat and felt calmed by it, using it as a sort of metronome for her to keep rhythm to.

After the song was over, they looked at each other and laughed, slightly embarrassed at what they did. They soon after left the restaurant and to the castle, where they laid on the bed and kissed one another.

"You're pretty graceful, Shy." Spike sighed as a yawn escaped him.

"You're not too bad yourself." Fluttershy yawned back, cuddling him. Spike nuzzled her as he felt his sleepiness take hold of him and silently fell to sleep with her.

Quiet Time

Even during the first few dates, there was still one thing Twilight worried about with her relationship with Fluttershy, and that was how much they had in common. Sure she felt comfortable and even warm around her, but what good would that do in the long run if they didn't have similar traits? Those doubts were soon quelled after their first date and since then, they have truly acted as romantic partners. Kisses, hugs, and a bed has been shared since, and on special evenings such as this, a couch was one of their favorite things to share.

Twilight laid back on the couch as Fluttershy did the same on her body, resting right below her breasts as Twilight held out a book for both of them to read, resting on Fluttershy's tummy. This time alone with each other was very much a time to bond silently. It was this time in the library where they would read about any topic that interested both of them, such as biology books, poetry, or translated tomes from other countries, and speak to one another only through body language. Simple gestures and certain looks took on very specific and new meanings during this time, almost like a language, and both mares spoke it fluently. It was these times with Fluttershy is where her doubts about the mare are doubly laid to rest.

Fluttershy twirled her mane around one of her fingers, which meant she was enjoying this book of Edgar Allen Poeny very much and would wish to come back to it one day. Twilight smiled at herself, quite proud she knew her fillyfriend's tastes so well. Twilight turned the page, but Fluttershy stroked her arm, signalling to go back, which she did until Fluttershy turned the page for her. Fluttershy looked up at Twilight and Twilight looked back, they smilied at one another and gave each other a kiss before returning to the book. They also did this from time to time, though she admits it sometimes gets out of control...

They continued on like this for quite awhile, with occasional outer thigh rubs to signal Twilight to give her the definition of a word Fluttershy pointed out and a game of footsie they liked to do while reading. Spike sometimes joined them when he got the chance, but this time with each other was very much their personal dates, just staying inside and reading with each other. Twilight felt something poking her chin and she looked down at Fluttershy. Apparently she spaced out and forgot she was reading until the yellow mare reminded her. Twilight started on the book again and they soon got back in this habit.

Twilight couldn't believe how beautiful Shy really was. She dressed modestly, but her body looked fantastic under them! Her hair was so long and silky, she just wanted to touch it all day long. Her feathers were the softest thing about her though. She kept a molted one under her pillow and she swore she never slept better since. This must be some form of pegasus magic she didn't know of. Maybe she should...

"Twilight." Fluttershy spoke up. Thoughts of the pegasus was getting to her head if she forsaken books in exchange for her lover! She turned the page and concentrated on the book, taking in the Gothic writing style that Poeny was known for, it used to scare her as a child the way he wrote of death and insanity, but she later grew to appreciate him for the author he really was. She remembered during her teenage years he was her go-to author, though she read him less nowadays, she still enjoyed herself immensely whenev-

"Twilight!" Fluttershy screamed. Twilight looked down once more to find the book was completely discarded and she was now feeling Fluttershy's breasts through her sweater. She gasped and quickly put her arms to her face, hiding her embarrassment and screaming apologies through them. Fluttershy hugged her pretty soon and kissed her horn, making the unicorn blush. Not long after, Fluttershy took her hand and led her to the bedroom.

After half an hour, they returned to the couch, slightly out of breath and both their hair and clothes slightly messed up.

"Now, where were we?" Twilight said as she took her spot back on the couch and Fluttershy on top of her. Minutes later Spike came in with the groceries he went to get.

"Hey girls, what're you doing?" he asked as he set the groceries in the kitchen.

