> The PonyVille Chronicles > by Platen Rhyme > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Seeking an Angel (Chapter 1) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “And from then on, the brave dragon learned to never steal again, the end.” Twilight closed the book and slipped it in the vacant slot of her bookshelf. She set Spike, who was fast asleep, on her back and took him upstairs to tuck him in before continuing her research on the recent strange happenings in Ponyville. As her eyes scanned the page in her book she heard a thud on her wall. She stepped outside but didn’t see anything weird. She shrugged and trotted back inside to study. Thirty minutes and one hundred and fifty pages later, Twilight was face first in her book, catching z’s and snoring cutely. Eight hours have gone by, and Twilight batted her eyes open only to see the books lining the wall. She felt a struggle below her so she stood up only to discover Spike laying on the floor catching his breathe. “Spike? What were you doing under me? I tucked you in last night.” He took a few seconds to regain his breathe before being able to make out his sentence. “I.... I saw you asleep on the floor and I tried taking you to your room but, as you can see it didnt’t work so well”. Twilight giggled and kissed his cheek. “Thanks Spike, thats very sweet”. Spike blushed and ran upstairs nervously. Twilight smiled and shook her head. “Weirdo”. Her shaking was interupted by a soft knock on her door. She approached her door and used her magic to pull it open, before she could see who it was, Fluttershy zoomed past her and fell to the floor. Fluttershy was trembling with fear and sadness. Twilights smile was quickly wiped off her face and she walked over to her friend. “Whats wrong Fluttershy? I’ve never seen you like this.” Fluttershy wiped the tears from her cheek and looked up at Twilight. “Oh Twilight! It’s Angel! He didn’t come out for breakfast and I couldn’t find him anywhere!” Twilight helped Fluttershy up onto her hooves. Twilight assured her friend, ‘Fluttershy i’m sure he’s fine, but where could he have gone?” Fluttershy became filled with worry again. “He’s such a small bunny and Equestria is a big place, he could be anywhere.” Twilight set her hoof on Fluttershy’s shoulder and smiled. “Don’t worry Fluttershy, i’ll help you find Angel.” Fluttershy threw her arms around Twilight and squeezed her tight. “Oh thank you thank you thank you Twilight!” Twilight smiled and gently pushed Fluttershy off of her. “What are friends for?” They headed out the door and followed the dirt walkway through town, checking every nook and cranny, seeking an Angel. As they passed Fluttershy’s house Twilight couldn't help but ask, “Are you sure Angel isn’t back home?” Fluttershy Nodded. “I was almost positive, I mean, I guess he could have come back home by now.” As she ended her sentence, the two were crushed by a pony that had somehow fallen from the sky, before they had time to see who it was, the pony was gone. Twilight helped Fluttershy up and shook her head. “C’mon Fluttershy, lets check your house one more time.” Fluttershy smiled and approached to entrance to her house. She pushed the door slowly with her hoof and slowly called out for her lost bunny. ‘Angel? Angel? Are you here?” Out of the blue, a small white fuzzball came bouncing in from the other room. Fluttershy zoomed into the house and squeezed her Angel. “Oh Angel! Im so glad you’re here! I missed you so much!” Twilight smiled at the scene of her happy, smiling friend. She had learned a lot with one mental image, friends may not need help, but sometimes they need you to tell them that. Twilight opened the door, “Come on Fluttershy, lets get some rest, we need to cheer on Rainbow Dash tomorrow.” Twilight stayed with Fluttershy for the night to keep her company and leave together in the morning. > Flying Lessons (Chapter 2) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Go Rainbow Dash!!!” Pinkie cheered on her her pegasus friend with such magnitude it shook Rainbow Dash off flight balance. She spiraled out of control and crash landed into two unexpected ponies. She was so scared that the crash would label her as, once again, Rainbow Crash, she soared into the sky before they could notice. Pinkie shouted, “That was an amazing crash Rainbow Dash!” Rainbow Dash sighed. “I’ll never be ready for Ponyville’s pegasus competition.” Pinkie gasped until her lungs were like balloons. “What?!!? You’re Rainbow Dash! The greatest flyer in all of Equestria and you dont think you can do it?!!?” Pinkie took deep breathes as Rainbow Dash stared at her, not knowing how to react. “Of course I know i’m the greatest of all time, but i’m just not feeling it Pinkie.” Rainbow Dashed told her. Rainbow Dash shot