The return of the mad Emperor
Prologue
The great doors to the two sisters' throne room were slammed open and a royal guard came running in, completely out of breath. The two sisters looked somewhat confused and wondered why the guard had just burst in without asking for permission, even though he knew they were having a meeting of high class ponies. After a short rest the guard regained his composure and told the sister that Sombra had somehow returned and taken control of the Crystal Empire. Luna became confused about the fact that Sombra shouldn’t have returned from the dead. Celestia didn't really believe the guard but asked about princess Cadence and Shining Armor. She was told they were safely on their way to Canterlot, which convinced Celestia that Sombra was indeed back.
The kidnapping
Luna sat in the room, having had a long and exhausting day and thought about how Sombra had returned. Them she suddenly heard a laugh she knew all too well. She ordered it to show itself and on a chair behind her Discord showed up from a bright flash.
“Oh my dear Princess, you called,” Discord said, only just to hold back his laughter.
“Why are you here Discord and what do you want?” Luna said annoyed.
“Why am I here?” he said, “Why am I here? I don't know Princess, maybe I just wanted to pay you a visit. Why would I want anything else?” he said with a grin.
“Don't take me for a fool like Sombra did one thousand years ago. I might have fallen for his tricks and lies once, but I'm not the same anymore. This time my people love me!” Luna snarled.
Discord looked at her with disappointment clear in his eyes.
“Well that is just great,” he said, “I guess I'll just lock you up then,” he continued, snapping his fingers. That made Luna's horn disappear!
“Guards!” Luna yelled and the two guards from outside her room came rushing in.
Discord looked at them and with a great force he threw them into the wall and ceiling and the two guards dropped dead. All Luna had time for, before he snapped his fingers to make both Luna and himself disappear, was to scream.
Celestia was on her way to her sister’s room, then she heard something that sounded like her sister screaming ”Noooo!”
Celestia began to run toward Luna's room but then she opened all she could see where her sisters room were the two dead guards and her sister’s crown in the middle. As Celestia slowly walked over to it, she saw out the corner of her eye something she hadn't seen in a thousand years, the helmet of Nightmare Moon and then she broke into tears, realizing that she again had failed to protect her own sister.
Talking about the past
Luna couldn't really tell where she was, but it looked like a throne room. She looked around in confusion. She didn't know where she was or how she had gotten here.
“Where am I Discord?” Luna yelled, “You’re going to pay for this!”
Discord sat on something that looked like a throne, so still he almost looked like a statue.
“No my dear Princess, I'm not going to pay for this, not this time,” Discord said coldly.
“You are in my castle from before you and your sister turned me into stone, do you like it?”
He didn't wait for her to answer and continued on as if he was lecturing a child. Listen, I have an offer which will grant you your freedom,” he continued, moving towards a window in the great hall.
Luna wondered why he would kidnap her and offer her a way to freedom right away.
“My freedom for what?” Luna asked.
Discord turned around with a smile that made her feel uncomfortable.
“That you take up your old armor, my dear princess Luna. Or should I say Nightmare Moon?” Discord laughed.
Luna was in shock.
“How do you know about Nightmare Moon!” she yelled in anger “How dare you ask me to become that- that monster!?”
Discord raised an eyebrow and said “Just because I'm trapped in stone doesn't mean I don't know what is happing around me, but after all I know what turned you evil... the nightmare demons”.
“You're lying, I know you are, you weren’t there when they showed up to corrupt me!”
“Why!?” Luna cried as she collapsed into tears.
“How many times do I have to tell you ponies that I'm the body of chaos for crying out loud?” a sliver of resignation coloring his voice.
“Just because my body was trapped doesn't mean my powers were. Why do you think accidents keep happing?”
Luna had stopped crying and now stood near a window, her eyes sweeping across an unknown landscape. She turned her head towards Discord.
“If I refuse your offer?” she asked.
“Then I have to lock you up” Discord replied.
Surprisingly neutral... Luna thought to herself.
Luna looked around and was thinking about her sister and how she would handle her absence.
“I can't agree to this Discord and you knew that from the beginning,” Luna said.
Discord began to laugh harder than she had ever seen him do before.
“Well my dear princess,” Discord said, “ You know the feeling of being imprisoned from your thousand years on the moon!” before Luna had the chance to say anything, Discord snapped his fingers and she was gone.
Celestia's comfort
Back in Canterlot Castle someone had called upon the six ponies that controlled the Elements of Harmony. Twilight Sparkle slowly walked into the great throne room of the Sun and the Moon. Twilight quickly saw that both thrones were empty and at the foot of them, Cadence and Shining Armor stood.
When Twilight came up to them Shining Armor said
“Thank Celestia you are here Twi, we have a lot of problems... Sombra is back and have retaken the Crystal Empire, but like that wasn't enough princess Luna has went missing. Celestia was on her way when she heard Luna scream no, but when Celestia reached Luna's room all she found was two dead guards and Luna's crown in the middle of the room.”
Twilight was in shock. “How did Sombra return and why were we not warned?” she asked, panic clear in her voice.
“What happened to Luna?”
Before Shining Armor had the chance to say anything, Cadence interrupted him and said “Sombra came out of nowhere with an army of corrupted crystal soldiers, we were lucky to get away, but Luna...”
Cadance paused for a while before she continued “We don... We don't really know anything more than that”.
Twilight asked for Celestia and Shining Armor told her that Celestia hadn't left her room since Luna had disappeared.
Just outside Twilight bumped into her friend and said she had to see the Princess at once. The five friends hardly had the chance to understand what was going on until Shining Armor called them in. Twilight knew her way around the castle she pretty much grew up in and quickly found the hall to Celestia's room. The halls were filled with guards and it was only because it was Twilight the guards let her past. She slowly opened the right side door and stuck her head inside to spot her teacher who sat with her back towards the door and just stared out the window.
“Princess?” Twilight asked weakly.
“Go away and leave me be while I think,” Celestia said roughly. Only after she said it did she realize it was her former student. “Oh I'm sorry Twilight, come on in, I didn't realize it was you”
The white alicorn sighed heavily while looking out the window “What should I do Twilight? I've failed Luna twice now and Sombra have somehow returned with an army.”
Twilight looked at Celestia's head and saw, for the first time, that she was crying silent tears.
“I- I don't know,” Twilight said sadly, “Normally it’s you telling me what to do.”
Celestia looked down at the purple pony that fought to hold back her tears, but Celestia nodded to Twilight, as a permission to cry. Celestia cleared her throat, “We have to save the Crystal Empire before we can look for Luna,” she sighed with tears in her eyes.
A mad joke
“Wake up Luna,” Discord commanded while staring at her with a rather odd look in his eyes. Luna opened her eyes and by the look she truly was in a prison cell, though it didn't look like a normal, dirty one. But it still had the dark look, like it was meant for her.
“What, Discord?” Luna said, still angry over Discords moon joke.
