Luna has been sent to the moon. While there, however, a song reaches her through the dark. A lullabye from her sister. Despite Nightmare trying to convince her otherwise, Luna replies with the same sad melody. These are their songs of apologies.

Lullay, Moon Princess

Luna sat on the cold, dusty surface of the sad and barren moon. She fought back tears as she stared at the planet below. She was suddenly overwhelmed with anger. She how dare Tia had done this to her! She was supposed to be her older sister!! She wasn't supposed to do this sort of thing to her younger sibling!!! Luna shook her head, causing the anger to leave in a purple mist that was all to familiar to the young princess.

"Hello, Nightmare." The black alicorn formed from the mist next to the young princess. "How are you?"

"Hello, Luna. and I'm fine. Would be better if we weren't stuck here." Luna turned her head to the dark being, who seemed to be deep in thought and staring at the planet below.

"Maybe you shouldn't have tried to bring about nighttime eternal." Nightmare seemed to shrug the comment off, as if it didn't matter.

"It would have worked if those blasted elements hadn't banished us." Luna glared at her. "What?"

"It's your fault we're even here! If you didn't do that, we would be in the castle with Tia, protecting the pony population instead of sitting in a wasteland for a thousand years before we can return!!!" Nightmare snapped her head away from the sky to look at the younger pony.

"My fault?! What do you mean MY fault?! If anything, it's your stupid older sister fault!! she's the one who sent us here after all!! Or did you forget that?"

"NO!!! IT'S YOUR FAULT!!!!!" The two glared at each other before Luna sighed and sat down. She couldn't win against the black alicorn. It was impossible. She closed her eyes before staring down at the planet. Her home. Her real home. Not just a rock.

"Fate has been cruel and order unkind." Luna stiffened at the all to familiar voice of her elder sister. She looked behind her and her eyes widened with shock. There stood a faint image of her sister. The white alicorn seemed to be crying. Luna stared at her sister and felt tears well up in her eyes. "How can I have sent you away? the blame was my own, the punishment yours. The harmony's silent today."

"NO! IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT, TIA!!!" Nightmare rolled her eyes. Luna ignored her and kept yelling at her elder sibling.

"So great was her reign, so brilliant her glory, that long was the shadow she cast. Which fell dark upon the young sister she loved, and grew only darker as days and nights passed. Lullay, moon princess. Goodnight sister mine. Rest now in moonlight's embrace." Luna walked up to her sister and reached out to touch her, only for her hoof to go straight through, proving her sister was not really there. Luna sat down and started crying.

"Carry the peace and the coolness of night. And carry my sorrow in kind. Luna you're loved so much more than you know. Forgive me for being so blind." The tears were falling in vast numbers by that point and there was no way to stop them.

"I do! Tia!! Please stop blaming yourself!!!"

"Soon did that pony take notice that others did not give her sister her due. And neither had she loved her as she deserved. She watched as her sister's unhappiness grew. But such is the way of the lime-light, it sweetly takes hold of the mind of its host. And that foolish pony did nothing to stop, the destruction of one who had needed her most." Luna kept crying as she listened. Tia couldn't hear her. But she just couldn't give up. She kept yelling at her sister.

"Bare up my lullaby, winds of the Earth. Through cloud and through sky and through space. Carry the peace and the coolness of night. And carry my sorrow in kind. Luna you're loved so much more than you know. May troubles be far from your mind. And forgive me for being so blind."

"Tia...." Luna stared at her sister in complete shock. How was this possible? How could Tia blame herself so much when it was Luna's fault for believing what Nightmare had said.

"The years now before us, fearful and unknown. I never imagined, I'd face them on my own. May these thousand winters, swiftly pass I pray. I love you, I miss you. All these miles away. May all these dreams be, sweet tonight. Safe upon her bed of moonlight. And know not of sadness, pain, or care. And when I dream, I'll fly away and meet you there. Sleep... Sleep... Sleep..." Luna stared at the image of her sister as it started fading. Luna snapped out of it as it began to disappear.

"NO!!! TIA!!!! COME BACK!!!! DON'T LEAE ME HERE!!!!!! TIA!!!!!!!!!" Luna watched as the sun princess completely disappeared.

"Looks like she left you alone again."

"Shut up..."

"At least she reconized it was her fault. This was just a lame attempt at an apology. She doesn't really care. She ju-"

"I SAID SHUT UP NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!" The dark pony blinked at Luna's sudden outburst. "YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO JUDGE HER!!!!! SHE CARES ABOUT ME MUCH MORE THAN YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!" Nightmare blinked a few times before Luna's words sank in.

