Awaken in Canterlot

“I'll never get tired of this view.” Misaka Mikoto looked out over the city she called home. She would often come to this rooftop of a skyscraper, not too far from Tokiwadai, her school. She came up here to be alone with her thoughts. The day after the “level upper” incident, then after the whole “someones watching” thing and especially after the level six shift. Today was not quite as bad as those, she just had allot on her mind. Academy City, home to two point three million people. Eighty percent of which are students. It is the most technologically advanced place on earth with most technologies in the city being at least thirty years ahead of the rest of the world. However this city is most well know for producing espers, or psychics. People with super natural abilities.

“Why can't my life ever just be calm?” She sighed, closing her eyes in an attempt to clear her mind.
No matter what I do, I cant keep my friends from worrying. She thought to herself with an uncharacteristic dose of melancholy.

She then opened her eyes, expecting to see the familiar city scape, but, that was not what the she saw. There before her was a wide open landscape of trees and valleys, she could make out a small town far below her. Astonished she blinked a few times, but every time she opened her eyes the scene remained.

“What the? Where am I?” She attempted to spin around to get a better idea of her bearings but she ended up falling on her face. She shook her head, trying to brush off the mild pain and the heavy embarrassment. Why did I fall, something doesn’t feel right. She looked at her legs and counted. One, two... Four! She had four legs, and they were covered in white fur! Misaka ran her tongue along her teeth, and neither felt right. Looking further down, she was disturbed to find she no longer had feet or hands, but rather... Hooves?!.

“What is this!?” She stumbled back to her feet, no, her hooves and looked around. She was on a street made of finely laid cobblestone old western style shops adorn the streets with.. wait, what are those? Are those.. Ponies? Wearing cloths? One in a very posh suit, a monocle, and bow tie with a luxurious blue mane was fast approaching her.

“I say dear filly, are you alright? You seem quite lost.” The pony spoke in a strangely high brow manner. Misaka was no stranger to this type, besides the whole talking pony aspect. Being a famous and powerful level five psychic of which academy city had only seven, as well as attending an elite private all girls academy she knew how to engage high society. But wait, it's a talking pony! How is that even possible!

“You’re a pony.” Misaka said dumbfounded, staring at the creature before her blankly.

The pony raised an eyebrow. “Why, yes. Yes I am. Are you in need of medical attention? Perhaps you hit your head.”

Misaka stared at him impotently. “You’re a pony. You can talk.”

“Um, yes. I can. So can you?” The high society pony was now convinced that the young mare before him was either crazy or injured.

Was another psychic using a mind control or illusion power? No, Misaka's power made her immune to neural interference. Then what could it be, it didn’t feel like a dream and she was standing wide awake on a rooftop a minute ago. 'Wait! Did he just say I'm a pony to?!

“Let me take you to Canterlot hospital, I'm sure they can fix you right up!” The posh pony never broke his smooth smile as he spoke.

“Where is Academy City from here, Am I still in Japan?” She said, the numbness of the shock from talking ponies wearing off allowing her to form complete thoughts.

“Academy City? Japan? I'm afraid I've never heard of such places.” Misaka's heart sank as he spoke.

“Academy City! The center of all technology in the world! Oh forget it! What country am I in?” Misaska's signature temper was beginning to flare up.

“Why, you are in Equestria of course and this, it's capital city Canterlot!” The pony motioned with his hoof sweeping it across the city. It was at this point that Misaka had noticed something she was too shocked to notice before. He had a horn.

Wait, what! So now he's a unicorn! What is this! “Wait, Equestria? Canterlot? Are you kidding me?” She ran her hand, no! Her hoof through her short, light brown hair... Mane! Whatever! She conceded to herself. Sparks of electricity crackled through the air as her hoof ran through her mane. The sparks made the pony take a step back, his upper class demeanor breaking into an uneasiness.

“Um. Miss, please calm down.”

Misaka sighed, At least she still had her ability. She started to calm down, the sparks ceasing. The pony noted that she had calmed down and continued speaking.

“My name is Fancy Pants, and you are?” He pressed

What the hell?! Fancy Pants! How is that a name! Does this place make any sense! Though by this point she figured that trying to make any sense of this situation was more trouble than it was worth. She again sighed.

