> Long Lost Love > by Twi-Fi > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Just By Happenstance. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manehatten, the city of beauty and elitism was built on the foundation of filth and corruption. Its buildings stood tall on the world as if telling everypony, 'Feel my might!' And below the majestic buildings were the scavengers, the thieves that lurked in every ally. Shady ponies selling contraband and them selves at every corner. But the filth of the back alleys wasn't the only source of the corruption; the majestic buildings them selves housed their share of corporate criminals as well. Still, ponies went about their lives, trudging the hustle and bustle and didn't seem to notice, or care. This was Scootaloo's view on the city. Of course she had a bad take on Manehatten. Why wouldn't she? The reason she came to the city wasn't under favorable circumstances; not that anything ever was but she knew she did it to herself. She had no idea where she would be tomorrow but she knew it wasn't going to be here. She had finished what she set out to do. She longed to return to Ponyville but she knew she couldn't go back, not yet. The pain was still raw inside her. A pain she didn't know how to handle, so she ran because she knew only time can mend... mend most. Some wounds were too deep, even for time. She buried those painful memories deep down; in a place where they would never hurt again. She knew she was hurting more than most would have imagined, even those closest to her. She was tough, and never showed pain. Because pain was weakness, or so she believed. It was late evening and Scootaloo walked the streets, hungry and unsure where she was going to eat. Money wasn't the issue, she had plenty. Nor was the selection of food, this was Manehatten after all. She wasn't particular where she ate either, simply, she couldn't decide. She passed a blues lounge while walking. She could hear a sultry voice and slow jazzy blues music through the walls. She stopped to listen, reminded of a happier time when things were't so complicated or forlorn. She loved her... Sweetie Belle and Sweetie Belle loved her. She reminisced how she loved to hear Sweetie Belle belt out the blues like no pony could. It was these memories that led to her decision to enter the lounge to eat and watch the show, just like old times. To hell with it. Scootaloo entered the lounge and was greeted with thick smoke laden air. Ponies sat at the bar drinking away their sorrow, puffing on fat cigars. Others danced in the middle of the room and some just sat on the couch watching the show. Her eyes scanned the room for an empty table but she stopped once she saw the pony who was singing. A pony she never expected to see again. A white unicorn with a curly purple and pink mane. A unicorn she loved. Her jaw dropped in shock as she stared. Impossible, after all this time she still can sing the blues. This is... amazing. My love... Sweetie Belle. I've missed you so. She was instantly greeted with a flood of emotions, heartbreak and guilt were the strongest but there was a spark of joy. It nestled its self in her heart and grew, spreading a warm feeling through her body. She couldn't believe it. Just by happenstance she walked in and happened to find her long lost love. She is still as gorgeous as ever. "Another Miss Belle!" A patron from the bar called out. "Sorry, that's all I'm doing tonight. I'll sing more tomorrow." "What can I get for you, pegasus?" The bar tender grunted as Scootaloo approached it. "Would it possible if you could deliver a message to the singer. You see we used to be good friends but we haven't seen each other in so long." "Why don't cha just go back and talk to her?" The bar tender said annoyed. "Please if you could just tell her to meet me at that table over there." Scootaloo pointed to a table off to the side. "Ugh, fillies." The bar tender rolled his eyes and stalked off toward the stage; disappearing from view behind the curtain. She wondered if she made the right choice as she took her seat at the secluded table she pointed out. She wasn't even sure why she couldn't just go back there and talk to her. She just felt like she couldn't approach her like that after all these years. She had no idea what she was going to say. Did she even have anything to say? No words, no actions or force in all of Equestria could undo the past; so, she was stuck with the first question she asked herself. Would Sweetie Belle even want to talk to her? She could hear footsteps approaching her from behind. Her heart was racing but she didn't turn her head, she stared straight forward. "Scootaloo?" An unsure voice said from her side. She turned her head in the direction of the voice and her eyes met two big emerald eyes. "Oh my Celestia! Scootaloo!" Sweetie Belle said excitedly talking a seat at the table. "How did you know I was here?" "I didn't. I just heard some amazing blues and thought this would be a nice place to get a bite to eat. It's good to see you." "Wow, what are the chances? What are you doing these days, we have so much to catch up on." "Well I'm not doing too much these days. I was here for a few months doing a class thingy but that's over and I'm not sure where I'm off to next." Scootaloo said looking at the table. She couldn't bring herself to say why she was really there. She feared Sweetie Belle would never speak to her again if she knew. "What about you? I see you still sing the blues as amazing as ever..." "Well, I have two jobs. This is just for fun. I work in the music store right down the road part time and I write music for Bridleway musicals." "Wow! I always knew you'd go places with your talent. Bridleway...that's amazing. No singing career? What happened with that record contract you were offered?" Scootaloo's insides twisted as she asked, she was treading into dangerous territory. Her friendship hung on by threads and she was nearing a subject that could sever that thread. "Oh, that... well it didn't go over. It came down to two things, I had the talent but he would never get me headlining any shows because I wouldn't sleep with him." "Oh, that pig." Scootaloo said in disgust. "Yeah he was trying his best to be the gentlecolt too. Kept buying me things, kept trying to take me to fancy restaurants, kept hinting he liked me. I had to tell him I don't swing that way and wasn't interested. He got really nasty and told me that if I didn't sleep with him or let him have his way with me I wasn't going to get anywhere in the industry. He tried to guilt me and he even tried to force himself on me but I got away. I ran so fast and so far that night." "I'm so sorry Sweetie, I would have beat him to a pulp for you." Sweetie Belle giggled. She loved it when Scootaloo got protective over her. She thought it was cute. "I actually tried again with a different label but it was almost the same thing, no pony can just be honest it seemed. I was pretty much black listed after I ran out on that label. It worked out in the end though I was woking at a music store when a producer came in looking for somepony who could write music to a simple chord progression in his new musical. I told him I could do it and he liked it so much he hired me to write more music for him. And he even put me touch with several other producers. I'm kind of a free lance composer but I love it." Sweetie Belle explained excitedly, she always did get excited about music. "Wow, you overcame so much and look at you now! Lounge singer and a composer for Bridleway! I bet those record companies are feeling a bit stupid for putting you on the black list. You never went to the police about those two though?" "No, I was scared. The city was bigger than I remembered it when Rarity always took me. It scared me and then that happened and I thought that was how the industry worked." Sweetie Belle shook her head. "Still, I like where I'm at now. And if I ever feel like singing, I come here." She smiled at Scootaloo. "What about you?" "Well, after you left Ponyville I joined a traveling circus doing extreme stunts. It was fun and I was quite popular until I broke my leg. I didn't wait for it to heal properly and I was back doing stunts when it snapped again. The circus said they couldn't have me, I was losing them money... So after that I've just been traveling here and there." Scootaloo looked down at the table caught in