> Done by Dashie > by Lightning Fire > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: The Bet > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Cloudsdale, there was a Summer Cloud for the Wonderbolts. Lightning Fire was a Wonderbolt at this time. There was the rallies and the stunts, but after a while, He got bored of it. So he spent a majority of his free time napping. Lightning Fire, woke up from his nap one midsummer afternoon. He was bored, even though all of his buddies were just messing around outside, content with the game they were currently in. He got up, put his Wonderbolt uniform on, and flew outside calling out, "Guys, I have an idea! Could you get over here?" About 10 seconds later, all of the Wonderbolts were floating or standing in front of him. "I had a great idea for a little bet between me and all of you." They all got close and wanted to find out what bet he was talking about. As he explained the idea for this bet that he had thought of during his nap, some of the Wonderbolts added or changed terms, while others left the bet, indifferent with the idea of this contest. When he finished with his thoughts, a scroll was used to record all of the terms, the signatures, and the money. Lightning Fire knew he had a big chance to win, mostly because he had planned ahead and made a secret hiding spot, tucked away in the Everfree Forest. All he needed was to pack the things he had bought the other day, which included a tent, a sleeping bag, food and clothes for the week. The Bet was officially created, and began. The Terms were: Lightning Fire has a day to find somewhere in Equestria to hide, and last for a week, while not being seen by anypony and be in the open for that week. If found, Lightning Fire must return to Canterlot, and follow the Rewards section. More Terms include: No Bribery on either side, no magic used to hide or find, and no cheating by illegal means. Rewards for Lightning Fire if he wins: 5,000 bits, A week massage spa, and favors from all the Wonderbolts who signed the Bet. Rewards for the Pony who finds Lightning Fire: 5,000 bits, a Wonderbolt for a day pass, and being with the Wonderbolts for a month. Rewards for the Wonderbolts include: 200 bits a pony, and a Favor for each pony from Lightning Fire, at any time, place, within legal reason. So far 4 of the Wonderbolts had signed it, and a lawyer and 2 witnesses were there to legalize it. Lightning was eager to begin this contest, mostly because of his lack of fun. He hoped and dreamed that he could do this more often, not caring if he lost, but he was sure no one would notice the speck on the map where he marked out a little valley covered by trees. He also knew that everypony feared the forest, even though the tree of harmony kept the forest clear of evil, except for the occasional Timberwolf. That being said, he was virtually prepared for anything... Except a certain rainbow-haired pegasus would change that thought entirely. > Chapter 2: The Begining > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the day went on, The Wonderbolts hired ponies to make posters, and spread the word, and by the time 6:00 P.M. came around, the Wonderbolts were ready for tomorrow. Lightning Fire was prepared by getting a saddle and attaching the sleeping bag, food bag, and tent to the sides and top. The Wonderbolts slept peacefully, believing that this was just another game with better rewards. Lightning on the other hand, slept in rough patches, having the dream of rainbows everywhere, still not understanding what it could mean. As Celestia raised the sun up for the next day, Lightning Fire flew off, leaving behind a blaze of fire on the clouds. All the Wonderbolts flew out 15 minutes later put up the posters at every town, all over the land of Equestria, telling everypony about the contest which had begun. By lunch, almost all of the ponies in Equestria knew what the contest was, and had ideas about where they planned to look, or in the case of the weak or the lazy, how long Lightning would last. Ponies also thought that the contest wouldn't be interesting enough, so they decided to bet on who would win. Most of the bets were made by 3, and money was put in boxes, ready for the winner. In Ponyville, Mayor Made held a meeting, saying that a better reward would be given to the pony who told her where to find the Wonderbolt. Rainbow Dash happened to be at the meeting, and upon hearing the word "Wonderbolt" had flew off to Twilight's place. Once she got there, she barged in, calling out Twilight's name. When Twilight heard Rainbow's yelling, she teleported over, and asked about what was so important she had to come in and disturb her studying. Rainbow told her all about the contest, and Twilight said the probability of the Wonderbolt winning was close to 5%, unless he his somewhere that nopony would want to look. Rainbow thought on this, and immediately came up with the idea to check the Everfree Forest. Rainbow said goodbye to Twilight and flew off again, to her home to sleep on it, and plan her route. Lightning had his stuff set up by the time Luna raised the moon. He had flown over a group of trees, and realized no one would notice his tent from above, so he went down to drop his stuff. He found a river nearby to keep him clean, and a nice area for his little lamp to keep things warm. As he fell asleep after finishing his little camp, he had a peaceful dream, where he was back at Cloudsdale, happy for some reason, and confused for another. He thought on this as he slept, hoping the answer would be revealed soon. > Chapter 3: The Accident > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 days went by, and nothing happened. No one found Lightning Fire, and nopony knew where else he could be. Some ponies believed this was a setup to get fans, but others had a better idea that he was hiding in an area most ponies wouldn't dare go into, and started a new meeting. They all wondered about Rainbow Dash, who was just going about her routine, and didn't say anything when asked about the contest. They were suspicious, but they didn't know what else to ask, so they left her alone. Rainbow was just lying around without a care in the