Christmas

It was that time of the year again. Celestia was in her castle, overlook her kingdom, which was full of colorful decorations and laughter. Foals playing in the snowy roads, and families spending time together, and sitting cozily near the fireplace. It was Christmas Eve. Celestia’s face was covered in a grand, joyful smile. Seeing her subjects happy made her happy too.

The silence was broken as Luna entered, quite loudly, the room.

“What are you plans on Christmas, sister? Do you want to invite anypony?” she asked.

“Well, I’ve been thinking of inviting Twilight and her friends. But I thought we might as well spend this Christmas together, by ourselves, since it is the first Christmas we can spend together after a thousand years,” said Celestia.

“That is true, sister. I missed you so much! The time I spent on the…. I don’t however want to bring that subject up. Oh sister, I cannot wait for tomorrow!” said Luna.

“Me too, but now it’s time to go to bed. Good night!” said Celestia.

“Good night!” exclaimed Luna while walking out the door.

She was running down the corridors to get to her room as fast as she could. Luna was incredibly happy. She had made a special present only for Celestia. As she entered her room she used her magic to open a drawer. There were a couple drawings and other knick-knacks in there. Luna dug though her things nervously, thinking she wouldn’t find the gift.

After a minute of searching Luna found it. It was an album-looking book. It had large cover, and on the front one it read “To my dearest, one and only sister”. Luna opened the book to look over her work, to be sure everything was perfect. The first page had a drawing of Luna leaning next to her sister, both looking peaceful. On the next page there was a letter, it read:

Dear Tia,

First of all, I want to say how much I love you. I would give anything in the world to be able to be near you! The time I spent on the moon was painful, full of struggles, not because of the punishment itself, but of the fact that I couldn’t see you.

Christmas is a great time of the year because it brings us together and I couldn’t ask for more. Knowing how busy you are it’s a gift itself getting to see you! But what I really want to say is… merry Christmas, Tia!

With love,

Luna

The following pages had loads of photos of them and different pictures, sketches, even a few little things Luna made when she was younger for Tia, but she never got to give them to her. Luna took some wrapping paper from a corner of her room and wrapped it around the book. She put a bow on the top of it and hid it in her drawer.

The following day, Luna was really excited. She ran into her balcony only to see Equestria covered in a layer of fluffy snow. Luna rushed back into her room, took the present from the drawer and ran downstairs. She stopped in the main hallway of the castle. In the middle of the room there was a huge tree full of decorations on it. Luna gently placed the present she had under the tree and strolled peacefully to the dining table. Celestia wasn’t there just yet, “Guess she allowed herself some special Christmas extra nap time”, mumbled Luna under her breath while giggling.

She sat down, waiting for her sister. Surely enough, she came right after that. Luna could see there was something wrong with Celestia, she couldn’t exactly realize what.

“Si-sister, is there something wrong with you?” asked Luna.

“I-I I am quite alright, it is just that, IT’S CHRISTMAS AND I’M REALLY EXCITED AND HAPPY!” exclaimed Celestia cheerfully.

Luna was laughing harder than ever, seeing her sister being so excited. They both started eating a very special Christmas breakfast. It consisted of pancakes, omelet, milk, muffins, and much more. Luna gobbled up her food, definitely not acting like a Princess. That’s when Celestia started laughing.

After the delicious breakfast Luna told Celestia to come to the Christmas tree. When they got there, Luna levitated with the help of her magic the present she had for Celestia. She opened it and thanked Luna for it, saying she would read it later. Luna insisted on reading it now, so Celestia did. She looked through all the pages and read her letter. Her eyes swelled up, and tears started running down her face. They were tears of joy, of happiness. Celestia turned to her sister. She hugged her.

They stayed there for a while, Luna being happy of how Celestia was moved by her present, and Celestia feeling happy seeing how much her sister cared about her and in the same time sad because of what she did to her one thousand years ago.

“Lulu, I’m sorry! I’m sorry of my deed one thousand years ago, and I didn’t even get you a gift for Christmas! Oh, please forgive me!”

“It’s ok Tia, no need to apologize, after all Christmas is a time of the year when you should be happy, and grateful for what you have! We all make mistakes, and as I said in my letter, no need for you to get me something,” said Luna.

That day, Celestia and Luna stayed together all day. They sat near the fireplace, drank hot chocolate, and told various Christmas stories. Celestia especially liked telling Luna the story of a family who was reunited after a war on Christmas. That day, was the perfect day for the two sisters. Since they had such a great time, time flew by quickly.

That was the best Christmas Luna and Celestia ever had. The first Christmas spent with Luna after being sent to the moon, also the first Christmas they spent that much time together, and most importantly, the day when they truly reunited.
