> The Fall of Link > by Mr Zelda C Brony > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue (please read if you wish to know more) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those of us who have ever played Zelda before all know the story that the game follows: Villain emerges and causes evil, sometimes captures the princess or traps her in stone, hero is chosen then said hero goes on a quest through dungeons across the land to obtain certain special items needed to defeat said evil, hero wins, peace is restored, and the kingdom and the princess are saved the end, right? Well, what if, for once, Link (that's the main characters real name in the Legend of Zelda games for those who don't know) does all of this but fails to defeat the evil, in this case, Ganondorf, Lord of the Shadows, King of Evil, and Ruler of the Gerudo Thieves, and the finishing blow causes him to be trapped in an eternal void, as was the fate of all who Link has defeated before. Talk about irony. Of course, though being the goddess Farore's chosen champion, as well as the Hero of Time and the Savior of Clock Town (taken from the games "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask" from the N64), has its perks like, say, never truly dying. So, instead of the eternal abyss, Farore's attempt to stop the spell doesn't completely work and ends up only altering it. Now Link must recover, make some friends, and find his way back to Hyrule in order to save it from destruction. Will Link succeed, or will the Hero of Time, for once, be too late? > Chapter 1 "Bitter Failure" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "So, this is how it ends." Link thought as the world pulsated around him "I never thought this could happen" he thought, greatly saddened. "Hoho... The once great hero brought low." Ganondorf chortled, standing tall above the green clad hero. "Tell me, hero, how does it feel to be the one with a sword piercing his gut?" Link grunted in pain as he attempted to look at the dark lord. What he saw, though, did not help his feelings. The land where the two had engaged in battle was ravaged by large gash marks and a few small fires that continued to burn, and there was the dark lord himself, his cloak swirling in the fierce wind that blew across the field. His gem, the color of fresh blood, rested on his forhead glinting in the fire as if it were alive. Ganondorf also held a small bottle in one hand, which shone with a bright blue light. "Release me at once, Ganondorf!" Navi ordered angrily from her prison within the enchanted bottle. "How humiliating" she thought glummly. "Trapped within a bottle, like Link would do to a brain dead, yet useful, healing fairy." she concluded in her mind, nearing tears. "Oh but Navi, why ever would I do that?" The Gerudo king questioned, an evil grin on his face "With Zelda on the run, the Triforce broken into its main 3 pieces again, and the Hero of Time, the Savior of Termina, Farore's own champion lies defeated at my feat, slowly dying, while you, little Navi, and all of his friends are defeated and captured with no one to save them!" he ranted, practically crowing in triumph at his achievement. "Even with this glorious day already almost perfect, I have one final act to make it completely perfect. An act to truly ruin your little hero and claim revenge for myself and all my ancestors who have tried and failed time and again to achieve this." he said, sweeping a hand at the scene around him. "I shall imprison you, hero, in the very realm that you and your princess have sent my ancestors when they were defeated, you, hero, shall be trapped, floating in an empty void for eternity, constantly dying from your own sword, only for your blessing to bring you back, and let it happen again! Your very blessing, your gift from the precious Farore, shall become your curse." Ganondorf, the king of evil cackled maliciously. "Any last words, hero?" Ganondorf questioned, a lint in his eyes and a sneer on his face. "Oh wait," he said spitefully. "I forgot you can't say a word, you never have! Oh, silly me, how could I have ever forgotten..." he giggled slightly, staring at the hero pinned to the ground by the very sword that had been used to save Hyrule countless times, for countless generations. It was the Master Sword, the Bane of Evil, the Sword of the Goddesses and Link was helpless. Link could do nothing, weak as he was with his blood slowly leaking out, soaking into the ground turning it a dark red, a spot that would later become a monument in memory as it stayed red from that day on. Ganondorf laughed as he lifted his head to the sky, and it began to rain. Ganondorf began to build his blast of vile power so as to forever banish the courageous hero, Link slowly closed his eyes and made one last silent and final prayer to the goddesses, as well as to apologize for failing his duty. Then, as Ganondorf released the energy at the hero, time seemed to slow. Link's Triforce began to glow as he faced the blast unflinchingly, unafraid of death, and Navi screamed a sad heart piercing cry of "Noooooo!" The jar, her prison, suddenly no longer glowed with Navi's blue light but a dark green, the color of the leaves and the trees of the forest where Link was raised, the color of Links signature tunic the garb of the hero, the garb of Farore's chosen. Then, it all went black, the noise ceased, and Link lost conciousness as a small tear left his eye. > Chapter 2 "Where am I?" