> Trying To Forget Past Mistakes > by SaiyanApprentice > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Fresh New Start > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a beautiful morning in the land of Equestria. The Sun was bright with clear sky's, the animals are out, and everything that made gorgeous day perfect. Coming down the tracks on a nearby rail line was a train heading for the town known as Ponyville. Everyone on this particular train are heading down to visit the nice little town for business or simply passing through to go on to another destination. But not for two ponies on this train ride. In one of the box cars, sitting on the one of the many seats was a unicorn stallion named Digital Grove who had a light lime green coat, a brown combed over mane, Blue eyes, and a hammer and saw cutie mark. Next to the Stallion is a Small six year old little unicorn filly named Sugar Cream who had a light grey coat, maroon colored mane, and blue eyes. She's doesn't have a cutie mark, but no matter how young she is or what anyone tells, she really wants one. Sugar Cream was squirming in her seat due to the long and tiring train ride the two had been on, Sugar couldn't wait to get off and stretch her legs "Daddy?" said Sugar looking up at her dad. Digital looked down at his daughter and happily replied, smiling at her. "Yes sweetie?" said Digital. "Are we their yet?" The small filly asked. "Not yet. But we should be arriving shortly" said Digital. "Don't worry I made sure we'll be on schedule". "Oh okay" said Sugar. "But do I have to go to school today?" "Of course you do silly filly" Digital chuckled scratching her head. "I already signed you up. Well, I have to sign a few more documents and consents, but other then that you're officially in". "But why do I have to go? What's the point?" Whined Sugar. "I miss pre-school, and our old home" Digital patted his daughters head. "I'm sure you do sweetie. But you have to understand that you need school to learn and for an education to do what you want when you grow up". Sugar Cream eyes lit up with joy. "To do what I want when I grow up!? Does that mean I'll get my cutie mark while in school?" The small filly asked with excitement and joy in her tone. Digital just chuckled. "Well if your cutie mark represents something you want to do when you're older involving teaching or science and inventing like yours truly" said Digital. "Then yeah I'm pretty sure you will" The small filly started to bounce up and down squealing with joy. "Oh now I can't wait for school, I'm too excited!" "I thought you didn't want to go to school" said Digital. "I did, but now that I know that I can get a cutie mark while in school makes it like one hundred gazillion times better" said the excited filly The stallion chuckled. "Alright take easy their sweetheart, we're getting close. But you have to understand, a cutie mark is what's makes a pony special and it's not just given out like free samples" said Digital putting his hoof around his daughter. "It's given when a pony finds out what makes them special or what they do they do best". "Oh...But I like to eat candy! Will I get a cutie mark for that?" the small filly asked. Digital chuckled. "You'll just have to be patient sweetheart, you'll get your Cutie mark when the time comes, trust me". Now Arriving in Pony. For those of you Getting off, Thank you for choosing southwest rail lines and have a nice day "Well speaking of being patient, we're here. Do you want me to help carry your bag?' Digital asked reaching for his back. Sugar Cream jumped down from her seat and started to tug at her bag under the seat. But it wouldn't budge not matter how hard she tired. "No its okay, I can do it" The filly continued to to tug but with no luck of it moving at the slightest. "Here I insist let me carry it" said Digital grabbing the bag and putting it over his back next to the other one he picked up. Sugar Cream looked up at her dad with puppy dog eyes. "But I want to carry something". Digital frowned and looked to see if their was something he could let his small daughter carry without her struggling. Finally Digital handed Sugar Cream her school saddle bag, "Here sweetheart you can carry you school bag" said said Digital handing her the bag. "You'll be needing it anyways" Sugar Cream frowned at it and looked back up. "But I already carry my school bag all the time, whats special about that". Digital chuckled. "Well theirs some of your luggage in their Sweetie, besides the one I'm carrying oh course" "Like what?" the small filly asked. "Well..." Digital paused for a minute trying to remember everything he had put in his daughter school bag prior before the move. "You're good luck bracelet charm is in their, new school supplies and I already have your lunch packed" said Digital. "Oh okay...that's cool I guess" said Sugar Cream with disappointment in her tone. Digital frowned and knelt down do his daughters level. "Look Sweetie its not that I don't want you to carry something, its just I don't want you to hurt yourself" said Digital. "It's okay I understand" said Sugar Cream. "But hey I know what will cheer you up" said Digital giving a devilish Grin. The filly looked back her father with curiosity. "What?' she asked. "Tickle Fight!!" said Digital quickly reaching out and tickling his daughters stomach. The small filly burst out with laughter and couldn't stop as Digital attacked his daughters stomach in all of her weak spots. "HAHAHAHAHA stop it!!!" cried Sugar Cream squirming. Digital didn't reply but only continued to make his daughter laugh uncontrollably. "Daddy HAHAHAHAHAHA stop HAHAHAHA please!" Laughed the small filly. Digital continued on and on until finally the the train arrived in Ponyville and the two got off. Digital pulled out a map looking for which way the school should be, he then put it away when he knew where to go to get to his destination. The two started to walk in the direction of the school house. "Alrighty kiddo, first stop is you're new school" said Digital. "I actually feel better about going to school now thanks to you" said Sugar. Digital smiled. "That's the spirit sweetheart, I'm sure you'll have a great time and make lots of new friends". "I hope I do" said Sugar. Two continued walking until they found themselves upon a red school house. Waiting by the front door of the school house was a Cerise coated and light grayish rose maned mare was looking at them waving. "Well hello their you two" said the Mare. Sugar Cream immediately hid behind her fathers legs as they walked up to greet the mare. She was normally shy when it came to meeting new grown ups. "Hello" said Digital greeting her. "Are you Cheerilee?" "Why yes I am, you must be Digital Groove" said the Mare. "And is that little Sugar Cream under you?" Digital looked down at his daughter, stepped back a bit and nudged her forward. "Go on Sweetie introduce yourself. There's nothing to be afraid of" Sugar Cream looked up at Cheerilee and shyly said. "Hi..." Cheerilee giggled and looked back up at Digital. "She looks and sounds like the sweetest little thing". "Believe me she is" said Digital. "But she can be a hoof full at times". Cheerilee smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. Now their's still a little paper work you need to fill out, but after that she's all set to