"Reading." they both said simultaneously, making them both laugh out loud as they hugged each other. Spike looked on and rolled his eyes while he grinned, amused by their silliness. He set aside the groceries and joined them on the other side of the couch. The girls played with his tail as they continued reading. Twilight did feel a little bad about keeping him out so she invited him to read with them, which he gladly did. He never really did know about their secret language, but he did notice it from time to time, commenting on how at certain times Twilight lingered on a page more than others and how the two mares apparently read at the same pace.

"Are you two sure all you did was read while I was gone?" Spike asked, unsure of their current appearance.

"Yeah," Twilight replied. "I don't see why you would think otherwise." she continued, her voice sounding completely innocent, as Fluttershy just nodded in agreement.

"Well," Spike started. "I guess you don't mind then if I go upstairs, it should smell fine and-"

"NO!" the mares shouted at the same time, completely showing their shared guilt. Spike chuckled and kissed them both.

"Don't worry, you two can make it up later tonight." he said, getting out from underneath them and leaving them both as red as Big Macintosh's coat.

Mom

Spike couldn't breathe hard enough it seemed. He and the girls had been together for a week and decided to go to Canterlot to break the news to their parents. Twilight's parents weren't surprised about Spike, but Fluttershy caught them off-guard, after a brief discussion on how things worked between them, her parents didn't object, but told her to be careful about what she was getting into. Next was Fluttershy's mom. She seemed almost over-joyed that her daughter managed to go out of her shell long enough to find somepony, but somedragon as well. She hugged both Spike and Twilight and insisted they call her their mother-in-law, causing blushes to erupt on the trio's faces.

But now came the big one. Princess Celestia was known even outside Equestria as a just, benevolent ruler, never able to harm her subjects even for the most heinous crimes. How foolish these people were! There was one thing that could bring Celestia into a psychopathic rage, and that was anypony thinking they could take her only son, Spike, away from her. Spike could still remember when a young filly gave him a Hearts and Hooves card to him when he was an infant, when he showed it to Celestia, she went on a rant that all of Canterlot could hear about how she would exile the filly and her entire family if she threatened to steal Spike away from her like that.

Now here he is, in the princess's personal chamber with Twilight and Fluttershy on either side, trying to calm him down.

"Spike, don't worry, she's known us for years!" Fluttershy stated as she held his hand, which he held on to like a vice.

"Exactly, and there's no way she would exile us, we're like family to her." Twilight added as she rubbed his back. However, all this fell on deft ears as Spike looked forward with wide eyes and gritted teeth. Soon, the Princess of the Sun, Celestia, came in as graceful as ever in her royal regalia, looking at the three and giving them hugs and kisses.

"I must say, I didn't expect you three to ask to see me, but it's always wonderful to see my protege, son, and element of harmony holder!" she said as she seated herself across from them, smiling a genuine smile st the three. "So, what brings you here?"

Spike took one final breath, his condition calming down after he saw his mother was in a good mood.

"Mom, I think it's about time we talk about courting..." Spike said carefully, trying to stay calm about the whole situation. Celestia's smile faded to a look of shock. She stood up and went to her curtains to close them, not wanting anyone to look in on them.

"What about courting?" she asked sternly, causing Spike to nearly collapse on the floor and assume the fetal position and cry. Luckily for him, Twilight picked up where he left off.

"Well, princess, Spike has matured, as you've noticed, and he thinks it's time to... look for suitors. I mean, you would like to be a grandmother one day, right?" Twilight replied, trying to not offend the co-ruler of all of Equestria. Celestia just leaned back in her chair as she looked at Twilight in a way the lilac alicorn found uncomfortable.

"Twilight, is there something you're not telling me?" Celestia asked plainly, making Twilight squirm in her cushion.

"Well, you see, it's just that, well, Spike is my best friend a-and I just want what's bes-"

"You two are dating, aren't you?" Celestia asked, completely making Twilight stop and nod once. Spike could only silently pray to the gods she wouldn't be banished to another realm right there. He looked over at Fluttershy, her postured slouched as she looked in every other direction except Celestia's. Celestia stood silent in thought until she looked at the two. "Very well, I'll allow it." she said happily, causing the three to look at her in awe.

