> The Separation of an Apple and a Rainbow > by rainbowshy459 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Separation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a beautiful day at Canterlot High. The sky was brilliant, blue, and clear. Everything was beautiful and blissful for everyone. For everyone, except for Applejack, who was crying in the girls' bathroom. Applejack had a crumpled up letter in her hand, little droplets of liquid raining down on the paper. The letter read: Dear, Applejack Please don't hate me for this. My mom came last night, you know that part. But, remember when mom said I was leaving? Well, she wasn't lying. I had to leave my job, my school, my life, and most of all, I had to leave you. Please don't hate me, I didn't want to leave you, I had to. I really didn't want to. I really didn't. So, please, don't hate me forever. I love you. Love, Dashie 'Dashie'. That word echoed in Applejack's mind as she held the paper close to her chest. "Ah love ya. Ah love ya so much." Applejack whispered as the door slowly opened. Applejack didn't care if she was seen crying. She really didn't. "Yo, AJ what's...what's wrong." A girl's voice rang as the door clicked close. Applejack opened her eyes to see an orange girl with red and yellow hair. "Oh, hey Sunset..." "Applejack, i'm reformed, I won't make fun of you, so tell me." Sunset Shimmer said as she slid her arm around Applejack, while Applejack laid her head on Sunset's shoulder. "Just read this here paper." Applejack said as she handed the crumpled up paper to Sunset as she hugged her knees close to her chest. Sunset straightened the paper so she could read it. When she was finished, a single tear slid down her cheek as she embraced Applejack. "I...I'm sorry, Applejack. I really am." "Don't be, and don't hate RD, either. It ain't her fault." Applejack said as an image of Rainbow Dash came into her mind and her lips spread into a shaky smile. "Applejack, you need to stop her from leaving. Or you'll lose her." Sunset said as she gestured to the paper. "But, what if she already left? Ah don't even know HOW she's leaving." Applejack stared at the paper with utter dismay. She got up from the bathroom floor and walked out of the door. "Ah'm gonna go home." --- "The Separation of an Apple and a Rainbow" A My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Fanfiction by Rainbowshy459 2014 All characters and referred properties belong to Hasbro --- Applejack laid on her bed in her room, fiddling with a silver bracelet with 6 hearts dangling from it, all different colors. It made her smile as she remembered how she met Rainbow Dash --- Applejack was in SugarCube corner, gorging herself on Ice Cream and MilkShakes. "How could that jerk break up with me? For Paige Parker none the less..." Applejack muttered, spooning more ice cream into her mouth. "Alright, now, let's give a warm welcome to... Rainbow and the Shine Girls!" An announcer said as curtains parted to reveal a silver-haired girl, a yellow-orange haired girl, and a cyan girl with multicolored hair. The cyan girl caught Applejack's gaze. The cyan girl started singing, "The day started ordinary, boys walk by..." The cyan girl was singing with the most beautiful voice the farm girl had ever heard, or was she just hyper? The cyan girl had turned, and she was about to fall off the stage. Applejack dashed to the stage and caught her as her head was about to hit the floor. The cyan girl continued to sing."And now i'm falling for ya, falling for ya, I know I shouldn't but I just can't stop my self from falling for ya, falling for ya. Can't hold on any longer, and now i'm falling for you." the cyan girl delicately kissed Applejack's nose. "You saved my head. I'm... Rainbow Dash." the cyan girl said as Applejack set her down on the floor, her high heels clicking as they hit the ground. Applejack stared into her eyes, which were shining bright with a rosy aura. "Ah'm Applejack. Ya got some nice pipes." Applejack mentally slapped herself. Stupid. Luckily, Rainbow didn't think the same. "Thanks. I like your accent." Rainbow nervously giggled as she noticed the entire bar was watching them. One of the waiters 'awed' at the scene. "And that's Rainbow and the Shine Girls." The announcer said as he lead the two girls behind the curtain, the silver-haired girl winking at Rainbow. Rainbow giggled, then turned back to Applejack. --- Applejack smiled, then a tear slid down her cheek as her eyes flew to a picture of Rainbow that was on her