Guardian
I can't go back, I can never go back not after the pain and suffering I went through. I was used and taken advantage of. Not anymore.
A stallion pegasus flew through the tan sunset sky. His coat was creamy tangerine orange, he had a satchel bag around his back filled with essentials,as for his mane and tail it was spiky and slicked back deep green flowing with the wind as he soared through the sky, his violet eyes were filled with sadness and anger as endless thoughts ran through his mind. He his flank his cutiemark was a moon and small bat with it's wings open indicating his ability involved the night.
The young pegasus had been flying for so long he started to exhausted himself. He then slowly started to descend for the soft dirt on ground. Panting heavily from the tiring flight he noticed that he was in front of a dark forest.
"I won't make to civilization by this hour! I probably have to make shelter in the forest then continue in the morning." He planned out.
The stallion then trotted forward to thick forest to take shelter.
Somewhere in Ponyvillle...
In a small cottage filled with different animals a yellow coated mare pegasus by the name of Fluttershy was trying persuade her pet rabbit Angel to eat his food.
"Please eat your food Angel. It's really good for you." The mare begged as she shoved the carrot near the rabbit. Being stubborn as he as was the rabbit pushed the carrot away and crossed his paws.
"Angel carrots are super tasty and really good for you. Just one bit." She asked really politely. Unfortunately the rabbit still refused. The rabbit then hopped away from the kitchen but came back a large book entitled '101 ways to make Salad' opened the book point the image picture of the large salad.
Realizing the bunny's request she happily replied, "Don't worry Angel, I'll have ready in while." Fluttershy as got the ingredients Angel hopped on out the kitchen. Still as impatient as he was the bunny crossed his paws tapped his foot on the floor. Angel heard his little stomach growling, he didn't want to wait for Fluttershy to finish his salad. Angel wanted eat something right now!
Angel decided to look outside on the cottage in the garden. As he hopped outside and checked in the garden he smelled something different: It smelled...sweet and juicy. He followed the scent which lead him to the Everfree Forest! However Angel didn't care and went though the forest.
Just as Angel was hopping to the forest, Fluttershy had just finished making the salad. "Angel I had your salad." However the rabbit didn't appear and she wasn't given a response. "Angel?" She started to call out to her pet rabbit but she was given a response. Fluttershy started to worry so she started to search for Angel. He was nowhere to be seen.
"Angel where are you?" Then she realized something. The door was slightly ajar leaving crack just large enough for a rabbit to fit through. Her pupils sunk in fear as everything started to process. She opened the door and saw something.
Footprints. Tiny rabbit footprints heading to the Everfree Forest.She was terrified, the sun was sunset and was about to get dark. It true is that Angel was tough but he couldn't defend. Especially in the Everfree Forest!
Fluttershy swiftly followed the trail of her pet's footprints.
The scent was getting strong. Angel was still on searching for the sweet essence his been smelling. He didn't even notice it was so close to night time. While searching he stopped something out of the corner of his eye. Something orange was stick out of the bushes. Angel hopped to the object and noticed that the smell was get stronger.
Thinking it was carrot he bit down hard on the orange object. Instead he was startled by a scream of pain.
OOWW! It turns out it was hoof and it was bleeding from the bit mark from the rabbit. Soon a figure started to stand up from the bush and over-towered Angel. It was a pegasus stallion and he was looking at his hoof in pain from the fresh new bit mark. He then looked at Angel and gave them a cold glare.
"Does this look it a carrot to you?!" The pegasus yelled at the rabbit showing him his hoof. Angel was a little shocked at first but then glared back. The rabbit then pointed to his mouth to stallion to show he was hungry. The pegasus tilted his head in confusion until he released what the rabbit meant.
"Oh... you were hungry? Sorry I yelled, I'm just little aggravated. I think have something for you." He then opened his saddlebag pulled out piece of what seemed like cranberry pie. Angel licked his lips at the site of the desert.The pegasus gave him the pie and told him to runoff. Was about to hop away he heard something.
"Angel are you here?" The was gentle with a worried tone. He immediately knew who it was so hopped a few feet away until he saw her. Almost immediately Angel was pulled into a hug with gripping vice by the yellow pegasus.
"Oh Angel I was so worried! I thought you were going to get hurt so I came here to come get you! Please don't leave all by yourself at night especially near the Everfree forest." Fluttershy rambled worriedly at her pet. Angel nodded his head in obedience. Fluttershy then noticed the slice of pie in Angel's paws.
"Angel where did you get that pie?" She asked quietly. Angel then pointed to the direction of where of got the desert and began to hop away.
"Angel! Please wait?" Fluttershy yelled as she followed him.
Angel finally stopped at his marked destination behind the bushes with Fluttershy catching up. As Fluttershy got there Angel pointed to the stallion pegasus starting a fire.
"He's the one that gave you the pie?" Fluttershy asked quitely to not startle the pegasus. Angel smiled and nodded then hopped up to the stallion. The pegasus noticed the rabbit from earlier near his forelegs looking up at him.
"Hey what are you doing back here? It's pretty dangerous to be out here in the open at night." The pegasus said concerning while petting Angel's head. Angel then pointed out to the bushes where Fluttershy was hiding. The pegasus looking back at Angel then to the bushes. Feeling suspicious, he trotted over to the bushes.