"So you're going to push the only one who was there for you away? Fine. But she doesn't care. If she did, don't you think she would have stopped this from happening?" Without skipping a beat, Nightmare disappeared, leaving Luna alone once again.

Luna's Reply

Celestia walked down the corridors of the palace. She had spent an entire afternoon listening to nobles complain about things that didn't matter. No wonder Luna despised them. There was a pain in her heart as she thought of her little sister. Her eyes began to water. She missed Luna so much, she didn't want to think about the princess now stuck on the moon. It had only been a month since that fateful day, but the wounds caused by that event were still fresh. She picked up speed and eventually reached two doors. One was a golden color with the sun clear painted in orange. That was Celestia's room. However, directly across the hall, was a dark blue door with a moon and stars painted on the door. That room was Luna's. The one room would not be used again for another 1000 years. Pain hit Celestia again. Why did Luna have to be banished? Why couldn't those stupid rocks have just pulled Nightmare out of Luna instead? The sun princess quickly went into her room, the door loudly shutting behind her. She fell onto her bed.

This was all her fault. If she had just paid more attention, she would have noticed Luna's anger and envy. It wouldn't have happened. She could have help!! But she just sat off to the side and dealt with small little problems while not seeing the giant one approaching at alarming speeds.

Celestia pulled her pillow over her head as her tears started travelling down her pale cheeks. Everything seemed pointless without her little sister's small jokes and cheerful attitude that would lift even the saddest pony from their depression. Celestia buried herself in her blankets and pillows. She wanted to be alone to cry. What happened next, in her room, she could not have guessed in millions of years. Not at all.

"How my deeds pain me as time stretches long. How could I, have hurt them this way? So rest easy now, my punishment's mine. The weight of my crimes are my own. But into the stillness, you brought me your song. With your voice, my company kept. For your tired eyes, and sweet lullabies. I exile, I pay you my debt." Celestia tried to get out of her blankets, which now seemed like a trap. She got out and stared at her sister. But there was only one problem. It wasn't really Luna. It was a projection, an image. Celestia couldn't help but stare at her little sister. She looked like she did the last time she had saw her not as Nightmare Moon. But what was she doing? Why was she singing?

"Once did a pony who gleamed like the moon, look out on her kingdom and sighed. Dejected she cried, 'Surely there is no pony, who loves me, or finds any love in my night'. So great was her pain, she rose in rebellion against those who cared for her most. She let the Nightmare fall on those she ruled. And threatened to grip them in permanent cold." Celestia's eyes widened. It was her fault, not Luna's. Why is her sister trying to apologize? It wasn't her fault!

"Luna, stop. It's my fault, not yours." The younger pony didn't seem to hear at all. Of course she couldn't hear her. Luna was on the moon, not next to Celestia. Luna opened her mouth to sing another verse.

"Lullay, dear Tia. Goodnight sister mine. Rest now in starlight's embrace. May this cool lullaby reach you in dreams and ease you your passage of days. May my apologies find you this night. And may my sorrow in kind. Tia, you loved much more than I knew. Forgive me for being so blind." Celestia just stared as her sister started crying. She watched as a single tear rolled down her cheek until it fell into empty air.

"Soon did her sister do what was demanded and gave to the moonlight her due. Breaking the harmony, she saved her ponies, and banished her as a wise ruler must do. Such is the weight of the crown that we wear sister. Duties we always uphold. May you forgive that foolishness mine. And live on with no burden upon your soul."

"Luna......please........stop......." Celestia was crying as she stared. There was nothing else she could do. Luna couldn't come back for a thousand years. there was nothing she could do to change that. She had already tried several times. Celestia just wanted her sister back. Nothing else.

"Lullay, dear Tia. Goodnight sister mine. Rest now in starlight's embrace. May this cool lullaby reach you in dreams and ease you your passage of days. May my apologies find you this night. And, my sorrow in kind. Tia, you loved me much more than I knew. May troubles be far from your mind. And forgive me for being so blind."

"Luna?"

"The space now before us, empty and forlorn. I never imagined, we'd face them all alone. May these sunless season, swiftly pass, I pray. I love you, I miss you. All these miles away. May all your dreams be, sweet tonight. Safe upon that bed above the lights. And know not of heartache, fear, nor gloom. And when I dream I'll fly away and meet you soon." Celestia's eyes widened as Luna started to fade. "Sleep....sleep....sleep...." Celestia ran forward, only for Luna to disappear once more. The sun princess lowered her head and walked to her balcony. She closed her eyes and began to lower the sun. She carefully began to raise the moon as well. But when she looked at it, the face was just a reminder of her sister. She felt like crying again, but she raised her head in defiance. Luna needed her to be strong.

"I will keep Equestria safe, until the day you can return, my dear sister."