nightstand, then her phone rang, and she recognized the number, it was Fluttershy's number. "Hello" "Can I come over, my parents are fighting, again." Fluutershy's voice trembled and cracked. Applejack answered "Of course ya can." A few hours passed before Fluttershy arrived, her cheeks stained with tears. Applejack tried to wipe hers away as she realized she needed to be strong for her friend. "Hey, Shy." Fluttershy sniffled. "I...It's a bad time, isn't it?" She turned to the door to exit the room. "No, just..Ah'm just dealing with a break-up." Applejack said. At least that was mildly true, at least. "We can talk about that instead." Fluttershy said as she sat down on the bed next to Applejack. "Alright, me and Rainbow kinda sorta but not really broke up." Applejack said as she sat up to face Fluttershy "Really, what happened?" Fluutershy said as she hugged Applejack, her own tears gliding along the farm girl's arm. "Well, her mom kinda broke us up by moving away and sending her away to an academy." Applejack finished. "She left? But, did she say you're broken up?" Fluttershy questioned. She rubbed her arm as she didn't know how to react to Applejack's situation. "How did you two meet, anyway?" Fluttershy asked. Applejack looked away and blushed as she told the timid yellow girl the story of their second meeting. ---(This is what Applejack told Fluttershy) Applejack was in the hallway, listening to her iPod. She was listening to a song by Nicki Minaj called Super Bass. When she was walking out of the school, she bumped into someone and she was knocked backwards. "Hey, watch where you're...huh?" Applejack recognized the person she ran into : multicolored hair, cyan skin, rose-colored eyes. It was the girl she had met at the bar, but she didn't tell Fluttershy that "You go to this school?" The cyan girl said as she pointed at Applejack. "Applejack, right?" She said as she gripped one of the straps of her backpack. "Yeah, that's me!" Applejack said with a smile. She kept up her faux-nonchalant attitude. But she was really happy that Rainbow had remembered her name. "Walk me home?" Rainbow asked as she and Applejack held hands. "S...Sure, sugarcube." Applejack stuttered as she marveled at how small and soft Rainbow's hand was. "You play any sports?" Rainbow asked. "Uh, not really." Applejack said honestly. "You know, if you want, I can teach you. If you want to, that is." Rainbow said while hiding a blush. "Sure, sugar." Applejack said as she caressed Rainbow's cyan hand with her thumb. --- "That was so romantic and sweet." Fluttershy said as she closed her eyes. Applejack blushed as she looked away and hid her blush behind her bangs. She didn't know why she didn't tell Fluttershy the real story. She just felt embarrassed to do so. "So, when was your first date? Was it romantic? I want to hear how you asked her too." Fluttershy demanded while looking at Applejack with wide eyes. "Alright, here's how it started..." Applejack began as she thought back to when she first asked Rainbow on a date. --- Applejack clenched her fists until she felt her nails digging into her palms and she bit her lip so hard that she began to taste fresh droplets of blood form on her lip. She was going to do this...regardless of what could happen. She inched closer to Rainbow Dash, who was kicking soccer balls into the goal net on the field. Applejack stalled as the cyan girl's appearance settled into her mind. Her knees went weak and her voice caught in her throat. She wasn't sure what to say to her, but she still walked up to her. "Rainbow Dash! Hey, Rainbow Dash!" Applejack called out as she walked closer to the cyan girl. She came face to face with Rainbow as the cyan girl placed her hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow as she waited for Applejack to speak. Applejack hesitated. She hadn't spoken to Rainbow in 2 years. She wasn't sure how to approach her or how to talk to her. Yet, she somehow found her courage. "Look, Ah apologize an all, but, why didn't ya show up at mah bake sale like ya promised?" Rainbow looked dumbfounded. "Huh? But YOU were the one who cancelled on ME!" Rainbow said as she crossed her arms. "But, Ah asked you. And ya weren't there. What do you mean Ah cancelled? Why would Ah cancel mah own bake sale." Applejack asked, her voice raising. "I don't know, you tell me! I got a text from you saying that you moved your bake sale to another way." Rainbow said, growing more agitated. "What are ya on about?" Applejack said with her eyebrow