"That's a good book, trust me, I should know." Twilight was levitating a book towards a pegasus with a grin on his face. "The author is really good at what he writes. Even though I don't see any of it actually happening." "Which makes it even better to see someone's creative mind instead of going by the laws of physics and reality. Sometimes, it's better to make-up things instead of saying things that already exist." The pegasus said. "True. But haven't you ever tried to understand how it's possible for a rat to become the size of a full-grown stallion and have wings like a bat?" Twilight asked raising a brow towards the pegasus. "Princess, if you want to enjoy things, you can't always try to understand them. Sometimes, just go with it." The pegasus pulled out a bag of bits from the saddlebag that was strapped around his back. "To answer your question, princess; yes, I have." "Please, Film Maker, for the hundredth time. You don't have to call me princess." A reassuring smile spread on her face within seconds. "Sorry. It's kinda hard not to when you see an alicorn. Even though I've known you for awhile, your alicorn form is the symbol of royalty." "I know that. But I don't need anypony calling me a princess just because I'm an alicorn. Nor am I comfortable being one yet. I don't even like it when my friends call me princess." "Yeah. I guess this new 'change' has been putting some pressure on you, hasn't it?" Film Maker asked. "You have no idea," Twilight rolled her eyes. "I think my brain is going to crack from all these new rules I have to follow." She rolled her eyes again. "I'd imagine. Royalty can be a real pain the flank." Twilight sighed. "You have no idea." "I mean think of the positions the other three princesses are in." "What do you mean?" "Well. Princess Luna has to deal with complaints from other ponies in Canterlot. Princess Celestia has a lot of places to be in little time and Equestria isn't a small country. And finally, princess Cadence, she has a whole empire to watch over. But at least you don't have to do much like raising the sun or moon." "Thank Celestia for that. You do have a point though. But I think I'll eventually have to rule my own empire like princess Cadence." "And I'll definitely move into that empire if it's ruled by such an intelligent leader." Film Maker smiled. "Aw you're too sweet. But you do leave me with one question." "What's that?" "How does a pony your age know so much?" "Well I do take interest on what happens outside of my social life. Night Striker knows some but he only pays attention to the military parts instead of the whole thing. I gotta be an inspiration for some of my friends to do good. Even though they don't." "What do you mean by that?" Film Maker's smile slowly faded into a worried look. He slowly looked down at the wooden floor of the library. "I'm losing it with them. They're really falling apart. Shadowblaze is on the verge but I'm not letting him go down that road. Saint Wubs is perfectly fine since he got a job at the local DJ Night Club. Night Striker is perfectly fine because he's Night Striker. He'll always be stuck to studies and having good grades. He's too focused on his career. Shady was caught vandalizing. Baggy is doing drugs and is also vandalizing. I see Saint Wubs in confusion but he may not realize it yet. I'm pretty sure that Night Striker will crack one day. Shadowblaze is monitoring me a lot." "Why is he?" "He started monitoring me because I've attempted and failed at suicide. I've been talking about suicide. I've been thinking about suicide. My drinking has finally became so little that I don't even think about having a drink. My crying hasn't ceased. I still do it because I'm afraid, Twilight." "What are you afraid of?" "The unexpected. I don't know what to expect anymore. I thought I knew, but apparently I don't. But thank Celestia for having great friends for me to turn to." Film Maker looked up at Twilight and smiled. "You've always got something to look up to, Don't you?" Twilight smiled. "Yes I do." Film Maker looked down at the bag of bits that were sitting on the counter and looked back up at Twilight. "How many bits for the book?" "That'll be ten bits." "But aren't books usually fifteen?" "There's a sudden sale for this book and it's a limited time offer." Twilight winked at Film Maker. "But