“I thought you said a prison cell, not a hotel room”.
Discord looked offended “Oh my dear Princess Luna, it is a prison cell but a royal one. Or maybe you would rather want a hole in the ground or a moist cave?” Discord said in only a way he could and laughed afterwards.
Luna shook her head and asked when she would get her horn back. Discord stopped his laughter and was now looking at the princess like she asked a question which she already knew the answer to.
“Hmm....” Discord mumbled, “I haven't really decided yet, but what about when I win?”
“I can't wait that long Discord! I need to raise and lower the moon, and it’s my duty like it’s your 'duty' to make chaos,” Luna said, hoping he would agree and give her back her horn.
Discord made a pink cloud and sat on it with a glass of chocolate milk.
“I do see your point here Luna and I might give you your powers back...” Luna interrupted with a quick thank you, but Discord continued.
“As I was about to say, before some pony interrupted me... If I catch you doing anything to call your friends here, I will not be nice,” Discord stated, giving Luna her horn but only enough power to control the moon and left through a door Luna hadn't seen appear in the left side wall.
The alliance
Sombra gazed out on his Crystal Empire from the balcony and made his lips wet, knowing that each crystal now belonged to him. As he came back to his throne room he saw someone or rather something sitting in his throne. His anger rose and he was ready to use his black magic to destroy whatever sat on his throne.
“Spare yourself Sombra, I'm here to tell you something, so you better listen carefully. I brought you back into this world and I can easily take you out of it again, but I have heard that your enemies of Equestria are gonna march on you very soon and you will fall without my help” Discord told the now less tense King Sombra.
Sombra stood there staring upon who had brought him back from the dead “I guess you want something from me,” he said slowly.
Discord shook his head and said “Whatever can you give me that I don't already have or can't summon?” in a tone that gave a small echo in the throne room.
Sombra paced back and forth mumbling to himself “When are they gonna attack?” he asked in an almost worried tone.
“Oh, I don't simply know” Discord said ironically “But I would say ready your defenses and armor up for them!” Sombra called upon a blighted crystal guard and ordered him to get the army ready for battle.
The meeting
Back at Canterlot, Shining Armor received news that all combat able stallions had been called in to reclaim the Crystal Empire. Twilight and her friends, besides Applejack and Fluttershy, had been staying at Canterlot Castle and everything was peaceful until the stallions from Ponyville came to be recruited into the army. Twilight sat in a meeting with Princess Celestia, Cadance, Shining Armor and some high ranked military stallions when a southern voice rang throughout the hallway leading to the room where the meeting took place.
“No hay, no way you are joining the army Big Mac, once I get my hooves in that general who thinks he is taking my big brother into war instead of taking care of the farm, I'll tell him it ain't gonna happen!” Applejack exclaimed.
Celestia rose from her seat and walked towards the door Applejack was just about to step through, when Applejack was just about to use big words when she saw that Celestia stood mere inches from her, she bowed and apologized that she was about to shout in Celestia's face.
“It’s okay my little pony,” Celestia said in her normal calm voice, “I fully understand that you won't let him go, but we have to send an army big enough to retake the Crystal Empire.”
Applejack understood what the princess was saying, but she was just too afraid that if Big Mac went she might lose him as she had lost her parents years ago and how would Granny Smith and Apple Bloom take it if Big Mac just disappeared and who would help bucking the apples, clearly Granny was old and Applebloom was to young.
”Fine,” Applejack said resignedly with tears in her eyes, “Just promise that he will come back”.
“I will see what I can do about that,” said an older stallion, “I know the feeling of losing someone you love.”
Applejack thanked the stallion, but even though the heavy metal doors was shut closed they could still hear Big Mac trying to calm down his sister who by now was crying.
“I'm sorry about this my gentlecolts,” Celestia said, but all the others at the meeting looked like they understood Applejack's feelings.
“It’s settled then, in one week Shining Armor will lead an assault on the Crystal Empire and liberate it from Sombra's evil curse.” She ended her sentence and gave a sign for Twilight to walk with her out of the room.
Long live the Emperor
Discord sat on a hill a bit away from the gates to the Crystal Empire and on the wasteland that was below him stood king Sombra's blighted crystal army, which was bound under Sombra's spell, and on the other side of the field the army from Equestria led by Shining Armor marched into position. Discord summoned a pink cotton candy cloud and drained it for chocolate milk, while telling him how wonderful chaos indeed was. Discord saw something that very well could have been Shining Armor walk forth and give Sombra demands on surrendering, but when that failed, Shining Armor quickly returned to his battle line.
Discord watched as the two lines clashed and saw how arrows flew into the ranks of both sides and heard the sounds of battle cries and clashing metal. Discord had his attention towards King Sombra and Shining Armor which both had chosen to be near the front and Discord could see the moment their eyes meet. Shining Armor ordered a few guards to follow him into the attack on Sombra himself, the guards who were the first near Sombra didn't stand a chance and quickly fell.
“No!” Shining Armor yelled as he saw some of his best friends die to a tyrant, Sombra began to laugh as he realized it was friends of one of Equestria's best military leaders and without hesitation Sombra launched himself at Shining Armor and knocked him over. Confused about what just happened Shining Armor looked up and saw Sombra draw close wielding a sword with his dark magic, but before Sombra had the chance to strike down Shining Armor, something made Sombra's magic disappear and Sombra fell weak to the ground.
Discord came out of from the heavy battle around them dressed in full body armor. As Discord was walking over to the weakened Sombra, Shining Armor was getting helped back on his hooves by a big red stallion Shining Armor knew was Applejack's brother “Thank you, Big MacIntosh,” he said still a bit shocked over how easily Sombra had knocked him over. Discord now stood over Sombra and with a snap. A sword popped out of thin air while Sombra, with fear in his eyes, made eye contact with Discords insane evil eyes. Discord said: “Long live the Emperor,” softly, but yet high enough for Shining Armor, Big Mac and everypony else within five meters radius around them to hear, before impaling Sombra.
As Sombra lay there, impaled by Discord's sword, he tried to mumble something which was lost in his throat as it got filled with blood. Sombra's blighted army quickly realized what had happened and retreated further into the Crystal Empire to set up a new defense.
In a blink of an eye Discord was gone again, but in the distance Shining Armor could still see the rear of the blighted army and he watched it flee over the hill and he was unable to see them any longer. Shining Armors attention was drawn to a captain as he cleared his throat to make himself known and asked for a moment.
Shining Armor nodded and the captain said that Sombra's blighted army had been stronger than expected and Equestria's army had suffered way heavier losses than they had expected.
Dark magic
Luna sat in her cell as Discord entered the dungeon she sat in. Discord just stood there like he was about to do something bad.
“What are you up Discord?” Luna asked still trying to make sense of it all.
“Isn't it clear Luna? Well today is your lucky day my, oh so dear princess, we are gonna move to a new castle, one you already know from a long time ago,” Discord said with a grin, almost laughing to himself.