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pain. That's all Link felt as he slowly swam his way back to consciousness. Then, he began to hear the voices. "That's funny," he thought, slightly bemused. "Sounds pretty active for a so-called 'empty void'." "He's coming to!" he heard a panicked voice cry. Link cracked his eyes open, only to immediately slam them shut. With a grunt of pain and surprise, he blocked out the bright and glaring light overhead. "It's ok" he heard a voice say in a quiet, soothing whisper, though Link wondered on whether the comment was addressed to him or the panicked person he heard a moment ago. Link slowly attempted to raise himself but fell back upon the cushions with an anguished cry due to the extreme throbbing pain in his lower abdomen. "Oh dear," he heard the ever-present voice say "Are you alright?" it asked hesitantly. Link opened his eyes, slowly, so as to catch a glimpse of this disembodied voice, but what he saw was a strange and curious sight even to him. All around him, in the small room, were white walls and white floors and many rows of white, clean beds, some of which had others lying on them. Link was on top of three beds, but that was not the strangest part. All around him, walking around, and on the beds were PONIES! The ponies appeared to be of all shapes and sizes. Some had wings, others had horns, but a few had neither horns nor wings. "For the love of Nayru, where am I?!" Link wondered. "Oh, why, you are currently in the Ponyville Medical Facility." a nervous and subdued voice piped up from next to Link. Link turned to only be greeted by his disembodied voice: a nervous looking tan unicorn in white garb similar to those of the others walking around the room. "Amazing," Link thought in awe. "This small pony can not only talk, but can also read my mind!" "No, silly!" the unicorn said with a giggle. "You just keep speaking your thoughts out loud!" Link stopped at this, his eyes wide, feeling greatly puzzled. "But-" he thought, his lips moving out of pure habit. "I never talk, not since I was a young child." "Well," the unicorn countered. "You sure can talk now. So tell me, who are you and where are you from?" "Well," Link replied awkwardly, trying to get a grasp on talking for once. "My name is Link, and I come from a land called Hyrule." Link finished, still marveling at his new found ability of speech. "Hmm..." the unicorn pondered. "I have never heard of a land called Hyrule, but, then again, I mainly focus on medicine. However, I have a friend who may have heard of it. You stay here and rest while I go and get her." the unicorn said as she quickly exited the room. Link, with nothing else to do, and his wound still hurting him, laid back down upon the soft pillows and fell back into his dreams. At the Ponyville Library, Twilight Sparkle and her assistant, Spike, were finishing breakfast when a rapid knocking began at the door. With a sigh, Spike got up to go and answer the door, since Twilight was lost in her book as usual. As Spike opened the door, he was greeted by the sight of a very nervous, tan unicorn. She was practically trotting in place. The unicorn, whom Spike had seen on occasion at the Ponyville Medical Facility, was good friends with Twilight. "Twilight," she cried. "I need your help!" > Chapter 3 "What the Buck?" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Well good morning Nurse Caring” Twilight said with surprise as spike led the nervous mare into the dining room. “Good morning Twilight” Nurse Caring replied sounding more nervous than Fluttershy normally did. “What’s wrong Nurse Caring you seem extremely nervous today? Did something happen at the Hospital?” Twilight questioned the nervous mare. “Well yes and no Twilight” the poor nurse began “everyone at the hospital is perfectly fine but just recently we received a strange new patient. He is larger than a normal pony and doesn’t even look like a pony at all. He wears strange green clothes and has very pointy ears; he also says his name is Link and that he comes from a land called Hyrule. I don’t know where that is or where it could be but I thought you might. So … I decided to come to you for help” the nurse finished looking at Twilight in hopes that Celestia’s famous student might hold the answer to her problem. “Hyrule, Hyrule, Hyrule hmm” Twilight began to ponder “I definitely don’t remember it off-hoof but I might have information about it somewhere in the library” Spike hearing the name of the so called home of the mysterious new patient, he had just entered the room with some cups of coffee for the shaking nurse and Twilight, suddenly went pale. “D-did you say H-Hyrule?!?!” the poor drake asked beginning to turn a faint lavender instead of his normal dark purple. “Why yes Spike I did why is there a problem. Oh my Spike what’s wrong you look so pale!” Twilight said shocked by the dragons sudden color change. “Well, Twilight I umm recently got a book about humans, a fairy tale really, from Lyra, she had a few copies since she’s so obsessed about humans and she gave me a copy for the library” Spike said starting to ramble on a bit “ and I was very bored so I started to read it. And it well it wasaboutapersonnamedLinkwhohadanepicadventureinalandcalledHyruleandIstartedtowritemyownversionaboutmeandRarity!” “I’m sorry Spike I didn’t catch that last part what did you say?” Twilight asked confused by the poor drake’s rapid changing skin tone that was now the light pink he became when he was greatly embarrassed. “I said that the book was about a person named Link who had done an epic adventure in a land called Hyrule and” here Spike hesitated but Twilight motioned for him to continue “I might have written a version of it involving me and Rarity” Twilight who was just close enough to hear this chuckled well naturally “Oh Spike you don’t need to be embarrassed about that but can you please go get the book so we can head off to the Hospital and try to sort fact from fiction ok?” Twilight asked with a kind smile. Spike, relieved to no longer being questioned, left to go get the book that Twilight so badly needed. “Do you really think that the book Spike has might have any facts in it?” Nurse Caring questioned Twilight. “I don’t know Nurse Caring but there are too many coincidences between the book and what your new patient has said for us to ignore” Twilight stated a determined look in her eyes. A short while later Spike, Twilight, and Nurse Caring arrived at the Hospital near the center of Ponyville. As they entered the Hospital Nurse caring left them in the lobby while she went to get them visitor passes and make sure nothing had happened while she was at the library. “Well good news Twilight he is still asleep from when I left and hasn’t