"Really?" Spike asked.

"Yes, I know you two will always be by me, and I think it only fair that a prince should date a princess." she said calmly, her smile returning to her mouth.

The two hugged and kissed each other as Fluttershy joined in for her hugs. "This is going so well!" she said, causing Celestia to raise her eyebrow.

"Going?" she asked under a chuckle.

"Well, mom, I'm in a polyamorous relationship with Fluttershy and Twilight, that's why Shy is here as well!" Spike said through a grin that died the instant Celestia stopped smiling as well. Her mane went stagnant and flat, as she hid her eyes behind it and raised from her seat once more.

"Spike, a word." was all she said as she motioned for Fluttershy and Twilight to exit the room, much to Spike's dismay.

It had been hours since the two mares saw him, they were worried, shivering with fear at what was happening to the dragon. It was 7:00 PM and the sun hasn't moved an inch since they all went in at 4:00 PM! No matter how much they tried to listen in, they were obstructed by sound-proof magic and two guards assigned to the door. Eventually, Spike emerged with Celestia, Spike looking as though he got back from speaking for far too long, and Celestia as pristine as ever.

"Well girls, I'll have you know that after a verbal discourse, I've decided I'll permit this relationship." Celestia said as Spike held a huge grin and and the girls smiled and cheered wildly. Well, Twilight did. Celestia took them aside and whispered to them "However, hurt my baby boy and I will see you two in nothing but your underwear, on a boat sailing to Gryphious, am I understood?" she said in a low tone, causing the two to nod as fast as they both could. "Great! It was so nice to see you all, take care, my little ponies~!" she said in a cheery tone.

"So, wanna go home?" Spike asked in a hoarse voice, causing the two to reply "Yes." and leave for Ponyville. Spike was surprised, his mother's reaction to this was quite tame.

Animal House

Twilight and Spike walked down the dirt road to Fluttershy's cottage. They wouldn't be visiting her, she was out of town giving a lecture about the importance of inter-species relations between higher and lower cognitively aware animals. So why were they going to her cottage? To watch her animals while she was away. Fluttershy tries to visit her drake and fillyfriend as much as she can, but even then, the numerous animals she looks after tend to keep her busy most days and she would more than often call on Spike to help her. This was Twilight's first time helping however, and although she read up on how to care for multiple animals the night before, she was still very nervous.

"Twi, you need to calm down," Spike said, noticing his fillyfriend's worried look. "I'll be doing most of the work, I just need you to keep the animals in order. Just think of them like the books in the library!" Spike tried to reason with the alicorn. However, books don't need food, baths, be cleaned up after, and make noise. All this was stuff Twilight couldn't handle. She was a mare of reason and logic, her greatest body part was her brain, not her muscles!

Soon they reached the cottage and Spike was greeted by various birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects swarming him. During his various visits, they began to see him as a "father" of sorts. Twilight looked on as he petted each one and felt a tinge of jealousy take over. She saw Angel hop up to her and she grinned lightly, kneeling down to pet his head and feel his soft coat.

"Alright everyone, me and Twilight are gonna take care of you while momma's gone, behave for auntie Twilight and things should be normal, alright?" Spike announced, auditing a nod from every animal until they all went their seperate ways. Twilight was impressed by Spike's ability to control them, maybe Fluttershy taught him a trick? No matter, she followed Spike into the hut and went over the day's plan with him. She felt a bit more calm now that she and Spike were in a more controlled area of Fluttershy's bedroom and she had a definite schedule to follow. She could totally do this for a week!

By the time night fell, Twilight flopped into the bed face first, completely exhausted from today's activities. She had to wrangle the badgers so they wouldn't escape too early from their recuperation period, keep the eagle from eating everything in the house, and actually wrestle the crocodile to stay in his own pond and not in the coy pond! Spike followed and sat beside her, rubbing her back gently.