“I'm Misaka Mikoto.” She said exasperated, extending a hoof not exactly sure how a hand shake would, wait, hoof shake?

“What a unique name. Its a pleasure to meet you.” Fancy Pants took her hoof in his and kissed it like a gentleman. Misaka had to resist rolling her eyes at the gesture.

“Anyway.” She began as she retracted her hoof. “Do you have a cell phone I could use? I want to try and call my friend.” She asked even though she new it was highly unlikely they would have cell phones. Firstly because it would be really hard to text with hooves, and secondly because it would be almost impossible to hold.

“What is a cell phone?”

“Never mind. Can you just tell me who's in charge around here?”

“Ah, that would be the Princess.”

Okay, so ponyland has a princess. She thought to herself.
“So where can I find this 'princess'” She hoped whoever was in charge would have an idea why she was suddenly here.

“I'm terrible sorry but the princess is very busy, some awful business going on here in Canterlot and our dear princess is trying to get to the bottom of it” His pleasant persona turned to a look of worry as he spoke.

“What kind of awful business?” It was not in Misaka's nature to not help someone in need, an attribute that had gotten her into most of her crazy situations. She hoped that the trend would not continue here.

This time it was Fancy Pants who sighed. “You see, a mysterious group of ruffians have taken to causing trouble in our fine city. We have had a few break-ins, and a lot of vandalism. Just the other day we even had an assault! Its absolutely unheard of in most of Equestria let alone the home of the Princess!” His tone and look became more distraught as he explained.

Wow, here they consider vandalism a big deal! I wish Academy City was as peaceful. Is what she thought in her fore-mind but all the while in the back of her mind she kept repeating 'Don’t get involved, don’t get involved, don’t get involved!Fancy Pants had continued talking.

“That's why is came to check on you anyway, I thought you might have been caught up with them and been hurt.”

Again blots of electricity shot out from around her body, though this was not from a lost temper but rather to make a point.

“Common thugs don't worry me”

Fancy Pants smiled at her. “I can see that. I say, how are you doing that anyway? You’re and earth pony, how can you do magic?”

“Magic? There's no such thing as magic. My power comes from physics, Its based in the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.”

The stallion laughed. “No such thing as magic?” His horn began to glow as he adjusted his monocle. “Why without magic the sun would not rise or set, of course we have magic!”

Misaka shook her head slowly, it would be insane of her to argue the existence, or lack there of, of magic to a talking unicorn.

“Come, why don't I show you around Canterlot? I am unusually free today, and you seem like and interesting young mare to spend an otherwise dull day with.”

Instinctively her first thought was to yell at him for calling her a mare, but she knew he didn't mean it with any venom and it really wouldn’t help her to argue these things, so she brushed off her anger and took a deep breath.

“Why not.” She said sounding defeated.

“Marvelous! Then we shall take our leave.” With that, the two walked down the streets of Canterlot.

Bits and vandals

Fancy and Misaka walked around Canterlot, stopping every now and then so Fancy could make small talk with other seemingly upper class ponies. Misaka had to stifle a laugh the first couple times this occurred. This is almost no different from Academy City, you have to put on a face around people who matter to get ahead. I guess this place has more than just vandalism wrong with it. For some reason this made her feel a little more at ease. When a pony commented on her presence, which happened with surprising infrequency, he would simply tell them that she was new to Canterlot and he was showing her around. So it wasn't exactly a lie, she was glad she didn't have to talk to them herself, most of them seemed somehow, less sincere than Fancy pants. No matter the pony though his word seemed to carry allot of clout. I guess he really is somepony imp-Someone! Someone important!

"So tell me about where you are from? Japan was it? Is it far?" Misaka had been hoping to avoid this topic, knowing that anything she would say would make her sound crazy and anything her would say would make her feel crazy. All she could do was shrug for the thousandth time that morning and answer it anyway.

"I'm not just from a different country, I'm from another world! There are no ponies, well at least none that can talk. There is definitely no magic and people, humans are the dominant species! I have no idea how i ended up here, or how to get back. Which is why I want to see this Princess"

“So you're saying where you come from ponies don't talk, there is no such thing as magic and beings called humans rule the world?” Fancy Pants inquired incredulously, to which Misaka merely nodded.

Fancy gave a hardy, good natured laugh. “Surely you must understand how preposterous that sounds.”
The pair made they're way through the city, attracting suspicious looks from ponies as they passed.

