> Best Day of Our Life > by nutcase4real > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Best Day of Our Life > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a glorious day in Equestria, all the birds were out and about, the shadows of the trees danced playfully along the ground as the breeze blew them to and fro, the sun beamed brightly, and even the grass seemed to be an extra vibrant green today. It was, for all intensive purposes, a perfect day. A certain rainbow maned pegasus observed all of this from the cloud she was resting on. She watched all the ponies below make themselves busy either by running a stall in the market, purchasing goods from the stalls, or going about their day to day lifes. Everypony seemed to be outside today she noted to herself. Pinkie Pie was bouncing about, singing some song or another, making everypony around her smile, Fluttershy was busy buying food for her animals, Rarity was magically pushing a clothing rack full of her latest designs into the post office, and Applejack was selling apples at her family's stand. Rainbow smiled as she watched all of them, but it fell to a thoughtful frown as soon as she realized that one pony in particular was missing. 'Where's Twilight?' she thought to herself, 'There's no way she should be inside on a day like this.' Rainbow Dash stood up and stretched. She gave her wings a few test flaps before jumping off the cloud and spreading her wings so she could soar through the sky. She flew towards the library at a moderate pace, enjoying the day as much as she possibly could before having to go indoors and miss even a little bit of this day. She expertly landed in front of the library's hard oak door and knocked, to which there was no answer. 'That's strange.' she thought to herself so she decided to just go inside. She opened the door and entered the library. The library was dark inside for some reason, which Rainbow Dash found eerie. "Twilight? Hey Twilight, where are you?" Rainbow Dash called into the darkened library as she looked around for her lavender friend. "Sorry, the library is closed today." came a scratchy voice from the stairs, "Oh, hey Dash." a dark figure said with a weak raspy voice. "Twilight? Is that you?" Dash asked with her eyebrow arched, while backing away slightly from the abrupt appearance of the mysterious figure. "Yeah," Twilight started coughing raggedly, "it's me." "What's wrong with your voice, why is the library closed, and most importantly, why are you inside on a day like this?" Dash asked as she opened a curtain. "I'm sick." Twilight said as she coughed some more before using her magic to close the curtain again. "You're sick? How?" Dash asked incredulously. "It's just a summer cold Rainbow Dash. I'm fine," Twilight started coughing again before weakly adding, "really." Dash walked up to Twilight and wrapped her wing around the lavender alicorn, "Oh no. You're not fine. You're sick, and I'm going to stay until you feel better." 'Besides this would be the perfect time to tell you my little secret.', Dash thought to herself. "Rainbow, I know you'd rather be doing anything else right now like flying or..." "What?! I'm right where I want to be right now. I'm helping a friend in need.", Rainbow Dash stated as she stomped her hoof to show her determination. Dash helped Twilight up the stairs to her room, and into her bed. She walked back downstairs and grabbed a glass of water for Twilight. She placed it on her nightstand after making her way back upstairs, and inserted a straw into the liquid so her friend would be able to drink it with ease. Twilight smiled weakly and said, "Thanks Dash." "You're welcome. So, where's Spike?" Rainbow Dash asked. "He stayed over at Rarity's last night." "Wait, what? Really?", Rainbow Dash asked as she tried to hold back her laughter as the image of Spike floating through the air with little hearts popping out of him entered her mind. "She asked if he could, since she needed a little extra help with an order she needed to fill, and he practically begged me so I said okay." Twilight explained. 'Good. Spike would only make things harder, but when is going to be back?' Dash asked to herself. "Oh, okay. So when's he gonna be back?" she asked. "He should be back sometime later today." Twilight explained. 'Well I have to work fast then.' "Until then, I'm going to help you feel better." Dash proclaimed, "So Twi, are you hungry?", she asked with a smile. "I'm sorry what was that?" Twilight asked. "What do you want to eat?", Dash asked with a smile once more. "A sandwich would be nice.", Twilight responded. "Okay, one sandwich coming up!", Dash said as she turned and walked out the door. She made her way downstairs once more and into the kitchen. Once there she perused through the cupboards until she found some bread, and she then went to the refrigerator and grabbed some lilies and lettuce. 'Man, I couldn't imagine being suck inside on a day like today." she thought to herself as she pulled out a couple of slices of bread, 'I just couldn't do it. I have to help her feel better, and I have to tell her my feelings, but how?' Rainbow placed some of the lilies on the bread along with some lettuce. She put everything back where she found it, and placed the now complete sandwich on a plate. She picked up the plate and started heading back to Twilight's room. She walked through the door and placed the sandwich on Twilight's nightstand beside her glass of water. "Do you want to do something together?" Dash asked Twilight. "Like what?" Twilight asked as she picked up the sandwich. "I don't know maybe... a board game," Twilight shook her head, "play some cards," another head shake, "or maybe we could just... talk?" Rainbow asked. Twilight took a bite out of her sandwich, chewed it, and swallowed before answering, "About what?" "Anything really." Dash stated, "Like maybe..." 'What if she doesn't feel the same way? I just can't bare to lose Twilight as a friend.' "what was it like before you came to Ponyville?", Dash finished. "Well it certainly was different," Twilight began so Rainbow Dash took that as her cue to get comfortable and sit down, "everyday I had to attend classes, study, read, ya know that sort of thing.", Twilight said with a smile. "Well did you ever do anything fun?" "What are you talking about? All of that was fun." "I mean the same kind of fun we have together here. Going on adventures, playing games, hanging out. I mean... I guess what I'm trying to get at is, did you do things like what we do? Did you have friends... like us? More specifically like me?" "No." Twilight said quietly, "I didn't really have any friends back then. I was so absorbed in my studies that, I didn't leave myself any time for anything else." Twilight said quietly before taking another bite of her sandwich. "Oh." Rainbow Dash said as she uncomfortably rubbed the back of her head, "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you or anything." 'Well that went well. Maybe...' Dash thought. "No, no. It's fine." Twilight quickly said, "So what about you?" "Huh?" she asked as her train of thought was broken. "Before I came to Ponyville, what did you do for fun?", Twilight asked with a smile. "Well I would train for the Wonderbolts, do my weather duties, and sometimes I would hang out with Fluttershy, but other than that, not much really." Twilight gave Dash a questioning gaze, "What about Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie? Didn't you guys 'hang out' before I got here?" "I knew of our other friends at the time, but... well... they seemed really... lame." Dash said as her ears pulled back against her head and an awkward smile plastered on her face. "And what about me? Am I 'lame'?", Twilight asked with a chuckle. "No way! I wouldn't trade your friendship for anything, not even the Wonderbolts!" 