I get Kidnapped by pastel colored ponies and turned into a mythical Creature
Wisdom was a normal girl. When she's pulled into Equestria by an Overcharged spell, she Reacts the same way anyone would, she panics. When she starts to remember things from before, she seeks the help of a Mysterious Gryphon mage. During the journey she discovers a little about herself and her past.
I consider myself to be a normal person. A little crazy, I admit, but who isn't? Bad things happen to good people... I'm not a good person. I was chilling in my Foster home with my Baby brother trying to figure out how to use a Yo-Yo when all of a sudden a tingling sensation traveled through my body. I shivered and grabbed a blanket. My brother (His name is Benny, are you happy?) stood and glared at me. "I was using that."
"I know that, I'm trying to deter you from that." I grin wickedly and run out of the room before he has a chance to process what I said. Which normally takes about...
"GET BACK HERE!" Huh, Quicker than I thought. I shudder as the feeling comes over me again, more violently this time. I duck into the kitchen where our Foster Mother is cooking dinner.
"Looks delish." she smiles and mumbles something about as I run out the door into the yard, with my brother not far behind.
"GIVE ME BACK MY BLANKET!" I open my mouth to shout at him but I get a splitting headache. I clutch my forehead in an effort to dull the pain but it doesn't work. I yank on my hair and scream. My brother reaches out to touch my shoulder. "Are you alright?"
I shake my head. There's too much pain to speak. It feels like someone pumped me full of liquid fire. I fall down to my knees and scream. My bones creak and ache. My brother's mouth moves like he's saying something but I can't hear it. I just nod as he runs back inside the house and the whole world goes black.
That's the last I saw of them.
I groaned. I can hear two people arguing. I try to focus on what they're saying instead of the pain in my body. My back feels like a giant grabbed me and rubbed me against a cheese grater. I tried to move some part of my body, any part really, but all i managed to do was lift my head a bit.
"I don't see what the big problem is, it's not like I turned her into an orange."
"The spell wasn't supposed to bring a person! It was supposed to balance the magic.
I stood unsteadily. My bones felt wobbly and fragile. I open my hand and flex it. I felt someone touch my shoulder. "Are you Okay?" I nod. "Goodness! I think she's gone mute!"
I opened my mouth. "Dung Dyed." I open my mouth and flex to get some feeling into it. I stretched my body out and hear an audible crack. I feel the muscles in my back flex twice, almost reflexively. I opened my eyes and saw the furry face of a yellow Pegasus with a mark of three butterflies on her butt, a lavender unicorn with wings, and a bizarre creature with parts of many different creatures put together.
I screamed and bolted for the door. I think it was a decent reaction.
The door shattered as I collided with it. A short purple lizard screamed and hid under a table as I passed. I ignored him and kept running. I broke down the next door. I skidded to a stop outside and my eyes widened at the sight. All the colors were sharp and clear and a rich cocktail of scents assaulted me.
The bright colored Ponies screamed and ran from the sight of me. I started Hyperventilating. It was almost too much. "Wait! Oh, if it's not too much to ask."
I looked back and saw the trio closing in on me. I bolt away before they can reach me. After a few moments I look back to see if they're following me. While my head is turned to look back I slam into a furry wall. I look up at the looming figure and see the strange Chimera Creature. He leans down with a grin on his face. "Boo!"
I scream and try to run in the opposite direction. He grabs my tail before I can. "When the Buck did I get a tail?" I stop. "Why can't I say Buck!"
"Language young lady!" the Chimera Snaps his paw and a bar of soap appears in front of me. he stuffs it in my mouth an chuckles. The yellow Pegasus flies up to him and gives him a glare. He sighs and the soap disappears. I spit and rub the taste out of my mouth.
I start walking in circles to get a good look at the bottom half of my body. My tail is long and agile and obviously belongs to a lion. I notice two large, black, bird wings that flex and flap at will unlike my tail that twitches every few moments. I look down at my hands which have transformed into talons. I'm so caught up in these revelations I barely notice the Lavender Unicorn walk up to me.
She taps my shoulder and I literately jump three feet up into the air. I collapse in a heap and rub my nose (Beak) and shoot the Chimera creature a nasty glare for laughing. The Unicorn suppresses a giggle. "There's no reason to be afraid. My name is Twilight Sparkle. These are my Friends Fluttershy and Discord." The Pegasus waves shyly and the Chimera perches on a cloud, watching me intently. "Why don't we go talk in the Library?" The Unicorn gestures to the large oak tree in the center of town.
"Okay." I'm not exactly comfortable with being in a closed space but maybe they can tell me what's going on.
As we enter the library the Purple Lizard eyes me with caution. "Twilight?"
Twilight smiles at him. "Don't worry Spike. this is just..." she trailed off. "I just realized we don't know your name."
I blushed. "My name is Wisdom."
"That's a lovely name. Ask anything you like."
I take a deep breath. what do I want to know the most? "What is he?" I point at Discord.
He acts offended. "I am a Draconequus..."
I cut him off before he could continue. Mostly just to annoy him. "That's nice. Okay, next question, Why am I here?"
The Unicorn raises an eyebrow. "I'm surprised you didn't start with that." She shrugged. "Well I was trying out a new spell I've been working on and Needed Discord's magic. I was trying to fix an imbalance of Magic between your world and mine and suddenly you appeared."
I tap my chin and think. "What are those weird marks on your flanks?" Damn. Can't say Ass.
"You mean our Cutie Marks?" I nod. "The represent Special talents. Mine is magic. Fluttershy's is Taking care of animals."
I started to ask my next question when a loud crash sounded through the whole library. A Cyan pegasus with a rainbow colored mane and tail crashed through the roof. I felt my bones vibrating and energy surged through my veins. Discord summoned a bubble around him and Fluttershy. Twilight Wrapped her Wings around Spike and Turned away.
I Squeak as I disappear and find myself surrounded by Trees, bushes, and vines. I look around and back up into a tree. "Oh Horseapples."
I took a deep breath to calm myself. It's not that big a deal. Just keep calm and... What? How do I find my way back? Is there a Path back to the library or..? I let out a sigh. "Forward ho." I started to walk forward. If I just walk straight I'll get there... maybe.
I wandered for a while until I grew tired and sat. I yelped and shot up. There was a large brown thorn sticking out of my flank. "Ugh." I attempt to grip it between my talons. all that happens is I manage to loosen it a bit. I groan and twist until i manage to grip it in my beak. "Ot ya'."
I give a fierce tug and the Thorn comes free. I spit it out and sigh. "I wish I was at Home." I flap my Wings a few times but they fail to take me off the ground. "What's the point in Having these things if the don't Work?" I Flap harder, sending up dirt and leaves. I rear up on my Hind Legs. "It's probably because of my weight. I must be too heavy."
Control.
I blinked. The voice was familiar but not at the same time. the Voice speaks again. Gryphons like you and I must Focus on every movement our wings make. We're too big to flap them aroung willy nilly.
I close my eyes and focus on the movement of my wings. I notice that they feel stiff and limited. I lower myself to the ground and stretch my wings. when I feel that my Wings are loose enough to Fly, I flap them, tilting them slightly when they rise and again when they fall. "It's not so hard."
I rose several feet before I began to Grow tired. "Come Huff... OnHuff...And... Get... me... out of... here!" Eventually I broke through the cover of the trees. I looked in every direction until I say the City. or village. or just a town. It doesn't matter, the sun is setting and I'm exhausted. I start to fly towards it as fast as a can. I didn't think I was going very fast but when I opened my eyes I was inches away from a window. I shouted. Instead of glass I smashed into Books.
