> Dark Magic > by DawnedDusk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Edge of Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The purple alicorn pony galloped through the ruins of her teacher's castle. The hour was late, far from after Luna had raised the moon, about 3 hours past midnight. She didn't want anypony to know she was coming here. This was her time for her 'special' training. The princess pony slowly approached the library where she found the diary of princesses' and there she also found something else. Something that intrigued her more than anything else. The pony, known as Twilight Sparkle, lifted one of the old torn tarps from off the wall and began to glare at the strange markings carved into the wall behind it. Her eyes flared a reddish green around her pupils and a dark purple aura formed from around her eyes. Once she built up enough of the dark magic, her horn grew a black toxic aura around it and then shot a beam into the markings. A rumbled noise came after and began to shake the ground as a wall lifted to reveal a hidden room. Twilight stood her ground, making sure not to fall down. She had fell the first time she'd opened the secret room, and knew better this time. She had gotten use to this routine for awhile now. The room was darkly lit, only a few torches perched up on the wall illuminated it. Sitting there in the middle of the room, was a book sitting open on the top of a stand. Twilight stretched out her wings and lifted herself off the ground. She turned around, and used the dark magic to lower the wall before gliding to sit on her haunches in front of the book. There was princess sat and read of the magic that she's grown obsessed to use. That of wish she became interested in learning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Twilight?" The purple pony stirred around in her small bed, only letting out a few groans of protest. "Twilight!" She opened her eyes up slowly, blinking a few times to adjust her vision. She looked over to the side of her bed and there stood a small purple dragon looking up at her. She frowned, a bit cranky. She had spent more time out then she had planned to. "What is it, Spike?" she asked in an annoyed tone. "Sorry, Twilight. Its just, you've been asleep for a long time. I was surprised when I got up that you were still asleep. Usually, your up before me. You were suppose to head down to Apple Arces 20 minutes ago, I think everypony is waiting for you.By the way-" "Ugh," Twilight scoffed before correcting herself. "Sorry Spike, I'm just a little tired is all." She jumped down from her bed and headed to the door. "You stay here, I need you to put back those books over there," she said in between yawns. Before Spike could say anything, she had already went out the door. I need to go a little earlier next time, she thought to herself as she flew towards Apple Arces. She'd gotten used to flying with her new wings after awhile that it was becoming something that was more usually to do than it did a couple weeks ago. "There she is!" a high pitched voice shouted. Twilight saw her friends from a distance. They were sitting on a picnic table eating lunch. "Hey Sugarcube, we didn't think you were gonna make it," Applejack said as she landed and took her seat. "I'm sorry guys, I overslept," she apologized. "Thats new," Rarity spoke, "You usually are a bit too early for things like this." The white unicorn's comment made Twilight frown a bit. "It's fine, Twilight. We actually just started eating," Fluttershy commented. Her sweet voice made Twilight feel a bit better. She levitated a daisy sandwich toward her mouth before taking a bite. The rainbow haired Pegasus sitting across from her stared deeply at her. "Whats wrong with your eyes?" she asked. Twilight raised a brow toward her before Pinkie Pie grabbed her face and began squeezing it. The pink pony stared at her wide eye'd before shouting and falling backwards. "You sure ya okay there, Sugarcube? Your eyes are a bit, erm," the country pony said as she walked over to the alicorn and placing a hoof on her shoulder. Twilight began to feel a bit frustrated, "I'm fine. What do you mean whats up with my eyes?" Rarity levitated a mirror from one of her saddle bags that sat next to her on the bench. "Well just look at yourself, Darling. You look absolutely dreadful!" Fluttershy turned her head and frowned towards the white unicorn. "What?" she asked. Applejack glared over to Rarity, "Just leave the honesty to me, Rare." Twilight stared into the mirror. Her mane was messy and her eyes were blood shot, but it wasn't just that. Around her pupil there was a reddish green color that faded into her usual eye color. She ignored it. That happened often after she'd practice using dark magic, but she was concerned because the effects didn't usually last this long. She simply pushed the mirror away, "I'm fine. I was just up late studying is all. I just need to sleep." "Are you sure?" Rainbowdash asked her. "I'm fine," she said firmly as she grew angry. "But-" STOP. "I'm fine." "Twilight, we just-" STOP IT. "I'm okay, just-" SHUT UP. "Twilight?" "LEAVE ME ALONE!" the alicorn yelled in the royal canterlot voice as a beam of magic shot from her horn and blasted