Luna was now pacing back and forth in her cell trying to figure out what castle he meant and by a snap of his fingers they left his old castle and appeared in the new one. Luna watched the wall and was thinking where she had seen these walls before. She knew it was a long time ago and had it on the tip of her tongue.
Luna turned around to see where Discord went and saw him sitting in a mighty throne dressed in something royal. “Welcome to my new and reformed Crystal Empire!” Discord announced, “And you are my first guest from Equestria!” he finished.
Luna now stood shocked, shocked over the fact that Discord now only had somehow defeated Sombra, but that he had taken over the empire afterwards.
“What have you done Discord?!” Luna yelled in the royal Canterlot voice with a look of hatreds in her eyes.
“What I have done? Well let's see,” Discord paused while stroked his chin before continuing, “Founded a Chaos Empire, been stoned twice, spawned every evil creature,“ Discord kept naming things, “Oh I almost forgot the latest, I killed Sombra, after returning him from death, and took over his empire and his horn filled with dark powers” he laughed madly.
Luna stared at Discord knowing how strong he was and what he was able to do now. Deep inside she began to fear for Equestria's fate. She easily recalled last time he was controlling Equestria and how horrible it was back then. She turned to see out the window and saw that Discord already had turned the Crystal Empire upside down, but not the normal jolly chaotic way it had been compared to this dark Everfree forest look that told anyone on the outside to stay away. She could see how the forest expanded into the distance swallowing everything in its path while growing bigger and more ferocious. Luna remembered the Everfree forest near Celestia and her own old castle and how mysterious it could be sometimes, not to mention the things that had realm in there. Luna turned around to look at Discord who had stopped laughing.
“Well, well what do we have here,” Discord said while removing a sheet from something that was shaped like a mirror “Let's have a look, shall we?” he offered it to Luna.
“Is it one of your tricks?” Luna asked with a raised eyebrow.
“One of mine, oh now my dear princess I have no idea what you are talking about just because I do some chaos now and then doesn't mean I only do chaos. But I'll look into it first and if something happens to me, you don't have to okay?” Discord said with a odd tone in his voice.
Luna doubting, nodded slowly and Discord stared into the mirror claiming he only saw himself and for what Luna could see he was right. So she fulfilled her part of the deal. As she turned around to stand right in front of the mirror, she saw that she was in Canterlot castles throne room.
“Hello? Anypony there?” Luna asked unknowing what she was about to see. As she walked over to the nearest window to have a look into the castle garden she heard somepony say that Luna finally was gone and how much better it was.
“Why are you back sister,” Celestia asked while walking in the hallway, “What do you want? Wait let me guess, your title of 'princess of the night'? Well dear sister it is not going to happen, we knew it was only a question about time before you failed them and failed me!” Celestia stated with a cold and dead tone towards her sister.
“I, I don't understand,” Luna cried, “Discord has me imprisoned and has taken over the Crystal empi...”
“Leave!” Celestia cut her off, “Just leave now and never come back. You have always just been in the way, making up lies for your own good. I didn't banish you to the Moon because I had to but because I wanted you out of my life,” She finished as she turned around and walked towards the door from which she had entered.
Luna backed up and bumped into Discord who had a grin on his lips and while Luna still was in tears he said loudly, like Luna wasn't around: “Maybe I should have said that it shows ponies their worst fear that is going to happen.”
“What do you mean? Worst fear that is going to happen?” Luna stared at Discord with mistrust.
“Oh why yes my dear princess, do you now see that your sister isn't the lovely big sister that you thought she was, I mean she clearly doesn't even bother to look for you. If she did, I would have thought that she would have been here by now,” Discord proclaimed.
“I only wanted you to see the truth, but I was seen as the bad guy,” he continued with his hypnotizing stare into Luna's eyes.
Luna shook her head and looked at Discord and then around the room, “Why would she do this?” she asked in a sad tone, Discord began to laugh, “What is it that is so funny?” she cried.
“Well nothing, but my plan is working,” Discord said while narrowing his eyes with a mad triumphant glance in them, though he saw Luna didn't listen and she was to busy crying.
Corruption of Fluttershy
The night sky over the Everfree forest near the village of Ponyville had begun to glow, but no pony could locate where the glow came from even though everypony agreed that it couldn't be good.
It didn't take long for them to get lookouts to tell if something bad was on its way towards Ponyville.
Fluttershy fed her animals as always at their dinner time and as soon as she had put the package of nuts away, she heard a young animal scream not that far away. The little yellow Pegasus rushed outside to locate the scared thing and as she looked around she saw a trail of pink fur. She thought it was a bit weird that due to she couldn't recall any small creature with pink fur.
As she followed the trail trying to figure out what creature it was, she heard another scream and saw the small creature and went into the Everfree forest.
As Fluttershy had followed the trail for some time she came to an opening and in the middle of it all a pink creature was laying without movement. As the yellow pony slowly, and cautious of her surrounding, drew close to the creature it began to float and Fluttershy uttered a loud shriek.
The pink creature slightly turned its head looking towards Fluttershy who now lay shaking on the ground pleading to not get hurt. The floating creature dropped to ground dead and while Fluttershy was crying in fear, Discord appear while looking at the yellow pony who still hadn't looked at him.
Discord cleared his throat.
“Oh my dear, dear Slutterfly I'm so sor...” Fluttershy timidly corrected her name, “Yeah right, doesn't matter my dear, I'm here because I need your help right now” Discord continued.
“My help? Now?” Fluttershy said confused and scared, after all she wasn't very fond of the Everfree forest.
“Well why yes, my dear you see, I have this small problem only you can help me with,” Discord said while he had his head turned upside down in front of Fluttershy. "You see I want a kind of pet which can fetch me my morning paper, but I don't want it to be a dog or a cat, I can't stand those fur balls,” he said as he mumbled the last part, so Fluttershy couldn't hear it.
“Okay,” the little shy pony whispered in fear of the Draconequus who just stared at her.
Discord began to twist himself around Fluttershy who now had panic in her eyes. He stopped right beside her head, like he just had a thought; he turned his head to the yellow pony and sighed.
“Why do I even try do it this way?” he asked himself, teleporting into midair in front of her, “You are to kind and boy it annoys me a lot,” turned the poor pony into her opposite self and walked away in irritation over her kindness, “Arrivederci!” Discord shouted.
Celestia's nightmare
Celestia stared out of the big glass window she had in her room. She wasn't sure, but she just knew something was wrong. There was a knock on the door and Celestia asked whoever it was and when she found out it was Shining Armor, she bid him enter.
“I see you are back from the Crystal empire,” Celestia said with some joy in her voice.
“Now tell me, did it go as planned?” she quickly asked, but Shining Armor shook his head.
“Well then, tell me what happened,” Celestia ordered.
Shining Armor began to tell how he had given Sombra the chance to surrender, but chose to battle instead and how the battle in some way had begun to turn against them until he arrived. Celestia wanted to know who 'he' was.