her musing. The circus ponies were a strange bunch but they took her in as family for a short time; and for that short time, she felt like she belonged. "Have you been to Ponyville recently?" "I was there a few months ago. Not a lot has changed either. Just Ponies have grown up and gone on with their lives. Apple Bloom, last I knew, was working on the farm but I didn't see her." Scootalo smiled looking at Sweetie Belle. "Remember our days as the Cutie Mark Crusaders?" "Yeah, those were the days. So much fun we had and all the trouble we got into." Sweetie Belle said laughing. "Remember the dance?" "Sweet Apples Acres Cider Gala, first day of cider season, our first date." Scootaloo said remembering the days leading up to the dance, remembering how nervous she was about confessing her feelings to Sweetie Belle. Her annoyance with Apple Bloom's constant teasing but also thankfulness for doing the most wonderful thing a friend has ever done for her. "I remember after the dance too. The first time we made love, it was magical." Sweetie Belle said dreamily as she looked Scootaloo in the eyes. Scootaloo blushed a little as she remembered her first intimate moment, one she thought would bind them together forever. She remembered the softness of her fur, the tenderness of each kiss, the ecstasy she felt as Sweetie Belle held her tight through her first orgasm and the love she felt after as they fell asleep in each other's hooves. Scootaloo gazed into Sweetie Belle's eyes. Those big green eyes she loved so much. They stared at each other for a moment, a moment where everything stood still. Then as if on queue they both slammed their forehooves on the table pushing them selves up and leaning over the table into each other. They began to kiss each other furiously, tongues intertwining. Scootaloo could feel the fire in her heart as a new emotion surfaced. Love. "Oh, Scootaloo, I missed you so much." Sweetie Belle whispered. "After the music thing fell through I wanted to come back to you but you had left. I'm so sorry." She kissed Scootaloo on the lips. "I've missed you more than you can imagine. I'm sorry too. I should never have -" Sweetie Belle put a hoof over her mouth. "Shh." Sweetie Belle brought Scootaloo into an embrace. "Want to come back to my place?" "Yeah. I'd like that." Scootaloo didn't know what she was getting herself into but it seemed Sweetie Belle wasn't interested in the past. Maybe she just wanted her best friend and lover back. She only hoped they could be close again because she was still very much in love with her. > A Night Of Passion. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo followed Sweetie Belle into her apartment after the countless stairs she climbed to get there. She was shocked at the rather smallness. It was a simple one bedroom dingy apartment, one room with a hall that led to the bedroom. There was single table with a towering stack of sheet music on it, threatening to topple over at any given moment littering the apartment with thousands of songs. An upright piano stood against the wall, it too was covered in pieces of sheet music. "Wow, Sweetie... I didn't expect the ritz but... " "I know it's not much but it's all I can afford. This city is very expensive." Sweetie Belle said sadly. "They just need to pay you more. I mean it's not too bad I just thought you'd be living in an awesome place after being a Bridleway musical writer." Scootaloo felt her heart sink. Maybe I can buy her a house, something to get her our of this awful place. "I don't get any royalties, just a commission. But I'm working on some music for a big production coming up and I'll get royalties, which will help." Sweetie Belle's eyes teared up a little. "Hey, it's okay. I know it's tough but you are amazing. I mean you have to be to write music for Bridleway. I can always lend you some money if you need help." "No, I don't want to take your money. I can make my own way. I'll just get more hours at the shop." "You are making your way, in the most expensive city but it's okay to lean on a friend. Even an old fiend like me." Scootaloo put her foreleg around Sweetie Belle, hugging her tight. "Are you sure, you're okay? I'll pay you back." Sweetie Belle asked nuzzling Scootaloo's neck. "Don't worry about it. Pay me back when - actually no don't. It's a gift." "Oh, no. Scoots I can't." "Sweetie... I owe you more than money can buy. I -" "You don't owe me anything. The past is the past." "I want to give it to you. I've made some bad choices and haven't spent my inheritance money on something I feel good about." "What do you mean?" Sweetie Belle asked as she put her nose against scootaloo's neck, taking in her scent. "Well I was - the past is the past, like you said. I'm a better pony now and I'm here with you. That's all that matters." Scootaloo kissed Sweetie Belle on the forehead, just below her horn. "I accept your gift under one condition..." "Oh?" "Yeah, I accept under the condition that you never leave me again." Sweetie Belle said. Scootaloo looked into her eyes and kissed her on the lips, pushing her tongue into her mouth. She kissed her on the cheek then down her neck. She made her way back up her neck and nibbled on her ear. Sweetie Belle whimpered as Scootaloo liked around the base of her ear then nibbling the top again. She kissed her on the lips again making Sweetie Belle moan into Scootaloo's mouth. Scootaloo pulled her mouth off Sweetie Belle's, "Shall we move this to the bedroom?" Sweetie Belle practically ran to her room and threw herself on the bed. She rolled onto her back spreading her hind legs, exposing her marehood to Scootaloo. Scootaloo laid herself on top of Sweetie Belle, kissing her passionately. She ran her tongue down Sweetie Belle's neck making her shiver and moan. She planted small kisses on her soft belly, moving lower and lower. She made her way between her legs. She ran her tongue around her teats before taking one in her mouth and sucking it. Sweetie Belle moaned loudly. This excited Scootaloo making her wet as she continued to suck her teat then lick all around until she went lower, to the place she really wanted to go. She pushed her hind legs apart a little more as she took in the sight of her. She could smell her intoxicating sweet musky scent, a scent scootaloo couldn't get enough of. She put her nose against her taking in as much of her scent as she could before diving in and licking her slit. Sweetie Belle cried out in pleasure as she ran her tongue the entire length of her slit flicking her nub at the top. "Oh, oh wow. It's been so long. Oh yes, oh yes...ummmm. Put it in me. OH!" Sweetie Belle panted and screamed as Scootaloo pushed he tongue inside her. "Oh that's the spot...don't stop. Let me take care of you." Scootaloo turned her body around while keeping her tongue busy alternating between licking Sweetie Belle's clit and pushing her tongue inside her. She lowered herself onto Sweetie Belle's face. She could feel her hot breath as her muzzle got closer. She archer her back as Sweetie Belle lunged in an began licking her slit. She cried out as she felt Sweetie Belle's tongue enter her then pull out and lick in a circular motion over her nub. "Oh, harder! Oh Sweetie! I love you! Oh yes, harder!" Scootaloo yelled out then plunged back into Sweetie Belle's hole, sticking her tongue in as far as it could go. She was close to going over the edge and she knew Sweetie Belle was getting there too. "Wait, wait." Sweetie Belle panted. "I want to look you in the eyes, I want to hold you." Scootaloo pulled her face away then tuned her body. She spread Sweetie Belle's hind legs as far as she could with hers. She slid herself around until she felt her nub touch Sweetie Belle's. She stared into her eyes as she ground her hips into Sweetie Belle. "Oh, I love you so much! Oh, yes oh, I'm about to - I'm about to Ohhhhh! Yes! Harder! Ooooh!" Sweetie Belle's eyes rolled back and her body began to shake she wrapped her legs around Scootaloo and pulled her in tight. She could feel Scootaloo's body trembling above her. She could feel her vagina clenching and pulsing. Their juices squirting out onto each other, both their nether regions soaked. They held each other, panting in pure ecstasy. "That, was, amazing." Sweetie Belle said between pants. "Oh, yeah. It was." Scootaloo panted into Sweetie Belle's ear. She could feel her most sensitive area still firmly pressed against