the ponies away from her. They were sprawled around in different directions. Each were covered in scratches or bruises, Applejack and Rainbowdash were the only two who had enough strength to at least look at her. They were both wide eye'd and terrified. Twilight stared at them, sadness in her eyes as she could not believe what she had just done. Her gazed quickly hardened as she opened her wings and launched herself into the air, fleeing the scene. "Twilight, wait!" > Diving Into Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight flung to door open to her library home and charged in. Spike was putting up the last book when she came in. “Twilight, what’s wrong? Where did you go? What-“the dragon paused in his sentence as the alicorn approached him. Staring at him with a mad glare, this scared him and made him feel threatened. “Twilight what’s wrong with you?” he said questioning her eyes. Silence him. Twilight shook her head as that thought appeared. She sat down on her haunches and rubbed her head gently with the tip of her hooves. I didn’t think that, she thought to herself. Now that she thought about it a little bit more. It was more like a voice. Spike broke the silence as he called her name again. “Spike, I want you to go to Fluttershy’s and stay there. Do not come back until I tell you to, understand,” she ordered, “Tell her I sent you.” He backed up, she was sending him away? He never liked the idea of that. “But Twilight-“he started. “But nothing! I am your princess! You listen to me!” she yelled in an outburst of rage as she shot a magic blast toward the books ;causing them all to fly from their shelves and some to burn with a green and red flame. With this, Spike ran out the door, glancing back a couple times. Twilight sat down again, taking in breaths trying to calm herself. I need to visit Zecora, she thought. The purple pony wished not to confront the Princesses about it. For she knew they would be deeply disappointed with her and that there would be consequences. She walked out and opened her wings, before she took off; she noticed that the tips of them were now a black hue. It was the same with her hooves and mane. It looked like it was spreading. She shook her head, the more I think about it, the worse I’ll get. She shot up into the sky and headed towards the Everfree Forest. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “I am full of sadness! For I cannot help you, you will succumb to the madness!” Twilight walked around the home of the zebra. “Please, Zecora!” she shouted as she peered through the window. The zebra was racing around her hut, grabbing potions and the masks upon her wall; almost as if she was packing. The alicorn began to panic. Use the spell. There was that voice again, but this time it did say something that would be useful at this time. “I’m sorry Zecora,” she apologized as she built up the dark magic. When it reached its full capacity, she fired it at the frightened zebra. Breaking the glass and mostly burned away most of the wall. The mind control spell, Twilight thought, the rats couldn’t handle it. Maybe a zebra or pony can with stand it for awhile. The princess crawled through the space she blasted through the zebra’s home. Zecora stood there with wide eyes and faded pupils, a trance like state. “Find something to help me,” she ordered the mindless zebra. Zecora only gave a few odd nods. The zebra stumbled over and grabbed one of the potions on the shelf. It was an odd color, but Twilight didn’t question it. She used her magic to levitate the vile in front of her face. Twilight stared at the strange liquid before drinking it completely. Just then, the alicorn let out a scream of agony. She pressed her hooves on the side of her head as her wings flapped rapidly. The potion didn’t help at all! It only made things worse! The black and gray hues on her body faded more into her fur. The greenish red took more control of her eyes and the tips of her mane were now black and flowing like fire. Finally, the pain was over, but the madness and darkness still remained in her. She screamed at the entranced zebra. Twilight used more power; she wasn’t just controlling Zecora now. She was destroying her brain. Zecora came through now, but was only introduced to a world of pain. The zebra screamed and shouted until she finally collapsed to the ground. The purple alicorn pony walked out of the zebra’s home, getting ready to take off. I have no choice now, I have to speak with Celestia and Luna, she thought. They can’t help you. Just give up. Succumb to the darkness, Twilight. She ignored the voice, shaking her head until a familiar voice called through the wind. “Twilight!” The voice called. She turned her cranium to spot the three figures that were forming towards her. It was Rainbowdash, Applejack, and Fluttershy. Before they could get to her, she casted a dark spell around her body, it looked like a black lightning static around her. She frowned, “Stay away from me!” Before Rainbowdash could tackle her; she teleported herself into the throne room of her teacher. Celestia was looking over a letter with her sister Luna sitting beside her. Two royal guards stood in front of the large door and another two around the princesses. Twilight