'Unless you want something more.' "I'm sorry if the question is hard for you." Dash said apologetically. "Don't be." Twilight said as she dismissively waved her hoof. "If I had been there, I'd have been your friend Twilight." Dash said quietly. "Dash, I was spending all of my time trying to unlock the mysteries of magic," Twilight said as she waved her hooves around making Rainbow laugh, "I never once thought about trying to make friends. In fact I thought that friends would be a distraction, but then I found the greatest magic of all right here in Ponyville." Rainbow Dash's eyes widened at hearing this, "And what's that?" she asked excitedly. Twilight chuckled, "The magic of friendship." she said as she grabbed Rainbow Dash's hoof in hers, "It's the greatest lesson that I've ever learned, and still continue to learn." Rainbow Dash smiled and pulled Twilight up into a hug, "Me too." she whispered into Twilight's ear. 'Now's the time to tell her! Now's the time.' Dash excitedly thought to herself. Dash drew in a breath, "Twilight I..." "Me three!", Pinkie Pie exclaimed as she pulled a very confused Rainbow Dash and Twilight into a hug. "How did you..." Pinkie Pie stared at Rainbow Dash with a large beaming smile, "My Pinkie Sense told me that a tender moment was about to happen with my friends, and I wanted to be a part of it!" "How did you get in here?" Dash asked. "The door was open, duh! I mean come on, it's a public library! It couldn't be a public library if the door is always closed and locked silly!" Pinkie explained quickly. "One of these days I'm going to figure out how your Pinkie Sense, and just you in general, work." Twilight said as she pulled her friends in closer. Pinkie Pie broke the hug and began bounding towards the door, "Okie dokie lokie!", she said as she hopped through the door and out of the room. Dash turned back towards Twilight and took another breath, but once again Pinkie Pie intervened. Only this time she simply poked her head in through the door, "Oh, and Dashie?" "Yes Pinkie?" she asked in a slightly aggravated tone. "Good luck!" Pinkie said with a giggle before disappearing again. Dash cringed a little and said, "Pinkie Pie, you're so random." 'And a huge mood killer.' Dash thought to herself. "Dash..." Twilight said in a mock scolding tone. "What? I meant it in a good way." "Okay, okay," Twilight relented, "would you mind doing something form me?" Dash stuck her chest out and said, "Anything! Just name it and I'd be happy to help!" "Would you read to me? Please?" Twilight asked as she pointed to a book across the room, "My eyes are starting to hurt." "Sure thing. What's the book about?", Dash asked as she walked over to it. "Well, it's a romance, but trust me it's really good." Twilight said with a smile. "Okay, sure." Dash said slowly, 'Rainbow Dash, you are such a softy.' she thought to herself. "Best Day's of Our Lifes?" Dash read aloud, "You know I don't normally read this kind of stuff, right?" she said with an arched eyebrow, 'But for you, I'd do anything. Even if it means that we can't be together.' "Oh, and I suppose that 'Daring Do and the Mysteries of Love', which was last checked out by you over three months ago, just happened to be misplaced by Spike or myself?", Twilight said as she placed her hooves on her hips. Dash chuckled and awkwardly smiled, "Uh... well, you see... oh come on! It has Daring Do in it!" she exclaimed defensively. "I know, I know. That's why I've already paid for the book. Consider it an early birthday gift from me." Twilight said with a growing smile. "So, are you up for some reading?" Rainbow Dash walked over to the bed with the book and opened it. A few hours later Rainbow Dash closed the book, and looked over to Twilight who was now peacefully slumbering. 'Maybe I should just tell her some other time.' Dash stood up, 'Or maybe not at all. If she doesn't feel the same way then it would make everything awkward, and I don't want to do that to her.' she stole another glance at Twilight, 'I'd rather have her as a friend than not at all.' Twilight had fallen asleep over an hour ago, but Dash just had to see if White Heart and Brave Hoof would live happy lifes together. Something about the story just made her keep thinking that maybe if Twilight and her were to become more than just friends, that this would be what their life together would be like, so of course she had to see if it would be happy. She placed the book down on Twilight's nightstand and grabbed the now empty glass and plate, and began to take them back down to the kitchen. 'I'll just clean these off and be on my way.' As she was leaving the room a very sleepy voice whispered, "Are you coming back?" Rainbow Dash thought about it for a few moments, "Of course I will Twilight." she said quietly with a smile. "Mmm, good." she sighed as she rolled over in bed. Rainbow Dash made her way downstairs, into the kitchen, and placed the dishes into the sink. As she washed them, she heard the front door open, and turned to see Spike entering the library. He walked into the kitchen, and waved at Rainbow Dash. "What's up Rainbow Dash?", Spike asked in a loud voice. "Shhh. Twilight's asleep.", Dash said quietly. Spike scratched the top of his head, "Why is she asleep?" Rainbow Dash pulled the dishes out of the sink and began rinsing them off, "Somehow or another she managed to get sick." "Oh, is she okay?", Spike asked with concern evident in his voice. "Yeah she's fine, but she needs to rest.", Rainbow explained as she dried the dishes and began to put them away. Spike started pacing around while rubbing his chin. He sighed a couple of times and started staring out the window towards Carousel Boutique. "What's wrong Spike?", Rainbow Dash asked after a bit. "Rarity wanted me to come back over tonight, and help her out some more, but I said I had to ask Twilight.", Spike said without moving his gaze, "But now, I don't know what to do." "Well I could stay with Twilight.", Rainbow said with a smile, after she placed her hoof on Spike's shoulder. "I don't know...", Spike started. "Spike, Twilight will be just fine. I promise." she said with a smile, "Besides, even if something did come up, you're only right down the road." "Yeah. Yeah you're right." Spike said with a small smile. "I'm sure Twilight wouldn't mind, and don't worry, I'll tell her where you are when she wakes up." "Thanks Rainbow Dash,", Spike said with a full blown smile that would've melted Pinkie Pie's heart, "you're a good friend." "Of course I am, I'm Rainbow Dash!" she said with pride. Spike chuckled and turned towards the door. As he began walking back outside he turned, waved good-bye to Dash, and left. Dash waved back before starting back up the stairs to Twilight's room. She entered the room and a sleepy voice called out to her, "Dash... who was that?" "Spike came back, but Rarity needed him for one more night, so I told him to go, and I promised to stay the night to keep an eye on you." she explained. "Okay." Twilight turned over onto her side and looked Dash in the eyes, "Thanks Dash." "You're welcome Twilight. I'd do anything for a friend.", Dash said as an incredible warmth passed through her, and she smiled brightly. 