that's fifty percent off. You really don't have to just because I-" "I don't know what you're talking about." Film Maker looked at the book on the counter and back at Twilight. "Thank you very much." "Your welcome. Have a nice day, Film Maker." Film pulled out ten bits and laid them on the counter. "You too." He quickly put the book and bag of bits in his saddle bag. "Have a wonderful day!" He cheered and dashed for the door. Twilight waved goodbye to Film Maker as he dashed to the door. Twilight felt proud of herself, she really made his day. Oh my gosh this really made my day! Film Maker cheered in his head. Now to get home and get started on this awesome book. Film Maker came up to the sign next to the library that said: One Week Book Sale. Film came to the library a lot. He could always take his mind off of everything that was happening around him. The library was his sanctuary. He wasn't like Twilight where he'd hit the big study books, no, he liked the kind of books that were creative. Just like he enjoyed creating things of his own. Film Maker turned his attention to the road that he needed to cross to make his long travel back home. But before he could do so. He spotted a stallion trotting up towards him. He stood his ground, wondering if the stallion was going to talk to him or simply say 'hello' and walk by. An old pony's tail said "curiosity killed the cat." But he didn't really believe in those things. He only believed what he thought was right. That's all he ever did. Film Maker always grew up doing what his heart told him to do. Someponies didn't like it but others loved it. Film spent a long time worrying about others opinions when all he had to do is focus on who he was. He slowly began to like it over time and eventually he accepted it. The stallion walked up to him. This stallion was an Earth pony. His coat was light grey. His mane and tail was light yellow. From the look of his appearance, he kept himself fit. "Hi." The stallion almost whispered. "H-Hello." Film stuttered. Buck! You stuttered. Come on Film, you can do it. Whatever you do, don't check out his flanks. Too late. Film's eyes slowly followed down to the Earth pony's flanks. His cutiemark represented a red apple. "W-What's your name?" The stallion asked in a whisper. He lowered his head down a bit. A small shade of crimson appeared on his cheeks. Buck! Pay attention! Film quickly looked back at the stallion's eyes. "I'm sorry could you say that again? I couldn't hear ya that well." The stallion cleared his throat and lifted his head to make eye contact with Film Maker. "What's your name?" "My name's Film Maker." Film looked down at his cutiemark. "By the look of your cutiemark, you must do something with apples correct?" Film looked up at the stallion. The stallion looked down at his cutiemark. "Yeah I actually am currently staying at Sweet Apple Acre's. I just moved to Ponyville a couple days ago. I'm one of Applejack's cousins." He looked back at Film Maker. Film noticed that he had sky blue eyes. "Oh I know Applejack. I volunteer at Sweet Apple Acre's every Sunday." The stallion looked down at Film Maker's flanks. The blush grew bigger on both of his cheeks. "Y-Your cutiemark, what does it m-mean?" The stallion stuttered. Film looked down at his cutiemark and back at the stallion. "Oh. I film things. Mainly short movies so far but eventually I'll make something long. It's not really a big deal or anything." The stallion looked back at Film Maker's eyes. "It's a very rare cutiemark in Equestria! Especially for pegasi. Oops." He bit his lips and looked away from Film Maker's eyes. "That came out wrong." "No, no, no, no. It didn't, I promise. I take nothing to it." The stallion released his lips and made eye contact again. He slowly raised a brow. "Not even a tiny bit offended?" "Nope." "Really?" Film Maker placed a hoof on the stallion's shoulder. "Really really." "Wow you're really.....really...nice." The stallion smiled and the blush grew bigger. Film Maker took his hoof off of the stallion's shoulder and smiled. "Really?" The stallion chuckled. "Really really." "Thank you." "You don't have to thank me." "But its such a nice compliment from somepony I don't even know that well. It means a lot to me." A small shade of crimson appeared on Film Maker's cheeks. "Um.....do you go to the