> It's Morphin' Time > by Dat Dash > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Command Center, a high-tech facility out in the desert near the city of Angel Grove, California, could be described as the safest place in the world. No one could access it without being a legendary warrior called a Power Ranger, warriors that could morph into costumed heroes who, in a pinch, could summon giant robots called Zords, and combine them into an even bigger robot called the Megazord. There were currently six Power Rangers, and they were currently inside the Command Center. “Rangers,” said Zordon, an interdimensional being trapped in a time warp, who had chosen the Rangers to fight Rita Repulsa, an evil witch bent on conquering Earth, “Our sensors are picking up an interdimensional disturbance just outside the Command Center. I want you to--” Before he could get any further, however, what sounded and felt like a meteorite crash shook the Command Center, confusing all inside. “Ay-yi-yi-yi!!” exclaimed Alpha 5, Zordon’s robotic assistant, “What was that?” “Sounded like a meteorite impact,” said Billy Cranston, the Blue Triceratops Ranger and the most intelligent of the Rangers. “A what?” asked Zachary Taylor, the Black Mastodon Ranger and a talented breakdancer. “Space rock,” said Trini Kwan, the Yellow Sabertooth Tiger Ranger who had the knowledge to translate Billy’s technobabble. “Space rock?” asked Kimberly Ann Hart, the Pink Pterodactyl Ranger and an excellent gymnast, “Why hasn’t the Command Center been destroyed?” “Maybe it’s not a space rock,” suggested Tommy Oliver, the White Tiger Ranger and a martial artist. “That’s correct, Tommy,” said Zordon, “An object did indeed crash a mile south of here, or rather, six objects. And the strange thing is, we’re getting life signs from them.” “What are we waiting for, you guys?” asked Jason Lee Scott, the Red Tyrannosaurus Ranger and a martial artist like Tommy, “Let’s check it out!” “OK!” said the rest of the Rangers, and they left the Command Center, and headed south. “Shouldn’t be too far now,” said Billy after an hour. And Billy was right. In front of them was a crater the size of a pickup truck, but they never expected to find what they did inside. Six strange creatures, each one a different color, were lying unconscious inside the crater. Billy examined the creatures. “They appear to be equine in physiology,” he said, “yet there are also some humanoid features.” “Trini?” asked Jason. “What’s he saying?” “They look like horses, but they also look slightly human,” she responded. “Three of them have wings!” noticed Zack. “And two have horns!” observed Kimberly. “One even has both!” said Tommy. “But I didn’t know horses came in a variety of colors,” said Jason. “Nor did I know that they had symbols on their flanks,” said Kimberly. “They look hurt,” observed Billy, “We should get them back to the Command Center.” “Right!” said everyone else. And they headed back to the Command Center, each one carrying one of the creatures. Once inside, Zordon said, “Well, Rangers, what did you find?” Then he noticed the Rangers were carrying the creatures. The look on Zordon’s face was a shock to the Rangers. They had never seen Zordon look even slightly confused, let alone shocked. “These creatures…” said Zordon, “They are familiar to me, but I don’t know how. Alpha, pull up the database on creatures from other dimensions.” “Right away, Zordon,” said Alpha, as he worked the controls. He paused for a moment, then said, “Zordon, these creatures would appear to be… Equestrian.” “Equestrian?” asked Billy, for even he wasn’t as versed in other dimensions as Zordon and Alpha were, smart as he was. “They come from the land of Equestria, which lies in another dimension,” explained Zordon, “The ponies of Equestria have achieved a level of harmony and peace unparalleled throughout the multiverse. If they have been sent to our dimension, it must be for a reason.” “Alpha, can you revive them?” asked Jason. “Yes I can, as a matter of fact,” replied Alpha. “I’ll get started on it immediately!” And Alpha took the creatures to the sick bay. “Good,” said Zordon, “These ponies must be of some importance, if they have been sent to our reality.” Twilight Sparkle woke up in a place she didn’t recognize. It looked vaguely like a hospital room, but more advanced. “My inter-dimensional teleportation spell must have worked,” she