“Discord, your highness,” Shining Armor said unsure how the princess would react.
“He slew Sombra, but I'm more worried now that Discord said 'long live the emperor'.”
Celestia stood there, shocked as she began to see that Sombra only was a piece in a great puzzle.
“You must warn the kingdom, Shining Armor. Go! And fast!” She told Shining Armor, who saluted her and left the room. Celestia turned towards the window once more and said to herself, “Who knows what he is cable of doing. Luna where are you, I need you. I miss you dear sister.”
Celestia heard the doors to her room creak open, but when she asked who it was no one answered. She turned around and saw that the two doors stood wide open but no one was there nor had she heard anypony leave the hallway. She slowly began to walk down the hallway, she began to ask herself, where were all the guards and why was it so dark? Celestia kept going on looking around while hearing a cry for help, she were unable to locate. Celestia recognized the hallways, it was Luna's and her old castle and she still recalled how bad it had it been and knew it had fallen apart over the years. As Celestia looked around to find the source of the cries of need, she stumbled upon a lot of old memories. On her way out of the old dusty library she saw something near one of the doors. It was a mushroom with a note by its side and then Celestia read it, all it said was 'Princess is in another castle'. Celestia looked a bit confused on the note and as she couldn't see the meaning of the note she walked back towards the great hallway. Celestia had now walked around for some good thirty minutes and now she could hear what the repeatedly cry for help said, 'Sister, please help me, I'm scared'. 'Luna' Celestia whispered and began to ran towards the direction her sisters cry for help came from. Celestia was more than happy that she knew every corner of their old castle and quickly found her way towards the throne room. When Celestia came to the throne room she saw that Luna lay on the broken balcony which was placed between the two old thrones of the sun and the moon.
“Luna!” Celestia cried with tears in her ears from pure joy to see her sister again and went up to her, “What happened to you dear sister?”
Luna looked up on Celestia who now had put her wings around her ”Oh sister Discord is back and he is holding me locked up inside Nightmare Moon, I'm only here because its the only place I know where to be safe,” Luna cried “ But even worse he has taken over the Crystal Empire and declared himself as 'Emperor Discord'” Luna finished.
Celestia heard a sound that sounded like something was knocking on a locked window. She asked Luna if she was hearing it as well but Luna apparently didn't hear her. The knocking sounds became louder and Celestia looked around to see where they came from.
“Tia, why do you hate me so much, am I really that bad of a sister?” Luna asked in weird tone.
“What, no I love you Luna and you know that,” Celestia said as Luna pushed herself away.
“Lies. It's all lies with you, you have hated me since the day you found out that you had to share the power between the sun and the moon and of course you chose the sun as you knew, our ponies would be out during the day and sleep throughout the night,” Luna said with a mocking tone “But now its time for a long waited rebellion to replace you!” she laughed and before Celestia's eyes Luna began turning into Nightmare Moon as something dark and tar looking stuff stuck to her. Her eyes turning green, her night sky blue coat being hid under the dark tar. Celestia couldn't hold back her tears and screamed hers sisters name as she heard Luna's voice pleading for help, drowning in the laughter of Nightmare Moon. Underneath Nightmare Moon's laughter Celestia thought she heard cackling that sounded like Discord.
Celestia woke with a shock as her door slammed open and ten guards ran in with Shining Armor in the front. Shining Armor and the guards looked around the room and Celestia got out of her bed.
“Easy now captain Armor,” Celestia addressed Shining Armor “It was only a bad dream,” Celestia closed the door herself, sighed and mumbled to herself: “At least I hope it was” as she went back into her bed looking out on the moon.
Side by side
On her way home from the mail office Rainbow Dash, saw the mail mare Derpy, who said 'hi' as she flew by to get the mail out. Rainbow wondered about how she got her job as mail mare back and before she knew it Rainbow was already home. Just as she was about to unlock the door, Rainbow saw marks around the keyhole and when she softly pushed the door it swung right open. Rainbow slowly went in and saw that her home was just fine exceott the kitchen which had been ransacked. She went around seeing if the intruder had stayed around when she heard the shower was on.
“I got you now!” Rainbow said with a triumphant voice but got a shock as Discord stuck his head out from behind the curtain.
“Oh hello Rainbow Dash, I didn't think you would be home this early” Discord claimed as he put a towel around himself. “But I must say, I really like the view from your house and I'm really sorry for the kitchen, it’s been such a long tim...” Rainbow cut him off asking why he had broken into her home. Discord took his right hand and placed it on the chin and looked like he was trying to remember something.
“Well?” Rainbow asked in a angry and mistrustful voice.
“I know, I was supposed to warn you but I can't rememb... oh yes now I remember, it was to warn you about those disharmony demons!” Discord pointed behind Rainbow Dash and when she turned to was Discord pointed at. Rainbow saw something that looked like shadows disappear as soon as she looked towards it, Discord's laugher began to grow faint and when she looked around the room to spot him, she saw the shadowy creature who attacked her through the door. She managed to fight them back enough to take off and flew outside wondering what that was all about but Rainbow didn't have much time to think as the creatures followed her.
She asked herself who was the best and quickest to fly to and the first to pop up in her mind was Applejack. Rainbow flew towards Sweet Apple Acres, but she began to get a bit worried due to darkness had begun to fall upon Equestria. Outside the Apple family's barn Applejack came out and got a little shocked over Rainbow Dash's sudden visit.
“Howdy there Rainbow, what can I do you for?” Applejack asked after the shock had worn off.
Rainbow quickly scanned the apple fields before pulling Applejack back into the barn.
“What in tarnation?” Applejack said in a high voice and breathed heavily, “What is wrong with ya Rainbow?” Applejack asked as soon as her lungs had been refilled with air.
“Something... Bad is after me, Applejack, and Discord broke into my house” Rainbow Dash started out and then told Applejack the whole story until she had landed at the barn.
“Why didn't ya go to Twilight then, don't ya think she knows what to do? Applejack asked in tone which made Rainbow feel stupid. ”It’s okay sugarcube, I'm mighty glad that ya came here, those shadows things are gonna meet 'Bucky McGillycuddy' and 'Kicks McGee' here” Applejack showed off her back legs.
Rainbow giggled and looked out the barn windows “You know AJ you're right, they won't come here as long you're he..” Rainbow froze “Th, th, they're here” she originated.
“They?” Applejack asked and went over to Rainbow and looked through the same window and saw lots of eyes out in the dark looking back onto Rainbow and Applejack while moving closer. “I can't tell what they're gonna do but I'll fight with ya!” Applejack said while adjusting her hat while nodding to Rainbow Dash who nodded back.
Applejack and Rainbow backed up as they heard and saw the disharmony demons trying to enter and ran around the barn to find a weak spot. Applejack and Rainbow couldn't keep an eye on every window and the barn door, and as both turned their head after checking the windows they heard and watch the door crack, splinter and then it got knocked wide open and the disharmony demons swarmed in like a great tide and overran them quickly. The two ponies fought with all their strength but in the end they got overpowered.
