> Gone > by delfin > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Gone. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I heard ponies screaming and the urgent sounds of sirens going off. I slowly opened my eyes, and I was on the hard packed, dirt encrusted ground. My head throbbing, I looked beside me and there she was: Rainbow Dash, knocked unconscious... or worse... dead. All of a sudden, It all came back to me. The memories flew through my mind; I saw Pinkie Pie, the blood, the knife, everything. Pinkie had attacked us. She invited us to a party and when we were there, she just must’ve – snapped. I closed my eyes and tried to remember everything. --- “Yay! I’m soo glad you guys could make it! Come on in!” Pinkie excitedly said. As everypony walked inside Sugarcube Corner, I followed the crowd. Inside, the bakery was the festively decorated. I took a look at everything; there were balloons, cake, and I even saw Gummy wearing a party hat. “Let’s paarrttaayyy!” Pinkie happily said as she turned on some music. We had a lot of fun, dancing, talking, eating cake... “This is some marvellous cake!” Rarity said, "Soarin', do be a dear and get me another slice?" "Umm... Yeah, sure," I replied. I began to search for the desert table, but I couldn't find it, so I decided to ask Pinkie Pie about its whereabouts. Pinkie was no where to be seen. “Uhm, Pinkie Pie?” I said, sounding uneasy. Then, all of a sudden, the power was cut off. I heard the frantic shrieking sound of screams, and I saw blood on the floor. It all happened way too fast for me to really comprehend it. I ducked down, and caught a glimpse of Rainbow Dash, lying on the floor, badly wounded. I stood up, ran towards her, and quickly carried both of us outside. When we were outside, I noticed that she was covered in blood. “Rainbow!” I yelled anxiously to her... She didn't reply. “Rai-“ I was cut off after a sudden rush of pain coursed through my leg, and I immediately fell to the ground, writhing in pain. I then felt the same rush of pain in my shoulder, and screamed in agony. I could feel the blood flowing out of my wounds, and I knew I was dying. My eyes caught Rainbow Dash's, and I saw that she was crying. I then lost consciousness, looking into her eyes. Those beautiful, magenta eyes... -- Paramedics had already arrived at the scene when I woke up. There were a couple of other ponies there, they were carrying Rainbow to the hospital. I stood up. Besides a few cuts and bruises, I was okay. I quickly ran towards the departing ambulance, desperate to see Rainbow Dash. I wanted to see what the situation was. When I got to the hospital, I burst into the room Rainbow was in, frantic to see her condition. I could hear some doctors talking by her bedside, but I couldn’t make out much words. I caught a brief glance at Rainbow Dash. Her eyes were closed and her mouth hung wide open. She could have been dead for all I knew. Suddenly, they asked everypony to leave the room, so I quietly left with a few nurses and glanced through the narrow window on the side of her door. I heard a voice shout, “CLEAR!” A large collection of magical auras zapped her, but nothing happened. My heart was racing, I was scared to death. They zapped her three more times, and each one failed. That was until I saw her slowly open her eyes. 'Thank Celestia,' I thought. I left my window and walked over to one of the generic hospital chairs. Sitting down, I began to lose my thoughts. I thought about how Rainbow Dash was almost killed. I thought about how I was almost killed. I thought about how I should tell her... Tell her about all the things that I never thought I would say... I would tell her my feelings toward her, how I always admired her personality, how I always admired her air tricks, how I admired her... I closed my eyes, and pictured the scene unravelling right before me. -- “Rainbow, I need to tell you something.” I would say with a serious tone of voice. “Sure, what’s on your mind?” She would ask. “Well Rainbow, I found out something.” I'd say, trying to look away from her beautiful eyes. “Oh yeah? What?” She'd ask with curiosity. “Well, I found out that I think have romantic feelings for you, Rainbow, feelings that I never would have thought I would ever have... But I realized I have always had them for you... I’ve always found my life to