I thrashed around trying to find my way out. I managed to get right side up. Discord was wearing a French maid outfit and holding a feather duster. We stared at each other for a few seconds. "I don't know how to respond to this."
Discord snapped his talons and the Outfit disappeared and the books were back on the shelf, granted they were all in the wrong places. All his Goofyness from earlier dissolved. "A teleportation spell. How did you pull that off?"
"What? I can't understand how I did it, I just did."
He got up close with a scowl on his face, his voice threatening. "If you hurt Fluttershy..."
"Relax dude." I step around him. "I'm not going to hurt your Marefriend." This new vocabulary is going to take some getting used to. I think. "I just want to go home."
There was a light knock on the Door. As I stepped forward the Door flew open. A Gryphon stepped Halfway inside the doorway and looked right at me. His fur was dark gray and his feathers were falling off. The bags under his eyes could've held all the books in the library. "You're alive!" He Rasped.
With saying that he collapsed on the Ground completely limp.
I lift him onto my back and run over to the table in the center of the room. My wing shoots out and knocks everything off. I set the Gryphon on the table and listen to his ragged breathing. He was alive but close to death. He knew who I was. or at least he thought he did. Why? And who was he? Did he know my parents? Did my parents live in this world? If they did, why?
I turn on Discord. "Do you know any Healing spells?"
"Of course I do!" he pushes me aside and snaps his fingers over the Old Gryphon. Nothing happens. "That's odd." He snaps his fingers again and still nothing happens.
I growl. "Fine!" I push him aside with my wing. "I'll do it myself!" I place a claw against his chest. Alzati fratello e sentire di nuovo il vento! Electricity crackled in the air and wind blew open the windows. My wings snap open and I feel like my eyes were on fire. There was a crack and I was sent flying back into the Bookshelf.
I stared at the tiny Rabbit in my claws. It's wounded, my instincts are telling me to eat it but my heart tells me to help it. I look up at my teacher. He nods encouragingly. I gulp and look back at the rabbit. it's eyes are wide in fear and it's ears fall down next to his head. I open my mouth to eat him but stop. I'm positive that rabbits developed their cuteness to ward off predators.
I tuck the rabbit against my chest and bolt towards the large building. My mentor blinks in confusion than comes after me. I dive behind a rock and cradle the rabbit in my claws and wish that I hadn't hurt it. i wished that the rabbit was whole and healthy. I feel a sudden charge run through me and the Rabbit in my Claws hops away, my wish fulfilled. The Rabbit looks back at me. I shoo him away and he disappears into a bush.
I beam, content with my good deed. There's a dull thud behind me. "I hope that wasn't your dinner."
I turn and look at the massive Gryphon standing over me. I trace circles in the dirt. "Sorry dad. I couldn't do it. It was so cute."
He sighs. "Did you use your magic?"
"I didn't mean to! I swear." I fade out "It just happens."
"If anyone found out about your magic do you know what they'll do to us! To you!" He shuddered. He regained his composure and placed a massive wing over me. "Healing magic. A strange power for a Gryphon to have."
"Why do all the Mages go away?" My father stiffened at the question. I held back tears. "Why don't the Warlords like Gryphons like me? Is there something wrong with me?"
He frowned. "Don't think like that." He pulled himself up into a regal position, worthy of a Warlord. "You are my kin, one of the most powerful Gryphons in the Empire. Never let anyone view you as any less than they are."
I shot up and look around. I was in a fairly comfortable bed. not a hospital room as I expected. I opened my wings, other than some stiffness there was no pain. I head down the stairs and spot the Gryphon whose life I saved chatting with Twilight merrily. "It's such a relief to speak freely about the Arcane arts without fear of persecution."
Twilight beamed. "I didn't even know Gryphons could use magic! I've never read anything about it before and Celestia has never mentioned anything about it before either." She tapped her chin with a hoof. "Do you mind if I pick your brain?"
"Too late." the Pair turn to look at me. "I already called it." I approach the Gryphon and realize I'm almost twice his size. "Who am I?"
He seems surprised by the question. "You are Honest Wisdom, Daughter of Silvertail and Timid of the GoldenWing Clan. You disappeared thirteen years ago when you were frightened and used a teleportation spell to escape. I was your mentor, you've always had trouble controlling your magic."
I keep a stern look on my face. "Why are you here?"
"You never finished your training." We both held our ground for a few moments. I flung my arms Around his neck and sob. He puts his claws around me awkwardly. "There, there."
Silvertongue was droning about how Gryphons could channel magic through their wings. I really didn't care and I just wanted to get to the part where I learned how to keep myself from teleporting everytime I hear a loud noise. I yawned. It was going to be a long day. My head drooped closer to the ground.
I heard cymbals clash and yelped. My feather poofed and my tail goes straight. I hear two ponies laughing, or rather one pony and one draconequus. I shake myself and my feathers settle. I take deep breaths to cool the anger growing inside. Control I smile. I can prank them later.
Silvertongue gives them a disapproving scowl. "Perhaps we should move on to control."
Finally! I think. Twilight is scribbling notes rapidly on the scroll in front of her. "Wisdom, what do you remember about your lessons in the manipulations of the Arcane element of fire?"
My mouth drops open and the words spill out. "Fire is one of the hardest elements to control, second hardest to Chaos magic. If one does not control their emotions while using said magic they can cause untold destruction and throw their minds out of balance, While fire destroys it also creates, burning away the rotten and corrupted and leaving the untainted and innocent." Everyone's jaws dropped, even twilight stopped taking notes to watch. "Without fire there is no warmth, fire lives in all creatures just like magic. some creatures like dragons and phoenixes are born with the ability to use fire while creatures like Gryphons and ponies can learn to manipulate it through intense study and concentration." I concluded.
Silvertongue smiled. "Word for word."
I tried to keep my eyes on him during the rest of the lecture. But then I noticed a very annoying fly buzzing around my face. I growled and tried to bat it away. I snorted out smoke and it buzzed away. I smile. Neat
An unlit torch falls down in front of me. "Light it."
I lift it in my claw and stare at it. How did it go again? "Fai luce delle tenebre e bruciare le ombre." The Torch burst into flame. I yelp and drop it and the flame extinguishes. When I pick it up again the flame returns. "Well that's practical."
"Yes, yes, that's all lovely. What I want to know is what you know about Chaos magic?" Discord appeared in front of me wth a challenging look in his eyes.
I cringe when a wave of information assaults me. "I'd rather not say." I cringe again. "I know you caused the end of the Draconequus empire with it." I blurt. I squeak and teleport back to the library. I become assaulted by information.
"What can you tell me about the Dangers of Chaos magic?"
I bounce in a circle around Silvertongue. "Chaos magic makes you go loco in the cocoa. And then the elements of harmony turn you to stone and you become trapped for eternity!" I throw up my claws. I loose my balance and fall down on my butt. Silvertongue chuckled. I scramble to my feet. "Why did Discord go crazy?"
"That is a long and dark tale that isn't for children." He places a wing over me. "Chaos is not a magic for creatures like us to know." We walk down the hall to a pair of tall doors. "Remember not to get too angry with your limitations."
I lift my head proudly. "I don't have limitations! I mastered Healing magic with no help at all!"
He smiles proudly at me. "You still have a long way to go first." A rumble shakes the ground beneath my feet, He places a claw over me. "Calm yourself!"
"I-i-i c-c-can't!" the Magic blasts through me and I'm blinded by fire and magic.
There was a light knock on the door to my room. "Wisdom?" A book slams into the door. "Oh, I'll just stay out here then." I listen to see if she leaves when she doesn't I sigh. The door swings open.
"Come in."
She steps in shyly. "Discord Came home and locked himself in the Guest room."
"I may have brought up some of his past." I pull the pillow over my head. "The part best left forgotten in his twisted mind."