go. Now who am I addressing? Her older brother I presume?" "Actually...I'm not her bother. She's my daughter" said Digital. Cheerilee's Eyes widened and she looked in him in shocked. "S-she's your daughter?". "Yes she is" said Digital. Cheerilee stared at the Stallion and studied him closely. He looked very young to be this filly's daughter. He even looked old enough to be her older brother. "I...Is there a problem?" "N-no of course their isn't" said Cheerilee. "But I must say you have a very beautiful little filly". "Thank you very much Ms.Cheerilee" said Digital. "If your alright with me calling you that" Cheerilee smiled at the stallion. "I'm perfectly fine with that. Now I'm going to need you to sign these documents and she's officially enrolled" she said as she handed him the documents and a quill. Digital used his magic and levitated the quill and papers. he began to read and sign each one with is name and signature. After about a minute, Digital signed the last part of the documents and handed them back to Cheerilee. "Here you go Cheerilee". "Great! now little Sugar Cream here is all set for the morning classes" said Cheerilee. "The class is going to start shortly so if you want I can show Sugar Cream around before class starts". "That would be wonderful. Sugar Cream what do you say to Miss Cheerilee?" said Digital. Sugar Cream shyly looked up at Cheerilee. "Thank you Miss Cheerilee" Cheerilee gave the filly a warm smile. "You very welcome dear" Digital knew that it was time for him to head out to his new home and to leave Sugar Cream at the school. Digital knelt so that was near eye level with his daughter. "Now Sugar Cream I have to go now. Will you promise to try your hardest and do your best today?" asked Digital. "I will" said Sugar. "Alright Sweetie and are you sure you'll be okay?" "Yes I'll be fine" said Sugar Cream. With that said Sugar Cream wrapped her hooves around Digital's neck giving her dad a hug and Digital returning it. The hug finally released and Sugar Cream headed inside with Cheerilee. But before Sugar Cream disappeared through the door, Digital called out to her "Sugar Cream!" Digital called out. The small filly turned back to see what her dad needed from her. "I love you" said Digital. Sugar Cream smiled. "I love you too Daddy" With that said the small filly turned back around and followed Cheerilee inside. "Make lots of friends!" Digital shouted out. Digital smiled, then turned around and started to head into town. "Now all I have to is drop these bags off at the new place where everything else should be and then ill head back into town, find some work, earn money and work on my next big project". Digital continued to ponder. "Though I do hope they moved everything including my tools properly. I wouldn't want anything broken, damaged, or worse, missing". Digital then used his magic and levitated the map out once again from the bags and looked it as he continued to walk. "I might as well look around town while I'm at it but where is th-" Digital was cut off by bumping into another pony making him and the other pony drop all of their stuff that was being carried as well as knocking each other over in the process. In confusion of what happened Digital looked up to see a white coated and indigo curled maned mare looking at him surround by beauty and cloth like products. The Mare then got a worried look on her face as she looked at him. "Oh my! I'm terrible sorry darling, I didn't see you there" said the mare. Digital quickly got up and walked over to helped the mare to her hooves. "No it wasn't you're fault. I wasn't looking where I was going, I had my eyes on something else other then the road. Plus I wasn't paying any attention" Digital admitted as he helped the mare up. The mare giggled and smiled. "Why thank you very much" the mare said. "No need to apologize it was my fault too. I also wasn't really paying any attention either, my mind must have been somewhere else". Digital chuckled. "It's alright miss no pony was hurt. But still sorry for bumping into you, Its just that...I've got a lot on my mind" said Digital The mare signed. "I can relate. I have a large number of orders I have to finish soon and I am already running behind as it is" said the Mare starting to pick up her things. Digital also started to pick up his own belongings as well as help her pick up her own. "I don't think we've been properly introduced". "Well bumping into to somepony is one way to meet another pony" Digital chuckled. The mare chuckled along with him. "Well anyway...I'm Rarity" "Rarity huh? hmm...Pretty name" said Digital. "Anyways I'm Digital Grove. I just moved here from out of town". "Really now?" said Rarity. "Well welcome to Ponyville Digital. When exactly did you get here?" "Actually I just arrived here today along with my little filly" said Digital. "She just started at the school down the road a ways". Rarity gave Digital an odd look. "Wait a second darling you have a daughter?" "Y-yes I do" said Digital. "why? is something wrong". "Oh no of course not" said Rarity. "It's just you look a little young to be a parent. Honestly you really don't an older then myself, not saying that to be rude of course. "Yeah I get that a lot, that I look a little young to be a parent" said Digital hanging his head down. "But It's not realy a subject I like to talk about with others". "I understand darling, that's your business and you can keep it to yourself" said Rarity. "But anyway's I better be getting back to my boutique before I end up biting off more then I can chew to finish those orders". Digital then looked up and started grabbing of Rarity's belongings that she hadn't yet picked up and put it on his back. "Here let me help you carry some of those, its the least I can do for making you drop everything on the ground" "Oh no no no I couldn't ask you to do that. You're already carrying so much" said Rarity. "It's alright I can get by, it's no big deal I can it's handle see." said Digital. Rarity smiled. "my my, you certainly are a gentlecolt Digital I really do appreciate it the help". Digital smiled back "Hey no sweat, I do aim to please" Digital suddenly lost his balance a little and almost fell over from the weight. "Oh my be careful darling" said Rarity. "Don't strain yourself". "I wont, Promise" said Digital. Rarity nodded and Digital followed Rarity as she lead them back to her boutique. > Getting to know everypony a little better > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sugar Cream was sitting down at one of the many desks in the classroom, surrounded by other ponies her age chatting with one another. To her they all seemed friendly but she felt a little nervous to talk to them, the last thing she wanted to do was make herself look like a fool. Cheerilee finally spoke up and got the classes attention, all eyes looked forward at the smiling mare. "Alright class settle down now, I have an announcement to make, there's somepony I'd like you to meet". Everypony looked around the room to see if they could identify somepony they haven't seen before, Sugar Cream slumped down in her seat and hoped no pony would notice her. "Now we have a new student today who has just moved from out of town, Please everyone give a warm welcome to our new student Sugar Cream" said Cheerliee. Cheerliee then looked directly at Sugar.  "Now Sugar Cream can you please come up an introduce yourself to the class" Sugar Cream looked up to see the rest of the class looking as her, waiting for her to walk to the front. Sugar didn't know if she felt ready to just jump into saying hello to everyone just yet but she knew she had to or she would blow it. Sugar Cream then looked down at he bag and remembered that her dad said that her good luck charm bracelet was in their. So Sugar Cream opened her bag, dug through it a little and then finally found the bracelet and pulled it out. It was a silver bracelet with hearts, clovers, stars and a locket with a picture inside it, Sugar has remembered having the bracelet for as long as she could remember. Digital had Given it to her when she was very little, For most Ponies the bracelet would seem useless and not valuable at all. But for the small filly it was one of her most prized possessions that she wouldn't to trade for anything in the world. "Umm Sugar Cream dear?" called Cheerliee. Sugar Cream snapped out of her thoughts and jerked her head up toward Cheerilee. "Aren't you going to come up an introduce yourself?" The class gave out a small giggle but Sugar Cream laughed with them and put the bracelet on. "Oh I'm sorry Ms.Cheerilee ill do that now" said the small filly getting out of her desk and making her way up to the front of the Class. As the small filly walked to the front of the class she could tell by now everypony was looking at her which didn't all bug her, what was bugging her however is what she should say. Was she to say where she was from or her name first? Sugar Cream finally made it to the front of the classroom next to Cheerilee, she took a deep breathe, turned around and began to speak. "H-hello my name is Sugar Cream, I'm six years old, and live with my daddy here in Ponyville now, I guess. I love candy, cupcakes, umm Swimming and uhhh" The filly paused for a second but then turned to her teacher. "do I have to say everything I like Ms.Cheerilee". Cheerilee giggled and patted Sugar cream on the back. "No sweetie you don't have to say everything you like if you don't want to, you can be seated now. "Alright thank you" said Sugar Cream as she walked back to her seat, and sat down "Now class today we will be learning about..." ... Meanwhile Digital was listening to Rarity going on and on talking about herself and about events that's happened in her life. Digital didn't mind though he enjoyed having a conversation with the mare, she seemed very nice and very generous for that matter. "And then I said to myself I simply must to get these orders done within the next day, but I didn't have supplies to make the specific material or enough for that matter" Rarity started. "Oh dang, that must have been a drag" Said Digital "Indeed darling, but from that day I learned to Always resupply before you do more orders for ponies that way you have what you need when you need it" said Rarity. "That sounds like an organized plan, I bet it works well for you and your clients" "It works wonders, but enough with me rambling on about myself, I want to know more about you" said Rarity. "Oh I'm nothing special just another stallion" said Digital. "Everypony is special darling, including you" said Rarity. "Alright" Digital chuckled. "You got me, go ahead" "Alright then, about your daughter Sugar, seems like such a precious filly from what you've told me" Rarity said. "You must be so proud. But that begs the question of who's the lucky mare in your life." Digital's smile faded, he then hung his head down and slightly looked away. "She's not in my life anymore, she's not dead. But its not something I really like to talk about Rarity gave a sad and apologetic look. "I-I'm so sorry to hear that I shouldn't have asked, I'm sure it must be hard for you." "No no it's fine you didn't know and your right it is hard. its a subject that I just don't want to talk about, with anypony really"" "I see." Rarity glanced towards Digital, the far off look he had, the almost pain stance he held while walking. She decided it was best to leave well enough alone and change the subject. "So, Digital, darling, what can you tell me about your cutie mark?" Digital expression changed in an instant and he gave Rarity wide smile. "I'm glad you asked. I do scientific research and inventing or just the inventing part you can say". "Oh really so you're really smart?" Said Rarity. "Well that's what everypony tells me or at least I assume they put it that way. I mean I'm not the brightest pony in Equestria, But I've been wanting to invent all kinds of stuff since I was a small colt" said Digital "How nice, I think I know somepony you'll get along with just fine" said Rarity chuckling. "have you invented anything yet?" "Well..." he started. "No not really, but I really want to badly. I have all these amazing ideas all the time but none of them ever work out" "Don't worry you'll get one of them down eventually, honestly darling it took some practice for me to get where I am today with fashion" "Yeah I see what you mean, I have all these ideas that I have yet to make that get me it's excited , new devices to be developed and discoveries to be made, oh man I tell you the whole thing just gets me pumped to work on something new!" Said Digital with excitement and enthusiasm Digital then looked back towards Rarity and started blushing, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Sorry I kinda got carried away there" Rarity giggled. "It's fine darling I know what that's like, sometimes my friends tell me I get carried away when I talk or even get in the subject of fashion". Digital chuckled. "Man I'm kind of a geeky pony aren't I?"  he said. "I'd say a geeky gentlecolt" said Rarity smiling. Digital just laughed as they finally came up to a white building. "Well here we are the Carousel Boutique" Rarity started. "and you managed to carry everything without struggling" Digital gave her a sheepish smile. "Honestly the weight of my bags and you're stuff has been getting to me for the past ten minutes, and I'm not sure how much longer my strength will hold out". Rarity chuckled. "You didn't have to carry everything dear, I could have carried a few things at least" said Rarity. "No it's fine, I did bump into you because my eyes weren't where they were supposed to be. But I'm glad to help out either way" said Digital. "Well I surely do appreciate it, but let's get you inside before you end up straining you back from all that weight" Rarity then Unlocked the door to the boutique, opened the door and motioned Digital inside. "After you" "Ladies first"Digital said back. Rarity started blushing and gave a small smile. "Thank you darling you're too kind" "Well It was how I was raised” said Digital Rarity smiled and walk in followed by Digital. The second the two got to the center of the room Digital carefully drop everything on the the floor. "Ahhhhh that feels so much better" Digital signed in relief. Rarity giggled. "Would you like some water, maybe lemonade or perhaps tea?" "Water would be great thank you" said Digital Rarity smiled at him and walked into the kitchen. Leaving him in the room Digital curiously looked around the room to see all sorts Mahicans with dresses and suites on them along with many sewing and fashion supplies as well. After a minute rarity finally came back with