SEARCH FOR A CURE

By Grenazers

Inside the Golden Oak Library, a baby dragon slept peacefully in his little basket bed. Celestia's sun shine her light through the window and illuminated the entire room. Spike got up from his bed and gave a loud yawn. As he was scratching his back, his tired eyes noticed a certain lavender alicorn glaring right at him.

“Um Twilight, why are you staring at me?” He asked then noticing the messy mane and bags under her eyes. “Whoa, did you slept at all last night?”

“Spike take a look around you.” She said, her voice sounded angry.

The little purple dragon complied and took a look at his surrounds. His eyes widen upon seeing the state the library was in. Papers were scattered across the wooden floor, books were out of their shelves and lay scattered with the papers, and along with that are broken pieces of what used to be their furniture.

“Holy smoke, did a tornado hit here?” He questioned.

“Yeah, a tornado called Spike!” She answered.

“Wait the tornado has the same name as me?”

“Yes? I mean no Spike!” Twilight quickly corrected herself. “You did all this Spike.”

“I did this?” He said with a shock look on his face.

“You honestly don't remember?”

Spike responded by shrugging. Twilight then decide to inform her little assistance of what transpired last night.

Last Night

The lavender alicorn was sleeping on her bed, mumbling something about studying. Then all of a sudden she was abruptly woken up by the sound of a loud explosion. Twilight instantly jump up and looked around worryingly.

“Hahahahahahahaha!” Came a familiar maniacal laugh.

Twilight looked up and saw a violet mare, in a purple suit, and her long green mane.

“Mane-iac!” She yelled in surprise.

“Fools! Do you really think you can get rid of me that easily!” The villainous mocked.

Twilight was about to blast her away, but stopped when she heard another voice coming from behind her.

“Surrender now Mane-iac! We got you outnumbered!” Said a mare sounding voice.

Twilight turned her head around and saw six very colorful costume mares behind her.

“Power Ponies?”

The Mane-iac and the Power Ponies gave no indication of acknowledging the alicorn mare in the room. Instead they were only paying attention to each other.

“Ha! You may out number me, but that still doesn't mean you defeat me!” She finished her sentence by launching several of her tendril mane at them.

The Power Ponies evading the attacking by scattering. While missing them, the Mane-iac's mane did destroy Twilight desk.

“Hey!” Twilight said angrily, but the is still ignored by the costume ponies.

She then attempted to use her magic and stop them before they destroy the library. However, her magic has no affect on them. She tried several times, but to no avail. She watched helplessly as the Power Ponies and the Mane-iac wreck the place up.

---

“Whoa the Power Ponies!” He said excitingly. “Just like the dream I was having.”

“Dream?” Twilight ask, curious.

“Yeah, in my dream the Power Ponies and the Mane-iac were fighting and-”

“Interesting, while the Power Ponies and Mane-iac were here, I sense dark magic in them. Which then led me to the source, you.” She pointed her hoof at him.

“Wait, you can do that now?”

“Don't change the subject, Spike.” Twilight replied, she then trotted towards the baby dragon. “Spike, tell me what happened to the book.”

“What book?”

Twilight didn't answer, hoping Spike will remember what book she was referring to.

It took him a second realize what book she meant. “Oh right the Inspiration Manifestation.”

“Yes, Spike that book. Now tell me what you did with it.”

“Yeah, about that.” He said nervously. “I kinda...ate.....it.”

“YOU DID WHAT!” Twilight yelled, almost breaking little dragon's eardrums.

“Jeez not so loud.”

Twilight didn't hear his comment as she spend the next few minutes giving the baby dragon a lecture about eating mysterious magical books.

“I'm just baffled at why you would just eat a magical book!”

“Well hey Twilight, I had to get rid book or else Rarity would've taken it back. “ He argued. “Besides this only happened when I was dreaming, right.” He pointed. “As long as I don't dream, then we got nothing to worry about.”

“Spike it's not that simple. Who knows what kind of effects that book has done to you?”

“You worry too much Twilight.” He assured her. “Come one, lets get something to eat. “ Suddenly a small collection of food appeared in a flash.

“Um OK this is new.”

“Nothing to worry about, huh Spike?” She said sarcastically.

“OK this could be a problem.” He then turn a face the alicorn.. “So what are we going to do about it?”

“I am going to do something about it, you stay here and try not to imagine anything.” Twilight answered. She then turn around and headed towards the front door. Before she left, she instructed Owlowiscious to watch over Spike in her absence.

