And I was chosen as her special some pony a week after she started realizing her true feelings about me. Is this wrong? No. Chase is engaged to Princess Twilight Sparkle, Remy and Spitfire began dating last week, and Jack is an official adopted son of the rulers of the Crystal Empire. So why is this relationship I'm having any different? Well... I'm about to find out that there's more to this relationship than Flutterbat and I realized. I was walking down one of the hallways of Canterlot with my hands in my jacket pockets. Not too long ago, Princess Celestia sent me a letter saying that when I have the time, I should see her. And since I'm kinda bored as hell, I'm using this time to do so. I arrived at Princess Celestia's room and knocked lightly on it. "Come in" I heard her say. I opened the door and saw the princess lying on her bed, using her magic to fill in some paperwork and sign documents. After writing on several scrolls, still using her magic, she moved the scrolls aside, and placed the quill pen in an ink bottle. "Cale..." She said seriously. "Please come here and close the door behind you." I stepped into the room and closed the door. Princess Celestia levitated two golden chalices and poured red wine into them. She then handed one of them to me with her magic. I took the chalice from its magic hold. "What's this about, Your Highness?" I asked. "There is a matter we have to discuss regarding your relationship with Flutterbat." Being careful with the wine-filled chalice, I sat on one of the cushions. "Now I want you to know that I completely respect her love for you, I really do. But it's you I'm worried about." I looked at her concerned. "You're having feelings for me? Your sister is having feelings for me?" I asked, panicked. "Neither" she answered. "You see..." She hesitated and glanced down at the wine in her chalice. She took a breath and looked at me almost pleadingly. "There is a price to be paid in your relationship." "What kind of price?" I asked. Princess Celestia sadly glanced down. "I'd rather not say... Instead, I'll just show you an image" she said. She got up and placed her horn gently on my forehead. She closed her eyes and certain images flashed into my mind. I gasped and almost dropped the chalice. Thank God I didn't. "Now I'm worried what Flutterbat will think" I said, catching my breath. "Is that the price that has to be paid?" Princess Celestia nodded. "I'm sorry Cale, but it has to be done." "Relax" I said. "You don't have to be sorry. If this means spending the rest of my life with her, so be it" I said. "You love her that much?" She asked. "I'd jump in front of any magic just for her. Even the ones that kill." Her eyes began to water. "Cale... You do know that this means you'll be normal during the day, but you'll be like her night, rightt?" she asked. "Are you sure you and Flutterbat can handle it?" "It's Flutterbat's reaction I'm worried about" I answered. Princess Celestia looked at the clock. "You have to break the news to her and have her bite you as soon as you can, because when the bell tolls 1..." "I'll make sure it happens." "Thank you" she said. We clinked our chalices and drank our wine. So what happens when the bell tolls 1 and I'm not bitten? Flutterbat will go insane and will want me for my blood and suck my blood dry. How to stop her? Shoot me in the heart. And everypony knows how much Flutterbat hates seeing me hurt. And let's not think about what will happen when she sees me get killed. I placed the chalice down and bowed to Princess Celestia. I got up and left the room with one thought in my mind. 'I'm going to have one hell of a night' I made my way outside and walked up a hill. This is the same hill where I fought and eventually befriended Flutterbat. It was also the same hill where a lot of Canterlot residents like to nap. Especially us humans. When I reached the top, Jack was leaning against a trees with two napping fillies on his lap. I walked past the three and sprawled on the grass, facing the sunny sky. 'How am I going to break the news to her?' I thought to myself. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. "Cale, Cale wake up" a voice said. I opened my eyes sleepily. The sun was still up and Remy was standing over me with a sniper rifle in his hand. "How long was I asleep?" I asked. "30 minutes" he answered. "What's with the gun?" I asked as I got to my feet. "We're needed in Ponyville" he answered. I looked to my right and saw Jack still napping with the fillies. "No, no... Just you and I" he added. "What for?" I asked. "I'll explain when we board the train. Now go gather your weapons" he said. The way he sounded right now told me that there is a serious issue at hand so I made my way to my room as quickly as I could. I had to be quiet and not wake Flutterbat. I walked over to the drawer and opened it. I pulled out a handgun, mag, and silencer. I inserted the mag, clipped on the silencer and headed for the doorway. I took one quick glance at the closet. 'I have to tell her eventually.' I exited my room, closed the door quietly and went to meet up with Remy at the Canterlot Train Station. > Arriving at Ponyville > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remy had disassembled his rifle and stuffed the parts in a duffel bag and stuffed said bag under his seat. Luckily we were in one of the compartments so we wouldn't have to worry about a pony behind us questioning about the bag. Which never really happens, but you can never be too sure. "So... What's the problem?" I asked. Remy remained silent for a few seconds before turning his attention to me. "Before I tell you about why I'm bringing the rifle, I want you to answer this question I'm about to ask you." I was nervous as hell. "Lay it on me" I said. Oh God I hope it doesn't involve me and Flutterbat. "I kind of overheard everything" he said. "What are you talking about?" I asked. "That you have to be a vampire fruit