'Especially you.' Twilight stared into Dash's lipid magenta eyes and smiled weakly. She tried to sit up, but she was to tired so she opted to just remain laying down, and motion for Dash to come closer. "You know, I don't have a guest bed, unless you plan to sleep in Spike's." Twilight quipped quietly. "I could go back to my house and grab a sleeping bag." "Why don't you just sleep in my bed with me?" Twilight offered. 'Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh! The same bed, with her! Alright play it cool Dash.' "Um... sure. If that's what you want." Dash walked over to the other side of the bed and climbed in. Twilight resettled herself on her side and closed her eyes. Dash, with her head on the pillow, watched Twilight for what seemed like hours. 'You have to tell her. It's now or never!' But she couldn't think of what to say. Her mind was a total blank. 'Come on, you're Rainbow Dash! The strongest, fastest, and bravest pony of all time! You have to tell her!' Finally Dash whispered, "Um... Twilight?" "Hmmm?" she sleepily replied. "You know I care for you a lot right?" Dash said as her cheeks turned red. "Um-hum." Twilight sighed. "Like... as in... more than a friend." Dash hesitantly said. Twilight didn't reply, and Dash watched the gentle rise and fall of the blanket that covered her for a while. "Twilight... I... I love you." Dash finally said. The warmth she was feeling at the sound of her own words quickly doubled. She started to feel as if she couldn't bare being under the blanket for another second. 'I waited to long.' Dash glumily thought to herself, 'She's asleep.' As she began to fall asleep a sleepy voice said, "I love you too, Rainbow Dash." "What was that?" Dash asked, almost refusing to believe what she had heard. Twilight grabbed Dash with her hooves and held her gently. Dash could see that Twilight's muzzle was facing her and that her eyes were slightly open. "I love you too, Rainbow Dash." Twilight repeated. Suddenly Dash felt lips touch hers, and she closed her eyes and accepted the kiss that she had for so long awaited. When she reopened her eyes she was staring into Twilight's beautiful purple pools. Rainbow went back in for another kiss only to be stopped by Twilight gently pushing her face away. "What's wrong?" Dash asked in earnest. "I don't want you getting sick too.", Twilight explained as she stared into Rainbow Dash's pleading eyes. "Alright. I guess you're right." Dash said as she turned over and started staring at the ceiling with a euphoric feeling rushing through her body, "But what about tomorrow? How do we tell our friends," she asked into the darkness before turning back towards Twilight and quickly adding, "and will there be more kissing?" "To the kissing, definitely a yes. I don't think I'll be contagious anymore. I might not be now, but I don't want to take the risk. But as to telling our friends, I don't know." Twilight said thoughtfully, "But there is something I do know.", Twilight said. "And what's that?", Dash asked as she turned her attention back towards Twilight. "We'll find out together." Twilight said as she kissed Rainbow Dash on the cheek. That feeling of euphoria returned to Dash with that kiss, and she dreamily settled into her side of the bed. She wrapped Twilight in a gentle hug and thought back upon the day. As she drifted off into blissful sleep, the last thought that crossed her mind was, 'Tomorrow will be one of the best days of our lifes!' > The Next Day: Part One > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight Sparkle opened her eyes when the suns rays struck them from her window. She looked over at her clock and saw that it was 7:30 in the morning. She stretched and yawned while in her bed, and began to roll out of it when a thought entered her mind. 'Didn't Rainbow Dash stay the night?' She glanced around the room, but to her dismay she didn't see hide nor mane of her long time crush. 'Maybe it was all just a dream.' she bitterly thought to herself as she began making her way towards the door. As she opened it the smell of hay bacon and blueberry pancakes invaded her nostrils. Her stomach rumbled slightly at this smell and she hasted her pace towards the kitchen. 'It all felt so real. Maybe I should just tell her about my feelings, or just forget about them somehow. We're friends and maybe that's all we're meant to be.' Twilight thought to herself as she reached the bottom of the stairs. She walked to the door of the kitchen and said before entering, "Spike, breakfast smells great." in as cheery of a voice as she could muster. "Spike stayed at Rarity's again remember?", a familiar voice said from the kitchen. As Twilight entered her worries about the previous night were laid to rest when her eyes spotted a blue pegasus standing in front of her stove with a spatula in her mouth. She was skillfully sliding the flat portion of the utensil under a pancake and flipped it into the air, only for it to land back in the pan. The accompanying sizzle made Twilight's stomach beg her to fill it in a louder tone than she liked, but Rainbow Dash just spun around with a smirk on her face while still holding the spatula with her mouth. She placed it on the table and said, "Well somepony's hungry." Twilight smiled sheepishly and nodded her head bashfully. She slowly made her way over to the table and silently cursed her stomach for embarrassing her. Rainbow Dash chuckled and went back to cooking at the stove, while Twilight took a seat at the table. After a few moments Rainbow removed the golden brown flapjack from the skillet and placed it on a plate. She then grabbed the pan and placed it into the sink. She turned around to get the pancakes and bacon so she could serve breakfast to her new marefriend, but when she turned all she could see was Twilight's purple eyes getting closer and closing. Rainbow Dash felt Twilight's lips meet hers and her heart began to race. She closed her eyes and eagerly leaned into the kiss, effectively deepening it. She felt something wet poke her lips and she parted them. Almost immediately Twilight's tongue shot into the opening and began to gently explore the other's mouth. Rainbow used her tongue to softly caress her lover's and eventually the two of them were gently fighting for dominance. Twilight finally caved in and Rainbow Dash won the miniature war. Soon after however the two parted ways for a much needed breath. "What... was... that... for?" Rainbow Dash asked in between breaths, "Not that... I don't... mind." "I said there would be more kissing didn't I?" Twilight said after she caught her breath. She planted another kiss on Rainbow's cheek, and walked back towards the table with the food that Rainbow had prepared floating to the center of the table. With a small clink, the plates of food touched down on Twilight's small place mats, in front of two of the dining set's chairs. Dash walked over and sat across the able from Twilight. She watched as Twilight hungrily dug into the plate in front of her. The stack of blueberry pancakes didn't stand a chance, and the hay beacon disappeared shortly afterwards. Twilight looked up as she was wiping her mouth with a napkin. "What?" she asked. "Was the sandwich I made you yesterday all you had to