She sighed. She had given up trying to convince herself that this was all some sort of illusion shortly after her meeting with Fancy pants, but was still working on giving up on logic. Several responses came to mind but she had been talking in circles about where she came from for tens of minutes to the... Ugh, unicorn. She rolled her eyes.

“If you think I'm crazy then why are you still walking with me? Don't you have anything better to do than follow around a crazy pon-Person! Crazy person!” She mentally kicked herself for almost referring to herself as a pony. Don't let this place get to you Mikoto.

Fancy smiled, adjusting his monocle again before replying. “I'm a gentlecolt!” He said proudly. “I could never leave a young mare alone when there are ruffians on the loose. Besides, I find you to be quite fascinating. Also I never said I thought you were crazy.” Misaka gave a snide laugh.

“If someone told me they were from a wold of talking ponies I wouldn’t think they were crazy. I would know it.” She stared at the ground with a distant look, her tone of voice became somewhat cynical. At least until today that is.

“Well my dear, that's the benefit of knowing magic is real.” His horn began to glow. “The most amazing things can happen, and you don't think to yourself This is impossible. Instead you think, This is amazing!” A blue flash of light of light from Fancy's horn made Misaka shut her eyes, once she opened them they were no longer standing in the same street. They now stood on soft grass, the sound of running water trickled nearby. Flowers adorned the perimeter of the garden, The busy streets and bustling shops stood a short distance away. They had teleported into a park.

“This is one of my favorite places in all of Canterlot! The Canterlot public gardens!” Misaka looked up at Fancy Pants, his normal smooth smile of a socialite had been replaced by a more fond, natural smile. He clearly had cherished memories of this place. Misaka couldn’t help but smile in kind.

“Ah, and of course there's the old fountain.” He began to turn around. “When ever I come here I always throw a bit...” He froze, and as soon as Misaka's eyes met the fountain she saw why.

“Oh Celestia. Those vandals have defaced the fountain!” Indeed, it had been. In the center of the fountain was a statue of a very regal unicorn, well sort of a unicorn. It had wings to, what would that make it? Regardless! It's had been painted like a clown and it's front left leg had been broken off. Also, Misaka noticed that all the coins in the fountain were missing. She looked over to Fancy Pants, who for only a brief moment had a look of anguish. He took a deep breath, and his normal demeanor returned.

“Those vandals you mentioned earlier, they're the ones who did this?” Misaka stood, glaring at the fountain, a spark arced across her bangs. Fancy Interjected once he saw this.

“Ah, not to worry Ms. Misaka. I'm sure the Princess and the royal guard will have this solved in no time at all. Now come, we shall alert the guard then we may proceed to enjoy our day.” Fancy pants began walking away from the scene, but Misaka lingered for a moment longer, staring at the fountain.
“Hey Fancy Pants!” He turned upon hearing his name, Misaka turned from the fountain and faced him with a devilish smile.

“Yes?”

“You mentioned bits earlier, I wanted to ask you something about them.” Fancy raised an eye brow, but nodded for her to finish. Electricity crackled through the air, arcing from her tail and mane, ozone permeating through the air.

“Do they make any in steel?”

Dinner with Fancy

“Will that do?” The glow from his horn dimming, Misaka grinned.

“That's perfect, thanks. It's the same weight and dimensions. If anything it's even smoother than my normal coin, should make it even more accurate because of the reduced drag.” She ran her hoof against her mane, feeling the coin tucked neatly under her hair pins... Mane pins? How do these ponies function without fingers? I mean sure this one can use some form of telekinesis but what about the ones without horns? Can they still do that?

“Still, I am rather surprised. I thought you would spend it. After all that's no copper bit.”

“Is it valuable? Sorry, I didn't realize. You can have it back if you want.” She returned her hoof to her mane, and failed miserably at trying to use fingers she no longer had. A wave of frustration as she frantically rubbed her hoof against the coin trying to dislodge it.

“Oh no, that's quite alright. After all, you said it was perfect and it's not as though it's a silver or gold bit. Please keep it if you like.”

“You sure?”

“Absolutely!” Misaka smiled back at him, bringing her hoof back to the ground.

“Thanks.”

