> Spellbound apples > by Hurricane Relic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Now how about we celebrate our stronger than ever friendship with a nice ripe juice apple!" "Stand back! I vant to suck its juice," Pinkie exclaims as she sinks her fangs into the apple. Much to her dismay the plastic fangs get stuck and she gets no apple juice. She looks up and smiles while everypony else starts giggling. Even Fluttershy could help but start laughing, despite discovering that she now had fangs in her mouth. She was sure that Twilight managed to undo the spell on her, so she probably didn't need to concern the others with the sudden growth of sharp teeth—probably. After Spike finished writing down the adventure in the apple orchard and everypony had their fair share of laughs with Pinkie's shenanigans, the others decided they should get back. Rarity had an order to fill, Applejack wanted to get back to bucking those apple trees, Twilight had wanted to read up on vampire fruit bats. Fluttershy had stopped paying attention and didn't even know what Rainbow Dash or Pinkie were up to, she was still concerned with the sudden growth of fangs. After everypony leaves, she looks back at the apple that Applejack had offered her earlier. It still had the plastic vampire teeth poking out of it. Fluttershy picks up the apple and gingerly pulls the teeth out of the apple, reminding her self to return those to Pinkie the next time they meet. Fluttershy sinks her teeth into the apple, instantly feeling better, happier, elated even. Where did that come from she wondered, she has never felt like that before about just eating an apple. Looking down she noticed that she had already sucked out all of the juices, leaving just the squishy outside skin and the seeds. Licking her lips, she noticed that the fangs seemed to be gone. Oh good, all I need to do is to eat an apple to get rid of the craving, she thought. This shouldn't be that hard to deal with! --- A few hours later, Fluttershy found herself groaning at a bunny with his arms crossed, and a scowl, glaring at Fluttershy. "Just one more apple! Could you just get me one more?" Fluttershy pleaded. Angel waved his hands around and stamped his feet, pointing all around her. Fluttershy blinked and looked around, noticing all the apples that have been sucked dry. When did all these get here she pondered. Angel glared at her some more, impatiently stomping his foot. "Oh, I did that? Oh dear…I think I need some help." Fluttershy glanced at the door. Her friends won't think she's a monster right? They are her friends, and they should accept her whether she has fangs and batwings or not! Wait, bat wings? A quick glance down and she jumped out of fright; she wanted to hide from herself. "Oh my, I need to go find Twilight now, " she whispered to herself. Fluttershy grabbed the nearest cloak she could find and threw it over herself. No need to draw attention to the bat wings. She just had to be careful and hopefully make it to Twilight's in time before her eyes started changing color too. She took off down the dusty road, she hoped that no one would be out at this late hour. The night air looked inviting and Fluttershy had no difficulty seeing into the darkness in front of her. As she traveled towards the village she passed by Sweet Apple Acres. Oh do those apples look juicy, but she can't take any, those are Applejack's apples. Fluttershy was sure that Applejack would understand if she just took a few from the trees. Just a few, she told herself. The pegasus took off towards the orchard and carefully plucked a few apples from the first tree she came across. Without even hesitating, she sank her fangs into apple and sucked it dry. She was on her fifth apple by the time she noticed hoof steps approaching her. She was just about to bite into the next apple when a voice interrupted her. "Fluttershy? What are you doing here? And why are you eating my apples?" A familiar country accent inquired. Fluttershy noticed what she was doing, and realized her mistake. She suddenly felt very ashamed and wanted to hid. Her mane will have to do for now. "I-I was umm…j-just on my way to see T-Twilight," whispered Fluttershy barely audibly. The apple remained in her hoof, forgotten by the meek pegasus, but Applejack on the other hand seemed to be staring at it. Her mouth opened ever so slightly. Fluttershy expected to be scolded by Applejack, after all she was stealing a food supply for Ponyville. Applejack quickly shook her head, "What in tarnation? Why do these apples look juicier than normal?" "Perhaps Twilight will know why? That is…if you don't mind coming with me?" Applejack shook her head again, as if suddenly remembering that Fluttershy was there. Carefully looking over Fluttershy, she noticed that she seemed to be a bit more disheveled than usual, her mane seemed a bit frazzled and her eyes were... red? "Uh, you turned back into a vampire bat? I thought Twilight's spell turned you back to normal." "I don't know what happened, I guess the spell didn't work?" Fluttershy replied weakly. Applejack agreed that they should go see Twilight and together they headed towards Ponyville. They soon found themselves outside of the giant tree that was Twilight's Library. Already from inside they could someone running about, tiny claws scratching along the floor. Applejack knocked on the door, and they were surprised to see it open so quickly. They were greeted by Spike who let them in. The first thing both of them noticed were the books that were strewn all around the floor. It looked like Twilight was deep into some research. The second thing they noticed was a empty apple sack, and a garbage can overflowing with apple cores. "Umm Twilight, is this a good time? Maybe we can come back later if you want?" Twilight spun around and noticed the newcomers to the library. Her eyes widened slightly seeing Fluttershy covered in the cloak, but her Red eyes and strange ears told her all she needed know. "Aha! I had hypothesized that Fluttershy would turn back into a bat pony. I came back here after the incident to read up on vampire fruit bats because of the strange spell interaction they had caused. I had Spike find every book we had on vampire fruit bats and—" "Twilight, what did you find? Why is Fluttershy a bat again, and why are you eating so many apples? Why do I want to eat so many apples too?" Applejack asked. "The bats seemed to deflect a bit of any spell that they are hit with, and it seemed that they portion of the bats also go transferred onto Fluttershy, so when I transformed her back, we were all also hit with the vampire fruit bat desires. The spell also didn't seem to full take hold on Fluttershy. Hmm, think of all the applications of being able to easily transfer various spell effects to large groups of people without spending all the energy to cast them on each person individually, this could be a breakthrough in ma—" "TWILIGHT! Can you fix this?" Applejack inquired. "Oh yes! But we are going to have to find everypony else first. The spell is going to take some time, and it seems that apples will trigger the desires so while the spell is still fixing this, we can't expose ourselves to the trigger." "Umm… so how long can't we look at apples?" stammered Fluttershy. Her mouth already drooling a bit at the thought of apples. "Only for about 12 hours, just to be safe, we should just stay here. Hmm, this is a perfect opportunity for a slumber party! I just need to get my checklist ready!" "Well, lets find the others first so they don't run around eating all the towns apples first." Applejack frowned and thought to herself, the first few days of applebuck season and she can't even buck any apples. Fluttershy was just glad that this whole ordeal would be over soon. She started worrying about all her pets in her home. Would they be alright while she slept over at Twilight's? She spotted one more juicy, ripe, and delicious apple sitting on Twilight's desk. One more shouldn't hurt, right? The spell hasn't been cast yet, and 12 hours is an awful long time to go without apples.