eat?" Rainbow Dash asked before laughing. Twilight blushed a little, "Yes." she said quietly before belching. Rainbow Dash grabbed her sides and fell out of the chair she was sitting in, as Twilight's face got redder from blushing. After a while Rainbow Dash finally stopped laughing long enough to breath properly and to ask some questions. "Why was that all you had to eat?" "I couldn't really concentrate enough to use my magic. I was just so sick and tired and the coughing was making my throat hurt. All I wanted to do was go to bed, but then you came over." "You know all you had to do was ask for more, and I would've gotten you some more food." Rainbow Dash said with some concern. "I didn't want to burden you." Twilight explained. "Twilight," Rainbow said causing the lavender unicorn to look into her eyes, "I will do anything for you. Even if I didn't love you, as your friend I would've done it." Twilight smiled and her blush died down a little, "I know that now Dash, thanks." Dash stood up from the floor and walked over to Twilight. She pulled her into a hug and wrapped her wings around Twilight. As she pulled away she gave Twilight a light peck on the cheek and walked back over to her side of the table. "So," she began as she sat down, "do you want some more?" "No thanks. I have to open the library, and plus I want to finish my study on this one spell I found, so you just stay here and finish eating while I get started on that." Twilight said with a smile. "Okay. I'll do the dishes when I finish and come and find you after that." Dash stated. Twilight stood up, "Sounds good to me." Twilight disappeared through the kitchen door and Rainbow Dash dug into her pancakes and beacon. True to her word, she washed the dishes when she finished eating and went in search of Twilight. "Twilight? Where are you?" Rainbow called into the apparently empty library. She waited for a moment but there was no answer. She called again, but still Twilight didn't answer. "Hmmm, what can I do to get her attention?" Rainbow asked herself as she stroked her chin. She glanced over at the front door and an idea sparked. She walked over to it and opened it. The door chimed the bell that sat atop the door frame. "One minute please!" came Twilight's voice from below. Twilight appeared in the main room of the library and she began looking around curiously. "Did they leave?" she asked. Rainbow Dash snickered a little, but was able to cover her mouth before Twilight could notice. "Yeah, they left." she said. "Oh. Okay then." Twilight said as she turned around to head back down the stairs to the basement. Rainbow quickly trotted up to her, "I still have about an hour until I have to go to work. Do you mind if I stay here and hang with you for a while longer?" Twilight glanced over into Rainbow Dash's resplendent eyes and somehow got lost in them. She shook her head vigorously, "Not at all Dashie." 'Dashie?' Rainbow thought to herself, 'I kinda like the way it sounds coming form her.' "Awesome! So what were you doing anyway?" Rainbow asked. "I was researching a new spell." Twilight said as she motioned to the stairs that led down into the cellar. Twilight and Rainbow Dash walked down the stairs one after the other, until they reached the concrete floor. The air smelled slightly dusty and milldewy, but Rainbow Dash didn't mind. The room was filled with boxes packed with old worn books and other odds and ends, shelves filled with books were in placed creating aisles, each filled with books that had strange writing on them, and there was a single table with a lantern that was lit. Beside the lantern was a single book that was open. The writing looked ancient and Dash walked closer to investigate it. "Hey Twilight, why do all this books have strange writing in them?" Rainbow Dash asked. "These books were write during the reign of Discord over fifteen hundred years ago." Twilight said as she approached the book Dash was looking at. "Is this the book that has the spell you're trying to learn?" Dash asked while trying to make sense of the writing before her. "Yes it is. The spell I'm trying to learn will allow a pony to hold their breath indefinitely." Twilight said as she pulled the book towards herself. Dash watched as Twilight read the text in front of her and soon her horn lit up. There was a flash of light and Twilight looked up at Rainbow Dash, "Now I need to test it." Twilight said as she began thinking of a way to test this spell. "Whoa! Wait a minute! What if it didn't work?" Rainbow asked quickly. "You'll be right here to help me if it didn't, and besides I'm just going to hold my breathe as the test. That's not to dangerous." Twilight responded with a smile. "Okay, I guess that's true. What do you need me to do?" "All you have to do is stand there and keep track of time for me with this." Twilight said as she teleported a stop watch in front of Dash. Dash picked it up by the cord necklace and placed it on her neck. She looked at Twilight and smiled, "Ready?" Twilight nodded her head. "Begin!" Rainbow said as she clicked the watch into operation. She called out every minute to Twilight and after 4 Twilight finally spoke up. "I'd say that the spell was a success!" she said happily as she clapped her hooves together. Rainbow Dash shared in her excitement by giving a few hoof pumps into the air and woohooing. Twilight rushed forward and grabbed Dash's face and kissed her. The two mares played with each other's tongue for a while before Dash broke the kiss. "I have to go to work now." she muttered begrudgedly. Twilight lightly chuckled and said, "I'll be here when you get back, besides we still need to discuss how we're going to tell the others." "Okay." Dash muttered in an annoyed tone, "Work always gets in the way of the fun things in life." she said under her breath. Twilight wrapped her hooves around Dash's neck and pulled her into another kiss, "Feel better?" she asked with a smile as she broke the kiss. "Yeah." Dash said with a smile, "I'll see you in a few hours." Rainbow Dash flew to work. She entered Ponyville's branch of the Equestrian Weather Services, and marched straight to her office. She went through the forms that laid out the weather plan for the day, sent out requests for next weeks weather, and read some memos sent in by the rest of the team that consisted of their complaints and appraisals. She then went out and organized the team, and got everypony ready to complete the plan for the day. The work wasn't to hard but everything just seemed to creep by for her. She just couldn't wait to get off and see Twilight again. After Rainbow Dash double checked all of the teams work for the day, and concluded that it was satisfactory, she released them and closed up shop for the day. The citizens of Ponyville knew exactly what hit them when Dash came soaring through the streets of the little village. The only thing that was sent was a blue blur being followed by a rainbow trail. She skidded to a stop in front of the library and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. A look into the window revealed that Twilight had closed the library early. 