could tell that the guards seemed startled at her arrival because they were wide eyed. Luna was the first to speak up; Celestia was stuck in her own world for she was stuck in focused of the letter. “Celestia!” Luna shouted as she nudged her sister out of her state. Twilight gave her a sorrowful look, “Celestia please-“before she could finish her sentence. The alicorn ruler had shot a powerful magical blast at her. Twilight wasn’t able to move out the way when it hit. It had flown her a couple feet backwards. “Guards, sustain her!” Celestia shouted. The purple pony felt more pain tackle her body as she felt powerful hooves pin her to the ground. Her vision was fading now as she was beginning to pass out. “It’s happening again,” she heard Luna say as the world around her faded. > Succumbing Into Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Twilight, wake up,” a gentle voice called into her mind. The alicorn opened her eyes; she couldn't make out the forms in front of her. Her head felt heavy and as she tried to raise her foreleg to rub it, she was stopped. Her torso and fore-legs were closed together by a gain metal harness, no, it was more like a cage around her body; only her legs stuck out. She couldn't see anymore purple hues left in her fur. It was just a dark gray now. As her vision cleared, she could see her reflection on it. Her purple face was slowly being engulfed by the gray. Her eyes were now green with red around them, that also spreading slowly. She stared up, still weak with her body aching. She could finally make out the two figures standing in front of her. “Celestia? But, why did you-“Twilight began, but was stopped. “I've made the same mistake too many times, Twilight Sparkle. What’s happening to you has happened twice before,” the sun princess stated. “To Luna,” she said glancing towards the dark blue alicorn. She had her head bowed in silence before she broke the silence and continued for Celestia, “To a friend that turned into a monster. Into Sombra.” Into Sombra? , Twilight thought in confusion. Celestia looked away and sat down before answering. “King Sombra use to be Star Swirl the Bearded until the dark magic corrupted him. As you know, Luna and I turned him into shadow and banished him into the ice until we could eventually turn him back. “ “That is, until your friends destroyed him,” Luna finished in what sounded like an angry tone. King Sombra use to be Star Swirl the Bearded? Twilight repeated in her head. Celestia stood up, “Time is wasting. Your friends should be here by now. Come Luna,” the tall mare stated as she left the confused Twilight in her cell. Luna glanced at her a couple times before following her sister. My friends?, the purple pony thought longingly. Who were they? She was starting to forget. Their names and faces were a hard thing to remember now. They are those who have betrayed you. A shadowed figure formed from her own that had fixed itself on the wall; it resembled that of King Sombra, but instead it looked like this being was fading from existence. Twilight looked up; the space of fur around her eyes was the only part remained purple now. Her mane was now black; some of it flowed like fire but it was more than before. She stared at him hopelessly, “Betrayed me?” Is that Sombra? She thought, trying to remind herself. Didn't she destroy him? That’s right! “I thought we-“ “My essence survived dear, Twilight,” he spoke, “Now, I’m only here to help you. The power you now hold isn’t dangerous. Your dear ruler just wants you out of the way to remain on the throne,” he whispered as he swirled around her, holding her like that of a snake. Twilight was forgetting quickly which was perfect for him, old memories thrown out, and new ones are put in. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They were close now. Celestia, Luna, Applejack, Rainbowdash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity were close to arriving to the Tree of Harmony. They had stopped at Zecora’s cottage to see if she had anything, but they were shocked to find her place and her body in ruins. “So, Princess Celestia, are you sure that this will give us back, Twilight?” Fluttershy asked. Her forehead was bandaged and so was her left foreleg. Like her friends, she had faded scars here and there on her flank. “Yes, but we only have a limited window of time to save her. Once we retrieve the elements, the Tree of Harmony will start to die again. We have to save her before it dies for good,” she answered. “Luna, I will wield Twilight’s element. I only need you for back up if I was to fail,” she informed the blue alicorn as they approached the stairway that led down to the tree. The younger sister stopped in her tracks. “But sister, I-, “Luna began in protest. “I’ve made up my mind, Luna!” the white mare yelled. “Yes,” Luna answered, obeying her sister’s wish. The seven ponies stood in front of the tree. Celestia and Luna each levitated the elements to from their rightful places and put them in the empty necklaces of the small ponies before them. Celestia placed Twilight’s element in her old crown before placing it on top of her head. “Is everypony ready?” Luna shouted. “Ready!” the shouted. Celestia nodded at them, “Let’s go!” With that the ponies charged away. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is that true? The purple mare asked herself for she didn't know the answer anymore. “Join with me Twilight,” the shadowed Sombra whispered. She had no choice; this was all she knew now. She was darkness, and he was the only one she could trust. She simply nodded her head as the dark force entered her. Engulfing her into the darkness forever. > Fading Into Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Come my little ponies, we must hurry!” Celestia urged as they stampeded through the Everfree forest. Luna seemed worried, something just wasn’t right. She decided it was best to tell Celestia. “Sister, something isn’t right!” she shouted. The older sister did not reply as the approached the exit of the Everfree forest. Applejack galloped quick enough to be by her side, “It’s alright, sugarcube. Everythang is gonna be just-“She was interrupted by the screams and shouts of ponies. They were all followed by loud sounds of explosions. Ponyville was in ruins, houses had caught fire. Ponies were hurt and being beaten by a mixture of Celestia’s and Luna’s royal guards. In the distance, Applejack could see Apple Acres in flames. “Twilight,” Pinkie Pie muttered in a low tone instead of her high pitched happy tone as her mane flattened a little. “Princess, why are your guards attacking Ponyville?” Fluttershy asked confusingly. Celestia frowned as she stared on, “Twilight’s using a mind control spell. Come, we’re almost close enough that Luna and I could use a teleportation spell.” The Princess dashed off, avoiding the pleas of the ponyville citizens for her to save them. The rest began galloping after her, Rarity trotted slower behind them when she heard the sound of a dragon. She reared her head to see a grown mind control Spike in the distance, “Spike!” Rainbowdash flew back to the distraught unicorn, pushing her with her head. “The only way to save Spike is to save Twilight, so come on!” Rarity nodded her head, tearing filling her eyes as she muttered an okay. The ponies were close enough now; they could see the castle hinged to the side of the mountain. Though this did not look like the castle they knew. It was dark, a black color with dark green twisted vines growing around it. Luna stared, “Twilight, what have you done?” “Snap out of it Luna!” Celestia snapped, “I need your help with this teleportation spell. Luna shook her head, clearing her thoughts as they both began gathering the magic at their disposal. With a flash of light, they were teleported to the throne room only to be greeted by darkness. “I was wondering how long it would take,” a voice that sounded almost combined muttered. “Show yourself!” Rainbowdash shouted into the darkness. Just then flares of green fire shot up from six torches on each side of the room to reveal the dark Twilight. Her now black mane flowed into the air like fire. Her coat was a dingy gray color with her hooves a darker shade. Her eyes were red and green, no longer that beautiful purple, and the dark purple aura flowed around them. Her horn was longer and sharper with red tint on the top, resembling Sombra’s. She was also wearing his armor. “Twilight, you must stop this!” Celestia shouted with the stomp of her hoof. “We’re your friends, Twilight! Let us help you!” Pinkie Pie shouted. The dark alicorn only glared at them, her eyes almost piercing their souls. “My name is not Twilight anymore! I am now Midnight!” she shouted with the opening of her now larger wings. Just then, sharp crystal spikes shot from the grown in all sorts of different directions. It caused the ponies to step by in surprise, except for Celestia even though there was a spike pointed directly at her throat. Twilight, no, she was Midnight now, stepped down from her jagged throne. Clearing some of the spikes away to make a path for herself. “What makes you think you can stop this? Stop me?” she shouted in a booming voice. “Because we’re your friends Twilight,” Luna said. Midnight stopped her hooves hard onto the floor, causing it to crack, leading all the way up to the walls and ceiling. “Stop calling me that!” Midnight shouted again in a booming voice, “Your nothing but a 2nd hand. No one needs you. You’re useless.” Luna lowered her head, hurt by the words. It’s true, she thought. “No one needs you Luna!! No one needs any of you!” Midnight shouted, speaking in madness. The dark alicorn breathed heavily before shooting beams of magic from her horn at the ponies. They are tripped over each other, trying to dodge the beams. Two of them which burned Celestia’s legs as she tried to dodge without much effort, her over confidence was getting the best of her. Large slabs of crystal appeared from the walls as Midnight disappeared into the darkness. They looked around, only seeing their reflections on the walls. Just then, Midnight appeared in some of the slabs. The ponies shot their elements at the crystal, blowing it away only for it to regrow. “Oh no! Which one, which one? Which one have I become?” Midnight teased as she appeared in more than switching to others and others again. Celestia held up her hoof to stop the tired ponies, “Stop! They are all false! They’re not