Discord's plan
From her prison cell Luna sat almost colorless and could see how the borders of Discord's so called 'Discordant Crystal Empire' grew slowly but safely for each hour that passed. Discord entered the cell with a flash and smiled to Luna which made her feel uncomfortable just a bit more than the rest about the newer Discord.
“What?” Luna asked in a tone that made it sound like Discord was a noble stallion asking for tax readjustment for the thousandth time.
Discord walked towards the bookshelf he had given her so she had something to do “Oh nothing big,” he replied, “not yet. You see my dear Luna, I always thought that you and I could work together but I was clearly mistaken. You see there is a reason why I've allied myself with Saddle Arabia.” he finished.
“What do you mean?”, Luna looked towards Discord, “What are you gonna do?” she asked worried.
Discord pulled out a map over Equesatria and pointed out a few cities and said with a crazy voice “In each of these cities a rebellion will raise up against your beloved sister, but not just any rebellion, all those who joins, will fight for 'Queen Luna and the Moon Empire', well not a rebellion just enough to get Celestia's attention away from Canterlot.”
“Don't you dare touch her, she may not love me but I still hold my sister dear!” Luna said as tears rolled from her eyes, still believing in Discord lie.
Fall of Celestia
Princess Celestia, Cadance and Shining Armor were talking in throne room and as they spoke about the six wielders of the Elements of Harmony. Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie and Rarity entered the room.
“Thank you for coming,” Celestia said in a low voice “Are your other friends on their way?” she asked before turning her heard towards Cadance and Shining Armor.
“That's the problem princess; we don't know where they are.” Twilight said as Pinkie and Rarity nodded in agreement. “They were gone when we tried to find them and no one had seen them” Twilight said while looking at Cadance who had begun growing worried for the safety of Equesatria.
A guard came running in and knelt before Celestia and said “Your Highness, news from western Equesatria, rebellion have started claiming they fight for 'Queen Luna and the Moon Empire'” the guard quickly told the princess.
“Do we know who comes with these claims?” Celestia asked in a tone that none of the other five ponies ever had heard Celestia speak in before.
“Yes, they don't wanna hide and it's two Pegasuses called Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy and an Earth pony named Applejack,” the guard told Celestia while looking at the three friends knowing the relations between them.
“I see,” Celestia started, “Twilight you and you friends must go and find Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, while Candance and Shining Armor here go after Applejack, it's our only hope” Celestia stated as she looked around to see if everpony agreed.
All five ponies quickly left the throne room. Celestia went over to her throne and suddenly turned around and asked to have her armor brought to her and told every guard to leave. Even though they were unhappy about leaving the princess alone in such times, they trusted her action and left without question.
Shortly after three guards returned with her battle armor. Celestia now sat on her throne in the empty marble white throne room and waited. Celestia kept waiting in her golden armor as time went by, she knew who would come, but not where or when. After a great while she got up and began to walk around and wondering why he hadn't show up yet. She went over to the colorful large stained-glass windows and saw flashbacks from each scene she was in herself.
“Why hello there my lovely princess, going to war, are we?” a voice said out of nowhere.
“Discord” Celestia snarled “Show yourself, before I force you out here!” she roared.
“Oh really? You sound a tiny bit angry” Discord said with joy in his voice. “But I tell you what my dearest Celestia;” he said as he appeared in her throne “Your beloved sister asked me to say 'hello' but that is not why I'm here.” Discord now stated in serious voice.
“I swear if you have touched her, you are going to die!” Celestia used the royal we to make sure Discord heard it.
Discord teleported to Celestia and twisted himself around her and asked “Why so serious?” dressed up as a clown. “I would never hurt her before you and I had talked” Discord said as soon as he floated in front of Celestia's face, which grew with fury.
Celestia used her magic to swing her sword after Discord, who splitted his body in two and as the lower part was about to hit the marble floor his eagle claw hand grabbed it and teleported back to the throne. Discord while putting his lower part back on, looked unhappily at Celestia.
“Okay, not much for a chat I see, fine then I'll get down to business with you. I'm here to give you an ultimatum; you can save your sister and Twilight Sparkle and her friends and surrender to me or you can keep your title and throne and lose your entire kingdom.” Discord said in a mad way only he could say it.
“So this is your plan to take back Equesatria, by making me step down from my throne?” Celestia said while she put the sword back into its scabbard. “Twilight will become the next ruler of Equesatria the moment I'm gone.”
Discord looked at the white princess “Oh that purple annoying unicorn but that doesn't matter, surrender or she and your sister will not see the next dawn,” he said in a tone that made Celestia believe him for once.
“And as you have figured out it was I who started those rebellions and they will get out of hand if you keep sitting on your lovely throne” Discord said with a grin.
Celestia looked upon the stained-glass that showed how, she and Luna over a thousand years ago had captured Discord in stone.
“Do you promise they won't get hurt if I agree?” Celestia asked mostly worried for Luna and Twilight.
“I suppose I could, but I don't wanna hear about anything they get themselves into, is that clear Celestia?” Discord asked in an annoyed voice.
Celestia began to pace around the room, wondering if she should give up herself to save her kingdom or be selfish and rule with an iron hoof and go to war with Discord. Discord still sat in Celestia's throne and enjoyed a fine glass of chocolate milk.
Celestia turned to look at Discord “Fine Discord, you win. But only because I have to protect my subjects from you,” she said while taking of her armor.
Discord threw away his glass and the moment it hit the ground and shattered, the sound of the shattering glass echoed throughout all over Equesatria.
Discords face turned wicked before Celestia's eyes and as he rose from his seat, he pulled forth a weird looking scepter and pointed it at Celestia as she began to turn into stone.
Discord landed in front the now stone imprisoned Celestia who had a shocked look on her stone face. Discord bounced and shouted in joy as he after all these years had defeated his greatest enemy. Discord stopped and looked at his dear enemy and thought to himself something was missing. He placed a sign, said goodbye to his strongest enemy ,went out through the doors and when he opened the doors he saw a squad of royal guards coming his way. The moment the guards saw him they lowered their spears and told him to surrender, Discord looked at the leader of the squad and began cackling.
Luna's return
As the door to Luna's cell opened, she softly stepped outside, but she had a weird feeling that something was wrong, very wrong. Luna quickly found her way to a platform where she took off and flew towards Canterlot. Days went by as she had to go through the chaotic border from the Discordant Crystal Empire to the Kingdom of Equesatria and when she made it across the border she had to land because she had controlled her rage towards Discord. Luna looked around but only saw endless fields where all life had disappeared, so she began to walk south towards Canterlot. After some time she saw a town in the distance and her hope returned, there she could get some food and rest before heading for Canterlot. As Luna approached the town she saw more and more lights get lit and heard voices that it was Princess Luna. The townsponies welcomed their princess of the night and asked what she was doing so far away from Canterlot. All Luna said was that she needed food and rest before she would be able to return to Canterlot and give her sister some important news.