world. As she saw the sun go down, she decided to visit Lightning's camp again, mostly to make sure she could win the contest whenever she wanted. Rainbow quickly flew down from her house, and went straight into the Everfree Forest. As she was flying over, she thought about how to catch him, and the loads of bragging she would do in front of Applejack, who was still checking every last tree for the Black Wonderbolt. When she almost made it to the spot where Lightning Fire was camping, she noticed something. It looked almost exactly the same as when she stumbled upon it on Monday. There was the tent and the lamp in that enclosed area of trees, even though the lamp's battery was quickly dying as the moon rose into view, but there was a wet and muddy suit beside the lamp. She look all over the campsite, careful not to touch the ground. After a minute of searching she noticed a small set of footprints leading East, and figured Lightning was taking a swim in the nearby river. Rainbow decided to watch him come back to the campsite, and settled on a tree above the tent to sleep. As Lightning Fire was trotting back to his little base, he started hearing this very disturbing noise, so he ran over to his food bag, got a snack, ate it, and quickly hid in his tent to decide on what to do, so he closed the tent fast. He didn't want that sound to continue, but when he zipped the tent up, the noise that caused him utter confusion stopped. He decided to stay awake, in fear of being found. But as the night wore on, he fell into a deep sleep, tired from trying to learn how to swim on his back. He didn't dream much that night, but he did see a silhouette of a mare flying towards him. 2 days later, Rainbow couldn't stand to wait anymore. She wanted to finally answer the question she had always asked herself when she was tired: what would it be like to sleep with a Wonderbolt? Now she had her thoughts about the Wonderbolts, and decided to answer this curious question. Once she got to the tent, she decided to answer it the clean and easy way. She snuck into the tent, looked at the sleeping pegasus, and thought of another, deeper question she wanted to answer. She then decided to have fun while he was asleep. She slipped into his sleeping bag, and proceeded to make out with him. He was in a deep sleep at the time, so he was still unconscious even when she took off his suit and got in close to him. But she grew tired, and by dawn she was asleep right beside him. > Chapter 4: The Realization > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the morning, Lightning Fire woke up with sore wings, but he had no clue why. The second thing he noticed was that his vision was full of rainbows. After he blinked his eyes two or three times, he just realized it wasn't a real rainbow in his face, but a mare's mane. He thought for a moment, thinking about what happened the afternoon before. The noise he had heard her! He felt his sore wings, thinking about what she did to him... Oh the horrors indeed. Rainbow Dash had woken up, and she was smiling at him, like she had done nothing wrong. She didn't really think it was bad for the Wonderbolt to know her, but he was a shy pony when it came to close quarters. As she got up, she stretched and leaned in whispering, "Found you." He blinked once, then understood what she had just said. He glanced at his wings, felt the pain, and rolled over to the side of the tent. He realized that he might have made a mistake for rolling away, but he had no clue about talking to mares. He talked to the female wonderbolts, but they were just friends who worked together, unlike the mare in his tent. She was a lover, which he really didn't know about. He was just thinking when she started talking again. She yawned, and spoke out loud, "It was fun, mostly because you still have a bit of drool on your face." He felt his lips, and noticed the saliva all over. He quickly swallowed, pulling most of the liquid down his throat. He also rubbed his face with his hoof to wipe the rest off. After that, he just glanced around, trying not to look her in the eyes. He was never good with small talk, so he just closed his eyes and started massaging his left wing to make him feel better. She went over to where he had rolled over, which was near the entrance of the tent, sat down, and wrapped a wing over him, which pulled him closer to her. She looked into his eyes, leaned in, and then started laughing. Lightning didn't get the joke, because he was still scared and sore, so he just went back to massaging his right wing after finishing with his left. She poked him, this time serious. He looked at her and remembered that he was in a bet, so he basically had to do what she said til he had completed all of the terms. She asked," I was wondering if you wanted to go to Sugarcube Corner, because I have a friend there and all who makes the best sweets ever." Lightning knew he signed the bet, and he knew the penalties of breaking the rules, so he looked at her and smiled. He then replied with," Sure, and as long as I don't have to fly that far, mostly because my wings feel like they have been erect for the past eight hours." He racked his brain, trying to remember the Big Ponies, and thought of Princess Sparkle, who had five best friends... There were two Pegasi, one was called Fluttershy, but this made didn't look shy at all. The other Pegasus was one of the fastest and the best at doing stunts such as the Sonic Rainboom... Rainbows... He just figured out he had been in a sleeping bag with Rainbow Dash, the most well known Pegasus second to the Wonderbolts! He knew that he was going to have the time of his life if he was with Rainbow. So he blinked, and realized he hadn't said a word for two minutes, had his tongue sticking out, and his brow was all wrinkled as if he were planning to make a cloud appear out of nothing. She laughed, and poked him again. All he did was say in his most enthusiastic voice," Sure!" > Chapter 5: The Party > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As it was turning noon, Lightning was almost done with packing his stuff. When he was done with that, Rainbow and he flew over to Ponyville, and to their