"I'm sorry about today, Twilight, I would've helped you with the croc, but the bear and his back problems..." Spike tried to excuse.

"No, it's fine, I shouldn't have tried to offer to help..." Twilight replied tiredly, her face covered in the pillow that faintly smelled of Shy's floral shampoo.

"Well, if you want, you can go back, I'm sure Pinkie or AJ can lend a helping hoof." Spike replied.

"No, I wanna be with my #1 Drakefriend." she replied, grabbing his arm and nuzzling it. Spike laid down next to her and kissed her horn, making her giggle. Spike could only chuckle back as Twilight got under the covers and yawned. He joined her and spooned her body with his.

"Night, Spike."

"Night Twi."

Twilight needed to be carried in by Spike on her second day, she was completely knocked out at the intensive action she encountered today. The smallest event involved a lighter, Angel, and cupcake frosting. Spike sighed as he set her down and laid down next to her, worried about her well-being. He decided he needed to call over Applejack tomorrow and let Twilight rest up at the library. He turned off the lights and went to sleep with his lover.

Day three made Twilight want to cry. There was no way she would be able to explain to Fluttershy why the family of tortoises got scared so much they decided to take residence in a tree and refuse to go down. She felt completely dejected, even though both Spike and Applejack told her it wasn't her fault Angel found that kazoo that started this whole mess. Spike came into the room and hugged her, kissing her cheek.

"It's fine, really." Spike consoled.

"No it's not!" Twilight replied, tears spilling over as she hugged the dragon in front of her. "I can't do this! I'm a failure to both you and Fluttershy!" she shouted. Spike pulled away and gave Twi a stern look, eliciting the mare to look at him.

"You are not a failure." He said in an authoritarian voice. "There are some things none of us can't do, just like I can't use magic to your degree and Fluttershy can't organize like you, you can't do everything we can do!" Spike said, making Twilight look down and sniffed.

"I... I just want to be a good fillyfriend to her." Twilight replied. Spike nuzzled her.

"If you weren't, she would've broken up with you." he whispered in her ear. She broke away and laid down, sighing.

"Can I try one more time? Just to see if I can help both of you in some way?" she asked. Spike considered for awhile before giving a silent nod of approval as the mare smiled weakly. She took his hand and went outside again to fix the situation.

By the time Fluttershy returned, Twilight had gotten the hang of taking care of the animals, though she still faltered in certain areas. When the pegasus kissed them both and asked if they were okay, Twilight responded positively and a bit pridefully, learning something new and feeling accomplished as Spike looked at her with a proud look. The trio spent the day at the cottage, hanging out and recalling their exploits over the past few days and planned to create another one later that night.

Talk

Twilight sipped her tea once again. The grandfather clock in the corner was ticking louder than normally in her mind as the other four other Elements of Harmony bearers were sitting around her, staring at her to continue, but she felt a lump in her throat as they came in. She wanted to tell them about her relationship with Spike and Fluttershy, and she was confident they would accept her. But she now only realized there was a fine line between thinking of confessing something and actually doing it. Why weren't they here with her? Didn't they both know that it was today they would come out to their friends?

"Come on, Twi!" Rainbow Dash blurted. "I need to train for the next Wonderbolts audition next year, what do yo-" she was silenced by Applejack elbowing her in the ribs, much to her annoyance.

"Now, don't you listen to her, sugarcube. Just gather your thoughts and tell us when you're ready." Applejack said in a comforting way. Twilight gave a slight nod to show she understood and was thankful. After a deep breath, Twilight began to speak carefully.

"I'm not sure how to say this, so I guess I'll just put it bluntly." Twilight looked around as her friends were on the edges of their seats. Well, AJ, Rainbow, and Rarity were, Pinkie Pie decided to lay on the floor and was now staring wide-eyed at Twilight with her hands on her cheeks. "I'm in a relationship with both Fluttershy and Spike." she said and flinched, expecting to be bombarded with disapproving comments.

"Is that all, dear?" Rarity asked making Twilight looked at her with a questioning look which she gave to all her friends.