The next morning Luna thanked the townsponies for their help and promised that she would send money to pay for what they had given her, but they told her that as long it was to save Equesatria, money was the least important thing; Luna showed her respect and took off. After a long and tiring flight she finally reached Canterlot but saw that the whole capital had been emptied for civilians and the Equesatrian army had patrols on every corner. Luna approached the front gate and told them to open the gate for the princess of the night and as she walked inside Twilight sparkle,
Cadance and Shining Armor came to meet her.
“Thank the princess, that you are alright Princess Luna, we were so worried that you were gone for good” Twilight said as soon as she stood in front of the returned princess.
“Thank you Twilight Sparkle, I must speak with my sister at once” Luna said to the company that had met her.
The company stood there and looked at each other to figure out who was gonna tell Luna the bad news about her sister but in the end Shining Armor stepped forth.
“As Captain of the Royal Guard, I feel it is my duty to inform you that your sister has been turned to stone by Discord.” Shining Armor told the princess with the voice of a true captain.
“She was turned to stone in the throne room,” Shining Armor finished.
Luna stood there in shock over Discord had turned her dear sister Celestia into stone. Tears began to show and she began to run towards the throne room and as she burst in, the princess of the night collapsed into tears due to the fact that before her the statue of Celestia stood. Cadance, Shining Armor, Twilight and her friends, which they had met in the hallways came in and saw the weeping princess by the feet of her beloved sister.
“He will pay for this” Luna growled “He and his cursed chaos, all of them will pay!”
“But your Highness, we have to wait, Equesatria is divided, in chaos and we have to unite the kingdom before our next move.” Shining Armor said.
“How did this happen?” Luna rose and made eye contact with Shining Armor.
“I was on my way to watch the shift but when I came there the guards laid slain in the hallway,” Shining Armor replied as steady as he could “He can turn every one of us, he turned Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Applejack almost without lifting a finger.”
“Does it matter? We must ready ourselves to defend Equesatria and we must send word to the other nations to ask for help to defeat Discord.” Cadance said with a determined tone.
Birth of heroes
A while after Luna and Twilight Sparkle had become the rulers of Equesatria, diplomats came back. The ponies in Ponyland were willing to send an army to fight with their brothers and sisters, Unicornia had chosen to stay neutral, but had allowed volunteers to join, Saddle Arabia had refused to speak with them at all, as they had allied with Discord a long time ago and Eyriea, the Griffon nation, said that as long he didn't attack them, he wasn't their problem. It was in their time of need Luna really saw how big trouble they were in and the only way to have weaken Discord was to attack Saddle Arabia.
A year quickly passed but so did old friends and family and worse hit was the Applefamily as good old Granny Smith, after many long happy years and taking care of two generations, had passed away on a cold winter morning. The whole of Ponyville had been there and Luna as well, Applejack believed it was Discord, Big Mac just worked even harder than ever in the now gray apple fields and Apple Bloom who had been hit by a depression had left the 'Cutie Mark Crusaders'.
In the next summer Saddle Arabia had been raiding the southern boarders so bad that Luna and Twilight had to repel them. After a long and hard negotiations it was decided all six Elements and Spike the dragon would lead the small force to a fort which never had been taken before in battle, but that was soon to be regretted.
It had only been one day since they went into the zone of attacks. Twilight asked Rainbow if she could have look around, but Rainbow said she only saw sand and hills as far as she could see. The small force soon came to a canyon, displeased they slowly walked in knowing they were sitting ducks, stones here and there fell as they got further into it. Rainbow Dash and some Pegasi flew ahead to scout and when the worst thing they had all feared. Discord sat in a chair in the middle of canyon and laughed.
From every crack in the canyon Saddle Arabian ponies came forth and hit the small force hard. Twilight now found herself locked in deadly combat with a Saddle Arabian stallion the size of Big Macintosh. The stallion swung his blade, but was quickly overpowered by royal guards. Twilight yelled out her friends name but everypony looked the same in heat of battle, she somehow found Rarity and Pinkie Pie fighting side by side but she didn't know that Applejack, Fluttershy and Spike were having really big problems.
Applejack had found Fluttershy surrounded as she had collapsed on the ground begging not to be hurt, Applejack quickly used her back legs to fight off Fluttershy's attackers. Fluttershy got help drawing her sword and was mostly hiding behind Applejack. The more Applejack fought the more began to close in on her and in the end she and Fluttershy had been overpowered. As they laid there sure that it was the end for them both, they heard a deep voice yelling 'Nope!' and a big red stallion landed next to them and in a single kick he used his strong back legs to clear the Saddle Arabians.
“Go AJ, I got this” Big Macintosh said, as Applejack got up and helped Fluttershy.
Applejack refused as Big Macintosh called for backup and a dozen stallions ran in front of Big Mac so he could send his sister away to safety. There was a high rank stallion in the area was yelling that the area Applejack, Flutteshy and Big Mac were in had been lost and it truly was, as the yellow-brown walls were filled with Saddle Arabians.
“Go AJ, Apple Bloom will need you” Big Mac said in a voice Applejack couldn't disobey and with tear filled eyes she quickly withdrew alongside Fluttershy.
From afar Discord saw how a red stallion first saves and then protect two of the annoying ponies who had turned him into stone. Discord began to determinedly walk towards the red stallion that now defended the escape of Applejack and Fluttershy. Discord broke the necks and threw the stallions who tried to stop him and when he stood before the red stallion Discord began to speak.
“Well the hero of the day ain't we?” Discord asked in irritated voice “Saving those two annoying ponies from their death, well it doesn't matter; you see I'll just kill them later”
“I don't know who ya are or what ya are, but I do know that ya ain't touching my little sis' Applejack and her friend” the stallion said in steady and cold tone.
“Your sister?” Discord looked at the red stallion “I didn't know Applejack had a brother, let me guess 'Big Apple' is your name?” Discord now asked while he flew around the red stallion.
“Nope, I'm Big Mac, and I'm here to give you a big beating” Big MacIntosh told the Draconequus who started laughing.
“Well I'm sorry, but how can you think you can beat me?” Discord said with a raised eyebrow
“I'm sorry to break it to you, but I'm the body of Chaos for ponysake.” Discord lashed forward and with a quick strike from his lion paw, Discord knocked over Big MacIntosh. As Big Mac laid on the ground unsure of what happened, Discord used this chaos powers to lift up of the red stallion and threw him around like a toy until most of his bones had been broken or bent and in the end Discord got bored and cast him aside with a grin of madness.
Twilight realized that they had to retreat to Rearing Stones and when the soldiers around them heard the order to fall back, the little control there was disappeared, Equesatrian ponies quickly fell back but in an attempt in locate his friends, Spike came face to face with a Saddle Arabian noble.