a cup of water and a glass of lemonade. "Sorry for  making you wait I couldn't decide between heating up tea or just have a glass of lemonade" said Rarity walking up to Digital. "Well I guess having lemonade for once wouldn't hurt, it's been a while. I'm usually used to tea". Digital used his magic and levitated the ice cold water in front of him. "Thanks" Digital then started to gulp down the water, to his own surprise he was more thirsty than he had thought and the feeling of the cold water pouring into his mouth and down his throat was refreshing thing he had felt all day. "Ahhhh thanks for the water Rarity. I guess I needed it more than I thought” "No problem at all darling, after all you did help me out as well as accompany me. Plus we ended up having nice conversation" said Rarity. Digital sheepishly rubbed his head. "Yeah it sure what, anyways it's been nice talking to you" Digital started. Digital then gulped down the rest of the water, put the cup aside and put his and sugar creams luggage back on his back. “Thanks for everything Rarity I've really enjoyed your company and all but I need to get going to my new home so I can get everything settled before sugar cream gets out of school, I'll see you later" said Digital heading for the door. "Wait!" Rarity called out at Digital. Digital stopped and looked back at Rarity with curiosity” "Digital I really have enjoyed spending time with you, it was quite interesting. Maybe we could get together again sometime" said Rarity. Digital smiled. "Yeah I'd like that" said Digital. "Well anywho I bid you good day my lady" Digital then bowed jokingly and head out the door Rarity giggled to herself. "My my he sure is a gentlecolt, Not to mention a fun colt to be around and talk to" Rarity said to herself. "Yes, indeed. Him and Twilight would get along just perfectly. ... Digital continued to walk down the the dirt road and pulled out his map. "Ok so now I just to find hoofingson street" said Digital. "Maybe I might need to ask somepony for directions, I know the map doesn't lie but I don't really know the area too well" Out of thin air Digital heard a voice from above . "Wow haha you sure are funny mister talking to yourself like that". Digital stopped in his tracks and looked up to see a Pegasus mare with a gray coat, light yellow mane, gradient eyes however they are unaligned with each other. “What are you doing?” The mare was staring at him from above his head and even though her talking out of the blue took him by surprise he thought he might as well ask for directions since she was here. "Well I was just trying to find my way around town" said Digital. "oooo that's sounds fun, my name is Derpy hooves by the way" said the mare. Digital smiled at her. “Oh well it's nice my name is Dig- "Pop quiz! I bet you can't guess what my favorite food is?" Before the stallion could even finish telling her his name. She just blurted out this random question that not only took him by surprise, but also confused him. How was he supposed to know what her favorite food was, he just met the mare. "Oh Uhhh...let's see” Digital "M-Muf" the mare said looking at him. giving him heavy hints to what the answer was. "Muffins? Maybe?" Digital "YES! You got it right, I Love muffins! I love love love love muffins, raisin muffins.." “You've got to be joking...This isn't happening” Digital thought. “Maybe if I try to get her attention I can maybe get some directions” “Uh Derpy” said Digital "Banana muffins, blueberry muffins! OH I love the blueberry a muffins those are one of my absolute favorites" "Derpy" said Digital a little louder. "Oh did I tell you how much I love muffins!" Said Derpy. "Derpy!" Said Digital raising his voice. Derpy immediately stopped dead in her tracks and looked at Digital. "Yes?" "As I was saying, my name is Digital Groove. I need help getting somewhere, can you tell Me how to get to hoofingson street from here?" Digital asked. The mare immediately perked up and gave him a big smile "Oh that's easy I'll show you the way. I know where everything is here in Ponyville" said Derpy. "That's great! Lead the way" said Digital motioning her forward. "Okay! Follow me" the mare said with excitement. Derpy then lead the way as Digital followed behind. To him she seemed a little odd, but he knew that she meant well and was only trying to be friendly and nice. So Digital continued to follow behind her as she lead him to his destination. ... Meanwhile it was recess time at the school and Sugar Cream was by herself looking for somepony to play with, she wanted to play with somepony but was to afraid to go up and ask just to get rejected. she knew she had to ask at least one pony. Sugar Cream looked all around the playground to find fillies and colts playing on everything from swing sets to teeter totters. But something caught Sugar Creams eye, there was a lone unicorn filly playing in the sandbox by herself. The filly had a light violet coat, a light gold mane and tail, and light gamborge eyes. Sugar Cream seemed interested in the filly, this was her opportunity to try and make a new friend. She took a deep breath and decided that this is the pony she should ask if she wanted to play together. Sugar Cream slowly started to approach the sandbox, a little shake in her steps and butterflies in her stomach but she kept herself as calm as she could the closer she got. She was inches away from the sandbox and started to talk. "H-hi" said Sugar. The filly in the sandbox looked over at Sugar Cream and smiled. "Hello there. do you want to make castles with me?" Sugar Cream was shocked. She's didn't even have to ask and the light violet filly already wants to play with her. This was probably the best thing that could happen to her today. Sugar Cream nodded and started to step into the sandbox. "Sure I'd love too" Sugar Cream then sat down next to the filly and watched as filly went back to work on her sand creation. "So you're new here in town?" the filly asked. "Yeah, I just moves here with my daddy" said Sugar. “That's cool, my name is Dinky Hooves and I live with my mommy" said the filly. "Awesome it's nice to meet you Dinky” said Sugar. "So what are you trying build” "I'm trying to build the most awesome sand castle EVER!" Exclaimed Dinky. "But I could use a little help." "Well, where should we start?" "I was thinking that we could start right about..." Just then they duo heard a bell ring. "Recess is over class come on back in" said Cheerilee. "Awwww but I wanted to build the ultimate sand castle" said Dinky. "Oh well Maybe we can finish it another time. we can talk some more if you'd like" said Sugar. "Yeah that would be great, I'd like that" said Dinky. So the two fillies then started making their way back inside the schoolhouse chatting along the way before they reached the classroom. ... Meanwhile Derpy was still leading Digital to hoofingson street. While they were walking to their destiny, a nice conversation had started between the two. "So you've just moved here with your daughter huh?" Said Derpy. "How old is she?" "Yep just today and she's 6 years of age" said Digital. "Oh that's cool I have a daughter myself named Dinky, she's about the same age as yours" said Derpy. "I'm pretty sure they might be in the same class but I don't know" "Well maybe they'll run into each other" chuckled Digital. “Maybe” Derpy