> JUMP! > by OC Beats > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > JUMP! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sound of a heart monitor was the only thing that could be heard in the room. Twilight stood next to her brother's hospital bed with tears flowing down her face. She couldn't help but breakdown in tears at the sight of the broken stallion. She looked over to Pinkie Pie, who had on her typical Pinkie Pie Smile. This time, however, the smile was forced and she had a nervous and guilty look in her eyes. Twilight looked at the pink mare and gave her a stern look. Pinkie let her ears fall back, but still keeping her smile. Twilight walked over to her, still staring at her. "Twilight, I'm sorry. I just can't help but feel like this was my fault." Pinkie said sadly. "No, really?" Twilight said in a sarcastic voice. Shining Armor walked in circles on the big castle's roof. Ponies gathered out in the night to see what was happening. One of the ponies in the crowd was Shining's wife, Princess Cadance. The royal guards put a spotlight on him so they could see him. "Shining! Shining, get down from there!" Cadance yelled to her delirious husband. Twilight ran up to Cadance with Pinkie close behind. "Cadance,! I came as soon as I heard. What happened?" Twilight asked with worry filling her voice. "Well your idiot of a brother is thinking of jumping of the roof." "What! Why?" "I guess the stress finally got to him. I can't get him to come down, and he won't listen to me or the royal guards." "How long has he been up there?" asked Twilight. Cadance scratched the back of her head with a hoof. "I'm not too sure. I know it's been hours, but I haven't looked at the time. What time is it?" Pinkie then jumped in front of her with a large clock she seemingly pulled out of nowhere. "4 in the morning!" she said with a laugh. Twilight looked to her friend and cut her laughter short. "Pinkie, this is no laughing matter! He can really hurt himself." she said in an angry tone. Cadance then cut in. "He's been up there since midnight." She turned to Twilight again and an idea filled her mind. "I got it! Why don't you talk to him? He might listen to you." "What? Me? Look Cadance, I want to help but I don't think he will listen to me. I just might stress him out even more. Why don't you just send in some royal guards to get him?" "We already tried that. When they got close to him, he stepped closer to the edge screaming 'I'll do it! I'll end it all!' So we gave up on that idea." A royal guard ran up to Cadance and interrupted the conversation. He had been listening the whole time. "Well actually princess, he seems to be calming down. We could have Princess Twilight try." Twilight still wasn't sure, but she had no choice than to do it. "Alright, I guess I can try." She grabbed a megaphone and walked closer to the castle. She looked up and called to her brother. "Shining! Hey, Shining! It's me Twilight! Can we please talk?" He saw his sister standing on the ground and responded to her yells with a chair. "AH!" she yelled as the chair came crashing down on the ground, nearly hitting her. "What the heck Shining! He threw a chair at me!" "You go away Twilight! You won't change my mind!" Twilight sighed and looked to her friends. "Well, anypony else have any ideas?" she asked looking at both of them. Pinkie's ears shot up and she bounced in excitement. "Ooh, ooh, please pick me! Let me try it!" Twilight wasn't too sure. Pinkie can give good advise, but she wasn't the best at getting to the point. "I don't know Pinkie... This is a very difficult job." "Please Twilight. Give me a chance." She gave her a big smile and puppy eyes hoping Twilight would say yes. "I don't know. Can you handle this? This type of situation takes time and patience." Pinkie put on a royal guards hat and grabbed the megaphone. "Twilight, please. I got this. I can get him down. I used to do this before I worked at the cake shop." Both Twilight and Cadance both stared at her with wide eyes. "Really? Well, OK then. Please be careful." Twilight said, allowing her friend to walk forward. Pinkie put on a straight face and walked up to the edge of the castle. She yelled for him and he quickly responded. "Pinkie, go away! I'll jump! I'm going to do it!" Pinkie cleared her throat and took a deep breathe before answering. "You've been saying that for at least four hours now! Are you going to do it or not? I think you're too chicken to do it!" "Pinkie!" screamed Twilight. "Stop! What are you doing?" screamed Cadance. Pinkie ignored their yells and continued. "I think you are just all talk!" His face got red and he began to argue with her. "Am not!" "Are so!" "Am not!" "Then proof it you big baby!" He took another step forward and was now on the edge of the castle roof. Pinkie still kept her straight face and stared at him. He looked down and saw the crowd of ponies all watching him. Waiting and wondering what may happen. A bead of sweat fell down his face as he looked down. "See! You're too chicken!~" Pinkie screamed once more. "I'm not a chicken!" Shining screamed back. He took one final breathe and... The doctor walked in and stood in front of both Pinkie and Twilight. He had a clipboard in his magic and looked at his patient. He smiled and looked at the two mares again. "Well I have some good news and bad news." he said with no emotion, writing on the clipboard with a quill. "The bad news is that he will have to stay here for at least a month." Twilight felt her heart fall and crack. "What's the good news? Tell me the good news!" she said scared. The doctor cleared his throat and continued. "The good news is that he will do just fine." He chuckled and gave Twilight an encouraging smile. "Oh thank Celestia! Next time, please start with the good news." she said with a sigh. He laughed and then looked at the papers. "It says here that he jumped off the castle roof? Is this correct?" Twilight frowned and looked at Pinkie. "Yes. Pinkie was supposed to get him down safely, but she ended up making things worse." she said with anger in her words. Pinkie held up her hooves to testify. "Wait. I don't think you heard me earlier Twilight. I never said that." Twilight's anger turned to confusion. "What? You said you would get him down safely!" "I said I'd get him down! I never said safely. All you asked me to do was to get him down. I did my job Twilight. Remember when I said I used to do this? Well, there is a reason why I don't do it anymore. I never understood why I got fired from that job, but now I think I see why." She said smiling and scratching the back of her head. "Pinkie," said Twilight. "Yes." Pinkie said looking to her friend. "Remind me to file a restraining order against you for Shining later." Pinkie chuckled and bounced out of the room. "Okie dokie Twilight!" she said laughing. "It's the least I can do for him!"