"W-wait, you're telling me that you all-"

"Knew? Yeah, of course. Why else would all of you get a booth at one of Canterlot's swankiest restaurants on Hearts and Hooves Day?" Rainbow replied nonchalantly. Twilight was stunned to say the least. Not only did her friends know, but they also seemed to not think it was a big deal.

"Wait, so you guys don't care one bit that I'm dating a mare and a dragon at the same time?" Twilight asked.

"Aw sugarcube, we don't mind one bit. Remember when me and Rainbow came out to y'all as a couple?" Applejack asked, making Twilight realize how she felt about that whole situation and how similar it was to this one. She blushed and grinned, hiding her eyes behind her fringe as she snickered at the similarity.

Rarity sat beside Twilight on the couch and patted the mare for support. "I actually must confess, I am a bit envious of you." Rarity declared, making Twilight focus on her.

"Really? Then why didn't you make a move on Fluttershy and reject Spike?" The alicorn inquired.

"Oh, I'm not envious of your partners, just the type of relationship you have, darling! What I wouldn't give to have two or three gentlestallions at my beck and call!" The alabaster unicorn mused. She relaxed into the couch, lost in a daydream.

"I'm still a little confused on the whole thing, so you guys are like swingers?" Rainbow asked, causing Applejack to glare at her.

"No, we all love each other equally and only love the other two. It's more or less like if you had two Applejacks I guess." Twilight explained. Rainbow's eyes widen and grinned at the thought as her wings stood on end. Applejack tried to snap her out of it and sighed and hoisted her over her shoulder.

"Well, Twi, Ah think RD and Ah need to go, see ya later." Applejack said hastily as she grabbed her fillyfriend and headed for the door. Twilight looked to the floor and saw Pinkie with the same expression and in the same position as when she entered, causing Twilight to worry a bit as she was the only one who didn't say a thing during her entire visit.

"Pinkie, are you okay?" Twilight asked softly. Not soon after, the pink pony jumped up and gasped as if she just figured out the answer tot he ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

"Igottagotwilightihavetomakethebestestmostawesomestpartythissideofequestriaforyoubye!" she shouted as she ran off to her house at break-neck speed. Twilight sighed as she got up to pick up the papers her friend's speed manage to loosen. She heard a coo from her couch and saw Rarity was still lost in her mind.

"Rarity!" Twilight shouted, snapping the fashionista to snap out of it and look at her surroundings.

"I-I would stay and help you Twilight, but I need to... fill out an order this afternoon, if you don't mind?" she asked as a blush formed on her cheeks. Twilight rolled her eyes and nodded, which the unicorn reciprocated and went on her way. Twilight managed to pick up the mess and went back to her tea. Not even a second after this, Spike and Fluttershy returned from the market.

"Hey Twi, we're back. What were you up to while we were gone?" Spike asked as he cuddled up next to his fillyfriend.

"Nothing much..." she replied.

"Well, just so you remember, tomorrow we're gonna tell the girls about us, okay?" Fluttershy chimed. Twilight went bug eyed and felt warmer all of the sudden as she gulped. It was TOMORROW?!

"Twilight, are you okay?" Spike asked, putting his hand to her forehead. "You're kinda sweaty..." He stated.

"Uh, I'm fine, just a little stuffy is all." she lied through her teeth. Spike waved it off as nothing while Fluttershy snuggled up to her. she sighed one last time, sipping her tea.

'Well, at least I won't be so nervous next time around...'

Kids These Days

"It is now 7:00 PM. Court is now closed for today, Princess Twilight will resume her duties tomorrow at 8:30 AM tomorrow!" Spike projected as the gathered nobles of Canterlot dissipated from the court and left, some feeling disappointed their requests would not be heard for today. Twilight rose from her throne and nuzzled her adviser/husband, Spike. Spike returned it as he grinned and kissed her horn.