Sweetie Belle's, throbbing with heat. She pushed her hips down firmly making Sweetie Belle moan. "Oh, mmm, yes, again. Please." Sweetie Belle bucked her hips into Scootaloo making her gasp. Scootaloo arched her back pushing her upper body up. She put her forehooves on Sweetie Belle's inner shoulders pushing her hips hard into Sweetie Belle. She moaned and Scootaloo began to hump her rhythmically. She liked it when Scootaloo held her down forcefully and stared into her eyes like she was gazing into her soul. "Yes! Oh Scootaloo! Harder, harder, Ooooh! You are so wet... I want more of your juices in me. Yes! Rut me like a wild stallion!" Scootaloo's wings began to buzz behind her giving her an extra push. She could hear Scootaloo began to grunt as her pace quickened and she knew Scootaloo was close. "I'm about to... I'm about to...Oh!!" She screamed. Scootaloo removed her hooves from Sweetie Belle's shoulders and lowered her upper body. She knew Sweetie Belle liked to hold her tight as she rode out her orgasms. "Oooooo!" Sweetie Belle wrapped her legs around Scootaloo pulling her in tight. Her body tensed up as she hit her peak, her body shaking she bucked her hips wildly. She pushed her clit against Scootaloo's as hard as she could, intensifying her orgasm. She stared into Scootaloo's eyes as she felt Scootaloo's body vibrating against hers. They laid there gazing into each other eyes, panting in pure bliss. Never had they ever felt so satisfied. "I love you! I love you so much." Scootaloo rolled off of Sweetie Belle pulling her into an embrace. Sweetie Belle cuddled against her. Scootaloo kissed her on the cheek before drifting off to sleep. > Sorrow And Regrets > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As twilight turned to sunrise, the morning light painted the sky orange and the clouds pink as it shined through the window reflecting off the glass heating up the room. The empty streets below began to fill with ponies and busy commerce as everypony rushed about getting their coffee and newspapers on their way work. It was the noise not the light, something Scootaloo still wasn't use to. It always woke her early so, she made it part of her life to just wake up early in the city. It was that or toss and turn with a pillow over her head for hours. Scootaloo laid still in bed, she had one of the best sleeps she has ever had. She felt the warmth of something soft next to her. She opened an eye and saw a mass of pink and purple in front of her. She took in the scent, strawberries. As she lifted her head she could see Sweetie Belle sleeping peacefully, her back against Scootaloo's stomach. She nuzzled Sweetie Belle's mane before sitting up. "Ugh, what ssstime iz it?" Sweetie Belle muttered sleepily into the pillow. "Um, six thirty am." "Smatter with you? Gettin up zo early." Scootaloo lowered her head kissing her on the cheek. "Come back to bed." "I get up early now. It's part of my program." Scootaloo rolled out of bed and stretched. "Ugh." Sweetie Belle lifted her head to see Scootaloo heading toward the bathroom. "You got a nice ass. Just thought you should know." Sweetie giggled sleepily. Scootaloo shook her hips and lifted her tail, exposing herself completely. "Now there's a view I can get use to seeing every morning." Sweetie Belle said before she let her head fall back on her pillow. She closed her eyes she muttered, "I have a few more hours before work." "I'll make you breakfast after I shower." Scootaloo smiled then entered the bathroom and turned on the shower. She let the hot water run over her as she stood there thinking, her favorite place to think. I have to tell her. If we get back together, she will have to know. I just hope she will look at the fact that I'm not that pony anymore. I know the last meeting was two days ago... wow if I left after that class none of this would have happened. Is this a bad idea? Gosh I love her and wow is she fun in bed. Passionate and she knows how to please a mare like no other. The way she holds me as we cum together... Scootaloo could feel herself begin to heat up between her legs. She shook her head trying to get back to what she was really contemplating. I don't know how to tell her. I lost Rainbow Dash as a sister over this... I lost everything over this. I hate myself. All the horrible things I've done and I just did another and I never wanted to hurt her but I did it again. Still, I think she will understand. Scootaloo left the bathroom and could see Sweetie Belle still laying in bed but awake. "I'm sorry to wake you so early." "It's all right. I just wanted to cuddle a little longer." Sweetie Belle smiled. "There's something I have to tell you -" Scootaloo stopped dead. Sweetie Belle had sat up and was now facing Scootaloo directly. Scootaloo's heart plummeted with sorrow and guilt as she felt tears build behind her eyes. The sight of Sweetie Belle's face, just below her left eye was a crescent shaped scar. Scootaloo held back the tears as she took in the sight. It was the scar she had given Sweetie Belle three years ago. I - I, I'm a monster! I've scarred her in more ways than one. Why didn't I see that before? She must hide it with makeup. "What?" Sweetie Belle asked confused at the sudden change in her lovers actions. "I - I have to go." Scootaloo said and rushed for the door. Sweetie Belle chasing after her. "No! Come back! Scootaloo please." Sweetie Belle began to sob loudly as she saw Scootaloo running to her front door. "We can talk about this. I love you...please, come back." She threw herself on the floor bawling. Scootaloo's heart sank lower and lower with pain as she closed the door to Sweetie Belle's pleading sobs. She braced herself against the wall and let the tears flow. Her mind was filled with sorrow and regrets. Sorrow for what she had done, she could never forgive herself. Regret for coming back into Sweetie Belle's life and breaking her heart again. Her heart stung with a pain she hasn't felt since Sweetie Belle left Ponyville. Scootaloo took a minute to collect herself, she took a breath and composed herself before slumping down the stairs. She left the building and found a taxi to take her back to her hotel. She didn't notice the driver take a longer route or the fact that he over charged her. Her mind was racing and she couldn't focus on anything except the night her and Sweetie Belle broke up. A new emotion took a hold of her, anger. She was angry for what she had done and then did agin. Scootaloo entered her hotel room and slammed the door shut behind her with a good kick. She paced her room her room kicking and stomping. She kicked her suitcase sending it and its contents flying across the room. She saw a small jar fly across the room and smash against the wall. A small bag full of white powdery substance laid on the floor in the debris of the broken jar. She caught sight of the bag and stopped her tantrum, all her rage was replaced with fear. Fear of herself and what may happen next. She wanted it, no, she needed it. Her mind was telling her she needed it, it would make her feel better, make all the pain go away. She held out her hooves to pick it up but she stopped, her hooves shaking. No! I've worked so hard to get off this, I've lost everything. But I can't resist. I must have it. No! Be strong, like they said. The first few weeks will be the toughest, the temptation...why do I even still have this? Scootaloo's face began to sweat as she sat there with her forelegs outstretched, hovering just above the small bag. She dug her forehooves into the floor and pushed herself against the wall, crying. Not knowing what else to do she reached for the phone on the nightstand and dialed. "Hey, I - I'm sorry to bother you - but, but I need help." Scootaloo stammered into the phone, keeping herself pressed against the wall. She listened for a moment. "I'm at the Clydesdale Inn. Room eighteen... Okay. Thank you." She hung up the phone and her gaze turned back to the bag making her body tremble. She would have loved to have thrown it away but she didn't trust herself to touch the bag. She crawled under the bed and buried her face into the floor and sobbed. How long she laid there, she didn't know it seemed like hours could have passed in the solitude and darkness under her bed. There was a knock on the door then it opened and she could see hooves walking her room. They stopped by her bed for a moment then walked