said to herself. She got off the cot, and began walking down the hall. When she got to the end of the hall, she heard familiar voices talking to unfamiliar ones. “Now, ah know y’all are good people and all,” said Applejack, “but ah just don’t see ya as superheroes. Ya don’t look like superhero material.” “I know we may not look it, but we are!” said a male voice. “You’ve got to believe us!” “Oh, sure,” mocked Rainbow Dash, “and you also have magic belt buckles that can turn you into superheroes! And who is this ‘Zordon’ guy you keep talking about?” The moment Rainbow Dash said “Zordon,” Twilight was astonished. How could somepony like her possibly know about the wizard from another dimension who made the Elements of Harmony? Twilight opened the door, and saw that her friends were arguing with six humans, each dressed in a different color. “Twilight!” said Pinkie Pie, “You’re finally awake!” “You must be Twilight Sparkle,” said the human wearing white, “We’ve heard so much about you. Name’s Tommy. Tommy Oliver.” He held out his hand, and Twilight shook it. “I’m Jason,” said the human in red, whom Twilight also shook hands with. “Name’s Zack,” said the black-clad human, who gave Twilight a hoof-bump (or a fist-bump, as humans called it). “I am Billy,” said the human clothed in blue, who gave Twilight a somewhat weak handshake. “Pleasure to meet you.” “I’m Trini,” said the human wearing yellow, whose handshake was somewhat stronger than Billy’s, but weaker than Jason’s or Tommy’s. “And I’m Kimberly,” said the human dressed in pink, who gave a very weak handshake. “Pleasure to meet you all,” said Twilight. “Girls, I’m sure we all know why were here. Right?” “Um, not really,” said Fluttershy. “You didn’t really tell us, darling,” said Rarity. “Fine, then. I’ll explain. A thousand years ago, in Equestrian time, Equestria was ruled by a draconequus named Discord. Discord is our universe’s embodiment of chaos. His rule spread nothing but disorder throughout the land. Then, he was imprisoned in stone by two young alicorns, named Celestia and Luna, who would go on to rule Equestria. But a millenium later, he escaped his stone prison, and now he has fled to this universe. I believe he has taken refuge in a palace on your moon, which, if I am not mistaken, is inhabited by a vile being known as Zedd. Celestia, my mentor, has sent us to assist you in defeating their combined assault on Earth. Yes,” she added to the humans, “I know all about the Morphing Grid, Zords, and that sort of thing. I even know that you’re the Power Rangers of this world.” “Well, if they’re what you call ‘Power Rangers,’” said Rainbow Dash, “then why don’t they prove it?” “Fine, then,” said Tommy, “IT’S MORPHIN TIME!!” And they pulled out strange devices from their belts. “TIGERZORD!!” said Tommy. “MASTODON!!” said Zack. “PTERODACTYL!!” said Kimberly. “TRICERATOPS!!” said Billy. “SABERTOOTH TIGER!!” said Trini. “TYRANNOSAURUS!!” said Jason. What happened next astonished everypony but Twilight. The humans were now clad in color-coded helmets and suits, the same colors as their normal clothes, and the helmets resembled the animals they had named in the roll call. “So ya are superheroes,” said Applejack. “There is no time for debate, my little ponies,” said a voice from behind them. The voice came from a disembodied head floating in a tube filled with an unknown blue liquid. “Who are you?” demanded Rainbow Dash. “You…” said Twilight, not believing her eyes, “you must be… Zordon of Eltar!” “That is correct, Twilight,” he replied. “But who is he!?!” demanded Rainbow Dash, increasingly irritated by not knowing anything about this Zordon character. “He visited Equestria twelve hundred years ago,” Twilight explained, “and was the creator of the Elements of Harmony. I believe the technology and power behind the Elements are similar to that of the Rangers’ transformation devices, which are called Power Morphers.” “Correct again,” replied Zordon, “I was astonished at the levels of harmony your race had achieved, yet I knew that it would not last. So I created the Elements of Harmony using what I had learned about the Power Morphers. I designed them so that only those whose hearts are pure could wield them effectively.” “But what do ya have to do with these Rangers?” asked Applejack. “Simple. I am their mentor and guide,” Zordon said. “Well, now we know why we’re here,” said Rarity, “but what, other than Discord, are we up against?” “I am glad you asked,” said Zordon, “Lord Zedd is a being from another planet, who seeks to conquer the Earth. If his evil is combined with Discord’s power, it could spell disaster for the Earth.” “Well, everyone, what are we waiting for?” said Twilight, “Let’s go get ‘em!” “Right!” said the Rangers and the other ponies, and they dashed out of the Command Center. “May the Power protect you all,” said Zordon as they left. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inside Zedd’s palace on the moon, all was not well. Zedd was looking through his telescope, and was not at all pleased with what he saw. “What’s the matter, Zedd?” asked Discord, “Am I getting you down?” “It’s not you, you freak of nature!!” retorted Zedd. “It’s those darned Power Rangers!! They’ve found new allies!!” “Well, I’m sure they’re nothing we can’t handle,” Discord reassured Zedd as he approached Zedd’s telescope, but when he looked through it, he was shocked at what he saw. With the Power Rangers were six VERY familiar ponies. “Those party poopers,” spat Discord in disgust. “They always have to ruin my fun.” “Finster, send down some Putties to deal with the Rangers and their new friends,” commanded Zedd. “Yes, my lord,” said Finster, a scientist who worked for Zedd. The Putty-making machine was busy making Putties, which were sent down to the Rangers’ location. The Rangers and their pony partners had barely walked a few steps when Putties crash-landed in front of them. “Well,” said Applejack, “This is new.” “Aw, they’re nothing,” gloated Rainbow Dash, “Back home we had to deal with shapeshifters called Changelings, and they were a real pain in the flank.” “Guys, we don’t have time for chat!” said Jason, “We need to show these Putties who’s boss!” “Right!” said everyone else. And they fought. While the Rangers mopped the floor with the Putties, like they had time and time again, they were surprised to see that their pony friends had very little trouble knocking out their assailants. Even Fluttershy, who was normally not much of a fighter, was knocking the daylights out of the Putties. “Well, that takes care of that,” said Tommy, after all the Putties were knocked out, but before they could go any further, a flash appeared in front of them, as Discord materialized. “Well done, Rangers,” he mocked, clapping in feigned congratulations, “you managed to beat our Putties, but that was only a distraction, I’m afraid.” “What’s he talking about?” Trini asked, but at that moment, it began to rain, but this was no ordinary rain, this was… “Chocolate… milk?” said Zack, surprised. “Look up, you guys!” said Jason, pointing at the sky. It turned out the clouds were pink for some reason. “The clouds,” said Rainbow Dash, “They’re made of cotton candy!” “Look at the city!” said Kimberly, pointing towards the Angel Grove skyline, which was now completely unrecognizable. Entire buildings were floating in the sky, some upside down, while the sounds of traffic jams and rampant crime filled the air. Suddenly, Zedd appeared beside Discord. “Chaos is a wonderful, wonderful thing, isn’t it?” he said. “I’m not afraid of you!” Rainbow Dash proclaimed defiantly as she charged at Zedd, but before she could so much as bump into him, Discord hit her with a spell, causing her to turn grey. “Oh, no, not again,” groaned Twilight. “This place is lame,” said Rainbow Dash, clearly under Discord’s spell, “I’ll let you guys handle this, after all, it’s not my world! See you back in Equestria, suckers!” She laughed, and then Discord snapped his talons, causing Rainbow Dash to disappear, presumably back to Equestria. “Anypony else wanna go a few rounds?” asked Zedd. “Why, you insufferable little-” Rarity began, but Discord hit her with the spell as well, turning her grey. “MINE!!” she said, spotting a nearby boulder, clearly mistaking it for a gem of some sort. She sped toward it, and claimed it as her own. Pinkie Pie pulled out her party cannon, aimed it at Zedd, and was hit with Discord’s spell before she could fire. “I HATE THE POWER RANGERS!!” she raged, “I HATE ZORDON, I HATE ANGEL GROVE, I HATE THE EARTH, I, HATE, EVERYTHING!!” “Get ready for a good ol’ fashioned flank whippin’, ‘cause y’all are about to get one!” said Applejack, who pulled out a lasso, and was promptly hit with Discord’s spell. “Don’t worry, y’all, ah’m alright,” Applejack lied, as