Twilight vs. Great Magic Barrier

Twilight ends up creating the Dark Souls universe unintentionally.

Princess Twilight Sparkle created her own pocket dimension so that she could test spells to their full extent without causing any havoc around Equestria. It started small and barren, but grew into an entire world, a world where darkness reigns and lives are short-lived, and the Undead are eternal, a place where souls may mend your ailing mind.

This is a one shot I thought up after watching "Great Magic Barrier" by OnlyAfro. A crossover with Dark Souls.

It was another day of intense magical studies for Princess Twilight Sparkle without a care in the world, as there hadn't been any conflict in Equestria for months. Just peace enough for everypony.

But today Twilight was reading about Advanced Destruction Spells, so that if the need arose she would be able to conquer any enemy that dared assault her beloved Equestria by using magics that none had ever dared to master before for fear of what damage it could unleash just from the sheer magnificence of it all.

Twilight was confident that if she studied the spells well enough, she would master a power unlike any other, and unlike those before her, Twilight as an Alicorn, had enough grace and power to actually control the spells.

---

It was growing late in the day, but Twilight had finally finished with her studies over the large texts that lay before her. Now it was time for experimentation!

She knew the perfect place to try out her new spells, and before leaving the library she left a note for Spike saying -

Dear Spike, i've finally finished studying Advanced Destruction Spells by Royal Sorcerer Magefire! I'm going to begin experimentation, and I won't be back until later tonight, don't worry about me. Just make sure you're in bed before I return and don't make a mess of the place! Love, Twilight

Twilight also had some miscellaneous items packed into her saddlebags, incase she ran into any trouble that couldn't be solved through magic.

She began charging her horn with a powerful spell, the spell in mind was a spell to open a rift into another world, infact it was a pocket dimension created by Twilight herself, where she could practice without interrupting the constant peace in Equestria.

Spike and the Princesses were the only ones other than Twilight who knew about it. She released the spell and in a flash a swirling vortex appeared.

Making some quick last checks before stepping through, seeing if she had everything she could possibly need in her saddlebags.
Everything seemed to be in order, then Twilight moved forward into the swirling sphere ahead of her, seemingly being sucked in, before the portal dissipated into nothingness.

Twilight appeared in a large open area of what seemed like a dark and mysterious forest, a moon that wasn't there before lingering high in the sky, providing enough light to see only the trees around her.

She started looking around in confusion. So far as she could remember, last time she was here only a few days ago, there were no signs of life, it seemed that her little pocket universe had expanded exponentially and she had created something living and breathing!

Before there was but flat rock with a few towering stone spires reaching above into nothingness now not only were the spires gone, but trees, grass, water, clouds, and an ever expanding sky filled with stars had appeared! Twilight lit her horn, turning around she spotted a staircase, at the top of the stairs was a fog-wall like gate blocking an entrance.

Instead of beginning on experimentations with her new spells as she had planned, her mind was overridden by her growing curiosity by this new land that lay before her and the thought that she had been the one to create it, it just left her feeling giddy. But she was still confused, and actually a little scared, as she had noticed that if there were trees, which denoted life, there could have been something watching her from the trees as well.

Twilight's thoughts were interrupted as she heard an odd siren noise echoing through her mind, she began to look around in fear. Her teeth chattering together, she looked behind her towards the odd fog-gate only to see a bipedal in what looked like armor, swathed in red, glowing in the dark.

"H-hello? W-who are you?" Twilight questioned fearfully before the odd being took notice of her, it took a small object from a pouch on it's side, kneeling down then raising it above it's head. A white light appearing above it and covering the creature in a force field of light that formed around it's body.

Then from it's back it removed an enormous looking mace from it's back holding it in one hand, seemingly having no trouble holding it up, it looked similar to an adult Dragon tooth it also removed an enormous stone shield from it's back.

The creature leapt down the staircase before slamming the ground with it's mace, causing a large dent in the ground, and Twilight to startle and leap back into a defensive stance, before moving a good distance from the being.

"Don't come any closer, I know magic and i'm not afraid to use it!" The creature began to advance towards her with a menacing stride.