up into the sky and dive bombed the gound attempting her legendary sonic rainboom. She stretched the space around her but she couldn’t brek through. She was thrown back onto the grass. She shook her head and opened her eyes only to see Pinkie above her. Pinkie looked down into Rainbow Dashes eyes. “Wow, I guess you really aren't ready." Rainbow Dash facehoofed and sighed. “Thanks Pinkie.” Pinkie bounced around her friend and started humming loudly. Rainbow Dash pulled herself up. “Maybe we should continue later Pinkie.” Pinkie replied quite happily. “Okie okie Lokie!” Rainbow Dash wiped the dirt off herself. She was nowhere near ready and the competition was tomorrow, she needed to train harder. Pinkie stopped in mid bounce, hovering above the ground. “I know how you can get ready in time!” Rainbow Dash looked at her friend. “And what would that be Pinkie?” Pinkie squinted her eyes. “A montage.” 80’s music started playing, Rainbow dash took off from the strt line and U-turned around a tree zipping past the finish as Pinkie clicked her stop watch. She shook her head at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash started doing push ups with Pinkie on her back. Rainbow Dash started punching the bags of dough hanging in the back of Sugar Cube Corner. She then did other stuff that happens in 80’s training montages, ending with her zooming past the finish line and Pinkie Nodding happily at her time. “You’re ready.” Later that night, Rainbow Dash was laying in her bed enjoying one of her favorite Daring Do books for the tenth time. She closed the book after finishing the last page and sighed . “You got this Rainbow Dash, you can do this, believe in yourself!” She set the book on her giant stack of Daring Do books and switched off her light, rest was a must if she was going to compete in the morning. Eight hours flew by, Rainbow Dash awoke to the sound of a rooster down on Sweet Apple Acres. She rolled out of bed full of energy, today was the day to prove herself worthy to Ponyville, and most of all, impress the judges who were the one and only, Wonderbolts. She got her hair ready and flew down to the competition grounds where Pinkie was waiting. “Good! You made it!” Pinkie shouted as she saw Rainbow Dash walking towards her. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” As she ended her sentence, the rest of her friends came walking up with big smiles. After a few good lucks and hugs, it was time. Rainbow Dash flew through hoops and pulled sone corkscrews, but it was a dead tie between her and a newcomer to this years competition. It was sudden death, Rainbow Dash and her competitor lined up at the starting gate, the race was a simple race to the tree and back, she had it in the bag. The gun shot echoed, the two bolted off the line. They raced neck and neck all the way to the tree, but Her competitor was slowly taking the lead on the way back. Rainbow Dash put all her might into speed and started catching up. “Its a close neck and neck race!” The announcer cried out. Rainbow Dash pushed one last time and to everyone surprise, she stretched the space around her and tore through. It exploded into a wave of colors and brightness, throwing her competitor off balance and awed the crowd. She soared past the Finish line as the crowd cheered as loud as they could. Rainbow Dash stopped with a huge smile as the crowd picked her up and brought her to the podium. as she stood with pride and a gold medal around her neck, the Wonderbolts approached her. “I’ve flown a lot of years but that was the greatest flying i’ve seen. You can fly with us any day.” Rainbow Dash smiled and looked over to her friends who were all cheering her on along with the crowd. Not a single mug of apple cider could make her any happier. > Sports-mare-ship (Chapter 3) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Ugh, no. I need a new fabric. This just wont do.” Rarity tosses the old fabric and pulls out 5 strips of maroon silk. She looks at the strips. “Ew, it reminds me of the god awful garage band down by the spa.” She set the fabric back as Sweetie Belle burst through the door followed by Scootaloo ans Apple Bloom. Before she could ask what kind of rush they were in, the Cutie Mark Crusaders bolted upstairs giggling with an over abundence of happiness. She shrugged it off and continued her work. She heard the door open once more. She sighed and yelled, “In or out you three.” She turned to see her friend Applejack standing in the doorway. “By three I hope you mean the little ones.” Applejack said. She set her hat on the rack set beside the door and walked up to Rarity. Applejack peered at her newest project. “Designing for PonyVille’s annual fashion show I presume?” Applejack asked. Rarity nodded her head delightfully. “And