stirred but he is no longer in danger of dying like he was when he arrived” Nurse Caring said with a bright smile “So here are yours and Spikes visitor passes so you can come in and see him” “That’s great Nurse Caring I’m very eager to meet this ‘Link’ fellow I have so many things to ask him especially if he really is the same Link from spikes book. You know I was reading it while we were waiting and he sounds really interesting and extremely powerful for a human with no magic.” Twilight said beginning to “egghead out” as Rainbow Dash would say. “Really Twilight that does sound amazing” Nurse Caring said nodding as her eyes began to glaze over from boredom thanks to twilights speech. Spike seeing this and deciding that he should do his best to keep the medical personnel alive made the brave decision to stop Twilights rant. “Umm hey Twilight” Spike spoke up “instead of talking about it here how about we go and talk to him in person to see if it is true or not that way you can check your theories.” “Why you are absolutely correct Spike why waste time theorizing when I can go prove it quick come on Spike and Nurse Caring I must see him. Which room is he in?” Twilight said shocked by her lack of insight about this. “Well umm…” Nurse Caring stammered shocked out of her stupor “he is in room number 32 in the Main Wing” she said shooting Spike an appreciative glance thanking him for his quick save. “Ok let’s go hopefully he will be awake when we get there!” Twilight said nearly shouting only to be shushed by many Doctors and Nurses “whoops sorry about that” Twilight replied sheepishly. Link never really wanted much just some peace and quiet and maybe for Hyrule to not be attacked by a new or reoccurring evil every year or so and maybe time for him to recover after each epic journey and maybe a kiss or two from Princess Zelda. What he didn’t expect or want was to go to a normally routine and annual battle with Gannondorf like normal and get his butt defeated and sent to a strange world inhabited by, of all things, PONIES or to be able to talk for the first time in his life normally Navi did the talking for him or that one time with Midna and the other time he had Navi’s Cousin Tatl helping him. He also did not expect to be taken to a hospital to recover only to be rudely disturbed by a purple pony with a horn on her head, a purple dragon, and the tan unicorn from earlier but that’s what happened whether he wanted or expected it or not. “So it’s this room right…. Oh you were right Nurse Caring he most definitely is not a pony” these were the words that woke Link up out of his troubled sleep. He opened his eyes only to groan for there instead of the ponies that had been coming in and out to check on him it was the tan unicorn he met when he first woke up, and she had brought others ‘oh joy’ Link thought ‘company.’ “Twilight I said you had to be quiet you might wake him up and he really needs his sleep to recover correctly.” That was that nice tan unicorn he met originally Link realized he had earlier asked one of the other ponies her name and been told it was Nurse Caring. Therefore he guessed the purple one who just woke him up must be Twilight. Link opened his eyes and slowly sat up. “Umm Twilight” the small purple dragon on ‘Twilight’s’ back said tugging on her mane “What is it Spike?” Twilight said ‘So’ Link mused ‘Spike must be the name of the dragon on Twilight’s back’ “You might want to look behind you. Like right now” Spike said nearing panic as Link reached his full height, well his full height sitting down that is, Spike continued to tug on Twilight’s mane. “Ow Spike your starting to hurt m…..” Twilight stopped suddenly as she looked behind her to reprimand Spike only to see the source of his terror and discomfort. “Umm Nurse Caring” Twilight called out into the hallway never looking away from Link “I think he’s awake.” “…. And that’s how I ended up here” Link said finishing his narrative. After Twilight and Spike got used to how large and imposing Link looked they were able to talk about his past. “So this book is entirely true?” Twilight questioned passing ‘this book’ towards Link; it was labeled ‘The Legends of Hyrule’s Savior’. “Yes” Link replied “Strangely enough that is the exact account of both my quests to save Hyrule and those of my ancestors whose memories I have within me as well. “That’s brilliant” Twilight said merrily studiously taking notes on the entire conversation while Spike sat there and stared at Link in awe. Link had become a role model for Spike just by reading the book and now here was Spike’s role model and personal hero sitting before him real and alive. Link was a person whom Spike thought was just a fairy tale and that what Link had done was impossible yet here was Link who admitted to doing all those things and even said some were greatly exaggerated he didn’t brag and say he was a hero he let his actions speak for themselves, he was a true hero without even trying. “Well” yawned Twilight “Spike and I should be heading home but can we come visit you tomorrow?” “Actually” interrupted a Doctor before Link could respond “we will be discharging Mr. Link here in an hour” “What!” Twilight said instantly waking up “Well yes” said the Doctor “he is perfectly healthy and is only taking up space here in our hospital space that could be used elsewhere so we are discharging him with a clean bill of health.” “But where will he go” Spike asked desperately curious. “That” said the Doctor with an air of finality “is Mr. Link’s problem not ours we tend to the sick not the perfectly healthy” “Oh dear what to do oh what to do” Twilight muttered as she paced back and forth in the cramped room Spike seeing a way to learn more about this great hero and a way to also allow Twilight to learn more from Link as well decided to speak up. “Hey Twilight I have a good idea” Spike stated. “Ok and what is your idea Spike” Twilight asked feeling very nervous about this new problem. “Well we recently had the library expanded and we have some large and empty rooms that could easily fit Link and I bet we could extend a bed in