"That's it, you asked for it!" Twilight's horn lit up bright as a star, hoping to scare the creature off, but it kept advancing towards her.
In desperation, Twilight fired a small beam at it's feet, it stopped for a second before continuing it's march towards her.

Twilight was practically begging for it to stop, she didn't want to cause any harm."Halt immediately or i'll be forced to do something I really don't want to!"

The creature responded by leaping towards her an making another indent in the ground, but not before Twilight had dashed to the side and began firing small violet bolts towards it, all of them dissipating as soon as they hit it's force-field, seeming to cause no damage what so ever. It swung it's enormous hammer in an arc towards her, clashing with a tree and ripping straight through.

Twilight was surprised, but thankfully the tree had slowed it's attack enough to allow Twilight to raise her own force-field, barely deflecting the blow, and causing Twilight to feel pain ripping through her horn in response to the blow which also completely shattered her force-field.

She staggered and fell to the ground, the creature raised it's mighty hammer above her and swung downwards, about to crush her, thinking quickly she teleported out of it's path and into the trees above.

Relatively safe for the time being, Twilight released a breath she didn't know she was holding, she was a little weak from that blow to her force-field, she opened her saddlebags hurriedly and pulled out a herb she had received from Zecora, told to boost stamina and vitality. Shoving it into her mouth before chewing and swallowing it, the herb worked quickly as it numbed the pain in her horn, also giving her an energy boost.

There was a crashing noise below her and the tree she was in started to tumble down to the ground, Twilight quickly spread her wings and leapt from the tree, almost smashing into the ground before pulling up, she was still new to this whole flying thing.

She realized that this thing wasn't going to stop at anything to kill her, so she couldn't show any mercy for it either.

She flew behind the creature and lit her horn up preparing one of her newly acquired spells, this time flames seemed to be rising from her horn, shining brightly, a storm of magical power forming at the tip, what she had learned from her recent studies would have to do, Twilight released the spell from her horn, culminating into an enormous ball of violet light with lightning sparking around it.

'Nothing should be able to withstand this!' The being below her raised it's shield, it's force-field of light still surrounding it's body and faced the ball of imminent doom.

Twilight came in for a landing as the ball of imminent doom was about to clash with the creatures shield, it smashed into it's shield, exploding in a shockwave of light and magical energy.

Leaving a crater in it's wake, Twilight stepped towards the crater cautiously and looked down, she gasped in surprise, seeing that the monstrous being was still alive. 'But that can't be, I put all of my power into that spell! Celestia help me!'

Twilight began to backpedal from the crater in fear, this unthinkably powerful being had deflected her blow with nary a scratch and was still marching towards her. Twilight almost tripped as she had her back to a cliff, she knew she was too exhausted to take flight, having little power left in her. She looked behind her and towards the cliff, it was a steep drop into a deep pool of water with nowhere to escape. An idea came to Twilight, an idea that might just save her, she looked back towards to monster, seeing it had come dangerously close and was still coming.

Twilight began to yell at it in a fearful tone "Don't come any closer, y-you monster! I'm warning you, one more step and it's over! I'll blast you into oblivion!"

Just as the monster came in for a swing, Twilight powered her horn, and teleported behind it before bucking the monster in the back with all her might, causing it to stagger closer towards the edge, which crumbled before the monsters feet from the damage inflicted by it's mace. Just then it realized it's mistake, but it was all too late as it tumbled towards the water below, who knew what creatures lay below?

At this point, Twilight didn't care, she was too tired and exhausted from fright at her near-death experience and just wanted to go home. Twilight pulled what seemed to be a plain white stone with a bluish swirl upon it. It was actually a stone enchanted just incase Twilight was a good distance from home and wished to return, luckily it even worked cross dimension, as Twilight knew from her last visit here, the stone was created with a powerful enchantment imbued within.

"Good thing, I brought this hearthstone with me." Twilight sighed before beginning the casting process which only required the inherent magic already enchanted into the stone.

It took all of ten seconds flat before she was transported back to her home dimension and into her home.

Even after all that had happened, Twilight knew that she would have to return someday, especially after realizing what she had created but knowing so little about it, her hunger for knowledge of the unknown would always win over her fears, she could never put this off for long.
