I am a normal person, I wake up, go to work, work, go home, watch tv then go to bed and repeat. Whenever I get the chance I watch "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" and my favorite pony in the entire show even though she's just a background character is Vinyl Scratch. I always wanted a real life Vinyl Scratch but i knew that would never happen!
I loved Vinyl so much that i even read all the fan fictions, looked at and drew tons fan art and even listened to some fan music if you want to call it that. One day i decided to take a walk, just a walk around the city in depression.
I was on about the third lap around the city when i saw something that was very out of the ordinary. It was a box that said "give to good, caring, loving home." and for some reason even though in my opinion my home wasn't very good i decided to see what was in the almost but not quite shoe box. When i looked in there was nothing there! I was very surprised I was expecting something like a dog or cat, even a pony like the fan fiction "My Little Dashie" but there was just nothing there! Being a very depressed man i decided to go home, and right as i started to walk away I saw a Bright light coming from what seemed to be the box. As soon as the bright light subsided i looked back and sure enough there was something that seemed to look like a pony! I walked closer and I almost fainted right then and there because there was a filly Vinyl Scratch in the box. I was debating weather i should take that small filly home or give it to a shelter but as i thought to myself the filly woke up and looked at the box it was in and was just fine but as she looked up the filly Vinyl Scratch started to panic, she wasn't in her normal home, equestria but instead an unfamiliar world with nothing that even looked like it's self. I walked over to her quietly and slowly, softly saying that it was okay and that nothing was going to hurt her. after awhile of panicking and running around the box she got tired and decided to just let me pick her up and take her home. I would've done what the guy in "My Little Dashie" did but it wasn't cold, in fact it was quite hot, so i just slowly picked her up and brought her to my house and set her down on my coffee table. I went to go get some food for the filly and something to make a bed for her out of.
When i got back the filly Vinyl Scratch was gone. I looked all over and finally found her sitting on a cold air vent trying to find a comfortable spot on it but wasn't very successful. I picked her up and brought her to the makeshift bed i made for her right next to my recliner where i normally sleep anyway. After i shut the lights off and fed her some broken up carrots and mashed apples I said "Good night!" lied down and went to sleep, but before i could even shut my eyes for a minute, i could feel the filly walking over to me and sleeping right on my chest and I finally felt joy in life for the first time since all my family died!
As I woke up I remember a weird day yesterday, I found a filly Vinyl Scratch just like "My Little Dashie" except well... it was a filly Vinyl Scratch instead of a filly Rainbow Dash. but then i felt something walking on my chest, i opened my eyes and i almost died. I really did find a filly Vinyl Scratch! The filly jumped down from the recliner and onto the floor. I decided i'd better feed it something because it looked hungry, even though i fed it last night, but that must not have been enough. As i looked closer at her the more i realized that my heart would be broken one day, just like in "My Little Dashie" except it might be different because Vinyl isn't exactly all that loyal, or at least from what i hear. but enough about the future i have to focus on the present right now.
After a week of calling in sick i'm going to have to actually go to work today, I just hope that Vinyl will be okay and won't hurt herself.
Luckily she didn't hurt herself, she got into some pretty big messes but mostly she was just sitting there attempting to reach the button on the TV to turn it on and I had to make a special way for her to press something easier for her to reach to turn the TV on.
One day I found her with my broken turntable and some old records trying to get the stupid thing to work. I just laughed and went over to her and said "Vinyl, did you know that I love you very much?!" and to my surprise she said "Yah, I wuv you too da-da!"
After I got some money and a new, better paying job I found us a nice home out in the country where no one will bother us but still close enough to some small towns that we could get what we needed and I fixed my broken turntable which to my surprise when Vinyl used it she didn't need anything else except the turntable.
It's been 2 years since I brought Vinyl home and she couldn't be happier! We decided to throw a party for the two of us and when I told her that she just went crazy she loved the idea! "Dad, can I have an X-box-360 so i can play with people other then us? No offence but it's getting boring just playing with you!" I said it was fine but she'd have to help me with chores to earn money to help me pay for it even though it's coming out of my pocket I thought that having her be part of an important decision and making her feel like she was a part of something was one of the best things I could do to make her feel more appreciated.
It's five days until the anniversary of the day I found her and she is so ecstatic that it's almost what I told her was her birthday. She just can't wait until she gets her X-box-360 and can play with all kinds of people from all over the world with just the press of a button!
"Vinyl? Yah wanna try your hand at DJing again?" I asked and got a very excited "YEAH I DO!" "Okay then I'll just have to find some online lessons for you then!" again, with a very excited "YAY!" and so I did exactly that I found some online lessons on how to properly work all the gear and things like that then recorded all the videos on a CD so we could watch them on the TV.
That year I got her three presents for her birthday, A 360, DJing lessons and most important of all, love! I love her so much I don't know where my life would go if I would have to lose her and if I do Will she come back? Those are overpowering questions right now in life.
It's now been 7 years since the day she came into my home and she is now somewhere around 11 years old. It's getting hard to keep up with how fast time goes, I mean sometimes I still treat her like a filly and not the mare she now is. But even though it's hard to take care of her I still will no matter what, just like no matter what I will always lover and be proud of her for all the good things. I've learned as my time as a parent if you want to call it that has taught me to not even care about the bad things but instead focus on all that is good about her.
After a long time she has saved up to go to a concert of one of her favorite composers, Deadmau5. She loves to listen to his music so much that even I have come to like him! We are going to go see him in about a week! I'm so happy for her because she's learning to save her money, respect, and most importantly more about herself!
After the show she was so excited to see Deadmau5 himself even though she had to sit alone in a special balcony of the stadium so she wouldn't be seen.
"Daddy? I have a question, why can't I be seen by other people? is it because of who I am, what?" This question took a lot of thinking because I wasn't sure of how I could tell her without just destroying her emotionly. "Well Vinyl. Have you ever seen the show My Little Pony: friendship is Magic? and she replied "No! that show is for little girls, I'm a mare now i'm not a filly anymore dad!" "I know that but the truth is" *deep breath* "You came from that show, you're only a background character that showed up once, but you have a ton of fans!" I said hoping not to force my daughter to tears. "Oh... SO I'M JUST A BACKGROUND CHARACTER IN A SHOW FOR LITTLE GIRLS!? *starts to cry* "But if i'm a character from a show, then how did I end up in this world with you?" She asked while having to stop from crying so much every once in awhile. "I don't know, but it was a miracle for me. Vinyl? you know how happy I am now always cheerful and optimistic? Well i wasn't always that way you see I used to be a very depressed man, but that fateful night when you appeared my life was changed forever for the better! And I could never give you up never you're my daughter and I love you very much, no matter what I will love you, even if you hate me I will still love you! *starts to cry very hard and loud* "Daddy, It's okay!" *proceeds to hug her father* "I still love you...."