Fluttershy places a hoof on my shoulder. "Whatever he did I'm sure he feels really bad about it."
"Maybe."
"So, umm... what did he do?" I look out from under the pillow. "Just curious." She blushed.
"I don't know the whole story. You should ask him."
I was having a very nice dream about fish. I told Twilight that I didn't mind not eating meat for the sake of the people of ponyville, but Fish were on my mind a lot lately. Anyway the dream started out pretty good then I was nearly eaten by a giant piranha. It stopped being good around that point.
I woke up hungry. It wasn't the first or last time that would happen, I have a fast metabolism. I jumped out the window and flew towards the closest lake. I stared at all the tasty little fishies swimming around. Maybe just a few. My claw shot out and pulled one out by the tail. It wriggled in my claws and it's tasty little friends swam away. "Sorry, but it's survival of the fittest." I dangled the Fish above my mouth with my jaw open wide.
"Wisdom!" Fluttershy snapped.
I smile innocently. "Hey, Fluttershy. It's a lovely night we're having." She glared at me. I grumble under my breath and put the fish back in the pond. "Goodbye my sweet little morsel." i whisper as it swims away.
"You promised that you wouldn't eat any of Ponyvilles innocent little Critters." She put her hooves on her hips.
"It's a fish," I cross my arms. "Not a critter." I grab another fish wit my tail. "See? Scales, no adorable fur." I put it back. I could tell she was about to use her stare on me. "I pinkie promise not to eat any adorable critters in Ponyville. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."
She seemed content with that and fly away. I sigh and watch the lovely fish swim around without a care in the world. "I hate you." I snap out my wings and take off for the skies. I fly around the city for a while before I remember the Forest near ponyville. everyone called it the Everfree. I bank left and fly towards it. "Celestia I love loopholes."
I lounged in the tree content after my feast. The fish in the forest were fat and stupid. So were the lizards. My tail twitched, the only movement I managed to make.
I heard buzzing sounds and voices. I looked around and listened closely. "Chrysalis will be pleased."
"We'll have the God of Chaos at our disposal! There's no way our next raid will fail!"
God of Chaos? the gears in my head started turning. my eyes widened in an Epiphany. "Discord." I whisper.
"What I don't get is... Why the Pegasus?" there was a thud. "OW!"
I follow the sounds of the voice and find to Pony shaped bugs walking down the path. I watch closely and stay silent. The larger of the two speaks. "They're the closest, the two are practically inseparable."
"So grab pegasus, leave note, take over Equestria!"
"Easy as Pie!"
My eyes widen. I need to warn Fluttershy! I feel the familiar warmth travel through my body and I find myself back at the library. "Not where I need to be!" I bolt for the door and fly through the city looking for the yellow Pegasus. My wings flap at an unbelievable speed and I make sharp turns with barely any problem. My ears( or whatever counts as ears for a Gryphon) listen closely to every sound. the crickets, the frogs, the sound of the wind and my wings.
I almost positive that I'll never find her when I hear a Squeak. I look down and see a pearly white bunny jumping around and making frantic gestures. "Is something wrong?"
He slaps his forehead and points toward the Everfree. "Something bad came out of the Everfree?" His head bobbed up and down. He points to a puddle on the ground. "Water?" he shakes his head and points again. I look down at the puddle. He gestures at my reflection and makes frantic sounds. "Gryphons?" he nods again. "Lead the way my fluffy friend." he hops away.
We approach a Cottage on the Edge of the Everfree. I hear crashing sounds and evil chuckles. The bunny points inside and runs away. "Coward."
I approach the door. I smell a rank scent like rotting meat. I hear a terrified whimper. I charge the door and growl. Two Gryphons look back at me. One has a a greenish coat and the other has a gray coat. "Silvertongue!" I growl and crouch low. "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing." He stiffened.
I notice a pink tail under a couch. "Same thing you're doing here, I'm looking for Fluttershy."
He chuckles nervously. "What are you talking about? Why would we be looking for Fluttershy?"
"Why else would you be here?"
The two look at each other. "Kill her." Silvertongue says to the other Gryphon. The second Gryphon is huge, almost twice my size. I back up a little for good measure.
"Time to go." I leap past him and grab Fluttershy's tail. She squeaks and I teleport both of us out of there. We don't automatically appear in Twilight's library, instead we bounce from the Everfree, to Sweet Apple acres, then to the top of a mountain then finally the library. I sway back and forth a little. Using so much magic at once was draining. I shook my head. "You alright, Fluttershy?"
She examined herself. "I'm fine..."
"Your mane is singed."
"It's okay." she rubbed her foreleg with a hoof. "How did you know I was in trouble? If it's not too much to ask."
"An adorable little bunny rabbit told me. Where's Discord?"
"He went back to Canterlot, Celestia thought he was causing mischief." She frowned a bit at the last part. I place a Wing over her. "Not that it matters, I just thought he'd stay for a bit longer."
"You should rest." I gesture to my bed. "Make yourself comfortable."
Her eyes widen. "Oh, i couldn't do that! Where will you sleep?"
I shrug. "I can't sleep any way." I sit next to the door. "I insist."
"Oh, okay then." She hops onto the bed and pulls the covers up to her chin. "Goodnight Wisdom."
"Good night Fluttershy." I curl up next to the door and close my eyes.
I feel a slight poke in my side. I roll over and scratch my belly. "Wisdom?"
"Five more minutes." I snore.
"You're blocking the door." I crack open an eyelid, Fluttershy hides behind her hair. "It's alright,"
I stand and stretch. "I guess I was tired." I smooth out my feathers and yawn. "Going somewhere?" I curl up on my bed ready to go back to sleep.
"Oh, Applejack asked me if I could swing by today." She tapped her chin with a hoof. "And I have a spa day with Rarity. then Pinkie has a party planned, and I need to Feed my animals."
Something tells me that her list is a heck of a lot longer than that. I figure she could use some help to shorten the list, even if it's just by one. "I can take care of that." Her eyes widen. "Don't worry, I won't eat any of them."
"Umm..." She traces a hoof over the wooden floor. She mumbles something incoherent. I raise an eyebrow. "You might frighten some of them. I mean...you're really big... A Lot bigger than some of the other gryphons I've met..."
I sigh. "Fluttershy, I'm pretty sure that if they can handle Discord they can handle little old me."
"Demon spawn!" I dodged another attack from the army of woodland creatures. Angel bunny had rallied them against me. They were now firing Acorns and pebbles at me. "Eat your dinner already!" A pile of a suspicious brown substance wizzed past my head. it smacked "That's it!"
I grabbed the carrot and charged the barrier. The bunny general shouted orders at his troops. I leaped over the barrier and grab the bunny. He squirmed and made squeaking sounds. He tries to bite down on my hand and gets a Mouthful of carrot. I drop him and he attacks the carrot with gusto.
I sigh. The rabbits go back to their activities that don't involve a coup. I swear that rabbit is the devil incarnate. A few birds had sided with me but those were few and far between.
I flex my wings. The feathers are all crooked and there's dirt and twigs sticking out of them. They're starting to itch and there's gunk in between I pluck some out and yelp. The bunny looks at my wings and points at the bookshelf. I roll my eyes at him. "I'm not interested in reading right now." He facepaws. I watch as the tiny rabbit hops over to the book shelf and points at a specific book. Following his instructions, I take the book and look at the title. Preening for dummies. I glare at him. "Nice to know what you think of me."
I open the book and start reading.