into the bathroom. They returned to her bed again. Scootaloo stared at the hooves when a pair of big blue eyes made eye contact with her. She could see the face of a white earth pony looking at her with a worried expression. "Scootaloo, honey. What are you doing under there?" The white earth pony asked in a strong Manehatten accent. "I'm sorry Virtue, I'm - I'm not strong enough. I can't - can't do it." Scootaloo sobbed. "Of course you are. When you first came to me you were bad. Back then you would have had half that up your nose by now. Look at you now. You are fighting it, the temptation, the addiction. I'm proud of you Scoots, I am. Now come out from under there and let's talk about it." Scootaloo slid out from under the bed, her body still shaking slightly. Virtue wrapper her forelegs around Scootaloo, the warm embrace calmed her nerves. "One of the most important steps is removing yourself from that environment. So, why do have that?" Virtue gestured to the bag on the floor. "I - I didn't know I had it. I guess it was some left over that I forgot was hidden in that jar." Scootaloo said nervously. "Honestly." "I believe you. It's okay. I'm glad you called me. One of the reason so many ponies fall back into that vicious cycle is because they are confronted with an issue like this and think they can handle it. I'm not going to tell you what to do, you came to my clinic to get rehabilitated and now you are. I will be here to support you and help you make the right choice and also be a shoulder to cry on." She tighten her grip on Scootaloo. "You did the right ting honey, this stuff will eventually kill you. I lost my sister to it and I almost died myself. I became a counselor and dedicated my life to helping ponies out so they won't have to suffer like I had. In my time there weren't any programs like now but still things happen and you need somepony who can support you in a time of need. I'm here for you Scootaloo. In the meetings you never said too much, you're keeping to much in here." Virtue rubbed her hoof over Scootaloo's chest. "It's time to let it out and let go of that pain, it's holding you back and making you miserable. Believe me, I know it's hard but I know you can do this, I know you are a tough filly." "It's just I've lost the one pony I've always looked up to, she even took me under her wing as a little sister. But she couldn't help me, I couldn't help myself... I was a mess and reckless. She couldn't stand to see me so messed up, she told me until I got help she didn't want me around, it was too painful for her." Scootaloo stopped for a second to take a breath her lips quivering. "Last night I did something really stupid. You see, I stumbled into a random blues lounge downtown and just happen to find my old marefriend, my childhood sweetheart. We, um, went back to her place and umm, well you know..." Scootaloo trailed off. "Had sex?" Virtue asked bluntly. "More like made love. I still love her so much." Scootaloo's eyes started to tear up. "But, I've hurt her. Oh Celestia, I've hurt her. I can never forgive myself. Especially since there's thi - this scar that I - I gave - she has to h-h-hide it with ma-makeup." Scootaloo croaked between sobs then buried her face into Virtue's mane bawling. Virtue held her tight rubbing her shoulder. "That's it, get it all out. This has pained you for a very long time. Only when you confront this pain can the healing process can begin. Now, take a minute to get yourself together and tell me everything." > A Look Into The Past. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo sobbed into Virtue's mane trying to calm herself. She knew Virtue was right, she needed to confide in somepony what has been hurting her for so long. It stung her heart just thinking about it. She could feel pain in her chest, a pain that has been her companion for a long time. It was eating at her soul, her resolve and she needed it gone. The warm embrace of the other mare comforted her and eased the pain. She took a few deep breaths and pulled her face away from Virtue's mane. "Well, let me start at the beginning... I never believed in love at first sight or all that mushy stuff because I thought I was a tough cool filly. I was a tomcolt, I liked to do boy things mostly. Except I always had a crush on this certain unicorn, she was sweet and so adorable although I'd never admit it at the time of course. This unicorn had an amazing singing voice but she was shy so it was truly amazing to hear her sing. Well one day it hit me, like a charging bull, love. I fell for her so hard it drove me insane. I never thought I could love or that love happened like that but it did. As it turned out she really liked me too, like we were meant to be. We stayed together all the way through high school. After is when everything changed...never in a million years would I have imagined doing what I did and if I could go back...I'd give up anything to go back. Everything changed around the time my dad passed away. We weren't very close, he worked long hours as a broker. He was often away from home on business trips but he loved me a lot, I was all he had." Scootaloo paused a little taking a breath. "After he passed away he left me a everything he owned, a more than adequate amount of money and a house and even a condo I didn't know he owned in Canterlot. But I guess that makes sense because it seemed he was there more than at home. Anyway, he left it all to me... except out of the blue my mother shows up with a lawyer to try and claim my inheritance. She left daddy and I long before I can remember. He never talked much about her but I think he said I was maybe a week old when she left. At first I was excited to meet my mother but believe me when I say I'm putting this lightly, she was a bitch, a greedy evil bitch. Cold, calculating...just rotten to the core. She had no interest in me, she barley acknowledged me, she wanted that money. While that was going on, one day my marefriend gets a record contract offer and everything fell apart. My entire life crumbled." * * * Scootaloo paced her room with annoyance. How could she just ignore me like that? How? My own mother! All she wants is daddy's money. She doesn't even know my name. I wish Sweetie were here. Out of anger she kicked her desk, making a loud crash as it slammed against the wall. She froze at the noise it made. I hope daddy didn't hear...oh yeah. Tears filled her eyes and she threw herself on her bed. She heard her bedroom door squeak and open slowly, she heard hooves approaching quietly. "Scoots?" Sweetie Belle's concerned voice called out from behind her. "Hey baby, what wrong?" Sweetie Belle curled herself around Scootaloo on the bed, holding her tight. "Everything." Scootaloo muffled voice replied. I'm so glad she's here. Scootaloo rolled over in Sweetie Belle's grip, letting Sweetie Belle spoon her. She felt Sweetie nuzzle her neck. She let the tears flow, as long as Sweetie Belle couldn't see her cry. "I know it's hard, to lose somepony but it's okay, I'm here for you... and always will be." "That's not it." Scootaloo said trying to keep her voice level. "I - I met my mom today." "Oh?" Sweetie Belle replied, still unsure if it was good news or bad news. "She didn't even know my name. She didn't want to get to know me or know anything about me. She just wanted that money and this house...there's a court date and a judge has to decide if she gets anything." "That's horrible, I'm so sorry Scootaloo." Sweetie Belle kissed Scootaloo's neck and tightened her grip. She could feel Scootaloo shaking and she knew she was crying. "Scoots, look at me." She said softy. Scootaloo wiggled her body and rolled over so she was facing Sweetie Belle. She could see her puffy eyes and tears running down her face. She kissed her on the cheek. "You always know how to make me feel better." Scootaloo said as she rubbed her face against Sweetie Belle's neck, clearing the tears from her eyes. "Of course I do. I'm your fillyfriend, silly." Sweetie Belle said cheerfully. She rubbed her nose against Scootaloo's making her smile, the first time she's smiled in a while. "I'm singing at the Ponyville Lounge tonight. I'll be singing some of your favorite blues songs." "I'd love to go but I have a lot of stuff to do. I have to meet my lawyer in a couple of hours then I'm going like full Twilight mode. I'm going to study all this legal crap. My mom is very legal