order to fit him.” Spike said excitedly hoping that his idea was a good one. “Well Spike that’s a uh …… THAT’S A GREAT IDEA SPIKE!!!” Twilight cried excitedly. Spike smiled brightly pleased at the acceptance of his idea. “What do you think Link would that be ok with you?” Twilight asked hopefully. Link’s only response was a smile and a nod of his head. > Chapter 4 "Meet the Royals" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hey Link you want to go to Rarity’s with me? I think she has your suit finished.” Spike called out into the library. It had been 2 days since Link was evicted from the Hospital and had come to stay in a spare room in the Ponyville Library with Twilight Sparkle and her assistant Spike. Already though he had seemed to become part of their little group to where he was often asked to help out Twilight or to hang out and ‘Bond’ with Spike, that’s how Twilight put it. “Yeah, sure Spike” Link replied “I can’t tell you how glad I will be when I can wear my real clothes instead of this outfit” he stated motioning to the said outfit, ‘this outfit’ consisted of a rough looking shirt that had been cobbled together from a variety of pieces from a couple of different types of fabric all badly stitched together by Link himself. This shirt was accompanied by a pair of dark brown pants, which barely fit him and still left his ankles slightly exposed, provided by Twilight’s kind friend Applejack who got them off an old scarecrow she had found in her barn. The only reason he wore this outfit was because he was informed by Twilight the outfit he was wearing when he first arrived in Equestria had been badly ripped, burned, torn, and bloodied due to his gruesome battle with Ganondorf. Upon arriving at the library Twilight’s friends had been waiting for them, he later learned that Twilight had sent a message ahead to call them there, only to hear many a shocked gasp. He gave a sort of smile as he thought back on that day. *Flashback* = Arrival at Library 1st day out of Hospital (or really more like 1st hour) = *Gasp* went all 5 ponies currently gathered in the main room of the Library. The reason for their surprise was the very tall figure currently entering the Library directly behind their friend Twilight. Now each of the ponies gasped for a different reason. Pinkie Pie, a pink pony with cotton candy looking hair, gasped because he was a new person/pony in Ponyville and therefore needed a party for him. Rarity gasped after catching a look at his outfit and his build thinking that it would be great to attempt making clothes for him and she also gasped at seeing the amount of damage to his outfit which she thought was a crime against fashion to ruin something so wonderful. Fluttershy gasped after realizing he was a new creature she had never seen and wanted to learn more about him. Rainbow Dash gasped thinking he might be a possible attacker and a danger to Equestria. While Applejack gasped from his build the amount of strength he might possess and the possibility of getting his help on the farm to finish up with bucking season. Then they all began to overcome the few things keeping their questions at bay and opened up. Link was very surprised that there were others within the Library and wondered why they were there to begin with then they all seemed to solve something and their mouths opened wide. At first it was a torrent of words that just about overwhelmed Link until Twilight stepped in. “Girls, girls please Mr. Link just left the Hospital and he most definitely does not need to be berated with questions at the moment” Twilight says sounding horrified by her friend’s actions. There were mumbled apologies from the other 5 mares in the Library. “But darling” stated a bright white Unicorn with a carefully styled purple mane sounding almost frantic “you simply cannot wear such a tragedy in fashion like that. I mean honestly that beautiful outfit just ruined by those rips, tears, burns, and … IS THAT BLOOD!!!!!” the white unicorn almost screeched sounding more and more frantic “you just have to let me fix it for you” she said with an air of finality that did not encourage argument. “Oh Rarity” grumbled an orange Earth Pony wearing a cowboy hat “it always turns to fashion with you doesn’t it?” “Well, of course it does Applejack” the white Unicorn, or Rarity, stated sounding wounded “Fashion is an important part of life” “But wait” stated the bright pink earth pony, “you can’t fix his outfit he has nothing else to wear and he has to have that EXACT outfit for later or else he can’t finish his quest!” she finished brightly looking up from a strange glowing rectangle in her hooves. “Umm Pinkie none of that made any sense except the part about how he has nothing else to wear, also where did you get that strange device?” stated a cyan blue Pegasus with a rainbow colored mane and tail. There were mumbles of agreement all around the room as Pinkie Pie quickly hid the device with a look of innocence on her face. “I hate to say it Rarity” stated Twilight “though most of what Pinkie said, as Rainbow Dash pointed out, is weird and makes no sense, she is right. According to Lyra, humans have strange nudity taboos and wear clothes whenever in public and most of the time in private as well” Twilight said giving an apologetic look to her white friend “Well… I could…. He could…..” Rarity said floundering for a way to satisfy her desires to repair his outfit. “Umm if it helps I could make a temporary outfit if I had some string, a needle, some cloth scraps, and maybe some already made pants” Link stated. Speaking for the first time to the five mares, shocking all of them. “Oh wow! H-he can talk” said a small, timid voice from a quiet looking yellow pegasus with pink mane and tail in the back of the room “that’s amazing” she said rapidly flying to be right in front of Link “I’m Fluttershy and it’s so nice to meet you” “Um, well it’s a pleasure to meet you as well Miss Fluttershy” Link said giving a slight bow and a small smile. “Oh my, what type of creature are you? I’ve never seen a creature like you before, are there others of your