bat." Shit! He knows! "Please, for Christ's sake, don't let anypony know about this!" "I won't, just answer me truthfully." I looked down and sighed. "Yes, it's true" I answered. "Do you know why this is the price you have to pay?" He asked. "This is what I get for loving a vampire bat. I mean, that's the only reason I got thus far. I'm hoping that there's more to this." "How long do you have?" He asked. "She has until the bell tolls 1:00 in the morning to bite me and turn me into a vampire." "Shit" he muttered. "What happens if she doesn't?" "Then she'll start showing a lot of love... For my blood. She won't stop until she devours every ounce of blood in my body." "Is there a way to stop it?" "Yeah. You have to kill me. A bullet to the heart." "Fuck" he cursed again. "1:00 in the morning you say?" I nodded. "Is there a problem?" Yeah" he answered. "And I fear that by the time we solve this problem, you will have little time to have her bite you. But she knows about this right? Flutterbat knows she has to bite you and turn you into the same species as her?" "No. She doesn't." Remy had a shocked... Or scared look on his face, I couldn't tell which. "Tonight will tell whether I make it as a vampire fruit bat, or if I have to get a bullet to the heart. Now.... What's the problem in Ponyville?" I asked. "There is this gang of Diamond Dogs we have to deal with." "That's ok. We wipe them out, board the train to Canterlot, tell Flutterbat the situation, she bites me, I'm good." "But Cale, we know how much she hates seeing you hurt." "I know. Which is why I have to break the news to her gently. Now, how many Diamond Dogs do we have to deal with?" "A lot. Something you and I could handle." "Plus we got Princess Twilight on our side, she'll deal some serious magic on them and this whole operation will be a piece of cake." Remy pulled something out if his pocket. It was a folded letter. "This was sent to me by her today" he said as he handed it to me. I took the letter from his hand, unfolded it and read it silently. 'The Diamond Dogs have Rarity, the others and I would go and save her, but they requested to see two humans. If they see me or any of my friends, they'll kill Rarity. Please get her back safely.' "Let's do this" I said confidently. "You do know the chances of returning to Canterlot with the moon in the sky is very high, right?" "Yeah." "Are you ok with Flutterbat turning you into a vampire fruit bat or me having to kill you if time runs out?" "Well I did promise Princess Celestia that I won't let the latter happen because what good will Equestria be without the Horseman of War?" "Good point." The train started to slow done. "Where here, ready to do this?" He asked. "Hell yeah." When we got onto the boarding platform, Remy slung the bag over his shoulder. "What's the plan?" I asked. "Assure the five that everything will be all right" he answered simply. "Then we go underground, find Rarity, kill the Diamond Dogs, reunite her with her friends, go back to Canterlot..." When he reached the Canterlot part, I shot him a glare. "Please don't bring that up in front of them." The two of us left the station and walked down the street. In Twilight's Library, Princess Twilight paced around, worried. Just then, there was a knock on her door. Remy entered the library. "Alright Your Highness" he said as he stepped into the library. He closed the door behind him and there was a loud thud. I opened the door as I rubbed my forehead. "Must you do that?" I asked. I groaned in pain, stepped into the library, and closed the door behind me. Remy rolled his eyes. "I assure you, Twilight... We'll get Twilight back." He walked over to the side and put his bag on the floor. He Ben own in front if it and opened the bag. As he assembled his gun, I approached Twilight, my forehead feeling better. "Cale..." She said sadly. "Diamond Dogs are stupid. I'm pretty sure they forgot about what the letter they wrote said." "These are a new breed. They are smarter, stronger, and deadlier than the others." Remy inserted his mag and smiled. "We're wasting time then" he said as he got to his feet. "Spread word to the others and tell him that Cale and I have arrived to reduce Rarity." He turned to me. "Come on Cale, lets get a move on." "We don't even know where to start" I said. "I do" Twilight said. I stood what looked like in the middle of nowhere outside of Ponyville lost in thought with what just happened. Earlier "So you write a letter to the New Breed saying tha the humans arrived, and you're sending me to get caught?" I asked Twilight as she used her magic to write the letter. "Then you write another letter requesting Jack and Chase to help us..." "I'm sorry it has to be done this way" she said apologetically. "No, no, by all means, do so. I'm completely fine with it" I lied. I turned to Remy and pulled out my silenced handgun. "I'll be needing this eventually" I said. "I'll make sure it gets back in your hand" he said as he took it from me. "Be careful out there" Remy said. I laughed nervously. Present I watched as a small group of creatures rose from the ground.they look like Diamond Dogs, but tougher, meaner, and nastier. "Check his pockets... Make sure he has no possessions." And fucking smarter too. "He's clean" one of the New Breeds said. "Bind his hands and take him with us." While my hands were being tied in front of me with thick rope, Remy was watching while balancing himself on a tree, my silenced handgun at the ready. He watched as I was thrown into the pit. The New Breed started jumping in after me until one remained behind. Before the dog could jump in, Remy shot him in the head with my silenced handgun, blood spilling on the dirt, and body hitting the ground. He's quite the expert gunslinger. He switched the safety on, pocketed my handgun, jumped down from the tree, and picked up his rifle. "Now I wait for Chase and Jack" he said to himself as he stared proudly at his kill.