“Oh think nothing of it. Now, we really should alert the royal guard. Who ever this miscreant is he should be dealt with promptly.” Misaka nodded as Fancy turned and began walking back towards the city.

“Halt, who goes there!” The commanding voice startled Misaka. She spun around to see two winged ponies in armor. Okay, so there are pegasus here to. Wait, two of them? Pegasi? How do they get armor on without hands? Gah! This place makes no sense!

“Ah, we were just coming to see you. As you can see someone has vandalized the garden and the statue of our princess.” Oh, so that was a statue of the princess. Misaka though as she looked back over to the ruined fountain.

“Did you see the perpetrator?” The two asked in unison, their faces completely inscrutable.

“I fear we arrived after the fact. We were just on our way to report it actually.” They eyes Misaka suspiciously, which didn't go unnoticed by Fancy Pants.

“By we I of course meant myself and my friend, this young filly. She has been in my company the entire day.” The guards glanced at each other, nodded then looked back at Fancy.

“Very well, please report anything suspicious you see to the royal guard.”

“Why of course.” He smiled diplomatically. The guards took their leave.

“So those were the royal guard?” Misaka asked, feeling slightly offended for being suspected.

“Yes, I'm terribly sorry they suspected you. They were simply doing their job you understand.” Misaka nodded. Does he think I'm the type of pon... Person! who would shock anyone who bothers... Never mind. She sighed. Then her stomach betrayed her, letting out a rather unladylike grumble. Her head snapped forward and she tried to stifle a blush from embarrassment. Fancy chuckled.

“I-I didn't have breakfast this morning, then I ended up here and I forgot all about it.” Misaka put a hoof over her stomach, trying to quell it.

“Shall we go?” Misaka looked up at him, raising an eyebrow.

“Where?”

“To eat of course. I know a delightful little restaurant nearby.”

“I don't really have any money.” She looked downcast, she didn't want to spend the steel bit Fancy had given her.

“Nonsense, of course I shall pay. I am a gentlecolt after all and I can not simply let a pony go hungry.”

“Are you sure? I don't want to keep taking your money.” Her stomach disagreed as it growled again.

“Think nothing of it. Now let us be off.” He again walked out of the park. Misaka stood still for a moment longer. I'll pay you back for all your help. She took one last look at the fountain. And I know just how I'm going to do that. With determined eyes she turned back and followed Fancy.

They stopped in front of a small building, unimpressive by the standards of the buildings around it. It had small, arched windows and was made mostly of wood as opposed to the stone masonry of most other building around. It seemed like an older building with a lot of character.

“Is this it?”

“Indeed it is. Shall we go?” Misaka nodded and they entered. The inside was more impressive than the outside, it was rustic but high class at the same time. The room had two dividers, on each side were stalled seating and in the center, between the dividers were open tables. Many delicious scents filled her nose and a band played in the background. A server walked up to them, she smiled amiably.

“Table for two please.” The server nodded.

“Right this way.” They followed her down the middle of the room, seating them at an open table. She pulled two menus out of a bag on her back, placing them on their table with her mouth. Is that even sanitary? Well I guess the ponies without horns just have to deal without fingers, that seems unfair

“Can I start you off with something to drink today?” Without even looking at his menu, he instantly responded.

“Yes, could I get a cider please.” She nodded and turned to Misaka who seemed lost in thought.

“And what would you like?” She was snapped out of her thought, How was she supposed to know what they had?

“Do you have tea?”

“Sure do, what kind do you want?”

“Jasmine? And you wouldn’t happen to have any steel cups would you?” Yeah right! Academy city and even Japan don't exist here. There is no way the would have jasmine...

“Coming right up.” She walked away back to the kitchen. Oh. Fancy Pants levitated his menu. Adjusting his monocle he scanned it quietly. Meanwhile, Misaka clumsily fumbled with her menu. Ineffectively bumping her hooves against the table before shrugging. 'Do I really have to do this?!' Without finger she didn't have much of a choice. She dropped her head to the table, trying to grip the menu with her teeth, only to get a mouth full of table cloth instead. She brought her eyes up to see fancy pants staring at her. She blushed furiously before spitting out the cloth. That familiar smell filled the air as her temper flared but before she could release any lighting along with a long overdue verbal tirade the menu stood itself up and opened. Misaka looked at Fancy's horn, which was now glowing even brighter as it levitated both their menus.