'Why would she close early?' Dash asked herself. She looked back over to the door and saw a little note fluttering in the breeze she had over looked earlier. Dash took the note and read it. Dash, meet me at Sugarcube Corner after you read this. Love, Twilight "Sugarcube Corner?" she asked openly as she gazed down the road at the bakery. She lifted herself off the ground and flew over to the sweet shop. She landed in front of the door and walked inside. She saw that the place was empty except for the table in the middle where all of her friends and her new marefriend were sitting. She walked up and sat down next to Twilight, barely resisting the urge to kiss her then and there. "What's up guys?" Rainbow asked with a smile. "Okay Twilight, Dash is here now. Can you please tell us what all the fuss is about?" Applejack asked in a somewhat agitated tone. "Applejack!" Rarity scolded. "Um, I agree with Applejack, Twilight. I have a family of very sick mice back in my cottage that I must tend to. If you don't mind that is." "Fluttershy!" Rarity gasped. "And Pinkie Pie!" Pinkie said excitedly. "Well girls, Rainbow and I have an announcement to make." Twilight said happily. Dash leaned towards Twilight and whispered, "I thought we were going to talk about this?" "Well I thought that it would be best if we just told them as soon as possible, sorry." Twilight whispered back. Rainbow smiled and nodded before speaking up, "Guys, Twilight and I have decided to be each other's special somepony." Rainbow and Twilight smiled and looked at each of their friend's gasping faces. They said nothing or moved, until Pinkie Pie blurted out, "I knew it!" "Well congratulations!" Applejack said with a smile. "Well that's nice." Fluttershy added quietly. "I think you two make a lovely couple." Rarity added. The group went on for a few moments with everypony speaking at once, except for Twilight and Rainbow Dash. "So where did you two go on your first date?" Rarity asked suddenly and the other girls quieted down so they all could hear the answer. "First date?" Twilight and Rainbow Dash asked simultaneously. "Why yes darlings. Your first date, where did you go?" Rarity asked with large beaming eyes. "Uh... we haven't had one yet." Rainbow Dash said uneasily. "Oh? Why not?" Fluttershy asked quietly. "Well we haven't planned anything yet. We just got together last night." Twilight explained. Pinkie shot up and started bouncing around the room. She quickly grabbed everypony except Twilight and Rainbow into a group huddle. Rainbow Dash strained to hear what was being said, but for some odd reason Twilight stopped her. "Woo-wee! That's a great idea Pinkie Pie!" Applejack exclaimed suddenly. "I know." Pinkie stated. "Yes, I must agree with Applejack, Pinkie. That is a wonderful idea." Rarity stated. "It sounds very... um, nice." Fluttershy said with a small smile. Rainbow Dash had had enough. She wanted to know what her friends had planned behind her back. "What are you guys doing?" Rainbow asked. "Just be here at eight o'clock sharp tonight, and you'll see!" Rarity almost squealed. Twilight placed her hoof on Rainbow's shoulder, calming her down tremendously, "Rainbow? Let's just come back at eight, okay?" "Fine." the stubborn pegasus huffed as she stood with Twilight and began moving towards the exit. "Remember to get snazzed up!" Pinkie added cheerfully. "What?" Rainbow asked as she stopped and arched an eyebrow in Pinkie's direction. "Come on Rainbow. Let's go back to the library." Twilight said with a smile. The two winged mares made their way outside and heard the door lock behind them. Rainbow shot a questioning glance over to Twilight. "What?" Twilight asked. "Aren't you even just a little bit curious about what they are planning?" Rainbow questioned. "Nope." the librarian/princess answered. "Why not?" Rainbow Dash practically whined. "I cast a spell that allows me to hear distant conversations." Twilight replied as a sly smile spread across her face. The two started off towards the Golden Oaks Library at a mild pace. "What are they planning?" Rainbow asked. "They want to set up a date for us tonight at Sugarcube Corner." Twilight replied with a chuckle. "Oh, okay." Rainbow said as she started to feel a little silly for over-reacting, "So what do we do?" she asked. "Well," Twilight said as they quickly approached the library, "first we go inside," the door unlocked and opened, "then we each take a nice shower..." "Can we take one together?" Rainbow quickly asked. "No. Spike is probably home now, and I don't want him walking in on us together in the tub." Twilight answered quickly. "Fine." "After the showers, we find some nice clothes to wear, and then we go back to Sugarcube Corner." Rainbow Dash nodded her head, "Sounds like a plan to me!" The two mares walked inside, "Good." Twilight said as she closed the door. > The Next Day: Part Two > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. She watched Twilight walk by the doorway and heard her steady hoofsteps as she made her way upstairs to the bathroom. Rainbow Dash sat in the kitchen waiting patiently, for what seemed like hours. She looked up at the clock and gasped when she saw that only a few minutes had passed. She got up and started making her way through the library. First she browsed through the Daring Do section, 'Nothing new.' she thought to herself. She continued through the library looking from one book to another, and eventually found her way upstairs. She wondered aimlessly from room to room stopping occassionally to look at an object of interest. As she wandered back towards the stairs to head back down, she heard the constant sound of Twilight's shower, and curiousity took over. She walked to the door and placed her ear against it. Inside she could hear Twilight humming sweetly to herself. Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and reveled in the musical notes her marefriend was producing. She slowly turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. Twilight was standing in the shower with the warm water falling down onto her shoulders. She magically lifted a soapy luffa and began to scrub her back while she continued to hum a song. She couldn't remember where she had heard it, but it sure was catchy. As she opened her eyes she could swear she saw the bathroom door close, but she thought nothing of it, and so she closed her eyes and continued humming the song. 'I know I heard this song somewhere before but where?' Twilight thought to herself. She closed her eyes and began to think about it harder. Soon an image of her mother came to her. She realized that she was in her room at her parent's house, and that she was younger. Suddenly instead of her own voice humming she heard her mother's. Her mother was humming the sweet tune to her and rubbing her back as she gently drifted off to sleep. 