> Orc Must Die: Equestrian Allies > by DVAN56 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Choke-Point > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Orc Must Die: Equestrian Allies Choke-Point Proper story supposed to start at the beginning, not so simple with this one.- Rucks “Twily! How are you holding up?” Shining Armor shouted as his cutlass cleaved off yet another orc’s head. “Great since ‘He’ is not going to show,” Twilight replied as she unleashed a fireball. The fireball flew through the air past Shinning Armor and into a group of oncoming orcs. The orcs instantly burst into flames when the fireball exploded on them. They scrambled about screaming before falling over dead from the intense heat of the flames. Further down the stone halls of the Rift Fortress, the two saw more of the endless horde approaching. Shining raised his sword reading himself for the incoming horde while Twilight started reading another fireball. Both had confident looks on their faces knowing that the orcs would not get past the two of them. Then a horn started to bellow through out the hall, and the siblings confidence turned to fear. The horn was the signal for when gnolls entered the fortress. Unlike the orcs of the horde, gnolls where fast, strong, and sometimes cleaver making them one of the most dangerous monster the horde had to offer. “To the Choke-Point!” Shining Armor yelled as he started to run away from the horde, Twilight close behind him. The “Choke-Point” as they called it was an area the two had set up to help in their defense of the fortress. Here traps of both simple and complex design littered the wall, floor, and ceiling. One wall was lined with holes that would shootout spears when triggered. The other wall had columns of spiked rotating pillars and a suction that would pull the beast of the horde in and grind them up. The ceilings was line with spiked plates ready to pound any member of the horde that walked under them. Lastly the floor was lined was lined with pits of tar and fiery brimstone laid down in a checkerboard pattern that would slow the horde up, or set them on fire. The Choke-Point was the last point of defense before the Rift which the horde so desperately try to reach. Yet despite the deadliness of the traps they did have a weakness, time. Most of the traps took several seconds to reset, some even minutes, after firing. Time that the horde could use to slip through and pass through the Rift. The two ran through the Choke-Point to the other side. Despite the deadliness of the Checkpoint the traps of The Order are enchanted to be harmless to those defending the Rift. If a defender would be within range of the trap when horde beast came through the trap would just phase through them as if they were a ghost. The two had gotten to the other end of the Choke-Point before looking back. In front of the horde was was a small pack of seven gnolls running at breakneck speed towards them. The humanoid hyenas had orange fur with black stripes, they wore the skulls of their fallen brother and turned their bones into armor and first claws that are sharper than most razors. The claws themselves were drenched in a position that would slow down their targets and could fully paralyzing small creatures. They had their sights set on the sibling with no other desire than to rip them apart. “Ok Shining, Plan A or Plan B?” Twilight ask as it would determining what spell she would ready for the oncoming gnolls. “Plan ME!” a new voice said from behind with a bit of a cocky attitude. Twilight and Shining Armor both went pale. It couldn't be Him. He wasn't supposed to be coming to this fortress. The siblings turned to look behind them and sure enough they saw him standing in front of the Rift. Bladestaff in one hand, the magic crossbow in the other. He stood there with his trademark cocky grin plastered across his face. He was the War Mage! He ran up to the Choke-Point to where the siblings were. “Twilight, be a darling and take this,” the War Mage said as he tossed his crossbow to Twilight. “Remember, aim for their head this time” he then turned to shining armor,“ Armor....keep you sister safe on the off chance I let one through.” The War Mage then rushed into the Choke-Point ready to meet the gnolls that would survive the first round of traps head on. “You're going to shoot him again aren't you?” Shining Armor asked. “You know it,” Twilight responded as she started to aim the crossbow. She looked down the sight as saw the War Mage had gotten the gnoll’s attention. He was moving all around in the Chokepoint, leading the gnolls around into unsprung traps while taking swings at them with his bladestaff. One would think he was dancing by the way he moved from one spot to the next.   