high school here?" Changing topics? Oh Celestia please don't turn out to be my Ex. He's really cute. Film whined in his head. "Yeah I do. Freshman?" "Yes, actually. I'll be starting next Monday." "Maybe we'll have some classes together." "Maybe." The stallion lifted a hoof up to his eyes. On his foreleg was a wristwatch. It was a digital watch like everypony else had nowadays. "I gotta get going." Film lifted his hoof to look at his digital wristwatch. Three forty-five p.m.. Film had to get home soon or else his mother would either worry or get frustrated at him. "I do too." "I hope to see you soon." "You'll actually see me tomorrow. It's going to be Sunday tomorrow." "Even better." The stallion turned to leave until Film stopped him by placing a hoof on his shoulder. "Wait. I didn't get your name." The stallion turned his head. "My name's Apple Kicker." "Apple Kicker....what a lovely name." "Thanks. I'll see you around." "Can I ask you one more question?" "Okay? What is it?" "How come you don't have a southern accent like the other Apple family members?" "Because I grew up majority of my life in Fillydelphia." "Oh. That's all I wanted to know. Goodbye Apple Kicker." "You can call me Kicker for short." Apple Kicker winked. He winked at me? What does that mean? "O-Okay. See you 'round Kicker." > Chapter 2: Hello, Again > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2:Hello, Again Sunday, Sweet Apple Acres. Film Maker was flying in the sky with a saddlebag strapped around his back. The wind blowing through his mane. The warmth of the sun shining on his coat. The sun was barely up but it was warm enough for Film Maker to feel it. He was just arriving Sweet Apple Acres. To do his chores that he volunteered for. He saw Applejack in front of the Apple family's house. So he decided to stop by her first. She usually told him where to go whenever he arrived. He slowly flew down to get his orders from Applejack. With a soft thud, Film Maker landed himself in front of Applejack. "Good morning, Applejack." "Howdy to you too, Film Maker. I'd like you to meet a cousin of mine who moved from-" "Fillydelphia?" Film interrupted. Applejack raised her brow. "How did you-" "And his name is Apple Kicker?" He interrupted again. Applejack was at loss with words. "How did you-" "I already met him yesterday at the library. Really nice pony." Film Maker smiled. Applejack lowered her brow and smiled. "Well then, I'm glad you already met him. You ready to see him again?" Applejack asked. "You bet." Film Maker started to walk past Applejack until she put a hoof out in front of him to stop him. "Something wrong?" He asked. His smile slowly fading. "I need you to do me a favor, Film Maker." Applejack looked at Film Maker with a serious tone in her voice. Film Maker took notice of her tone of voice. "What is it?" "Don't be going off about his reasons for coming down to Ponyville. He's very insecure about even mentioning it around others. Got it?" Applejack frowned. "Understood," Film Maker nodded. "Good and....thank you." Applejack smiled. "Now get going, Big Macintosh needs you to help him and Apple Kicker in bucking some of the trees on the North section of the Orchard." "Got it." Film Maker started to fly off towards the North section of the Apple Orchard. He wasn't the fastest flyer but he was able to get to his destination in thirty seconds. He landed a few feet away from Big Macintosh and Apple Kicker. Both Earth ponies noticed his arrival and decided to stop their work so they could greet him. "Good morning, Big Macintosh." Film Maker looked at Apple Kicker and smiled. "Good morning, Apple Kicker." "G-Good morning." Apple Kicker half whispered. "Mornin' Film Maker. Ready to get started?" Big Macintosh asked. "Eeyup." Film Maker replied. "Good. Me and mah cousin here Apple Kicker are just getting started on bucking these trees and we could use your help." Big Macintosh smiled. "Up for the task?" "Of course I am." Film Maker trotted up to a tree that had buckets lying around the tree. "I don't even have to buck the trees, remember?" Film Maker flew into the trees and started to shake all the apples off of the branches. Each apple went into it's appropriate bucket with a small thud. In thirty seconds, he filled every bucket lying around the tree. He poked his head out of the tree and chuckled. "I