raised. "Simple. I got a text from you saying that your bake sale moved to a different day. And, when I showed up, no one was there!" Rainbow looked on the verge of tears. "But, Ah never sent ya a text, Rainbow. Ah swear." Applejack said. "You didn't?" Rainbow said as she sneaked a glance at her phone and looked for a message. "No, see? This message says 'To:Rainbow, From: Applejack!' " Rainbow shouted. "But, Ah didn't. When was that text sent to ya?" Applejack asked as she snatched the phone from Rainbow's hand. "Um, about on the 3rd of January. Why?" Rainbow replied. " 'Cause my phone wasn't active for that month." Applejack answered. "But, wha... but, if you didn't send it, who did?" Rainbow's expression softened. "Ah have a feelin Ah know who." Applejack said as her eyes narrowed at a strand of red and yellow hair. "Who?" Rainbow asked. "Never you mind." Applejack said. "AJ, I...I'm sorry. Forgive me?" Rainbow said as she wrapped her arms around Applejack's arm. Applejack pried Rainbow's arms away and turned to her. "Ah don't know, you tell me..." And with that, she kissed Rainbow, right on the lips. Rainbow widened her eyes in shock, then closed her eyes as she wrapped her arms around Applejack's neck. Applejack then placed her hand on Rainbow's waist and slightly extended it to the small of Rainbow's back. Applejack's lips separated from Rainbow's as her face veered off to the side and into Rainbow's ear. She stuck her tongue out and ran it along Rainbow's outer ear. She then whispered "You, me, tonight, 7, be there." Rainbow veered back with a grin and nipped slightly at Applejack's neck. Applejack cooed and moaned quietly as she drifted back to her friends with Rainbow's hand in hers. ---(Fast Forward to the date) Applejack looked herself over in the mirror. "What if Rainbow doesn't show up? What if I scared her off?" Applejack became paranoid as a hundred different scenarios went through her mind. "Come on, girl, be brave!" Applejack snapped at herself. Just then, Applejack heard a knock at the door. "That must be her, now." She thought as she sucked in a breath and descended the stairs. She opened the door to see Rainbow in front of her. Applejack said nothing, only stared at her. The cyan girl looked stunning. She had her multicolored hair in a low ponytail. She had on a black dress that had a dark cyan cloud with a multicolored lightning bolt at the bottom. She had on black heels and she had red lipstick on with pale lavender eye shadow and slight pink blush on. "Wow, you're lookin' mighty hot, tonight." Applejack said as she played with a loose strand of Rainbow's hair. Rainbow blushed, but it was disguised behind the blush she was wearing. "Thanks, you too, hottie." Rainbow replied. Applejack took Rainbow's hand in hers and led her out of the door. Applejack and Rainbow Dash held hands all the way to the park. "How we gonna do this, RD?" Applejack asked as they stopped at a bench and sat down on it. Rainbow soon followed and sat down next to Applejack. "What do you mean?" Rainbow asked. "Well, Ah've never been on a date with another girl. Don't see where to go from here." Applejack answered, bowing her head. "Well, where do you want it to go?" Rainbow Dash asked as she cuddled Applejack's arm. Applejack winked and turned to the cyan girl. "Why don't we see?" Applejack said as she nuzzled Rainbow's neck. "Yo, Pinks, you up for something?" Rainbow heard someone whisper. It was Sunset Shimmer's voice. "What?" Pinkie Pie asked as her blue eyes grew wide. "Post this note on Applejack's back." Sunset said as she handed Pinkie a sticky note. "Why?" Pinkie asked. Sunset groaned. "Just do it!" She snapped as she pushed Pinkie towards the couple. Pinkie Pie did as she was told, and posted a note on Applejack's back, but, much to her relief, the farm girl didn't notice. Rainbow looked behind Applejack, and smiled at what the note said. Without a word of warning, Rainbow placed a closed-mouthed kiss to Applejack's lips. Applejack widened her eyes in shock, then closed them as Rainbow parted Applejack's lips with her tongue, her tongue curiously roaming the other girl's mouth. When they parted, Applejack blushed. "Why'd ya do that?" Applejack questioned. "Ah'm not sayin' Ah didn't enjoy it." Applejack added as she bowed her head, failing to hide her blush. "Because, you asked for it." Rainbow simply replied as she pried the note off the farm girl's back. The note read: Kiss Me. 