kind or *gasp* are you the only one of your kind!?!?” said Fluttershy becoming very interested in Link and his possible endangered spot in nature. “Fluttershy I think you may be hurting him” stated Twilight noting the look of pain on Link’s face and the fact that his fingers, on his arm that Fluttershy was gripping, were turning pale from a lack of blood flow. “Oh!” Squealed a startled Fluttershy “I am so sorry, I didn’t know!” Fluttershy quickly released poor Link’s arm and backed away about a foot from Link. “It’s alright” said Link with a grimace as he restored blood flow to his lower arm and fingers “I’ve had to deal with worse over the course of my life” he stated giving a small grin to the poor yellow Pegasus “Umm hey guys I hate to ruin introductions but we need to hurry up and finish this flashback for the poor writer so he can get back on track!” stated Pinkie Pie brightly “Also Rainbow before you ask, Link here is not a spy he is a hero! And Fluttershy, Link is not alone he is a human from a land called Hyrule. Well, I think that’s all. BACK TO YOU MR. WRITER!!” Pinkie Pie said finishing it with a scream at the end while slipping the strange glowing tablet away and out of sight again. *sigh* Pinkie Pie as much as I appreciate the help you can’t keep breaking the fourth wall all the time. I know some people love it, but others see it as a way for writers who are lost to move the plot along so instead of breaking the fourth wall with your tablet. HELP ME GOSH DANGIT!!!! After everyone finished staring at Pinkie Pie as she walked off talking about planning a party and arguing with someone called “Mr. Writer” about story ideas and plot concerns, everyone pitched together and helped Link make a new outfit into which Rarity changed him into in under a minute flat after which she galloped off to her boutique to repair his clothes while everyone else headed back home. Twilight then arranged a place for Link to sleep as the day drew to an early close for all the ponies and Link himself. *End Flashback* So Spike and Link started to head over to the Carousel Boutique and upon entering they were greeted by an ecstatic Rarity who could not wait to reveal her newest masterpiece to Spike and Link. “Oh do come in please you simply can’t make me wait any longer!!” Rarity said almost screeching into poor Link’s ears as she dragged the two of them into the other room which seemed to have a catwalk with a small room at one end of it. “I just recently had this put together and I’ve been dying to try it out” Rarity was hopping for joy at the thought of finally utilizing the newest addition to her Boutique. She then led Link into the room at the end of the catwalk, after getting Spike to sit at the other end with the help of a large ruby. In the room was Links’ gear and clothes, all of which looked as if they had just been created that very morning, even his tunic looked as if it had never been worn before. “Why Rarity, they look amazing!” Link said astonished by the transformation of his gear. “Oh Darling it was nothing, though I was unable to do anything about that sword it just would not leave its sheath or respond to any of my magic it caused me no end of trouble!” Rarity stated sounding slightly frustrated at her inability to completely refurnish all of the gear. “Oh, I’m sorry about that Rarity” Link said feeling slightly guilty that his gear had caused the fashion obsessed Unicorn problems “but it can be very selective about who it allows to wield it” “Wait” said the unicorn sounding surprised “that sword has magical enchantments?” “Well, yes and no” the hero hesitantly replied “it is a sword capable of magic but it is also magical itself and houses within it a magical being from the goddesses, tasked with protecting the sword and aiding the sword’s wielder in any way possible.” “That is amazing” stated Rarity slightly slack jawed “but you must be careful dear, if Twilight were to hear of its magic, she will want to study it to no end and you might never get it back.” “Ok, I’ll keep that in mind, thanks Rarity” the hero replied quickly committing her statement to memory. “Oh but here I am flapping my gums when I should be letting you get back into your gear!” Rarity said with a slight gasp eager to see Link back into his original outfit so as to see if she had correctly mended the items. “Oh alright Rarity I’ll get changed as soon as possible” Link said, a small smile on his face as Rarity hurried out of the small changing room. It only took Link a few minutes to get fully changed back into his original gear, and on his way to show it off to Rarity and Spike he dropped his makeshift outfit into a nearby garbage bin ‘won’t be needing those ever again’ thought Link with a smile of satisfaction. “Oh Link you look just absolutely marvelous!” Rarity said ecstatically as Link emerged from the curtained section of the boutique to show off himself in his original outfit. “Well Rarity, most of the credit goes to you since you are the one who mended it after all” Link said, ever the modest one. “Well Link we should be heading back now.” Spike said with a little sigh at the prospect of leaving his precious Rarity. “Twilight wanted us to get back to the Library as soon as we could after you got suited up again. She said something about a big plan that she can’t wait for or something like that.” “Ok then Spike let’s go, bye Rarity and thanks again for mending all my gear for me.” Link said as he left the boutique dragging Spike behind him. Upon arriving at the Library they were immediately greeted by Twilight Sparkle whose mane was not in good shape and she also had a slight twitch in her right eye. All of these signs, as Spike and Link had learned, meant that Twilight was greatly stressed about something that was extremely important to her. “Ah Link, Spike you guys are finally here! I was worried you guys wouldn’t show then what would I say to Celestia!” Twilight said getting very close to shouting. “Don’t worry Twilight we’re here now okay” Spike said speaking slowly in an attempt to calm her down. “But that’s part of the problem Spike we’re