chuckled. As the duo’s laughs subsided, they finally reached their destination. "Well here we are. Can you find your way from here?" She asked. "Yeah I can manage, thanks for all your help Derpy. I sure do appreciate it, see you around” said Digital heading down the street. "Um Digital..." Said Derpy. Digital turned and looked back at the mare. "Yes?" "Do you think we could hang out again sometime? It's not very common that I get to talk to other ponies like this” said Derpy. "Of course Derpy, I'd always be happy to"  said Digital. The mare smiled at him. “Thanks Dig, That really does means a lot to me. It's just Kinda hard going around when half of the time somepony makes fun of you when you're either trying to talk to them or trying to be helpful” Digital’s face softened. “Believe me, you're not alone. I've been down that road before". The mare once again smiled at him. “Well Dig, I’m really happy you're here in Ponyville now, I hope you really enjoy it here?" Said Derpy. "I hope so too, I feel this place has a lot of potential for me and sugar" said Digital. Derpy chuckled. "Anyways I have to go. Take care of yourself Dig" said Derpy waving as she flew off. Digital waved goodbye and turned toward the street. "Alright, now find address 2388" Digital started making his way down the street, looking at every address on the mailboxes until he finally found his. "Ah here it is" said Digital. He then pulled out a key in one of his bags and started heading toward the door to unlock it, but before he reached the door he heard a loud high pitched gasp. Digital immediately turned to see what had made the noise, but he only a pink pony with a curly dark pink mane running the other direction. "I'm sorry what?" Said Digital. “Nothing bad happened while I was looking the other way was there?” Digital was a little more than just confused at the moment on what the hay had just happened, but he shrugged it off figuring it must not have been directed at him and unlocked the door to his new home. He opened the door to find all of his furniture placed inside in the living room still wrapped in Saran Wrap. "Well it looks like I have a lot of work to do" Digital then carefully dropped his and Sugar Creams bags carefully on the ground next to the furniture. "I better look at the time while I'm at it" said Digital. “Not sure how long I've been out and about looking for this place” Digital then took a watch out of his bag and looked at it. "Let's see it's...1:00! Already!?" Exclaimed Digital. "Oh no I have to pick up Sugar Cream, I must have let the time fly when I was hanging around with Derpy and Rarity" Digital then rushed out the door and to the school. "Please don't be late! Please don't be late! Please don't be late!" Exclaimed Digital. > One Day Down, More to Come > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3: One day down, more to Come The school bell ranger and dozens of fillies and colts started trotting out of the door.  Sugar cream and Dinky were in the back of the crowd as they were walking out. The two were so caught up talking with each other that they really weren't in any rush to go anywhere. “Wow” said Dinky. “Usually schools so boring and long. But today’s different, I actually had fun” Sugar nodded in agreement. “I know, I never thought my first day would be this good. I thought things might actually go horribly wrong, guess I got lucky I suppose” Dinky chuckled. “Well, if it takes meeting a new pony to make my day at school better, than I wish you could have been here when school started” Sugar smiled at Dinky. “Well I'm here now ar-” “Hey look silver, the babies are getting out” Before Sugar could finish her sentence, a voice had spoken over her. Both Sugar and Dinky turned to see a two ponies coming toward the school. One was a pinky pony, with a light violet and white striped mane and a Tiara  on her head. The other was a gray pony with light blue glasses and pearls around her neck, with a lovely light gray mane. “Who are they?” Sugar asked. “That's Diamond Tiara and Silver spoon” said Dinky. “They're in the older pony classes, don't pay any attention to them. They do this when we get out sometimes” Sugar Cream turned back to the two older fillies heading their way, why were they being mean to her and her classmates. They didn't do anything wrong that she didn't know about did they? “Isn't a shame silver spoon, we have to be in the same classroom as these smelly diaper wear’s” said Diamond. “Sure is” silver retorted back. Sugar started to get upset, she wasn't a baby. She was a big pony and certainly didn't wear diapers, at least anymore. “It's a shame there can't there be a separate classrooms, one for daycare and the other for the big ponys” Diamond laughed. “We're not babies!!” Shouted a voice. The duo darted to where they heard the voice. They saw Sugar cream with an angry expression on her face with Dinky looking at her a little nervous that Sugar Cream had just called them out. “I'm a big pony!” shouted Sugar. “Sugar!? What do you think you're doing?” Dinky asked in disbelief. “I hate being called a baby” exclaimed Sugar. “I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!” Diamond formed a devious smirk on her face. “Is that so?” The pink pony motioned the gray pony toward Sugar and they both started to make their way over to Sugar Cream, who was still looking at them with anger in her eyes. The two older fillies were now face to face with Sugar and they decided it was best to have a little fun with the younger filly. “So, you think you're a big pony huh?” The pink pony asked. Sugar huffed. “I know I'm a big pony, you big meanie” The two older fillies started laughing histaricly. Which left Sugar cream a little confused on why they were laughing. “Oh no Silver, she just called me a meanie, whatever shall I do?” Diamond said in the most sarcastic way she could. Dinky in her mind knew this could get out of hoof if this went on any longer, so she decided to try and put an end to it. “Look Diamond, she's new here and she doesn't really know much here in Ponyville” Dinky started. “You think you can let this slide just for this once?” Diamond Tiara gave Dinky a nasty stare. “I wasn't talking to you, twerp” Dinky made a nervous squeak and backed up a little. She then turned her attention back to Sugar Cream. “Look here baby I th-” “My names not Baby, it's Sugar Cream!” Sugar exclaimed. “Right….Sugar” Diamond. “I get that you're new around here, but here's the thing. I wouldn't advise talking back to me like that, you see this sch-” Sugar Cream then stuck her tongue out and buzzed it at the older filly. “Pzzzzztt” Diamond was taken back by this action and only to display an expression of disgust at the younger filly. “Wha? Hey I was t-” The younger filly once again buzzed her at Diamond Tiara. “Pzzzzzzttt” Dinky started to giggle at Sugar Creams remarks towards the older filly. Seeing her get uptight was quite a sight to see. Diamond Tiara was now getting more annoyed and frustrated with the younger filly. She would not be made a fool of by some baby. “Would yo-” “Pzzzzzttt” “Woul-” “Pzzzzztt” “Yo-” “Pzzzztt” “STOP DOING THAT!!” “Pzzztt Pzzt Pzzz Pzzz PZZZZZTTT” At this point, even Silver spoon was trying her hardest not to laugh at how frustrated Diamond was getting with the small filly’s behavior. But Dinky