savy and she's cold and calculating." Scootaloo sighed. "I do love it when you sing the blues, you are amazing." "It's okay, I understand but if you do find the time..." "If I do, I will stop by and be amazed, and with you singing...there's a one hundred percent chance of sex after." Scootaloo smiled and winked. Sweetie Belle smiled seductively at her. "My reward after every show you do, from your number one fangirl." "I have a fangirl? I'd sure like to meet her. I didn't know any fillies were interested in my music." "Oh, there's this one filly... I hear she's pretty cool." Sweetie Belle smiled at that. Scootaloo kissed her on the lips. "I love you Sweetie." "I love you too Scoots." Sweetie Belle smiled at her for a moment. "I'd like to stay and have this fangirl of mine show me just how much she loves my music but I have some things to do before tonight and so do you. I hope I see you tonight." She kissed Scootaloo on the cheek then got up to leave the room. "Will you be all right, honey?" "Yeah, thank you for being there for me." Scootaloo smiled as Sweetie Belle left. Scootaloo jumped awake, the sun was shining in through the kitchen window. She was face down in a book, the page soaked in drool. She pushed the book away and looked at the clock. Noon! Oh no I slept through Sweetie's show and half of today. Why didn't anypony tell me this legal crap was so boring? Just as she was stretching she heard her front door open. "Scoots? Are you in here?" Sweetie Belle's voice called out. "In here." Scootaloo called out. "Sorry I didn't make it last night. I fell asleep reading this stuff." "It's okay." Sweetie Belle said simply. Scootaloo looked at her and could tell she was just bursting with excitement. "How was the show?" "It was amazing! Guess what? This is amazing!" She said happily. "Um what?" Scootaloo giggled a little at her excitement. "I got spotted! I was offered a record deal!" "Sweetie, that's awesome. I knew you could do it." "Yeah, and I'm moving to Manehatten next week -" "What?" Scootaloo said flatly. This is too soon. "You are coming too, of course." "Wha - no, Sweetie I can't just leave." "Scoots, I have it all worked out. We can stay at Sham Song's house, he owns the label...he invited me to stay at his house until I get my own place...I'll just have to ask him about you too. He's going to take me out to the nicest restaurant in town. Oh my gosh Scoots, this is my dream!" Scootaloo just stared at her with a frown. "Sweetie, what the hell are you talking about? I don't want to move to Manehatten. I've got to work out things with my dad's family. Some lived so far away they didn't make the funeral so they're coming next week to pay their respects. My dear old mother showed up out of the blue and now I've got tons of legal issues." Scootaloo said letting her frustration out. "Look Sweetie, it's great you got an offer but the whole thing just sounds weird. Why can't you do it here? Just set up a studio and do all your recordings here?" "Because Manehatten has everything I need and the shows I'm headlining will be in the greater Manehatten area." "I don't like the sound of it. It's too sudden. What did you sign? Why didn't you have a lawyer there?" Scootaloo asked concerned trying to keep her voice level. "Nothing yet. I sign next week. But I looked over the contract, it's pretty standard." Sweetie Belle waved her hoof disregarding Scootaloo's concern. "Damnit Sweetie!" Scootaloo pounded her hoof on the table. "Never sign anything unless you have somepony that knows something about contracts present! My mother's lawyer offered me a contract that looked pretty good too but if I had signed it I would be homeless and on the streets without two bits to rub together." "Scoots, calm down! This is a music contract. Look, I know you can't come to Manehatten now but after things settle down, you could come." "Sweetie, this is insane! This pony sounds like a creep! I may not know music contracts but I've been reading about these things in general. You don't just get a contract like that, you usually sit down with a bunch of lawyers and negotiate terms and conditions.." "He was really nice! Just because your mom tried to take everything from you doesn't mean everypony out there is evil." "No, but think about what you are doing. Think about the whole thing. It makes no sense and just sounds bad. You are too caught up in being a star to see it." "See what Scoots?" Sweetie Belle asked angrily. "Who knows, maybe he'll get you in shows and get your albums out there. But stay at his house, fancy dinner, sign a contract later...it sounds like he's wanting something in return..." "That's ridiculous! You make him out to be some kind of predator! I think you are just jealous!" "Jealous!" Scootaloo shouted letting her anger surface. "I'm trying to protect you! I can't believe you are being this stupid!" "I don't need you to protect me! I can handle things myself. You are just jealous I'm going to be somepony and you are just going to be stuck here in this nowhere town and be nothing!" Sweetie Belle spat furiously. Scootaloo exhaled sharply, Sweetie Belle had stuck her at her core. She bit her tongue fighting the tears. "That's - that's not it Sweetie Belle. Yes, yes I do fear failing but I'm trying to help you see... this is too good to be true." She said softly. "It's not! Ever since your dad died, you've been a real bitch! He's dead! Get over it!" Sweetie Belle shouted in her ear. Scootaloo's body shook uncontrollably, she clenched her jaw and ground her teeth. She raised her foreleg and swung with all her might, her rage. She didn't even feel it make contact with Sweetie Belle's face. How dare she call me that, does she know what I've been going through? How dare she talk of my father like that! He was a great pony, sure he wasn't always around but...Sweetie? Scootaloo jumped back at the sight. Sweetie Belle was lying on the floor in a small puddle of blood. "Sweetie Belle - " She looked at her hoof, a tuff of white fur covered part of it. "I - I'm sorry I would never -" Sweetie Belle got to her feet, blood trickling down her face. She backed away slowly. "Please, Sweetie... It was an accident. Please, don't leave -" Sweetie Belle turned and ran out the door without a backward glance. * * * "Tha, that was the last time we spoke until yesterday." Scootaloo sniffled, her eyes were dry from all the crying. "I can still see the scar. I will never forgive myself. I vowed to never hurt her." "Scootaloo, you have to lean to let go. If you can't forgive yourself, you will never heal." Virtue said softly, still comforting the distraught young mare. "I - can't. Especially if I'm reminded of it." "If you love her, there are two things you can do. One, learn to let go, go back to her. Two, let her go. It isn't fair to her." "Thanks, Virtue. I think I know what to do." > We'll Always Have Ponyville. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo sat in the embrace of Virtue, a feeling of guilt lifted off her back. For the first time in a while she was starting to see things clearly. It was time to move on, she knew this now. Her and Sweetie Belle shared something special but they were just school fillies then. This, this was real life. Somewhere in the process of growing up life became so complicated and the damages became irreparable. She would end it all and go about her life and maybe, just maybe she could lean to love again. In time perhaps... in time. The door to the hotel room swung open and none other than Sweetie Belle walked into the room. How in Equestria did she find me? I never told her where I was staying. Sweetie Belle's frowned as she looked about the trashed room. She saw a suitcase laying upside down against the wall, broken furniture and a small bag in the center of the mess, she almost missed it. She saw Scootaloo in the embrace of another mare and Sweetie Belle felt the blood drain out of her face. "Sweetie? How did you find me?" Scootaloo asked awkwardly. She released herself from Virtue's grip. Without a word Sweetie Belle levitated brown leather saddlebags off her and threw them on the floor, Scootaloo instantly recognized them as hers. "There was a card inside, the front desk told me which room." Sweetie Belle said trying to keep her tone even. She could feel the tears behind her eyes as she eyed the other mare in the room. As Sweetie Belle turned and left the room Scootaloo thought