all here when we need to be at the train station!” Twilight said nearing full-panic mode. ‘Oh dear’ Link thought shaking his head sadly ‘this is going to be a long day.’ 2 HOURS LATER CANTERLOT “So let me get this straight your mentor or teacher whatever you call her happens to be the ruler of your entire country?” Link stated with a tone of disbelief. “Yeah pretty much” said Twilight with a small smile. Link, Twilight, and Spike were walking down the main street of Canterlot on their way to the Palace to meet Celestia, the teacher of Twilight whom Link very much wanted to meet after hearing about her. Halfway to the palace though, Twilight decided to send Spike off to go get some supplies for which she gave him plenty of money to do. After a few seconds of reluctance Spike set off, but was soon going at a run after Twilight told him that the extra money was for a nice gem lunch if he met them back at the station in about 5 hours. Upon arriving at the castle where Twilight’s mentor lived and worked. Link noticed many guards dressed in golden armor standing by all the doors which made him very curious. What was even stranger was that he saw a garden filled with statues. But that was not what puzzled him, what puzzled him was that the layout of the garden looked just like the personal garden at Hyrule castle, the one that he snuck through when he first met Princess Zelda. The duo walked through the doors after Twilight and the guards exchanged a few words, which Link did not hear since he was lost in thought, but he snapped back to the present as the grand doors opened. “Might I present the Royal Princesses; Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Princess Cadance” announced one of the many guards in the room. Link after hearing this statement suddenly took off… right at the Princesses. Everyone in the room froze for a few seconds as Link started his mad dash across the short span of distance between him and the Princess’, but the guards quickly started moving the moment Link started pulling his sword out of its sheath and let his shield slide into place on his arm. The guards were a few feet behind him when he suddenly did a snap turn and slid a few meters until he was posed in a battle ready position located at a short distance from all three Princesses with such an icy cold look on his face that it could have frozen a volcano in under second. The next moment Link was thrown into a wall and was highlighted by a lavender aura identical to the one on Twilight’s now glowing horn. “Link what the buck are you doing?!?” Twilight demanded. An ocean of anger threatening to pour out of her eyes. ‘I cannot believe he would do something like this to me’ Twilight thought, shocked ‘he seemed fine on the train, a bit distant but fine… so why would he…..’ Twilight’s thoughts were interrupted by Links reply to her earlier question. “I am attempting to ensure the safety of certain individuals!” Link said sounding slightly panicked as he rapidly searched the room with his glancing, wide eyes. “And just how is running at the Princesses’ ensuring someone’s safety?” Twilight questioned, worried she had slammed Link against the wall too hard. “Well if you remember Twilight, things happen to Princesses’ whenever I’m around so this time I was going to make a pre-emptive strike by guarding them before anything could happen!” Link declared looking proud at attempting to stop misfortune. “Well, in that case” Princess Celestia said standing up, her now full appearance seemed to calm everyone down. “I assure you, Mr. umm Link was it? That my niece, sister, and I can defend ourselves quite well.” Shortly after that was all sorted out Twilight, Link, and the Princesses went to a private council chamber and shared information. *3 Hours Later “Well that could have started better but I think the end result was ok” Twilight said with an exhausted smile as they exited the castle. Link was with her, whistling a peculiar tune and looked slightly sad as he did so. “Yeah, sorry about that Twilight” Link said a bit sheepishly. Twilight was about to respond when there was a sudden commotion near the center of town that caught her attention. “Now what in Tartarus could that be?” Twilight asked out loud Suddenly a large pony with a brown coat and a white mane and tail came barreling at Link. “Epona!” Link shouted looking as surprised as Twilight as he ran to his loyal steed. “Now how on earth did you get here?” Back in Hyrule 30 Minutes Before “Man I’m bored” stated Ganondorf quite plainly though no one was around to hear him. “Maybe I shouldn’t have sent Link to the abyss so quickly at least then we could have a rematch every now and again but NOOOOO! I just had to feel great and send him away, well look how long that lasted! *sigh* what is there to do..?” Suddenly two old ladies who looked identical but wore different colored identical outfits and riding brooms came flying forward. “Lord Ganondorf” cried one of them. “What is it? Can’t you see I’m moping?” Ganondorf asked rising in anger. “Why yes my Lord but that is why we have come so soon. We have found the heroes horse!” Cried the other witch in a great hurry to appease Ganondorf’s wrath. “What you mean that thing he calls Epona?” Ganondorf asked feeling curious. “Yes my Lord the very one!” Stated the witch feeling pleased that Ganondorf’s anger was fading. “Bring me the horse! I shall tame it and ride it through the town to crush the last remnants of hope!” Ganondorf declared proudly, and loudly. 25 Minutes Later “…. Do you think he will be okay?” asked one of Ganondorf’s many minions “I don’t know” responded another “that fall looked like it hurt and he was pretty angry….” “STUPID HORSE!!!” Screamed Ganondorf, his green face darkening to almost black. “That’s IT! I’ll send you to the same realm I sent your master! That will teach you to make a fool of GANONDORF!” Ganondorf then began to prepare his magic, but in a nearby corner where she lay in her cage forgotten, Navi watched…and waited. ‘Link is not in the empty realm but I do know that where he is will soon be in danger…he might need his horse.’ Navi thought as she readied her magic. Smiling menacingly, because well gosh darn it he was evil after all, Ganondorf released his magic and it glowed so darkly that no one near, except Navi, noticed the small point of green at the center of the spell. 5 Minutes before Link and Twilight leave the Palace Epona picked herself up feeling slightly dizzy after her quick dimension hop, courtesy of Ganondorf Travel ‘we do evil, with a smile!’ She noticed she was somewhere very new and on the outskirts of a large town. Suddenly Epona smelled her master and dear friend, Link. Kind of hard not to as he was the only human and he had not washed recently, she turned towards the source of the smell and set off in a quick gallop. And finally back to the present “It’s got to be a sign from the Goddess!’” Link said a large smile on his face “I mean for Epona to show up AND to have all my gear in her saddlebags it’s just amazing!” “Yeah” said Twilight in reply ‘almost like a quick shortcut in a story done by an author who was at a loss and needed a quick way to get someone ready for an adventure… nah’ Shoot she’s figured me out! I have to be more careful from now on! Don’t worry Mr. Author! We can keep Twilight clueless for a bit longer to where she won’t remember this! PINKIE GET BACK IN THE STORY!!!! But when do I get involved again? *pouty face* Next chapter now GO! Ok! Ok fine I’m going but you better keep your promise…or else. FINE! PINKIE PROMISE! Really? YES! Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye! THERE! HAPPY!? Yep! But remember, “NO ONE BREAKS A PINKIE PROMISE!” *leaves and slams door* So now with our Hero re-united with his dear horse and all of his gear, and money which has mysteriously turned into bits…don’t ask me how or I’ll just say MAGIC and be done with it. They returned to Twilights, so they can sleep and prepare for the next day. > Chapter 5 "Dealings in the Dark" > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Equestria 2 days before Link’s arrival- Deep within the gardens of Canterlot castle there laid statues that no sculptor would ever create…. Some are strange at best, while others look surprisingly normal... these statues are those whom have been imprisoned in stone by The Elements of Harmony. They are also some of the most dangerous creatures in all of Equestrian history, and are great threats to the peace that all ponykind has come to know. Very few ponies visited them and all hoped they would stay imprisoned forever…. But one of them, was starting to crack. Discord stretched, knocking the few remaining pieces of stone off of him with a little yawn. He casually stretched out his giant lion’s paw and magically poofed up a calendar so that he could check the day and year. “Well, well, well…” Discord mumbled to himself “seems those girls had me locked in stone for a few months, how naughty of them” he was smiling slightly now. Discord then began to walk towards the garden’s entrance so as to stretch his two tired legs. Halfway to the entrance, well really it was about to be his exit. He spotted a strange floating ball of energy, this time fissure glowed with a pulsing white light and stayed there floating mere inches from him. “Well now, this is different” said Discord thoroughly puzzled. He then walked up to it and tentatively touched it with a single griffon claw, and vanished along with the time fissure itself. Hours later the Royal Guard would discover the issue of Discord no longer on his podium and would immediately report it to Princess’ Celestia and Luna, but since Discord had caused no trouble, a trait that was unusual when it came to him, they decided to keep the matter between themselves. Through the mysterious fissure lay a hole in both space and time, and in this hole was a box… and a newly added god of chaos of course. The box was not just any box, it was a blue box. A blue police box to be exact, it looked as if it was fresh off the streets of old London. But this was not an old London era Police box, this was a T.A.R.D.I.S, a Time And Relative Dimension In Space, and it was being driven by a man known to many as “The Doctor”. Inside the T.A.R.D.I.S many lights began to blink and flicker in random patterns causing the Doctor to frown as he glanced at his readings and instruments. “That’s not right,” the Doctor muttered as he kicked the T.A.R.D.I.S., “that’s not right at all!” “What’s wrong Doctor?” questioned Derpy “There’s something else in the Time Vortex,” the Doctor said, puzzled. “What do you mean something else is there,” Derpy asked, thoroughly confused about what he was talking about. The Doctor responded, “Well, you see the time vortex is what we travel in. It’s basically a combination of time and space energy. When we enter it we travel along a line of energy to a certain point. Sometimes minuscule amounts of other energies enter with us, but this energy is huge! It’s almost like a creature entered the vortex, but it wouldn’t survive without having the ability to control a certain energy.” “Sure…” Derpy said still confused, “Let’s just pretend I know what you’re talking about.” “It’s a hole from multiple points in time to another,” the Doctor said simply. “Well, I might as well contain the energy.” “Doctor, why would you do that?” Derpy asked “Because I believe it’s my job to keep the time vortex in good condition,” the Doctor explained. The Doctor started pushing buttons, which looked random to everyone else, even Time Lords. While the Doctor was pushing buttons and pulling levers, the chaotic energy was being pulled towards the T.A.R.D.I.S., until it started resisting. The energy was so strong that it started shaking the T.A.R.D.I.S., until it knocked Derpy into the control panel. “I’m sorry Doctor. I just don’t know what went wrong.” Derpy said sadly. “It’s ok Derpy, nothing is broken.” The Doctor said while checking his controls. “The energy did escape somehow. It looks like it went to another dimension, strange.” “How is that strange, don’t we do that all the time?” Derpy asked. “We travel through time, not dimensions and it’s not easy in the real world. It