> The Mysterious Box of Harmony > by Flying Fantasy Horse > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > It's... It's.... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The keys have finally been retrieved. All the special talents of the Elements of Harmony have been fully realized and in return, have been given keys to open the mysterious chest. It took a lot of work and a lot of dedication from each of the Elements, but in the end, it resulted in triumph, and most importantly, friendship. The mysterious chest was shrouded in mystery the moment the Elements have found it in the Tree of Harmony. They had no idea what the contents were inside, and even the princesses didn't have a clue what was inside. Whatever it was, it must have been of up-most importance. The six went to work, trying to find the keys. As they did, the Princesses pondered what could be inside the chest. Could it be a long-lost treasure? A weapon used to defend the land of Equestria? Their thousand-year old minds clashed together, but nothing came of the result. Finally, the day came, when the Elements of Harmony finally retrieved all of the keys. It took legendary battles, conflicts with friendship, high-scale adventure, and the defeat of mythic enemies from long ago. Finally, the Elements of Harmony could finally find out what was inside the chest that has haunted them in the back of their heads. The day came when the last key was found, a rainbow coloured magical item for Twilight, when she defeated a swarm of manticores that was led by the return of Trixie. The Elements and the Princesses gathered around the silver looking chest in a secret chamber in the Canterlot castle. Already, the talk of what was inside the chest was erupting. "I wonder what could be inside! I hope it's something to eat! And sweet!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "No, it can't be! Perhaps it's some sort of clothing that signifies our travels around the land of Equestria!" Rarity pondered. "Maybe it's an age old item from long ago that was used in ancient times!" Twilight thought. "Maybe it's a totally cool body suit for all of us! Or maybe a cool weapon! Or something cool!" Rainbow Dash yelled out. "I don't know what it is, but I hope that it's maybe useful, or something that we can all use," Fluttershy feebly spoke out. "Girls! Ah don't know what's inside that silver box either, but whatever is inside that thing, it must mean something! We have been through a lot together, and if it means that much to find something inside a small box, then it must have something to do with our friendship!" Applejack rationalized. The rest of the Elements glanced at each other and nodded in agreement. The solar princess stepped in the circle and spoke out. "Applejack is right. You all have done a wonderful job at keeping the realm of Equestria save for all citizens to live in. If it took that much to open this mysterious box, then it must signify your friendship together." The six glanced at each other and nodded at each other. They glanced at the chest. They pulled out their items. Almost instantly as they pulled them out, the items levitated towards the box. In amazement, the items glowed brightly until they could be no longer seen by the regular eye, and transformed into keys. They then put themselves inside the keyholes, and turned. "Oooh, this is exciting!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. A small hole erupted at the top of the chest. A ray of golden light shot out of it as the rest of the box slowly opened up. The ray of golden light was blinding as the Elements and the Princesses shielded their eyes with their hoofs. Finally, the ray of light toned down, and the Elements and Princesses looked at the sight that had revealed itself. The product of the Element's journey, their struggles, and their friendship, was.... A half-eaten piece of chocolate cake. Everypony gaped their jaws in complete surprise, except Pinkie Pie, who was salivating at the delicious sight. "That looks duper-duper-looper good!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. Twilight studied the cake more carefully as she walked torwards it. It didn't appear to have any magical powers at all. It was just a regular piece of chocolate cake. She caught the sight of a yellow sticky note, the message written with red marker. She read it out loud. "Property of Princess Luna. Do not eat! This is just cake?!" All eyes were on Princess Luna. Luna stared at the piece of cake. "Oh my goodness! I've been looking for that piece of cake for centuries!" "Do you mean to tell me that we were looking for all these keys just for a piece of cake?!" Rarity shot out. Luna blushed. "I will admit, it was probably not the best space for a piece of cake. But I honestly didn't want anypony eating my cake!" "Then why was it put into that secret silver chest then?" Rainbow Dash asked, red with anger. "It was actually just the first thing that I could put the cake in. The rest were being washed," Luna replied. "Wait, what do you mean, the rest?" Twilight asked. Luna motioned to the door in the chamber. The door opened, and a pile of similar looking chests shot out of the closet, scattering across the floor, each with the same exact keyholes. Every Element was red with anger at the moment. "Is there anything else that you need to tell us about stupid mythical cakes?!" Applejack hissed. "I do!" Pinkie Pie shot out. The rest of the Elements glanced at Pinkie Pie. Her mouth was brown with chocolate frosting, and the floor was scattered with crumbs all around her. "We're out of chocolate cake!" "Pinkie Pie! That was my cake!" Princess Luna went into a gallop as she chased Pinkie Pie all around the room in rage. Twilight sighed. Princess Celestia looked down at Twilight and spotted her gloomy mood. "Twilight, is there something wrong?" "We did all these things to find out what was in the chest and all we find is cake? Does that mean that our friendship is just meaningless?" Twilight asked. "Twilight, perhaps the most important things are the simple ones. Even if it doesn't look like much, it says a thousand words," Princess Celestia explained. "Yeah, I guess." "Chocolate cake?" Twilight glanced at the piece of cake that was in her teacher's hoof. At that moment, she didn't know what to think. "Eh, why not?" Twilight asked herself as she took the piece of cake.