think I'm up for it." "Eeyup." Big Macintosh said. He looked at Apple Kicker with a smile. "Better get ta work cousin." Apple Kicker nodded and trotted up to a different tree to buck it. Big Macintosh looked back at Film Maker. "Did Applejack tell you?" Film Maker nodded. "Eeyup. But I have one question: why did he move?" "It's not for me to tell. You'll just have to wait to find out." "Okay." Film Maker looked at Apple Kicker and smiled. "I'm gonna go talk to him." "Okay. But he's very shy. So don't be surprised if he doesn't talk much." "I know. He was shy yesterday so maybe today will be different." Film Maker sped out of the tree and right next to Apple Kicker. Kicker winced but quickly stood his ground again. "Morning, Apple Kicker." Apple Kicker frowned. "I thought I told you 'just call me Kicker' yesterday?" "Oops." Film Maker chuckled. "Sorry." Film Maker apologized. "It's okay." Apple Kicker bucked the tree behind him. "So?" Film Maker jumped in the tree and started to shake some branches. Apples fell out of the tree and into their proper buckets. "So what?" Kicker asked while bucking the tree again. "How about I get to know you better?" Film Maker suggested. "Sure." He bucked the tree and more apples fell to their buckets. "What would you like to know?" "Where to start?" Film Maker stopped shaking the tree to put his hoof against his chin. "I know. What do you like to do on your free time?" "That's a start." Kicker bucked the tree again. "I like to read horror novels when I put my mind to it." "Me too." Film Maker moved in closer to Apple Kicker. Making sure to pay attention every word he said. "Anything else?" Apples dropped into their buckets. "Well, I do like to play the guitar." "Really?" Film Maker asked with a hint of joy in his voice. Kicker bucked the tree again. "Yeah. I brought an acoustic guitar with me when I moved here to Ponyville. It's like second nature to me." More apples started to fall into their rightful buckets. "So awesome." Apple Kicker stopped his bucking to look up at Film Maker. "You play the guitar?" "Heck yeah." "Cool." Kicker looked up at the tree he was bucking and noticed that all the apples had fallen off. "Onto the next." Apple Kicker moved onto the next tree and Film Maker jumped out of the tree followed him in tow. "So do you know any of the classes you'll be attending to at the school?" "I didn't get my schedule yet. But I will tomorrow morning when I head down to the office of the school." Kicker started to buck the tree and apples started to drop into their buckets. Film Maker noticed at how quickly the apples were dropping out of the trees compared to Applejack. "You're very strong." Kicker bucked again. "I'm no Big Macintosh but thank you for the kind words." "Aw. You don't have to be modest." Film Maker waved his hoof. Kicker bucked into the tree again. Apples fell from the tree and into the bucket. "How about you tell me about yourself? Since I already told you a little about me." "Okay. Ask me a question and I will." "How's the school I'm gonna attend?" Film Maker bit his lip. "It's a good school. You know? It's like any other school." Film Maker lied. Apple Kicker looked at Film Maker with a frown. "You're lying." He pointed out. "No. Why would I lie?" Apple Kicker looked closely at Film Maker with determination in his eyes. "I can tell when somepony lies and you're definitely lying to me." Film Maker felt defeated. "How can you tell?" "It's just something that I learned. Now how about you tell me how the school is from your opinion.?" Film Maker shrugged. "I like the school program but I hate the other students. They're all a bunch of assholes. They always try to pick fights with each other and they try to pick on those who are different. It's best to be quiet and keep your head down. Do not tell a random pony in the school of who you really are. Nopony can know." He said with his voice tone so low that only him and Kicker could hear it. "So you're being bullied?" Film Maker nodded. Kicker bucked the tree behind him very hard. Almost all of the apples fell out and there was a mark on the tree. "What do they do?" Film Maker was kind of frightened at the sudden outbreak Kicker had. "Just your simple name calling and random beatings." "Beatings for what?" Kicker asked with anger in his voice. "It's nothing." Film