'So that's where I heard it.' she thought as a smile slowly spread across her face. As her eyes reopened all she could see was blue. "Gah!" Twilight gasped, "Rainbow, what are you doing in here?" "Well, your humming was just so beautiful. I just had to come in so I could hear you better." she explained. "And what if Spike comes in?" Twilight asked sternly. "Spike isn't here Twilight." Dash stated bluntly. "Look Rainbow Dash, I love you. I do, but I'm just not comfortable with sharing a shower with you." Twilight said quietly. "Why not?" Dash asked. "I feel like that would be moving things along to quickly, you know? I'd like to take things slow. I'm fine with us sleeping in the same bed, so long as we're not sleeping together." Rainbow Dash smiled, "Okay. I'll be down stairs if you need me." "Thanks Rainbow." Twilight said quietly as Dash walked towards the door. "No need. I'd do anything for you. If you think we're going to fast we'll slow down. I don't want you feeling uncomfortable." Dash said as she exited the room. Twilight finished her shower about half an hour later, making sure to clean every inch of her body. She hopped out and walked over to the mirror. She levitated a towel to herself and began to dry her body, followed by her tail and mane. She casted a spell to expel any remaining water from her body, and went to work brushing her mane. As she stepped out of the bathroom and the cool air of the hallway hit her, she heard voices loft up the stairs from some where below. Twilight made her way downstairs to find Spike sitting at the table with Rainbow Dash. "Hey Spike, did you have fun at Rarity's?" Twilight asked as she entered the kitchen. "Yeah." Spike said in a downtrodden tone. "What's wrong?" Twilight asked with concern evident in her voice. "Spike here asked Rarity if she would ever go on a date with him," Rainbow said as she patted his back, "and Rarity said no." "Oh Spike," Twilight started sympathetically, "I'm sorry to hear that, but Rarity is an adult mare and you're... you're a baby dragon." Twilight said as she moved closer to him. "I know." Spike said as he drew circles on the table with his claw. "Why don't you tell her the rest of it?" Rainbow asked with a small smile. "Because, I'm not doing it." Spike muttered. "Please tell me Spike." Twilight said as she batted her eyes. Spike sighed, "Fine. She said to be at Sugarcube Corner tonight at eight. She said she knows the perfect filly for me." "When did she tell you this?" Twilight asked. "A few minutes ago. I had just finished sorting out her fabrics, when she came in and grabbed a table cloth from her closet. That's when I asked her, and that's when she shot me down." Spike answered forlornly. "You should definitely go. You never know, what ever she has planned could be something that is totally awesome." Rainbow said. "Maybe you're right." Spike said. Rainbow nodded and got up from the table. She walked out of the room and started heading upstairs. "Where is she going?" Spike asked Twilight. "She's going to take a shower." Twilight answered. "Why?" Spike asked. Twilight gave a nervous chuckle as she tried to think of what to say, "She also has a date at Sugarcube Corner tonight at eight." "Wait! Rarity set me up with Rainbow Dash?" Spike asked incredulously. "Noooo." Twilight answered slowly. "Then who's my date, and who's Rainbow's date?" Spike asked. Twilight shifted around in her chair a little. She tried to swallow a lump that just wouldn't stay down until finally she decided that Spike and her needed to have a little talk. "Spike, as you know everyone seeks companionship, right?" she started. "Yeah." "And sometimes that companion may be of the same gender as the one seeking companionship." "Okay." "And that that is perfectly normal." "Sure." Twilight sighed, "Rainbow's going on a date with me, Spike." Twilight quickly spat out. "Oh, so you finally told her about your feelings?" Spike asked casually. "Well she told me hers fir... wait how did you know?" Twilight quickly asked. "We sleep in the same room Twilight, and you talk in your sleep." Spike explained. "Oh Rainbow, I love you! Hold me with your big strong wings!" Spike said while he did a terrible impersonation of Twilight, fake swooned, and batted his eyes. "I do not!" Twilight exasperated. "Oh yes you do! The things you say when you're asleep are the main reasons why sometimes you find me sleeping in the library!" Spike said as he started laughing. Twilight's face turned red, "I'm sorry." she said as she started giggling. Rainbow Dash reentered the room about five minutes later, her mane messier than usual, "Now what?" "Now we need to fix your mane and tail, while Spike here, goes and gets ready for his blind date." Twilight explained. "Okay." Rainbow and Spike answered in unison. Spike began heading upstairs, and Twilight turned to face Rainbow Dash. Although her mane was a mess, Twilight thought that this was the first time she had seen true beauty. Everything about her appearance seemed to define Rainbow Dash as who Twilight knew her to be. Her mane was wild and unkempt, yet somehow elegant. Her wings were big and powerful, yet graceful. The smirk on her face was proof of the boldness and cockiness of her personality, yet at the same time she wasn't any where near as boastful as she was before. She was all of these things to Twilight. She was Rainbow Dash, her friend, and now she was something even better. "Alright, lets go brush your mane." Twilight said breaking her trance. "And where are we going to do that? Spike's in the bathroom." Rainbow Dash pointed out. "We could use my room." Twilight said with a smile. "Sure, lead the way." Dash said with a smile to match Twilight's. The two mares made their way up to Twilight's room, and went inside. They walked over to the dresser mirror and Twilight levitated a brush over and started running it through Rainbow Dash's mane. "So pretty..." Twilight whispered. "What's pretty?" Dash asked as she looked at Twilight's reflection. "Your mane. It's so pretty." Twilight explained. "What? Pretty? No way! It's AWESOME!" Rainbow exclaimed, earning a smile from Twilight. Finally after a few minutes of brushing, "Okay, I think we're done here. Now we need to get dressed." Twilight said as she turned towards her walk in wardrobe. She looked over her shoulder and saw Rainbow Dash following her. "And just what do you think you're doing?" she asked in a somewhat playful tone. "You know I don't have that much in the way of clothing. Pretty much all I would have had that would've been good enough to wear on a date with you, is the dress Rarity made for me for the Grand Galloping Gala." Rainbow Dash explained. "Why don't you wear it then?" Twilight asked. "Trust me. It's not wearable any more." Dash stated in a very serious tone. "What did you do to it?" Twilight asked. "A Sonic Rainboom." Dash answered as she lightly kicked at the ground. "You did a Sonic Rainboom while wearing it?" the lavender alicorn asked with an arched eyebrow. "Yeah." Dash stated in a matter of fact tone. "Why?" Twilight bewilderedly asked. "Cause it was cool." Rainbow Dash said in a defensive tone. Twilight tried her best to act angry, but she just couldn't. A smile slowly crept across her face as she began to chuckle, "I bet it was." Dash smiled proudly and stuck her chest out, "Oh course it was! I did it, didn't I, and aren't I the coolest pony you know?" she asked with a cocky grin. "Of course you are. Come on, I think I have some things you might like." Twilight said with a smile as she beckoned Dash into her wardrobe. Dash walked in and was greeted with a modest amount of clothing. She perused through some of the dresses before her eyes fell on one that was about the color of her fur. It was a full length gown complete with train of extra fabric that followed on the ground behind it. "Where'd you get this one Twi?" she asked without taking her eyes off of it. "Hmm?" Twilight uttered as she stopped viewing herself in the mirror with dresses floating around her, "Oh that one? It was a gift from Princess Celestia." "The Princess gave you this?" Rainbow asked as she lifted the train of the dress. "Yeah. The Academy was hosting a dance, but she realized that I wasn't going. So she had that dress made for me and escorted me to the dance herself." Twilight replied as she switched her gaze back to the mirror. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! The Princess escorted you to a dance?" Dash asked. "Yeah. It was really nice. It was on that night that I knew I didn't like stallions." Twilight replied while trying another dress in front of the mirror. "So what happened after the dance?" Rainbow Dash asked as she walked up behind Twilight and wiggling her eyebrows. "Rainbow! Nothing like that happened!" Twilight laughed. "Can I wear that dress?" Rainbow asked with puppy dog eyes. "Sure." Twilight said as she turned around with a red dress in her magical grasp, "What do you think of this one Rainbow?" she asked with a smile while motioning towards the dress. "Definitely! You have to wear that one!" Rainbow said with a giant smile. There was a small knock at the door which caught Twilight's and Dash's attention. "If you girls don't hurry up we might be late!" came Spike's muffled voice. "We're hurrying Spike! We're hurrying. Just give us a few seconds to get dressed." Twilight called out. Rainbow Dash slipped on the dress she had selected and Twilight zipped it up for her, which Dash also did for Twilight when she put on the dress she and Rainbow picked out for her. Rainbow Dash stared into Twilight's eyes and she could swear that time stood still. Nothing seemed to matter anymore, not flying, not the Wonderbolts, nothing except the lavender mare in front of her. She was her friend, somepony she could depend on, and now she was something that was so much more special. Dash leaned in and kissed Twilight, deeply and passionately. That is until the door opened to reveal an impatient purple dragon drake. Spike blushed profusely, "Um... I... I'll be right outside." he said quickly before shutting the door and running from the room. Twilight and Dash knew he had seen them, but neither one of them really cared at this moment. All that mattered was the mare each was kissing. After Rainbow Dash pulled away from the kiss, Twilight chuckled to herself. "What?" Dash asked. "I don't think Spike thought he would see that when he opened the door." Twilight said as she chuckled again. "Yeah." Rainbow said before joining Twilight's chuckling. "Ready to go?" Twilight asked Rainbow. Dash took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, "Yeah, lets do this." she said calmly. The two mares walked out of the wardrobe and down the stairs together. Twilight opened the front door and Rainbow Dash walked outside, quickly followed by Twilight. Spike was sitting on one of the steps of the tree library, and turned around when he heard the door open. "Twilight... Rainbow Dash... I'm sorry for... well you know." he said in an uncomfortable tone as he rubbed the back of his head. "It's okay Spike. I expected it to happen sooner or later, although I would have preferred the latter." Twilight said with a smile. "So, are you ready for your blind date, Spike?" she asked. "Uh, yeah. Sure." Spike said as he visibly tried to gulp something that was in his throat. "What's a matter little dude? Are ya nervous?" Dash asked as the trio began walking towards Sugarcube Corner together. "Ye... yeah a little." he answered honestly. "Well don't be. Anypony would be lucky to have you as their special somepony," Dash stopped and thought for a second, "or... special somedragon?" On the outside, Spike only smiled weakly, but hearing this made his confidence in himself rise immensely. His stride became springier and his worries started melting away. 'Rainbow's right. I just need to have fun, and forget about Rarity. Besides, I'm sure she has found the perfect date for me.' he thought happily to himself. As the group reached the doors of Sugarcube Corner they all stopped. There was little light illuminating from the main floor's windows, which caused the trio to wonder why that was. Twilight knocked on the door, which was promptly answered by Rarity, who was holding a piece of paper in her magical grasp. "Hello there. Do you have a reservation?" she asked as she winked. Twilight caught on almost immediately, but Rainbow Dash on the other hand, "What? You guys invited us!" Twilight giggled, "Princess Twilight Sparkle, party of two." Rarity's eyes flashed to the list, and she pretended to read through it. "Oh yes here you are! Princess Twilight Sparkle, party of two. Please, do come in!" Rarity said before turning her attention to Spike, "And my! Such a handsome young drake, are you on the list?" she asked with a smile. "Um... Spike. My date, um, is either running late, or she may be here already; I'm not sure." he said. "Hmm..." Rarity said as she poured over her list once more, "Here you are. Mr. Spike plus one. Please come inside. I'll seat you in a moment." Spike shrugged, "Okay." as he walked into the darkened main floor of the bakery. > The Next Day: The Date > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike glanced around the darkened room and instantly spotted Twilight and Rainbow Dash. They were waiting by a podium, which Rarity soon walked behind. She led them off to a table across the room that was candlelit and had a bouquet of roses in the center of it. Spike glanced around and he could see Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie talking over by the door that led to the kitchen, and that was it. 'I wonder who's my date?' he asked himself. He looked up at Rarity with a small smile, "So... who's my date Rarity?" he asked in earnest. "Oh Spikey Wikey, trust me. The two of you are going to have a smashing time tonight." Rarity said with a smile. "Okay, but who is it?" Spike asked again. "Um, hi Spike." a voice said from behind the podium. Spike gulped and watched as Sweetie Belle walked out from behind her sister. She was wearing a light pink dress with matching shoes, that was undoubtedly created by her sister. Sweetie Belle uncomfortably shifted her weight around while smiling at Spike. Spike waved his claw, "Um, hi Sweetie Belle. Um, you look...," his eyes locked with hers and he could see his reflection in her green eyes, and for the first time he actually didn't care about Rarity shooting him down, "beautiful." he finished in a whisper after a moment. He shook his head slightly and held out his claw, "So are you ready?" he asked softly. Sweetie Belle visibly brightened, "YEAH!" Sweetie yelled before she cleared her throat and said in a quieter tone, "I mean, yes I am." she said with an awkward nervous smile. Rarity squealed as she clapped her hooves together, "Excellent! I'll show you to your table!" she said excitedly. Rarity led Spike and Sweetie Belle to a table on the opposite side of the room from Twilight and Rainbow Dash and floated two menus over to them. "Your server should be here soon to take your order." Rarity said pleasantly. Spike watched Rarity walk away, and looked back over to Sweetie Belle who was smiling. Over her shoulder he noticed Twilight looking at him so he waved to her. Twilight nodded and smiled, but Rainbow Dash turned around and waved to Spike while making kissy faces at him. Spike made a disgusted face and stuck his tongue out, which made Sweetie Belle turn around to see what Spike was upset about. Sweetie Belle caught Dash in the act of making the face and blushed, but she still blew Rainbow a raspberry while Spike put his thumb on his nose and wiggled his other talons. Pinkie Pie hopped over to Twilight's and Rainbow's table and cleared