this year I will be showcasing the years hottest new trends!” Applejack smiled. “I’m sure it will be.” Rarity quickly looked away from her project and back to Applejack. “Oh! By the way darling, I wanted to tell somepony something but I wasn’t sure who.” Applejack looked at Rarity. “Well what is it?” Rarity put some cloth away and focused back on her friend. “Well yesterday I was reading Sweetie Belles story they are supposed to write for school. To sum it up her story was about her becoming an Alicorn that was immune to all magic and was needed to save the world from Crystalis, Discord, and Nightmare Moon. At the same time!” Applejack’s eyes widened. “Wow Rarity, thats awful. Just the whole idea is terrible.” Rarity nodded in agreement. “And i’m starting to think that, she doesn’t see me as a role model. I saw the three last night pretending to be Derpy and they shot Scootaloo into Twilight's library using Pinkies confetti cannon.” Applejack smirked. “Is that it sugarcube? That's no reason to feel down. They’re fillies just having some fun is all.” Rarity sighed. “I guess you’re right Applejack, i’m letting it get the best of me.” Rarity smiled and gave her friend a hug. They smiled at each other before both of their eyes shot open. “Rainbows competition!” They yelled in unison as they rushed out the door to make it to Rainbow Dash’s competition on time. Applejack grabbed her hat as Rarity shut the door. As they approached the competition grounds they met up with Fluttershy and Twilight. They all walked over to where Pinkie Pie and Rainbow were waiting for the competition to start. They all gave their good lucks before Rainbow Dash was called to her first event. Applejack and Rarity left the other two to grab some Cider from Granny Smiths stand. As they waited in line, they over heard two mares talking about the competition. “I can’t believe they let rainbow Crash into the competition. They must have had no choice.” One of the mares stated. Rarity’s eyes filled with anger and took a step towards the mares only to be stopped by Applejacks hoof. “Rarity calm it. They’ll see where they’re wrong when Rainbow whoops their tail hairs.” Rarity stepped back in line and glared at the two. Nopony talked about her friend that day. One of the mares noticed Rarity’s glaring and they both approached Rarity. “What are you looking at?” The reddish mare asked. “Its just that nopony talks about my dearest friend Rainbow Dash that way.” She tried her best not to show any anger. The mare laughed. “You’re friends with Rainbow Crash? I don’t know if I feel bad for her or you.” Rarity had it. Her eyes filled with rage as she tackled the mare and they rolled around in a cloud of dust and hooves flying. Applejack stopped the two and threw them away from each other, every pony staring. “What in tar-nation are y’all doing? We came here to cheer on our friends but instead you two are fighting over who’s best? Thats what the competition is for, to show who's best.” Rarity got up and fixed her mane before walking away, eyeing the mare in the corner of her eye. Applejack and Rarity returned to their friends just in time for the last event. A sudden death race between the two tied leaders. Rainbow Dash and her opponent lined up and as the gun shot blasted they bolted off the line. Rarity and Twilight had to be cheering the loudest. The race got close, Rainbow started dropping back. Applejack and her friends all got worried, Rainbow Dash had never lost before. All they could hope is that she could catch up. It was the final stretch, Rainbow put her last effort into catching up. All of the sudden there was a boom and bright flash. She had did it, a sonic rainboom. The crowed awed as her friends cheered loudly as Rainbow Dash zipped throught the finish. “YeeHaw!” Applejack cheered. The crowd surrounded Rainbow Dash and lifted her to the pedestal. After the awards ceremony, Rainbow Dash found her friends, she was full of excitement. They all gave her congats and hugs. It started getting late, Fluttershy and Twilight had already headed home and Rainbow was staying to hang out with the Wonderbolts. It was only Applejack and Rarity. Rarity gave her friend a hug. “Thanks Applejack, without you I would have lost my temper even more than I did, I wasn’t very sports-mare-like.” Applejack nuzzled her friend. “Don't mention it, now go play with your sister, show her what kind of role model you are.” Rarity smiles and nods before turning and heading home. Applejack started walking and out of nowhere Pinkie bounced out of a bush. “Boo!” Pinkie yelled and giggle snorted. Applejack jumped and dropped her hat but didn’t say a word. She sighed and picked up her hat. “Go home Pinkie.” Applejack continued walking. Pinkie giggled some more. “Thats all folks!”
