Luna gingerly walked along the path of glowing orbs. She could sense from the field of energy around her that she was dreaming, but what kind of dream was it going to be? Did somepony need her help, or was she going to see something else. She hoped that there was nopony having nightmares tonight. Someponys had the most horrific fears she had ever seen! Suddenly an open door appeared before her, the inside giving off a blinding glow. As she saw her body and the dreamscape around her becoming inverted, she knew what kind of dream this was. She was going to see a vision of the future. Luna almost wished she was in someponys nightmare, if this vision was important enough to be shown to her it wasn't good. As Luna walked through the glowing door everything went black. And then faint, almost hollow graphic images started showing in front of her, along with a haunting voice echoing in her mind.
"On the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape and she will bring about night time eternal" A calender wavered in front of her face followed by a silhouette of a mare in the moon. Then the stars alignment weakening the bonds trapping her in there. Then the dream went black again,, to slowly reveal a much bolder image of a navy blue alicorn, laughing maniacly. Her mane flowed around her in an almost tornado like fashion, and bolts of lightning sparked around her. Her armour silver with a purple crest, her eyes turquoise slits. The echoing voice came back and whispered
"Nightmare moon will return"

Luna sat up in her bed. The warm night breeze was blowing through her window making her curtains flutter. They were loud and startling in the silent night. She just sat for a moment, trying to recall everything that had occurred during the dream. It was a warning. Somepony, who would one day be banished to the moon, will use the stars alignment on that very day, to bring about everlasting night. Quickly Luna jumped out of bed and teared down the corridor to her sisters room. As she hurtled past one of the guards, he stopped as and asked with concern on his voice
"Is everything ok your majesty?"
Luna didn't answer, too caught up in her task. As she reached her sisters room, Luna pulled open the ornate doors that guarded her sisters quarters. When she entered the room, Luna saw that her sister was in deep sleep. She decided to wake Celestia by going into her dream. As she closed her eyes and let her mind float away, Luna did the equivalent of shaking her sister awake through her dream. As Luna came out of her trance she saw her sister's eyes flutter open. When celestia saw the concerned look on Luna's face she immediately shot out of bed

"What is wrong dear sister?" Celestia asked
"we have had a warning through our dream, and it fortells a grave situation"
"Not so loud Luna we are not addressing our subjects so we do not need the royal canterlot voice" Celestia winced "Now tell me what this dream of yours showed"
Luna explained her dream to Celestia. The images, the haunting voice, and that mare. The two sisters tried to decide what to do about it.
"This...prophecy it will come true sister, we must find a way to prevent this mare of darkness from achieving her goal" Luna warned her voice rushed with urgency.
"How are we going to prepare, it could be anypony that I trap in the moon at any point in time." Celestia pointed out
"No, thy mare with the dark navy coat, flowing blue mane and armour shall be the one you banish" Luna shouted shivering at the thought of the turquoise slit eyes.
The housekeeping lady jumped when she heard Luna's booming voice. Quilt stich had been so proud when she took over her mothers role of looking after the castle, but Luna's sudden outbursts and deafening voice took some getting used to. After she had recovered from her shock she went on her way dusting the window sills.
"Then we must record this prophecy, so we never forget, if this is as grave as you say it is sister, then we must act as soon as the signs show, and so must our subjects" Celestia said her calming tones soothing Luna's anxiety
"where shall we record it? We must make sure it is something that wont get lost in time"
"I think I know the place" Celestia produced a jewel encrusted book from her shelf, the book was leather bound with the image of a horses head on the cover. Luna nodded reaching out with her magic and grabbing a quill.

The Mare In The Moon
On the longest day of the thousandth year
The stars will aid in her escape
And she will bring about night time eternal
Celestia noded "Now go to bed you have to lower the moon later"
"we shall sleep soundly now" said Luna as she slowly walked out of the room and went back to her own bed, closing the door behind her, the aura of her magic reflecting of the diamond patterns. The stars in the sky shined brightly in the sea of inky blackness, and the moon sent a channel of light into Luna's room. She laid her head against the pillow, her mind at rest. The moon could often do that. It was so calming and beautiful, such a shame that everypony slept through the night...
As Luna drifted back into her palace of the night, she wondered what pony's fate she had predicted.
Little did Luna know that she had just predicted her fate.