Further back only five wielders of the elements had met up and in the chaotic retreat, Discord showed up in front of Fluttershy causing her to frighteningly run into the right side of the canyon.
“I'm so sick and tired of you Fluttershy,” Discord madly said “ I'm gonna end your kindness once and for all”, Discord picked up the yellow scared pony but before he had the chance to finish her of, a pink pony jumpkicked the hand he was holding Fluttershy in.
“Don't you dare touch her” Pinkie Pie yelled at Discord as she stood in front of Fluttershy to protect her.
“You stupid pink annoying pony!” Discord said with a little pain in his voice, he never had believed that Pinkie Pie was that strong. “But if you stand in my way I'll finish you instead”.
Before Futtershy realized what had happened Discord and Pinkie Pie was locked in a deadly combat and when she saw that Pinkie Pie had made a mistake, she saw Discord's sword had a clear thrust. Fluttershy cried out loudly making her friends hear and rushed towards the location and when they got there, they saw Fluttershy bent forward of a body. Applejack who was the first by Fluttershy cried Pinkie Pie's name loudly and the remaining three friends caught up. Pinkie Pie who was held in Fluttershy's hooves, had been deadly wounded and bled heavily.
Fallen heroes
Pinkie Pie opened her eyes and saw four of her best friends stand beside her. “I'm so sorry Twilight,” Pinkie Pie cried “I thought I could take him”.
“Pinkie, why would you do that?” Twilight said while trying to holding back her tears.
“He attacked Fluttershy” the pink earth pony coughed “I only tried to do something that didn't have anything to do with sugar for once” she said trying to put a smile on her friends’ lips. Pinkie Pie looked towards the sky and said “I guess this is it” while her coughing got worse.
Rainbow who had gotten an eye patch found her friends around Pinkie Pies body and as soon Rainbow saw Pinkie Pies condition she fell to the ground in tears and begged Pinkie to stay with them.
“I can't Dashie, and you have to defeat Discord and I would really have loved a cupcake right now” Pinkie said and once more looked towards the sky “smiling has always filled my heart with sunshine” she said before giving her last breath.
The five friends stood there shocked over their friend had left them. Rainbow Dash who had gotten up went away to cry her tears, Rarity and Applejack grabbed each other and cried, Fluttershy stared at her friend who had died in her hooves and Twilight just stood there with tears rolling down over her cheeks while she realized the harmony of the Elements, had been broken.
When the five friends came back to the camp with Pinkies lifeless body, they quickly found out how bad of an idea this had been. About one fourth of the force had been killed or captured and another fourth wounded and the rest had gone missing, but more and more bodies were dragged out of the canyon. After they had been seen by a nurse, Twilight and Applejack began to grow worried for Spike and Big Mac but when a guard asked for a word with Twilight, she broke into tears as she was told Spike had been found lifeless underneath a Saddle Arabian stallion. Applejack had in the meanwhile started to walk around to see if she could find her brother and as she went from the area with those who made it out alive to the wounded area and finally to the fallen, Applejack only grew more afraid of her brother fate and when she saw a red stallion with a big green apple on his flank.
“MacIntosh” Applejack yelled in pain and quickly found herself by her brothers side “You big dumb apple”, she cried “How in tarnation am I supposed to tell this to Apple Bloom, first Granny and now you.”
Fluttershy who had seen the shadow of Applejack collapsing came over only to share Applejack's tears.
“I'm so so sorry AJ” Fluttershy cried “I wish none of this had happened.”
“It-it... it ain't your fault sugarcube” Applejack said as clear as she could while hugging her friend “He always wanted to do something great and now he's with ma' and pa'” Applejack said before she broke into tears again.
Discord's trial
As time went by, statues of Pinkie Pie and Spike were erected in Canterlot Garden and Big Mac had one rose at Sweet Apple Acres all with the text 'Heroes of Equesatria’.
After the loss of Pinkie, Luna had gathered the biggest army Equesatria had ever fielded and had somehow almost destroyed Saddle Arabia. Rainbow Dash who had served under Luna had quickly made it up through the ranks and had become a captain and had been the one who had forced Saddle Arabia to surrender.
Twilight had more or less taken Luna's place as the less encountered princess and ruled with an iron hoof, and some had begun to wonder how stable her mind was after the loss of Pinkie Pie and Spike. Most civilians in Canterlot believed that her loss of Spike had been the worse due to she on raining days just sat near Spike's statue.
Applejack made the decision to send Apple Bloom to Ponyland with other Applefamily members to keep her as safe as she could; Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo were of cause heart broken to lose their friend completely. Rarity had asked Applejack the real reason due to as a sister Rarity knew her bond towards their sister. Applejack had broken into tears and told Rarity it was mostly Applejack's fear of dieing in battle and leaving Apple Bloom alone.
Fluttershy had become more introverted and hardly spoke with anyone. Some begun to say she had went insane. Rarity was the only one who could reach her now and then. Fluttershy had often told Rarity about her nightmare of Pinkies death that kept haunting her. Then Fluttershy broke into tears even more often. It didn't matter if Rarity was around or not.
Rarity had moved to Manehatten where she had become the newest fashion designer, model and had made a fortune with which she had sent Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo to Ponyland's finest school and had paid for Apple Bloom's stay as well.
One day Luna, Twilight, and Cadacne sat in a meet when Shining Armor came running through doors and said they all had to come to the statue of Celestia. When they got there Discord stood in front of Celestia's statue.
“You know, it does get lonely without ones greatest enemy.” he said with some degree of sadness in his voice.
“What are you doing here Discord?” Luna shouted
Discord turned around. “Well what would I be doing here?” he asked with a raised eyebrow “I'm here to get back my throne.”
“That is never going to happen!” Twilight yelled and was just about to call the guards then Discord cut her off.
“Don't you think this is the way I wanted this in the first place, but you left me no choice! After I kidnapped Luna, all you did was to send an army towards Sombra while I wasn't there.” Discord said with his mad voice. “You should really do some more research next time.” He continued a bit irritated while looking at Twilight who blushed.
“What you did crossed the line,” Luna said while she held her head high.
“And they didn't even know you were back before you turned my sister into stone.”
“Oh? I thought I couldn't make it more clear. Hmm, guess I've been slacking off then.”
A guard came running towards Luna and Twilight and kneeled before them. “You Highnesses, there is a large amount of creatures going towards and into the Discordant Crystal Empire.”
“Stop it right there soldier boy” Discord said “'Discordant Crystal Empire' who in the name of chaos gave it such a boring name? It's 'the Discordant Empire' and don't you forget it or I'll turn you into a frog, or a cat or... or something else...” Discord said as his face became mad and the look in his eyes more twisted.
“Undo all you have done Discord and we might show a little mercy” Twilight stated.