I expertly plucked another twig from my wing with my beak. My left wing is picked clean of every offending bit of dirt. I flap it a few times. Good as new. I start on the next wing. There's a knock on the door and the animals all freeze. The door flies open and a bright pink pony bounces in. "Ohmycelestia! I heard there was a new gryphon in town and I got so excited! What's your name?!? I'm Pinkie! Why are you staying in Fluttershy's place? Do you like animals? What's your favorite ice-cream? Mine is chocolate! I mean who doesn't..!" I clamped a claw over over her mouth before anything else poured out.
"My name is Wisdom, I'm staying at the library, I like vanilla icecream and will you please stop licking my hand?"
When I pull my claw away she resumed her jabbering. Suddenly she gasped like she just remembered something important. "I almost forgot! I need to throw you a welcome to Ponyville party!" She zooms off faster than anything I've ever seen in my life!
I chuckle to myself. This is going to be interesting.
I ruffled my wings in anticipation. The fire in the palm of my hand flickered in and out. I looked up at the mosaic of Discord's defeat. I wasn't allowed down here. But no one was telling me anything. I'll just have to find out myself. I growled in frustration, my concentration still wasn't enough to keep the fire going. I looked around and spotted a bowl of oil. Perfect.
I ran over and lit it. The light hurt my eyes. I looked at the mosaic and gasped. Gryphons. Fighting along side the ponies. My face lit up as I turned around in a circle. I skip around from joy.
My gaze fell on another section of the wall and my grin faded. Chains holding down the Gryphons. Other Gryphons leading them down into mines. I backed away in fear. in the mines the Gryphons in chains were forced to use their magic to sap away the earths gems and stones. The Air Mages were slaughtered for their 'uselessness'. Fire mages plucked away from their families from young ages and raised with murderous intent.
I stumble away and back into a statue. I yelp in fear. The statue Towered over me with a somber look on her face. I glanced down at the inscription.
"Our Final Warmage, Gaia, who fought for all the Creatures on the Makers green earth. Her sacrifice will never be forgotten." I felt confused. Who was she? what did she do? Why were the Mages being oppressed after helping fight Discord?
"What are you doing down here?" A large cloaked figure loomed over me. "Little Hatchlings like you shouldn't stray too far from the nest."
I gulped. "Gee, look at the time ,got to go!" I flew off as fast as I could, my tiny wings buzzing as fast as they could.
I walked timidly towards the bakery. No biggie. Just a party. Filled with loud, obnoxious noises. And people. So many People. I quivered. Normally the fact wouldn't bother me but lately I'd found that my senses were a lot sharper than the average Pony's. So it wasn't going to be very fun seeing as the party was probably going to be filled with loud noises. I opened the door prepared for any and all possible sounds.
I was not expecting a one pony band wearing giant sunglasses and flippers. "SURPRISE!!!!" fortunately I had tamed the Teleportation reflex. Pinkie started bouncing circles around me excitedly. my mouth hung open in shock, I barely registered what she was saying. "...But really what could top that?"
"There's... a tiny alligator... chewing on your hair."
"Uh-huh! This is Gummy! Oh I almost forgot! I have to introduce you to every pony!"
She grabbed me and started to drag me around the room. She rattled off names faster than I could process them. "...And Bon-Bon and Lyra and Octavia and Screwball and Rarity and Twilight! She's Princess Celestia's Personal student! Well she was, until She got caught in this awesome spell that turned her into an Alicorn! And then Mph-mumph...!" A lavender Hoof corked her mouth.
"Um... Pinkie? Maybe you should let Wisdom adjust first." Twilight forced a smile.
"Mumph-umph!" Twilight removed her hoof. Pinkie bounced away.
I hugged her. "Thank you!" I held her at arms length. "I wasn't sure how much more I could stand."
Twilight giggled. "Pinkie Pie has that effect on people. Her Special Talent is throwing Parties."
My feathers settled. I didn't even realize they were ruffled. "Still, a bit much don't you think?"
"It's just Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie. Oh I love this song." She started to dance, or at least something vaguely related to dancing. Her legs flailed randomly and I ended up retreating into a corner to avoid being pummeled.
I looked over the party to find a path to the Buffet table. "Hiya Wisdom!" Pinkie appeared seemingly out of nowhere and blew a noisemaker right in my ear. or at least I think it was my ear. My anatomy is all messed up now.
I jumped a few feet into the air and tumbled into a heap. Why must there be so much noise. My vision was suddenly clouded by white. The Unicorn Mare held out a hoof. "Oh dear, are you alright?"
I stretched and my bones crackled. I groaned in pain. "Just Dandy." She helped me back up to my feet. "Thanks." I murmured.
"I'm terribly sorry about that, Pinkie an be a bit much at the best of times. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Rarity" She offered
"Wisdom." I respond.
She examined my fur and opened my wings. "Hmmm... I almost never get to work with this color, Or a Gryphon for that Matter. You should Swing by my Boutique some time. I'll make make you something to show off to that special somepony in your life~" She Said.
I giggled. "I don't have one... or any money for that matter."
"Oh, Pfft. It's free. It'll be an excellent experience just to make it." She Posed. "That dress is going to be Fabulous~!"
I smiled. She seemed nice. "Sure. I'll stop by." She made a squee sound and hugged me tightly. Free back adjustment. She strutted off happily.
"Oh come on!" The blue pegasus flew up to me. "the First Gryphon to come to Ponyville since Gilda and she jumps at the chance to be girled up by our Resident fasionista! I thought you were cool!"
I blinked. "I'm not allowed to be awesome and have a guilty pleasure of wearing pretty dresses."
"NO!"
I glanced around. "Now I'm confused."
"Gah! FORGET IT!" The Pegasus flew off angrily.
"Ignore her." An Orange Earth pony trotted over to me. "AppleJack." she pointed at herself. "Rainbow Dash is just a mite..."
"Hot-headed? TomColtish? Anti-frilly?"
"All of the above." She shrugged. "I don't understand what all the fuss is about. if I can sit though one of Rarity's fashion binges so can She."
I smiled. "I'm actually excited to see what she makes. It'll be worth standing still for hours on end."
I stood poised in an attack position, reared up on my hind legs and splayed out my claws. Father paced in circles around me, correcting every mistake he saw. "You're balance is off."
"Father..."
"Hush! you need to concentrate on your form. show me the Quick Claw." I lowered myself to the ground keeping my hindlegs in the same place. I curled one claw and pulled it close to my chest. In the blink of an eye, it shot out and raked three parallel lines down the side of the battle dummy's chest. "Strike to kill." i repeated the action and slashed the neck of the dummy. "Perfect. Again, the other claw this time."
"You alright?" I blinked. I hadn't realized I'd zoned out. Applejack had a concerned look on her face.
I flew over Ponyville happily. Flight had come pretty easily after the first crashing incident. I still couldn't pull off any neat tricks but I was getting there. My endurance was growing and Preening was easy as pie. I dived towards the Everfree. It was a wonderful place to relax and think. I even had my very own cave there.
After finding the cave I had turned it into a getaway. It was the perfect place to practice my magic. There was no one around, it was quiet, and it was rich with outside magic. I took a stance and reached inside myself with my mind. My magic thrummed through my body to the heart beat of the earth. pulling some magic from the well I decided on something simple. Growing Magic. I sent my mind through the earth and found a small seed of potential.
My mind wrapped around the future tree and sent the magic through. The Tree stirred but still slept. I sent another, stronger wave through the earth to the tree. The tree began to awaken, wiggling it's way through the ground in search of the sun. The stem strengthened and punched through the surface.
i opened my eyes to see there was a small tree at the edge of the cave. right inside the shadow but close enough to the sun. I sent my mind into the tree and made it grow towards the light.
"Gryphon Magic." I stiffened. no one knew I was here. I turned to see Discord standing next to a tall red creature. "This is a wonderful gift."