Twilight left the Golden Oak Library and made a beeline to the abandon castle in the Everfree forest. Figuring that since the Inspiration Manifestation came from there, there must be a book to help fix this mess.

---

“Nothing! Absolutely nothing!” Yelled the lavender alicorn, frustrated at not finding anything to solve Spike's unique problem. She scoured the entire castle's library, but have not found anything useful. Despite this, Twilight refuse to give up. Her little assistance was in need of help and she would do anything for him.

While taking out a couple of books, Twilight pressed a hidden switch, which then revealed a hidden door. This door had large lock on it, this did not stop the princess and cast a simple unlocking spell on it.

Opening the door, she came across a long dark hallway. At the end of this hallway, stood a podium with a book on it. Believing this to be the book that will help her, she trotted to it, but stopped.

Instinctively assuming that the hallway might have some traps, she decided to teleport herself there. But the second she started casting her spell, the traps immediately sprung. Shooting darts, swinging axes, falling rocks, spike panel, and flames were all used against the princess.

Twilight barely made it out alive. But, it was worth it, for she has reached the other side of the hallway.

Quickly grabbing it, she didn't have time to admire it before the whole room started to collapse. Immediately she dashed out of there, all the while going through the numerous traps again.

As soon as she left the room, the door closed behind her and the stone wall hid once again. Twilight panted heavily, her body covered in cuts, bruises, and burnt marks.

“Why the hay would the Princesses ever built these in their castle!”

“So let me get this straight, you want us to put all these stuff in your castle.” A large brown stallion pointed his hoof at a piece of scroll which contain a list of traps and hidden passage ways.

“That's correct. “ Replied a pink haired Celestia. “ As a princess, myself and Luna would be a mostly likely target for assassins. So to keep ourselves safe, I want you and your brothers to build these traps in specific parts of our castle.”

“But, princess won't your guards and servants accidentally stumble upon these traps?”

“Any pony who directly serve under us must quick on their hooves and ever vigilant.” A sky blue mane Luna answered. “Those traps will keep our staffs from slacking off and prepare them for any would be intruders.”

The stallion shrugged and went back to work, not bothering to questioned further. All he can say is that he feel sorry for the sap that will have to deal with all that trap.

Twilight levitated the book to her face. Seeing the lock on the book, she used her magic and unlocked it. Opening it up, Twilight saw the title of the book: Good for what ails you. Flipping through a couple of pages, the alicorn found cures for everything.

There is cure for broken bones, there is cure for diseases, heck there is even a cure for emotional things such as broken heart, ruined childhood, and even crushed dreams.

As interesting as it was, she needed find a specific cure for her little assistance. Flipping through the book some more, her eyes scanned every page.

She then stop halfway on a page. Reading it, Twilight finally found the cure she was looking for. Bookmarking the page, she flew out of the castle and went back to Ponyville.

When the small town came into view, the lavender alicorn could see that the entire place was in total chaos. A giant robot shape pony was fighting against a giant monster, a swarm of books with wings attacked the fleeing ponies, and houses with legs would move about being chased by their owners.

If she hadn't connected all this chaos to Spike, she would have assume that this was Discord's doing.

Bursting through the front door, Twilight looked around for the little dragon.

“SPIKE!” She called out for him. “SPIKE!SPIKE!”

“I'm up here!”

Looking up, Twilight saw Spike upstairs, where their beds are. She then flew up and landed right in front of him.

“Good news Spike, I found a book that can cure you.” She showed him the book.

“Well that's great Twilight.” He said as Twilight turned to the page she bookmarked. “But, I don't need anymore.”

The alicorn froze, slowly she lifted her head up and face the baby dragon. “What do mean you don't need it?” She said it quietly, but sounded like she was restraining her anger.

“Yeah, after you left I went to use the bathroom and well after that my magic stopped working. Guess all I needed was to flush the stuff out of my body, huh.”

His response did not sit well with Twilight, as her left eye twitch repeatedly. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!”

“Ouch, Twilight not so loud.”

Before she retort, she remembered about all the crazy stuff that was happening outside. “Wait a minute, if you're cured, then what is all that stuff outside?” She pointed to the window, just as a flying book flew by.

“Oh that, yeah apparently somepony somehow got imbued by the Inspiration Manifestation.” He answered nonchalantly.

Twilight took a deep breath and sigh. “Well looks like I got to fix this mess as well. “ She then turns around and headed out the door again. “And you're going to help this time!” She levitated Spike n her back and the both them left to save the town again.