her throat, "Ahem. If you're finished playing, may I take your order?" Rainbow Dash smiled awkwardly at first, but soon it became a genuine one. "Yes. Um... I'd like a glass of water, and a Celestia Salad please." Twilight said calmly while glancing at her menu. "Your drinks have already been taken care of and should arrive shortly, but one Celestia Salad coming up, and what about you, Rainbow Dash?" Pinkie Pie asked in a surprisingly calm voice. "I'd like a Manehattan Salad with the works, and a side of cheese sticks." she said while licking her lips at the thought of the fried cheese. "Alrighty doodie dandy! I have one Celestia Salad, one Manehattan Salad with the works, and one order of cheese sticks." Pinkie said reading off her list and waiting for a confirmation from Twilight and Rainbow Dash. "Yep. That's it, unless you want something else Twilight?" Rainbow asked tenderly. "No, I'm fine." she answered with a smile. "Okay it'll be out soon." While Pinkie was taking the other tables order, Spike tried making small talk with Sweetie Belle. "So, um... how's the crusading going?" he asked slowly. "It's... going fine. How's the library doing?" Sweetie asked. "Fine. Just fine." Spike sighed. Sweetie Belle looked around the room briefly before resettling her eyes back onto Spike. "Sweetie, if Rarity forced you to go on this date, I'm sorry. I just..." "Stop right there Spike." Sweetie interjected, "Rarity didn't ask me to do this. I saw what happened earlier at the boutique, and well... I saw how hurt you were, and... I just couldn't stand it." Sweetie said. "What? Why?" "The look on your face. You looked like you thought that nopony cared for you, but that's not true." Sweetie explained. "Yeah, I was pretty bummed out. It's a good thing that I have Twilight to talk to." Spike said with a small smile and a glance in Twilight's direction. "She's not the only one who cares for you, you know?" Sweetie asked as a small blush appeared on her face again. "Yeah I guess Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and even Rari..." Spike was cut once again, but this time he was cut off by Sweetie leaning across the table and planting a small peck on his lips. "I care about you." Sweetie said with a red face and a smile. Spike's eyes were the size of saucers, and his mouth went slack. He shook himself out of his daze and gulped nervously. 'I think I was chasing after the wrong sister.' he thought to himself. "Spike? I didn't do something wrong did I?" Sweetie asked in a worried tone. "No. Not at all. I was just caught off guard. I mean um... heh... I don't know really what to say." Spike admitted out loud. "Well what do you want to do?" Sweetie asked. Spike thought about it for a moment, but he suddenly shot across the table and kissed Sweetie Belle who squeked in surprise. Before chuckling against his lips. This sound caught Twilight's attention who looked over to see her assistant leaning across the table, kissing one of her friend's sister. "Spike." she said sternly, "Arm's length distance." Rainbow Dash looked over her shoulder and started laughing as Spike ignored Twilight and continue kissing Sweetie. Twilight's horn lit up and she forced Spike back into his chair. Spike stared dejectedly at Twilight for a few moments before returning his attention to Sweetie Belle. "Twilight?" Rainbow Dash chuckled, "Leave the little dude alone. We're here for us. He can handle himself, and I highly doubt that he would do something that Sweetie wasn't comfortable with." "It not that I'm worried about. I don't want Rarity catching him doing that. There's no telling what may happen." Twilight said without taking her eyes off of Spike. Rainbow Dash reached her hoof out and stroke Twilight's cheek, "Twilight, you have to let him grow up. I know that you think that your the only family he has, and that you have to protect him from the world," Rainbow Dash smiled, "but you can't always be there for him. Right now he doesn't need his big sister. He doesn't need his mother, and please don't take this the wrong way, but he doesn't need you tonight." Dash said without letting her smile falter. Twilight's mouth was frozen in an "O" shape as she realized that Dash was right. Spike didn't need her right now. He needed to be allowed to make his own decisions. "You're right Dash, but those two are not spending the night with one another. Not until we know they can be trusted." Twilight said sternly. "Oh yeah, of course." Rainbow Dash agreed. Twilight glanced back over to the other table and saw Pinkie Pie taking their orders before happily bouncing away into the kitchen. Soon Twilight and Rainbow's orders were brought out to them, and a bucket of ice with a dark green bottle was placed in from of them. Twilight's eyes widened with realization, "Is that..." "Yep," Pinkie Pie said quickly, "champaign, all the way from Prance! Rarity said it's really good on a first date!" she chirped happily. "Wait you guys aren't..." Rainbow started before pointing to the table behind her. "Dashie! We would never! They're getting sparkling water, silly filly!" Pinkie gasped. "Sorry! Sorry! Just wanted to make sure." Dash said defensively. Pinkie Pie hopped over to the other table and dropped another bucket of ice towards the center of it. She began to hop away when she heard a voice call out to her. "Pinkie Pie! This is the sparkling water!" Dash exclaimed before laughing. Pinkie Pie quickly ran over to Spike's and Sweetie's table and snatched the glasses away from them, "Sorry guys, but you can't drink this." she said apologetically. She grabbed the rest of the bottle and ran it over to Rainbow Dash and Twilight, grabbed the bottle of sparkling water, and ran it over to Spike and Sweetie's table. As she was hopping back to the kitchen she chortled, "Nailed it!" before disappearing into the kitchen. The rest of the evening went off without a hitch, the food was wonderful, the atmosphere mesmerizing, and the after dinner show, which was provided by Fluttershy and some of her animal friends, was spectacular. The group was finally walking home after helping return Sugarcube Corner to its normal state. Rainbow Dash had her wing draped over Twilight, and Spike had his arm over Sweetie's shoulders. As they approached the tree library Spike and Sweetie turned around, "Where are you two going?" Twilight asked the two. "I was hoping to spend the night with Sweetie Belle." Spike said. Rainbow Dash opened her mouth to speak but was stopped by Twilight, "Yes. It's fine, but you two sleep in different rooms." she said to Spike. "Of course!" he exclaimed happily. As the two disappeared in the darkness, and Twilight opened the door to the library, Rainbow Dash turned towards her, "I thought you didn't want them spending the night together?" she asked. "I thought about what you said earlier, and realized that you were completely right. Spike doesn't need me as his mother or his sister all the time, and now he needed a friend," Twilight said as she entered the library, "besides, we still have much to do together." Twilight said in a seductive tone. "Oh r...really?" Rainbow asked in a slightly unsure tone. Her only answer was being levitated by Twilight's magic and carried to Twilight's bedroom. The entire way all Rainbow could think of in her excited state of mind was, 'Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh! This really is going to be the best day of our lifes!' ~Fin~