"Oh don't thank me, I just knew where to find her." Discord grinned wickedly. I backed up. before I could spread my wings I was caught in a powerful aura. I kicked and squirmed against it's grip.
I screeched. "Let me go you filthy abomination!" I felt something rise out of my throat and I opened my mouth reflexively. I could taste dirt. My throat burned then cooled. Once it ended my body felt weak and tired. The Aura dropped me and I tried to look up. Discord looked away to avoid my gaze. I wheezed. "What... about... Fluttershy..?" I went limp and knew nothing.
My eyes opened and I forced myself to my feet. i stumbled a few feet forward. "Have to warn... Twilight... and Fluttershy." I limped forward. My body felt weak and small. I opened my wings and took off. I was a lot slower than before and my wings felt sore. I went as far as i could and tumbled out of the sky i cashed into the Edge of Sweet Apple Acres. As I rose to my feet and looked up at the sky. in the Distance i saw two figures, One Small one huge, clashing in a violent battle. Lights flashed and illuminated their forms.
"I'm... too late!" I collapsed. It wasn't worth it to keep going. I cried out to the heavens and sobbed.
The battle went silent. the silence was seemingly endless. For the longest time I just laid there and cried softly. Everything hurt. My body was forcing itself to keep working without magic. Another Explosion sounded above me and I felt my strength return. everything was lit up with bright colors. My wings flared and I felt Strong again. I Flew up into the sky and Whooped and soared. I watched a castle rise out of the ground at the edge of Ponyville.
"Yes! Good Conquers evil! I love this world!" I zoomed towards it as fast as I could.
I Flew in to find everyone forgive Discord and Twilight to Finish a musical number about Friendship. I tackled her in a hug. "Oof!"
"That was awesome! At first I thought you were goig to lose and we would all be doomed to live under that red dudes evil rule for all eternity. but then you fought back and blasted him with rays of friendship that stripped him of his power and returned our magic to us!" I sucked in a breath. "You're the Best princess Ever!"
"Air!"
"Oh sorry." I let her go and smiled. "I'm eternally in your debt." I bowed.
There were a few giggles. "Twilight, would you like to introduce us to your friend?"
"Princess Celestia, this is Wisdom, She sort of my Roommate." Twilight addressed a tall White alicorn.
I bowed deeply to both of them again. "Your majesties." I trotted off to mingle.
I Soared through the halls. The place was huge. I wanted to get a layout of the building. After the party Twilight Explained that the Library had been destroyed during the fight. She was still very interested in learning more about my magic so she asked me to stay. She sent mt to go find a room to claim as my own.
I tilted the edges of my wings up and flew up the spiral staircase. This place was way cooler than the Library but I felt bad that All of the books were gone. I made a note to visit the rubble and try to salvage any that were left.
I heard sobbing. I stopped and looked around. the sound came from a nearby room. I approached the door cautiously. "Hello?" The sobs went quiet. I continued. "Are you okay?" No answer. "If you lost someone during the battle I offer my sincerest condolences." Silence. "Well, if you need anything, don't be afraid to ask." I opened my wings.
"Wait!" I paused. "I did a bad thing."
I relaxed. "Discord." I said gently. "It's okay. We all forgave you."
"Why!?!" he shouted. "I'm Evil! That's all I'll ever be."
I rubbed my lower beak. "You and I both know that isn't true. You care about your friends you just need to work on the loyalty thing. Chaos is Change. You can change, we all can. All you need is to start to help fix the damage you caused."
He opened the door a crack. I looked into the red and yellow eye and smiled. "I led him right to you."
"He would've found me sooner or later." i held out a hand for him to shake. "Friends?"
He thought about it for a few moments. "Friends." he held out his paw and we shook on it. he sighed. "I'm sending far too much time with Twilight, all this friend ship stuff is terrible for my reputation." I laughed.
My wings flared. Fire traveled through the feathers and erupted out of the ends. Fire and Earth. I've done both, but what else can I do? I let the Flames die and tried to think of any other types of magic Gyphons possessed. I reared up on my hind legs. Gryphon magic is most easily channeled through the wings. I thought of creating a gust of wind. I brought my wings forward and touched the tips together. A burst of magic exploded from the tips and threw up dust.
"Cool!" I yelped and swung around. An orange Pegasus filly grinned at me. "Can you teach me how to do that? Please, Please, Please!?!" I was assaulted by adorable puppy dog eyes. They're impossible to resist.
"Uhh... I... sure!" What the buck?!? How did she do that? she started bouncing excitedly. "But," she stopped mid bounce and tumbled to the ground. I giggled."You have to keep it a secret."
"Aww," She thought about it for a few moments. "Wait one Second." She zoomed off. She returned a few second later with two more Fillies trailing behind her. One was a pale yellow Earth pony with a red mane and the other was a white unicorn with a pink and purple mane. "Can you teach them stuff too?"
I thought about it. "Sure. Earth and Fire magic Respectively. Just don't practice them indoors. It'll cause massive amounts of property damage."
They smiled at each other. "CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS: MAGIC USERS!!!!! YAY!!!" I was forced back a few feet by the force of their voices.
"One quick question," I shook my head. "What are you guys doing in the Everfree?"
The Earth Pony Filly blushed. "We thought we could be Cutie Mark Crusaders: Timberwolf hunters."
I chuckled. "What are your names?"
The filly smiled. "I'm Applebloom, that's Scootaloo, and she's Sweetiebelle."
"And we're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" They announced proudly. I smiled at them. Might as well humor them.
I planted a seed in front of the Earth pony. "I want you to focus on the seed. It's a Daffodil. Think about it growing and blooming. Imagine the blanket of Earth over it. Imagine it fighting it's way up and the leaves drinking up the sun. Focus that image on the seed. Will it to become the Thing it's meant to be." Applebloom's forehead scrunched up in concentration.
I pulled out a torch and rammed into the ground. "Alright Sweetiebelle, your turn. First I want you to look inside yourself. Examine every inch of your body, your magic is sown into your self. I want you to call on it, not much, just a bit. Focus it through your horn and send it into the torch. Think of the bright flames that eat away the darkness. Tell the flames to come to you and to send away the dark."
I looked back at Applebloom. Right in front of her a short stem started to work it's way through the ground. i smiled and look at Scootaloo. "Your magic is a bit like Sweetiebelle's. But instead of a horn focus the magic through your wings. And instead of fire imagine the wind."
"I did it!" I turned to see Applebloom bouncing in circles around the newly blossomed Daffodil. I laughed and stopped her with a wing. "Did you see me? I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. Then I did!" I placed a feather over her moth the silence her.
"You've only scratched the surface of what your magic can do." She pouted. "I was just as impatient when I was your age. but you seem to be a fast learner, you'll master it quickly."
It took several more hours for Sweetiebelle to light the torch. Scootaloo managed to make a feint breeze with her wings and Applebloom grew two more flowers. "It's getting late." I crouched down. "I should take you home." they all groaned in protest. "I''m sorry but you have to rest. Tomorrow you can try again."
"Alright."
They climbed onto my back and held on. I rose up over the city and hovered there. "Where to?"
"Sweet Apple Acres." Scootaloo said. She was the only one of the three that wasn't clinging for dear life. I smiled and flew close to the ground. I zoomed up the dirt path and slowed once I reached the house. Applebloom and Sweetiebelle jumped off and started kissing the ground. Scootaloo rolled her eyes at them. "Foals. She wasn't even flying that high."
"I'll see you tomorrow kids." I opened my wings and took off.