“Now I know you're hungry but the waitress will be back shortly to take our orders, there is no need to eat the table cloth.” He teased, laughing good naturedly. Misaka grumbled, but her anger passed. As if on cue the waitress came back, balancing a tray in one hoof. She tilted the tray and the drinks slid right off onto the table without spilling so much as a drop. Misaka was impressed.

“Have you decided on what you want?”

“Yes, I would like an apple turnover please.” She looked to Misaka, who was frantically looking through the menu. Gah! I hate when I get put on the spot like this! If I take my time I'll feel rude, but I don't want to get something I don't like. I can't think with all this pressure!

“I'll just have what he's getting.” She sighed in defeat as she waitress walked away.

“Marvelous, the apple turnover here is delightful.”

“Good to know.” Small sparks danced around her and her metal cup floated up to her mouth. At least some of the laws of physics still make sense here.

“I thought you couldn’t levitate things?”

“It only works on ferromagnetic and small diamagnetic things, I create coils of electrons around the cup, as the electrons flow they create a magnetic field that I can control. It's a really versatile ability where I'm from because everything is made of metal and electronics.” Misaka didn't expect Fancy to understand most of what she just said, but she tried to keep her explanation as simple as she could.

“Well it's very impressive to be sure. Can everyone where you are from do that?”

“Well not everyone, most people don't have any powers at all, out of all of them I'm the third strongest. My best friend can teleport, some can read minds, others can control fire while the most powerful can control fundamental forces of physics like controlling vectors or dark matter. Then there's him, that idiot with that weird right hand of his, always getting into trouble and saving people even if it gets him hurt. And why is it always a girl anyway!” She stopped suddenly realizing where her tangent had taken her. she blushed lightly.

“Ah, I assume he must be your coltfriend.” Misaka looked at him blankly for a moment. Coltfriend? What does that..

“He's not my boyfriend!” She shouted, turning heads in the whole restaurant. Two ponies in particular took interest enough to make their way over to them.

“Fancy Pants is that you? Fabulous to see you in a place like this.” Fancy Pants smiled and greeted the couple with his usual attitude.

“Ah Upper Crust, Jet Set, so nice to see you.” The stallion turned his attention to Misaka, adjusting his glasses as he scrutinized her.

“Who is this? She looks like a particularly suspicious commoner.”

“Why this is my Friend, her name is Misaka.” Jet Set was practically glaring at her now.
“Misaka? What an unusual name. You're her friend? This is more preposterous than the time at the Canterlot garden party with that small town dress maker and her crazy friends.”

“But if you recall her friend turned out to become a princess did she not?” Jet Set looked down nervously for a moment, then quickly changed the subject.

“You know, I heard about what happened at the public park, I wonder what suspicious pony could have done it.” He looked condescendingly at Misaka, that was a mistake. While Jet Set and Upper Crust didn't know what the now overbearing smell of ozone meant Fancy knew full well that lightening wasn't far behind.

“Oh? You mean you don't know her? You must be falling out of the Canterlot elite to now know.” Misaka's rage turned to confusion but she kept a good poker face.

“What do you mean?” The couple asked nearly at the same time.

“Why, this young mare is a princess from the distant land of Japan. She is here as a personal guest of Princess Celestia and I am showing her around Canterlot for today.” Misaka laughed manically in her head.

“She's a princess?” They still needed convincing and Misaka was more than happy to play along.

“That is right! And I am very offended! If I hear one more word of this I shall have to share the details of my experience in your city with your princess!” She fought she urge to burst out laughing with ever word.

“I-I don't believe you.” Jet Set sounded nervous, all they needed was a little push.

“I would not offend the princess if I were you. Her people have a unique magic.” He turned is head to Misaka and winked. On cue she arced lightening around the room, dissipating the voltage before it could do any real damage, It was little more than a very impressive light show. It worked. The pair bowed their heads to Misaka and apologized fervently.

“Very well, I Shall forgive you this time. Now be off so I can enjoy my meal.” The two agreed and quickly fled. As soon as they were out of ear shot Misaka and Fancy burst out laughing.

“That was great! Did you see the looks on their faces!”

“Indeed. I must thank you for helping take those two down a notch, and for playing along in my silly prank.” A different waitress came back with two apple turnovers.