her mouth scrunched up and her eyes looked away. “Oh, that’s IT!!” Fluttershy said, “Nopony is mean to my friends and gets away with it!!” “Would you do the honors, Discord?” asked Zedd. “Sure, why not?” Discord replied, as he sent the spell Fluttershy’s way. As soon as she was hit with it, Fluttershy’s face became a sneering grin. “Power Rangers? HA! More like Power Losers!” she jeered. “You dweebs have fun trying to save your precious little planet, while I enjoy the chaos.” And she walked off towards Angel Grove. “And last, but certainly not least,” said Discord, as he sent the spell at Twilight. “NO!!” shouted Jason as he dove in front of Twilight to take the spell for her. “Hmm, I’ve never reversed the personality of a human before,” said Discord, “This is an interesting turn of events.” Jason un-morphed, revealing his now pale, greyish skin. “I’m getting outta this dump,” he said, “Have fun saving the world, losers!” And he ran off. Then Discord sent the spell at the Rangers individually, and they all succumbed to it except Tommy, who deflected the spell with his sword, Saba. The other Rangers unmorphed, and their skin was just like Jason’s, pale and greyish. They, too, ran away. “Well, all that’s left are the pony and the White Ranger!” said Zedd. “Discord, the pony first.” “With pleasure,” said Discord, and he sent the spell towards Twilight, who succumbed to it instantly. “Good luck, Tommy,” she said with a depressed sigh, “You’re gonna need it.” And she walked away, with her head hanging low. “Go ahead, Tommy,” said Discord, “Try and fight back!” Tommy threw Saba at Discord, who caught Saba and made it disappear. Then Zedd shot a spell at Tommy from his staff, causing Tommy to un-morph. “Face it, boy,” said Zedd, “you can’t win!” Tommy’s skin turned greyish and pale as he accepted defeat. “You’re right,” he said sadly. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back in Equestria, Princess Celestia sensed that Twilight and her friends were in trouble. “My student and her friends are in trouble,” she said, “I must find Twilight and make sure she’s okay.” Back at the Command Center, Alpha also noticed signs of trouble. “Ay-yi-yi-yi!” he said, “We can’t reach the Rangers! Something must be wrong!” “Find them in the viewing globe,” said Zordon. “I’m on it!” replied Alpha, and as he looked through the viewing globe, he saw that five of the Rangers were discarding their morphers, and Tommy had been defeated by Zedd and Discord, and was now wandering in the desert. Alpha reported his findings to Zordon. “Teleport Tommy back here,” he said, “We mustn’t let him lose hope.” Out in the desert, Twilight was wandering aimlessly. She knew that the battle was lost. Nothing could stop Discord now. Suddenly, her mentor materialized in front of her. “What are you doing here, Princess?” she sneered. “Come to preach about the magic of friendship? “My dearest Twilight,” Celestia responded, “you mustn’t give up. You’re the Earth’s only hope.” And she cast a memory restoration spell on her student. Twilight returned back to normal, and thanked her teacher. “You’ll need these,” said the princess as she gave Twilight the Elements of Harmony. She took them. “Alright,” Celestia said, “Now get out there and bring your friends to their senses.” “But, what about Rainbow Dash? She’s in Equestria right now…” “Correction,” Rainbow Dash said as she appeared next to Twilight, back to normal. “I was in Equestria. Lucky I ran into Luna, eh?” “Good luck, you two,” the princess said, “the fate of the Earth is in your hooves.” And she disappeared. “Well, Rainbow Dash,” said Twilight, “Let’s go find our friends.” Tommy materialized in the Command Center, confused at first, then angry at Zordon for teleporting him there. “What now, Zordon?” he said, “We’ve lost. The Earth’s finished.” “Tommy, the Discord entity has affected your mind,” replied Zordon, “Alpha, give him the memory recall serum.” Tommy felt a sharp pain in his arm as a needle was poked in his elbow pit. All of a sudden, his skin turned back to normal, and his confidence returned. “Here, Tommy,” said Zordon, as five memory recall serum syringes and five morphers materialized in Tommy’s hands. “Give these to your friends, and they will return to their normal state of mind.” “Yes, sir,” said Tommy as he left the Command Center. “Oh, one more thing,” said Zordon as Tommy left. Tommy paused and