My legs swayed back and forth. They were strange limbs but were fairly easy to master. my claws were rounded now and the talons were dull. so far I've managed to remain hidden. It wouldn't last, soon I'd be caught. I looked at my reflection in the water. it rippled and shimmered naturally. This world was different from home. things seemed to happen on their own. the rain came, leaves fell clouds floated aimlessly. The looked like it was moving on it's own but I couldn't be sure.
I saw a man appear behind me. I looked up to see a tall creature wearing gray suit of some kind. he peered down at me the corners of his lips turned down in a frown. "What are you doing here, missy?"
I just stared at him. mainly the bushy patch of fur on his face. He held out a claw. "Come along. we should get you back to your parents."
"My parents aren't Here."
"Where are they then?"
I looked around and felt a connection with the world that I hadn't felt since I arrived. It was scarred and in pain. "Someplace better."
"Breath in. Relax. Let the the coils of magic unfurl." My muscles went slack and my wings stretched out next to me. I opened them to their largest size. "Now, show me what you've learned." Father demanded.
I blasted the nearest ponikin with a ball of flame. Slamming a claw on the earth, I forced the seeds beneath the earth to grow, the plants curled around the ponikins and crushed them. I felf a slight headache that came from forcing magic but shrugged it off. In a fight against Ponies you couldn't slow down, if you did they would crush you with their superior magic. I slashed my wings in front me and rushed forward. He probably wouldn't recognize the use of Air magic as it was a forgotten art. I spun on my forelegs and kicked the head off of a ponikin. I Shot out a claw that was consumed in fire and rammed it into the chest of the final ponikin.
I looked at my father, hoping for a look of appoval. My muscles were burning in protest from the amount of magic I'd exerted but I managed to stay on my feet. He nodded at the carnage before him. "Not Bad." he walked forward calmly. "You missed one" he pointed to an unharmed ponikin.
I gulped. Silvertongue warned me not to over exert myself. If I did it could cause a Surge. I zipped over and tore the head off. He nodded and left without saying another word to me. I felt tears well up in my eyes.
My eyes looked up at the night sky and scanned the constellations. "Breath in. Breath out. Relax. Relax." My mind pulled me away from the waking world burying me in hidden memories.
I batted the ball back and forth with my claws. Silver-tongue strolled in with a smile. "Wisdom! How are you feeling today?"
I shrug. "Okay, I guess." He frowned. He never liked vague answers like that. I sigh and look up at him. "Why do I have to learn to kill things with magic?"
He seemed shocked by my question. "We'll," he looked around."Uhh..."
I frown. of course he wouldn't tell me. He'd probably lie and say that it's for my own safety like father did. Ponies were raised peacefully, some only knowing simply levitation. At least, that's what my book told me. "Forget it."
Silvertongue Noted my disappointed look and tapped his chin. "How about I show you a secret?"
I grinned and nodded rapidly. He scooped my up with a wing and deposited me on his back. "Hold on!"
I opened my eyes again and snapped open my wings. Breath in, breath out. Relax, Relax. Fire trickled down my wings and wind swirled around my talons. I took a deep breath and allowed myself to be pulled down into my hidden memories yet again.
I buzzed around the room plucking books off of the shelves. A library filled with all our Magical knowledge. it wasn't big but there was plenty room for a fully grown Gryphon to spread their wings. Silvertongue lounged in a corner reading a book with a skull on the cover. I peaked over the edge. "Wasstat!?!"
He slammed the book shut and narrowed his eyes at me. "Not for children." he hissed. I shrank back, there was no reason to push him. He was allowed his secrets. He wrapped a wing around me. "I'm sorry. Let's see what you have there."
He took a book from my claws and opened it up. "'The Practical applications of Water Magic to Every day life'?" He gave me a curious look. "It's a bit advanced for you."
"Please please please?" I clamped my claws together. he laughed and opened the book. "Yes!" I curled up next to him and prepared myself for a new lesson.
I lowered my wings and relesed the winds. The fire fizzed out and the only light came from the full moon. i yawned and turned to go back inside. The room was mostly unfurnished but it had a bed and a mirror. It was small but cosy and had a balcony. I crawled into my bed and let myself fall asleep.
"Gurrrk!" The tape measure of doom tightened around my abdomen and I prayed silently for assistance. "Help." I choked out.
"My goodness! Your wings are simply exquisite! the way the tips flare out ever so slightly, the light shading of gold around the edges." Rarity gasped. "I-de-a!" She ran off to grab some cloth.
"Oh, sweet Celestia, no!" I whisper. I walk in asking for Saddle bags and the next thing I know, I'm trapped by a unicorn obsessed with fashion... and the tape measure of doom. The tape measure wraps around my neck, snugly this time. "Umm... what does this have to do with my saddle?"
She blushed. "Oh, my." the tape measure unwinds itself. "I'm terribly sorry, I tend to get carried away at times." the scissors slice through the cloth with ease and the needle weaves through swiftly. Within minutes the thick gray cloth is transformed into a saddle bag. "Here you go, Darling."
"Thanks." I look at the bag. "How much do I owe you?"
She laughs. "Free of charge." i open my beak to argue but close it again seeing the determined look on her face. She sets the bag on my back as I turn to leave. "Come back soon!" She calls as I leave." I turn and wave back.
"So let me get this straight," Twilight rubbed the sides of her head with her hooves. "You were going to leave to a quite possibly very hostile land with nothing but a saddle to escort an entire library of rare, one-of-a-kind books that Nopony has seen before back to Equestria all alone."
I tap my beak. "When you put it like that..."
"You didn't think I'd want to come." She pouted.
I shrugged my wings. "I figured you had more important things to do."
She tapped her chin. "True but I know someone who doesn't." I braced myself. "DISCORD!!!!" she shouted in a volume that could cause mountains to crumble.
He appeared with a fairly panicked expression. "I swear I had nothing to do with it, I've never even been to the moon!" I clamped a claw over my beak to keep from laughing. Twilight facehoofed. "You can't prove anything!" He waved his arms(Forelegs?) in front of him.
"Discord, I need you to help Wisdom with a very important mission." she narrowed her eyes at him. "Can I trust you?"
He snapped into a salute, suddenly wearing a military uniform. "Aye aye, Princess."
"Great! Let's get going!" I snap open my wings and speed off before Discord had any time to catch up.
I tucked in one wing and allowed myself a spiraling plummet before snapping my wings open to level out before hitting the ground. I wasn't sure if I could pull any moves like that without staining myself. I banked right towards a mountain. Touching down, I relaxed my wings. I set down my saddle bags and pulled out the map.
It was a World Map of Equis. It wasn't very large, only six of seven countries clustered close together with everything around it labeled dangerous or unknown. A world left completely undiscovered due to a few cowardly individuals. Suddenly I was filled with the overwhelming urge to fill in those blank spots, to travel and see the whole world, brave any ocean and see every forest. I wanted to lead expiditions and establish colonies.
I shook my head. One thing at a time. I placed a talon on Equestria and trailed down to the Gryphon Kingdoms. The details were shoddy, and only three cities were shown but it at least had the mountain range I needed to get to. It ran from the East border diagonally to the south west edge. Content with knowing the direction I had to continue in for the next few days, I rolled up my map and lifted the flap to my saddle bags.
Three Fillies stared back at me. "Hi." Applebloom said timidly.
I blinked in surprise. "What are you doing in my bags?"
Scootaloo rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "Well, you see..."
"We wanted to see you do more of those tricks you were teaching us!" Sweetie Belle squeaked. The other two nudged her sharply.
"Sooo... you snuck into my bags and hid in there while I pulled off dangerous tricks completely unaware of my cargo." Three heads bobbed in unison. "I can totally respect that, Hoof/claw bump."
The three grinned and complied. "Does this mean you aren't mad?"