she heard a sob. "Wait Sweetie, I can explain!" Scootaloo yelled. "Go to her Scootaloo and remember all we have talked about. Be strong." Virtue said still sitting in the same spot. "I'll leave my card here. Please call me if you want to talk or need guidance." "Thank you Virtue, you've helped tons." Scootaloo rushed out the door and out of the hotel, she found Sweetie Belle across the street in a park sobbing on a bench. She crossed the road and approached the bench slowly. "What do you want? Just - just leave me alone." Sweetie Belle sobbed harder, tears were running down her pearly white cheeks. "I should have known. I was being stupid. I should have known you had already found somepony else. Somepony to shack up with." Sweetie mumbled bitterly to herelf. "Sweetie please, it's not like that." Scootaloo sat on the bench next to her but she didn't sit too close, she knew Sweetie Belle didn't understand everything yet. Scootaloo had to admit what Sweetie Belle must have seen looked pretty bad. "Let me explain, it's really not how it looks." Sweetie Belle stared at Scootaloo with a blank expression. So much about here was still the rambunctious daredevil she fell in love with but there was also this darkness, this other pony she didn't know. "Okay." She responded flatly. "First off that other mare is my counselor..." Scootaloo trailed off, she wasn't sure where to begin. "Okay" Sweetie Belle said in the same flat tone. "Do you want to know why I came to Manehatten? Scootaloo asked abruptly. Sweetie Belle's fake apathy was getting the best of her. "After I was forced to leave the circus I was torn up inside. I lost you, I lost the circus and yeah I just didn't care anymore. I started hanging out with a bad crowd and I got addicted to some really bad stuff. It started at parties you know, just to have a bit of fun. It made the pain go away and I could be me again, what I thought was me. It wasn't. It took a hold of me and it came to the point where I couldn't stop, I needed it. I spiraled pretty low, I was out of control. I didn't care if I lived or not, I had hit rock bottom. Rainbow Dash tried to help, she did everything she could." Scootaloo paused as a tear ran down her cheek before she continued. "All those nights she stayed up to find a way to help me. I called her a lot of horrible things but she didn't leave my side. All those nights she took me in to keep me safe because I was passed out in some alleyway. She finally told me if I couldn't help myself then she couldn't help me and it was too painful for her see me slowly killing myself." Scootaloo paused again as more tears flowed from her. "As I watched her fly away, I had that moment of clarity as they call it in recovery. I realized I had truly lost everything. I hopped on a the next train and ended up here. I checked myself into a rehab and that's where I was. My last meeting was two days ago and as you can see from in my room I'm still having trouble. But I never touched it, I called my counselor, Virtue for support." Scootaloo felt a foreleg warp around her neck and a body against hers. She looked at Sweetie Belle's crying eyes. "Scootaloo, I'm so sorry. You've been though a lot." Sweetie Belle couldn't believe what she had just heard. It frightened her to know this dark past of Scootaloo. She felt like this was all her fault. I should have never left Ponyville. As much as it scared her, she admired her bravery, her strong will. That was the Scootalo she knew and loved. The one that overcame all odds, the one that never gave up. "Not your fault Sweetie." "Why did you run away this morning?" "You don't know?" Scootaloo asked. Sweetie Belle shook her head. Scootaloo touched Sweetie Belle's face with her hoof right under her left eye where she knew a scar was concealed by makeup. Tears rolling down Scootaoo's face as she held her face. "I did the most horrible thing. Everything around me was changing too quickly, I couldn't cope. My daddy died, my mother trying to steal everything he owned and you - you running off to Manehatten with some shady pony, I just snapped." "Scoots, I was horrible to you, I got what I deserved. What I said... If I could take it back you know I would. I was so stupid, blinded by my ambitions. I never stopped to think you were looking out for me, I never even considered your emotions, what you were going though at the time. It took me longer than it should have to realize you were right all along. For that I'm so sorry." She tightened her grip on Scootaloo and nuzzled her neck. "I should have never hit you." Scootaloo said as she looked at the ground. "We both messed up pretty badly but after last night, I know we got caught up in lust but I think we could possibly start over." "I - I want to Sweetie, I just don't know. You wouldn't want me. I'm pretty messed up and you deserve somepony better" "Shhh, hey back there you had a choice and you chose not to go back down that road of misery. You are strong Scootaloo and I'm proud of you." Sweetie Belle rested her head on Scootaloo's shoulder an closed her eyes. "You are still the same Scootaloo I fell in love with, damaged and down trotted but the same nonetheless. I hope we can go back to the way we used to be, lovers. But it's me that doesn't deserve you. If we took it slow this time... you don't have to decide right now." She kissed Scootalo on the cheek. "At least we'll always have Ponyville." > Soul Mates. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo sat in silence with Sweetie Belle for what seemed liked hours. She couldn’t believe what Sweetie Belle has asked. After all this time, all the hurtful things that were said and done, she wanted her back. Deep down, Scootaloo wanted her too. Yet she feared that too much damage had been done, too much pain on both sides. To Scootaloo there was nothing like that love she felt for Sweetie Belle when they were just school fillies. The sun was setting and Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle sat on the bench watching ponies pass through the park in silence. There was nothing to say. She knew where Sweetie Belle stood and she had a decision to make. It was simple one yet hard for her as she contemplated her life and all bad decisions she had made. It came down to one thing; did she trust herself to not make the same mistakes she had before? She didn’t know and that scared her. “Well Scoots, I have to work early tomorrow. I’m glad we got to talk. I hope to see you tomorrow.” Sweetie Belle stood up from the bench reluctantly. She looked at Scootaloo as if she may never see her again before walking away. Scootaloo wanted to say something as she watched her walk away but her sudden abruptness left her speechless. I love you Sweetie, always have and always will. Scootaloo left the park and returned to her hotel room. She sighed at the wrecked state of the room and began gathering her belongings and stuffing them back in her suitcase. She grabbed the bag in the middle of the room carefully and rushed into the bathroom and flushed it. Proud of her self, Scootaloo collapsed on her bed and fell asleep. Scootaloo woke later than she wanted to. She felt refreshed, the previous day was traumatic to say the least but it brought closure to a lot of pain she had endured over the years. The thing that still puzzled her was Sweetie Belle, she still wanted her back. Scootaloo racked her brains of the days leading up to their horrible break up. That was three years ago...and since then I was a complete and total mess. She wants to start over then we just sit there. Why didn't I say something? There was nothing to say... then she just walks away. I don't think I can go back to her, I love her but I love a memory of her. Tears began to roll down Scootaloo's face as she rolled out of bed and began to pack her things. She knew Sweetie Belle deserved better than a washed out addict in recovery, she deserved somepony better than her, one that wasn't so self destructive and unstable. I should at least say goodbye to her, I owe her that... The taxi ride to the east side of Manehatten took no time at all. She paid the driver then walked down the street where she knew Sweetie Belle worked. She passed the blues lounge she met Sweetie Belle in a few days ago. She stopped to look inside but it was closed. Sweetie said she worked in the shop at the corner... Scootaloo stood at an intersections, searching for a music shop. There