When Princess Luna enters Twilight Sparkle's dream, she finds a sweet surprise waiting for her.

Luna has seen the dreams of ponies for centuries now. Happy dreams, sad dreams, dreaming of a secret crush, memories of a lost love, all that one can imagine. They all reflect the pony doing the dreaming, and sometimes she goes in to assist them in their problems.

But when she goes into the dream of Twilight Sparkle one night, the most beautiful sight is waiting for her inside.

The stars glittered and beckoned out to Luna, as she soared through the night sky. Everything around her was so serene, so much at peace with itself that she sighed calmly. Her breath puffed out in a vapor, and she smiled as she glided through it. She hadn’t felt this much happiness in a long time. Every now and then, her wings carried her through a cloud, and the feeling gave her a sense of freedom and joy, peace and calmness.

Yet another dream, Luna thought. She was sensing a dream nearby. Perhaps I shall take yet another dive into a pony’s subconscious to see what lies within.

Her eyes glowed brightly as the dreamscape came up quickly now. She attempted to see whose head she was going into, but she felt a sense of fuzziness around her. She wasn’t prepared for this one, and this made the landing in the dream world more annoying than most of her trips there.

Darkness loomed all around the confused princess. Not even her stars were out in this strange space. It seemed that whoever this pony was, they didn’t appreciate her skills very much. She frowned as she began walking through the ominous landscape.

The sound of a simple yet beautiful melody echoed throughout the area. Luna heard it in her ears, and she came forward toward the source of the sound. As she made her way there, a shape began to take form before her. When her vision made clear what she was seeing, her eyes widened in surprise.

She was staring at a mirror-like image of herself. She wasn’t being vain; the image itself was beautiful. It was shimmering and glistening, yet Luna wasn’t that impressed.

In fact, as soon as she saw this image, she knew where this was going. Some crazy fan-stallion had possibly made a little shrine of her inside of his subconscious, and he was probably going to be doing something indecent to this mirror self. She rolled her eyes and shook her head, reminded of what she had seen before in other stallions’ dreams.

Luna took a deep, calming breath and reluctantly stuck her hoof into the mirror that held the image of herself. She had done this plenty of times before, but fear of the unknown was always there with her when she did things like this.

Not like this was anything new to her.

Inside the pony’s head were so many beautiful and stunning images of the Princess. But Luna wasn’t surprised. All around her, the images were sparkling and singing the song she heard earlier. She tilted her head and tried to listen to the melody. The song was very quiet though. Once she was sure nothing peculiar was going on, considering this was all just another dream, she walked on.

The song grew louder, and it was one of the most beautiful songs that Luna had ever heard. She wondered if it was a musician's dream she was in, or perhaps a composer’s.

But what she saw next left her astonished.

She had no idea that she was in the mind of Twilight Sparkle, who was sleeping soundly in her bed. A picture of Twilight then emerged inside of her mind, and as soon as it did, Luna knew instantly whose dream she had entered. Twilight Sparkle was now floating towards her, and the Princess of the Night stood tall.

“Twilight Sparkle,” Luna said.

She tried to reach out to her, but Twilight’s dream image stopped and smiled at her, then began to sing. Her voice was so beautiful. Luna listened closely to the amazing tune, and she smiled at the singing purple alicorn.

The dream Twilight smiled at Luna, and walked up closer to the stunned Princess as she continued to sing.

“Heart beats fast, colors and promises, how to be brave? How can I love when I’m afraid to fall?” Twilight asked in song.

Luna’s eyes widened as many images floated by the two of them. The images were of her and Twilight together. Some of them were kissing, others were just hugging or cuddling. This made Luna blush lightly as she glanced at the wandering images. She had always admired Twilight, but the thought of her secretly having feelings for her…She didn’t know how to react.

“Twilight, this is all very flattering… but I am afraid that I’m not interested in romance of any sort. I’m still trying to figure out where I stand with everypony. Most of them seem to have taken an interest in me, but this-” Luna cut herself off, knowing full well that Twilight wasn’t listening.

She sighed and narrowed her eyes, but it looked like Twilight was going to sing again. This made Luna a little nervous, but she kept looking at the purple mare.

“But watching you stand alone, all of my doubt suddenly disappears somehow.” Twilight sang as she walked closer to Luna.

This lyric made the Princess loosen her hard stare. She had always felt rather alone, even though her sister said time and time again that she wasn’t. Did Twilight know how she felt? This young mare couldn’t possibly know how long she had really been alone.

A thousand years… Luna thought bitterly.

“Twilight, this is enough,” Luna said. “I know how much you care for me, just by seeing all of this, and I know you mean no harm, but there are times where you say things without-” She cut herself off again.

This argument was pointless; it was like talking to a brick wall, and the dream Twilight came up even closer to her and started singing her song again.