"You're extra affectionate today." He said as they both went to their chambers. Twilight took off her crown and undid the bun in her hair as she sat next to Spike in their bed. She didn't grow much like Celestia or Luna did, but she learned she would eventually grow to their size with age. She wondered if her hair would also move like their's as well.

"Well, I feel I owe you a little something for taking over as sheneschal for awhile as I look after Borealis and go on my date with Fluttershy." She replied. Borealis was their adopted son, an earth pony with a dark blue pelt, navy mane and chocolate eyes. After heart-wrenching news about how dragons couldn't get ponies pregnant, the trio decided the best course of action was to adopt, and along came Borealis. Not long after Twilight and Spike sat on their Alicorn sized bed, they saw the door open to show a pale yellow mare and a small blue colt enter.

"Mommy!" Borealis shouted as he rushed to tackle hug Twilight, knocking the wind from her and ruffling her gown and fur, but she laughed heartily as she hugged back. "Auntie Fluttershy and I missed you and daddy." He said as he let go and jumped onto Spike and gave him his bear hug. Fluttershy looked on as she giggled and sat on Spike's side of the bed.

Fluttershy moved with Spike and Twilight to Canterlot when she was crowned sovereign. It took about three trips to get all the animals safely to the castle from Ponyville, but it was worth it in her mind. Not to mention that Borealis grew fond of the animals and would spend most of his time with his aunt anyway, due to his mother and father's busy schedule.

"Me and daddy missed you too, I'm sorry I had to leave so early from lunch, but you understand how people need me, right?" Twilight half apologized half reasoned with the foal as he flopped on the bed between Twilight and Spike as he scratched his nose.

"Can't you take the next day off and say you're sick?" He pleaded, his eyes growing big to try and persuade his mother to consider the proposition more in his favor.

"Now, buddy, she can't do that. Running a nation is a big responsibility and she can't play hookie like that." Spike spoke up, explaining the situation to his son. Borealis simply pouted as he gave a groan of annoyance.

"But I really, really, really miss you two!" Borealis whined, making Spike hold him in the air for a bit and sit him on his stomach to calm his son down.

"Is Auntie Fluttershy and her animals not fun anymore?" Spike asked as he felt Fluttershy lie beside him. Borealis looked at Fluttershy as she gave a fake sad face to show she was hurt by the thought her nephew didn't like her anymore.

"Auntie Fluttershy is great and all, but It seems like only on Sundays do we all get to do stuff together." Borealis confessed, looking dejected as the trio look on, feeling guilty. Twilight hugged the colt as he returned it and soon she felt Fluttershy join them and soon Spike entered the embrace.

"We're all really sorry Borey, really, if it were up to us, we would dedicate ourselves to you, but somethings are just meant to be." Fluttershy said as she nuzzled her nephew and kissed his forehead. Soon all three heard a cough from Twilight as it started to form into a full scale fit.

"Oh!" she exclaimed as she started to cough loudly and a bit dramatically again. "I seem to have fallen ill! I hope it's not contagious." Twilight forlorned in an over-the-top fashion as she looked at Spike and Fluttershy to see if they got the hint.

"Oh my." Fluttershy started as she gave a quieter, but still fake coughing fit as she covered her mouth with her dainty hand. "I think I caught it as well!" she gasped, her hand still over her mouth. Not soon after Spike started to give a spurt of his own as Borealis laughed at his father's haminess. Borealis gave his own rendition of a coughing fit, partly to show he got what they were doing and partly to not feel left out.

"Whatever shall we all do? There is no way we can hold court like this!" Twilight said in mock despair, putting a forearm over her head in anguish. "I suppose the good citizens of Equestria must wait a day for their princess and her family to recover from this travesty." She said as Borealis laughed and clapped his hands in amusement.

"Does this mean?" the colt asked in a hopeful manner.

"Yes, but in order for us to stay sick, you need to do all your homework and get to bed on time, alright?" Spike explained, breaking character for a second. Borealis gave a mock salute and rushed to his room to get started on his homework. The trio laughed and took turns kissing one another.