couldn't control herself and continued to laugh at her new friends remarks. You could practically see the angry in Diamond Tiara’s eyes. She had gotten sick and tired of this filly. It couldn't have possibly gotten any worse. But it was short lived and Diamond could hear  the sounds of giggling from behind her. Diamond jerk her head up at the sound of it and turned around to see 3 ponies the same age as her laughing at her. The one with a very light yellow coat and light red mane, another was a an orange Pegasus with a cerise messy mane, and the last one with a very light gray almost white coat and light curly mulberry mane with light grayish rose streaks. The three girls couldn't help but enjoy what they were seeing, and this didn't make Diamonds mood any better. “Wow Diamond, you're sure letting that small filly get to you” said Orange pegasus. “Maybe you ought uh think this through, ah think she might uh just met her match girls” chuckled The Yellowpony. Diamond Tiara turned back the small filly, it was one thing to get mocked by a little kid, but to also be mocked by other ponies her age that she truly despised didn't make the situation any better for her. If she wasn't mad before, this defiantly did the trick. “Now you listen here you littl-” “Pzzzztt” Diamond had had it, she eye to eye with the small filly, and gave her the most deadly stare she could. “I have had enough of your mocking and disrespect!” She yelled. “If you don't stop making absurd mouth gestures or even think about giving one more gesture to me, I'm going to-” Sugar Cream tilted her head in confusion “What does absurd mean?” Before Diamond could even say anything back or express any sort of rage to the small filly. The three older fillies that were sitting on the sidelines suddenly ran up to Diamond Tiara. “Whoa whoa whoa their Diamond” said white filly. “You need to calm down” “Yeah, you wouldn't want Miss Cheerilee to hear that you're trying to pick on some of her younger students now would you?” Said the orange filly. Diamond Tiara huffed at the comment the orange filly hade made. “Fine blank flank, I'll leave the baby alone” Diamond then turned back to Sugar. “And as for you, don't think this over between us. Let's go Silver Spoon” With that said Diamond Tiara started trotting forward toward the schoolhouse, Silver spoon following behind her. Once the girls were inside the three fillies that had stepped in, signed in relief. “Wow she's got some nerve for picking on ponies younger than her” said the orange pony. “Ah know, you’d think she'd at least show some sympathy” said the yellow pony. “She probably picks on the elderly too for all we know” said the white pony. The trio then focused their attention on Dinky and Sugar Cream. “You guys okay?” “Yeah we’re fine” said Dinky. “I'm fine” said Sugar. “Can't believe she called me a baby” “Well to be fair you kinda a-OW!” The yellow pony had giving the orange filly a hard nudge to the ribs and gave the filly a sheepish smile. “ANYway’s we’re glad you two are okay, but ah don't believe we’ve seen you aroun’ before”  said the Yellow Pony pointing at Sugar Cream. “She's new here” Dinky said. “She just moved here today” “Heeeyyy, I was gonna say that” said Sugar in a whiny tone. The yellow pony chuckled. “Well, Ah don't think we've been properly introduced. Ah’m Applebloom” “I'm Sweetie Belle” said the white pony perking up giving Sugar a big smile. “And I'm Scootaloo” said the orange Pony. Sugar gave them a light smile. “I'm Sugar Cream, it's nice to meet you. Thanks for helping me I guess” “No problem” said Applebloom. “We can't stand Diamond Tiara just as much if not more than you do. So why not help a fellow pony out” Sugar chuckled. “Yeah I don't really like her” “Dinky!” A female voice called out. Dinky looked up and see her mother Derpy trotting over to the small group. “Mommy!” said Dinky rushing up to her mom and giving her a hug. Derpy hugged her daughter back and then separated. “Did you have a good day today?” Th filly nodded. “Yeah and I even met somepony new” The filly then turned back to Sugar Cream. “Sugar Cream this is my mother, Derpy” “H-hi” said a little nervous trying to hid her face. She was more comfortable meeting new ponies her age than adults, she didn't know why but she was always she when meeting new adults. Derpy smiled. “It's nice to meet you Sugar” Derpy then paused for second, didn't she hear that name earlier. “Wait, you wouldn't happen to be Di-” “Hey who the heck is that?” Said Scootaloo point down the road a ways. “Sugar Cream!” The voice called out. Everypony turned down the road to see Digital Running their way at full force and then started skidding to a grinding halt in front of his daughter. “Did I *paint* make it time” said Digital trying to catch his breath. “Daddy!” said Sugar Cream perking up and giving her fathers leg a big hug. Digital smiled in response to his daughters in embrace. “I guess I did” He then turned to Derpy. “Hey Derpy, how did you get here before me? I thought you had something to do” Derpy chuckled. “Well I did, I had to pick up Dinky here from school you silly goose. I thought you know too considering Sugar comes here too” Digital a started blushing while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. “I'm still trying to get into the hang of things around here” Digital then focused on the trio of fillies that looked a little Older than his daughter. “Oh and who are you three?” Sugar Cream let go of her dad and looked back the the trio of girls. “Oh that's, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. They helped me out a few minutes ago” “Oh really now” he said smiling at the trio. “Sure did! Girls, this is my daddy” said Sugar Cream introducing him. “Hi, I'm Digital Groove” he said waving at them. The trio looked at eachother in confusion and then back to Sugar cream. “That's your dad?” They said simultaneously. “Ah coulda sworn he was your brother” said Applebloom. “Um girls” said Derpy intervening. “I'm not sure that's the most appropriate question to ask him” “No no it's alright Derpy” said Digital. “No harm done” Digital then took a closer looked at one of the trio In particular, something about that white filly seemed strangely familiar . “Hey ummm Sweetie Belle right?” “Yeah?” The white unicorn said back. “Forgive me if I'm wrong but, you kinda resemble somepony I ran into earlier today” Digital started. Sweetie Belle raised an eyebrow at him. “Are you referring to my big sister?” “Is your sister's name Rarity” he asked. “Yes it is” said Sweetie Belle. “Then yes I ran into your sister today” said Digital. Sweetie Belle smiled at the stallion. “Oh that's cool, she's kinda weird huh?” The stallion chuckled. “No I wouldn't call her weird, I'd say….creative” The trio giggled. “Well I think it's about time we get going”. said Sweetie. They then started to walk towards the school house. “It was nice meetin ya Sugar Cream, Mr.Digital. But our class is going to start here soon so we need ta get goin” said Applebloom. Digital smiled. “Alright girls, have fun” The trio waved back at him and disappeared in the building. “Those girls seem nice” said Derpy. “I don't know much about them but I've seen them around town from time to time” Digital looked down at Sugar and smiled. “You see sweetie, making new friends already” Sugar Cream gave a sheepish