her! Just fakes!” Just then a magical blast hit them all in the back, flinging the ponies everywhere as they all shouted in pain. Midnight removed the elements from their holders. She circled them around herself, laughing manically. Celestia had enough strength to at least raise her head as the others groaned and moaned. “No!” she shouted. Midnight grinned as she shattered them to nothing but multi-colored dust. Before Celestia could get up, she used the mind control spell to push her back down. Though this time, she only controlled her teacher’s body. She wanted Celestia to be able to have a mind and feel just what was about to happen next. “Why don’t you all take a break? I want to spend some time with my dear teacher,” she said with a grin as she levitated their bodies to the back of the throne room before putting up a force field so she couldn’t be interrupted. The banged helplessly on the force field walls, shouting out Celestia’s name. “Princess Luna, do something! Use the teleportation spell!” Fluttershy shouted at the blue alicorn. Luna was staring helplessly sitting down on her haunches. “I can’t, it would just push me back here,” she answered as images flashed into her mind. This battle was so similar to that of her as Nightmare Moon facing her own sister. This time, things were different. This time there was no hope. > A Rebirth Into Light and Darkness > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Let's see those pretty wings of yours, Celestia," Midnight laughed as she raised her forelegs high in the air with each step in a mighty stride. Celestia twitched in pain as she tried to take control of her body again. Midnight grinned as she forced the mare's wings open. "Tia, its best not to struggle. Its just a waste of engergy," Midnight informed her as she began to mangle her wings; twisting and breaking them. The princess screamed in agony. Midnight dropped the mare's wings and turned her attention to the trapped ponies who were banging on the force field walls. "Everypony, look at this peon before me! Look at your dear sweet Princess Celestia. She's suppose to be your all powerful ruler!" Midnight paused as she levitated the broken pony into the air, "But she's just as pathetic and weak as the rest of you!" With that statement, the deranged mare began throwing Celestia's body against the walls and ceiling.Luna snapped out of her depressed state to see her sister be thrown around like a rag doll. She smashed her hooves onto the invisible wall and began shouting her sister's name. "You're sick!" Luna yelled. Smashing the broken mare's body onto the floor one last time, Midnight looked over her shoulder to the blue alicorn. She quickly levitated the mare towards her, freezing her body in one place. "I'm sick?" Midnight repeated, "That doesn't even begin to describe me." Just then, a shot of magic blasted from Luna's horn, sending Midnight flying across the room. The blue alicorn flew to the roof after being released from the dark magic. She heard the muffled cheer of the ponies shouting her name. Midnight looked up to the mare, "You're gonna regret that." The gray alicorn disapeared in a flash. Luna paniced, looking around only to have the pony appear before her. Midnight thrusted her hoove forward and gave a powerful blow to the mare's stomach. It sent her flying through the roof and into the sky. Midnight followed, keeping her up in the air by delivering powerful blows to the mare's face, sending her higher in higher into the air. She then dashed above the lunar princess and gave a powerful kick with her hindlegs. It sent the mare to fall at a rapid pace towards the ground. She landing with a power thud, next to her dying sister. Luna stared at the hardly breathing and bleeding alicorn with tears in her eyes, "I'm sorry." Celestia mustered enough strength to speak, but it was in stutters, "It's okay. I still have h-hope. St-Still have f-f-faith in you." Her breathing got slower, "There's always a light within the darkness." With those last words, Celestia's breathing stopped completely. Luna's eyes widend as she raised a hoof to nudge her sister awake. "Tia? Tia?!" she screamed before she began to sob uncontrollably, slumping herself over her sister's dead body. She sniffed, hearing the flapping of Midnight's wings as she drew close, about to re enter into the throne broken throne room. She recalled her sister's final words, Light in the darkness? What did that mean? Celestia also said something else. What was it? Hope. "That's it," Luna said as a her eyes lit up a strange mix of colors made up of both light and dark. Midnight entered the room, landing gently on her hooves as she looked to the blue alicorn who was holding her perished sister. She grinned, "It's about time you join her." She shot a large powerful magic blast at the pony and the space blew up in smoke. Midnight laughed maniacally, "I've won!" She turned to the ponies approaching the force field, "Bow to your ruler peons! For I have won!" Applejack grinned and pointed her hoof forward, "Guess again." The smoke cleared revealing a powerful Luna who was bathed in light and darkness. "Twilight Sparkle," she called in booming yet graceful voice. The alicorn's body glowed with a mixture