“Y'all should probably take those to go, chef's not to happy about scar'n our customers.” She dropped the plates on the table and added. “Just between you and me, they totally deserved that.” She left two paper bags on the table before leaving.

“Yes, we probably should be going.” He levitated his meal into the bag. 'Oh no! I am not waiting to eat or embarrassing myself trying to carry this thing!' She took a deep breath and took large quick bites out of her plate. It was finished in only a few seconds. She wiped away the crumbs off her mouth.

“Okay now we can go.” Fancy smiled warmly and placed several bits on the table and they made their way out.

They had just stepped out of the restaurant when suddenly a blur of gray and pale yellow bumped into Misaka, nearly knocking her off balance, he barely slowed down and didn't even look back.

“Are you alright Misaka?” She opened her mouth to respond when a shrill voice cut her off.

“Someone stop him! He stole my purse!” Misaka and Fancy Pants looked quickly from the mare to the alleged thief.

“That must be the..” Fancy started but was cut off by Misaka

“The vandal!”

“The vandal!” Misaka gritted her teeth, and sparks shot out across her body. Then, she took off running after him.

“Stop right there!” She discharged a bolt of lightening at the thief but just before it would have made contact he spread his wings and soared into the air. Damn, I wish Kuroko were here. She panted as she tried to keep up with her air borne target. I could easily knock him out of the sky but there are too many people... Ponies around. I need to get him somewhere with less.. A confident grin spread across her face. I know just the place! She fired bolts of lighting at pegasus, who deftly avoided each bolt. However each near hit drove the him further to the center of the city. He flew up higher into the sky trying to get out of range of Misaka's lightening.

“Oh no you don't!” She came to a stop and lightening arced around her scorching the ground, onlookers hid in their homes and shops and the heat of the electricity distorted light going through the air. Then massive bolts of lightening streaked high across the sky spreading out like a spider web. The force of the expanding air blasted the pegasus out the sky as he plummeted towards the ground, right where she wanted him. She ran towards where he crashed, running.. Or rather galloping as fast as she could, which she admitted was a lot faster on four legs. After less than a minute of running she burst through the bushes into the Canterlot Public Garden. There, by the fountain was a young gray pegasus with a dull yellow mane. He was rubbing his head trying presumably to dispel the dizziness from his crash. He looked up at Misaka, eyes wide with panic.

“You're finished!” She unleashed another bolt at the perpetrator, but he again flew out of the way just before it hit. He hovered in mid air glaring at Misaka.

“Why are you trying to stop me? You're an earth pony right? You should understand how the ponies of Canterlot see us lower class ponies. I'm just trying to even things up!” He beseeched. Misaka's looked down at the ground, her bangs obscuring her eyes as electricity arced furiously around her. Her silence made the pegasus feel uneasy.

“That's the reason? That's why you hurt ponies and destroyed a place that was special to my friend? For that pathetic reason!” The air crackled with heat before she released a blast of lighting with blindingly bright intensity. The pegasus flew into the air with barely enough time to hide behind a cloud, which absorbed the brunt of the attack before evaporating. He then flew to the next nearest cloud and grabbed a ball of it in his hooves, before flying back to nearly ground level. She fired another bolt at him but this time he was ready. He threw the ball of cloud in front of him and again it absorbed the attack. As soon as the bolt was absorbed into the cloud he flapped his wings as hard as he could at her, creating powerful gusts. She braced herself against the intense winds but was knocked off her hooves by flying debris.

“Did you really think a pegasus couldn’t handle a little lightening?” He scoffed at Misaka as she struggled back to her hooves.

“I guess not.” She ran her hoof through her mane, sparks arced ominously around her. A steel bit fell into her hoof, she flipped it up into the air, a grin spread across her face.

“By the way, have you ever heard of a railgun?” He had all of about enough time to get a confused look on his face before the coin exploded at him at over three times the speed of sound, a blinding, dazzling light was left in it's wake as it rushed only inches beneath him, the force with which it tore through the air created an explosion and then a vacuum that blew him out of the air, and threw him on the ground. The coin burned up from the friction with the air before it could hit any buildings. Fifty meters, that was the maximum distance her railgun had when using a coin, just as long as the length of the park. She had measured it with her eyes when Fancy brought her the first time. The force of the shock wave had left the pegasus stunned. Misaka walked over to him, standing above him.