smile to her father. There was a small silence between the four before Derpy spoke up. “Oh Dig, I don't think I've introduced my daughter to you” she then looked down at Dinky. “Dinky this is Digital, he's a new friend of mine here in Ponyville” said Derpy. “It's nice to meet you Mister.” Said the small filly looking up at him. “It's nice to meet you too Sweetheart, you know it's because of your mom here that I managed to find me and Sugars new home” said Digital. “Really? That's so cool” said Dinky. “Say Sugar where's your mom?” “Dinky!” Scolded Derpy. There was a long silence between both Digital and Sugar Cream. Dinky hadn't known what she said wrong, she just wanted to meet her new friends mom just like her dad. Maybe she said it in a way that sounded rude. “I….I don't have a mommy” said Sugar Cream. Dinky finally knew what she had said wrong, she had no idea that Sugar Cream was motherless. But how could she know, nopony warned her. She then thought it best to apologize while she still had a chance. “Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know” said Dinky. “I-it's okay, don't worry about it sweetheart” said Digital. Before the conversation could go any further, Derpy spoke up. “HEY, why don't we go to the park. I'm sure you girls would want to hang out a little more while they day's still young” The two fillies perked up with huge smiles. “The park!” They said in unison. “Yeah, we can finally build that ultimate sand castle Sugar” said Dinky. “Oh yeah” Sugar started. “Well what are we waiting for? Lead the way” With that said the two fillies took off, Dinky going ahead and Sugar following right behind her. “Slow down girls, make sure that we can still see you” said Digital calling out to them as him and Derpy followed. Now that it was just Digital and Derpy by themselves, while their daughters we up ahead eager to get the park. Derpy thought this would be the best time to apologize for Dinkys outburst. “Look Dig, I'm sorry about what Dinky said. I didn't think she would bring that up all of a sudden” Derpy started. “No...it's okay Derpy, she's just a foal. She didn't know” said Digital. “But” Digital started before his smile faded and look of grim appeared on his face. “I hate how she has to say that to others….how she doesn't have a mother, or she's never met her mother” Derpy looked over at Digital. “I know how you feel Digital. It's hard being a single parent, but hey look at us. We doing pretty good for ourselves aren't we?” Digital looked back at Derpy and smiled at her. At least she was trying to make him feel better. “Yeah, I'd say we are doing pretty good. All I care about is Suger's happiness, nothing else is more important to me then that” Derpy chuckled. “Well what parent wouldn't care about their child's happiness Dig, let me assure to you that I think your a great parent from what I've seen. You couldn't be doing any better of job then what you're already doing” Digital smiled at the mare and then looked ahead forward the two smaller fillies as they laughed and scurried around each other. Meanwhile Diamond Tiara was standing behind the schoolhouse door with a look of shock on her face. She had wanted to go back to say a couple choice words to the filly before her class started, even though it probably wouldn't have done much or she’d even have to deal with somepony else. But she couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to put her one last input in after that humiliating scenery of her being made of a fool of. once she saw the two adults, She thought she'd stay back and listen, as much to her surprise. She was glad that she did. Other wise she probably would have be scolded or worse “So That little baby doesn't have a mother!” said Diamond. It took her for a second to process everything. This may have been the opportunity, the chance she needed. A smirk formed on her face as she realized this was only the beginning. “Interesting” She then trotted back inside the schoolhouse and prepared for the school day ahead. …. It was now near close to sunset at the park, the two younger fillies were exhausted from the playing they had done. Digital and Derpy had watched and chatted while their daughters were having fun, But they day was nearing its end and it was time to head home. “Dinky it's time to go!” Derpy called out. “You too Sugar Cream, we gotta go!” Digital called. Dinky over heard her mother calling her from a distance and frowned. “Aw man I'm Never going to make that ultimate sand castle” Sugar smiled. “Well maybe we can spend our whole time on it tomorrow at recess” Dinky smiled back. “Yeah true, coming mom!” Dinky and Sugar then trotted back to their parents with exhausted yet satisfied looks on their face. “Well I think it's about time we head back home” said Derpy. “I think we should ease our way back too, except I'm kinda getting a little hungry and I don't exactly have my fridge set up yet, nor do I have food in it.” said Digital. “So I guess we’re eating out. Sugar is there anything in particular you want for Dinner?” The filly immediately perked up and looked at her dad with puppy dog eyes. “Pizza!” She exclaimed. Digital chuckled. “Alright alright, pizza it is. Now that you mention it pizza does sound pretty good” Digital then turned to Derpy. “Hey you wouldn't know where we can find a pizza place here would you?” The mare nodded. “There’s one by nearby your house, but a couple of blocks down the road from maple, which is the street before you get to Hoofingson.” Digital laughed. “I'm pretty sure I can remember that” Dinky gave Digital a goofy smile “Well you two have fun, me and Dinky need to go home and have dinner too” “Awww but I wanted pizza too” Dinky pouted. Everyone chuckled, gave their goodbyes and then went their separate ways “See you tomorrow Dinky” said Sugar waving her friend goodbye. Dinky smiled and waved back. “Bye Sugar!” … Digital and Sugar Cream; now on Digitals back, walked through the entrance of the Pizza parlor’s doors. The small filly has become pretty exhausted and usually liked riding her dad's back when she could. The pizza place however, didn't seem too busy, but there were some ponies in their. The atmosphere kinda reminded Digital of a diner he went to as a colt, it looked like one too. After a minute of waiting a pegasus filly with curly orange mane and light gray coat, came up to the duo with a big smile on her face. “Hello there!” said the mare. “Will you two be dining in?” Digital nodded. “Yes” “Would you like a booth or would you prefer a table?” She asked. “Booth would be nice, thank you” Digital said back. The mare then picked up a menu and a foals menu and started to walk off. “Right this way you two” Digital followed her in response, and the mare lead them to a table that had a good view of outside the restaurant as well as the sunset. “Is this one alright?” She asked. “Yes, it is. Thank you” said Digital. Sugar Cream; a little drowsy but still had Energy, Jumped off her father's back and onto the opposite end of the booth. Facing her dad. The waitress gave a warm smile at the filly. “Well now aren't you just a precious little thing” she started. “How old is she?” she said turning to Digital. “She's six” said Digital. The waitress gave a happy response and turned to Sugar. “Wow aren't you a getting to be a big pony” She then turned back to