I laugh. "Oh no, I'm pretty mad. That was really dangerous. What it my bags weren't secured properly, or I was attacked? What if I decided to send you back right now?" Their ears fell. They were just way too cute. I sighed heavily. "I'll let you come along..." They grinned happily and hugged my forelegs. "On one condition. You three need to help pack up the books once we get to the temple."
They grinned. "Cutie Mark Crusaders: Adventurers."
I chuckled to myself. "Well, is going to be fun."
About three hours into my break, Discord managed to catch up. I chuckled as he nearly passed out. "You need to work out more, using your magic for everything can't be healthy. That, combined with all the sugar you eat it wouldn't surprise me if you started gaining weight."
He stood up taller and placed a paw over his chest. "I'll have you know I'm as fit as a Young Stallion."
The CMC giggled. "Which For your Age is pretty darn good." Applebloom said.
"Where did they Come from!?!" He pointed at the CMC who were enjoying some sunflowers I grew from the seeds on my bag.
I Stuff some seeds in my mouth. "Something about Cutie Marks." I look up at the sky and watch the sun slowly sink below the Horizon. One that holds endless potential. I shake my head to clear the daze. "We should get some rest, We'll be going a lot further tomorrow. Especially you Discord. I don't think you've ever flown so far for so long before."
He waved it away. "I'll be fine. Just need to refuel." He magicked up some cotton candy.
I swiftly knock the Sweet out of his paw with a wing and glare at him. "My Mission, my rules. No sweets." He opens his mouth to argue. "Besides... Flutters worries about you. You're an Omnivore and you aren't getting nearly enough protein. Eat this." I stuff a small bag into his paw.
I turn to see the girls splitting the cotton candy between themselves. "What did I just say?" They unleashed the full power of the Puppy dog eyes on me. I clung to my resolve for as long as I could. Which really wasn't that long. "Gah! Fine." Discord High Hoof-ed the three fillies. "Just this once."
I watch the four converse happily over cotton candy and chocolate milk. The Girls telling Discord about all their exploits and Him offering gossip about the Princesses. I laugh with them but offer nothing about the Conversation. I build a small fire-pit for us to crowd around. I lay my wings over AppleBloom and Scoots. SweetieBelle curled herself up between my forelegs. Discord stretched out on the other-side.
I nuzzle the sleeping Fillies. "Wow, I never took you for the Motherly type." I glare at him. He looked away innocently (It was a horrible attempt, there's nothing innocent about him.) "Just an observation."
I sighed. "I did some reading on Gryphons, before the library was blown up. They're normally communally raised. I wasn't, I was sheltered and trained to... Anyway, these three, their sisters, Twi, Flutters, you. Their my Flock, I have a bond with them that won't be broken easily. I protect the Children of the Flock it's hardwired into my DNA. I care for them as though they were mine, I won't let anything hurt them and If anything threatens the Flock ever again," I growl and restrain the fire that itches to get out. "I will crush them."
Discord nods in agreement. "I know how you feel. the Overpowering sense of Loyalty, the Protectiveness, the caring." he chuckled Darkly. "I feel the same about Fluttershy." I nod. It was fairly obvious. When we told him about the Incident, he nearly Flipped his lid. the only thing that stopped him from going on a rampage was Flutters telling him what i was prepared to do. Which honestly wasn't much different from what he was going to do... With less cotton candy.
"It's called Love. I love My Flock like family. You love Fluttershy like something far greater."
He smiled, not his normal goofy grin, a genuine look of contentment, like the one he had when Fluttershy was around. "I guess you're Right about that."
I watch him as he wraps his mind around the concept of love. "You should sleep Discord. We have a Mission to complete." I tuck my head over my wings and let the darkness take me.
I soared over the clouds, the sunlight casting a shadow. The two fillies on my back gazed down in wonder at the size of the world beneath them. i notice a flash out of the corner of my eye and turn to them. "You okay back there?"
"Are you kidding?!?" Scoots threw her forelegs up in the air. "This amazing! No Pegasus I know can fly this high up!" She grins sheepishly. "You... uh... don't think you could teach me?"
Pride wells up in my chest and I smiled. "I'd be honored."
"Look! Sweetie Belle and Discord are falling behind!" I looked past Scoots and Applebloom and see that they were at least a mile behind. I bank right and fly towards them. "What's wrong?"
"He's probably just used to teleporting everywhere." I Slow down and fly beside him. "You Okay, Discord?"
He laughs. "Never better!" He wheezed.
I scowl. he was in worse shape than I thought. "We're going to take a break and eat some lunch. You should Take a break too." I feel Applebloom cling tighter to my fur a split second before I dive.
I bank left and circle the ledge. The minute my talons touched the ground Scoots jumped off my back and stretched. "When can we start? Can you teach me some tricks? Or maybe how to fly against the air currents?" She starts bouncing in a circle around me in excitment.
I laugh and stop her with a claw. "Slow down there. Applebloom, Why don't you start setting up camp?" I turn back to Scoots. "We should start with the basics." I open my wings and Angle them. "First, Never be too confident, a good Flyer knows their limits..."
The Flight Instructor smiled happily at me even as I collapsed on the ground. "You're doing Great! You're still flapping way too fast, you're exhausting too much Energy. Try again."
I open my tiny wings and took a deep breath. Three years of practice and training has lead to this moment. I start flapping, slow and steady. I grin, Extra dessert was so close, I could practically taste it. I bring my wings down as hard as I could. I felt myself rocket up towards the ceiling. My grin widens and I angle my wings forward. "I'm doing it!" I'm so excited I forget to flap. I whoop and notice I'm falling.
The flight instructor catches and hugs me and laughs. "Try to remember to flap your wings, Sometime."
I demonstrate for Scootaloo the proper way to take off. When she tries it she falls flat on her face. I help her up and point out where she went wrong. While laughing my Flank off too. "Don't Worry Scoots, You'll get the hang of it. It took me three Years to learn." I laugh at her Horrified expression. "Don't worry, you'll probably do it a lot quicker. You're parents did start teaching you right?"
"Umm, no. They can't, My Dad has to run the store and my mom is an Earth Pony." I frown. No matter how busy someone is they should always make time to help their children succeed. "Rainbow Dash promised to teach me once she gets the time."
I frown and place a Wing over her protectively. "Let's break for lunch." I lead her toward Camp and smile down at her. "Why didn't you ask me sooner? I never have anything better to do." I eye her wings, they were a bit small for her age, probably just from misuse. Something catches my eye. "Hey Scoots?"
"Yeah?"
"Have you ever wanted to see the world? Blaze a trail, see just how big this world is?" She nods. "Look at your flank." I manage, barely able to contain my excitement for the Filly.
Her eyes widen in shock. "What, How!?!"
I scoop her up and hug her. "I knew you were destined for greatness! I'm so proud of you!" I fly towards the camp and halt sharply. I grin at the Two fillies warring over the last sunflower while Discord slowly inched to take it. "Great news Every pony! Scoots got her Cutie Mark." The Girls stared wide-eyed as I point out the Mark on Scootaloo's flank. It was a map halfway-filled in by a quill with a jar of ink sitting next to it on the filled side. Discord munches on the flower, completely un-amused about the event. "Discord?"
"Huh?"
"This is a very important Moment in a young Fillies life."
"So?"
"Be Excited." I deadpan.
He sighs and looks at Scootaloo. "Here." He Snaps his Fingers and a bunch books on Geography and survival. "When we get back we'll give you a proper cutecinera." He yawns and relaxes in his imaginary hammock. I face-claw.
The next day I fly at the same speed as Discord. If only to let the girls Talk about Scoots' Cutie Mark. "This is so cool!"
"I always thought you were the bravest of all of us Scoots."
