> One Shot Special - Pinkie and Chase > by SparkStone > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Date > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Twilight's POV- I was at Sugar Cube Corner relaxing with my friends. We were just having some time to hang out like we always do once in a while. Rainbow would be boasting while Applejack would complain. Rarity would talk about her business and Fluttershy would tell us everything about her animal friends. Then there was Pinkie who would talk about anything. And I mean anything. Like right now, she's talking about... "And then, just when I thought I ran out of candy, it turns out, I had some more in my mane!" She said, bursting into laughter. I honestly don't know what the heck she said, but that's just Pinkie Pie. We all laughed just because of that. She really knows how to make everypony smile. "Pinkie! You're so random!" Rainbow stated. It was a good time just being with each other, you know? After a while, Pinkie left with our cups to refill them. We waited for a while, and during the time Pinkie was making our smoothies, Chase entered the shop. "Chase!" Rainbow called out. He responded by looking at us and waving. Chase had been here for a month, and he fits in pretty well even though he's the only human here. He's very quiet, but not in a shy way. He often says everything too straightforward and never lies. I guess that would be a good thing if it weren't for his choice of words from time to time. "Have you seen Pinkie?" He asked. "Oh boy, what did she do this time?" Applejack asked. "Nothing that I know of." "Why do you need her?" Rarity asked. Before he could answer, Pinkie came out with our drinks. She brought them on a platter balancing it on top of her mane. "I'm back with the smoothies! Here you go- Whoa!" She yelled as she slipped on a cupcake which happened to be on the ground. She ended up tripping and dropping all the drinks onto Chase, splattering him with six different kinds of colorful drinks. Pinkie gasped as she looked at Chase and smiled sheepishly. "Whoops..." Rainbow laughed while Chase stood still, looking at Pinkie. After a while, he said, "There you are. I was looking for you." "He didn't notice the smoothies!?" All of us pointed out except for Pinkie. "Oh? What is it?" Pinkie asked while she stood back up. "Wanna go on a date?" All of us were beyond surprised at that point. Chase just asked out Pinkie Pie!? Especially on what just happened!? We looked at Pinkie who was just staring at Chase before saying, "Okay!" "Okay then. I'll pick you up later. You can decide where we'll go if you want." Chase informed her before leaving. "I still have stuff to do. See you soon." "Alright then! Bye!" Pinkie said, waving at him. We couldn't believe it. It was just beyond us on what just happened. It was like the saying, 'opposites attract'. But this!? It was just unreal. Pinkie just sat down with us as if nothing happened. We all stared at her before she innocently asked, "What?" "What do you mean 'what'? Chase just asked you out on a date!" Rainbow pointed out. "Not the way I expected anypony to ask another on a date I may add." Rarity added. "So? It's not a big deal." Pinkie chuckled. "Not a big deal!?" We all said in unison. "Pinkie! It's a very big deal! Chase just walks in here and asks you out! Don't you find that strange!?" I questioned. "Nope!" She answered again, innocently. I slapped my hoof onto my face in reaction to it. "Maybe he's trying to get back at you." Applejack suggested. "You know, for what you did just now." Pinkie gasped and said, "You really think so!?" Fluttershy however intervened. "But...Chase isn't really the one who...well, holds a grudge or pulls a prank on anypony." "True..." Rainbow said. "But why would he ask Pinkie out?" "Why wouldn't he ask me out?" Pinkie questioned somewhat annoyed. "Well, don't get me wrong, but you're a party loving pony, and he's...well, kinda as dull as a rock." "Sort of like her sister, Maud." Rarity whispered to me. "Well, I did come from a rock farm, so maybe that's what we have in common!" Pinkie declared. "Anyways..." Rarity began to change the subject. "Pinkie, I see you better get in a brand new attire for your date soon!" Pinkie gasped and said, "You're right! Rarity! Can you make me a dress for later?" "It would be my honor!" Rarity and Pinkie left while we just stared blankly at her, wondering if she is at all thinking strangely about any of this. -Rarity's POV- Pinkie and I were at my boutique to get her a new dress for later. I brought her an ensemble that looked sleek, bold, and thin. Something to match the personality of Chase that he would simply adore! A nice, slim red dress for Pinkie, matching Chase's red eyes quite nicely. "Um, Rarity? This is a bit tight." Pinkie stated. "Ah, let me just loosen it then..." Just now, a knocking on the door caught my attention. I quickly went over to the door to see who it was. "Wait! Rarity! You made it tighter!" Pinkie told me. "Oh! Uh, just a moment!" I told Pinkie as I opened the door. "Hello! How may I help