"You're going to deal with a lot of angry nobles the day after, my lieges." One of the guards posted at the door warned, showing he eavesdropped in on the conversation.

"It'll be worth it." was what they all had to say.

Fun and Games

Fluttershy gulped as she took off her shoes. Never in a million years would she believe she was going to do this with Spike. Spike was in the middle of taking off his jacket and pants, insisting he worked better without them. The preparations had been made and after vigorous stretching, she would become physically intimate with a dragon!

"Are you sure you want to do this, Shy?" Twilight asked, she insisted to watch over them as they do this. "If you feel uncomfortable at all, we both understand completely."

"Yes, ever since I saw you two do this, I knew in the bottom of my heart I wanted to try this." the pegasus answered, shedding her sweater from her torso, she figured it would get in the way and hopefully distract Spike a bit.

"I gotta admit, when you walked in on us, you kinda scared me. I didn't know what you would think seeing us like that!" Spike confessed, taking his shirt off and flexing his chest for his fillyfriend, causing her to grin as she came closer to him. She licked the frill that acted as his ear as he growled in a low tone, glad to see that she was ready for what was in store.

"I have to warn you, Fluttershy, he's flexible. Very flexible." Twilight spoke out as she sat down, ready to start when they were. Fluttershy only giggled at the notion of Spike being able to contort his body to try and get the better of her. Despite her usually submissive behavior, she could easily overpower Spike if she so desired, and he was soon about to find that out the hard way. Spike was busy laying the mat on the floor and gave Fluttershy a mischievous look. Fluttershy tried to get Spike to go on the bed to play, but he and Twilight insisted that it was more fun on a hard floor.

Fluttershy wouldn't have mind this, but to do this in the lobby of the library in the middle of the day?! Were her mates trying to get caught? Fluttershy started to second guess this whole ordeal, and Twilight could see it in her eyes.

"Flutters, are you okay?" Twilight asked, genuinely concerned for her fillyfriend. Fluttershy bit her bottom lip and breathed in a big gulp of air only to sigh it out. Fluttershy looked at both of them and saw a mixture of worry and preeminent disappointment in their faces.

"I-I'm just... what if we get caught?" she inquired, wanting to know if this is something they enjoyed and they didn't tell her.

"Oh, Fluttershy." Spike said as he got closer and hugged her for comfort. "Everyone does this from time to time, just yesterday when I went to Rarity's, I saw her doing it with Pinkie in her sewing room!"

"You're lying!" Fluttershy accused, not believing Rarity and Pinkie would do something so intimate with each other.

"Nope, they just finished up like nothing happened and we all had a good laugh about it." Spike finished. All the while, Twilight started to get a little antsy and was itching to see her mates go at it.

"Not to undermine you two, but I'm getting a little inpatient and was just wondering if this is still going to happen?" Twilight half spurted, sounding a bit too demanding for her own liking.

"It all depends on Shy, here." Spike replied as he looked at his other lover, seeing her mulling over what they were about to do here and now. Spike could have completely fabricated that story, but then again, Pinkie did have a way with words. And most everyone in town are open minded ponies, she knew something like this couldn't in anyway have them change their minds about her or her loved ones. Maybe she was just worrying too much about this. It's not like she hasn't done this before with Rainbow Dash when they were fillies.

"Okay, I think I can do this." Fluttershy replied, much to the giddiness of the dragon and alicorn. She and Spike got on their knees and took one final breath as Twilight grabbed the dial on the end table and spun it.

"Right hand: Green."

Vow

This. Was. Madness.

Celestia was always an understanding and open-minded pony, but what she was agreeing to and what would transpire was something she would never see coming. She and Luna had dressed in the formal regalia that was required for the ceremony, and she could tell Luna knew this was eating her alive.

"Celestia, please try to calm yourself. They'll still be around, and we'll still be in charge. This is just to show they really care for each other." Luna tried to reason with her sister. Years of being around modern ponies had taught her how to speak like they do, and she rarely used the 'Royal We' voice unless her country was threatened or she needed to drive home a point in court.