colored aura of both light and darkness. Beams of the colors grabbed Midnight tight and pulled her so close that she stared into the alicorn's eyes. She could see the stars, sky, and universe reflect in them and it was overpowering. "How?" Midnight screamed as she felt her fur and skin burn. "You forgot Twilight. That there are other powers than light and darkness. There is always light with in the darkness and darkness growing within the light. There is magic of friendship and love, but there is also the magic of hope. For your crimes to Equestria, I banish you for as long as eternity until you've learned, until you're ready to return," Luna spoke as she casted a spell. "No. No. NO. NO! This is my time! Mine!" Midnight screamed as the room was bathed in colors in all sorts. When the magic faded, all that stood was Luna next to the body of her sister. She had a bold and serious expression as she stood tall. "Woo!" Pinkie Pie shouted as the ponies galloped to her, the force field gone. Fluttershy looked up at the princess, "Princess Luna, where did you send her?" The alicorn looked down to the pony, "I sent her to the realm of light and darkness. She'll return when she's ready." The yellow mare nodded as she walked over to join the ponies around Celestia's body to mourn. Applejack removed her hat and looked up to Luna, "Equestria looks to you now, Princess." The pony was right. With Celestia gone, she will have to rule Equesria on her own. It'll be difficult now that everything wouldn't be the same anymore, but maybe that was a good thing. Equestria can start anew, it can be reborn and Luna will have to be the one to guide it in the right direction. > Queen of Equestria > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's been a year since Twilight was corrupted, and Luna now ruled the land not as their princess, but as their queen. The blue mare sat quietly on her haunches on the balcony of the rebuilt castle. She had set aside a time in the middle of the one day to have both the moon and sun raised together to remind the ponies that there is both light and darkness and that time was over. With the glow of her horn, she lowered the moon giving her sister more time to stay in the sky. Luna sighed, lowering her head as she recalled the death of her sister. If only she were here, Luna felt that she was far from ready to rule Equestria on her own, but it was just something she would have to eventually get use to. She glanced around castle ground, spying the five ponies who use to be connected to the elements, Spike was with them too. Luna wasn't able to reduce his size completely, but he was at a state of mind that which was stable. Now, he just had the size of a large lizard. She had given Applejack, Rainbowdash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity the job to be the royal guards of Equestria and she put must trust in the ponies. She smiled slight before walking away from the balcony to sitting on her throne. She signed papers and read documents here and there the reported of progress, the building of new cities, and things of that matter. "It seems Equestria is finally recovering, my sister," she spoke turning her head to a large portrait of Celestia that hung onto the wall. Tears grew in her eyes as if she could hear her sister telling her that she was proud. The alicorn mare wiped them away gently with her hoof before levitating the signed documents to the side of the throne. Luna stared down to the floor, "If only I could bring back the one that was lost to us." She had been visiting Twilight, or Midnight which the mare preferred to be called, on a daily basis. Trying to bring her back in the right direction, but so far her efforts to reach out to the mare didn't seem to be working. Teleporting herself into the realm, Luna stood in the light. She strided over to where the darkness and light matched in the middle and sat down. There in the darkness, she couldn't spot the shape of her body, but only saw the glaring red and green eyes that seemed to illuminate in the darkness. "Hello, Twilight," Luna greeted. The mare slowly walked forward, approaching the light but not going into it's boundary, "It's Midnight." Luna raised a brown in suprise, for this was the farthest time the corrupted alicorn had walked towards the light. Luna rolled her eyes slightly, apparently 'Midnight' was determined to keep her newly found identity. The dark mare grinned. "I'm so proud of you, Luna," she poke in Celestia's voice. The queen stepped back, "Stop it." Midnight grinned again in a Cheshire smile before laughing. "Hurts doesn't it? You may have me trapped here, but unlike you I have not lost anything important. There is no pony I care for. Friendship may be magic, but it is not the kind I am after," and with that Midnight galloped back into the darkness. Luna hung her head low, she felt that she was slowly accepting that Twilight may be lost for good. No, she thought, pushing her doubts to the back of her mind. She quickly raise it high and stood tall with a bold expression. One day, I'll be able to save you. I'm not going to give up. I will show you the way to light, and I will bring you back Twilight. For me, for you, for your friends, and for my sister.