you?" "It's me Rarity." Chase said in his usual bland voice. "I'm here for my order." "Oh! Chase! Of course, just come inside while I get everything." I went over to Pinkie and loosened her dress letting her breathe before getting the extra clothing Chase bought again. I looked back to see Chase looking at Pinkie's dress. "What do you think Chase?" Pinkie asked. "...Eh..." "Eh!? What is 'Eh' supposed to mean!?" I questioned the boy. "You know I don't care for clothing at all." Chase stated. "I only wear it to do you all a favor." Why the nerve of that boy! "Chase! If I weren't a lady, I would beat you like Applejack would if you insulted her apples!" "Okay." It's hard to get that boy angry, sad, or even to smile! He's like those things the fillies would read in fantasy novels! What were they called? Ah! Robots! Emotionless I say! "Can I have my order now?" "Fine! Just take it!" I huffed. "Thank you." He said while taking his order. "By the way Pinkie, I'll be waiting for you at Sugar Cube Corner after I finish putting these away." "Alright!" She nonchalantly answered. "Take care then." After that boy left, I felt relieved. "That boy is very rude." "Do you think I look nice?" Pinkie asked. I sighed saying, "Lovely dear, but we shouldn't waste this dress on Chase. Celestia knows how dull the boy is." "Okie dokie!" She replied, taking off the dress. "Be careful with that!" I told her. -3rd POV- Pinkie went back to Sugar Cube Corner and awaited Chase. She waited for him only for about ten minutes or so before he shows up. Chase was the same as he always was. Messy black hair with red highlights on the edges. Ruby eyes that strikes fears to children for no apparent reason, and his teeth always pointier if you look real close. He wore a red shirt with the word, "RED" written in black. He also had black pants and red sneakers. He was like any emo boy you could think of most would say. "You ready?" He asked. "Sure am!" Pinkie replied with a saddle bag with her. The two exited the bakery and started the date. Pinkie lead the way with haste of sugar in her system, bringing Chase to their destination extra quick. "So where are we going?" He asked. "Just hold on~!" Pinkie replied happily. No later, the two arrive at what seems to be a carnival. Chase looked at the lights and sights along with the noise to compliment the scenery. "A carnival?" Chase spoke. "Yeah! Isn't it exciting!?" Pinkie asked. "Yeah, it is." He replied casually. "Well then! What are we waiting for? Let's go!" With that, Pinkie brought Chase further inside, and immediately went to the attractions without hesitation. The first ride was a roller coaster. Pinkie was practically ecstatic while Chase still maintained a straight face. While getting on the ride, Pinkie was all shaky, sort of scared for the ride. "Aren't you scared Chase? I know I'm scared! What if we fall off when it starts?" "Then we'll probably die." Chase answered. That scared the ponies who were on the ride with them, already hesitating to go on as it is. "You're probably right Chase!" Pinkie responded. "It's a good thing these bars are here to keep us safe!" "Yeah, that's true." Everyone sighed, glad that death wasn't a thing on their shoulders. As the iron bars sets down on everyone keeping them in place, the ride starts and soon, the roller coaster goes up to the peak of the ramp. "Oh boy! Here we go!" Pinkie squealed. The roller coaster dashes down the ramp, riding along the rails that swerved left and right, up and down, and all around. Occasional loops caused all of them to scream except for Chase, who sat silent and calm throughout the entire ride, unlike Pinkie who was flailing about on how exciting the ride was. In the end of the ride, a camera shot a picture and was shown on the screen on the exiting path of the attraction. Pinkie practically wobbled out of the ride while Chase simply exited his seat. The two walked to the photo booth and viewed the picture. The photo consisted of both of them riding the downhill of the roller coaster, the most frightening part. Pinkie was shown smiling and closing her eyes as she flailed her hooves around while next to her, Chase seemed to be simply sitting on the ride as if nothing happened. "Wow! Look at me! I'm all scared!" Pinkie giggled before she looked at Chase. "You don't seem too surprised. Wasn't it scary Chase?" "Yes, it was scary." Chase replied without expression. just a straight face. "Yeah! It was! especially when it was all like, 'Whoosh!' and all those times it went super fast, I thought I was going to fall out! Luckily, those bars were there earlier, like I said too! But what would happen if they weren't there? Or wait, you already said it. We'd die. Ha! Good thing that isn't the case, huh?" "Yep." As the two wandered out further, Rainbow and Twilight were watching closely. "There they go." Twilight pointed out. "It's so weird. Why would Chase ask out Pinkie? He doesn't even look like he's having a good time." Rainbow stated. "Rainbow. That's how he's like everyday. You know Chase never laughs or smiles." "Except