""I know, Lulu." Celestia responded. "But, in a way, I'm giving him away. And to two ponies to be exact!" She looked down and gave what could be considered a sigh of defeat. "I raised the sun, ruled as sovereign for a millennium, imprisoned you on the moon, and done countless other acts no mortal could ever dream of doing. And now for the first time ever, I feel like I'm getting old." Luna grabbed her sister's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze of comfort. Celestia returned it and prepared herself as Spike came down to the temple alter where his aunt and mother stood.

Spike's nerves were steeled and his stance firm, but inside, he was just as nervous as his mother. The small gathering of his friends and their family did help calm him down a bit though. It was Fluttershy's idea to keep the wedding private so she wouldn't faint from being the center of attention. However, Spike didn't care, he just wanted to be bound to Twilight and Fluttershy in the eyes of the gods. He looked up at the priests and smiled. It was the same smile he gave them all their lives, the one only family could give.

"You look handsome, Spike." Luna complimented, causing Spike to silently nod and grin wider. He wore the traditional wedding costume of the Imperial Republic of Dragons, a toga with a hood, and a dark purple sash with a crest of the nation he was laid in. He and his mother figured that shows of acceptance and pride in the dragon culture would help with relations between the two nations, but Spike did start taking a genuine interest in the nation and planned to make a visit there someday.

"Thank you, you two look like true rulers if I ever saw one." Spike whispered. Celestia looked every which way but at Spike, the thought of flying away through a window and not participating crossed her mind, but she would never abandon any Element of Harmony bearers, let alone her only child. No, she had to be strong for all of them.

Soon enough, two mares dressed in white gowns, veils and bouquets in their hands came through the temple doors. Spike put the hood over his head as the two mares came down the aisle and stood beside each other, with Twilight in the middle, ready for what was to come. Twilight was extremely giddy at what was to happen, she had always dreamed of this day ever since she started to date the two. She couldn't believe this was happening, she never thought she would see it due to their unique arrangement. Fluttershy on the other hand was shivering a bit, even in front of a small crowd of people she personally knew, she was still on the verge of being a nervous wreck. Spike held both of their hands and all three took to their knees as the princesses began to speak in unison.

"We who rule these ancient lands preside over those who wish to be bonded in holy matrimony. We as Royal Sovereigns of Equestria ask those before us if they have any vows they wish to say." The sisters chanted in a monotone voice. Spike was the first to rise and recite his vows to his brides.

"My two loves, I promise you that my love is true and equal like that of a scale. I promise that no other pony, dragon, griffon, nor any other creature the gods have put on this earth shall come between us. And if they do, may I be cast from this world and the one in the next life if I am proven a liar." Spike kneeled back down as Fluttershy took her turn to stand.

"S-Spike and Twilight, I vow to always b-be be-beside you two and support you even if... the world is literally against ei-either one of you." Fluttershy stepped down and Twilight came up.

"I, princess, Twilight, promise to my mates that I will provide and protect as I would the nation I inherit. I swear undying loyalty and strength to both of you through the years, I swear this on my honor and life." Twilight kneeled back down and the princesses chanted again.

"Then as regents of the earth granted to us we ask do you, Fluttershy, take Twilight Sparkle and Spike the dragon to be your husband and wife?"

"I do."

"Do you, Spike the dragon, take Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle to be your wives?"

"I do."

"And do you, Twilight Sparkle, take Spike the dragon and Fluttershy to be your husband and wife?"

"I do."

"Then by the divine powers ordained to us by the gods themselves, we rulers of Equestria pronounce you three, husband and wives." the trio took off their veils and hood and got onto their feet to come together and kiss each other, it was a bit awkward considering they were in a threeway kiss, but the temple was filled with thunderous applause and the newly-weds and their herd went outside to wave them off as they got into their carriage. Celestia began to feel light-headed and began falling over, but Luna caught her in time before she hit the ground.

"I guess call me Nana Celestia now..."