I toned them out and watch the ground. We were passing over the mountain range and I was certain we'd find the Temple in a few hours. I was nervous about the temple, I could only remember a few details and most of them involved the fact that it was a remnant of some Ancient Gryphon Religion. Silvertounge was very interested in a certain Goddess, What's-her-name. He said there were prophecies about her return. Most of them involved destroying the world and building it anew.
"Hello? Equis to Wisdom?"
"Huh? Wha?" I crane my neck to look around.
Scoots points at my wings. "What are you doing? You're not flapping."
I look at my wings. "Sustained air gust, It let's me glide without losing altitude."
Her eyes widened. "That is sooo... Awesome!" She grinned. "Can you teach me that?"
"Of course, I'm no Rainbow Dash but once I'm done teaching you you'll be pulling Tricks off like you were born flying." I return my gaze to the ground below us. I noticed what looked like a wall protruding from the peak of the nearest mountain. "Hold on!" I power a Magic Gust into my wings and tear off towards the mountain. Discord attempts to keep up. I summon a gust to speed him up and turn to him. "The girls and I will go ahead and start packing everything up."
I disappear around the other side of the mountain before he has a chance to Argue. I slow to let my Passengers get a good look. The building itself was crumbling and pillars hold up nothing. It was obvious that the builders had put a lot of work into it. The pillars sport worn away designs and glyphs from a dead language. There were thread bare tapestries that hold four symbol set in a circle. It was old but held a certain mysterious beauty to it, sort of like 'I've been here for centuries before you existed and I'll be here long after you're gone'.
"Whoa!" Scoots says.
"Well I'll be," Applebloom gasps.
I Smile at them. "Welcome, To the Temple of Truth."
The minute I touched down the two fillies tore off ahead of me shouting something about being back in a bit. I laughed and stretched out my wings. They were sore from the constant strain from the past few days, I couldn't wait to get back to Twilight's Castle and soak my wings... and the rest of me.
I trotted forward following the path to the library instinctively. I opened the door and gasped. The books were sprawled out across the floor haphazardly and papers(Not torn from the books, thankfully) were pinned up all over the walls. There were several books left on the shelves. My eyes took in the chaos of the room, it was like someone had been looking for something. "Twi would have a Fit." I giggled as I thought about Twi seeing the books in such a state. Somepony would probably find themselves in the middle of the Everfree. Or a cactus.
I start to pick up books and set them in piles depending on their topics, some were fire magic, others were Air magic. I find myself making six piles, just from the ones on the floor. I notice a History book on the shelf and look around at my work. "What the hay!" I pluck the book off the shelf and curl up on a pillow laying in the corner.
"Wisdom?" I felt something prod me in the side. I grunt in response. "Wisdom." The pony says it louder this time.
"Five more minutes." I pull the book closer to my chest and curl tighter into a ball, my tail falling across my beak. Maybe if I don't breathe they'll go away.
"WAKE UP!!!!!!" I jump up several feet into the air and yelp. I thankfully land on the pillow, which explodes on contact making stuffing fly everywhere. I glare at Discord, who rolls around on the floor laughing hysterically. "Oh... Hehe... that was perfect... ha!.. I needed that."
"You're a plot-hole." I grumble. I stretched out and felt my bones crackle.
"Haha, Oh the Girls found something they want to show you." he slithers out of the room, still chuckling. I find it odd he isn't using his magic to float around. I shrug it off and follow him. We round a corner and I see the Girls standing in front of a massive Mosaic.
"Okay girls, what do you have to show me?"
The girls grin and they each take different places across the wall. they set their hooves against the tile and push. Click, a loud creaking sound fills the room and he ground rumbles as the Mosaic splits in two and opens inward. I Crane my neck to look inside. "Can we Explore?"
"Can you?" I stare down the dark hole. notice the girls start to grow anxious from my silence. "Of course you can! This is so cool!" I squee. "You found this all on your own?"
"Discord found it first, we just found out how to open it." I look over at Discord, who looks quite proud of his accomplishment.
I laid my wing tip on an unlit torch inside the passage way. I pick up the now lit torch and start to walk forward. "Come on." I race forward, excited to see more of the temple. "First one to find an ancient Artifact get's a prize!" the Girls and I squeal and giggle as we examine the passageway for traps or secret compartments. Discord trots behind us quietly, not caring where he stepped or if there was a prize.
I trip and yelp in pain. I look at the palm of my talon and see a thorn. "Ouch." iiclamp my beak down on it and give it a good hard yank. Healing magic sparks across my palm and the cut disappears. I look around.
A massive mural spans the entire wall. I stand at what I feel is the beginning. I pick up the torch and hold it up to the wall. I see three Gryphons. One hovers in the sky with their eyes closed, the second flies across the sky leaving a blazing trail behind them. the last walks across the earth leaving plants and mountains in her wake. I see rivers and valleys appear at the wave of her claw and I see Animals flock to her as she walks.
In the Next panel I see the first Two Gryphons granting Ponies wings and horns. The Third gives Earth ponies their strength and connection to Equis. Then I see the ponies turn on them. The unicorns enchant chains to capture them, the Pegasi subdue them, and the Earth ponies tether them to Equis. The Unicorns take the Duty of Raising and Lowering the Celestial bodies. The Pegasi take over the Weather which once acted on it's own.
I keep going and see the two oldest Gryphons grant their power to two Alicorn Fillies. But the Third was consumed by hatred and instead of Giving her power to a third Alicorn she kills her and gives her power to the Gryphons who live in the mountain the Gods were trapped in.. Then the two Fillies defeat Discord and take back the job of ushering in Day and Night with the help of the Gryphon Mages. I then see a Prophecy written in a language that seems foreign and familiar at the same time.
"Quando i tre vivono in armonia e il regno suore in pace, la Dea del Mondo verrà liberata dal Bambino con le ali dorate come il Sole, ma un cappotto nero come la notte. Prosper risorgerà e usurpatori soffrirà. Maggio il ritorno selvaggio e inaugurare l'era del Bounty." I whisper under my breath. When the Three live in harmony and the Sisters reign in peace, the Goddess of the World will be freed by the Child with Golden wings like the Sun but a coat as black as night. Prosper shall rise and usurpers will suffer. May the Wild return and usher in the Era of Bounty. I gulp.
The CMC run up to me with smiles. "We found something!"
"It looks like a rusty knife." Sweetie held it out in her magic. I take it from her and examine it. "What do we get?"
I plaster a fake smile across my beak. "You get to relax while Discord and I do all the work."
We get all the books and papers down in a circle. the Girls lay on top, fast asleep. I look at Discord. "Do you think it's true?"
"Pfft, as if. Don't take all that Prophecy stuff seriously. The Future is unpredictable and Chaotic, you never know what's going to happen next. that pat about the coat colors is just preposterous. Now lets get home." he snaps his Finger and we reappear in Twilight's new Library. She sits in the corner engrossed in her book. "How's my favorite princess doing?"
She yelps and repeats the same action I did earlier that day. I can't help but giggle this time around. She Gives Discord a Death glare. "Really? Don't you know it's rude to teleport into someone's house?"
"Hmm?" He lays back in his imaginary hammock. "Sorry, I wasn't listening."
I frown. That's It. Flutters and I have to give this guy an Intervention. "Here are the books, all intact."
She squeed in delight and started shelving them immediately. "Oh, Wisdom. The girls came by and Rarity spruced up your room a bit. You're probably exhausted from you're journey, I'll take care of this." I Grinned and tore out of the library headed for my room.
I was glad to be home. It was a place to be with your family, forget about the rest of the world, and just relax. Home is the nest, the flock, the heart. I may travel the world but I will always pine for my home.