Digital. Sugar Creams gave the waitress a sheepish smile in response. She did like when others referred her as being a bigger pony then she actually was. The waitress then turned back to Digital. “You must be so proud”   Digitals expression softened as he looked at the waitress. “Everydays a miracle” he said. The waitress smiled, the. pulled out a pen and notepad. “So what would you two like to drink?” “Is water okay sweetie?” Digital asked Sugar. Sugar Cream nodded in response. “We'll both go with water” said Digital. The mare starting writing on the notepad and then turned back to Digital. “And are you Guys ready order or do you need a minute to look?” “You just want a cheese pizza Sugar?” asked Digital. Sugar Cream gave her father a huge smiled. “Yeah cheese!” She exclaimed. Digital chuckled and handed the menus to the waitress. “I think we’ll just share a large cheese” The mare smiled at the two, wrote on the notepad, and took the menu from Digital. “Alright you two, I'll make sure that gets to you two” she started. “By the way my name is feather breeze, so if you two need anything else just let me know” “Alright thank you very much” Digital said. The smiled back and walked off toward the kitchen. Digital then turned to Sugar Cream who seemed to be looking out the window, since they were finally by themselves. He figured it would be best to ask about her day and what she thinks of her new home. “So Sugar?” Digital started. “How was your first day at school, or perhaps even here in ponyville” The small filly turned to her dad and smiled. “Oh it was good, school was fun. I got to meet Dinky and Miss Cheerilee was super nice” Digital smiled. “Well that's great to hear, as for me. I had quite the day too, I was trying to find our new house most of the time but kept Running into ponies who turned out to be really nice, Derpy included” “Yeah” Sugar started. “I really like it here” Digital chuckled. “Anything you don't  like?” He asked. Sugar Cream pondered for a second. “Well…” She started. “Before you came and got me, some older filles started calling me and Dinky babies, and other mean stuff, but those other 3 fillies you met helped me out and took care of it by making her leave” Digital frowned at her. Was she really getting tormented by other students on her first day? And older ones for that matter. “You were being picked on?” Sugar shook her head. “Well not really, I don't think. But I stood my ground against her,and that's when Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo stepped in” Digital signed. “Well if these girls that started tormenting you ever cause any future problems for you, don't be afraid to tell me okay?” The filly smiled and nodded in response. “Okay Daddy” The thought still bugged Digital, he didn't want his daughter to be picked on. He himself knew first hand how mean kids could be to each other, he could only hope that this would be a one time thing only and occur again. But if it so happened to, maybe those nice 3 fillies could help her out again or even Dinky. Digitals thoughts were interrupted when the waitress returned carrying two glasses of water with straws in them on a tray. “Here you two go” said said setting the tray down on the table and giving them each their water. “Thank you” said Sugar. The waitress gave Sugar Cream a warm smile. “You're most certainly welcome Sweetie” She then turned to Digital. “Anything else for you two?” Digital shook his head. “I think we're fine for the time being” The waitress nodded. “Alrighty, well your pizzas just about done. I'll Be sure to bring when it's ready” “Alright thank you” Digital said. The waitress left with a smile on her face, Digital then turned back to Sugar Cream who was now focusing on her water. All this thinking he had been doing had made him think back to when Sugar Cream was brought into his life, had it already been 6 years? But the more the thought of that, the more bad memories came into his head regardless of how much he tried to push it away. It didn't have to be like this. “Daddy?” Again Digital looked up at his daughter snapping out of his own thoughts once again. “Are you okay?” she asked. Digital smiled. “Of course I am sweetie. Why'd you ask” Sugar Cream frowned. “You look like you're about to cry” Digital hadn't noticed but his eyes had started getting watery with all the thinking he had been doing. Maybe now wasn't the best time to think, and what good was there in thinking about it? The small filly gave him a warm smile. “Does somepony need a hug?” Hearing those words only softened Digitals heart. He was raising such a beautiful, kindhearted filly. “Y-yes sweetie, daddy could use a hug” he managed to say while smiling back. With that said, Sugar hopped down from her seat, trotted to her father's side of the table, jumped up to his seat and wrapped her tiny hooves around his torso best she could. “I love you daddy” she said. Digital couldn't hold back anymore. He definitely felt the tears coming this time, but only a few managed to stream down his face. It was moments like this they made every moment of being a parent worth it, to hear your own child tell you how much they love you. Even in good times or bad, they would never think differently of you. Nothing could make him happier. “Daddy loves you too sweetheart” … After a tasty and satisfying meal, the duo headed out of the restaurant with their stomachs full and appetite satisfied. It was nearly dark outside, with the sun just barely shedding what light was left outside before the moon came out. The walk back wasn't that bad, to Digital he seemed a lot closer to town then he thought, which was great. Considering he was somewhat close to everything. “Alright sweetie, you excited to see our new home?” He asked. The filly bounced up and down. “Yes Yes Yes! I can't wait to see my new room, the bathroom. I can't wait to see the house itself” Digital chuckled in response. “Well since I was trying to find my way to here for most of the time while you were in school. A lot of our furniture is still wrapped up, but don't worry I'll be sure to set up your bed first thing when we step through the door” The duo had finally reached the house, it was dark on the inside but that didn't suppress Sugars excitement for seeing the new home. As Digital and Sugar walked up to the door. The little filly couldn't hold her excitement in, she had been wanting to see the new house ever since Digital said they were going to be moving. “Alright sugar now remember, not a lot of furniture is set up yet, so we’ll have to do that before we d-” Digital stopped when her turned the handle. It was unlocked. “Huh? Did I forget the lock the door?” Sugar looked up at Digital. “Is something wrong daddy?” “Well no but…” Digital pondered for a sec before shrugging it off. “Well I did run off in a hurry earlier when I went to pick you up from school, clumsy me” “Please celestia and everything holy, please let nothing be stolen” Digital thought. Digital twisted the doorknob with his magic and slowly opened the door. Once the door was completely open. The darkness in the house had been replaced by lights that came on all around the inside of the house, a crowd of ponies were standing inside smiling toward the Stallion and his Daughter. “Surprise!!” “Surprise!” Exclaimed a Pinkie pony jumping out in front of the two.
