The time before time has passed. The Matoran and their Toa protectors have been dispersed, and now, the ponies rule. Yet, remnants of the ancient civilization remains, remnants which the ponies face.

Gathered friends, listen to the legend of the Bionicle.

In the time before time, the world was a different place. Where biomechanical beings lived, and where three virtues of Unity, Duty, and Destiny brought a civilization together. It was a place beyond imagination and legend as the noble Toa protected their people with the elemental powers.

Now, that era is over. It is the time of ponies and magic as harmony spreads across the land of Equestria. The princesses celebrate a new addition to their ranks and seek to heal their land from the terror of Tirek.

But the past often catches up with the present. The light spring from the cracks and the shadows follow as remnants often come across the paths of these peaceful creatures. Peaceful creatures who face the legends that once roamed their world…

Planting the Seeds of the Future

View Online

Many thousands of years ago…

Night had fallen over the Everfree Forest as the moon shone brightly on the tree tops. The constant chatter of critters echoed across the forest that spread out for miles and miles, with no buildings in sight. The lush vegetation covered almost every inch, save for a lone and dark cave.

Inside the cave, were two figures; one of them was a bipedal figure in a robe, patiently waiting near the cave’s wall. He stared at his compatriot, an alicorn whose lavender coat made her stand out in the shadows. The alicorn in question kept her gaze on the ground as she shuffled a pile of dirt around with her hoof.

“Is everything ready?” the figure broke the silence, his ancient voice nothing more than a whisper.

After patting the ground with her hoof, the alicorn nodded. “The seed has been planted. I just need to add the final adjustment.”

Lowering her head, the alicorn’s horn shone brightly. Purple energy lanced from her horn and struck the ground. Then, the alicorn trotted back from the pile of dirt, and waited alongside the robed figure. The small pile of dirt rumbled ever so slightly, as small roots sprung out before burrowing deep into the ground. Finally, a green stem emerged with a small leaf sticking out.

The alicorn sighed with relief. “It’s finally done. It will only be a matter of time before the tree grows.” She turned to her compatriot. “I can’t thank you enough for your help.”

The figure smiled, or she thought so. It was too dark to tell. “There is no need,” he told her. “It is I who should be thanking you. This experience has been fascinating.”

“And taxing,” she added. “How many times did we have to tried to make it?”

“I’m not sure. I lost count after the first dozen,” he chuckled.

“Yeah, I forgot too,” his friend added, but she did not join. She seemed more concerned than satisfied.

The figure stopped chuckling. “Is everything alright? Aren’t you happy?”

“No, I am,” she said, giving a small smile, “I’m just little worried, that’s all.

“About the future?”

“Yes. It’ll be a few centuries before ponies will migrate here. How will they survive…”

The alicorn’s companion cut her off before she could ramble. “The Toa will be there to protect you and your subjects until you’re ready. You need not worry about them,” he assured.

“Sorry,” the alicorn sheepishly smiled, which quickly faded. She fell silent for a few moments, almost hesitant to say anything. “And what about you? What will you do, now?”

“I will do as I always have: wait. It is all I can, right,” the figure spoke softly with a hint of sadness in his voice.

The alicorn noticed, and she knew the reason behind it. “I’m sorry I couldn’t help you and your people,” she said quietly.

The robed figure sighed. “My people’s time already passed long ago. You have seen it yourself.” He turned to the plant. “But all is not lost. This time, my race can leave something good behind.”

The alicorn was about to speak, but electricity crackled around her body before she could say anything. A moment later, she and the robed figure noticed a white light slowly engulfing her, yet neither of them were surprised by it.

“The time-spell's starting to wear off. I have to return,” the alicorn said. She quickly bowed her head to her friend. “Again, thank you for your help.”

The robed figure bowed back. “And thank you. Farewell and have a safe journey, Princess Twilight.”

“You as well, Master Angonce,” Twilight Sparkle smiled before the white light winked her out of her existence.

Alone, Angonce returned his gaze back to the small plant. It seemed like nothing with only the small leaf bent ever so slightly at his feet. However, it would grow into something magnificent in time and as a source of unimaginable of power. This Tree of Harmony, as Twilight called it, was supposed to be the new foundation in the world. Angonce saw it was something else. It was a memorial of his people and of himself. The one thing he could make without fear of the consequences.

Turning around, Angonce left the cavern for the lush Everfree Forest. There was much work to do, and he had only just started.

“After years of fighting, it’s finally over. The three tribes have finally been united.”

“Yes, but there are still old wounds between our races, Pansy. We need to make sure they stay together. I think a council might do that.”

“Let’s take it one step at a time, Smart Cooke. What do you think, Clover?”

“Well, I think our new country needs a name. How about… Equestria?”

“Who are you?! What have you done with the Council?!”

“Oh, them? Well, they were a bit boring, so I dropped them into a vat a pudding. As for me, I am Discord, the spirit of chaos and disorder, and as of now… your new king!

“Welcome. I see the Mask of Life has brought someone new. I know it must be disconcerting for you, but you must not panic.”

“Where am I? One minute I was in Discord’s keep with Luna and now… now I’m this white void. Is this one of Discord’s jokes? Just what creature are you? And… and is that a spirit next to you?”

“I apologize. It has been many years since I’ve spoken to another being. My name is Mata Nui and this, over here, is Matoro.”

“Luna, I will not fight you! You must lower the moon! It is your duty!”

“Luna? I am Nightmare Moon! I have but one royal duty now… to destroy you!”

“You see, Nightmare Moon, when those elements are ignited by the… the spark that resides in the heart of us all, it creates the sixth element: the Element of Magic!”

“Go on. Say it…”

“Alright. Friendship is magic.”

“See? He can be a real sweetheart once you get to know him.”

“I know how we can save the tree. We have to give it the Elements of Harmony.”

“How is this possible? You have no magic!”

“You’re wrong Tirek! I may have given you my alicorn magic, but I carry within me the most powerful magic of all!”

“You are now Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship! But what is the Princess of Friendship without her friends?”