'Pinkie Pie, Damn you' Applejack thought as she balled her fists at her sides. "Wanna go to mah place?" Applejack asked the cyan girl slyly. Rainbow grinned slyly back as she held the farm girl's hand. Applejack and Rainbow Dash left the bench and started off to Applejack's house. --- "Wow, that was so romantic. But, how did you guys break up?" Fluttershy asked as the story ended. "Well, It might not be as romantic as ya'd like, but it's the story ya wanted ta here." Applejack admitted as she thought back to the event. The event that scarred Applejack's heart forever. --- Applejack and Rainbow Dash were in Rainbow Dash's room. Applejack laid on the edge of the bed reading a book called 'Cirque Du Freak: A Living Nightmare.' At that point, Rainbow flopped onto her bed beside Applejack. The book bounced out of Applejack's hands and onto the floor and Applejack sneered as she leaned over to pick up the book, and when she did, Rainbow turned Applejack over until she was on top of her. Rainbow then planted a small closed-mouth kiss to Applejack's lips. Applejack then switched places with Rainbow, never breaking the kiss between them. Applejack reached a hand behind Rainbow's head, pulling her tighter into the kiss. After a few seconds, Applejack pulled away and licked Rainbow's lips, asking for entry. But when she did, her tongue hit Rainbow's instead. Applejack's tongue entered Rainbow's mouth as she gripped Rainbow's shoulders. Applejack brought her hand out from under Rainbow's head to stroke Rainbow's cyan cheek. When they pulled apart, Rainbow bit Applejack's lower lip and kept it between her teeth long enough until Applejack pulled away. Applejack responded by licking Rainbow's face and placing a kiss on Rainbow's forehead. "Well?" Rainbow asked, still on the bottom of Applejack. "Not bad...fer a start, sugercube." Applejack added as she tightly gripped the cyan girl's shoulders. Rainbow smirked, then, both girls heard a familiar voice call to her. "Rainbow Dash? Sweetie?" A woman's voice rang as both girls heard a door open and close, leaving a small click behind. "Oh no, my folks are here." Rainbow squeaked as she turned to Applejack, who, to her frantic worries, was still on top of her. "Get off me!" Rainbow frantically said as she pushed Applejack off her stomach. "Sheesh, alright, alright, Ah'm gettin' off!" Applejack said as she dusted off her outfit and stood up from the floor. "Sorry, but, if my parents saw, they'd freak." Rainbow tried to apologize. "Well, lets go to yer folks, sugercube.'' Applejack stated as she grabbed Rainbow's hand and led her down the stairs. "Rainbow? Sweetie? Rainbow Jennifer Dash, Front and... Oh, hi, sweetie." A woman with blue short hair and pink skin said as she spread her arms. "What? No hug for your mom?" The woman asked. Rainbow entered the embrace. "Hi, mom." Rainbow groaned as the woman squeezed her cheeks. "It's OK, I can not exist. Ignore me if ya'd like." A man's voice rang from the den room. Rainbow rolled her eyes. "Hi dad!" Rainbow called. "Hmm, Who are you!" The man called out. Rainbow rolled her eyes and went to the den. She came back within seconds. "Sweetie, come set the table for dinner." The woman said as she led Dash to the kitchen. "Well, Ah best be goin'" Applejack said as she turned to the door. "Oh, Applejack. Stay for dinner. It's late already. It's no trouble if that's what you're thinking." The woman insisted. Applejack did as she was told and darted to the kitchen to help Dash. --- When the table was set, Rainbow's parents sat at the table and Applejack took the seat next to Rainbow. "Sweetie, we have big news." Mrs. Dash began, catching Rainbow and Applejack to look up from their plates. "What mom?" Rainbow asked, knowing Applejack staring at her and her mom. "Well, remember that academy you always talked about?" Mrs. Dash said. "Huh? Oh, you mean the Wonderbolt Academy?" Rainbow asked, a pit growing in her stomach. She didn't know where this could lead and was afraid. "Well, you will get to go to this academy..." Rainbow rejoiced, until she noticed that her mother wasn't done with her announcement. "But, you'll have to attend it for the next few moths of high school, and we'lll have to move...permanently." Mrs. Dash finished. Rainbow sank in her seat, all of a sudden remembering Applejack was still next to her. "What does that mean?" Applejack asked as she looked into Rainbow's burgundy eyes, which were shining with worry. "It means that tomorrow, at midnight, we will leave this town...forever." Mrs.Dash said with alarm. "But. mom, I don't want to