“I-I wanted to be a royal guard, but I failed the test, I just wasn't good enough. I wanted to make them regret..” He was cut off by a swift hoof to his head, Misaka glared at him.

“Shut up with those stupid excuses! If you give up on something just because you failed then that's your own fault! Don't try to put the blame on others just because you gave up!”

“You're strong! Don't talk down to me like you know what it's like!”

“I started out as a level one, that is, I was the lowest level. I could barely make a spark. I work hard every day to get to where I am now. There were a lot of failures but I never gave up and that is why I am the third strongest level five.” The sincerity in her voice gave the pegasus pause.

“He told me that if I did this he would make me part of his royal guard.” Misaka raised an eyebrow in confusion.

“Who told you?” The pegasus was about to respond when a voice from behind them cut him off.

“That would be my nephew.” Misaka turned to see a majestic and regal unicorn -pegasus with a flowing rainbow mane. Misaka's jaw almost dropped at the sight of her. A white male unicorn stood behind her surrounded by two guards. Fancy Pants stood beside the...Pegacorn?

“Ah Ms. Misaka that I am so glad you are unharmed, and I must say that was quite spectacular.” Fancy Pants approached her, smiling brightly.

“Hey Fancy, what's going on? who is that?”

“That is who you have been wanting to see, Misaka allow me to introduce you to Princess Celestia.” So that's the princess?! Wow, she definitely looks the part.

“It's a pleasure to meet you Misaka Mikoto. I am sorry my nephew put you through all of this, I had only just uncovered his plot. You see he wanted to set this pegasus up and then capture him and use the accomplishment to gain political power.”

“Oh, that makes sense. Wait? How do you know my name?”

“Fancy Pants told me you're name but I had know about you're arrival since you came to this world.”

“Is there any way you could send me back to Academy City?” She asked hopefully. The princess smiled and nodded.

“I just so happen to have a spell that will send you home.” Her horn began to glow, and the space behind her distorted and tore open, through the hole she could see the familiar city scape of her home Academy City. She looked to Fancy Pants.

“Thank you for everything Fancy Pants, I had a great time. Maybe we'll see each other again.” He smiled back at her.

“That would be lovely. There are so many other wonderful places in Canterlot I would love to show you.”

“That would be great.” She turned towards the vandal who was still laying on the ground.

“If you want to do something don't just give up, keep trying and blast away any obstacles. If I could do it so can you.” The vandal nodded, mouth slightly agape, her words really struck a cord with him.

“By everyone, It was great being here even if it was a little crazy.” She began to step through the portal.

“And thank you Misaka Mikoto, I hope you carry the magic of friendship with you well in your world.” With those parting words from the princess Misaka disappeared into the portal, it closed behind her. Fancy looked up at the princess.

“I believe I will miss that filly, she was very fun to get to know. I do hope we meet again.”

“I wouldn't worry Fancy Pants, I doubt that this is the last we will see of her in this world. In fact, I believe she will not be out last visitor. The flood gates have opened, Other beings from other worlds will be appearing in Equestria. I just hope they are all as nice as Misaka.”

She blinked, the familiar city filled her view. She was standing where she had been before.

“Was that all a dream?” She looked into the sky, the sun was in the same place it had been when she was hear last. She held her hoof up. Her hands were back! She sighed in relief and leaned against the railing of the building taking in the sights and smells.

“Onee Sama!” Misaka turned around upon hearing the familiar voice only to be captured in a crushing hug.

“Onee Sama! I've been looking for you everywhere. As Tokiwadai's Ace you can't simply disappear like that!” Misaka could hear the obvious worry in her friends voice, she remembered the way she had left them all in the cafe that morning she could understand why. She smiled and returned the hug much to her her friends surprise.

“You're right Kuroko, I'm sorry.” She said softly before breaking the hug.

“Let's get out of here, it's starting to get cold.” Kuroko dismissed her confusion and smiled.

“Uiharu and Saten wanted to go to see a new movie that came out. Shall we go?”

“Sure. By the way do you know where we could get an apple turnover?”

"I think there's a bakery on the way?"

"Great let's stop there"

"Okay?" Kuroko grabbed Misaka's hand and they vanished off the rooftop. The memory of her time in Canterlot replaying fondly in her memory.
