> Dear Doodle Bug, I regretfully inform you that... > by Bambisbb > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > In which there is feels > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The wind outside was howling fiercely as the rain pounded on the roof and windows of the house. It chilled the entire house with a fierce wind, barley bothering the pony inside. Inside the house, is was nearly cold enough to see your own breath. Ponies Creed 3 was paused on the TV, as the fire slowly died down, crackling as it burned up. The house was silent, except for the occasional desperate whine from a confused, and lonely Pegasus. A whine only those who are frightened and sad could ever manage. The pony who whined was usually so happy and bouncy, but not today. Doodle Bug stared at the crisp white letter on the table. It was clearly sent just days before, with a black ribbon tied around it. Everypony knew what black ribbon meant. She didn't know who it was from. She didn't want to know. She didn't even want to open it. Her mind was going through everypony it could be. Her dad, her mom, her sister, her brother, her friends...Then, her mind came to settle on one friend she hadn't heard from in so long... Ink Berry. Her eyes widened and she placed a hoof on the letter. "Inky..." She whispered, pulling the black ribbon off with a small tug. She opened the letter carefully, tears already starting to fill up her eyes. She unfolded the letter and swallowed. Dear Doodle Bug of Ponyville, I regretfully inform you that Ink Berry is no longer alive. Several months ago, she was evolved in a hit and run outside of her home, and has spent the last few months in the hospital. We have no exact date on her death, and we are truly sorry to send you this only now. Sincerely, Ink Berrys' brother Doodle Bug stared at the letter. Ink had been her friend for a year or two now. They met due to their love of writing, and stayed in contact for weeks before they became friends. Ink was always there for Doodle Bug, even when she didn't need to be. If Doodle Bug seemed sad, Ink would try to make her feel better, and if she was bored, they would create little characters together. Doodle Bug told Ink Berry everything, from what she liked to why her mother irritated her sometimes, and Ink always listened and made her laugh. Ink couldn't have...Have died. Surely not... Ink her Hidden Blade. Something she could always count on. She was her best friend... Her Chocolate Chip Cookies with Gummy Bears and Sprinkles. Her Raspberry Unicorn. Doodle Bug stared at the letter for a few minutes before sliding off the chair carefully. She walked to the living room with her head held high. She picked up a peice of paper and a pen. She walked back to the table and sat down, silently as she began to write. Dear Inkys' brother, I hope your joking. Your joking, right? Inky can't die... She's my best-friend, my Berry, she can't leave me, she never would. I don't know if I should believe you or not, I got a letter like this before. Because you decided you didn't like me and tried to get me to stop talking to your sister. This isn't funny, you know, Ink is just about the only friend I have that still cares. Sincerely, Doodle Bug She set the pen down with a shaky hoof, staring at the letter. Everything would be fine. Maybe Ink just forgot her address and her brother decided to mess with Doodle Bug. Maybe.... Just maybe.... Anything was possible.... Knock knock knock Doodle Bug looked up from the table. "Hey, uh, Doodle Bug?" "Come in." Doodle Bug whispered. Rainbow Dash appeared in the doorway. "Hey, uh, have you seen- Hey, you okay?" Rainbow Dash walked over to the snow white Pegasus, putting a hoof on her shoulder. "Yea...Yea Dash, I'm fine. Just got some bad news." "How bad of some news? Accident, divorce, wedding...?" Dash trailed off and Doodle Bug looked at her. "Wedding? Why would that be bad news..." "Oh you know, old crush gets married to some snobby chick?" Doodle Bug giggled, "You watch too many movies...But, no, it wasn't a wedding...It's going to be a funeral though." Rainbow Dash's face went dark, as her comforting smile turned into a frown. "Oh...Who is it?" "Just a friend...It's fine..." "Just a friend? There's no such thing. I couldn't imagine losing one of my friends..." Doodle Bug smiled, "Yea...It's fine though. I loved her though, and I have god memories of her, that's all that matters..." "Memories are important, like, if one of my friend were to...Were to...You know...I would be real sad, but at least I would have the memories..." Doodle Bug nodded, "Yea..Thanks Rainbow Dash..." "Eh, call me Dashie." Doodle Bug chuckled before her bottom lip started quivering. She put her head on the table, face-down as she let out a loud whine. "You need to cry? I can get Flutters over here and..." "No no no...It's fine. I think I'm just gonna watch a movie...Drink some tea..." Doodle Bug whispered with sadness tugging at her voice. "No your not, you need a friend, and I'm gonna be that friend." Rainbow Dash sat down next to the depressed Pegasus and wrapped a cyan wing around her, pulling her into a tight hug. Doodle Bug sniffled and gave the hug a few seconds before hugging back. "Thanks Dashie..." "No problem." ~ ~ ~ ~ "...Can I still get Flutters to make some tea?"