were many small shops at the intersection and none stood out as a music shop. "Excuse me, I was wondering if you knew of a music shop around here?" Scootaloo asked a random passing pony. "There's one over there." The pony pointed across the intersection. "I've heard good things about it but very expensive." "Thank you." Reaching the music shop, Scootaloo paused at the door. She took a second to reconsider her decision. She imagined they could live together and have a nice house and be lovers again. That fleeting of fantasy shattered upon one look at herself through the reflection in the glass. She peered beyond her reflection, she could see Sweetie Belle using her magic to move a large grand piano. Scootaloo sighed, well, here goes...something. She pushed the door open and strode inside. "Hi there! Welcome to Pianos And More, we sell pianos and, well everything else too. I'm Coda shop owner and my assistant is best piano tuner in Equestria. Is there anything I can help you with?" Scootaloo shook her head as she was greeted by a over zealous light blue unicorn with a pink mane. The shop was much bigger than it appeared from the outside and there was a second floor where she could make out pianos and various other instruments. She noticed Sweetie Belle was still in the back trying to move the same grand piano. "Um, yeah. I was just hopping to speak with Sweetie Belle." Scootaloo watched as Coda's expression changed from confused to sudden understanding. "Oh, Sweetie has told me all about you. She was right, you are good looking, that flank -" Coda stopped talking abruptly, blushing a little. "Oh Sweetie, a certain somepony is here to see you!" She called out. There was a loud crash and a loud clang that rang out through the air as Sweetie Belle turned her head, letting the piano fall. It only fell a few inched but it made enough noise everypony had to cover their ears. "Sorry. Scoots! You came to visit my work!" Sweetie Belle squeaked with excitement. Scootaloo's heart fluttered, she thought it was the cutest thing when Sweetie Belle squeaked like that This just got a lot harder and will that Coda pony stop checking me out? "Can we um talk?" "Oh...yeah. We can use the office upstairs." Sweetie Belle said, the excitement leaving her voice. Scootaloo followed Sweetie Belle upstairs into a small office. There was a single desk and a couch, the walls were cluttered with pictures of Coda standing with various ponies, Sweetie Belle appeared in a few and some awards Coda has won. She turned her attention to Sweetie Belle, her eyes were locked on Scootaloo with a look of hopefulness. Scootaloo took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Sweetie, I love you, always have and always will. I don't think I could love anypony like I do you. I know you have forgiven me but the fact remains that I can't forgive myself. What I did was horrible and right now... I'm a mess. You have something good here, really good. I don't want to mess that -" "Scoots, what are you saying?" Sweetie Belle asked, tears began to roll down her cheeks. "I'm saying it can't work Sweetie, as much as I want it to -" "No, it can... just give it a try." "I - I wish I could but it's not fair to you, to keep you hanging on like this. I don't want to mess up what you got here. All that music for a big time production coming up... you will be a star." "But that's where I went wrong and I lost you, I would throw it all away for you but I guess you already made up your mind." Sweetie Belle lowered her head, she held back the tears. She knew fighting was pointless, Scootaloo came here to say goodbye after all. "I do have one last request Sweetie... let me look into those big green eyes of yours." Sweetie Belle looked up, her eyes connected with Scootaloo's. Those big green eyes, mostly what made Scootaloo fall in love with her. "Goodbye Sweetie Belle, I love you and always will be your number one fan." Scootaloo's eyes teared up as she leaned in a kissed Sweetie Belle on the cheek before leaving the office. She left the shop quickly and let her tears flow. She remembered all the good times they had together, she remembered the Sweet Apple Acres Cider Gala and all the crazy events leading up to that. She smiled at the warm memory, one of her favorite and most happy times with her. She collected herself and walked the streets a little, she stuck out a hoof to flag down an oncoming taxi. "Where ya headed?" A scruffy stallion asked in a think Manehatten accent. "To the Clydesdale Inn then to Manehatten Central Station, I'll pay double if you hurry." Scootaloo said as she climbed into the taxi. "Skippin town eh? Where are you in such a hurry to get to?" "Just shut up and drive!" Scootaloo snapped annoyed. Don't want to deal with this crap now... The cap driver rolled his eyes and broke into a canter. Sweetie Belle sat on the couch in the small office, her face against the arm rest as she wept softly. She had a feeling this was going to happen but she wished it hadn't. Her heart ached no matter how much she had prepared herself. Scootaloo's farewell words struck at her core destroying all the mental strength she had mustered. There was a small gleam of hope in her heart that she would find Scootaloo at one of the Bridleway preformances, knowing that Scootaloo would probably go to a show she wrote the music for. Sweetie Belle's ears perked up as she heard the sound of hooves coming up the stairs. She knew Coda was coming up to check on her. She didn't bother to wipe her tears and pretend everything was fine, she knows everything anyways... "Sweetie darling, is everything all right?" Coda called out. There was a soft knock at the door before she walked in. "Aw Sweetie, what's wrong?" Coda sat down next to Sweetie Belle wrapping a foreleg around her. "Scootaloo is gone." Sweetie Belle said sadly. "Gone gone?" Sweetie Belle nodded. "Where did she go?" "Who knows, probably catching the next train out of here." "Well, there's still time! If you leave now...here I'll give you bits for the taxi." "No point -" "Sweetie! Don't say such things. You two belong together. You both messed up, I get it but after three years she just happens to walk into that blues lounge? Call me a hopeless romantic but that's no coincidence, you two are soul mates." "She can't forgive herself, I don't think she ever will." "You told me she lost all of those close to her. It sounds like she's a little lost. She needs you and you need her. I think, deep down, you know that too." Coda rubbed Sweetie Belle's shoulder. "Now, go get your mare." "But I work until three today." Sweetie Belle said quietly. "Not today you don't, this is more important... I'm not going to fire you." "But -" "Not buts Sweetie. Besides I was going to send you home anyway, there hasn't been a customer all day. Now, hurry. Before she gets away." Manehatten Grand Central was an enormous station with high arched ceilings and massive marble pillars. Scootaloo stood in line to purchase a ticket as she gawked at the sight of the station. No matter how many times she had been there, she always had to just stare at the ceiling like the many tourists. "Next!" An impatient voice yelled. Scootaloo jerked her head and moved to the counter. "Where to?" The pony behind the counter asked in the same impatient voice. "Doesn't matter, I'll take the next train going anywhere." "Hmmm, Ponyville platform three leaves in ten minutes." . "Umm, except there. Anywhere except there." "I thought you said it didn't matter!" The pony behind the counter barked. "Appaloosa platform nine, leaves in thirty minutes." "Okay." "Thirty bits... thank you - next!" Scootaloo stumbled away from the counter quickly, ticket in her mouth. The sales pony gave her no time to put her ticket away in her saddlebag. Hmm, platform 4...platform 6 and there's 8. So, even numbers are on this side and odd numbered ones are where? Ugh I hate this place! Scootaloo spun on the spot trying to locate her platform. Aha, a map! She approached it eagerly. Okay, I am here then it must be...oh of course all way back by where I came in at... dumb train station. It was a long walk to the other side of the station but after much wlking, she found her platform. Boarding in ten minutes, nice. Manehatten Central was busier than ever, there were ponies from all over. Some were just families and others were groups of friends, there were also ponies in business suits