"Is anypony out there?" He called out. Fluttershy tried to remain quiet as the other pegasus got closer to bush. She didn't know why she was so scared. Probably it was that he was a new pony or just her shy nature was getting the best of her. But he really did seem like a nice pony. So she muttered up the courage to walk out of bushes to greet him..
However she avoided eye contact and hid behind her mane, "Hi. I'm Fluttershy"
" I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that?" He said calmly. Fluttershy tried to speak up a little bit louder.
"I'm Fluttershy" She said quietly but able to let him hear her name.
"Fluttershy... that's a nice name. I'm Dusk Vine." He said while warmly smiling. "What are you doing out here in the forest?"
She began to explain in a shy tone, "I was looking for my pet bunny, Angel. He hopped away to here until I found here." Angel then hopped on to her shoulder.
Dusk Vine looked back at Angel, "So you're that rabbit's owner. Just one question: Does Angel have diseases or anything thing because...well.." He showed her his left hoof with a rabbit bite marks on. Fluttershy slightly gasped then looked back at Angel.
"Angel did you bite his hoof?" Fluttershy ask worriedly. Angel nodded his head then explained that he thought it was a carrot. She then looked back Dusk Vine, "I'm really sorry about that, but he never meant to do it on purpose."
He nodded in understanding. A few minutes of silence passed when Fluttershy asked shyly, " Would it be rude of me to ask, as to why your in a forest this dangerous?"
"Not at all. I knew it would be late for to rent a hotel room in the next town I'm going to if I went through the forest so I decided to set up camp." He fully explained
"But...in a place like this? It's full of dangerous creatures? Like Manticores, Cragadiles, and Tim-" She paused for a moment then held Angel close while stuttering in fear. Behind Dusk Vine in the darkness of the trees, green deadly eyes were glowing with sounds of low pitch growls. Dusk Vine turned around then his pupils shrunk in fear. Three wolk-like creatues made of leaves, logs, and twigs came out the shadows continued growling.
They both simultaneously whispered in fear, "Timberwolves!"
The one in the middle was about to pounce but she dodge the attack and began to run. The three give chase to the yellow pegasus only leaving Dusk Vine to chase after them.
She kept running. Trying to run as fast as her forelegs could carry her. Fluttershy dared not to look back as the Timberwolves were geting closer. She kept making different turns so they could loose her. Her attempts failed as they were still on her trail. Finally she reached a dead end.
Fluttershy turned around she saw the Timberwolves getting closer. If she wasn't petrified in fear, she would have used her wings to escape. She started to back away was they were getting closer, snarling and growling. Fluttershy held Angel in a tight hug, closing her to prevent tears for falling out as started to whimper for help.
"P-please...anypony...help!" However by some miracle her prayers were heard. She heard a large yelp from one of the timberwolves then opened her eyes. Surprisingly Dusk Vine had knocked down one of the wolves and kicked it's chest. The other two wolves noticed what happened to one the pack members then started snarling turning there attention towards the orange stallion. With a smirk on face started to taut them.
"Oh I'm sorry did make you upset? You might as well caught me first!" And with that he ran in different direction with the two remaining timberwolves chasing him. They were getting close. Too close. His wings were up and ready to flying however just when was about to take off the pack leader pounced. It sunk it's jaw on the tendons in Dusk Vine's left wing.
"AAAAHHHH! " however he manage to escape another snap at those jaws. He looked at his wing. A fresh wound appeared with blood dripping out. He then glared at the two timberwolves with rage. He charged at the two wolves punching the other wolf in the muzzle. It whimpered started to run away. The leader was only left. They both stared daggers at each other circling around waiting for who make the first move. Dusk Vine charged but the wolf dodged his attack making him stumble and fall flat on his back. The wolf took the opportunity to pounce and it's claw across the stallion's chest.
He let out another bloodcurdling scream. Dusk Vine was now enraged and kicked the timberwolf off him.It was dazed on the ground by the sudden attack. Dusk Vine rushed up to smash hoof on head into the dirt leaving it unconsciousness. The sighed relief for his victory then trotted back to Fluttershy.
Fluttershy starting to worry about the screaming she heard. Suddenly she saw Dusk Vine walking up to her, panting with exhaustion. Her eye were filled with worry and concern. She quickly trotted to him as he started to limp.
"Oh my! Are you okay?" She worriedly asked. He smiled warmly about how much concerned she saw concerned about him.
"Well aside from me bleeding out from my wing and chest I'm fine. I've been through worst." He then collapsed to the ground, and passed out. Fluttershy gasped at this action. She hesitantly got closer to him and put hoof on his neck.
She sighed in relief. There was pulse but very weak pulse. Without wasting another minute she land Angel lifted him up and started to fly back to her cottage.
As got there she opened the door and carried his body upstairs to her room. She placed him on her bed.
"Angel could you please bring the medical kit in the bathroom." Angel nodded hopped away for moment but came back with the kit.
Fluttershy opened it and took out hydrogen peroxide and a cotton ball. She dabbed the peroxide on the cotton ball and proceeded to clean the wound on his wing and chest. If Dusk Vine wasn't passed out during this moment he problem would have winced in pain by the peroxide burning through his wound. After she finished with that she wrapped the bandage around his wounds.
She left him sleeping on her bed . Fluttershy trotted to the door but stopped to look back at the orange pegasus. She smiled sweetly at him then whispered, " Thank you. "
Fluttershy flew downstairs to her couch and proceeded to sleep with Angel curled up to her.