said, “What’s that?” “It’s good to have you back, Tommy.” “Thanks,” said Tommy. And he left the Command Center. > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Everything is going according to plan,” said Discord, reveling in his apparent triumph. “Nothing can stop us now!” said Zedd, equally confident in his seemingly victorious scheme. “You really think so, Zedd?” asked a voice behind them. “Well, think again!” They turned around, and were stunned to find their worst enemies standing before them, as if nothing had ever happened to them. “Alright, everyone,” said Tommy, “IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!!” “TIGERZORD!!” Tommy said. “MASTODON!!” said Zack. “PTERODACTYL!!” said Kimberly. “TRICERATOPS!!” said Billy. “SABERTOOTH TIGER!!” said Trini. “TYRANNOSAURUS!!” said Jason. “HONESTY!!” said Applejack. “KINDNESS!!” said Fluttershy. “LAUGHTER!!” said Pinkie Pie. “GENEROSITY!!” said Rarity. “LOYALTY!!” said Rainbow Dash. “MAGIC!!” said Twilight. The Rangers morphed, and the ponies donned their Elements. “We’re back, and ready to morph into action!!” said Jason. “Twelve, working together to fight evil!” said Tommy. “To stop Zedd and Discord!” said Zack. “And all their menacing schemes!!” said Billy. “From destroying the planet Earth!!” said Trini. “And ruling the multiverse with evil!!” said Kimberly. “So y’all best leave this planet!!” warned Applejack. “Or we’ll make you pay the price!!” threatened Pinkie Pie. “And don’t think we’ll go easy on you!!” taunted Rainbow Dash. “Because we fight for all that is good!!” proclaimed Rarity. “And we’re not backing down!!” said Fluttershy. “Now face the combined might of the Elements of Harmony and the Power Rangers!!” said Twilight. “Ooooh, I’m sooo scared,” mocked Discord. “Do not underestimate them, you fool!!” admonished Zedd, “Now is the time to prove our power!!” And Zedd struck the ground with his staff, causing him and Discord to grow to gigantic proportions. “You know what this means, guys!!” said Tommy. “Right!” said the rest of the Rangers. “WE NEED DINOZORD POWER NOW!!” said the Rangers in unison. “We don’t have a giant robot, do we?” Fluttershy asked Twilight. “No, but we do have the Elements!” Twilight responded. “And now is the time to use them!!” “Right!” said the rest of the ponies. As the Dinozords combined into the Megazord, the ponies activated their Elements and rose into the air. Discord charged toward the now complete Megazord, and was promptly sliced in half with the Megazord’s sword. “We took care of your nemesis,” said Tommy to the ponies, “Now finish off Zedd for us!!” “Right!” said Twilight. Zedd readied his staff for one final attack, but before he could cast a spell, a rainbow beam shot at him, and unbearable pain coursed through his body as he turned to stone. “We did it, guys!!” said Tommy, as the Rangers got out of the Megazord, and the ponies dropped as their Elements powered down. “Well,” said Twilight to Tommy, “it’s time for us to part ways. Good luck to you, your friends, Angel Grove, and the Earth.” “Same to you, your friends, and Equestria,” Tommy replied, and they gave a parting handshake. “Good luck with yer martial arts, Jason!” said Applejack. “Thanks!” Jason replied, “Good luck on the apple farm!” They shook hands in farewell. “Keep up the science stuff, Billy!” said Rainbow Dash. “Thank you,” he responded, “Best of luck on your endeavors in becoming a Wonderbolt.” They shook hands in farewell. “Hope your gymnastics goes well, Kim,” said Fluttershy. “Thanks,” said Kimberly, “Good luck with the animals.” They shook hands in farewell. “Best of luck on your breakdancing, Zachary,” said Rarity. “Thanks,” he replied, “Keep makin’ those dresses. It’s been real.” And they gave a parting fist-bump. “Pinkie Pie,” said Trini, “you make your friends so happy with your parties. Keep doing what you love, and don’t forget who you are.” “Okie-dokie-lokie, Trini!” Pinkie replied, “Don’t forget to smile!!” And they shook hands in farewell. The ponies gathered together, as Twilight cast her inter-dimensional teleportation spell. “Farewell, you Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers,” said Twilight, “We’ll never forget you.” And they disappeared. “Well, another job well done, guys,” said Tommy as he unmorphed, “Meet you at the juice bar!” “OK!” said the other Rangers as they unmorphed. And they went back to Angel Grove. THE END