Maker jumped into the tree and started to continue his chores. "Nothing important." He started to shake a tree branch and continue his duty. "How about we change the topic?" He suggested. "Sure. That sounds nice." Kicker smiled. "What kind of music do you like to listen to?" "Rock and metal. None of that pop that everyone is into." Film Maker smiled. "I bet you like country." "I do but not as much as rock and metal." "Really?" Film asked in disbelief. "Eeyup. I know I was born into country but It's just my preference." Kicker bucked the tree. Film fell out of the tree and landed next to Kicker. Kicker and Film laughed out loud. "Sorry about that." Kicker put his hoof out to. Film took the hoof and pulled himself back to his hooves. "It's okay. I didn't prepare myself that time so it was my fault. No sweat." He quickly dusted himself off and jumped back into the tree. "So...who are you into?" "Ponyville Undead." "No bucking way." "Eeyup. They're my favorite." Kicker bucked the tree again. Apples fell into their buckets. Oh I hope you're a coltcuddler. Film Maker thought. I wonder if we can tiphoof onto that subject. Come on Kicker, gimme a hint. "So....have you ever been with a mare before." Kicker stopped bucking the tree to look up at Film. "Why do you ask?" "Just curious. You know? Just wanting to know you better." "To answer your question; no." "Have you ever wanted to be with one?" Kicker sighed. "no." He mumbled. "I'm sorry. I didn't hear you." Film Maker moved closer to Kicker. "Say it again." "I said.....no." Kicker mumbled. "One more time." Film Maker leaned his ear up against Kicker's mouth. "I said no!" Kicker yelled into Film's ear. Film Maker quickly jumped back and started to rub his ear. "Ow." He silently whimpered. Kicker lowered his head. "Sorry, Film." He turned his head away from Film. "I didn't mean to yell." "Hey." Film moved a bit closer Kicker. "It's okay." He placed his hoof on Kicker's shoulder. "It was an accident." Kicker looked up into Film Maker's eyes. Both staring into each other's eyes. A small shade of crimson appeared on Kicker's face. Film Maker's heart started to beat very rapidly. A tingly feeling started to form in his stomach. Film looked at the tree and back at Kicker. "We should get back to our chores." Film took his hoof off of Kicker's shoulder. "Y-Yeah. We should." After a nice and long day of hard work, the Apple family decided to celebrate their hard work with a nice dinner. Film Maker was always invited to come and eat dinner on the days he volunteered for and he'd always accept them with many thank yous. The Apples had a nice variety of food laid out on the table: mashed potatoes, brown gravy, celery, daffodil sandwiches, apples, and apple fritters. Everypony was sitting around the family table complimenting each other for their hard work in the field. "You did a good job out there today, Kicker. I think you'll make a great addition to the Apple family." Applejack complimented. "Thank you, AJ and thank you Big Mac for showing me on what to do." Kicker said. "It was my pleasure, Kicker." Big Mac acknowledged. Applejack looked at Film Maker. "So Film. When do you think yer gonna be available this week?" Applejack asked. "I actually can be available for the whole weekend. All I need to do is get the okay from my mom. But I don't think she'll care." Film Maker replied. "That'll be perfect. But won't you be exhausted from flying here and back at your house?" "Probably. But that's okay." "Well, we might as well just let ya sleep here the whole weekend. You could help out with house chores as well." Film Maker put a hoof up to his chin and thought about it for a moment. "Sure." He said. "Sounds better than me flying back and forth." *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* "I'll get it." Big Macintosh said. He got up from the dinner table and to the front door. He opened up the door to see Rainbow Dash standing outside with a saddlebag filled with fliers. "Hey Big Mac." Rainbow Dash said. "Hello, Rainbow Dash. How can I help you?" Big Macintosh asked. "I need you to take a flier." Rainbow Dash grabbed a flier with her mouth and handed it to Big Macintosh. "My weather patrol team is calling in a last minute rainstorm. Everypony has to stay inside for this one. This one is too dangerous for anypony to be out in." "Did I hear a rainstorm!" Film yelled. "Oh. He's still here isn't he?