leave." Rainbow pleaded. At once, her mother's face closed off. "Look, I've invested too much money into this. Don't be ungrateful!" Mrs. Dash shouted. Rainbow stood up from her seat and grabbed Applejack's wrist. "We're leaving!" And with that, she stormed up to her room. Rainbow slammed the door behind her and Applejack. She screamed in frustration. "I CAN'T BELIEVE HER! THAT HAG!" Rainbow screeched. Applejack widened her eyes. Rainbow sat on her bed and hugged her knees to her chest. "I can't believe I have to leave." Rainbow sobbed into her knees. "Well, whaddaya most not want ta leave?" Applejack asked as she draped her arm around Rainbow's shoulder. "Y...you." Rainbow stammered as she wrapped her arms around Applejack's neck and attacked her lips with kisses, all the while tears were cascading down her cheeks and down the front of Applejack shirt. When she pulled away, Rainbow blushed as Applejack hugged her tightly. Just then, Rainbow's mom burst into the room and glared at Applejack with hot hatred. "I'm sorry Applejack, but, you can't see my daughter again. I'm afraid i'll have to ask you to leave." Mrs. Dash snarled through gritted teeth. She grabbed Applejack's wrist and threw her out the door. "And don't you ever EVER even SPEAK to my daughter again. She needs this, so don't distract her!" Mrs. Dash said as she door slammed in Applejack's face. Rainbow cried and shrieked. "MOM, I LOVE HER! WHY DID YOU DO THAT!" Rainbow shrieked and punched her mother's stomach. "I'm very sorry, but you only had to break up with her because she was apart of a life that I didn't want you to live in forever." Mrs. Dash said calmly, ignoring the punches to her stomach completely. At last, at some point, Rainbow stopped punching her mother and laid on her bed as she hugged her knees tightly to her chest and sobbed. --- At the end of the story, Fluttershy was crying and reaching for tissues, all the while Applejack refused to sob. "But, you didn't try to stop her?" Fluttershy asked through fits of hiccup-sobs. Applejack bowed her head and shook it as tears prickled at the back of her eyes and threatened to show themselves. "Ah didn't know how." Applejack murmured. "But, a love like yours and Dashie's is so strong, shouldn't it be worth fighting for?" Fluttershy questioned as at last, she stopped sobbing. Applejack realized that her timid young friend was right. The farm girl also realized that there was more to Fluttershy than most people thought of her. "You're right, Ah have ta faught fer her, and our relationship." Applejack declared as she got up from her bed and dragged Fluttershy's wrist as she dragged her to the exit. "Where are we going, AJ?" Fluttershy worriedly asked, or whispered. "To RD's place!" Applejack declared as she darted to Rainbow Dash's house. --- zRainbow was in her room, packing her things for the trip, a knock on her door made her jump. She opened it so the hallway was packed with two girls, one was yellow, and the other was wearing a stetson. "A...Applejack?" Rainbow stuttered as she jumped into Applejack's arms and kissed her on the lips. Applejack leaned into the kiss until they pulled apart. "I... didn't know you were coming." Rainbow stuttered as Applejack had her arm around Rainbow's waist, softly caressing her hip. "Rainbow Jennifer Dash! We need to leave... Oh I thought I told you to never come near her again." She narrowed her eyes at Fluttershy and Applejack. Applejack glared back and put Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy behind her back and stepped closer to Mrs. Dash. "Look, we're datin', so, Ah don't know if ya're homophobic, or somethin', but please don't take it out on mah friends or mah girlfriend." Applejack stated, hot cider and hatred on her breath. Just then, Rainbow stepped up and put herself in between her mom and her girlfriend. "Mom, I know you just want what's best for me, but, I don't want this. I want to stay in high school, with Applejack. And when it's time for college, who knows? But I want to spend my high school years doing what I absolutely love with the girl I love by my side." Rainbow stated as she wrapped her arms around both Applejack and Fluttershy's neck. Mrs. Dash stumbled back, but quickly regain her composure. "Oh, Alright. You are...headstrong. But, I know you'll do well in life." Mrs. Dash said as she embraced the three girls warmly. Rainbow and Applejack then kissed passionately, leaving Fluttershy to look dreamily at them, and Mrs. Dash to smile and nod approvingly.