that one time when he first came. You know, how Pinkie kept badgering him all day?" "I remember. I thought he only smiled because he didn't want her to bother him anymore." "Yeah...we better follow them before we lose em." A while later, Pinkie brought Chase to the spinning tea cups. As they sat down in one together and waited for the ride, Applejack and Rarity were in another spying on them as well. "Well, I knew Pinkie would go to a place like this, but what would make Chase enter too? He's not usually into this sort of thing." Rarity deduced. "You're probably right. Chase doesn't look happy, and Pinkies just smiling like always. What made Chase ask her out?" Before they said anything, the ride began and the teacups went in a whirl. Applejack and Rarity were spinning out of control the same as everyone else. Pinkie was spinning along with the teacup, even at times almost falling out. Chase sat there as if nothing was happening. Whenever Pinkie fell out, Chase grabbed her tail and brought her to her seat, which never really helped because she kept on sliding off the seat and spinning again. Soon after the ride ended, Pinkie grasped Chase's hand and brought him out to find another ride while Applejack and Rarity were dizzily leaving the area. "Not our best idea...to watch in there..." Rarity stated. "Let's take a break before we go after them..." Applejack suggested. Pinkie and Chase went on all kinds of rides. When they rode on such attractions like water coasters or bumper cars, Pinkie would be having a great time while Chase simply sat down and watched Pinkie. Others like trampoline rooms or zero gravity chambers, Pinkie would be all over the place while Chase just stood there. Whenever ponies saw them, they wondered, "Are they really together? They're so...different." And not in the sense of species, but in the sense of personality. Chase, a quiet, calm, and probably emotionless boy with a excitable, party loving, and energetic pony. As different as night and day, the two received a lot of stares. Pinkie didn't notice while Chase simply ignored them, not really caring at all. They finally stopped and went to go eat. Chase sat down and got a table while Pinkie ordered the food. When she did, she brought a load of cotton candy, churros, caramel apples, popcorn, taffy, candy, and lots of soda. She placed them on the table, which actually broke it with the weight and the two finally had their first conversation on the date. "This was really fun!" Pinkie said with a smile. "Yes, it was delightful." Chase said in a, you guessed it, deadpan tone. Pinkie was eating while she talked. Certain ponies that were spying were grossed out by her appetite. "Oh Celestia, I think I'm gonna be sick." Twilight said nauseatingly. "Get a grip, will ya!? You're gonna get us caught!" Rainbow complained. "Oh dear, the way she...eats..." Rarity said trying to hold it down. "It's not a big deal." Applejack stated. "Huh? Who said that?" Fluttershy asked. The five of them looked at each other and said, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" They closed their mouths and looked at Pinkie and Chase to see if they noticed. Their attention didn't shift onto them, so they thought they were safe until... "Man! I don't think I can eat all this!" Pinkie stated. "Maybe the girls would like some." Chase suggested. "Oh yeah! I forgot they were following us!" "THEY KNEW!?" They all said in unison. Chase and Pinkie finally stared at them as they went out of the bushes. "Well then, would you like some?" Chase offered to the spies. "H-How'd you know we were here?" Twilight questioned. "I just did." Chase answered. "Me too!" Pinkie added. "So why were you following us?" "Alright! Enough is enough!" Rainbow said, finally ticked. "Chase! Why'd you ask out Pinkie?" "Because I wanted to." He answered. "We know that Chase." Applejack said bluntly. "But why? What makes you want to ask Pinkie out in a date?" "Are you saying no pony would go out on a date with me?" Pinkie accused her friends. "No darling, of course not!" Rarity stated. "We know that there would be stallions out there who would love you for who you are, we just don't expect Chase to like you because...well, you two are different!" "So it's because he's human?" Pinkie asked. "No Pinkie, we would never discriminate you two like that!" Twilight told her. "It's just that...you're different on how you talk and respond to others. You're very expressive with your emotions while Chase is...um...emotionless?" Fluttershy explained. "No offence." "It's alright." Chase assured her. "We just want to ask Chase mostly...well, what makes you like Pinkie this way?" Twilight finally asked. Chase only gave them a blank stare before turning to Pinkie. Both of them looked at each other and Chase simply said, "Because she makes me laugh." He leaned over to Pinkie and held both her hooves as he kissed Pinkie, surprising her to making her mane spike up. After the kiss, Pinkie and everyone else were surprised as Chase actually smiled. It was that day, the two were officially a couple. THE END