rushing about. Scootaloo sat and observed the train station letting her mind wander. She knew very little about Appaloosa, in fact she had never even been there. It was perfect, she had it all worked out in her head, Appaloosa was the perfect place to start over... a brand new life. Scootaloo shook her head, she had been staring into space while imagining her new life. Only thing was, she thought she caught a glance at a certain white unicorn. She scanned the crowd again but didn't see anypony she knew. Mind is playing tricks on me... good thing I'm leaving. Scootaloo noticed the train began boarding, she got in line behind a croup of ponies trying to get on. She kept her eyes forward and her mind focused on what a possible form of employment would be in Appaloosa when her thoughts were interrupted. "Scootaloo!" An unmistakable squeaky voice screamed out. She turned her head to see Sweetie Belle charging toward her at a full canter. In spite of everything Scootaloo smiled, Sweetie Belle was just so cute when she ran. "Scootaloo wait, please!" She halted in front of Scootaloo panting. "Please don't leave me Scoots, I love you and I need -" "Sweetie Belle, why did you come after me? You are making this harder -" "Do you know what my day is like?" Sweetie asked abruptly cutting Scootaloo off. "Um, no not-not really." Scootaloo said taken aback. "I get up every day and work in the music shop until three in the afternoon then I go home and write music. Sometimes I go to the blues lounge to sing then I go back to writing music. I make it so I am always doing something because I know that if I stop long enough I'll be reminded of how lonely I am. We are soul mates, meant to be together... and I know you can't forgive yourself but you have to let go honey, I'll be patient with you, I'll love you and take care of you. Scoots, I know you feel that loneliness too and if you get on that train you will always be lonely. I love you Scootaloo, more than anything, please don't leave me." Scootaloo stared at Sweetie Belle with a look of surprise as tears ran down her cheeks. She had never heard anything more beautiful before. She had never heard Sweetie Belle pour her heart out or be that direct before. Sweetie Belle had given her something to think about, she had never thought of them being soul mates but it made sense to her. They had been through a lot together and somehow fate decided they weren't over and put them together in that blues lounge. Scootaloo glanced at the train then back at Sweetie Belle's pouty eyes. It's that damn cuteness, wins every time. She smiled at Sweetie Belle and kissed her on the cheek. She whispered in Sweetie Belle's ear, "I won't leave you, Sweetie, never again." > Reunion. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- For years to come Scootaloo will never understand what made her stay with Sweetie Belle. She was so set on leaving and starting over, again. Whatever the reasons were, she didn't regret her decision to stay for a second. It had been two months since the time at the train station and Scootaloo couldn't be happier. Sure, the two months haven't always been easy but Sweetie Belle was patient and understanding. There was no way she deserved Sweetie Belle but she wasn't going to let her go, not again. She loved Sweetie Belle with all her heart and was glad to have let her back in her life. "Will you settle down Scoots, we will be there soon." Sweetie Belle snapped out of irritation at Scootaloo's constant pacing. "Sorry, just really nervous." Scootaloo returned to her seat. Her and Sweetie Belle were on the train returning to Ponyville. She felt Sweetie Belle's foreleg rub her shoulder and pull her into a embrace. "I know but everything will turn out fine." Sweetie Belle kissed Scootaloo's cheek then rested her head against her marefriend's shoulder. Scootaloo relaxed a little but the idea of returning to her home scared her. The last time she was there were some of her worst times. She wondered what Apple Bloom would say and most importantly of all, the one who was always there for her. The one pony she always looked up to and pushed away... Rainbow Dash. Last time we were together was me at my worst. I just hope she forgives me for hurting her... As long as I have Sweetie with me. "Yeah, I guess... as long as you are by my side, I'll be fine." Scootaloo rested her head on top of Sweetie Belle's. "I love you." "Love you too." They sat in each other's embrace in the silence. All that could be heard was the rhythmic clacking as the wheels rolled along the track. All too soon the time between the rhythmic clacking slowed to dull thunks as the train pulled into Ponyville. Well, here goes nothing. Reluctantly Scootaloo got to her feet after Sweetie Belle and exited to the platform. The town looked the same as it always did, Nothing changes. Scootaloo led the way down the road to her house. As she took a turn down one of the main roads, Sugarcube Corner came into view. Waves of nostalgia came crashing over her, all those good times with her friends after school, all those dates with Sweetie Belle. Those were the days, she smiles to herself. The front door to Sugarcube Corner opened and a purple alicorn stepped out closely followed by a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane. Scootaloo stopped dead in her tracks. Her heart rate skyrocketed. Twilight and Rainbow Dash both stopped upon seeing a wide eyed Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle smiling sweetly. Oh Celsestia, I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry Rainbow. Please just let me explain... Twilight broke the silence first. "Umm, I'll just go back to the library. I'll see you tonight Rainbow." She grinned awkwardly before walking away rapidly. Scootlaoo felt a hoof nudging her toward Rainbow Dash. She automatically walked forward, as if she had no control of her actions. Stopping a few feet away she could clearly see the pegasus was conflicted with emotions. "Squirt." Rainbow Dash said slowly, her voice cracking a little. Scootaloo was sure she could see her eyes watering. Scootaloo couldn't take it any longer. Her heart was pounding and tears were building up behind her eyes. After hearing Rainbow Dash's voice, she lost all control and completely broke down. Tears were rolling down her face, she was sobbing uncontrollably. She felt somepony hug her tight. "Hey, it's okay kid. It's good to see you." "I-I th-though you w-wouldn't want to see m-m a-again." Scootaloo buried her face in Rainbow Dashes mane, soaking it with her tears. "Nonsense. I've been so worried about you. I know last we spoke I said some really horrible things and kicked you out. But I always thought you'd come right back, I was worried sick. I didn't know what to do but somehow I knew you were all right. I'm glad to see you, little sister." "Oh, Rainbow. I'm so sorry. I was a mess, I was horrible to you. If I could take back -" Rainbow Dash put a hoof over Scootaloo mouth. "Shh, it's okay. We are sisters, maybe not blood related but sisters none the less. I will always love you." She tightened her grip on Scootaloo. "And is that Sweetie Belle? Are you two back together?" "Yep, we are." Sweetie Belle said wiping tears from her eyes. She too had been crying while witnessing Scootaloo's reunion with her sister. "So exciting! I knew you guys were perfect fore each other! Almost like soul mates!" Rainbow Dash gulped loudly. "Not that I believe in that lame stuff." "So you and Twilight?" Scootaloo asked slyly, still in Rainbow Dashes tight embrace. "I'm dating an egghead, a sexy one too." The three of them giggled a little. "Anyway, what are you two doing here?" "We are moving back to Ponyville. Manehatten is expensive and I can't stand Sweetie's crappy apartment any longer." "Awesome! I was wondering what you were going to do with that house. I'm glad you guys are back." Scootaloo sat comfortably in Rainbow Dash's hold. Memories of the past were still strong in her mind and she knew they were strongly occupying Rainbow Dash's mind too. Regardless Rainbow Dash was happy to see her, something that Scootaloo took comfort in. There was still lots of bonding that needed to be done, lots of happy memories to be made to make up for all the bad times. There was also making things right with Apple Bloom... but for right now she was happy where she was. Safe and sound with Rainbow Dash holding her tight.