be so boring, until you came along, Dash...You are always full of so much action, so much “radicalness”, as you would say. You just changed me, Rainbow. You changed me in a way that I would never have thought somepony could do, and I guess that’s really why I'm telling you this now, anyways. I need to thank you. You’re a great friend Rainbow, the greatest friend that anypony can have.” Rainbow would stare at me, astonished. “I... I don’t know what to say…” She'd softly say. “Say whatever needs to be said, Rainbow.” I'd say, expecting the worse. She would look down for a few seconds, and then there would be an unbearable silence. Then, finally, she'd look at me, put my hoof in hers, and give me a genuine smile. “How does 4:00 sound for tomorrow?” She'd ask. “Uhm, 4:00 for tomorrow?” I'd ask, puzzled. “Yeah, for our date! Duh!” She would say with joy. “Oh, um sounds great!” I'd say, amazed at my success. “Awesome! I’ll see you tomorrow, then! Oh, and Soarin?” She'd say. “Ye-“ I would question, only to be cut off by a hug. I'd embrace the hug with glee, a smile upon my face. I would be the happiest I have ever been... --- Snap back to reality. I was still waiting at the hospital; it took them a long time. I stood up, looked through the door's window, and saw her. She was barely conscious... I still couldn’t believe this happened, that Pinkie just snapped like this. It’s really a mad world we live in. I had so many questions to ask. Where was Pinkie? Where was everypony else? I had no idea. Hopefully they were alright... Hopefully Rainbow was alright. Hours passed, but I still waited outside her room, sitting on the extremely uncomfortable hospital chairs. I didn’t mind waiting; for Rainbow Dash, I could wait forever. I took another peak through the window beside the door, and saw that they were injecting Rainbow with some sort of fluid. I saw a little orange filly walk inside her room, so I followed her; the doctors didn’t seem to mind. I stared at her, a frown outlining my face. She didn’t look too good... She had bandages all over her body and wings, and she looked like she was staring into space. I felt like asking the doctors about her condition, but just as I was about to, I heard one doctor shout, “Yup, Rainbow should be fine in about 20 minutes.” 20 minutes! This was great! I stepped back outside and sat down, overjoyed. All of a sudden, all my memories of her drifted through my mind. I remembered my memories of first meeting Rainbow. A smile spread across my face. I remembered it like it was yesterday. --- At the Grand Galloping Gala, I had just bought an awesome apple pie from an apple stand. While I was walking, I realized Spitfire was talking to me. “Always hungry after a show, huh, Soarin?” She asked jokingly. “Yeah!” I responded joyfully, not noticing that I had dropped the pie I was holding with my mouth when I spoke. "My pie!" I yelled in dismay, watching it fall to its doom. That was when Rainbow swooped right in out of no where and caught it at the last second. I looked at her, astonished. “You saved it, thanks!” I said to her with joy. When I thanked her for saving my pie, I stared at her, mesmerized. I swear, time stopped for a few seconds when I looked at her. Everything about her was perfect, her mane, her eyes, her wings, everything! I was in love, but I didn't realize it. “Hey, no prob!” She said back. Ever since then, I loved spending time with her. I loved being her friend. Man, those were good times. --- I looked at the clock, it had been about 45 minutes, so I decided to go back inside Rainbow’s room. I stared at her once more. She looked pretty stable, so I was glad. But then, I saw her staring at me, as if she was lost in thought. I was just about to talk to her when I heard the doctor speak to her first. Rainbow and the doctor were talking, but again I couldn’t make out the words, which was weird. The only thing I heard was the doctor say my name. After Rainbow Dash and the doctor finished their conversation, she hung her head low and started sobbing into her pillow. “Rainbow? What’s the matter?” I quietly asked, but she didn’t answer me. In fact, she acted as if she didn’t even notice me. I saw tears flow down her face. But then, I started crying too, I couldn’t believe it. The doctor had turned around from Rainbow Dash, and walked away right through me.