surprise, there was a party already started at Sugarcube Corner. When they entered, the two Pegasi noticed Pinkie Pie was in deep conversation with Applejack, while Rarity and Fluttershy drank some cider. Twilight was sitting near the entrance, and smiled when Rainbow and Lightning entered. They both were wondering why Pinkie threw a party today, and saw a banner above the counter in the shop, which said in bold lettering: Congratulations Rainbow Dash! Rainbow flew over to Pinkie to inquire about the party while Twilight took Lightning's hoof over to where Rarity and Fluttershy were drinking. He noticed that Rainbow Dash kept glancing back at him, with a look in her eyes. When Lightning tried a drink, he felt all weak in his stomach, remembering the last time he had been drinking with his friends. After she finished, Rainbow went over to them and said, "I hope you like the party." She looked at Twilight, then asked,"Twilight, how long do you think Pinkie has known this was going to happen?" Twilight looked over at Pinkie, who was questioning AJ at an almost impossible rate of speed, but AJ kept nodding or shaking her mane to keep Pinkie in the mode, and said, "I think Pinkie has and will know everything, Rainbow, so maybe let's just hope she doesn't say what happens next." Rainbow nodded in agreement. As the party went on, Lightning tried to dance, then he just sat down and sang along, and after his throat started to dry up, he drank a lot of cider, which only AJ knew if there was alcohol in it . When most of the day was over, everypony was tired, except for Rainbow and Lightning. They all thanked Pinkie and than left to return home. Right at that moment, she took his hoof, and pulled, making him follow. He went along with it, partially drunk, and the rest of him was bored. She flapped her wings, and they flew to her house. Lightning had some doubtful thoughts, including the "what was going to happen" thought, so he made sure to be polite. Right they walked in, Rainbow asked," So do you want to do it again, except you can be awake this time?" > Chapter 6: The Happy Ending > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lightning wasn't expecting that of all the questions. He was going to say no, but he was curious, partly because he wondered why Rainbow Dash, of all Pegasi, liked him in the first place. So he went with a straight up yes. After a couple of hours, which was mostly comprised of Rainbow and Lightning asking each other about their lives, and of course, sex, Rainbow decided that they should go to Canterlot. Lightning hesitantly agreed, and by the time they got there, Luna was raising the moon. As they soared towards Canterlot, they noticed that a group of ponies were gathering near the Wonderbolts' part of the castle. As they got closer to the ground, they noticed that some signs were being held, and the ponies were yelling. In bold lettering, the signs stated that the Wonderbolts were lazy by making the contest, mean for lying about it, gamblers for risking such a price, and should have just stuck with what they did best, which was flying shows. The crowd was raging, but when some of them noticed that Rainbow and Lightning were hovering above, they realized that the contest was won and done, so no more protesting was needed. Seconds after the silence, the crowd started stomping their hooves or whistling, and the Wonderbolts snuck out of their barricaded trainging cloud to see the reason for applause. When they noticed the 2 Pegasi, they were confused at first. Then the Wonderbolts all burst out laughter, mostly because Lightning almost won, and that Rainbow Dash, of all the mares in Equestria, had found him. As they finished their animosity, they flew over and all started asking the big 3 questions: where was he hiding, how long did it take, and when was she going to cash in the prizes. Rainbow Dash casually answered all of them that she was going to use the “Stay with the Wonderbolts” starting tomorrow, “the Wonderbolt for a Day” whenever they were ready to perform, and that the bits were going to be used for a little plan that she had in mind. The Wonderbolts then got all over Lightning, asking where the money was, and he replied so simply, "Inside, duh." After the debts were payed and the moon rose to complete the darkness, the Wonderbolts asked Rainbow to stay at the small neighborhood where they all lived, free of charge, and she accepted with a lot of enthusiasm. She inquired if she could bunk with Lightning, and so they pestered him to stop playing that stupid flying game and answer her question. Lightning was confused, because he hadn't been paying any attention to the conversation between them, but when he asked what the question was, all he got for a response was, "SAY YES!" Lightning didn't get it, so when he did, Rainbow was rolling around in laughter to how gullible he was, and Lightning realized 2 seconds later what he accepted to. He felt happy knowing he was going to be bunked with Rainbow, and planned on making some arrangements to properly ask her out... > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is if you want to know how the dream ended, or if you feel like this was incomplete. In the afternoon, Rainbow Dash looked back to 17 years ago, when she had fallen in love with a Pegasus named Lightning Fire. As she recalled the details, her son went over to her and asked, "What are you doing, Mom?" She looked at him and smiled. She then asked, "Do you know how I met your father?" He glanced inside, where his Dad was making lunch for them. He remembered how his father used to be a Wonderbolt, and he was allowed to go back any time he wanted. He asked, "I have heard rumors, but I haven't heard the story." Rainbow sighed, and moved to a more comfortable sitting position, and began,"Well, it all started back when I was about your age, and there was a contest posted on one of Town Hall's wood post..." Rainbow Dash lived a happy life with her husband, son, and the daughter they had afterwards. Later, when their fillies had grown up completely, Lightning and Rainbow retired. Their kids decided to join the Weather Patrol, mostly because they thought it was the coolest job ever.
