Chapter 1
My name is Emulator and, my 'special talent' is games. Yep, that's right, games. Pretty useless right? Well, my parent's thought so too. I didn't think so though, I thought I was destined for greatness, like I was going to be Equestria's best game boarder, but...all that really happened was I ended up opening a boring little store on the corner of Ponyville, after my parent's 'banished' me from staying with them, saying I was useless. I used to believe them too, but...that all changed when a certain mare walked into my store one day, it was about a week ago...this... is what led up to my brush with death, all because of that one special mare, and her adventurous brother.
I yawn as I wake up, the sunlight peering through the cracks in my window shutters. I sigh as I push myself out of bed, practically dragging myself into the shower. 'It's gonna be another boring day.' I think to myself. Nothing really happens in my store. Occasionally Vibes or Pinkie Pie will come on in, or a mother with her colt or filly, bored of the games they already have, but besides that, nothing. I step out of the shower, turning it off and drying myself off. I then proceed to the front, where my store is located at the front of my house. I sigh and flip the 'Closed' sign to 'Open'. 'It's gonna be another boring day.' I repeat to myself once again, like I have for the past couple of years now.
After an hour or so, I still haven't had any customers. I'm actually surprised that I have enough bits every month to pay the rent on this ol' shack. As I lean into my 'relaxed' position on the counter, I hear a 'Ding!'. I look up and smile as I see a white unicorn with a red and black mane, with a plethora of musical notes on his flank. I push myself off the counter and smile a bit more.
"'Eh Vibes, what's up?" I say, watching him enter, leaning back onto the counter.
"Hey Em, not much. Anything new for you?" he says with a smile on his face, approaching the counter.
I shake my head "Nawh, same ol' same old.".
"Nothing ever changes in your life does it?" he responds, leaning on the counter a bit and frowning a bit.
"No...I've been thinking the same thing for the past five years, whereas your life is different everyday." I say, ending with a chuckle.
Vibes chuckles as well, "I guess it does." he counters, smiling a bit.
"So, we still set for tonight? You, me and-" I stop and chuckle a bit. "Vinyl?" I finished with a smile.
"Sure, what time?" he replies, smirking.
I think for a while and respond. "Well, anytime is good, not like I have any customers anyway..." Drifting the sentence off, frowning.
Vibes's smirk fades "Hey, you have some good customers. Don't be so negative." he replies to me.
I sigh and nod. "I know, I just wish I could have some varie-" I stop speaking as I hear a ding, I look past Vibes, only to see a beautiful, pale blue earth mare with golden hair and a feather on her flank walk in with a smile. My mouth drops open as I see her, my eyes widening.
"Uhh...h-h-welcome to Em's Board G-g-games." I say as I notice Vibes smirk, as he realizes I like her, but the beautiful mare, seemingly does not, as she walks up to the counter, examining the many games.
"Hmmm... what's that one?" she says, pointing to one of the less popular board games, named 'Discord's Fall'.
"I-it-uh...It's c-called Discore-cord! D-discord's fall m-ma'am." I saying, looking away, blushing heavily, as I hear Vibes chuckling. The mare notices my blushing and chuckles.
"My name's Penflower, you must be Em, I presume?" she says, smiling a bit. I nod slowly, blushing still.
"P-penflower t-that's a beu-n-nice name...a-and yes I-I'm E-em." I finish. "Em, can I speak to you in private for a second?" Vibes says, clearing his throat, making sure I heard him.
"Y-yeah, come here." I say as I lead him around to the hall behind the counter, out of Penflower's earshot. "Y-yeah?" I say, looking at him.
He looks at me with a concerned face and says "Em, what is going on? I've never seen you so nervous. I know you like her and all but nopony should stutter that much.". I look down, blushing slightly.
I sigh and say "I-I know, but she's just like...perfect, ya'know, and I never saw anypony as beautiful as her.".
Vibes shakes his head slightly and says "You need to stallion-up and talk to her normally.". I nod and follow him out to the front counter, smiling as I see her waiting there.
"S-so, what can I getcha?" I say, trying not to blush or stutter. She giggles slightly and says
"I'll take the 'Discord's Fall' board game please.". I nod and grab it with my mouth, placing it down beside her.
"15 bits please." I say, starting to blush slightly. She nods and grabs a few from a pouch hanging on her back, aswell as a piece of paper and a pen. She quickly writes something down on the paper, then hands me them and leaves the store, smiling. I take the bits and place them in the register, then, I look to the paper, writting on it is:
15. Greenwall Street
I gasp and turns to Vibes, grinning. "What?" Vibes asks clearly confused. I slide him the paper, still grinning. Vibes reads it and smiles,
"She gave you her address?". Vibes says, smirking slightly.
I hope so..."
Vibes chuckles and says, "Well I'll see you tonight, I'm gonna go get lunch. I'm starving." I nod and say goodbye, smiling.
