Twilight woke up in the middle of the night. Not because of a nightmare or forgetting to plan something about the oncoming Summer Sun Celebration, but of thirst much to her surprise. She quickly threw the covers of her bed to the side.

She slowly stood up, taking her time on regaining full consciousness. She shook her head left and right to discard her drowsiness. She looked around her room, the ambient sounds of the crickets filling up the silence of Luna's wonderful night. Feeling slightly more awake then earlier, she trotted out of her room and down the staircase. She graced her hoof on the walls guiding the stair case. Feeling every bump and hole the staircase leading to the main library area has.

She saw the sleeping figure of Spike on a big fluffy pillow beside the tree stump in the middle of the room. She smiled at the purple dragon that was lightly snoring through the night. The dragon tossed and turned around his pillow, certainly having a good dream.

She trotted slowly towards the kitchen, through the wooden pavement and to be as quiet as possible as to not wake up her little brother. She trotted past the various kitchen appliances and utensil she had and walked up to the fridge and opened it revealing a small array of foodstuffs. She ran her eyes through them and finally saw what she was looking for, she levitated the gallon of milk towards then kitchen table.

She trotted towards the cupboard, opening it and levitating a clean glass down to her. She then levitated then poured some milk on the glass. Then quickly putting the gallon of milk in the fridge again.

She slowly trotted to the living room, casually levitating the glass of milk and taking the occasional sip, the sweet nectar flowing down her throat. She started looking around the shelves until her eyes fell on a familiar photo, framed differently from the others around it.

She smiled as memories of her friends flooded her mind; how they first met with each other, how they all ended up being the closest and greatest of friends, and how they helped each other grow as ponies.. She glanced at the sleeping purple drake, wondering is the dragon still harboured feelings for Rarity, the element of Generosity.

The day where they took the photo was still fresh in her mind. It was on a picnic, nothing unusual for them since they took one almost once every two weeks. They would converse about what happened that week and so forth. It was one of the days where they could relax with one another, and they never missed one.

Rainbow Dash was talking about how Tank was starting to do flips with his propellor. Twilight and Rarity were sharing a cup of chamomile tea, to calm their nerves from the work-heavy week they went through. Rarity offered some to Applejack, but she said that a good apple cider can fix anything, and proceeded to do so. The two simply laughed at the stubborn mare's mannerisms, but in hindsight, that was made her Applejack, the honest hard-working mare that always treated everyone like a younger sibling.

Pinkie was the one that bought the camera and also of capturing a photo of them. Spike was all too happy to take the photo, mostly because of Rarity requesting it, but it's the thought that counts. They all gathered together at one spot and they put on their best smiles, so that when they could see this in the future, they would remember their friendship and bods together.

After the photo was taken, everything just seemed to continue where it left off. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were hoof wrestling, the two being the competitive mares as always. Fluttershy was talking with Pinkie Pie, with Rarity and Twilight still drinking their tea.

She remembered how they would celebrate birthdays with one another, the times when they would clear out their schedules just to help one another with a gathering or a problem they don't want others to help them with.

"Such good memories..." she whispered to herself as she sipped from her glass again. A light stream flowing down her smiling face, landing on Fluttershy and Applejack's faces, she felt herself shaking slightly. Such fond friends they were, all of them brought out the best in one another.

Placing the photo back on its shelf, she trotted up to her room and entered. She looked around again, taking in the all too familiar surroundings, it was her room after all. Her eyes fell upon an old lavender unicorn in looking back at her from the mirror. She could see her wrinkles and how frail the mare looked from afar. She finished her glass of milk and placed it on the side table. She sat on the side of her bed and stared at her reflection for a long while. She thought how fast time flys by, and how you wouldn't notice it with such good friends by your side.

She stood up and lifted a hoof towards the mirror. Stroking the flat reflective surface with a nostalgic feeling rising in her gut. She stared at herself one last time for the night and smiled. She surely spent many crazy adventures with her friends.

She climbed onto her bed and felt the fluffy cloth working its magic on her sleepiness. Her mind suddenly thought about her friends again as she yawned, result and one sole tear streamed down her face, signalling that she really wanted to rest now. She placed her head on the pillow as one last thought played out in her mind.

'Today was a good day.'

And with that, sleep took over her form. Her mind slipping into the dreamscape as her consciousness flew over to her dreams.

She woke up with somepony shaking her. She groggily opened her eyes and couldn't make out the pony's face due to the sun behind her. After her eyes readjusted, she saw a the mare give a big shiny grin. She knew that grin anywhere...

"P-Pinkie Pie?"