used to be easy, when the Time Lords kept their eye on everything. You could pop between realities, and be home in time for tea.” The Doctor shuddered and continued, “Then they died and took it all with them. The walls of reality closed, the worlds were sealed, and everything became a bit less kind.” “Oh, I didn’t know.” Derpy responded The Doctor whispered to himself, “I didn’t have a choice. They would have destroyed everything.” As he said this, a cloud begin to form in the T.A.R.D.I.S. and it started raining, but what came from it wasn’t water. “Why is it raining in here?” The doctor tasted the rain and said, “Wait! This is chocolate milk! How can a cloud rain chocolate milk? Is that cloud made of cotton candy?” “Oh wow! I’ve seen something like this about a year ago.” Derpy responded. “Really?” The Doctor said as he used his sonic screwdriver to make the cloud disappear. “Oh well. That’s that.” “So, Doctor.” Derpy asked, “Where are we going?” “Oh, right!” The Doctor said happily. “We’re going to the fall of Equestria!” “Wait! What?” Derpy yelled. “Allons-y!” The Doctor yelled as the T.A.R.D.I.S. disappeared from the time vortex, vanishing into a different time period. Hyrule Approximately 2 weeks before the stories beginning Discord stumbled to his feet after shooting from thin air and into a nearby sand dune. “Well, that was different” Discord said as he brushed himself off looking around into the darkened desert he was in. Suddenly there was the sound of a horse galloping towards him with a large plume of dust behind it. “Oh great” Discord said frowning “Celestia’s already found me and sent in the Calvary” Discord chuckled “Calvary, get it!?” he said (Far away in another dimension and world a poor writer face palmed at the bad pun he had just typed and wondering why he had) Then the horse appeared. “One?” Discord questioned “Celestia sent only ONE of her guards to capture me?!? Oh this is too funny!” Then a deep menacing voice boomed from the darkness. “Who are you who laugh in my desert? Are you a creature sent by the goddess’ to defy me and ruin my plans?” the voice questioned, dark and menacing. “Oh?” Discord said as he stood “Now what would you have planned that would cause a Goddess to stand against you? Also who are you because you don’t look like a lackey of Celestia, or Luna’s for that matter?” “I am Ganondorf, Lord of Darkness and King of the Gerudos, and I will soon rule this world!” the voice bellowed into the night “and this time, in this incarnation I shall be victorious and that foolish HERO shall not defeat me again!” “Well that sounds like fun,” Discord said a smile beginning to form “I too know how it feels to have domination snatched from your grasp, perhaps I can help you succeed since I seem to be trapped in this new world.” Now Discord was not really a bad person at heart all he truly wanted was a life of FUN but he had been hurt and mocked many times by Celestia, and now her student with her ‘friends’ so it is understandable that he would have some resentment. So he decided to help someone else and try his hand at some more serious evil, perhaps that strange glowing thing had been a sign, perhaps this was his destiny. Whatever the case Discord had committed himself, and Discord ALWAYS kept his promises and followed his commitments. 3 hours before the battle Ganondorf was ready, he was prepared. He had rapidly made preparations with the strange creature he had met that night two weeks ago, and in that time the creature had shown him new ways to use magic and his forces. In that time, Ganondorf had something he could call a… friend? Yes ‘friend’ summed up what Discord had become to him, and now all their preparations were in place. Today, he would be victorious! Discord had enchanted Ganondorf’s weapons, armor, and horse. They were ready. According to their spies, Link was riding hard to the castle and would arrive within the hour, then the dungeons and traps would weaken him and lower his supplies before the real fight would begin. Discord estimated that it would take Link close to two hours to arrive to where Ganondorf and his location. Then the real fun would begin. 15 minutes before the battle Link’s PoV Exit of the Dungeon Link lowered his shield to protect himself as the Bomb exploded destroying the remains of the final Stalfos in his way. Then the Boss Chest appeared in front of him. He walked forward and opened the chest retrieving the Boss Key within. He walked over to the final door and the lock fell to the floor with a loud thump leaving an imprint in the floor, behind the door lay a set of stairs. Link sighed ‘more stairs, GREAT!’ he thought sarcastically. His legs burned from adventuring through this dungeon. Navi had said they had been in here almost two hours now and Link was feeling it. ‘Hopefully I can catch Ganondorf taking a nap from boredom like I did last time, then I can end this quickly’ Link thought smiling slightly. “C’mon Link, let’s go! Hyrule won’t save itself now will it?” Navi said as chipper as ever. As Link arrived at the top he found Ganondorf very much awake. ‘Should have expected as much, it’s not like that lock came off quietly’ Link thought grimly. “Ah Link, so we meet again!” Ganondorf said grinning evilly. Link sighed and pulled out his prompt cards. “Yeah just like all the other times, dummy” read the card. “Oh…. Well THIS TIME I SHALL WIN!” Ganondorf said triumphantly. “Not if I stop you, again, like always...” read the next card. “Oh shut up.” Ganondorf grumbled. “I didn’t say a word -.-.” read the card. “How come these are already written out?” Ganondorf asked puzzled. “You say the same thing every time, same with Zelda and almost everyone else in this silly world….” Read the final card. “Oh yeah…. You know I never really noticed before” Ganondorf mumbled “Well anyways let’s get this fight started.” Link’s only response was to draw his sword and to bring out his shield. “Yeah” said Navi “that’s the spirit Link, as long as we’re together we can beat ANYTHING!” Then a bird swooped down from nowhere and put Navi in a jar, and it all went downhill from there.