“One step closer,” Twilight sang as she nuzzled against Luna.

It was like Twilight was in some sort of trance. Luna had no idea how to snap her out of it. But Twilight’s warm body was so welcome against her cold one, the fear had drained her and she couldn’t contain herself.

She nuzzled Twilight back after a while. She was afraid of what would happen if she refused her wishes.

This surprised Luna herself. She blinked and took a step away from Twilight.

“Twilight, I’m not too sure if we should be doing this. I mean, what would Celestia, and everypony else for that matter, think? I mean, it’s not that I don’t care for you as well. It’s just-”

Twilight cut her off, and placed a hoof on Luna’s mouth, making her blink in surprise again.

“Princess Luna, it’s okay,” Twilight reassured. “I know you’re afraid, but you don’t have to be. I’ll always be there for you. I’m sorry if I scared you before. I promise not to do that again,” she said, leaning against the dark blue Princess.

Luna sighed. “What is this dream all about, Twilight? Why have you not talked to me before?” she asked.

Twilight giggled shyly. She smiled at Luna as images of hearts appeared all around them, which made Luna blinked in surprise. She was awed at how brave and direct Twilight was being with this.

“Well… I’ve always loved you, since we met actually. I knew you’d never go for somepony like me though. You were always so regal, and I was just a common pony,” Twilight responded, lowering her head.

Luna smiled a kind smile and put her hoof under Twilight’s chin, lifting it up to look at the taller alicorn. “Twilight Sparkle, you have never been common to me. Since hearing so much about you from my sister, I have always found you special,” she replied.

This made Twilight’s heart soar with happiness. Just knowing that Luna thought she was special made all of her hard work worth it. She hoped that she knew that, and somehow, Luna did.

Twilight’s music began to play again, and Luna smiled. This song was beautiful now. It wasn’t scary or different anymore.

“I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more,” Twilight sang as she and Luna took to the sky.

Next, the dream changed and Luna felt like singing too. The song was speaking to her very soul and she took a deep breath and sang beside Twilight.

“Time stands still, beauty in all you are. I will be brave, I will not let anything take away what’s flying right beside me. Every breath, every hour has come to this.” Luna smiled as she flew closer to Twilight.

Twilight’s eyes widened as Luna leaned in towards her, the two mares blushed as the song kept playing.

“One step closer,” Twilight sang quietly, just before Luna’s lips met with hers.

The kiss felt beautiful. It wasn’t too hard, and it wasn’t too soft. It was perfect. It was everything Twilight had dreamt it would be, and she was sharing it with the mare she had dreamed and longed for.

It had only lasted a short while before they parted from each other. “Wow, Luna…” Twilight panted, “that was amazing.”

A light blush crept across Twilight’s muzzle, and Luna’s eyes sparkled with glee at the sight.

“Was it?” asked Luna.

Luna hadn’t kissed anypony before, and the simple thrill of appreciation for something as simple as a nice kiss was very welcoming.

“I’m very glad you liked it,” she admitted with a sheepish smile. “I have never done this before.”

Twilight laughed, but not unkindly. She had never kissed anypony either, and she had thought that Luna had kissed many ponies already, considering her growing fanbase.

“Well, that’s actually a relief. I haven’t kissed anypony either,” Twilight replied, a blush creeping up on her face.

Luna giggled and snuggled up to Twilight. The two alicorns circled each other, their manes entangling as they kissed. The passionate moment they shared made their hearts beat faster than ever. The loving moment between the two lasted only for moments before the kiss was broken

They stared into each other’s eyes, lovestruck as each princess focused solely on the other mare. They shared the most heartfelt smile on their faces together, as Luna began to sing.

“I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you,” the night Princess sang as the dream started to fade away in Twilight’s mind.

“For a thousand years… I'll love you for a thousand more.”

By that time, the entire landscape had faded to a complete white space of nothingness, and Twilight felt the dream ending around them.

When she came to, she found herself sitting by a lake, staring out into the night sky. The moon’s beautiful reflection lit up the lake, giving it a sort of romantic view. She sighed solemnly as she thought back to her recently ended dream. She didn’t want it to end, not when it was a wonderful as it was.

Her ear twitched a little, as she heard hoofsteps against the grass behind her. When she turned around to see what had made them, she felt ecstatic. It was Princess Luna, and she was smiling just as much as Twilight. She stepped ever so closely, as the purple mare watched her in amazement.

“All along, I believed I would find you. Time has brought your heart to me,” Twilight sang as Luna stopped directly in front of her, her teal eyes glimmering from the light of the moon’s reflection.

“I have loved you for a thousand years… I'll love you for a thousand more,” Luna finished.

And a mere moment later, their lips met one final time, each pony held lovingly in the other’s arms.