“You know Twilight Sparkle, I was told to deliver you a message from your little dragon friend Spike,” Discord started as a smile began show on his face, “Well let's hear it shall we?” he asked while taking out some reading glasses. He cleared his throat “My dear Twilight” he paused to see with he had everyponies attention, “This side of death is horrible and so painful. I feel like all my bones are getting crushed over and over again, please Twilight help me. Oh what do we have here?” he asked in a mocking voice. “Twilight how could you this, you killed me Twilight, you broke your promise of protecting me at all cost, it hurts Twilight make the pain go away!” Discord started laughing as soon as he was done.
“Enough, Discord!” Twilight cried, “You might have caused this, but I didn't kill Spike, I would have saved him if I had known where he was!” Twilight broke into tears.
“Discord, I swear by Celestia that you will pay!” Shining Armor interrupted.
Discord looked a Shining Armor “How brave you are Shiny” Discord teased “Oh fine, if you really want things to be the same as before all this you have to get the Elements of Harmony to stop me, but your memory will disappear as well, but fine by me then”Discord laughed as he vanished into thin air.
Equesatria's fate
Princess Luna had called every stallion and mare in the Equesatrian army to a meeting that Discord had crossed the last line and had verbally attacked Princess Twilight and Discord had said there was a way to bring back peace and harmony to Equesatria, but it was in the heart of Discord's Discordant Empire. Princess Cadacne and Shining Armor asked the the Equesatrians to help take back the Crystal Empire and free their brothers and sisters from Discord's tyranny.
Rainbow Dash held a speech telling her story and the loss of her dearest friend Pinkie Pie who had bravely faced Discord to protect another pony. What Rainbow Dash didn't know was that word quickly spread throughout Equesatria and reached every corner and ignited the spark of freedom and peace.
The day before Princess Luna, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Shining Armor and the army to fight Discord left, something happened.
Rumors had it that three more mares were joining and that one of them brought an army with her. The first one who entered the camp was Rarity who had come to honor the friendship between them and in honor of Spike. The next one was a stronger mare who looked like a farmer in armor and when the cloak was removed, Applejack joined up to take revenge of the murder of Big MacIntosh. And finally a yellow mare who clearly hadn't seen any friends in a long time joined up.
Fluttershy entered with her army of animals from all over Equesatria and they all agreed to march out the next day.
As the great army advanced into Discords corrupted nation, Luna took the lead as she had seen the area. Luna had to stop sometimes, as the environment kept changing in front of her eyes. The land kept growing more wild and out of hand, but somehow clear enough for them to move-on.
It was almost like Discord wanted them to come to him. Discord's empire had taken over Tall Tale and had expanded toward the east. The closer to the capital, the more trouble they ran into, and at one point they had to fight off all sorts of creatures that wore Discord's coat of arms.
“Quickly, get in formation!” Shining Armor ordered as Discord's army encircled them.
Luna ordered the Pegasi to take control of the air and told Rainbow Dash to take the lead.
Twilight asked Applejack and Rarity if they would help by taking the lead for the Ponylanders battalion. Fluttershy had already gone to her own animal army and told them that she really needed their help to protect their homes from this evil creature called 'Discord'.
“Come on everypony!” Applejack said and began to run towards the chaos filled ranks.
Above Applejack, Rainbow Dash followed closely and as soon as she saw that Applejack's lines had engaged in close and dense combat, she turned to her fellow Pegasi and gave the order to hit them hard from left to right.
Twilight stood there with Shining Armor and the Royal Guards ready to move in whereever they were losing. As Twilight stood there and commanded the ponies, she suddenly saw Luna high in the sky. She looked almost like Nightmare Moon and her horn glowed stronger than Twilight had ever seen before. Luna dived towards the closely packed ranks and released a beam that blew a large gap open for the Equesatrian army to fill, fight and split Discord's army in two. Shortly after Luna had made the grab, Discord's army crumbled and fled.
“This is a sign that Discord can be defeated if we stand united, but when we take on Discord, it won't be easy. But I believe we can do it!” Shining Armor spoke to everypony after the battle.
When they all came to the capital, it was far from anything anyone ever had seen.
Discord's castle was all twisted and tangled. They sat up camp outside Discord's capital and after a long time of something that looked like a siege, Ponyland's army finally arrived. Most of them never had seen battle though. They began talking about how to take down Discord.
Luna looked towards Discord's castle and remembered how it was over a thousand years ago and how hard her and Celestia's battle against Discord had been and how weakened they had been after that. The thing Luna was most worried about was that this time the Elements of Harmony couldn't save them.
“Well well, look who's here” Discord's voice echoed out from the throne he sat on, “Looks like somepony wants to change things back to how they were” He madly laughed.
Discord's blighted army slowly marched forward. It contained all sorts of beasts and corrupted stallions and stopped right outside the capital.
“Has he become even madder?” Twilight asked Luna who shook her head.
“No, not really Twilight. The more chaos Discord makes, the more he will be corrupted by it and it is also the way of the Draconequus. We know very little about Discord's race” Luna softly told Twilight.
“Well princesses, anything I can help you with?” Discord asked gently with a heavy tone of irony “But the spell to undo my chaos is not free” Discord swirled in the air above his throne, which he had moved outside.
Fluttershy stepped forth “Discord, its Fluttershy” she said “Why are you doing this, you are hurting others.”
“So? Should I care or feel sorry? Oh tell me what to do as long as I don't get 'the stare'” Discord dragged out the words to mock the yellow pony.
Since there was nothing more to do. Discord sat down and snapped his finger, causing the sky to get covered with dark cotton candy clouds which to no-ones surprise rained chocolate.
“Well my dear ponies, how long are you planning to stay on my land?” Discord asked in a tone that made them look like bugs. “ We can make a deal, you get this land, which you obviously love so much, if I get Equestria” he said, knowing they would never agree.
“Discord this is your last chance, surrender or die!” Rainbow Dash yelled with cheers from Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy and most of the soldiers.
“Die? Me? Oh my little Dashie I don't think so, you see, I'm still the body of chaos and I will enjoy sennding you to that annoying Pinkie Pie. Ooh I wonder where she is?” Discord asked at the grin of a mad mare “But most of all, you magic casting unicorns are worse than she ever was and I should change your magic into meaningless spells so it fits your stupid race!” Discord almost roared.
All ponies went into their positions and readied for battle behind Luna and Shining Armor.
They slowly begun marching forth. On the other side behind Discord, his blighted army approached at the same speed as the great army of Equestria and Ponyland.
Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy Applejack and Rarity slowly went towards Discord as the chocolate rain fell around them.
“Discord, your tyranny is gonna end today and you will pay for what you have done to Celestia, Equesatria, Spike, Pinkie Pie and Big MacIntosh!” they said as they slowly came close to him with their weapons drawn and horn glowing in the thick rain.
Discord rose from his throne and looked at them.
A big and wide grin spread across his lips.
Discord said in a mad voice “Looks like we might be due for a big ol' storm of chaos!”