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Eeyup." Big Macintosh replied. "I'll let his mom know. Just keep him inside for the night." "Thank you Rainbow Dash." "No problem. I gotta go. I'll see you later." Rainbow Dash zoomed off onto the next house to alert about the storm. Film Maker was hurrying to the door until Big Macintosh put his hoof out to stop him. "You can't go outside tonight, Film Maker. It'll be too dangerous. I'm sorry, Film Maker, but you have to sleep here tonight." Film Maker sighed. "Did you at least tell her to let my mom know?" He asked. Big Macintosh nodded his head. Film Maker sighed in relief. "Oh, thank you, Big Mac." "No problem Film." Big Macintosh closed the door and walked back to the dinner table. "There is one problem, though." Applejack looked at Big Macintosh. "What's that?" She asked. "We don't have a guest bedroom anymore." Big Mac replied. "We don't?" Granny Smith asked. "We gave it to Apple Kicker, remember?" "Oh yeah." Applejack and Granny Smith said in unison. "He can sleep with me. I mean if it's okay with you, Film Maker." Kicker said. "S-Sure. Thanks Kicker." Film said. "I do have one question, though." Apple Kicker said. "Won't they cancel school for tomorrow if there's a rainstorm?" "Yeah they will." Film Maker said. "I have a question: where am I sleeping?" Apple Kicker looked around the room. It was a crowded room with boxes of Apple Kicker's accessories. There was a queen size bed and a small desk sitting next to the bed. A night lamp stood on the desk with a picture frame of Apple Kicker holding an acoustic guitar. The pounding of rain could be heard from the window. "Um....you can sleep in the bed with me." A small blush appeared on Film's cheeks. "O-Okay. If you want or I can j-just sleep on the floor with a p-pillow and blanket." "Why would you sleep down there when there's a bed right here?" Kicker asked. "I...I don't know." "Come on. It'll be fine." Film looked at Apple Kicker and noticed that there was a blush on his cheeks. Kicker walked up to the bed and sat down on it. Film Maker walked around the bed to sit down on his side. There was an awkward silence in the room for a few moments. The only sound that could be heard from in the room was the rain beating against the window. Neither stallions knew what to say or do for a couple moments. Both of their blushes slowly dying down. Kicker decided to break the silence. "I think we're supposed to lay down right about now. Film Maker chuckled. "Yeah, we should." Film Maker laid down under the sheets and gotten himself in a comfy position. Kicker turned off the night light and laid down under the covers. Film Maker closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep as fast as he could so he didn't feel so awkward like he was. "Goodnight, Film Maker." Kicker yawned. Film Maker yawned, "Goodnight, Kicker." "Um...can I ask you something?" "Sure." "Can I...um....move a bit...closer to you?" A blush appeared on Film Maker's cheeks. "Y-Yeah. Sure, if you want t-to." Film Maker felt Kicker move closer to his chest. His heart started to speed up and his blush grew bigger. "I hear that pegasi are the best heat source to be around. It seems that they were right, you're very warm." "I-I think that's only b-because of my wings. They're a-always tucked by my sides s-so they always keep my chest w-warm." Film stuttered. "You're very nervous. Why's that?" Kicker asked. "No r-reason." "Try taking deep breaths. It always helps me." Film Maker took in several deep breaths to calm down his nerves and it worked. His heart started to slow down to regular beats and his blush started to slowly fade. "Thanks." "You were very nervous. Is it because of my question?" "No it's.....it's because I'm....into stallions." Film Maker half whispered. "And you're the very first stallion I've ever been in a....bed with." Apple Kicker started to move himself away from Film Maker. "Oh. If you want me to move, I'll m-" "No. It's okay." Film Maker quickly pulled Kicker in with his wings. "I like it. A lot." Kicker chuckled. "Okay." He slowly wrapped his hooves around Film's chest. Kicker slowly closed his eyes. "Goodnight Film." "Goodnight Kicker." Both stallions yawned one last time and allowed sleep to consume both of their minds.