Twilight would take every clear shot that she could get at the gnolls. She was a crack shot too. Every magic bolt fired found its target, a gnoll’s head. Most fell dead from the shot when the bolt impale itself into their head, however a few bolts would bounce off the skull helms the gnolls wore. “Wait for it,” Shining said seeing the anticipation in his sister's eyes. A few more of the gnolls fell from the swing of a War Mage’s bladestaff. “One, two, five. Darn it lost count again,” The War Mage said casually as he continued his assault on the gnolls. That was the moment Twilight was waiting for. That smug overconfident saying that would make this all the sweeter. She moved her site from the last gnoll’s head to the War Mages rear end, and fired. “HAHA! Killstre-” The War Mage shouted before the bolt entered his butt. “AHHHHHH!!!” Both Twilight and Shining had to stifle their laughter as the War Mage ran in pain. The last gnoll had fallen to a traps and they would reset before the orcs arrived at the Choke-Point. They took the few second to enjoy the site before getting back to the slaying of orcs. The siblings had recovered from their laughter right before the orcs entered the Choke-Point. Twilight started throwing fireballs at the orcs and purposely throwing them so that their path was dangerously close to the War Mage. It was her way of letting him know that she still didn’t like him.   The rest of the incoming horde was just the simple mindless orcs and after a short few moments they had been either burned alive by Twilight's fireballs, or decapitated by Shining Armors sword. Only a few fell victim to the traps of the Choke-point. All the while the War Mage just ran around in pain till Shining got a hold of the bolt and let the War Mages momentum remove the bolt.  Either way the horde had been dealt with and the War Mage made a fool of so the day was considered a success in the eyes of the siblings. Twilight and Shining had sat down letting out a sigh of relief that they survived another day. Then let out a sigh of disappointment when they realized they would have to do it all over again tomorrow. Thats how its been since they were first drafted six months ago. Wake up, set up the Choke-point, and kill the incoming horde. Twilight then noticed the War Mage walking towards them. Her anger flared at the sight of him, she didn’t hate, not anymore anyway, but she would still get be angry with him. She just wanted to be able to go one day without hearing his annoying voice and cocky attitude. “You promised Us! ” She yelled as she got up and started marching towards the War Mage, “Yesterday you promised to leave us alone and let us deal with the horde our way! AND THEN YOU STILL SHOW UP!” “Easy now horsey, I -” “HORSEY!” Twilight shouted in a moment of fury. “Mama! Easy now ‘mama’. that's what I said right Armor” the War Mage turned to Shining Armor looking for help.   Shining Armor just shook his head at the War Mage not wanting to get involved in the shitstorm that was about to unfold. “Now listen here buster! You changed us without permission into,” Twilight waved her and out as if to show off her anthromorphic body, “whatever this is. And now you start throwing out racist insults on top of it. I’M A PONY! NOT SOME HORSE!” “There's a difference?” Twilight just stared at him blankly for a minute not sure if he was being serious or if he was trying to press her buttons as it were. It was hard to tell with the War Mage as he was never the most knowledgeable of mages, in fact he was the least knowledgeable mage Twilight had ever meet. He was also very childish and would purposely annoy someone just to get a laugh out of it. After a brief moment Twilight had an idea. Her purple fur turned creamy white and her hair and tail became fire. Her right hand had a fireball ready as she brought it up to the War Mages face. “Let me educate you then,” she said with an evil smirk. Shining Armor just watched unsure if his sister had finally gone off the deep end, or if he should laugh at the War Mage’s misfortune as Twilight started chasing him with fiery hands.  However unlike his sister, he couldn't rightly be angry at the War Mage for what he did to them six month ago being a soldier himself. And after seeing what the orc horde was capable of, part of him was glad he could help keep them from entering other worlds. Shining Armor laid his head back on the wall and let out another sigh as he closed his eyes and started to remember that day six mounth ago.
